tray622 - I know I'll be in the same boat regarding due date confusion. If you use my LMP my due date will be March 15, but I know I didn't ovulate until Day 19, which puts me at March 20. Your daughter, by the way, could not possibly be any cuter. :)
I've been reading a lot of the "how I told DH" stories lately, so I thought I'd share mine: I woke up very early in the morning eleven days past ovulation, couldn't get back to sleep, and decided to test - 3 positives on three different brands. Very excited, I was desperate to share the news with my best friend, who just had her first baby, and has been asking me incessantly whether or not I am pregnant yet. She lives in NYC, and we are in California, so I knew there was a good chance she'd be on IM already. Then it occurred to me that I could not possibly share the news with her without telling my DH first, so I cuddled up to him in bed, kissed and poked him awake, told him I was pregnant, dragged him to the bathroom and shoved a series of sticks in his sleepy face, and then sent him back to bed so I could chat with my buddy with impunity.
I am a romantic, yes? ;)

You're telling DH story sounds similar to mine. On the morning of his Birthday I was also up really early and couldn't get back to sleep even tough I vowed I wouldn't test again until the next day, but I had gotten a faint blue line a few days before. But, I couldn't helf myself. Upon getting the results, I also cuddled up in bed with him, cleared my throught to bring him to consciousness and shoved the test stick in his face to read the results... fortunately I had picked up the certainty test that actually had a read out that reads "PREGNANT" otherwise I'm not sure he would have know what to make of the test with the two blue lines.

telling DH With #1 we werent TTC either but we took a risk since we knew we wanted a baby. I found out and waited 2 days which killed me to tell him at the right moment. I bought him a frame that said mommy and daddys little on and put inside "you are going to be a daddy!" I wrapped it with a DVD he wanted to throw throw him off. It was an amazing moment. With this surprise, we werent TTC and honestly werent thrilled at the thought of babies so close. I took a test a saw the faintest shadow of a line. The same thing happened with DD... no test would show a line except the digitalsand I was only about 9-10dpo. I love the digitals! Anyway, I just told him I thought I was pg and then on Fathers day he was giving Zoey a bath and I took the digital without him knowing. I just went "OH MY GOSH" and he knew. We are getting much more excited everyday :D We then told his parents with a shirt that said "I am going to be a big sister" and that was a lot of fun.
Wow... I sure know how to ramble ;)

I had a bit of a scare yesterday. When I woke up and went to the bathroom I was bleeding. I had some bloody cm Thursday, but I knew that could be normal. Well yesterday was like the 1st day of AF. I called my doc and spoke with her partner and he was really nice and told me that bleeding happens in about 1/3 of PG women. He said that unless the bleeding got worse or my cramps intensified that I should be okay and to just take it easy. I still have a little bit of bleeding, but it isn't as bad as it was yesterday. I have my 1st prenatal appt. Tuesday so I'll feel a little better about things then.

I'm utterly terrified to be posting in this thread.....not sure if this one will stick but I figure that it's good to think positively, right? :)
We've been TTC for just over 2 years and have had 3 mc's. This month we were waiting for AF to come so we could start testing for IVF. On 5-7 DPO I had very light spotting which is not unusal for me, but the temps kept going up. Got my first VERY LIGHT BFP at 8 DPO, and subsequent +'s each morning (getting darker very slowly....)
Here's our stats:

ajb That sounds scary, glad the doctor said everything was okay!
telling DH He was still in bed, so I climbed on the bed and said, "It's positive." He said, "Really?" and "Is it really obvious?" I think he didn't really believe me.
My first doctor's appointment is Tuesday - actually I'm just meeting with the nurse so she can take down my medical history and all that.

ajb I am sorry you had a scare! With my first I actually had some bleeding from 4 weeks - 10 weeks. I know it is scary but I have heard and read the same thing your doc said. It is most common right when AF is supposed to start. Try to take it easy and I bet Tuesday will be here before you know it!

symptoms I am about 6wks 5days - 7 wks 3days and was feeling so wonderful in the beginning and was so sick with dd from day 1. Well that has since ceased and I have already had more than my fair share of spending time with the toilet  I just have this sour stomach ALL the time with a horrid taste in my mouth. It is so funny because I had the worst baby blues with dd and was so sad she wasnt in my tummy anymore. I forgot about all of this ;) At least I could be thankful I dont have ssore bbs this time!
May I join over here? I like these boards soooo much better than the WC these days. I haven't yet caught up with this thread, but I will.

As I mentioned on the WC.....our first ultrasound was last week and we saw two sacs (they put back two embryos during the IVF process). I've had some spotting, however, so I'm not yet calling it as "twins" until we see two heartbeats.....which we hope to do on Friday at our next ultrasound (CANNOT WAIT).
Hopefully, if all is well on Friday, we'll be "released" to my regular OB (we're still under the care of an RE).
I had my first craving over the weekend (fried chicken) and my appetite had been HUGE for days (*everything* looked good). Then yesterday, NOTHING did. I survived on Triscuits and white rice. :)
Other symptoms: very sore bbs from the beginning (could be the progesterone shots I'm still taking, however). Gas/indigestion. Bouts of extreme fatigue, followed by periods when I feel completely normal.
TMI alert: I'm going to call my doctor today b/c I've been having some very frequent sharp pains in (what feels like) my cervix. Anyone else??? I've also had some brown discharge -- I hesitate to call it spotting because it doesn't look like blood at all. I think my RE likes getting these obstetrics-type questions (after all, I'm a success story for him), so I don't mind bugging him.
I'll have to catch up later with replies, but I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!!! Two specific shout outs for now:
OMG, junkinmytrunk, I am so freakin' happy for you!!!! We've been living parallel TTC lives somewhat, and how funny is it that we're both going to be March mommas??
Oh, and HSSweethearts, a hearty congratulations to you, too! You don't know me by "this" name, but you know me by my "real" WC name from way back when..."katbride." :D Great to see you 'round again, and congratulations from an old friend!!!

Welcome JennW! How exciting! I hope we get lots more March Mommies.
I guess I'll answer some of the pending questions...
How did you tell DH?
On Friday night I had three different dreams about testing. I can't remember all of them perfectly but they were so real and I was pregnant in all of them. My heart was beating when I woke up on Saturday morning and I felt totally compelled to take a test.
I snuck off to the bathroom while DH was in bed and turned on the sink so that he couldn't hear me rustling around for the HPT boxes. I went directly for a digital test. I had never taken a digital test before, so it took me a minute to put it together and read the instructions. The test immediately said "Pregnant".
I have no patience so I ran back into the bedroom, pounced on the bed, turned to DH and said, "I have the most special surprise in the world for you, are you ready?"
He had no idea what was going on so I handed him the test. His eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head. He was so happy.
"No way," he said. "We did it. It's for real. We are going to have our baby."
I started tearing and so did he. We held each other close for a long time. After that we had Sparkling Apple Cider for Breakfast with Waffles. :)
Symptoms?
I didn't realize these were symptoms until after I started reading one of my books this week. I've had heartburn, a tiny bit of circulation problems with my arm and vivid dreams. :) None of the typical ones like sore boobs or nausea.

Hoping I don't jinx myself with this response, but so far, so good. I haven't felt sick to my stomach, or had any real cravings or aversions from food. I'm still reallllly early in the process - so far my symptoms involve tender bbs (I've gone from only wearing a bra when absolutely, positively necessary to sporting a jog bra round the clock), a bit of dizziness, a very active bladder, and light cramping on and off. I also get a little sluggish in the afternoons, but I swear I was more tired before I found out I was pregnant - I went to bed at 8pm two nights in a row around 7-9 DPO.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm looking forward to m/s, if only because it's considered a good sign that the pg is viable. When I feel good I don't feel actually pregnant, you know?
Boy, do I sincerely hope we are all rewarded with chunky babies for all this worry...crossables all kinds of crossed.

Heh. Well, we weren't exactly trying (we were taking some time off after our last m/c) but we're also the worst TTAers in the world. I'd been in denial most of last week when I was obviously late (I didn't chart last month but started temping at the end so I would know when AF was on her way--my temps never went down) but didn't test until last night and it came up right away. I went in for betas this morning and will know more by this afternoon.
No obvious symptoms: BBs feel fuller, but not sore; I'm starving all the time; mild backache; but the one that should have tipped me off was early waking. Normally, I can sleep in until the cows come home, but most of last week I was up at 5 and 6 and couldn't get back to sleep. The only other times that's happend was when I was pg.

I got my BFP on July 4th, but it was so light, yadda yadda yadda. I went for a beta on Friday and it came back 150 (I was 14-16dpo). My doctor thought that was a little low, so he wanted me to do a repeat beta today. I just got the results and they are 941. So they more than doubled every 48 hours.
I didn't do a beta-HCG with my 1st pregnancy so I was suprised he wanted to do it this time. The wait nearly killed me. It totally killed my productivity at work.

I just made my first pre-natal appointment for August 4. The place I chose doesn't see pregnant women until 8-10 weeks. I make this face:  . However, I will really only be 7w3d (knock on wood) by then (appointment was based on lmp, natch). So hah I say!
Kinda throws a kink into my telling the family plan. So far, I have told only my DH, my two best girlfriends, a nosy checkout clerk at the supermarket, and, of course, everyone on the boards. I'm trying to hold off telling anyone else until I know if the kid is a keeper! (Mainly because my mother will tell the entire free world and, in the event - heaven forbid - that anything goes wrong, I'd prefer that the whole world not be in the loop, you know?) Not sure if I can make it until August 4, though. We'll see. I have to tell them before August 24 if everything is a go, since they are coming for a visit, and will certainly raise an eyebrow when they notice that I'm choosing seltzer over syrah.

Welcome kdotp and mom2amelia!
Thanks Katie!:) It’s wonderful to hear a great success story!
kpotp – Yay for your doctor’s appt. on Thursday! And yay for the confirmation. I’m sure that made you feel great. When will they give you your numbers? When you go in?
tunibell – I will be impressed if you can wait that long to tell everyone. I haven’t told anyone yet either (just got my BFP today) and I have no idea when I will. It’s so nerve-wracking isn’t it? I have to go to a few family parties this month and next as well. When I pass on the booze, they’re going to be suspicious!:D
Well I’m heading off of here to go home soon. One this is for certain about PG ---> it makes me do LOTS less work!:D:D:)
ETA: I better call my doctor to make my first PN appt. I have to go to a new doctor since we’ve moved and I’m too far away from my old OB. Hope this doesn’t get too complicated with transferring records and transferring my pre-natal blood tests, etc. I’m anxious to meet my new doctor (I’ve already chosen one) and see what he has to say. I’m also RH negative and I’m paranoid about that with the pregnancy and need to hear from a doctor what the real risks are.

That's also my DH's birthday and his middle name is Patrick for St. Paddy's Day.

mom2amelia and Dasha - Welcome and congratulations!!! It's great that we are getting more March Mommies. :)
Speaking of first appointments, they made mine for Monday, August 1. According to their calculations I am 5 weeks, but according to Babycenter.com and my cycle length, I am calculating just 4 weeks.
Even though it is going to be really hard, I decided I can wait the 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to tell our families, including my Mom. I've only told DH, all of you and one of my co-workers - who is a good friend and also started TTC this month.

I'm still feeling very nervous about this pregnancy - but posting here won't jinx everything, right?
My stats:
Me: Bernie
Age: 30
DH age: 34
Married: 1/03
TTC: 1/04
IVF #1: 6/05
Positive beta: 6/29/05
EDD: 3/8/06
We had our first ultrasound last week and saw two sacs - we go back on Friday to see if there are two heartbeats. I'm counting down the minutes until then!
So far- no real symptoms - other than being hungry all of the time. I haven't been able to stop eating for the past week and a half.
We haven't told anyone other than our immediate families and a few close friends who knew we were doing IVF - I'm hoping to keep it under wraps until the end of the first trimester (or until my colleagues start wondering why I have stopped drinking and stuffing myself with brie at firm functions :D ).
MIPG? - I've been lurking on the IVF boards for awhile and following your journey - and all that time I had no idea that I had also wasted many working hours lurking in your wedding journal! (Your wedding was just beautiful, by the way).
Congratulations to everyone -- I hope we all have a healthy 9 months in here together!

Welcome and congratulations to all the newcomers! :D
ajb What a beautiful ultrasound, you must be so relieved!
tunibell Thanks for posting that article. I have been obsessing about everything!
Symptoms My breasts have been really sore the last few days. I have had, quite literally, morning sickness - I wake up feeling nauseated but feel fine the rest of the day! But my main symptom is that I am exhausted!

QOTD:
Will you (or did you) have an ultrasound to date this pregnancy?
When I called my Dr this morning they said that I have to go for a blood test and if the numbers were high enough they would schedule an ultrasound to date the PG.
Not sure if this is b/c I am nursing so my cycles are really wacky or if this is standard with my OB. With my DS I had a different OB and they did an ultrasound at 6 weeks b/c I was spotting and stuff but not to date the PG.

Welcome to all new moms. Gosh.. this thread is moving so fast!
Tuni, thanks for the great article.
Had my first appt yesterday. They estimated I was 5w5d, so they only drew blood, gave me vitamins, a joyous pelvic exam and rescheduled me for next week for an u/s. They figured that by then I will be able to get heartbeat action, date the pregnancy, and just make sure that everything is progressing like its supposed too.
Symptons - mostly gas rather then naseau. Really... really tired!!!
EDD can this be updated to 03.09.2006, I was in the wrong year.
Another question, anyone thinking of working with a midwife? My husband is really encouraging me to search for a birth center type atmosphere, even a home birth rather then the traditional hospital.

I worked with a midwife at the beginning of my last pregnancy but I ended up with PIH and pre-e, so I was treated by a peri from 20 weeks on. I think its a good idea to research all the options and then you will have all the info to make a good decision both of yu are comfortable with :)
dating pg I dont think it is routine to do an u/s to date pg but I hear of many docs who do. I dont know if mine does since I also had tons of early u/s due to spotting, etc. It will be interesting to see!

Well, I just found out I have a UTI. I thought something was up when I woke up this morning and had this intense buring when I went to the bathroom. I called my OB but they wouldn't see my for my UTI until after my bloodwork comes back to confirm the PG. So, I had to call my family DR and squeeze in there but then my Dr had to call my OB to see what was safe to take while PG in the first trimester. I hate insurance companies!!! If they didn't need the bloodwork I could have just gone to my OB instead of everything taking twice as long b/c my regular Dr still had to confer with my OB.
What a pain (literally) this is and I really hate to take medicine while PG but then again I don't want to end up with a kidney infection!
Welcome to all the (many) newcomers!! Wow, this thread moves quickly!
I feel crappy today. No real way to describe it except "crappy." Went from huge appetite, wanting to eat EVERYTHING IN SIGHT over the weekend, to having zero appetite (and everything looking/sounding gross) on Monday. Same yesterday, same today. Some mild bouts with out-and-out queasiness, but no throwing up (knock on wood).
What I've been calling "spotting" is back (I've had it off and on since shortly after getting the positive beta), but I've finally decided to stop worrying about it. Not to be TMI, but it isn't very blood-like, and when I talked to my RE yesterday (cuz I was concerned about that + the shooting pains I'm getting in my cervix), he basically said that it's probably nothing. If it *is* a miscarriage or me losing one of the babies, there's absolutely nothing I can do about it anyway. So I'm just going to sit tight and wait for Friday's ultrasound before getting upset.
Went to see my endocrinologist this morning (I'm hypothyroid, so she's monitoring me pretty closely now that I'm pregnant) and my blood pressure was 85/56!!!!! The nurse took it three times because she couldn't believe it was correct. My blood pressure tends to be really low (100/65-70 is probably average for me), but that's by far the lowest it's been. My doctor said (and I've since read elsewhere) that bp decreases during early pregnancy, but I had no idea! I'm surprised I'm still walking. :)
QOTD doesn't apply to me (I did IVF, so we know exactly when these babies were conceived), but I thought I'd chime in that I happen to know that my OB doesn't routinely do u/s to date pregnancies. FWIW.
********
HSSweethearts: it's so wonderful to hear your news (and to have a place to "chat" again, since I've never managed to make the leap to LJ). So excited for you!!
junk, fingers, toes, arms, legs....basically everything that's crossable will be crossed (at least in spirit :D) for you!!!
Bernie, wow, I can't believe how similar our stories/dates are! We, too, are going in Friday for our first ultrasound and to confirm that it's indeed twins. I hope this week isn't dragging so badly for you!
(I cannot believe you remember my wedding journal -- are you really that much of a WC "old-timer"?? :D Anyway, thanks so much!).
Elenitsa, if this is a singleton pregnancy, I may decide to switch from my OB (who's been my GYN for years) to the midwife practice down the hall. I know two women who've used the midwives and have loved them. These particular midwives are on the "medicalized" side (they are affiliated with the hospital) but I'm definitely interested. If I'm having twins, however, I kinda doubt I'll bother since the risk of c/s is so much higher (and I don't even think the midwives would take me, at my age (37 at delivery time) and pregnant with multiples). So the short answer is that I'm waiting to find out how many I'm having before looking into it any further.
*********
Ugh. Starving hungry now. Must find something that sounds good to eat. So far, I've been limited to wheat toast with american cheese....
ceKathleen, I'm so sorry to hear about your UTI symptoms!! I cannot believe they're making you wait -- when will you know? That's not something you want to suffer through, and I know that UTIs are more common in pregnant women....so there MUST be something they can give you that is safe for pregnant women, right? Why can't they just give you that and be done with it? I hope you don't have to suffer unnecessarily for long!!!

