Hi everyone,

My sister-in-law and her fiance told my DH and I that they are flying to Vegas this weekend to get married. They are going to be our son's godparents at his Christening in two weeks and they said that after a 1 1/2 year engagement, they wanted to be married before baptizing him. They had some issues with planning a wedding for a while (mainly family issues) and want to be married already. My SIL said that they want to have a religious ceremony as well and keep it small with a dinner out afterwards.

Any idea what we should get them for their marriage? What could we give them now so they know we're thinking of them?

TIA

Maybe offer to pay for their hotel in Vegas

I like the idea of something to do with the hotel. If you want more of a consumable gift along those lines, I'm sure you can call the hotel and set up champagne and desserts from room service, or massages, or something like that.

Or you could check to see what shows are available the weekend they will be there, and buy them tickets. How fun, eloping to Vegas! :D

I definetly like the idea of setting something up for them while they are there. I think champagne and strawberries in their room would be awesome. Or even flowers in their room.

If you know where they are going for dinner after they get married you could pre pay for that. My husband and I eloped in Maui last year, and a couple at the restaurant paid for our meal (which was around $200). They told the restaurant not to tell us who did it. My husband and I both were very touched by this.

If they are having a whole other ceremony, they might register for gifts. You might want to keep whatever you do now small so you can get them something from their registry later. I'd find out where they are staying and have champagne sent to their room.

Thanks everyone! We're going to set up something at the hotel - what a great idea.

I hope it's okay, if I add onto this thread - jdevaz if not, let me know and I'll delete it.

I'm in a similar situation, but was looking for something cool to give/do for them when they get home? Any suggestions? Somthing like having a meal ready, flowers, can anyone think of something unique & special to do???
THANKS!
