I know I dried up on clomid big time before, and I suspect that I will again.

I know many of the ladies here have tried Pre-Seed. http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/pre-seed.html

Has anyone tried Slippery Stuff?

How about egg whites? Anyone try that?

We used Fem-Glide when we were TTC. I actually like it better than any other lube I've used over the years for non-TTC purposes. I bought a big bottle with a pump for fairly cheap from drugstore.com.

I think Femglide and Slippery Stuff are the same thing under different names. I haven't tried them, but I'm curious to hear what other think. Pre~seed is a little pricey.

I will say the cycle I got pg, we used KY every single time we BDed that cycle. Although, I still try not to use anything.

I am right there with LeslieR on the FemGlide. It's awesome. We also have the big pump one and joke that it's family-sized. ;)

When looking into it, FemGlide and PreSeed were the only sperm-friendly lubes I could find. That's not to say that others won't let them through too, but some of the lubricants have other things in them that might kill them off or slow them down.

We got Femglide just for TTC, and got pregnant the first cycle we used it. (It was cycle #5/month #7 overall of TTC.) Doubt it had much to do with our success, but it certainly didn't hurt anything.

Can you buy femglide at the drug store, or do you have to order it online?

Jenny ~ You can by Femglide at the drugstore. I just got some at Rite Aid.

I tried to find it at several stores but couldn't, so I gave up and went to drugstore.com. But good to know it exists out there. :)

If Slippery Stuff and Femglide are the same thing, that makes me happy. I used to use Slippery Stuff when DH and I first got together and it was indeed...slippery. In a good way!

I will also cop to having used eggwhites, though I am not PG yet. All I will say on that count is believe Toni Weschler when she says to make sure the egg is room temperature. Cold eggwhites in the hootie-bits = not a turn on!!

FemGlide and Slippery Stuff are two different brands of lubricant. I'm not sure whether or not SS is sperm-friendly, but FemGlide definitely is.

FemGlide and Slippery Stuff are two different brands of lubricant. I'm not sure whether or not SS is sperm-friendly, but FemGlide definitely is.

Actually they are made by the same company (Wal-Med). I did some reserach and SS has two different versions with different colored labels. This is from the website:

"The newer, thicker Gel formula with the blue label, was developed later for use in the medical community and is latex, pap smear test and sperm compatible."

Since they are made by the same co., I'm guessing they are the same thing or at least very close.

I can't find any of these IN a store :(

I did find Replens Intimate. The website makes it seem ok for BDing but I wanted to see if anyone had heard of it since I don't recall ever reading about it in any discussions here.

Just wanted to add a note about the FemGlide from drugstore.com -- You might want to start out with the smaller size. I ordered the big pump bottle, and since a little bit goes a long way.... well, let's just say that DH and I won't need to buy lube for a very, very long time! :p

Hula, there was a post about Replens on the other site. It was ok for TTC but slightly different than the others--the purpose wasn't just to be a lubricant. It is supposed to be for removing dead cells, just like if you scrub your skin with a loofah in the shower, you know? So I remember reading that the person (or persons) who tried it said to be aware that it can cause a bunch of grey discharge stuff afterwards, which are the dead cells.

I ordered my FemGlide from drugstore.com and was very happy with it. Definitely get the smallest tube you can. That stuff goes a long way!

Ditto the FemGlide from drugstore.com. I ordered the large pump-bottle and while it may last us a long time, I don't doubt we'll use it all ;). Actually, we don't normally use lube at all, but I wanted to give it a try & this stuff is a great addition!

Bump!

Does anyone know if Astroglide can kill sperm? DH and I use this regularly... and of course just bought a whole new bottle, but, it might be worth switching. TIA!

Twylla: I thought I read before that FemGlide and PreSeed are the only two that are sperm friendly. I can't find where I read that so I don't know if that will help.

Thanks Delaney! That's what I had heard as well, and what I was hoping I wouldn't hear. I guess I'll have to go find some different lube....

Mrs Tim... congrats again, and of course, all lubed BDing stories resulting in BFPs are most welcome here!!!!

OKAY...has anyone tried, or knows someone who has tried real raw eggwhites? Honestly, that just yucks me right out....I know in TCOYF it says that it's a safe and natural way to use lube, but...the thought just skeeves me!!

Bumping this thread. I just bought some Pre-Seed even though I've heard great things about FemGlide. Other than here though I just couldn't find any actual information on the internet that FemGlide was sperm friendly. Can someone point me in the right direction. Not that I don't believe all of you ;) but seeing is believing and if we go through this Pre-Seed I'm game to try something cheaper.

We used ID Millenium lube. The stuff doesn't dry out like KY always did for us. Keeps things just right (as you can see from the signature :)) Guess it was sperm friendly as we didn't have problems with it at all.

That egg whites thing, no way would I put them down there, would end up causing some sort of infection or something, no thanks.

Just a note: we conceived the first cycle we used pre-seed. But I didn't use the applicators as intended. There was way too much in one applicator.

It was pricey, but worth it for us!

Do these sperm-friendly lubricants actually help sperm motility, or do they just not damage sperm? We don't usually use lubricants when DTD, but now that we're TTC, I'm up for anything that helps!

So is it better to use the lubricant along with the natural cervical fluid, or should I skip it? Thanks!

flygirl

They don't help with motility, unfortunately; they're only good as replacements for lubes that harm sperm. Ejaculation usually occurs right up against the cervix & pushes the spermies into the uterus. Any cervical fluid in the vaginal canal is really only additional lube.

Since having both of my kids, DH and I have had to use lubricant when we DTD. We never had to before. Is this normal? I originally thought (and was told by my OB) that it was b/c I was breastfeeding and that my estrogen levels were lower. But now I haven't BF for over a year and I am still quite dry. We were using condoms with lubricant so it wasn't very noticeable but now that we are ttc again, I find it impossible to DTD without lubricant. Is this normal?
Thanks ladies.

I've decided on purchasing Pre-Seed. However, I am confused about how it is packaged! It states that it comes with either 3 or 6 applicators. Does that mean that, for example, if I bought the "3 applicator" package, that it could only be used 3 times? Are the applicators pre-filled? Does it come its own bottle/tube and you fill the applicators?

It appears that they don't sell FemGlide at Drugstore.com anymore. Any other suggestions on where to buy it.

Baxter for Pre-seed each applicator is a single "dose." Each applicator can only be used once. They also advise that you dispose of any remaining lube after it's been opened.

I just discovered our flexible spending account pays for pre-seed so I ordered 12 applicators of it from drugstore.com. :D I hope it helps! :p

We conceived DD after one cycle of not trying to avoid , and we used a generic target brand version of KY. Now that we are actually trying for #2 it has been 7+ months. So, hoping the preseed will help. I don't make very much lube on my own so for these 7 months we have been using the same generic target brand lube.

On a side note, my husband thinks the name "pre-seed" is hilarious.

MelissaLovesPugs - Just a vote of confidence for the Pre-seed. We did 4 rounds of clomid and with #'s 3 (chemical pg) & 4, we used Pre-seed & were successful. The 1st 2, obviously not. Good Luck with it! (& btw, I love pugs too!)
