DH and I went to see a movie tonight and saw previews/ads for two 9/11 movies coming out:

Flight 93 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475276/

and

World Trade Center http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469641/

Is it just me that feels it is just too early for these and that the wound is still too fresh?

I agree with you. I wouldn't go see it.

Your post made me think of something my American Lit professor pointed out when we were reading through a series of short stories about various american wars - most good "literature" (I think of movies as a form of literature) about major events like wars (or Sept. 11) don't come out for 10-20 years after the event. I forget the reasoning he gave but it makes sense. How objective could the movie be at this point in time?

There have already been TV movies made and shown about this. It was on A&E....it is called Flight 93 (http://www.aetv.com/flight_93/index.jsp). So I'm not sure if what you linked to is the movie coming out on DVD or something completely different.

I actually watched this movie and found it interesting. I lived in PA about 30 minutes from where the plane went down, so in that respect it kinda hits home.

As for the movie, I watched it as a dramatization. You have to realize that there are parts that have to be totally fictional, because no one really knows what happened at specific times. Parts of the movie were factual and documented, and parts....well they were going for the drama effect.

I'm not sure if it's too soon for it, but I kindof think it's in poor taste to make movies about it. Documentaries are one thing, but movies are another.

I think it's still too soon for me. Personally, I only want to see the facts at this point.

Smilin13 - I didn't see the A&E movie, but apparently this is a different version that will actually be playing in theatres.

nordey - The 10-20 rule makes a lot of sense. By then people have had much more chance to heal and there will at least be an entire generation that was not there to experience it.