I just called to make my first appointment! I’m so excited! I go in on July 25 at which point they say I’ll be 6 weeks. I don’t really understand how they count cause even counting from the day of my last MP I will only be 5W2D. Unless I’m doing this wrong. Can anyone explain? My last MP was on June 18. I don’t get it. Also, doesn’t cycle length effect it?
Another question: I asked them if I should be taking a pre-natal vitamin cause right now all I take are my one a day multi vitamin. They told me that is fine until they prescribe me something. Does that sound right?
So I don’t feel completely nauseous, I just feel like there is this lump sort of in the back of my throat that I cannot get rid of it at all! It’s kind of like nausea but difficult to explain. Other than that I am sooooooooooo tired. I swear when I get home from work all I want to do is sleep, sleep, sleep. Also I feel kind of pressure on my stomach. Weird.
I bought What to Expect When You’re Expecting and started reading it last night. It’s a plethora of great information. So far, I recommend it to everyone!
I took another HPT this morning hoping my line got darker, but it’s still pretty light. I don’t know why it has me so paranoid, but it does. I’m sure I’m being dumb. I’ll just take another test tomorrow morning. Silly me.
ce_Kathleen – Sorry about the UTI! That sucks! I hope the meds kick in soon and you feel better. Don’t worry about the medication. They wouldn’t have prescribed it if it wasn’t safe. Feel better soon.
MIPG? – You have a good attitude. I’m going to adopt that idea: No reason to worry cause there is nothing you can do. Good advice, thanks!:)

Hi everyone! Geez...this thread IS growing at lightning speed....yayyy!!!
Got back from Beta #2 --- no results till tomorrow AM --- will post as soon as I get 'em.
QOTD: As soon as I have something she can see, definitely will get an U/S for dating, but I'm 99% sure (I'm a charter) we conceived on 6/30.
Will pop back in a bit later....
Anyone feel like posting where they are from in the world? I'm from LA, CA.....curious if I have any local MTB in my part of the world....
Have a great day, preggos!!

DH: 31
Married: 4/03

We got to see the heartbeat too which was very exciting! That and the fact that the m/s hit a lot earlier and a LOT harder this time have our hopes up. This one better stick bcs I'm not sure I can go through how sick I was last week again. Even DH was nervous that I wouldn't want to have other kids. But the doctor put me on Zofran and while I'm still nauseaus 24/7 at least I'm not puking every hour.
Well, I will be back for SO's later on but I just wanted to join up and say hi and congrats to you all!

Oh, so many mommies!! I love it!!
QOTD #1: I charted this conception meticulously, so I'm pretty positive I conceived 6/27. But I love all tests, diagnostics, etc. - so whatever they wanna give me is just fine by me!
QOTD #2: After five years in Brooklyn, NY, we moved last November to San Francisco, CA. I loooooove California!
And now, for your reading pleasue, may I present to you a (very long) ditty I like to call Worst Telling Parents Story Ever:
Originally, DH and I wanted to wait until at least the first doctor's appointment showed everything was a-okay, or even until the beginning of the second trimester, to tell our folks. My thinking was that if anything went/goes wrong, the LAST thing I want is people calling me every hour asking "How ya feeling?" Which would totally happen. Also, I knew that swearing my mother to secrecy was not an option - she can't keep a secret no matter how much you beg. And I had these horrible daydreams that something would go wrong and I'd get sympathy cards from people who shouldn't have known in the first place. Shudder.
But....the day we got our HPT+, my MIL sent an e-mail to DH suggesting that she and FIL fly out for Christmas this year (both of our families live in New England). We didn't fly home for either Thanksgiving or Christmas last year, because we had just moved to San Francisco, and my mother was completely beside herself. Holidays are a big freakin' deal to her.
Since we knew that MIL was going to keep asking until she got an answer, and since we knew we weren't going to be able to fly home for Christmas anyhow (knock on wood), we decided the easiest thing would be to tell my folks we'd come home for Thanksgiving and that the ILs would fly to us for Christmas. That way, everyone gets a little piece of us at the holidays.
Well, this went over like a lead balloon. My mother's first reaction was "Well, that sucks!" followed by an outraged "How come the IL's get Christmas?" Then she got all cold and distant and gave me the "Well, it's your life, do whatever you want." Then she handed me off to my dad, which is what she always does when I have told her something she doesn't want to hear.
So, despite the fact that I was royally p-oed that she acted like a complete and total baby, I really didn't want her thinking that she was second choice at the holidays, especially since she's made it ABUNDANTLY clear in the past how much it means to her to have the whole family home for Christmas. So I convinced DH that we might as well just tell the immediate family (only) and get it over with.
My mom was apparently still smarting from the perceived Thanksgiving slight, because the only question she asked was - "When did you find out?" When I honestly answered Friday, she totally clammed up - and handed me over to my father, who was thrilled. My mother never said congratulations - nothing. And she loves babies - my nephews are the loves of her lives. She was just irked that I hadn't told her right away. (By the way, dear reader, if you are thinking, wow, tunibell, what a self-centered b your mother is...well, you wouldn't be wrong.)
As soon as I got off the phone I burst into tears and sobbed for the next five minutes straight. Apparently my dad was so angry at the way my mother behaved (oh, and the fact that she immediately sent an e-mail to one of her friends even though i pleaded with her not to tell anyone outside the family) that he stormed out of the house. Bad scene all around.
AND THEN...we call my MIL, who kept saying "it's so early" and then told me that "almost everyone has at least one miscarriage." Sweet. FIL was very excited. So the long and short of this is: Dads: 2, Moms: 0.

Even though I'm 38 and conceived via interuterine insemination with injectibles, I am planning to see a midwife. My first appointment is on August 8, when I will be just over 10 weeks pregnant. When I spoke with the office, I was told that neither my age, nor the way I conceived would be an impediment to seeing the midwives.
Even though conception was not "natural," I really want this pregnancy to have as little medical interference as possible.
kdotp
07-13-2005, 12:15 PM
qotd 1 The OB practice I now go to doesn't see patients until 10-12 weeks, so probably no early u/s to date, unless they decide to do so because of my two previous miscarriages.
qotd 2 Haven't even thought that far in advance yet. My only goal right now is to make it past the first trimester.
qotd 3 Iowa.
DH and I booked a trip to London, England for New Year's after our last m/c since we were supposed to be taking a break from TTC until January. As the trip is non-refundable, non-transferrable, we're still planning on going. I'll [hopefully] be around 29 weeks by that time and I believe most Doctors (and airlines) will allow pregnant women to fly up until around 32-34 weeks. I may not be the most comfortable, but by gosh we're going!

Welcome to the newest March Mommies! I love all the action in this thread.
ajb524 & aprilshowers - Those are some beautiful ultrasounds! It gives all of us something to look forward to!
ce_Kathleen - I hope your UTI goes away soon. It's yucky that you even have to deal with it AND the doctors.
tunibell - Oh no! It amazes me how much people make things about them sometimes. I'm sure the Mom's will come around and make everything OK. :(
MIPG - Your blood pressure is unbelievable. I didn't realize it goes down when you are PG. I'm going to check mine tonight out of curiosity! Please take good care of yourself. I'm glad you are focusing on the positive and taking things day by day.
So many of you are expecting big news tomorrow and Friday. Make sure to check back in right away with your results so as not to keep the rest of us in suspense OK? We are all in this together right? :)
QOTD 1: I will have my ultrasound at my first appointment on Aug. 1. I will be 8 weeks and will get the definitive due date then. I will also get to hear the heartbeat I hope!
QOTD 2: Re: midwives, I haven't really thought that far yet and I need to research the different options. I've heard that the ones at my practice are great, so I'll see.
QOTD 3: I'm in the ATL - Atlanta, Georgia that is. Looks like we are really from all over the country.
I went ahead and ordered a ton of books off of Amazon since we had an unused gift certificate to burn. I went to Borders first to look through them so that helped narrow down the choices. It's funny because I've heard that people either love or hate What to Expect When You’re Expecting. So I didn't buy it just yet.

tunibell - I'm so sorry about how your mom acted. I can't imagine how awful I would feel if my mom treated me that way.
Well my bleeding has started back again today :(. I'm going to be anxiously awaiting the next ultrasound. HOpefully I will be far enough along to see the heartbeat.
My symptoms so far. I've been really tired with sore bb's. I haven't been sick, but I did get a little nauseous when we were eating Mexican the other night and the table behind us ordered some kind of fish dish. To be honest I think the fishy smell would have made me nauseous with or without being PG.
Edited to add: I'm from Athens, GA. HSSweethearts- looks like we are neighbors :D

Sorry that I forgot to answer the other 2 QOTD.
Since I know exactly when I conceived since this pregnancy was achieved through interuterine insemination, there's no reason to have a u/s specifically to date the pregnancy. Plus, the due date is a guesstimate at best and very few women actually give birth on that day.
I'm from the Chicago suburbs. I was born and raise on the North Shore, attended college and graduate school on the East Coast (Providence, RI for college and then NYC for grad school), worked in Washington, DC for 5 years and then moved back to Chicago, where I will probably live until we're ready to retire and possibly considering another area of the country.

Wow, this thread is flying! I can't keep up.
QOTD 1 - my practice does an U/S on the first visit, but I'm not sure it's to date the pregnancy as much as it is to make sure everything looks fine. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.
QOTD 2 - I'd love to use a midwife, but there are no free-standing birth centers in Ohio (that I'm aware of) and I've been through so much with my OB, that I don't really want to leave now anyway. The practice I go to does have midwives that deliver at the hospital, so that's an option I might consider. I will definitely use a doula this time.
QOTD 3 - I live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, but I am originally from Washington, DC.
ajb524 - I hope the bleeding stops soon. How scary. Sore boobs and exhaustion are good signs though that everything is just fine.
tunibell - Sorry your mother didn't give you the warm response you were probably hoping for. Good for your dad, and FIL, though.
ce-Kathleen - UTIs suck. I'm sorry you got one. I hope it clears up fast. It's ridiculous what you had to go through to get treated though.
I hope everyone who's suffering with MS finds some relief soon. I have been spared, so far. I have very mild nausea when I first wake up and then when I haven't eaten for awhile, but it's really mild. So far this pregnancy is just like it was with my DD. Around 6 weeks last time I started to feel queasy all day every day and that lasted until the end of my 1st trimester. We'll see if history repeats itself.
Wow - I just posted this morning, and already this thread has grown by two pages!!!
I just had to say:
BEAUTIFUL ULTRASOUND, aprilshowers?? Can I ask how far along you were then? I'm curious b/c your RE gave you the same due date that I figured out ours was (using some on-line calculator), and that u/s looks a lot more "advanced" than just shy of six weeks! :)
tunibell, oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's reaction!! That just ruins what would otherwise be a wonderful moment. Thank god the fathers handled it so well!!!

QOTD - Dating ultrasound My doctor's office doesn't routinely do this, I won't get one until I'm 18 weeks. But my LMP was pretty normal and I was charting and all that, so I can tell you exactly when we conceived, so there's no need to date my pregnancy. (Although I wish there was, I'd love an ultrasound!)
QOTD - Midwives My practice has two OB/GYNs and two CNM's. My first appointment is with one of the OB/GYNs, but the nurse who did my intake suggested I might want to have an appointment with all of them at some point in my pregnancy so that I meet all of them - because whoever's on call will be the one delivering my baby!
QOTD - Location I live in southern New Hampshire.

Good morning! I hope everyone is doing well - especially those of you who are already facing bouts of m/s.
No m/s here yet - just constant hunger and fatigue (although I am generally tired - so I'm not sure what can be attributed to work/not getting enough sleep and what is pregnancy related).
I'm currently reading What to Expect When Your're Expecting and The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy. I had read somewhere (probably on these boards) that What to Expect tries to scare you a bit and tends to treat pregnancy like a disease. I can see that, but it is also chock full of information, which is great. The Girlfriends' Guide is not as informative, but it is pretty funny and a quick read - and definitely a good source of answers to questions you may be too embarrassed to ask your doctor and/or friends. I also have a stack of books a friend of mine gave me, but I have been pretty unimpressed with them (and for the life of me, cannot remember their titles).
Still feeling a little anxious about tomorrow's ultrasound. I know there is no reason to think that the pregnancy just went away somehow without me noticing, but that's the irrational fear I have been dealing with all week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there are still two sacs there - and that we get to see the heartbeat. MIPG - I think your next ultrasound is tomorrow - I'll be keeping my crossables crossed for you too!
Oh - and in response to yesterday's question -- I'm in NE NJ (just outside of NYC). Another lovely humid and muggy day here! (Jenn - I think that almost makes us neighbors?)
Hope everyone has a great day!

Yay! Welcome red_canuck! I've seen you around the old boards and am vaguely familiar with your story. I'm so happy that you are joining us.
Elenitsa - Those books sound so interesting. I would love to hear how you like them when you're done. I feel like my list shows what a pregnancy newbie I am next to yours! :D
I already had the free Mayo Clinic Book from when that thread was going around years ago. I pulled and dusted it off the top hidden shelf of my home office closet after getting my BFP on Saturday. It is very text bookish, but I've actually enjoyed it so far because it has so much useful medical info. I figured this could go in place of What to Expect for now.
My Amazon order should arrive today, here's what I got:
For information:
Your Pregnancy Week by Week, Fifth Edition
The Pregnancy Journal: A Day To Day Guide To A Healthy And Happy Pregnancy
Baby Bargains: Secrets to Saving 20% to 50% on Baby Furniture, Equipment, Clothes, Toys, Maternity Wear, and Much, Much More!
Your Perfectly Pampered Pregnancy: Beauty, Health, and Lifestyle Advice for the Modern Mother-to-Be
For fun:
The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy
Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth
For DH:

Not books, but it was included in my order:

Edited to add: ajb524 - Glad to have a neighbor and another Georgia girl in here. :)

Morning, Ladies! Hope everyone is doing well today. I saw this on another ATF Group and can completely relate - already! Thought you all might enjoy it, as well. Have a great day and take care.
Being A Mom
We are sitting at lunch one day when my daughter casually mentions
that she and her husband are thinking of "starting a family."
"We're taking a survey," she says half-joking. "Do you think I should have a baby?"
"It will change your life," I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral.
"I know," she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous
vacations."
But that is not what I meant at all. I look at my daughter, trying to decide what to tell her. I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes.
I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will forever be vulnerable. I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without asking, "What if that had been MY child?"
That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her! That when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die.
I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to the primitive level of a bear protecting her cub. That an urgent call of "Mom!" will cause her to drop a souffle or her best crystal without a moment's hesitation.
I feel that I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood. She might arrange for childcare, but one day she will be going into an important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet smell. She will have to use every ounce of discipline to keep from running home, just to make sure her baby is all right. I want my daughter to know that every day decisions will no longer be routine. That a five year old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at McDonald's will become a major dilemma. That right there, in the midst of clattering trays and screaming children, issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in that restroom.
However decisive she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself
constantly as a mother. Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never
feel the same about herself. That her life, now so important, will be of
less value to her once she has a child. That she would give herself up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years, not to accomplish her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs.
I want her to know that a cesarean scar or shiny stretch marks will become badges of honor. My daughter's relationship with her husband will change, but not in the way she thinks. I wish she could understand how much more you can love a man who is careful to powder the baby or who never hesitates to play with his child. I think she should know that she will fall in love with him again for reasons she would now find very unromantic. I wish my daughter could sense the bond she will feel with women throughout history who have tried to stop war, prejudice and drunk driving.
I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child learn
to ride a bike. I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog or cat for the first time. I want her to taste the joy that is so real it actually hurts.
My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have formed in my
eyes. "You'll never regret it," I finally say. Then I reached across the table, squeezed my daughter's hand and offered a silent prayer for her, and for me, and for all the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this most wonderful of callings.

Hello ladies! WOW! This thread is just crazy! I can’t believe how fast it grows. It’s def difficult to keep up with. This is fun! Let’s hope our pregnant bellies grow as fast as these pages! Has anyone started Baby Journals or are you just going to continue to post updates in here. I’m considering starting one, but trying not to get too sucked in (yet).
As for reading, I’ve heard that Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy is good. I also saw a funny one called Pregnancy Sucks. They have one for moms to be and one for dads to be. I flipped through it at the store and it looked funny. DH was laughing at some of the stuff.
I also joined the site: http://www.babyfit.com/. It’s great for giving nutritional, exercise and general health and fitness advice. And it’s free.
Took another test this morning. Darker still.:)
QOTD: Has anyone decided to subscribe to any pg magazines, etc. I was thinking about it but don’t know if it’s a waste of time or any are worthwhile.
tunibell – OMG. I am so sorry with the reactions of the moms. You MIL reaction was so mean. I’m sure your mother’s didn’t make you feel great either.:( At least the dads were great!:D
ajb524 – Sorry to hear the bleeding is back. Did you talk to your OB about it? I’m sure all is fine. Try not to worry too much (as if that is possible for any of us, but still try and stay somewhat relaxed!):)
RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I cannot believe you’re in here! YAY! Congrats to you! So happy to go through this with an old friend. Same wedding date and close due dates! How exciting this is. I haven’t *seen* you around the boards in awhile. I stopped hanging at WC all the time (but was still there once in a while), especially after that *fake* journaler we were both friends with. Happy to see you on CC. This site seems awesome so far. Yay again and WELCOME!!!:D
Elenitsa – That’s quite a reading list you’ve got there. Make sure to tell us which ones are good or not! Sorry about the m/s.
Bernie – I agree [U]What to Expect When You’re Expecting[/B] seems a little bit of a downer at times, but I still love it because of all the info it has! Yep, looks like we’re neighbors. I used to live in NE, NJ (Essex County). We moved out (and up?) to Sussex (on the Morris border) last year. Yay for the Jersey March Mommas!
Happy Thursday everyone!:p

Welcome and congrats Red!! :D We're so happy you're here with us!
Oh man, that had me tearing up, too. I'm pretty emotional as it is, but the pg hormones have kicked everything into high gear.
So, not only do I have early morning waking, I now have insomnia. I think I slept about 4 hours last night
The only book I have is the big, fat Mayo Clinic book you can get free from State Farm. Honestly, I don't even know if I will buy any books. I can borrow What To Expect from my sister and any others I'll check out from the Library. Like I said, my only goal right now is to make it to the second trimester. Maybe after that I'll feel differently.
Prenatal History visit this afternoon! I can't wait. I'm hoping they will bump up my first visit a few weeks.

