fundal height - I think someone asked what it is / how they do it?? It is just a measurement from the pubic bone (or thereabouts) up to the top of the uterus. Generally, right around 20 weeks, the top of the uterus should be around the belly button, then (I think) it grows about 1 cm / week??? Basically your fundal height should equal the # of weeks you are. That's how they can say if you are measuring ahead / behind. This is my understanding of it anyway! :)
kicks - makes sense about the placenta. Dr. said my placenta was posterior (in back) so that explains why I feel EVERY movement of this baby.
2Jacks - Hope you get comfortig news!
MIL in the delivery room - No way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks!
Kicks - i feel 'em. DH has felt a couple. Baby like cran-grape juice!
Private rooms - I think the hospital I'll deliver at has only private rooms. We'll see. Haven't scheduled a tour yet.
_______________
My Mom was in town for the past 4 days and she took me maternity clothes shopping for my birthday! I'm set for the rest of this, I think. I may need a couple more shirts and another pair of shorts or two, but she bought me a ton!
We closed on our condo Wednesday! We're officially homeowners! First DIY project: Tearing out icky black entryway tile. It's slow going and pissing off DH. First pay-someone project: Painting. It's on schedule and going well, but expensive, and pissing DH off.

Not much going on... mainly want to bump us back to the first page!
{b} Yeah on the condo!
daycare full time day care at my job is $1300/mo for an infant. We have seen a couple of places that are $1200/mo. Since both DH and my jobs are pretty flexible hours-wise the current plan is for me to return part time and we will adjust our schedules so that we don't need daycare at all. Hopefully it'll work out. Will have to see...
Have a great day ladies!

I just saw this in the Pregnancy section and thought we should keep her in our thoughts and prayers that the baby stays put:
5/20/06 11:53 pm.
I need some preggo advice. I'm in IL at my friends house (11-12 hours from home) and we went to the outlet mall today. Since we've been home, about 4hours, I have felt like crap. My back really really hurts and my stomach. It is kinda like contractions but not. I took a warm bath and when I was in it I could really feel my tummy getting tight. I'm having to watch my breathing and can't find a comfy position. Sometimes I can feel the pain get worse and then let up a little. I have no idea if I just over did it from walking around for 4-5 hours today and just need to rest more but it isn't getting any better.
Any advice? I really don't want to flip out about this especially since I'm so far from home but I also don't want to pass it off since I'm so far from home. I will say it is starting to freak me out just a little. I feel stupid posting this but I guess I just need some reassurance. You would think with my 3rd child I would have this preggo stuff down a little better!
5/21/06 10:31 pm
Thanks for the reply's! I ended being admitted to the hospital for pre-term labor. I was having contractions every 101-5 minutes but couldn't tell because of the back pain. Everything is under control now. I was suppose to fly back home today but the doc said I was at high risk for the labor to start back up if I flew within 24 hours so I am flying back tomorrow night.

Hey ladies, not much new to report but since this thread is slow, I am posting a new QOTD!
QOTD - Cravings What is your weirdest craving so far?
I have one strange craving and a couple funny ones. The strange one is dry jello (the sugar kind, not the sugar free). I must be needing more gelatin for some reason because it didn't seem at all weird to spoon the jello right out of the bag without any water. DH looked at me like I was nuts, but just smiled and said nothing. :) The funny ones were cooked, plain, lasagna noodles - guess I was needing some starch and deviled eggs. I actually started making deviled eggs at 9:30 at night because I wanted them so bad. Then I ate all 5eggs that I made and didn't even feel sick!

cjones Hope you are doing okay now! Keep us posted.
LylMyssChaos thank you for posting that.
cjones I hope you are taking it easy. What a terribly scary situation to be in so far from home. {{sticky}} vibes
Mat wear I am beyond frustrated right now. I bought a pair of mat pants about a week ago and they were wonderful ... well after they were washed I now have capris!! I figured they might scrink a little but they lost seriously 2 inches!! Grr.
nursery We started painting the nursery this weekend. DH was so excited because the Fatzy gave him lots and lots of kicks the other day and decided he wanted to start painting. He did the rough paint and I will have to go in and do all the finishing touches. It is so wonderful to walk into the room and see the cheery colours on the walls and know our little baby will be in that room 4 months from now.

