Ok...I need some help.

I'm really wanting to make filet for dinner tonight. I'm not getting the grill out...it's too darn cold ouside!! So I need some help, I'm not sure how to cook it otherwise.

Could someone please tell me how to cook it. Either pan or in the oven. I won't be makind a sauce or anything for it, just plain filet. (my girls won't eat it any other way..lol) I like to cook it Medium.

So please tell me how to cook it and for how long!!! Thanks so much!!!

I usually season it with kosher salt and black pepper, put it into a skillet and sear it on both sides for 4-5 minutes then transfer the pan to the oven to finish cooking for 8-10 minutes depending on how thick the cut is.

I made filet inside last night. I salted and peppered two filets, cooked them in a skillet in a couple tablespoons of butter for a few minutes a side, and then topped them with a blue cheese-bread crumb crust and put them under the broiler for a couple minutes.

You can cook steaks in a skillet in oil or butter. I think the rule of thumb is three minute per side for medium-rare, so maybe 5 minutes or so per side would work for medium.

This is our absolute favorite way to cook them! I do 5 minutes per side since I like mine medium :)