Hi guys! you'll have to forgive me, it's bee a long time sine I've been a part of a group, and doing replies are just a little beyond me right now, but I'll try!
Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome! I am beyond excited to be here!! I still can't believe I am finally pregnant! I can't wait to hear back about my blood test either, and hear the beautiful numbers! (cause they will be beautiful, if I have to write them myself ;) lol)
I am super thrilled to see so many familiar faces in here :)
Jenn! I just can't believe you're here! I am giddy withe xcitement that we get to do this together too! I also dropped off WC in the end, i'm mostly on LJ, but i figured this place will be good for my baby obsession ;)
QOTD - i've been collecting pg books for 2 years, so I have quite the supply. I brought them out yesterday and loved reading them. I have:
Belly Laughs
the Mayo book
What to expect
the pregnancy calendar
a random preg. journal
Girlfriend's guide
as well as wuite a few on infertility and high-risk pregnancies. I have a few good fiction ones too, my fav being "Diary of a mad mom-to-be" which I have read a gazillion times and will re-read today! Def. a must read if you want somethign light and fluffy.

....please forgive an intrusion from a Nov 05 Mommie to be....
....but Alanna (Lana from WC TTC w/ charting thread) mentioned in our thread that she'd seen Red_Canuck join up over here and I had to come and say CONGRATULATIONS!! That's wonderful! And I noticed a few other TTC w/ charting names on the members list, aprilshowers and Elenitsa and probably others, also, wonderful news! With all the board confusion in the last few weeks I haven't been following the TTC w/ charting thread, but I'm so happy to see all those BFPs! Congratulations to all the new mommies in this thread!

Woohoo! Welcome red and shannon!! I'm so happy for you guys!
Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome and congrats!
red, I think it depends on how close you are to the boyfriend and what you feel comfortable doing. Obviously he'll get the news too w/ your mom's gift so it's just a matter of whether you want or you think he'd expect something separate for him too.
honey_bee, you totally had me bawling too. Thanks for posting.
elenitas, B6 is supposed to help w/ m/s. My nurse told me to take 50mg twice a day. Hope the switch helps you feel better!
MIPG, the u/s tech said it was measuring 6w1d. I had pegged it to be 6w2d based on my ovulation date so it definitely wouldn't have been more than that. In case I haven't congratulated you already, congrats! It is great to see you in here!
ajb, how are you doing? I hope the spotting has stopped. Has the doctor given you any indication as to what might be causing it? Sending positive vibes your way...
tunibell, I'm so sorry the moms behaved badly. I especially can't believe your MIL would say what she said. I am sure they will eventually come around but for now just focus on how excited you and your DH are and the wonderful memories you're making together.
Okay, I don't know which QOTD is which anymore but let me see if I can cover them all:
--I live in Boston though am originally from NJ.
--Not considering a midwife. I love the concept but I am such a wimp when it comes to pain and I know I'm going to be a nervous wreck anyway so I think I'll be most comfortable in a hospital (as much as it pains me to say that).
--I am apparently way behind in the book department since I have nothing except "Your Vegetarian Pregnancy" which I picked up after my first pg last year. Haven't reread any of it yet this time. I will probably wait until after the first tri to really get into pregnancy books.
--Haven't subscribed to any pg magazines - not sure whether I will or not.
Hope you all are having a great day!

QOTDs:
-I live in a suburb of Kansas City (on the Kansas side)
-At this point, I'm not considering a m/w
-I just ordered subscriptions to American Baby and Parenting last month(although I've only received 1 issue of Parenting thus far and 0 issues of AB)
-I have the Mayo Clinic book but haven't really looked through it all that much yet, other than to find out my due date according to their chart. I just ordered the 2005 ed. of Baby Bargains from half.com so I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. That's all I have so far in the area of books.

Hi all! I’m so happy to see this thread expanding. Lots of March mommies!
Congrats Junk! That is AWESOME news!!! So happy for you!:D
tunibell – I am a pretty regular exerciser and would like to keep it up throughout PG (Although I wish I would have lost a bit more weight before PG but I slacked off:)) I walk every day (at least 30-45 minutes). I usually do yoga a few times a week so I’d like to get some good prenatal yoga DVDs (or classes). I’d also like to hear about any other workout dvds, etc. if anyone knows of any good ones. I have an elliptical that I use a lot but I haven’t since finding out we’re expecting b/c I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Anyone know? Good QOTD!

Yay Junk! It's a great feeling, isn't it? I got my repeat betas back on Tuesday and it was one of the happiest days of my life.
Welcome Red and Shannon
QOTD - I exercised pretty regulary until now (run 16-20 miles a week) but I'm worried about overheating, so I've scaled back the exercise a little. I'm walking now, about 3-4 miles/4 times a week. I jog a little during each walk, and I walk at a decent pace 15min/mile, but I'm not going all out. I'll also do prenatal yoga like I did last time. It's THE BEST! My OB said that it was totally fine to keep running, but it makes me nervous. I did not work out at all with my daughter and I gained a tremendous amount of weight that I had a terrible time getting off. I won't let that happen this time. I figure the walking is something I can do throughout the whole pregnancy. Running would have to stop eventually, I think.

That's fabulous news Junk! (hee I still get a kick out of that) Fingers crossed for Monday's Betas!
qotd I try and walk our dog twice a day for 45-60 min. and we move at a pretty fast clip, but it's been so hot out lately I haven't gotten two walks in. I think I'd like to try prenatal yoga, but would have to do it from DVDs.

congratulations Junk! I don't knwo if you remember or not, but was it you who I talke dto on LJ about 4 months ago about having to go BCP's to reduce our cysts? Well, we said we'd check up on each other, so I guess we have So happy for you :D
QOTD - I exercise daily by doing 45 minutes of aqaufit and 15 minutes of laps. I love it, and will continue to do it through the pgncy. it's too much fun to give up :D
-Also, I live just west of Toronto, Ontario
-Still deciding mw/ob, but will probably go ob because i like the extra medical reassurance.

07-14-2005, 12:22 PM
Yay Lisa !!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!!! That is absolutely wonderful news!!! :D :D
Excercising: I'll be the first to admit I'm not a consistent exceriser. I belong to Curves but I've slacked off recently. I was kinda scared to go during the 2ww as I didn't want to "bump" any implantation loose (I know that's not really possible but I wanted to take every precaution necessary!) I'll probably start going again within the next day or two. I've heard there's a heartrate that pg women are not supposed to exceed while excercising...do any of you know what that rate is?
tunibell
07-14-2005, 12:29 PM
Regarding the heart rate restrictions: you'll read in a lot of places that it is 140, but apparently that is a totally unproven figure. And as anyone who exercises regularly can tell you, 140 is not exactly pushing yourself. A better indicator is rate of perceived exhaustion - as i understand it, exercise should me moderately hard during pregnancy, and you should never get to a state of breathlessness.
I say all of this with confidence but must admit I've been scared of my treadmill ever since the first HPT+. I have to do something soon though - I've gained 1.2 lbs since Monday (assuming a lot of that is bloat, but still). I've been trying very hard to follow the eating guidelines from Eating Well When You Are Expecting, but it's a lot of food for someone my size (5'1")!
Completely off-topic, but...is anyone else but me ridiculously excited that Harry Potter 6 is coming out tomorrow night? I might be so engrossed that I forget to worry all weekend!

WOW this thread has moved so fast!
Welcome to everyone new! I can't believe there are so many of us March mommies!
Just wanted to update on my UTI, took 3 doses of antibiotics yesterday and 2 so far today and I feel much better! YAY :)
QOTDs:
books, well since DS is only 11 months I am still pretty current but I am using my what to expect again as well as my week by week guide to see what the bean is up to. I do recommend the baby bargains book, it helped me to realize that I didn't have to buy everything in the store!
MW/OB, again since its my 2nd DC I am sticking with my same OB that I had for DS. I would love to go to a MW but there aren't any near by, plus since DS was breech and was a scheduled c-section I may be having another section which would necessitate an OB
exercise, I try to take DS on a walk every day or now that we bought a bike trailer I try to take a bike ride daily. But DS gets antsy now that he is crawling/walking so the longest I can contain him for a walk/ride is about 25/30 minutes

First of all - I'm so happy and relieved for you Junk. That is awesome news, congrats!
ShannonGH - Welcome and congrats! You are so freaking lucky to have a friend who is an ultrasound tech. Does that mean you can sneak in and get them more often?! Your DH's birthday and announcement to him is just perfect. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
March mommas, we are gonna rock this house DOWN!
I totally agree with this Red! :D
Re: Exercise - I am the worst exerciser ever - as in I don't do any. Unfortunately exercise has taken a backburner to my work over the last 3 years and I've gained about 15 lbs since my wedding. I want to have a healthy pregnancy so I bought those prenatal DVD's and I am determined to do them. I really hate the idea of gaining extra weight, but I guess it is inevitable huh?

Wow! Congrats, junk! That is what mine was on 15DPO so you are passing with flying colors (this was 13DPO, right?)! When do you get your first u/s?
QOTD, my main form of exercise these days is moving from my bed to my desk to the couch. I'm hoping the m/s goes away soon so I can get back to the gym where I will do the elliptical, treadmill, weights and yoga (my pre-pg workout). Both my doctor and a trainer at my gym (who had just had a child) said that there is no reason to limit exercise at this point. I have heard the rule of limiting your heartrate to 140 but have read elsewhere that it is 150 (and doc said no need to limit at all). The only thing you have to worry about is if you're working out outside and it is really hot out. Also, always make sure you're well-hydrated even if it isn't hot.
I feel like my muscles are congealing... :(

HSSweethearts, yes I am VERY lucky to have a friend that's an u/s tech! She's all about me coming in whenever and getting an ultrasound. The only bad part is that her office is 35 minutes away so it's not like I can just drop in whenever I want. That's actually a good thing (or she'd probably be sick of me ;) )
aprilshowers, I'm so sorry that you're having such bad m/s. I hope you feel better soon. {{{{{Hugs}}}}

QOTD - I've been on exercise restrictions because of the IVF cycle, and it has been driving me crazy. I was told I could exercise lightly if I kept my heart rate down between 110-120 - which is pretty darn difficult. I've been alternating between walking outside and on the treadmill at the gym, where I can monitor my heart rate. I also bought a pre natal yoga DVD, which is pretty good (I'm not really a yoga person though). I'm looking forward to having these restrictions lifted, although if I am having twins - I doubt I will really be allowed to start running again. (But it will be well worth it!)
Completely off-topic, but...is anyone else but me ridiculously excited that Harry Potter 6 is coming out tomorrow night? I might be so engrossed that I forget to worry all weekend!
Yes!!! I am looking forward to moving the pregnancy books aside to make room for Harry!

Hi ladies! Junk Great news on the BETAs! I hope they skyrocket!!!
QOTD re: location - Northern NJ
QOTD I have been pretty lame on the fitness, b/c of a lower back issue that technically should be greater reason for me to work out. Mostly I ride an excercise bike, even if rather lazily just to get the muscle stronger and a few stretching excercises. I really must get more disciplined about doing all of it becuase I know it will have a big impact on my pregnancy.
M/s is not present today. I really think the vitamins have major impact on it. Thanks aprilshowers for the tip on B6.
I'm so peeved. I did find a few midwives who practice in my area, i haven't made any appointments, but apparently I need to get a referral from a primary to see a midwife, but not for ob-gyn. Isn't that one of the more silly insurance red tape scenerios... Managed health care is SO wonderful! Can you smell the sarcasm??
Bernie

Good morning!
Just got back from my RE appointment - everything looked good! Two sacs each measuring 6w1d - which is exactly where we should be. Then we got to see and hear the heartbeats! It was absolutely amazing - I didn't cry, but my eyes definitely welled up a bit.
Here are the little guys:

I'm sure that in three days I will be panicking again, but it is nice to know that at least for now, everything is okay.
Good luck to everyone else who has appointments today!

Wow Bernie, that is just so awe-inspiring to see 2 in there! I could not imagine! I know what you mean though about not worry now that you have seen them. I am still worrying and waiting for the results of my bloodwork to come in so I can schedule and ultrasound to date my PG.
Elenitsa that seems truly ridiculus that you need a referral for a MW but not OB...gotta love the insurance companies!
tunibell Yup, we have the Harry Potter on pre-order so we can get it at 12:01am and we get a 40% off discount for pre-ordering! I can't wait to read it, I probably will spend the weekend reading it and I don't think I will be on the computer much.
ShannonGH So are you going to wait for your DR to tell you the sex or are you going to have your friend see if she can tell you? OOh, you could do both and see if both your friend and the Dr say that it is the same sex (kind of a double check)!
aprilshowers I am so sorry for your M/S but when you do feel better, I would say work with your trainer as much as possible...I really wish I had focused more on maintaining my strength and working out, I think if I had I wouldn't have had to been on bedrest for the end of my PG.
mom2amelia I am in northeastern PA just south of Wilkes-Barre (which is just south of Scranton). My mom is a labor/delivery nurse in Cleveland. She just took a job with a law firm but prior to that she was working at the Cleveland Clinic. Do you know where you will be delivering? She has worked at almost all of the hospitals in Cleveland in the past 30 years so if you need any questions answered I can see if my mom could help!
Well at this point, I don't even feel PG! I haven't been ill, haven't been bloated, haven't been anything! If I didn't still have the sticks I peed on sitting in my bathroom, I don't think I would believe that I am PG. Although, this is how I started with my DS so I am trying not to worry, but its really hard when you are waiting for bloodwork to come back and you haven't had an ultrasound or anything its hard to believe that I am actually PG!!

I am delivering at Hillcrest. I delivered DD there too. Which law firm does your mom work for? I'm an attorney and so is DH. We both work downtown.
I cannot keep up with this thread. Insane! :)
Books: I have an embarrassing number of pregnancy books (and birthing books). I went on three book-buying splurges over the past 1 1/2 years (first, when I started TTC way back when, because I was optimistic, then, when I was pregnant the first time (miscarriage), and finally, with this latest pregnancy).
I'm not including the IVF-related books, because I peeked through those and then returned them to the store. :D
-Baby Bargains (reading it now)
-Twins! Pregnancy, Birth, and the First Year of Life (Agnew)
-The Pregnancy Book (Dr. Sears)
-Your Over 35 Week-by-Week Pregnancy Guide (Shanahan)
-The Mother of All Pregnancy Books (Douglas)
-The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy (Iovine)
-the Mayo Clinic Book
-When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads (Dr. Luke)
-Windy City Baby: the Insider's Guide to Raising Kids in Chicago (Trombley)
And from memory (they're not in front of me):
-The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth
-Giving Birth the Bradley Way
-Birthing from Within
...and I think there are more (I think I hid some in our basement when my in-laws were visiting, before we told them we were pg).
Magazines: I had a terrible (and very well-documented) bridal magazine addiction way back when (I bought magazines from other countries, in addition to back issues of the ones available here). I fear what's gonna happen to me with pregnancy magazines. So far, I've bought about eight of them .... and haven't been very impressed. They basically repeat the same stuff and then show off cute $400 diaper bags. So hopefully I won't develop the same addiction to pregnancy mags that I had to bridal mags. (After all, the reason I loved bridal mags so much was because I was always looking for new ideas for the wedding......I don't really need any new ideas about growing a baby :D).
I don't plan to subscribe, but if I know me I'll probably buy whatever's in the grocery store every month (but won't get to the point of ordering back issues!)
Exercise: Before the IVF process, I was pretty good about exercise (I haven't run in a year or so because I stopped taking osteo-arthritis drugs when I started TTC, but I did hit the gym a couple of times a week and walked frequently). Not only was my exercise restricted during the IVF process, but I felt pretty crappy by the end and had no interest in even walking anywhere.
I have tried -- for the last week -- to get back to taking brisk walks every evening. No, it's not ideal, but right now I feel queasy most of the day and am frankly too afraid to go to the gym. I'd like to add some freeweight workouts to that routine - maybe I'll start today! :)
I'm sure I've already gained weight with this pregnancy (I ate like a horse last week). I've purposely kept my eyes off the scale when I go to the doctor's office (I don't own a scale at home), and asked the nurse not to tell me. I gained about 15-20 lbs. during the four months I was on Clomid (and probably a little more during the IVF cycle), so I know I was already heavier than I'd like to be BEFORE I got pregnant, and it's hard not to get upset/depressed about that. So I just ignore it, and continue to eat pretty healthily (I'm not much of a junk food junkie and never have been) and fuhgettaboutit.
And now just a couple of quick shout-outs:
Welcome to Red and Shannon! Congratulations to you both!
Congratulations Lisa aka junk!!! That's the greatest feeling in the world, no? Why are they doing repeat-repeats? Cuz of your history?
Bernie, that *is* a beautiful ultrasound! I hope to see a similar one (I'm 7 weeks today) in a few hours! Congratulations!
aprilshowers, thanks for the info re: your ultrasound. Hmmm.....maybe I mis-calculated my due date? Must check with doctor today. Regardless, that is STILL one heck of a beautiful ultrasound!!!! Congratulations!

mom2amelia My DH and his 2 brothers were all delivered at Hillcrest. My mom never worked at that hospital.
My mom now works at
Becker & Mishkind Co., L.P.A.