Hey all
QOTD - Spet b-day's and school cut-off. I'm pretty sure that the cut-off here is either August 31st or September 1st so our son will be one of the older ones in school since he'll have to wait an extra year... I'm not thrilled mostly because I'd rather not have to pay daycare for an extra year, but I'd rather he be one of the older than one of the younger (my sister was an August 29th b-day and always the youngest and smallest). In a perfect world, I'd want his birthday to be as late into September as possible so he'd have some time to make friends before it was time for birthday parties, but that's not really a big deal at all.
QOTD - Daycare arrangements. Yes, we've made arrangements - we're on the wait list at our current son's daycare for an opening in January and we should get it. If you are in a major metropolitan area and are looking for a daycare center it might be a good idea to get on a few wait lists now - even if you haven't decided which daycare you like the best. It's a small investment (we paid $30 at one place, $50 at the other) and you never know how long the wait lists are. I can tell you that for the two daycares I've been in positions tend to open up Jan 1, June 1, and September 1 because that's when the older kids transition up and out into a bigger program. Some of the daycares we really loved had ridiculously long wait lists so I don't think it hurts to get on the list early.
Someone (forgot who, sorry) wondered why infants are so much more expensive than bigger kids - it's because infants have a lower child to teacher ratio. For example, in most states it's 3 or 4 infants per teacher and, as the children get older, each teacher is responsible for more children. So when you can have the same number of kids but fewer staff or more kids and the same number of staff, it's easier to spread the cost of the teachers salary out.
As to cost our current daycare (in a close-in DC suburb so this would be comparable to metropolitan area rates) is $1290/month. Also FYI most centers have rate increases in September to coincide with the start of a new academic year to cover cost of living increases etc.
Cravings - red meat. I get red meat cravings whenever my iron gets a little low. So far my ob hasn't mentioned it, but I'm guessing I'm running a little lower than my body likes.
------------------
Update on Me - I had an OB appointment last Friday when I was 21 weeks... It was early in the morning and I was tired so it didn't occur to me until I left, but she (it was actually the nurse practitioner) seemed to think I was only 20 weeks. Odd. We scheduled all the rest of my appointments all the way out so that was nice. I don't start going every two weeks until 30 weeks (every two weeks after 30 weeks) and then I think every week starts at 36 weeks.
Also she measured me again - just by pushing on the tummy (I think a measurement of fundal height but without the tapemeasure?) and now I'm measuring right on schedule. Ok...
Nothing else too exciting - I asked about the intense round ligament pain I'm feeling when I first stand up and she said that there's really not anything I can do about that. I knew that, but wanted to ask anyway.
We asked my son what he thought we should name the new baby since we can't seem to come to agreement on our own. He (remember he just turned two last month) suggested we call the new baby "Lets Go Mets". In fact for the next 20 minutes he walked around saying "Baby name Lets Go Mets. Hi Baby! Hi Lets Go Mets." My husband, the Mets fan in the family, thought this was hysterical. Since I'm a diehard RedSox fan I wasn't quite as amused...

qotd - Cravings...I REALLY want a margarita (and not a virgin one!) I tried getting a virgin one, and it just didn't taste like I wanted. (And not for the booze, just for the taste!) I had this craving with #1, and I am only fearing it will get worse as we get to summer. Yikes!!! (My preggo confession, I will have a sip of DHs when we go for Mexican food...I savor that sip!) LOL!

That's too funny!! It sounds like my daughter who when we are asked what is the baby's name(we also haven't decided) gives the answer "Wee Willy Winky." I swear my FIL must have taught her that one.

Cravings: I have stange ones every now and then. I feel like I go on kicks of wanting to eat a certain thing for awhile. Lately it has been having a bagel w/ cream cheese for breakfast every single morning. I also eat like 1-2 Otter Pops a day :o Other than that, the cravings change on a daily basis.
I have been feeling pretty good lately but man do I feel HUGE! I swear that everyone stares at me wherever I go. I can't believe I will be getting any bigger in the months to come!

cjones ~ You're in my prayers.
cravings ~ ribs. Normally I think they are disgusting. I've hated them all my life. You're gnawing on a bone for God's sakes...blech. However, with this pg that's all I want. We went to a bbq place over the weekend and I ate a 1/2 of rack... and could've eaten more:eek:
Normally I live for red meat. Love me some cow. I guess this baby doesn't dig on it. I am avoiding it. It just doesn't look good to me. All I craved with my 1st pg was pepperoni pizza.
School cutoff is Sept 1 here. I'm a little concerned about that. If that's the case than 1st DS will be in his 1st year of college when 2nd DS will be starting H.S. I wanted them to be a senior/freshman together. It's something small in the grand scheme of things but I still think about that.

