I'm a little worried, but hopefully this is nothing.

Last night, I went to pet my basset hound, who was laying on the couch on top of his blankie. I noticed something shiny near his 'thing', so I glanced down, and it was a couple of drops of urine (at least that's what it looked like). It was literally a couple of tiny drops, nothing that would saturate the blanket or anything like that.

Is it normal for dogs to tinkle a tiny bit while sleeping? Or should I be really worried about this. Ivan's been acting like his normal self, so no changes in behavior or anything like that. I just hope nothing's wrong with my pup. :(

I, too, have a basset hound, and he "leaks" a little every now and then. Sometimes it's even yellowish-green colored. I've mentioned it to my vet a few times, but she says he's healthy and it's nothing to worry about. Still, if you're worried, it probably wouldn't hurt to call the vet.

I've seen pictures of Ivan on this board, and he's really cute! We rescued our basset, Gavin, last year when he was 3. Bassets are the greatest dogs ever!

A couple drops is probably not something I would worry about. When they are sleeping certainly all the muscles relax, and maybe a drop or two will escape. If it continues, or worsens, or you notice changes in urination habits (accidents in the house, straining, peeing more often than normal, and obviously blood in the urine) those are all signs to get him checked out. Of course if you want to be super safe you could still get him checked out anyway.

Had he been outside to go potty recently? My boys will have this after they they've been out. I guess they don't know how to 'shake it off'!?

Oliver has full on peed the bed when he's been asleep before. It happens rarely but when it does he has been deeply asleep.