Elyria, OH 44035
But I think they also have an office downtown too? She is working there as a nurse legal assistant or something, they also have a Dr on staff too I believe.

Kathleen, I'll definitely have my friend tell me the sex as early as she can. That's a great idea to double-check her prediction with the Dr's though!
I'm going in at 3:00 this afternoon for my first u/s (with my friend, not an acctual Dr's appt). I will be 4weeks tomorrow which I know is SUPER early but I hope we can at least see a mega-tiny dot for some reassurance because I don't feel pg at all. It would at least give me some peace of mind.
I'm telling Dh tonight!!! I'm so excited!!! :D

Bernie that's a beautiful u/s!!
I was feeling positive about everything until I had my prenatal visit. That all went all right, but afterwards I started reading all the info they gave me and started to get scared. I was pretty down last night and started telling myself to expect the worst again. I'm feeling a little more upbeat today, thankfully. These hormones are going to kill me with these mood swings!

Me: Amy, 29
DH: Chris, 35
Married: 6/21/03
TTC: 9/03
BFP: 7/13/05
EDD: 3/22/06
I am so nervous and excited to be here :D. We have been TTC
for quite some time, and have had one ectopic pregnancy using injectables.
After a laparoscopy they discovered that I lack the musculature along the
tubes that propels the egg into the uterus! So we conceived this miracle via
our first IVF cycle! My beta came back positive at 14 days post retrieval (I
was to excited when they called today and forgot the exact number but I
think it was somewhere around 146). I go in for a repeat beta tomorrow. I
think I will start to breathe a little easier once I see the numbers rise
appropriately, and that this baby is in the right place! Im going to read
back through and try to answer some QOTD's but here is what I remember:
Where I'm from: Virginia Beach, VA! DH is in the Navy so we will
be moving sometime next year to who knows where!
Exercising: Im kind of like Bernie, Ive been on restrictions from
the IVF, so I havent been doing much other than walking the dog. I do hope
to get back into swimming and riding my bike at some point!

AmyChris03 - Congratulations! I hope everything goes well with your repeat beta tomorrow!
Thanks for all of the lovely compliments on the u/s! My DH thinks it looks like a smushed pig's nose - I'm finding it hard to shake that image now.
Hope everyone is having a good Friday!

Welcome Amy! Congrats!!!
Bernie - Those are some beautiful beautiful twins. How wonderful.
tunibell - I was going to wait to borrow the new Harry Potter from someone because I'm too cheap to buy it in hardback. But now I realize I should have snuck it into my Amazon order as a pregnancy need/expense. ;)
kdotp - Did they move up your date? I'm glad to hear the appointment went well and that you are feeling more upbeat today. I know it is the toughest thing to do in your situation, but do try to send your body as many positive energy vibes as possible. I'm a firm believer that the mind can sometimes dramatically influence the body. I hope this first trimester goes quickly for you and all of us!
MIPG - Which of those books were your favorites? Have you read them all yet?
Well at this point, I don't even feel PG! I haven't been ill, haven't been bloated, haven't been anything! If I didn't still have the sticks I peed on sitting in my bathroom, I don't think I would believe that I am PG. ...its really hard when you are waiting for bloodwork to come back and you haven't had an ultrasound or anything its hard to believe that I am actually PG!!
ce_Kathleen - I could have written this myself! Except that I won't even get a bloodtest before my first appointment. :(
So, I don't know why but I have the sneaking suspicion that my sister can sense that I am pregnant. We went to New York together over the July 4 holiday weekend and on one of the days I completely lost energy and was wiped out. She kept telling me that I was "not myself". I'm not really sure if my low energy levels that day had anything to do with anything, but now she's been calling me almost every day asking me how I'm doing and if anything is new. I am a pretty good liar and actress so I just tell her everything is the same - nothing is new.
I was thinking that her asking me so much was just a coincidence until I got this email from her today. She rarely sends me forwards and this is all it said:
Subject: Quote of the Day
Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.
-Elizabeth Stone
This has convinced me that she suspects something. It is just too much of a coincidence. I didn't reply to the email, but now I feel really guilty about holding things back from her. :(

HSSweethearts Don't feel guilty! DH and I have decided to wait until we get some confirmation from the Dr to tell anyone. We may even wait until after the first tri to tell people just b/c we are so far from family and we will all see eachother in Oct so we may tell everyone then...otherwise we have to call everyone to tell them and then someone feels left out b/c they weren't #1 on the list!!!
Welcome amychris03!
QOTD:
have you told people yet and who have you told?
Well I obviously told my DH and then you guys on CC and I think I mentioned on the WC too. We aren't telling any family or anything for a few weeks. I am actually kind of scared to tell people b/c I think I am going to get negative comments for having my kids so close together! We really wanted our kids 20-30 months apart and they will be 19 but I just don't think my family is going to be very supportive. :(

Welcome Amy. I hope your numbers soar.
qotd other than my LJ friends and here, we've told my mom and step-dad and my DH's parents. We haven't told my dad yet because everytime I call I get the answering machine and he hasn't called back yet. We will tell our siblings once we see a heartbeat and we'll tell the rest of the world after the first trimester. We haven't told our DD yet because we're afraid she'll spill the beans to the rest of the world (she's 2). I guess we haven't been hush hush enough about it around her because today she told our nanny that mommy was having a baby. Little stinker. The nanny thought she was kidding, so we're safe for now.
Kathleen - I don't feel pregnant yet either. I'm pretty sure the syptoms didn't start for me last time until I was about 6 weeks.

Don't feel guilty! I just flat out lied to my MIL when she asked if I had tested
yet. She knows we go in for a blood test Monday, but we didnt tell her I got
a +HPT and went in for testing early. I figure we can have 3 betas by then
and at least see that the levels rise before telling anyone right?
qotd
Well, so far only Chris and I know, but we will probably
tell our family and few friends that knew we were doing
the IVF next week, because they know we did it and will
be expecting an answer... Other than that, I think we
will wait for a while. Probably until the we get released
from our RE at least...

Welcome amychris03 and congrats on your little miracle!
QOTDs
I'm trying really hard to walk briskly at least 30 minutes a day and enjoy the fresh air while I still can. When the weather turns cold again (which happens very soon here) I have an elliptical machine that I'll use for 30 minutes a day. It's pretty much the same routine I had pre-pregnancy, so nothing new and exiting.
As of yesterday morning, only dh and I (and of coarse, you all) knew about the baby. Unfortunately since then, I had to tell my boss, one co-worker and the HR manager because some of my current job requirements posed a potential risk that needed to be changed and avoided asap! I hate that the first people I told weren't my family. I just felt it was necessary and DH supported me all the way, so that made me feel better. I'm just itching to tell my parents and sister, only three more weeks to wait :( Hope I can make it that long...
Wishing all you lovely ladies a very happy Friday and wonderful weekend.

qotd I've told DH, you guys, my LJ friends, one of sisters and my manager (I felt she needed to know in case I needed to take some time off or something happened again). I don't know when we'll start telling people -- probably after our first official Dr's appointmet.
No, HSSweethearts they didn't move my appointment up. :( I totally feel you on the positive thinking, sometimes it's just really hard!
Saw two beautiful flickering heartbeats this afternoon on ultrasound. :D If I didn't feel so icky, it would've been far more exciting. Instead, all I kept thinking was, "That's great; now I just want to go home and lie down."
It's strange; when I actually find something I could "handle" eating (meaning it appeals to me, even slightly), I usually find that I love it and have a couple (pickles, hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese are the current faves). But getting me to actually think about eating is the hard part.
And it's also funny how I'll only eat things that are really salty -- the thought of sweet things make my stomach turn. I certainly don't have to worry about high blood pressure, so if it's salty I want, it's salty I'm going to eat!
Welcome (over here), amychris. Wow - I saw your post in the IVF thread that your beta was in the mid-140s, but I had no idea that was only 14 days post retrieval! I know HCG isn't a great indicator, but be forewarned: my beta was 92.5 at 10dp3dt, and I've got two in there. ;)
QOTD: we've known for three weeks (today!) that we're pregnant. We told our parents and siblings about a week to week and a half later. My mother (father is deceased) and sister, plus my in-laws, all came to visit on July 3, so we told them then. I think I already posted how we told them, but basically we gave them frames with "Reserved for Baby OurLastname" in the picture slot. I sent the rest of my siblings a card in the mail a few days later, once we'd seen the sacs on ultrasound. I didn't mention the "twins" possibility to any of them, however.
I just learned that my mother has already told three of her friends (evidently she didn't interpret "we're only telling family now" with "that means you can't tell anyone else" ), but other than that, we've kept it to just family. (Well, except for y'all and the ladies on the IVF thread, one of whom I know IRL). Oh, and the carpet cleaner guy a couple of weeks ago -- I told him b/c I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything unsafe in the carpet cleaner. Hee hee.
Anyway, that's all about to change tonight. My DH is going to tell two of his best friends (from college), and next week I'm going to tell a couple of mine. Now that we've seen the heartbeats, I don't feel so scared about telling a few friends, but we'll still keep it under wraps from the rest of the world until we're out of the first trimester.
I definitely NEED to tell other people, because right now my DH is the one who has to put up with all my complaining! I need to spread the love!!! ;)

Congratulations on hearing the twin heartbeats MIPG?!! That's really exciting :D
So I went for my blood draw today, but won't hear the numbers until monday. Of course this means I'm still peeing on sticks to keep my mind at ease and convince myself this isn't some crazy cosmic joke :D I'm feeling sooo tired though. I crashed last night at 9:30, and I just got up from a 4 hour nap :0
QOTD - My best friend knows (she's an embryologist, so i couldn't keep it form her, she can sniff out a preggo in a crowd!), as does hubby and you guys. that's it! We're going to the cottage this weekend to tell my mom and her bf, and then next week i'll tell my other bf. IL's will probably be in 2 weeks or so.

Can I join?
I've been lurking since I got my BFP but I didn't want to joing until we saw the heart beat yesterday with a heart rate of 111!!!! Talk about relief, now hopefully we'll continue to have smooth sailing until March 7th!

Due - 3-7-06
Not sure if I included everything there, I can't remember what else was needed! Matt and I were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and I'd been on clomid for 10 cycles... the last medicated ones were IUI's (both unsuccessful). The cycle I got my BFP on was cycle 29 and it was totally unmedicated, just doin' it the old fashioned way and it finally worked!!!
CONGRATS to all the March mommas!!!! It's SO good to see MIPG?, Red, AmyChris, Junk, April, etc over here... I've been following your stories for so long!!
QOTH: I'm originally from Northeast NJ but moved to Manchester, NH 9 years ago.
QOTH: We've told my sister and a good friend who both were huge advocates while we were going through our infertility issues. My IL's we'll tell when I'm 8 weeks and work and friends probably 9 or 10 weeks.
QOTH: We're not planning on finding out the baby's gender.
So glad to be here ladies!!!

MIPG, yay for a heartbeat!!!! How exciting?!?! I can't wait till I can hear mine for the first time!
HSSweethearts, it definitely sounds like your sis is on to something! Did she know you were trying?
Well I went in for my u/s with my friend and it was pretty discouraging. Not only did we not really see a dot (which I was halfway prepared for since I am SO early-she did find something that could *potentially* turn into a dot), but she also found some fluid in my abdomen (in between my muscles) that shouldn't be there. Like 380 cubic cm of fluid! She was questioning what it could be so she asked the Dr that works there to come in and take a look but he wasn't quite sure either  . The possibilities that were mentioned were a ruptured cyst or endometriosis. The dr asked if I have ever had any pain and I haven't so that's what's so odd. They both (the dr. and u/s tech) think the fluid was there before I got pg. They both encouraged me to try to get into my ob sooner than 8/12 (when my appt is currently scheduled for). So that's when I started to worry :( So now I just have to wait till monday to try to get in sooner.
To top it off, last night was when I was going to tell Dh and I was in no mood to be all happy after finding out the news above. It just wasn't the joyous occassion that I had anticipated because I had to follow up "I think I'm pg" with "but there's this 380cc of unidentified fluid in my abdomen." :(
Edited to correct the fluid amount.

Hi Guys -- long time no post -- I can't believe how enormous this thread has gotten!!
I've been very paranoid about m/c'ing -- I'm kinda scared to post. I can't wait till I get my 3rd BETA tomorrow (we've had 3 prior losses so she's doing a few extra BETAS on me) and ultrasound next week.
As of today, we're at 4w3d which is really early and since I have NO symptoms, I'm freaking out mildly. My birthday was yesterday so DH and I prayed all day this is the last birthday either of us will have to spend childless. Oy, is this ever hard!! :)
Anyhow, I've missed a TON of the QOTD's -- let my try to fill them in:
1. I'm from Los Angeles, CA, originally NJ
2. Planning on prenatal yoga as soon as I get the OK from the OB
3. We haven't told anyone IRL yet -- just my "virtual" friends -- we won't tell until we get heartbeat, Houston! Actually, one of virtual turned IRL friends found out via this messageboard.
4. We (as of this moment) also are going with the old fashioned, don't find out the sex until s/he is born.
And I want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to all the awesome girls from the other messageboard who have followed my story and the stories of the other girls who have such a hellish time TTC. I am so happy that so many of us got pregnant at the same time -- it makes things so cozy warm and nice!!
I am tossing out bucket loads of sticky dust to everyone, pray that doubling betas abound and the beautiful flicker of tiny heartbeats sparkle on ultrasounds for all of us!!!
Cheers to everyone!

tunibell- I've had spotting like that for a week now. I was a little freaked out at first, but when I called the doc he said about 1/3 of women have bleeding throughout their pregnancy (and I thought I had gotten rid of a period for 9 months ;) ). He said as long as the cramping or bleeding didn't get worse to not worry about it. Mine keeps coming and going now. Sometimes it's pinkish red and sometimes it's brown. HOpe that's not TMI. But to be on the safe side you might want to just give the doc a call and let them know what's going on. They may want you in to have an ultrasound like I did.

Brown or pink is always better than red and as long as it's not accompanied by cramping, it's *usually* nothing to worry about. Keep an eye on it and call your Doc tomorrow. It could be more implantation spotting, it could be that your cervix is irritated (have you DTD in the past few days?), it could be nothing. But definitely call tomorrow and at least let them know you were spotting.

MIPG - Yay for two fluttering heartbeats!
tunibell - I'm sending tons of positive thoughts your way that your spotting is nothing to worry about.
ShannonGH - No one in my family knows I'm trying, but they may suspect that we are getting close to it. Anyway, I'm so so sorry your announcement didn't go as planned. If it is in fact anything to be concerned about, you are so lucky to have caught it so early. I hope you get to see your doctor soon so that you can get this figured out.
Welcome and congrats Christy5599!
Nothing new in my world except that I finally felt a few symptoms over the weekend. Slightly sore BB's, exhaustion (took LONG naps on both Sat and Sun) and I suddenly feel like eating all the time. I swear I've already gained weight too. :( think I'm going to be one of those women who gain a ton of weight in the first trimester.