Happy Monday all.
Cravings: I have recently switched from egg salad to bologna & cheese sandwiches with yellow mustard. Can’t get enough.
School cutoff- the district we currently live in is Sept. 1. I am fine with this since my kids will all be within 3 years of age but spaced 4 years in school. We’ll have a senior, a sophomore & an eighth grader;)
cjones- thinking of you
We had our follow up Level II this morning & the choroid plexus cyst has resolved itself. We still have to go back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound, but so far, so good. I am still completely worried & paranoid, but trying to think all happy thoughts.
... but man do I feel HUGE! I swear that everyone stares at me wherever I go. I can't believe I will be getting any bigger in the months to come!
I am the opposite. I think I am pretty PG looking but I got so many "you are expecting?" comments this weekend. I'm starting to get annoyed now :)
Cravings none that are really strange. I love strawberries and Haagen Dazs ice cream bars. DH better get a good headstart the day I find we have run out of both :D

Koala gurl OMG, I am so with you on the margarita craving! I had a sip of DH's sat night and it was awesome, but it didn't satisfy the craving... :(
cjones hope you made it home okay. Got my fingers and toes crossed that your baby stays put!
LMC how ya holding up on the bed rest???
Mommy2AlliWill I have no idea what a choroid plexus cyst is, but so glad its gone!
I am so bored at work today... maybe I can get out of here early???
Hey, anyone thinking about their baby showers? I'm starting to get asked a lot. Especially people wanting to know where I've registered! I have got to get busy!
baby showers I know they are planing to do one at work. I know they are super excited about it and so am I to be honest. However, no one in the family have mentioned it ... at all. I have told DH to tell anyone who mentions a possible shower that I really, really do not want a surprise shower. I have occational panic attacks and surprise events are not something I do well.
I have been thinking of registering. Especially for the work shower as I know they will want to know (our families tend to just buy what they want, not really want we want/need). Does anyone have a list to use as a guide to register?

Re: Registry guideline list - I know that they have some suggested lists at Babies R Us (I'm sure they are on the website as well as in the store). Of course, they are trying to make you believe you actually need all that stuff, and you don't. If I were you I'd print out that list and then maybe compare it to suggestions in the Baby Bargains book or your own common sense. For example, I'm sure the registry list suggests that you register for lots of little clothes - not necessary. A few things sure, but so many people will just buy you little clothes that you don't need to ask for additional ones.
I just checked and my old registries aren't online anymore (I had one at BRU and one at Target) so I don't have them to repost and share - sorry!

cravingsnothing too wierd at all. With DS it was canned peaches. I started the pg with an egg and cheese biscuit from McDonalds. BUt now it is a big bowl of choc ice cream with hot fudge and pb cups. My food of choice during stress. I ate one daily before the wedding too!
DH took Ds to ped this morning - she feels he does have a slight case of CP- so we are being referred to Children's Hospital. I feel comforted by this- strangely- I want a diagnosis and Children's is the best place to go in the MidWest other than Mayo of course.
So we can make our apt tomorrow- they should get the docs reprot pronto. I like that she is so on it!

This is where i will / did deliver. The one I was in actually had a big area to the right of the bed ( if you were in it) with the warmer etc... and a whole nother space equal to the size of what you see at the foot of the bed. But believe me- I didn't care if I was in a barn! I also really didn't notice!
Thinking of you, cjones. Hope all is well!

Well, I just saw my doctor for a blood pressure re-check and I am starting to get toxemia. They gave me a prescription for blood pressure medication and said we'd start out with a low dose 2 times a day, but it could go up to 4 times a day. I also have to limit my sodium intake to less than 1000 mg a day(which is most likely going to be the hardest part especially because I'm still supposed to be on limited activity.) My next appointment is June 7, and they will do my glucose test, rhogham shot and another ultrasound then.

250 mg of Aldomet twice a day, and they will watch things with the chance of it going up to 500mg 4 times a day. It has not been fun adjusting to this medication at all. It is making me sooooo tired and groggy!

