Just saw this on CNN and was coming to post. She was so young, and yet I believe now she's been reunited with her husband. How hard this must be on their family.

You have to get up mighty early to get news on CC, hey?

If a mod does come merge the threads, maybe they could edit the title? Their last name is "Reeve". No 's'.

So horribly sad, I hope she is with her husband now. I didn't realize she was so close to death either. I feel so sorry for their children, and their whole family.

She was a huge inspiration to people like me, whose spouses need to be cared for. What a loss.

Good-bye, Dana. Thank you for all that you taught us about love, courage, and strength. May you fly in the arms of your Superman for all eternity.

Beautifully said.

I'm so sad about this. What an amazing woman. I can't believe she won't be in this world anymore. It's unreal. And her son, poor baby.

How truly sad this is. My heart really dropped when I heard about this. Wow - gone just 7 months after she announced this.

Not to hijack the thread - however, it really puts my mind in a reality check. In 2002, I was sick, asked to take an x-ray, sent for an MRI and told I had either sarcoid or lymphoma. After six months the doctors all told me I could not wait any longer for a lung biopsy - treatment is most responsive at 6 months or less they said. Finally, it was sarcoid.

From her positive attitude and her interviews I never thought her body would sucumb to this disease. My hearts aches for their family.

Well said Ysolde!

Having lost parents at a relatively young age, and both to miserable diseases (mom also to lung cancer), my heart and prayers go out to this child who is left behind to grow up without his parents to show him the way.

Damn, I really hated to hear this news this morning. She was *just* diagnosed! They said her prognosis was good! :(

What heartbreaking news. I feel so horrible for her son. I hope his brother and sister and the rest of his family are giving him all the love and support he needs.

This is so tragic! She was diagnosed with lung cancer 4 days after my Mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. My mom is 46 and Dana was 44. My Mother is now in remission but, it just makes me think. My Mom looked up to her while going through all of this and it feels like we lost a part of our family too. She was doing so well... I don't know what to say! I feel terrible for her family, they have been through so much.

So incredibly sad. The worst part is that she was a non-smoker who got lung cancer from second hand smoke. Absolutely ridiculous. (and makes me so pissed at the loser at works who smokes in his office)

There was an article on FOX News yesterday that said Will (their son) is going to live with friends of the family. He is already close to the son and it will allow him to stay at the same school and with the same circle of friends.

Lance Armstrong offers hope to orphaned Will Reeve

Having lost both his mother and father, plus his grandmother in the last 18 months, you could imagine that 13-year-old Will Reeve would be an emotional mess. However, Tour De France cycling champion Lance Armstrong says Will, the son of the late Christopher and Dana Reeve, is hanging in there.

"I would say that his spirits were pretty good considering that," Lance said. He has been a source of support for Will throughout Dana's battle with lung cancer, which ended last Monday. He even spent Wednesday just hanging out and comforting Will.

"All you can do is say, 'Hey buddy, I'm here if you want to go hang out, if you want to play games, whatever you want to do, I'm here," He said.

Dana, a nonsmoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer last August. Christopher died in 2004 from an infection. As for where Will will be placed, there has not been any word released on the Reeve's plan for their son in case of death.

Update: Robin Williams will be taking Will in, according to this news story. He promised Chris and Dana that he would in 1995. Chris and Robin became friends while students at the Julliard School of Drama.