Hey ladies. Well, I told my mom this weekend. That was fun.:) So far she is the only person IRL that knows and it was very weird to say it out loud. We’ll wait to tell everyone else until after the doctor appt. plus DH wants to wait and tell his family when they are all together which won’t happen until at least sometime in August.
I can’t believe how scared I am all the time that something is wrong! I hope this gets easier as the PG goes along. I know the 1st trimester is critical and I can’t wait for it to pass cause I am so terrified. I hope it goes faster than this day by day dragging. I also don’t have extreme symptoms and that makes me scared. I just want a few weeks to pass at least. It is so early in the game for me I can’t help being worried.
The more I read What to expect, the more I realized that it was partly to blame for scaring me. The book is full of great information, but it was giving too many “worst case scenario” type situations. So, after reading probably half of it at least, I returned it and got The Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregancy. This is much better. Light, fluffy and fun (so far).:)
Shannon – Sorry about your scare! Good luck getting into your OB faster. Keep us informed, and think positive thoughts.:) BTW, I just realized that you & I are on exactly the same schedule with this PG. (I started week 5 on Saturday)
Welcome AmyChris and Christy5599. Congrats!:D
MIPG – Congrats on the successful doctor’s visit!
Junk – Good luck with betas today. Can’t wait to hear the good results!:)

HI everyone!
tuni how are you today? Any updates?
So we told my mom on Saturday ngiht, and it went fabulously. Better than I could have wished, she was so happy :D Next on our list are dh's parents, but it might be awhile until we can get them both together as FIL travels a great deal. Rob will call tonight to see when we can go home to visit them :)
Other than that, nothing really to say! I've been really tired, but that's about it. I still can't believe it every time those 2 lines come up on my tests. (and yes, i am still takign them!) I hear back about my beta today, so I'm excited for that!
Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Okay, I'm taking a deep breath and diving in...I'd like to join. Heck, I've been lurking long enough!
Name: Heidi/29
DH: Mike/29
TTC: 03/04
Treatments: 50mg of Clomid this cycle and I had acupuncture for the past 3 months
M/C: 10/04 at 5.5wks
BFP: 7/12/05
EDD: 3/22/06
Guess on the sex: BOY (no clue why!)
After 17 months of TTC, we are more than thrilled to be here, but also a little terrified. I had a previous m/c, but things are so totally different this time, I am trying to put that out of my mind.
I have taken 3 HPTs and had 2 blood tests. My 14DPO betas were 93 and 16DPO betas were 283, so the numbers more than tripled. So, while it is still VERY early and I am still VERY nervous, things are looking as good as they can at this point.
I go in for my first u/s on Friday 7/22 at 5w2d. They are looking for a sac at that point. I then go in for u/s #2 in 2wks where they are looking for the hb. After that, I will be released from my RE and sent to an OB.
Here are some my answers to QOTDs that have been posed lately.
QOTD location: I live in the NW suburbs of Chicago
QOTD symptoms Not many...my bbs are sore, but not unbearable. I've felt tired, but actually have not been sleeping well at night...too much going through my mind. No symptoms are constant all the time and I go back and forth between trying to tell what is a real symptom and what I am creating in my head.
QOTD telling: We told my parents and ILs last night together. I was hesitant to tell them so early, but my ILs were in town this weekend and my parents were over for dinner and we thought it would be really special to tell the 4 of them together as it is the first grandchild on both sides. All were thrilled, which was wonderful, but I just felt nervous. I guess I'm just scared now of letting them down after getting them all so excited. I'm working on my positive thinking. In any case, I couldn't have asked for better reactions from them all. I have a family vacation in a few weeks and will probably tell most of the rest of the family then. I also will probably spill the beans to a few friends in the next month or so if I see them in person. Otherwise, we do not plan on really spreading the news until after the 1st trimester.
QOTD exercise: I am not the greatest at exercising, but I do love to swim, so I going to do that throughout the pregnancy. I also have been taking yoga classes at our Y...just once every few weeks though, so I will continue to go to that. I'm sure at some point, I will find a prenatal yoga class to sign up for.
QOTD sex: It will kill me, but we're not planning to find out.
QOTD dr. I am going to look into seeing a MW. I have to do a little more research on what my insurance will cover. I was not crazy about my OB, so in either case, I will be finding a new dr.
That is all for now. I am thrilled to be here with all of you, especially some of the other "old-timers" whose journeys I have followed closely: Red, Christy559, MIPG, AmynChris, Aprilshowers, etc..

How are you doing today? Did you call the dr or has the spotting
gone away? Hoping all is well in there ;)
HSSweethearts
my symptoms seemed to hit this weekend too, including the exhaustion.
I swear I was yawning non stop. In fact, its only 10 and I could already
go for a nap ;)
JennW
That's exactly why I havent bought What to expect, and after reading
your post, I think I may steer clear of it. I think it would make me
too nervous (and I am scared enough as it is)! Glad you were able to tell
your mom this weekend. Im sure it makes it more "real."
red_canuck
Hope you get great beta results today!:) Ive still been testing too, just
to make sure its still positive ;)
Congratulations and Welcome (over here) heidi0622!
---
Not much going on here. I got my second beta results back from Saturday.
First of all, the beta on Thursday was 166, not 146! I was close-
I have such a bad memory! My second one was 299, which didnt quite double, but it wasnt quite 48 hours between testing (it was 44). My dr seems
to think the numbers are fine and nothing to worry about, since they are
supposed to double every 48-72 hours, I just like to be a perfectioninst ;) I
should get my third results back today!
I am starting to feel symptoms too, that I am now allotting to the pregnancy
and not the progesterone that I am on. I too, have been EXHAUSTED, I feel
like I am constantly yawning. My bb's are also getting more sore. I feel a
little queasy every now and then - usually if its been a while since Ive eaten
and I am really hungry, or right after I've eaten.
Question(not really a QOTD beacuse it only applies to me): I am in
a wedding on August 13th and I still havent gotten my dress altered. I
guess Im going to have to do it soon huh- just because I definitely need
the length altered. The other area where the dress is big is in the chest.
I dont know what to do about this because I feel like they may grow between
now and then (they already have a little bit). Any thoughts/Suggestions?

Morning all,
Welcome to all the new additions to the thread!!!
I had to come by here is gush a little this am. DH and I got the coolest news over the weekend. My SIL conned us into checkout some email joke that she had sent, only to discover her sonagram and She's pregnant too! We hadn't yet told anyone, but figured it was a good time to spill the beans! We are 3 weeks apart as per our EDD and I couldn't be more excited!!!
Tuni Hope your spotting goes away quickly. Keep us updated!!!

well, it's hard to figure out because of my pcos, but i think anywhere from 4 weeks to 5 weeks. i'm having an ultrasound to date it better :)
or, in chart talk, anywhere between 14 DPO and 21 DPO :D

Still spotting a little, but it is very light and exclusively dark brown. Not even enough to make it to a pantyliner - just when I wipe (TMI, I'm sure). I haven't had any cramping, other than the light on-and-off cramping I've had the entire time, so I feel a little better today. I gave my OB a quick call, and am expecting a call back to find out what the protocol is now - come in or wait and see.

Congrats Red.
Welcome Heidi.
Amychris - I think those betas sound great, but I totally get why you wish they'd doubled in 44 hours. Remember though, they should double in 48-72 hours, so 48 is really the low end. I'll bet your 3rd betas are great! I can't wait to hear.
tunibell - I hope the spotting has stopped by now. Even though we all know it's common to have spotting in pregnancy, I think we all freak out a little when it happens.
elenitsa - how cool about your SIL. I take it you're close with her?
shannon - sorry about your scare. I hope your doctor will see you sooner now so that you can get to the bottom of this.
MIPG? - I can't remember if I already said congrats on the two heartbeats. How exciting. Congratulations.
Nothing new here. I was very tired this weekend, but I'm not sure if I can chalk that up to pregnancy or a very energetic 2 year old. I napped both days when she did. I was never this tired when I was pg with her. This morning I had the queasies until I ate breakfast. I've felt fine since then, so who knows. I'd like to be a little more symptomatic, but only until I see the heartbeat and then I don't mind being symptom free ;).

Hi everyone. Sorry I have been MIA. It is so hard for me to sit up for very long so while I've been lurking as much as I can I don't get to post much.
Welcome, heidi, amy and Amanda! I'm so happy for you guys! And it is great to have so many "old-timers" around :)
Any how many twins do we have? Cograts, Bernie and MIPG! Beautiful ultrasounds!
kathleen, thanks for the advice on the weight-training. Yeah, I am definitely looking forward to getting back to that. I'm sorry you don't think your family is going to be very supportive about how close in age your kids are. I would love to have kids 19 months apart! My sisters are 18 months apart and they are much closer than I am with either of them.
HSSweethearts, sorry your sister is being so nosy. Is she still asking questions? Did she know you were TTC? After my sisters asked I just told them that if I were to get pregnant and hadn't told them yet then I had a reason for that and that when we were ready to share the news they would be among the first to know. They stopped asking questions after that which was a relief!
MIPG, I'm sorry you're having problems eating too. It sucks, doesn't it? I'm trying to make myself eat every hour bcs I puke if I don't but absolutely nothing appeals! So far the best things I've found are frozen pizza (something I NEVER eat otherwise), mac'n'cheese, cheese quesadilla (noticing a pattern?) and fake chicken noodle soup. I "discovered" graham crackers this morning but not sure how long that is going to last. I am desperate for other filling snacks I can use inbetween meals. I am so sick of saltines :( Oh, DH also just brought home some of those Minute Maid frozen lemonade push-up pops and those are good too.
Shannon, how ya doing? Were you able to get an appt with your doctor? I hope the fluid ends up being nothing. I wouldn't worry too much about only being able to see a dot since you are really really early. At 6wks my embryo was only 4mm so think of how small it is at 4wks.
junk, Happy Birthday! I hope your betas come back nice and high! Is this your last one? I can't wait until you have your ultrasound - I'll be thinking very sticky thoughts for you.
tuni, I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding but as others have said it is probably nothing. Make sure that you are getting plenty of fluids because dehydration can definitely cause spotting. Let us know what your doctor says.
amy, you sound like me with wanting the #'s to double exactly! Totally a perfectionist. But yours sound really good! Let us know what your new results are today! I don't know what to say about the bridesmaid dress. But definitely mention it to the seamstress - she has most likely dealt with the issue before and has an idea of how to handle it. How far along will you be by 8/13?
red, WOW!!! 886 must be some kind of a record!
elenitsa, congrats to your SIL! How fun to have someone IRL to go through this with!
qotd, we've told parents and sisters. Also a couple of friends who we went away with for the 4th of July since there was no hiding the constant nauseau (hm, I really should learn to spell that since I've been using it so much recently!) and my boss who is also a close friend. She will be TTC soon so I'm nervous that I'm going to scare her w/ all my m/s stories.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Holy emotions! Anyone else feeling TOTALLY emotional? For some reason this morning it just struck me and I am feeling so emotional. I am thinking about my childhood memories (sitting here at work looking up my old elementary school, etc.), thinking about the baby and how he/she will soon be in the world and making it’s own childhood memories, thinking about my wonderful husband and my stressful job. I swear I am ready to cry for a million different reasons. Am I weird?
tunibell – Good luck. You’re very smart to keep your eye on it, but I am sure it’s nothing. Keep us updated.
Welcome Heidi!
amychris – Yay for the excellent betas. That is great news. I agree you should talk to the seamstress. I’m sure she has dealt with this before.
Red – Nice betas!!!
Elenitsa – That is awesome about your SIL! It’s going to be exciting in your family for a while.
Mom2amelia – I am very tired too. Those naps sure are nice, aren’t they?
Aprilshowers – So sorry to hear about your sever m/s. I hope you’re better soon. Just think, it’s a good thing that the little one is growing like crazy in there and making you sick (I know, easier said then believed!):)

Welcome to all the new ladies!!! This is awesome that we have such a group going.
JennW I know exactly what you mean about being emotional...this was one of the reasons I suspected I was PG! I got all upset and ended up SCREAMING at DH and then broke into tears and I knew I must be PG b/c that is just so NOT me!!! I was like this with my DS too, crying at the credit card commercials on TV and everything!
aprilshowers Thanks for the encouragement! We had mentally decided that we wanted our kids close together but then when we actually got PG it did scare us!
mom2amelia It sounds like we are having the same symptoms, queasy until breakfast! I totally agree that I don't mind a little reminder that I am PG, at least until I see the heartbeat!
tunibell I am sorry about your spotting...but if it makes you feel any better, I spotted red/brown enough for a pantyliner from weeks 5-8 with my DS and I had no problems. I also had my "normal" cramps during that time like I would have had with my period so at the time I was very worried but it turned out to be nothing. I hope the same is true for you!!! If you are lucky, they may do an ultrasound (or 2) to check and make sure things are OK and its so much fun to have an ultrasound and see that hearbeat!!
Elenitsa That is so cool, do you guys live close together? I can see this making things easier for you, b/c you will have family that can relate to exactly what is going on in your life!!
red_canuck That is awesome on your numbers!!!! Congrats! What a relief that must be!
amychris03 As for your alterations, since you already know you have to get the length altered I would take the dress in so that they can start on the length, but I would tell them your concerns about the bust/waist and see if they can do that right before the wedding (like ~10 before)? I would hope they would be accommidating and it really shouldn't take too long to alter the bodice (as long as its a simple bodice and not layers of tulle or something).
________
Well, I got a call from my OB this morning and they said that my bloodwork came back and everything looks great! I am going in tomorrow morning for an ultrasound!!! Turns out that I would be having an ultrasound no matter what b/c I had a c-section with my DS and they said they do routine ultrasounds on any patient with prior abdominal surgery!!! But I also need to have the PG dated since my cycles were a little wacko when I got PG (I was/am still nursing DS).
QOTD : We will find out the sex if/when we can! We were NOT going to find out for DS but my mom is a labor/delivery nurse and see ultrasounds all the time so as soon as she say the pics I sent her of our ultrasound she knew we were having a boy and asked me if I wanted to know! Well we (DH and I) didn't think it was fair for my mom to know the sex when we didn't even know so we asked her to tell us and then when I went back for another ultrasound the tech confirmed that it was a boy. We are hoping for a girl this time!!!

Hi Girls! I'd like to join you too. I'll be bringing up the rear of the March Mommas, but I just got my BFP today. I've been spotting for 5 days now, so I was surprised to see those 2 lines pop up. :D
QOTD location: St. Louis, MO
QOTD symptoms: Nausea on Friday, sore nips one day.... today... none.
QOTD telling: Haven't told anyone but one person IRL, haven't even told my DH at this point!
QOTD exercise: Walking around the neighborhood I think is what I'm going to continue to do. My gym membership was up a month ago, and I don't want to rejoin the gym if I don't know how I'm going to feel the first few months.
QOTD sex: We're not finding out. (DH doesn't agree though) Guess is Girl
QOTD dr: Haven't even looked into it yet!
Hi -
Just a drive-by to post that I changed my username from MIPG? to kat, because I was sick of that name (never liked it on the WC, so why I used the same name when I came over here, I'll never know!!!).
So, could you please update my stats? Just a changed username (though you could also add that we're expecting twins). Thanks!!!
QOTD: Definitely finding out the sexes. Hoping for one of each (or, more accurately, at least one boy). Obviously won't be upset if it's two girls (healthy is all that's important, plus girls can wear adorable pigtails! :D), but we're only planning on having two kids so this is it for us.

Thanks for the confirmation ce_Kathleen. At least I know I’m not crazy.;) Congrats on your good dr. appt.!
Welcome Mrs.Can’tDecide! Congrats!
QOTD: Sex (I have no idea how I missed this one): Yes, we will definitely be finding out the sex. We are soooo impatient. I don’t really care what we have either way as long as it’s healthy. I’d like to have at least one son and one daughter, but since this is our first it doesn’t matter to me!

Lisa, what a beautiful prayer! Amen.
JennW, if you started 5wks on Saturday, I think you're exactly one week ahead of me. I started 4wks on Saturday. :)
red, yay for such high betas!!! Also, I'm so glad telling your mom went so well.
Welcome Heidi and MCD!!!!! Yay for more friends from the TTCw/Charting thread! :D
Elenitsa, that is so exciting that your SIL is pg too! You guys will have so much fun going through this journey together!
tuni, I'm sorry for the spotting. I hope it ends soon and puts your mind at ease.
Kathleen, that's great that your bloodwork came back great! I hope your u/s goes just as great tomorrow!

Well I called my dr's office first thing this morning and the only available appt that she had this week was Friday at 2pm. I also talked with one of the nurses who, in turn, talked to my dr and asked her if she thought I should come in any sooner than Friday and she said no. I'm glad that I was able to get in this week but I HATE having a friday afternoon appt because that means I have to wait through the weekend to go forward with any testing.:( But I guess my hands are tied at this point.
Thank you for all of the positive thoughts ladies. I'm still pretty worried about this and I'm not even letting myself get attached to this pregnancy until I find out what this fluid is and what can be done about it (if anything). I'll keep you posted.
Threadmistress, would you please move my first doctor's appt to 7/22? Thank you!

I tried to stay at the WC, and will still be there some, but it is always down lately. PLus, I see so many faces from the TTC w/ CHarting thread here! Huge CONGRATS to Heidi, MCD and RED!!!! I was so pleased to see your faces in here!
First Dr. appt is Aug 4th. I'll be 10 wks. 1 day. It feels like I am having to wait FOREVER!!!!!
QOTD: Location Ontario, Canada (although I am originally from TX)
QOTD:Telling We've told the in-laws and one couple friend (it was hard to miss my numerous bathroom trips and nausea while golfing together). My parents are flying up for a visit on Wednesday and we will tell them then. I have also told my two best friends (in Alaska and Houston). DH has told his two best friends (one is about 5 hours away and the other died when they were teenagers, but DH went to his grave and told him). I cried when he told me!
QOTD: SEX I don't want to find out, but DH does. So, we are finding out for this one. Next one, he has signed a contract to NOT find out!
QOTD: Exercise I used to run, but find it very difficult to do now that I am pregnant. I get winded so easily. I bought a great book though that I plan on following. It is from the editors of Fitness magazine and it takes you through each trimester and after the baby. I hope to start getting back on that treadmill soon.
QOTD: Symptoms- Very nauseous. It comes and goes with good and very bad days. I am tired, but still staying up until my normal time (11-11:30pm) with no naps. I find it extremely hard to get up in the mornings though. I have thrown up and few times, and I am NEVER hungry for dinner. BBs are huge and they didn't need to grow any to begin with. That is about it.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I have an idea that I've seen in other threads...would people want to put where they are in their pg in their titles? For example, you can see that I put 4w5d in the title of my email. Especially since we don't have tickers anymore, I like seeing where everyone is. It is also nice to compare...I have been freaking when people who are 2-3 weeks ahead of me are talking about all of their symptoms. I have to remember that I am few weeks behind some of you.
Shannon, sorry you have to wait until Friday. Hope you are able to get some answers.
Yay MCD, so fun to see you here!
Jenn, thanks for the babyfit link. I need to get my booty exercising more.