LMC ~ take care of yourself. My best friend went through what you're going through with her 1st pg. She's now pg with her 3rd and they are very careful with her blood pressure. Here's hoping all is well with you.
For those that are registering at BRU. When you go you will get a big folder with all kinds of info on it and a couple of pages of items that are recommended you register for. The one thing I can recommend having the first few days at home are the side snap tshirts from gerber. They're awesome for a new baby with a belly button nub.
Have fun with registering and your showers. It's such a great time in life.

Not that you all asked, but I'm going to add my commentary to the list that Cosmic posted... mostly because work is REALLLLLLLLY slow today and I've got nothing better to do. Please feel free to take it or leave it.
Well, anything that I have comments on that is. I mean, of COURSE you need a crib right? In order to not make this post any more huge than it has to be, I'm just cutting out everything that I have no opinion on - so this isn't a complete list anymore, but maybe something you can use to modify your lists if that helps.
BABY BEDDING & ROOM DECOR
~fitted crib sheets-4 (get with elastic all the way around) - Also someone makes a special sheet that is really good for quick and frequent changes, it can be hard to get the sheet on and off under the bumpers etc - RO's do you know what I'm talking about? We never had one, but for parents with babies that have a lot of leaking I hear it's great.
~Swaddle Me Adjustable Newborn Fleece Wrap I've heard great things about the Amazing Miracle Blanket which is a swaddle blanket - again, no personal experience
~mobile to match theme You may not want a matching mobile - make sure you get one where the baby, ie someone laying UNDER the mobile, can see the designs and animals and whatnot. Too many of them are really cute - to us looking from the side/top but are really boring from underneath
~diaper stacker Totally unnecessary but pretty if you want it
~baskets We have a couple of these that store random odds and ends - they are useful but I'd rather gift givers give me something else - you can always find baskets for cheap on sale at Michaels or something
~diaper bags If you receive several don't take the tags off all of them until you get a better feel for what you'll use. I used a small one from Eddie Bauer constantly the first year - I also got a huge Eddie Bauer one that I've only used maybe three times. Yes, I bought a new one a year later, but it really took me that long to figure out exactly what size and qualities I needed
~contoured changing pad & covers You don't need a ton of covers. I have two. But I also have things that are called "lap pads" - they are little thick fabric squares, maybe 12 in by 12in. You can put these on top of the changing cover so that any poop leaks end up on them. THey are much cheaper and maybe 3-4 to a pack. That way if you dirty several in a short period of time you don't have to race to do laundry. Some people also use these to put under a drooly babies face to save blankets, couches, clothes what not.
~blankets Again, don't cut the tags. People seem to really like giving blankets so you may have a lot of extras. You'll want some lighterweight blankets for warmer weather and swaddling and some heavier blankets for when it gets cooler
~Pack n Play Some people get a ton of use out of these, for some it's wasted. If you live on a multilevel house you might find this more useful - especially if you get one of the ones with a changing table attachment on the top. That way if, for example, your TV room is in the basement but the babies room is on the second floor (my house) you don't have to go all the way up and down to change the baby or to have a confined sleeping area.
~basket liners Maybe I'm a moron, but I don't know what these are. Fabric things to go in your baskets? I guess pretty, but not neccesary
~boppy This is another love it or hate it item. Many moms didn't like the fit of the boppy - particularly if you are a little larger person the "C" shape may not contour to your body as well as it does a smaller person. If you have throw pillows around, like the kind you keep on a couch, those might be just as useful
~inclined to sleep (keeps baby on their back while sleeping) Brand new babies will be stuck on their backs, so don't worry about that. What these are good for is if your baby is colic-y. They are shaped sort of like a wedge so your baby can have his/her head elevated so liquid isn't as likely to back up and cause reflux. For us this was very helpful but unless your baby has this problem, this may be a useless item for you.
CLOTHING
Footie sleepers are your best friends.
sweater Sweaters are really hot. I wouldn't bother with the expense except for pictures or nice occasions. They are hot and they get drolled on or spit up on quickly.
snowsuit In all likelihood our kids will be too small to play in the snow. That said, this is a really good item to find at a yardsale or ebay or something. Kids don't get that much wear out of them per year so no reason to pay full price
bibs The tiny little ones are really only good as drool cloths. Perfect for early days but later when your child is eating baby food and then real food you'll want something bigger.
appliances
~vaporizer/humidifier I read somewhere that you should look for a "cool mist" humidifier so that there would be no risk of burns.
~diaper genie Diaper genie is a brand name and they require specific bag insters. Ours is something else (diaper dekor maybe?) but it works well and uses regular garbage bags. I'm told the diaper genie really is the best at keeping the smell down, but if you can take the trash out regularly, there's no reason to pay the extra investment involved in the special bag refills
~baby swing My son hated this, but lots of kids love them - there's no way to know in advance. If no one buys this for you, it's certainly something you don'tHAVE to have or invest in if money is tight. Or check your yardsales and consignment shops.
BOUNCER This was the only way we could get my son to sleep for months. But again, not all babies like them. Fortunately, these aren't as expensive.
car & stroller stuff
~car seat - If you have more than one car you don't need to get a "bucket" car seat for both cars. Just buy an extra base. That way you can transfer the seat from car to car.
DIAPERS & WIPES
--do you register for these? I don't see why not - I've never seen anyone registered for them, but I have given them to people. After all, diapers are expensive and it may take some experimenting to figure out which brand works best for you.
NURSING & BOTTLES
~ bottles There are a lot of bottle brands out there - and I have no idea about the truth of claims that they all made. I'll just tell you that we used the Avent bottles and they didn't leak and worked great for us.
-Avent Isis manual pump If you will be returning to work or need to pump frequently I strongly recommend the Medela Pump In Style (regular or advanced) It works much faster than a manual pump and can pump both breasts at once.
-Extra bottles, 9oz If you want extra bottles that's great - but some babies like some nipples more than others, so don't open all the packages until your certain of what kind of bottle nipple your child will like.
-Avent bottle warmer Our bottle warmer mostly took up space on the counter. You can also microwave or boil some water until it's hot and float the bottle in that until the milk in the bottle is warm. It's just about as fast, and saves counter space and money.
-Avent Micro Steam Sterilizer I always wondered if my sterilizer was working - it's another "take up space" item. I boiled bottles/nipples/anything else in a big pot on the stove - seemed ok to me
SAFETY STUFF
~monitor One thing I love about my monitor is that it has lights as well as sounds. So as the child gets bigger and sometimes talks themselves to sleep you can turn the sound off (like if you're watching tv) but you can still see based on the gradient of light weather it's normal noise or unhappy noise. This is an excellent feature imho.
~thermometer
Random medicine's I'd have on hand - mylicon drops (to help with gas), infant tylenol, infant motrin (stronger than tylenol). These are things that, if you need them in the middle of the night, you don't want to have to go looking for them. I'll keep pondering if there's anything else really important that wasn't on the original list.

