Hi--I'm looking for a good hair detangler. Since I got my hair high-lighted, I've had a really hard time brushing it when it's wet. Usually I let it air dry before I brush it, but sometimes I want to blow dry it straight or make it curly.

I have thick hair and I get clumps coming out if I brush! I tried Aveda's detangler, but it really didn't do much...though it was better than without anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! :)

When my hair tangles...I know its time for a haircut. When my hair is freshly cut, it never tangles!

I also have noticed that Suave shampoo (the 99 cent kind) makes my hair tangle to no end.

Have you tried the good ol' Johnsons hair detangler? I think they still make it. I used to use that when I was little.

This might be it, although this isn't the bottle I am familiar with

The bottle used to have a little girl and her mom. The mom was brushing her hair while the girl was admiring a mirror or something.

I used to have really long and unruly hair, and I found the St. Ives detangler pretty good. Worth a try, and it's pretty cheap even it doesn't end up being good for you..so no real loss.

Thanks! :) I think I'll look for them when I go into town tomorrow.

I used to use a sunflower detangler (Freeman I think) back when I lived in Atlanta, but once I moved out of state, I was never able to find it again. I loved that stuff though. You could also make your own detangler using a light conditioner mixed with water. I also agree that when I have a good haircut, I have no tangles - bad haircut and I tangle like crazy.

I've used two with luck:

Frizz-Ease Leave-in fortifying spray
and
Loreal Kids Detangler - really! It comes in a green spray bottle.

I'd say the frizz-ease works better than the L'oreal - it is a bit heavier and feels more substantial, if that makes any sense.

Suave Kids detangler. It smells like green apples :)

I use a leave in conditioner- Infusium 23 and it also works as a detangler. I love it.

Thanks everyone! :) I wasn't able to find St. Ives when I went into town...but I found the Infusium 23. I've seen the commercials and decided to get the shampoo and conditioner as well as the spray. I'm still finishing my old shampoo/conditioner, so I only used the spray. It worked WONDERFULLY!!! :D I was very happy with it! Hardly any tangles, less hair being pulled out and a lot less pain! :D

I used Johnson and Johnson childrens detangler and it is great. (drugstore.com sells it if you can't find it where you are...)