MCD! I am so freaking happy to see you in here!! OMG, there is something in the water right now because I cannot believe how many old-time charters are here! it makes my heart glow, i love it!
thank you to everyone for the congrats on the High betas!! I am beside myself happy, they couldn't be better :D They confirm how far along I think I am, which is nice. Always a charter! lol ;) The nurse was kinda confused when I asked the number though, it was funny. She just told me it was positive, and I was like "great! what was the number?" and she was like "the number? ah...886, do you know what that means?" lol, silly woman, not only do I know what that means, but I probably have access/knowledge of better comparison charts than she does! lol :D
So anywho...
QOTD - not finding out the sex, no way no how, both rob and I agree on this. but we'll see if I can handle the surprise, i'm not good at them! lol :D
oh, threadmistress, can you update my first appt to July 28th? I'll be 6w6d. thanks!
ETA - Junk! from the research i did online, * At 18 DPO, the average HCG level is 292 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 70-758 mIU/ml. Look slike someone might have multiples!!
heidi0622
07-18-2005, 02:35 PM
Holy smokes Lisa! What did the nurse say? My first thought is multiples, my other thought is are you further along than you think you are or do you definitely know your O date?
In any case, yay for the numbers rising, I don't think there is any cause for concern with very high numbers.

07-18-2005, 03:01 PM
Hi guys -- first appointment is on July 25th so I'll get an ultrasound then. I definitely O'ed on June 30th, based on my temps so I'm only 18DPO. There is the possibility that I O'ed earlier and my temp took a few days to shift..my fear now (and it's always something...) is either ectopic or molar.
I can't fathom twins would happen -- we don't have twins in the family and this is the first month we've *not* been on fertility drugs in a while....it would *really* be a miracle if that was the case!!
p.s.
No symptoms yet which really scares me with those high betas.....
Forgot to mention -- the nurse says the number is completely fine but of course, I don't believe her :)
MrsCantDecide
07-18-2005, 03:07 PM
Thanks for all the warm welcomes, girls! I'm so excited to be in here! Who would have thought?!
I do have 2 appts scheduled so far....
7/28, first visit... 5w1d
tomorrow for betas and to check my progesterone. Could have gotten in today, but I really didn't want to call from work. ;)
Junk ~ Sounds like great Betas to me!! :D
It is amazing to see the people in this thread, I love it!! So many people that tried for a long time...
OMG, Lisa!! I think that may be the highest beta I've ever seen! I don't think high betas are a sign of ectopics (or at least I've never read that, and as you know, those of us who've TTC for a while read a LOT :D). Plus, isn't the sign of ectopics usually "rising, but not enough"?
I'd be willing to bet it's multiples (or else just a really, really healthy pregnancy). Congratulations! I know it's hard to believe the nurse, but try! :)
I also wanted to tell HSSweethearts that I, too, had a TREMENDOUS appetite at 5 1/2 - 6 weeks. I went out to dinner a couple of times during that week (my in-laws were in town) and I could NOT DECIDE what to order. EVERYTHING looked so fantastic; I wanted it all. And all I did was eat. I, too, said "My god, I'm going to gain 100 lbs with this pregnancy."
I seriously hope you don't feel any shred of m/s, EVER, but just so you know that I've read in all my piles of pg books that the appetite thing is really common (and usually fleeting, even if you never get m/s).
tunibell, I'm sure I, and everyone else here, is thinking about you & keeping everything crossed that all will be okay. I know how scary spotting can be -- and how frustrating it can be to hear "well, maybe it's something, maybe it's not." Although I had spotting with my m/c, I also had spotting with this pregnancy (and we've now seen the heartbeats) so I know how scary it can be, but there's a good chance it's nothing and it'll all be all right. Hang in there and try not to worry too much (I know that's so much easier said than done).
*********
Funny thing -- for the past three nights, the best I've felt has been at around 1:00 AM (which is bedtime for us). I feel bad going to sleep, because I actually feel GOOD then. I might have to switch to being a pure night-owl (which will be hard if I want to keep a job). Granted, I'm a professor, so I could switch to the pure night-owl thing until classes start in another few weeks....hmmmm......Anyway, I can't figure out why I feel so much better then.
I still am waking up in the middle of the night, HOT and itchy. I am still clinging to the hope -- probably in vain -- that this is exacerbated by the progesterone shots I'm (still) taking, and that it'll go away somewhat when we stop the shots (hopefully next week). Last night I woke up at 4:30 AM (after going to bed at 1:00) and then could not get back to sleep, even with the cool compresses on my neck. Needless to say, lack of sleep doesn't make the nausea/ickyness any better.
So, I am basically one big bag of complaints. I feel incredibly guilty about that. First, I tried for SO LONG to have a baby, and now that we've succeeded, I'm not jumping for joy on a daily basis. In fact, I sometimes wish I wasn't pregnant, if only for an hour or two. :( I feel awful for admitting that, but it's true. Second, when I think about taking care of two babies, I feel even worse....I guess it's because the thought of taking care of even ONE baby when I'm feeling this crappy is pretty upsetting, let alone taking care of two. I know it SHOULD make me feel better to know that this is temporary, and a sign that I'm pregnant, not sick.....but for some reason, it doesn't. It just makes me wish that time would speed up, so I could feel a bit like myself again.
I've been told by my friends with kids that this feeling will pass once I feel better. That soon enough I will be jumping up and down (again) with joy. I can't wait, cuz it sure sucks to not be doing so now. Especially because I feel like I *should* be jumping up and down with joy.
Sorry. everyone. I'm sure I've exhausted my poor DH with my complaints, and since many of you are (or will be) in the same boat pretty soon, I thought this was a good place to vent.

Welcome to all the new March moms! I can't believe how quickly this thread is growing!
QOTD - We will definitely be finding out what these babies are. I'm a control freak - not too fond of surprises - and I think it is going to be difficult enough to come up with 2 names -- I can't imagine having to come up with 4! :D
I was going to report that I haven't really been any more emotional than usual- but it now occurs to me that sobbing uncontrollably while reading the new Harry Potter might be pg-related.
Has anyone been feeling light headed at all? Everytime I stand up, I feel a bit woozy. This isn't all that unusual for me (I am a bit of a fainter) but it has been happening every time I stand up. Anyone else?
Tuni - Hope everything is okay with the spotting - keep us posted.
I have two more ultrasounds with my RE - this Friday and next Friday, but they told me to go ahead and schedule an appointment with my OB. I scheduled my first OB appointment on 8/8. I think I am going to have separation anxiety when I finally leave the RE (I seem to spend more time there than I do with any of my friends), but it will be nice to "graduate" and move forward. Maybe I'll feel a bit more confident and secure then?
Kat - I don't think you have to make any apologies for complaining, or for not being thrilled every minute of the day about being pregnant. When you think about everything your body has been through - and what it is currently going through right now -- I think it is only natural to want to feel like yourself again. I hope the itchiness goes away - and that you are soon shot free!

Hi, ladies! Welcome to all the newcomers!
We told my FIL and my BIL the good news last night. That was fun. :) I made little cards that said "To my Grandfather/Uncle, I can't wait to meet you! If all goes well, I'll see you around March 15, 2006!" I thought they were really cute.
QOTD - Sex We want to find out the sex. I really want a girl and DH really wants a boy. So we'll see which one of us ends up happy! I kind of have a feeling it's a boy though.

Lisa~
I dont think its bad to have "high" beta's per say. Im sure
if your doc isnt worried about it its ok. That being said, Id be
obsessing about it myself, because I am a big fan of worrying ;).
Your ultrasound will be here before you know it!
Kat
Hmm, maybe you feel better then with out any food in your
system? Im too freaking exhausted to be a night owl! I bet
your sleeping will improve once you stop your PIO. I think
progesterone does (at least for me) screw up sleeping. I
am tired all the time, yet I wake up often at night.
QOTD: Sex
I think we will probably find out. DH didnt want to initially, but
I think I have managed to change his mind. Plus, after all the
shots I've been through, I think he'll let me know, as he feels
I deserve it after all I've been through ;)

Hi Everyone! I am completely frustrated with the WC, and am so thrilled to see so many faces in here from the charting thread, that I just had to join!
CCName: dec27bride (same as WC)
Me: Ali/26
DH: Jay/30
Married: 12/27/02
TTC: 12/04
BFP: 6/20
EDD: 3/1/06
First Appt: Was 6/14, got to see the heartbeat! :D
Next Appt: 8/11
QOTD1- Location. Texas
QOTD2- We just told our parents today and yesterday, and most of our friends know. I'll be waiting to tell work until closer to 12 weeks.
QOTD3- We will definitely be finding out the sex!
QOTD4- Excersize-I am keeping up with it, I just took it down a notch. I'm still running, but it's actually much more like a leisurely jog than running. And I still do the same weight training routine, just with lighter weights.
QOTD5- Every once in a while I have some nausea, I mostly just don't feel like myself. I've been lucky to not have had any vomiting or anything like that. I have VERY sore bb's though!
Glad to be joining you ladies!

So, I am basically one big bag of complaints. I feel incredibly guilty about that. First, I tried for SO LONG to have a baby, and now that we've succeeded, I'm not jumping for joy on a daily basis.
kat, I could have written your post exactly. I mean, how many times after TTC for so long or after a m/c did we get annoyed at some woman complaining about m/s and think "I would give my left arm and take on way worse m/s to trade places with her"? I have been near tears on more than one occasion because of how sick I feel and I also feel incredibly guilty about that. My mom told me the other day I just had to keep my spirits up and I couldn't bear to tell her that I had no idea how to do that. I'm also terrified of how I'm going to get through a second pregnancy with a toddler running around. So, that is one big positive about twins since you said you were stopping at two ;)
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this except to let you know that you're not alone in what you're feeling. I think, having been at it for so long, that we are especially sensitive to how our feelings and complaining might come across to other people (who are still struggling to conceive) and that is adding to the guilt. I have been trying to take it all a day at a time, knowing that some day I will feel better and it will all be worth it in the end. I hope you start feeling better soon, both physically and emotionally. Take advantage of those late-night times you're feeling good - I am the same way. I feel like the only time I can really talk to DH is late at night when I can string two words together without gagging so we've been doing a lot of snuggling at night and I try not to worry about how I'm going to feel or how late I'm going to sleep in the next morning. I was waking at 4:30 every day for a while too (counting down the hours til I could take the Zofran) but it's gotten a little better the last week or so. Hopefully once you go off the progesterone your sleep will improve.
Okay, enough rambling from me! Welcome to the newbies, MCD, trm and dec27bride! It is great to see you guys over here!

Wow, am I behind. I've got me some readin' to do!
Just wanted to thank you all so very much for your well-wishes...I don't think I could find a better group of women to share this whole crazy journey with. :)
The spotting has stopped completely, which makes me feel sooo much better. My temperature this morning was .3 higher than it has ever been, and the stick I just peed on was nearly flourescent from the first second. It made the control line look like it wasn't even trying. So all in all I feel much better. Just to be sure, though, I had blood drawn today for betas. As I know absolutely nothing about betas, I was wondering if someone could tell me what is a "good" range for 21 DPO? Also, does it make a difference when in the day you do the blood draw? The nurse I spoke to suggested I have the blood drawn on Wed morning, but since the lab was right next door from the office where I picked up the paperwork, I just decided to save myself a trip. It shouldn't matter as long as I tell her when I had the blood drawn, right?
red_canuck
07-18-2005, 09:03 PM
tuni, this is what I found when I was looking at beta numbers. * At 21 DPO, the average HCG level is 1061 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 324-4130 mIU/ml.
i *think* i was 21 DPO when I had my blood draw and got my 886, but I could be off by a max. of 7 days, so i'm no good to compare to. sorry :o So happy to hear the spotting stopped!
Can I just say I read "girlfriends guide" cover to cover today and thought it was hilarious? I rea dit once a year ago, but it so much better now that I can sympathize with symptoms or look forward to events :D

Hello ladies! I had lots of low belly pains last night, which of course terrified me, and I’m sure for no reason. I can’t stand this being worried all the time! I can’t wait to go to the doctor – I think that will make me feel lots better! Less than a week until my first appt.
Still haven’t told anyone else. We’re debating the when/how we should tell people. We’re so excited we want to tell the world but I’m afraid to tell people so early. I also have no idea when to tell the people at work. I think I’ll wait as long as I possibly can hide it to tell the people around here.
Shannon – I must have read your chart wrong (I’m no good at understanding those things:)). I thought your LMP was on 6/18, which is when mine was! So I just finished my 4th week. (First week started 6/18, 2nd-6/25, 3rd-7/2, 4th-7/9, 5th-7/16)
Welcome trm98 and dec27bride! Congrats!:)
Junk – Congrats on the great numbers! Sounds like either you’re further along or multiples! In any case, I don’t think high numbers are anything to worry about. You’ll feel better after your first doctor appt. anyway, I’m sure.
kat – So sorry you’re having a rough time. I guess I know what I have to look forward to in a few weeks! Vent away! That’s what we’re all here for.:) Feel better soon. Same for you, aprilshowers! Feel much better soon!
Bernie – No dizziness for me, but I’ve heard lots of other pg ladies complain about that.
Tracie – Congrats on sharing the news. Sounds like it was very cute. I’m sure they were thrilled.
tunibell – Yay for the spotting stopping! I’m sure you feel much better now.
Red – I totally agree about “Girlfriend’s Guide.” I am reading it right now and I have laughed out loud on more than 1 occasion!:D

tunibell Glad the spotting stopped. You must be so relieved, even though many women spot and then go on to having uneventful pregnancies.
Welcome to all newcomers who are due at the end of March.
I'm very sensitive to smell now. In fact, last week I had to leave the area where my husband was grilling because the smell of meat cooking made me gag. I also have a few food aversions. I used to really enjoy salmon, but now the thought of it turns my stomach. Also, I used to really enjoy hot and spciy foods but now bland is far preferable. In fact, my favorite food now is Whole Foods frozen macaroni and cheese. However, every time I have some unpleasant symptom, I remind myself how lucky I am to be pregnant, and bouts of gagging, sore BBs, fatigue, cramping are all far prefereable over the emotional distress of infertility. I keep telling myself that it's OK not to feel 100% all the time and to keep my eyes on the prize.

So I had my first ultrasound this morning....I had the lovely dildocam b/c we weren't sure how far along I was. She comfirmed that I am 6w 1d and I got to hear the heartbeat (it was 228 which is high but she said normal for this early in the PG)! It was so cool to see this new little baby! The only thing is she didn't give me a due date so if I am 6w1d today does that make my due date march 13? I have my first appt with the nurse on 8/2 and my first appt with my OB on 8/10. I hope I get a due date from them at that time!
JennW I wouldn't worry too much about some belly pains as long as they are not really bad or sharp pains. I would mention it to your Dr if you are worried though. I had cramping/pains for 2 weeks with this baby and with DS. Even now I will have a bad day once in a while.
tunibell that is great that the spotting stopped! I hope you don't have to worry about that anymore!

Jenn, You're absolutely right! It does look like we're pg buddies. :) My LMP was 6/18 (my 10 yr class reunion!)...but does that make us 4w3d today or 4w4d (I noticed your post said 4w4d and you VERY well could be right...up until when I got my BFP I didn't even know you measure your pg from you LMP:rolleyes: )
JennW
07-19-2005, 07:35 AM
Dasha – Sorry about the aversion to smells. I hope that fades soon.
ce_Kathleen – Congrats on the ultrasound! Sounds wonderful!
Shannon – Don’t feel bad, I didn’t know you count from the LMP either until I saw it online. I called to make my dr. appt and I was shocked when they said I was more than I thought! LOL. I counted using Saturday as the first day of the next week which is where I came up with 4w4d, but I have no idea if that is accurate or not since the way you did it makes more sense in some ways too. Ah this is so confusing!!! Also I have a really short cycle which I’ve heard can affect it too so I honestly have no idea. Ha! In any case, we had the same LMP, so we are def pg buddies regardless of how we’re counting!:D

6w5d . So far I've only had one incident of morning sickness and I think that was just due to eating fried chicken which I was really craving ;). My mom never had morning sickness except for a few times when she was PG with me. I just hope I'm as lucky. In all fairness to me I have cronic motion sickness. I can barely ride in a car if I am not driving. Especially at night. It all started when I was about 8 years old. Boats are also out of the question. Last year on vacation I got on a boat in the ocean and 5 minutes after being on it I had my head hung over the side of the boat. I literally thought I was dying. So I told DH that the 16 years I've had to deal with motion sickness should count for something and maybe I won't have morning sickness ;)
I'm still having slight bleeding. It seems to come and go, but as long as it doesn't get any worse I guess there is nothing to worry about.
QOTD's
- I live in Athens, GA. It's about an hour and a half east of Atlanta.
- We will definitely be finding out the sex. I really want to know. It would kill me if I had to wait :)
- I think we have told almost everyone. I know it isn't advisable to tell so early, but we couldn't help it. I am pretty close to everyone I work with so I felt that they would all be happy which they were :).
- Exercise. Yesterday I found out that one of our local hosptials offers a water aerobics class for PG women. I'm definitely going to look into that. The next session doesn't start for a month or two, but I may go ahead and sign up for it.

Nothin' exciting going on here... except that the spotting stopped and I'll be going to do dr. soon to go get my betas drawn. :D (is the the proper way to say it? Betas drawn?