Here are a few more thoughts (of course, every situation is different!)
blankets - You will probably get a TON of them...the best for me were the thin flannel like ones (pretty much just a cut of material w/ the edges made nice). All the thick ones, we never used (though, DD was born in March!) If you have a favorite, register for it, but otherwise you'll get them.
Sheets - I registered for a bunch of sheets, but I only really need 2 (just so I can change them w/out having to wait for them to be washed.) DD never leaked, and when she had a stomach bug, I just used some sheet protectors (they are like nice mattress pads, with ties on each side to tie to the crib, and maybe only about 18 inches long...they fit the width of the crib, but only cover about 18" of surface, does that make sense?) Anyway, these are much easier to throw in the wash than taking off the whole darn sheet (cuz I have to take the bumper off to really make it easy to get the sheet!)
Bumper - if you get a duplicate (and can manage it), keep it! I have 2 bumpers and it make it SOO MUCH easier to change the sheets when I can replace all the sheets / bumper at once. (I still have the bumper in DDs crib...it is so soft, she likes to spoon it!) LOL!
bottles, warmers, sterilizers Only register for a small amout of this stuff. I have a TON of bottles and a warmer that have never been used (DD never took a bottle). I tried every brand, so I have a bunch of all one brand from my shower, and then one of every other brand. In hindsight, I would have just bought a few for myself, and then gone from there. For cleaning bottles, sippy cups, I just threw them in the dishwasher (no sterilizing, except the initial time.)

Cosmic - I'm printing that list for my future reference. Thanks! Hey...is your mom planning a shower for you? If you so you'll have to let me know so I can come!! :-)
If she is, she hasn't told me yet. :p The funny thing is that my MIL has asked for a list of friends up here.