Nothing too much happening here. My BBs hit a growth spurt sometime between 8-11 pm last night. I'm still fitting into my regular bras, but the BBs are definitely more firm and dense than they usually are. My nips have been killing me, too.
No morning sickness, though I do start to feel a bit of nausea if I don't eat right away. No food aversions, either; instead I feel as if I've been eating everything in our house.
I'm having some cramping/achy feelings in my lower back today, I'm hoping it's just everything stretching and growing.
qotd-sex We don't plan on finding out the sex, but that doesn't mean I can't change my mind about it later on. :)
Can my EDD please be changed to March 16. Thanks!

ajb524 – That sucks that you get motion sickness so bad! I hope you don’t get any m/s.
mcd – Good luck at the doctor. Make sure to let us know how it goes! Another pg buddy for us! Yay. I think I O’d early so I’m a bit off too.:) Right now I’m just counting from the LMP though. I don’t know any other way.
kdotp – I’m sure what you’re feeling is normal. If you’re anything like the rest of us, you’re just worry about every little ache and pain. Completely normal!:D
amychris – Great news on the betas! You must be thrilled.:)

Just popping in to say CONGRATS to Jenn and Andrea, I'm so happy to see you guys pg finally :)
Hope to join you pg ladies soon! :D
Thanks, everyone, for letting me let off some steam. I feel much better today.....which would make many people nervous, but I'm just happy I feel well enough to think clearly. It might be that for whatever reason, I *didn't* wake up hot last night, so I managed to get a halfway decent night's sleep. I've also been wearing the "Sea Bands" since about 7 PM last night (wore them straight through the night). Not sure whether they're actually doing anything physically, but I figure they can't hurt (even if my improvement is psychosomatic, who cares? :D).
amychris, I'm hoping the PIO shots are causing the sleep issues, or at least contributing to them! Sorry to hear you're waking up at night.
Congrats on the great beta leap!
aprilshowers, oh, you have indeed made me feel SO MUCH BETTER. It helps a LOT to know that I'm not crazy for feeling this way. I'm sorry to hear that you're so sick (far sicker than me)!!!!
FWIW, and you probably already know this from experience, but I've had every mom out there (lots of old WC friends, for example) tell me that what I'm feeling is 100% normal -- the same way they felt -- and that it goes away, so that someday soon I WILL feel joyous (again). Oh, how I cannot wait!
Hope you feel better soon!!!!
Bernie, I am 100% with you on the dizziness. I've learned that blood pressure drops quite a bit in early pregnancy, so if yours was on the low-ish side to begin with, it's probably causing blackouts and dizziness now. For example, my "normal" blood pressure is usually around 100/65. When I went to my endocrinologist's office at 6 1/2 weeks, it was 85/56. The endo told me that's entirely normal, and unless I was actually fainting, not to worry about it. In fact, she said really low blood pressure now is a good sign -- helps ward off preeclampsia.
Do you normally have low blood pressure??
tunibell, sooooooooooooo glad to hear the spotting stopped! Yay!
As far as your beta....the beta from a single day is fairly meaniningless (because the "normal" range is so huge); the important thing is to see how it's increasing over time. That's why people go in one day and then 48 hours later, because the beta numbers are supposed to double approximately every 48 hours.
Good luck!
And welcome/congratulations to all the new March Mommas!!!

MCD, how about that! Another LMP on 6/18! :) BTW, I live in KC. Where in St. Louis do you live(if you don't want to post it online, I totally understand). My sis and her Dh are moving from CA (where they've lived for the past 7 years) to STL in mid-August. I'm SO excited to have her back within driving distance! They just bought a house on the VERY edge of Creve Cour (spelling?) but they'll still have a STL address. Dh & I went to STL as a mini-vaca over Memorial Day weekend and had the BEST time! So much to see and do!
Amy, yay for such high betas!!!

So my first beta at 21 DPO was 7,031. (That's good, right? I mean, I know you can't really tell much from one draw, but still.) The nurse said she'd like to see my next beta (at 23 DPO) be over 10,000. Does that sound right? I thought they were supposed to double over 48-hours, or does that rate slow down as you get further in?
amychris03

The info I have says in betas over 6000, it takes > 96 hours
to double. It definitely does slow as the numbers get higher!

I have a QOTD, something I've just figured out. Do you have a nickname for baby right now? I hated saying "it" so much, so hubby and I came up with "Lucky" :D Kinda helps make this whole process more real too having a name for the baby!
JennW
07-20-2005, 06:16 AM
Hello girls,
Hope everyone is doing great. Happy hump day! We’re halfway through the week now.:) I can’t wait until my doctor appt. next Monday. So far I’m feeling good though. I still have minor cramps and nausea which I’ve had for past 2 weeks. Last night I still had that lower left belly pain and this morning it was there again too. It is really bothering me so I come into work and look it up on the Internet. DO NOT DO THIS IF SOMETHING IS BOTHERING YOU! I have learned my lesson. I got a bunch of Web sites telling me how I have everything from ovarian cancer to tubal pregnancy and it probably is nothing but gas!!! I love the Internet but something there is TOO much information that is inaccurate.
Sorry for the novel I wrote up there, just wanted to share my experience so you too don’t find yourself freaking out over a web diagnosis.
Other than that things are great! My question for everyone is, do you ever think of anything OTHER than the baby you’re starting to grow inside of you? I cannot keep my mind on anything else and I imagine it’s going to continue to get worse as the weeks/months progress! I am trying to concentrate on something else, but I can’t!
Kat – Glad to hear you’re feeling better! I’ve heard those Sea Bands actually work. Where did you buy them? I should get myself some for when/if m/s kicks in for me.
Shannon – How cool that you & baby will have close birthdays!
tunibell – Congrats on the great numbers!
QOTD – No name yet. I think after I go to the doctor and find out all is well it will start being more real to me too. I hate calling it “it” too though. I think Lucky is a cute name. I’ll have to come up with something cute as well.:)
red_canuck
07-20-2005, 06:25 AM
OMGosh, i am/have been having the same pain, but I convince myself it was nothing and to just lie down, but gas makes so much sense! thanks jenn :D
Think of something other than the baby? You've got to be kidding! If I'm not sleeping and thus dreaming about lucky, then I'm daydreaming about the baby. Everything I do, think, talk, eat and read in some way has to do with the baby :D

I was going to do some cleaning this morning, but it's so hot that I didn't want to over-exert myself. Sometimes pregnancy has its advantages!
Yesterday after lunch I felt a couple waves of nausea. Is morning sickness starting to rear its ugly head? Up until now, I've really only felt sick in the early morning, which is actually completely normal for me.
QOTD I've been calling the baby "Little Shamrock" since he/she's due so close to St. Patrick's Day!
Bernie

Good morning!
I hope everyone is doing well! Still no real symptoms, other than being hungry all of the time. I'm eating my second breakfast right now.
Tuni - Your beta looks good to me. Do you go in today for another test? Good luck!
Kat - My blood pressure is usually on the lower side - making me one of the few people I know on a doctor-approved high sodium diet!
QOTD - We've been calling the little guys Peanut & Plain. We transferred our embryos 5 days after retrieval, when they were in the blastocyst stage. One of the blasts was starting to hatch out of its shell, making it look a lot like a peanut. The other one was still kind of round and m&m shaped. DH named them Peanut & Plain - although we sometimes refer to them as P&P.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Mornin' Ladies, hope you are all doing well today. I'm a little nervous, as my first apt. is in a couple hours. I had a terrible dream last night that I was in my dr. office and the nurse came back and told me that I wasn't pregnant. I must have used the HPTs wrong, but that there was no baby in there. :( Now what kind of a dream is that!?! I sure hope today's apt. goes better than the one in my head last night. On a lighter note, I'm thrilled that DH wanted to go to the first apt. with me! :D Good man.
QOTDs
I've been calling the baby, "peanut" and "bambino" so far, but DH calls him/her a different funny name every day. The other day it was, "snoopy" and I was affectionately referred to as "peanut sack"
JennW, you nailed it on the head with that observation. ITA, this baby is ALL I can think about these days. But it's wonderful, and I don't want to think about anything else! Needless to say, my productivity at work has taken a serious dive recently.

Welcome to all the new March Moms! I wonder how many more we will get?
QOTD - No name for the baby yet. I guess it will feel more real after the appointment. "Lucky" is very cute and appropriate Red. :)
Regarding how I'm feeling - I'm feeling pretty good. I think its weird that I don't have very strong pregnancy symptoms. My nips hurt, but only when I poke them, and its just the nips. Don't most women feel tender all over their boobies? I did have major heartburn last night and continue to get it on and off. I suffer from severe acid reflux so I think it is probably extra bad because of that. I also feel "nervous" in my tummy sometimes, not that often and I wouldn't go as far as characterizing it as nausea, but I wonder if it is the beginnings of m/s.
Jenn - I'm with you. I can't concentrate on anything else. It is so frustrating. It takes me *forever* to do the smallest task at work. All I do is daydream.
Funny story - OK, so I told you guys that so far only DH and my co-worker know about my pregnancy. On Monday one of my good friends found out I was pregnant and called me to confirm it. Guess how she found out? My manicurist told her! I forgot that I told my manicurist on Saturday that I was pregnant. I was afraid of the chemicals they use for the fill-ins so I told her. My friend lives on the other side of town and just happened to try my nail place because she was in my neighborhood. She ended up getting her nails done by my manicurist's husband and when she mentioned that she was a friend of mine, he told her I was pregnant. How random is that??? Who would have thought that I would get outed by my manicurist and her husband who barely speak English?!

Good Morning ladies!!
nothing too much going on here, except a little nausea which is strange since I never had any with DS.
QOTD: We are calling "it" baby dos (not sure how you spell dos which is spanish for 2) or we call it baby #2 or just bean (since that is what it looked like on the ultrasound).
New QOTD: have you guys been having crazy dreams?
I have been having the strangest most vivid dreams. I remember this happened when I was PG with DS too. Sometimes it gets really scary and I wake up sweating/shaking or crying! I have always been one to have strange dreams and being PG just makes them worse!

Wowzers... I have been dealing with some family issues and this thread is mega-huge :) I will need awhile to catch up, so forgive me!
QOTD: I call the baby "he" just because it is my gut feeling. Sometimes we calll him "Zakary" since that is the name in the running right now. Although DH will sneak in Nathan since that is the name he wants! We did the Accugen Baby Gender Mentor test, so we should know the gender results Friday ir Monday at the latest if my gut is right!
I feel horribly but it is now the exact same it was with dd. I am sick all the time and if my stomach gets remotely empty... watch out!

QOTD We refer to the baby as Coco, since our last name begins with a CO and also has a hard K sound.
I force myself not to obsess about the baby, especially since I had one previous pregnancy loss. However, when I close my eyes in bed, that's all I think about, not my pregnancy, but an actual, living baby that I"m holding.
Tomorrow is my first u/s appointment. After that I will be released from the care of the fertility clinic whose expertise enabled me to conceive. It will be a bittersweet feeling, because I will really miss everyone there.
I'm going to cautiously join.

I'm so excited and nervous right now! I started spotting two days after my first BFP, which scared me. It last for a whole week, but my OB said that everything looked fine. The spotting has stopped but m/s has kicked in BIG TIME. I'm not vomiting, but in a constant state of extreme nausea. I have to keep snacks on me at all times and am hoping that vitmain b6 will help. I saw the OB again yesterday and everything is going along great so far! My next appt is on 8/5/05. I'm really, really, really hoping this baby sticks. :)

QOTD – My dreams have been SOOOOOOOOOO crazy! I am normally someone with very odd, vivid dreams as it is, but the last few nights and I can’t even explain what I see in my dreams. I woke up at 4 this morning telling DH that if I could just write down this dream we could have a blockbuster thrilled on our hands!!!
I’m glad you all agree that thinking of this little guy/gal is ALL THAT IS POSSIBLE IN OUR HEADS!
Red! Ah ha! I’m not the only one feeling that? GOOD! I think gas is probably the culprit! What fun we have to look forward to.
HSSweethearts – That is too funny that you were outed by the manicurist. BTW, is it okay to get manicures when PG? I was wondering about that.
Dasha – Good luck at your u/s!:)
ETA: Welcome and congrats Yvette!:)
Yet another QOTD: Do you plan to be a working mommy or a SAHM? If working, what will baby do all day? My answer: I will be a working mom. I wish I could stay home at least part time, but I don’t think we can afford that right now. Most likely baby will be in DC some days and with family others.

Yikes, this thread moves fast!
Hssweethearts, thank you for posting about not having symptoms. I am 5 weeks today and really have no symptoms or they just come and go. My nips only hurt if I squeeze them (and I am a freak that has been doing this A LOT). One afternoon, I'll feel really tired, then yesterday I felt just fine, so of course I started to freak. I am really driving myself nuts. I am eating normally, the only consistent sign I have had is that I have had to get every single night to pee...during the day though, I don't seem to be peeing any more than normal.
JennW, I agree...the Internet can be such a wonderful tool, but also create unnecessary worry too. I have to keep reminding myself that most women would just be finding out they're pregnant right about now, so I don't need to flip about every twinge.
Dasha, good luck with your u/s appt tomorrow. I have my appt this Friday, then next Friday with my RE and then I will be released from there as well. It is a bittersweet feeling...also a reminder that I need to figure out who I am going to see as my OB or midwife. I don't like my prior OB...then were very poor to deal with after my m/c and subsequent fertility issues.
Tray622, sorry about the continue m/s and family issues. Too cute about having the names for a potential boy :) What is the gender mentor test? How do you find out the gender so soon?
ce_kathleen, no weird dreams for me yet. I usually never remember my dreams, so I don't know what will happen in the next few months.
honey_bee, good luck with your first appt. Sorry about your nightmare...not a good feeling. I'll think positively that everything will be just fine.
bernie, I'm glad too that you're posting about no symptoms yet either. Its driving me crazy not having any symptoms. I like your nicknames for your twins...very cute!
Tracie, cute nickname, I was thinking the same thing since I am due close to St. Patty's Day.
Red, HI! Hope you're doing well :)
QOTD1: I put little shamrock in my siggy, but I haven't really referred to it as anything yet. I'll feel a lot more comfortable having a name after my next few u/s.
QOTD2: No weird dreams, but I'm not a big dreamer anyway.
QOTD3: My production at work has taken a huge nose-dive. Not that it was wonderful to begin with, but I definitely need to get my butt in gear. This constant daydreaming will catch up with me.
Nothing else to report other than what I said above. I really don't have any strong symptoms. I'll feel a little better at my 1st u/s Friday. I know we won't see much and then I'll just start worrying again for my next u/s the following Friday. I just need to breathe and keep taking things one day at a time. I also need to remind myself that it is not a huge deal to not have a lot of symptoms this early on!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

The Accugen test is a blood test that tests maternal DNA for traces of y-chromosome. It is expensive ($275) but it doesn have a 200% money back guarantee. My ob said that not all docs are aware of this type of testing but it is harmless and it has been proven. We are doing it for "fun" and cant wait for the results :) www.babygendermentor.com It has been shown on Good Morning America and the news... but who really knows!
Working I would love to stay home as well, but it is not feasible. I am a teacher and am trying to get on a shortened teaching schedule, but until then I feel fortunate to have the time off I do have.

qotd 1 I've actually not been thinking about it all that much. I mean, it's always in the back of my mind, but there are moments I forget I'm pg. Call it a self-defense mechanism or whatever, I'll probably be this way until I actually get to see it. Heck, until I actually have this baby!
qotd 2 No nickname. See aforementioned self-defense mechanism.
qotd 3 If I have been, I haven't remembered anything specific about them. I rarely remember my dreams, though.
wotd 4 I'll have to go back to work. My company reimburses daycare, and we can't live without my income. My sister's a SAHM and loves it, but we just can't afford it right now.
I've been having tons of gas pains today. I hate them and they freak me out, but at least I know that's all they are.

QOTD: working - my DH is a SAHD and I work. This has worked well for us so far with DS. My DH did take a part time job (2-3 evenings or weekends) just so he can get out of the house and have some adult interaction.
We live far from all our family (6 hours) so if we both worked we would have to put DS and baby #2 in daycare which is just too expensive!
opps. My EDD should be 3/16/06 :o

Hssweethearts, Bernie, and Heidi thank you thank you for both posting about not having any symptoms! I'm going out of my mind worrying ebcause I'm feeling fabulous! Oh, and Heidi, there is a tonn of nipple pinching happening over here. The truck drivers were loving it when I was in the car this weekend ;)
Jenn ITA, internet is both best friend and worst enemy.
Good luck at your ultrasound Dasha!
that test sounds really neat tray! Can't wait to hear the results :D
That nightmare is horrible honey :(.
I love everyone's nicknames!!
Now some answers for the QOTD...
QOTD2: Can't remember any weird dreams yet, but I'll keep my mind open :)
QOTD3: I'm a SATW, so thankfully I don't have to worry about production, but I haven't done much around the house either though!
QOTD4: I'll be at SATM, at least for the first year or so of Lucky's life. I'm right now a student, so it works very well. I'm very grateful for being able to stay home :D

WOW! This thread is flying along today!! We are leaving tomorrow
for a long weekend in the outer banks and I will surely be lost by the
time I get back ;)
Dasha Good Luck at your ultrasound tomorrow!
Heidi Good Luck at your ultrasound on Friday! I'll be interested
to see what you see, since we have the same EDD.
---
QOTD 1: We haven't come up with a nick name yet, but DH just
got back yesterday. We'll have to come up with something soon though,
we call our dogs stuffed animals her "babies" (bad idea in retrospect) so
we definitely dont want to relay that our child is a play toy!
QOTD 2: Ive been having some WHACKY dreams. I actually
wrote about them in LJ before I knew I was PG and it made suspect
that I might be. Very vivid, and I remember the exact details, which
is rare for me.
QOTD 3: Hmm, we are kind of undecided on this right now. We
dont even know where we will be living next year, so we aren't sure
what we are going to do. I work in the school system, so I will most
likely have the remainder of the school year and summer off, then will
probably go back, at least part time.
Wow - so much activity again!
JennW: I bought the Sea-Bands at Osco (the drugstore down the street). They were next to the Dramamine.
So far -- and I recognize this could be entirely in my head -- I have felt the worst I have EVER felt during this pregnancy last night about an hour after I took them off for the first time. They're actually pretty tight (and I have fairly small wrists) and so I wanted to give myself a break. Ha! Won't be doing that again any time soon. So what if I look like Martina Navratilova in 1980? (They're two athletic-type wristbands). I'll just tell everyone I'm trying to start a new fashion trend! :)
Bernie: Peanut & Plain is so cute!!! Do you ever wonder how weird/cool it's going to be for your kids to see themselves at the blast stage? We did a day 3 transfer so ours are just two little 8-cell clusters....and I can't help but wonder how incredibly strange it would be to see myself at that stage.
HSSweethearts: Now THAT is a weird way to find out your friend is pregnant!! I'd probably think they'd misunderstood or something. That's just so incredibly random!
And don't feel weird about not having any symptoms yet!!! First of all, I think most people don't get symptoms until a bit later (I had sore bbs, but that could be primarily the progesterone shots I'm taking -- the rest of the symptoms didn't show up until just over 6 weeks), and second, if you have no symptoms, that's great!
yby1: Welcome!! And congratulations!
QOTD #1: I have indeed had vivid dreams the past week or so. Normally I don't remember my dreams, or they're so incredibly dull they're not worth repeating (for example, in the past I've dreamed that I was driving my friend to work. Yipee! ). Now my dreams aren't exactly about flying dragons or anything, but they are more interesting than "driving friend to work," and they are more vivid.
QOTD #2: I intend to be a SAHM for a while, but not at first. I haven't yet talked to my boss, but I'm likely to have these babies in mid-February and the semester doesn't end until May. So I'm not sure whether they'll want me to just skip the teaching during second semester, or whether they'll just ask one of my colleagues to sub for most of the semester. But there's a chance I could work for just a few weeks and then (after doing all the grading - yuck), I'd be done (after submitting the grades in June of next year).
QOTD #3: We're pretty boring; we've just been calling them, "The Twins." My husband has been calling me "Three-Ply," however (after I told him that calling me "Duplex" just wasn't going to fly, especially as I got bigger).
********
Nothing new today.....still feeling queasy and hot. Yesterday I felt great until I had to leave the house. I think I'm just super-sensitive to the heat (and humidity). As it is, my breathing is more strained than normal, and the heat just makes me feel dizzy. So, I've been freezing my poor DH out of his mind at night (turning the AC *WAY* up and sleeping downstairs, where it's cooler). He actually thinks it's pretty funny, b/c usually I'm the one who's freezing all the time (a side effect of my hypothyroidism).
I've found that french fries and plain (no butter, no sauce, nothin') pasta with salt are my two new favorite foods.

Kat - My friend said that she and the manicurist argued for a long time on whether or not they were talking about the right "Liza". The whole thing is a riot. :D
JennW - I read on Babycenter.com that manicures are a-ok and fill-ins are only bad if you actually work at the nail salon. Otherwise, an occasional fill-in of acrylic nails will not harm your baby because you're probably not exposed to enough of any hazardous materials to create any significant hazard to your pregnancy.
Regarding Dreams: I have definitely continued to have vivid/realistic dreams. In fact, last night I dreamt that I painted a silver polish color over my existing red pedicure and it turned out horribly. When I woke up, I had to look down at my toes to make sure I didn't really do it.
Regarding Working: As much as I toy with the idea of being a SAHM, it doesn't make sense for us because we need the money and the benefits are excellent. I also really really love my job/company. We are lucky to have both of our mothers close by and they will take turns taking care of the baby. I might decide to become a SAHM after #2 or #3.
Bernie

I can't keep up with this thread!
yby1 - Congratulations!
Dasha -- Good luck with your ultrasound tomorrow! I have the same feelings about leaving my RE - I feel like I have grown very attached!
Jenn - When I called to schedule my OB appointment, the receptionist told me to stay off of the internet. I wonder if this counts?
Kat - Friends of ours with an IVF baby have told us that they intend use the pre-transfer 8-cell picture in the baby photo section of his high school yearbook, under the caption "DS - 3 days." I thought that was very cute!
QOTD re: working - I always planned to go back to work after three months, but I'm not sure how having twins will affect those plans - maybe I will stay out a bit longer? Or maybe I just won't want to go back again? When/if I do go back, I will definitely work out a part time arrangement with my firm (I'm a lawyer). My hours here are generally pretty long - so I'm hoping that if I work part time, I will actually get to see the kids once in awhile. :)

Oooh, lots of good questions!
QOTD1 (nickname): We've been using "little bear" or "cubster" bcs I thought it looked like a bear on the first ultrasound (everything in our house gets "ster" added to the end  which is how cubster came about). Much better than the first pregnancy which was BOC (for ball of cells) and also much better than DH's first look at the u/s screen when he thought it looked like a toad. Nice.
QOTD2 (dreams): yup, been having a couple crazy ones. First one was after I gave birth and I was nursing and then suddenly the newborn was already a toddler. Second one I won't go into details on since it was a, um, sex dream :o At least I'm getting some in my sleep since I definitely am not otherwise (poor DH - we're both afraid I might puke in his face).
QOTD3 (SAHM): haven't figured out what we'll be doing but I know I am definitely not cut out to be a SAHM. Childcare is very $$$ around here and it's unclear whether I even make enough to cover it. I do work at home though and have a very flexible job so we will at least start out trying to see how many hours I can get in staying w/ the current situation. Maybe hire someone to stay with the baby for a couple of hours during the day or something. If part-time childcare existed around here that would be a definite possibility but I have heard that they'll charge you full price even if you only use it part-time.
QOTD4 (obsessing): actually I've been surprisingly good at not obsessing, especially given how much I obsessed over TTC! I think I'm also in self-defense mode a bit and also trying to put off thinking about the million things that we have to do before the baby arrives.
morning sickness: I wanted to mention a couple things the nurse said were safe to use in case anyone starts feeling worse. Though I would probably still ask your doctor about either of the drugs before using them.
--Sea Bands (I'm sporting the tennis player look as well, kat and I even have them in black and grey so I have several options should I ever actually feel well enough to leave the house and need to match an outfit ;))
--Unison (or Unisom?) at OTC anti-nauseau drug
--Imatrex or emetrex (she didn't know how to spell it), another OTC.
--Vitamin B6, 50 mg 2x a day
I'm so jealous of all of you who don't have any symptoms! I have all of them, magnified. Except, oddly enough, the constant peeing. I think I am peeing less than I used to, mostly because I can't drink nearly as much water as I did before I got nauseaus.
Welcome, Yvette! We will all be thinking very sticky thoughts for you! Have you had an u/s yet or will 8/5 be your first?
aprilshowers - 8/5 will be my fist u/s. I had one on 7/7 because of my spotting but it was too early to see anything. I'm kind of anxious because of my previous m/c's, so I'm going to try to beg them to do one next week. They will be closely monitoring my betas though, which have been the good range so far. :)

Good day lovely March Mommas!!! I forgot to post -- my first OB appointment is July 25th - so we can add me to the master list. I'll get to see the li'l one then.
QOTD's:
1. No name yet except for "little tiny baby" (coined by DH)
2. TONS of crazy dreams --- Johnny Depp made an appearance last night! :D
3. We'd ultimately like for me to be a SAHM but it really just depends on where we are financially. All TBD I suppose.
4. Sorta kinda obsessing but not sooo much. Trying to be cautiously optimistic until I see a li'l something on Monday. Although I just bought some maternity clothes on Babystyle -- am I bad? What can I say, it was a great sale!!!

JennW ~ I'm sure the Doc will tell you soon enough when your official due date is! ;)
I have resolved myself to only ask people about pains and stuff, if they've had a baby already! :P
Shannon ~ Wow, CA to STL... they sure are in for a shock, aren't they? Creve Couer is nice. :) I live in House Springs, which is south of Fenton. HOw cool that you are so close! And of course, us St. Louisians think it's boring here, usually! ;)
kat ~ So glad you feel better, at least for the time being!
Tuni ~ WOW! Those are some definite high betas!!! Crazy, girl!
HSSweethearts ~ How crazy is that story!! That's nuts!
Welcome yby1!
Heidi ~ You haven't been taking your bra off and jumping up and down, have you? ;)
I can't believe that we are 6 days apart! How crazy is that??
Red ~ I don't really have any symptoms either, except ever so slightly sore boobs when I touch/poke them.
Amychris ~ Have a good long weekend!
QOTD #1 ~ Right now, I'm just calling him baby bean, or baby S. OH! I could call it Baby Can't Decide! BCD? Hmmmm? In other words, I don't know!
QOTD #2 ~ So far I'm not doing too bad about thinking about things other than baby. I guess I haven't really gotten used to the idea that I'm PG yet, and I'll wait until my next beta numbers that I'll get on Friday and then maybe I'll think more about baby.
QOTD #3 ~ No dreams here. Give me a few weeks!
QOTD #4 ~ Working Mommy here. Can't afford for me to be a SAHM. :)

Just a drive by to report that my apt with the nurse went great! The first words out of her mouth when we sat down in her office were, "You're prenancy is confirmed." :D :D :D I don't know what I was nervous about, jeesh! I'm glad DH came with me. He liked to hear the doc tell him that we were having a baby rather than some OTC test. It just made it more real for him, I think. My next apt. is scheduled for Aug. 15th. We'll get to hear the heartbeat then and I just can't wait. It seems so far away...

honey_bee, so glad your appt went well!
MCD, my sis and her Dh have always considered the midwest "home" since that's where they're both originally from so they consider this moving home. They're both REALLY excited, however, all of their friends in CA just don't understand their excitement. They will definitely miss what CA has to offer but I guess being close to home is better than that. :D
QOTDs:
1. No nicknames thus far. Like some of the other ladies mentioned, I'm doing it as a defense mechanism in case this pgcy is not sticky. I SO hope I get reassurance that everything looks okay at my dr's appt on friday.
2. Not really obsessing too much because of reason above.
3. No vivid dreams here.
4. I'll probably be a working mommy but I do work for a school district so I am very thankful to have the summers off. I may work part-time after baby though...we'll just have to see how finances look.
Add me to the list of zero pg symptoms (although I know I'm early). I'm glad to know I'm not alone.

Trying to remain calm. It's totally brown, but still freaks me out. It's reddish/brown around my cervix (TMI?) and increased after I went a pokin', so I'm sincerely hoping this is all just some sort of cervical inflammation. Still, I'm gonna be on pins and needles for the next 24 hours - I get my 2nd beta drawn tonight and should know more tomorrow. The nurse I spoke to also mentioned the possibility of an early u/s once I hit 6 weeks (Monday). Think I will most likely jump at the chance.

tuni ~ *HUGS* I know how you feel, the spotting sucks. Mine's coming and going too. Like aprilshowers says -- Stop Poking!

Completely forgot my own update!
Called the nurse earlier to get my numbers back from yesterday's blood-letting, and for 14 DPO, I had:
Hcg = 193 and
progesterone = 16.8
Looks like I won't have to get the prog. suppliments like I thought I would! And the nurse was super nice and she told me, "well, you're definitely pregnant!"
Going in tomorrow for repeat betas, I'll get the numbers back probably by 10am on Friday. Hopefully the numbers look great, so that I can be relaxed over the weekend. :D

yby1 - thanks!
QOTD's:
1. No one name yet. We make up different silly names for our pets all the time and we're doing the same thing with the baby.
2. No dreams at all. I NEVER remember my dreams so I'll be amazed if I start remembering anything.
3. DH will be staying home. He's not very good at holding corporate jobs (flaky artist  ) but he'll be trying to do some freelance from home. We were actually hoping to sell our house and move out of state this fall when we found out I was pregnant. But, that will have to wait now until after the baby is born since I have great health insurance and a really flexible job.
4. Not obsessing but because this wasn't planned, I hadn't really done my research. So I'm trying to catch up now. :)

JennW- I totally agree about the internet thing! I had to stop going to the message boards at Fertility Friends Pregnancy Website, totally freaked me out! I've been sticking to Baby Center for advice, they stay pretty positive.
HSSweethearts- I was the same way as you, virtually symptomless, up until around 6 weeks. After that, I got just a little nausea, and the only real symptom I still seem to have, is very sore bb's...And it's probably not helping that I'm touching them all day long to make sure they're still sore.
Tray- That is awesome that you're getting your results back soon, very exciting!
kdotp- Wow, your company re-imburses daycare? That's great!
kat- LOL at your Martina Navritalova comment. :D
honeybee- I think it became much more real for my DH after the appt too, and he didn't even go! I think just someone besides me saying that I was pregnant, helped (you'd think he would have been convinced by the six tests I took in the weeks leading up to the appt, but no).
tuni- Crossing my fingers for you that the spotting disappears, I'll be thinking of you!
QOTD1- We haven't come up with any cute nicknames yet. Although I did think the ultrasound picture looked like a Christmas Tree, so it's been referred to as that a few times  .
QOTD2- No weird dreams for me, any that I can remember that is...
QOTD3- I will be a working Mom.
Whew, that was a lot of catching up! Anyway, that's all for now, have a good night everyone!

QOTD #1: DH has referred to "the bun" a few times. I was calling it "the passenger," but it reminded me of when Alias (IMHO) jumped the shark.
QOTD #2: I am all baby, all the time. Seriously, I have become the worst conversationalist ever, unless all you want to hear about is 1) my spotting or 2) baby bedding. I haven't been this bad since, well...I was a bride! (Fewer magazines are involved this time around, though.)
QOTD #3: Dreams...I have had some doozies. Can't seem to recall any details offhand, though. Before I found out I was pregnant, though, I had a truly bizarre one where I was walking through a deserted Manhattan looking in vain for a nursing bra.
QOTD #4: I'd love to be a part-time worker/SAHM. Actually, what I'd really love is for my husband and I to start our own home-based business. That would be perfect.
tray622 - Cannot WAIT to hear what the good folks at Accugen say!
kdotp - I hear you on the gas pains. I was at work last week when it felt like a sword sliced right through me. I was scared for a second, but then remembered that's exactly how bad gas pains felt before I was pregnant.
kat - I also have the oh-so-1970s-sporty SeaBands, and am ready to pull them out at a moment's notice. No nausea yet, though.
HSSweethearts - I'm gonna have to be more careful what I tell my manicurist. Actually, I think the whole staff of Bell Supermarket knew we were pregnant before either set of our parents did. Thank God we live 3,000 miles away!
aprilshowers - Honey, I hope you feel better real soon! I do solemnly swear to stop poking my unmentionables. :)
larslobster - Welcome! And why does your poor kitty have a cone on his/her head? Poor little conehead!
MCD - Congratulations on your great numbers!!! And yay to no progesterone - I hear that is no fun.
dec27bride - FF's pregnancy site scares the heck out of me too. I'm trying to stick to the reassuring stuff, myself.
junkinmytrunk - Thank you for your super sweet supportiveness.

I *just* came over from the other boards and I'm so happy I found this thread. Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. We're not planning to tell anyone for another few months and it's killing me (this is our first). So glad I can share here :D

QOTD #1: I've referred to it as the peanut a couple of times but it doesn't sound right. I'm hoping a new nick name will come to me.
QOTD #2: No dreams yet...
QOTD #3: I'm planning to be a SAHM but nervous about making the transition from working full time. I think I may need to find something to do outside of baby but not sure what that will be...
Question of my own: I was feeling "pregnant" up until yesterday and now I feel less pregnant if that makes any sense. I'm still having symptoms (sore bb's, nipples are still big) so I can't really put my finger on it. I'm 4w. Anyone else have the same feeling? Maybe it's just in my head and I just expected to feel more different being pregnant that I really do, at least at this stage?

Hello ladies. Quiet in here today!!!
I had those horrible pains last night again (the ones we all deduced were gas pains). I have no idea why I am getting them so bad at night. Is it possible some growth down there is pressing on something? I have my first dr. appt. Monday. Can’t wait. I am also seeing a new doctor so hopefully he’s good. I had pre-natal tests done last year at my dr. I’m hoping they transfer the records soon so I don’t have to retest for everything. I was hoping they were there before my appt. but so far, nothing. Darn it. I can’t wait to go though. Only 4 more days. I’ll be very happy once I get confirmation that all is well. Also I’d like to know how far along I am. Since I have a short cycle and O early I think that may affect it.
Okay, I better go. I’m having a horribly stressful day at work so I figured I’d come in here to *get away* for a few minutes. I’ll be back for SO’s later on. Happy Thursday everyone.:D:):)

quick question for the threadmistress - Any way we can get a post that lists all our due dates? I mean, i know that info is in the posts with the member info, but it would be kind of nice to see when everyone's due and how far apart we are :) If possible ;) Thanks! :D