LMC and everyone else - Thanks so much for posting!! It means a lot to me!!
Update - I did go into pre-term labor over the weekend but they were able to stop everything. I saw my regular OB yesterday for a follow up. I was sent for a FFP to make sure I wouldn't go into labor in the next 2 weeks but we won't have the results until this morning. I was not put on bed rest but am suppose to sit with my feet up most of the day and rest, no more "relations" the rest of the pregnancy and I'm not suppose to travel anymore. I begged on the travel thing because I'm suppose to fly to my mom's next week and stay with her for 5 weeks. My OB wasn't thrilled but when he remembered I was home now and not working. I told him if I go to my mom's she will be there all day to help me with the girls and I would be able to get some rest. If I stay home there is no one here to help so he finally agreed. I go in next Tuesday for my regualr scheduled appointment. They will do a repeat u/s and glucose test.
Thyroid issue - The doc who admitted me to the hospital ran a lot of blood work since he didn't have all of my history. I had all the symptoms of hypothyroid also. My TSH (thyroid test) came back on the low normal side. My Free T4 came back very low. I guess this is the new test for thyroid and is much more accurate. I'm still a little confused by it all. The doc who saw me has done several clinical trials in regards to thyroid/obstetrics. He said most docs don't go by the Free T4 because it's a newer test. He strongly believes I need to be on a thyroid medication. I talked to my doc yesterday and he completely blew me off!!! He said my thryoid test (the TSH) was normal last time they checked it. I told him about the Free T4 and he didn't seem interested but did ask if I would get the lab results from the hospital and bring to my appointment next week. From what I have read this is something that needs treatment and can cause development delays in children born to moms with hypothryroid. This concerns me a lot. I'm going to take in my test next week and see what he says. I hate to switch OB's but this sounds like something not to mess with. It also sounds like it would be very hard to find an OB that would go by the new test instead of the old one.
I will try to get caught up today since I'm sitting around with my feet up!!!

cjones - I'm glad they were able to stop the labor.
Cosmic - One of my friends asked me for a list of names. I think she is planning a shower to take place either July 29 or August 5.
B - I haven't felt kicks that high yet...but I have noticed that the kicks seem to be getting slightly higher. One of my friends was just telling me on Sunday that the further along I get, the kicks will start being felt higher. She has a friend who actually got a cracked rib from her baby's kicks!
Speaking of kicks - I was at this program at church on Sunday and this lady started singing a solo. Her voice was EXTREMELY LOUD! While she was doing that LOUD singing, my baby must have been turning flips in my tummy!! She was REALLY moving and kicking!!!! And she stopped after the lady quit singing! hahahaha! :)

B: Sometimes DD seems to be really high and at other times it feels like she is playing soccer with my bladder.
CJones: Its good to hear that your providers were able to stop the pre-term labor. Keep your feet up.
Whoa...its been almost 5 years since DS was born and I have completely forgotten how extensive these baby lists can get.
Our son was a minimalist. He was so easy to take care of that he it was almost unreal. We took advantage of all of the receiving blankets that we had because I didnt want his face on anything that had not been washed with baby detergent. So I always placed a receiving blanket over the shoulder of anyone who held him.
The Boppy, IMO, was great because it made trying new BFing positions easier, because I was comfy and so was he. Plus I found it useful for propping him up and giving him a little tummy time.
Gowns made it easier for daddy to get practice with changing diapers w/o having to worry about little snaps on onesies. I'll have to try the side snap t-shirts, we didnt have those the first time around.
DS hated the swing and vibrating chair, but like someone said earlier, you never know until they get here.
I think that all of the lists provided were great for registries because family and friends have lots to choose from. Whenever I host a baby shower, I always enter guests who bring diapers in a raffle. I let guests know in the invitation that if they bring a bag of diapers (sz 1 and up) they will be entered into a drawing for a prize. All of my friends loved not having to worry about diapers for a while.

God, I feel pregnant. I have the preggo 'waddle' down perfectly now - no more real walking for me!
I've got a horrible pain in my right leg/groin/hip area since early this morning. It really hurts to walk, particularly after I've been sitting for awhile. I've basically been doing the limp/waddle all day. Wonder what it is, or if I just pulled a muscle.
cjones So glad to hear that you and the little one are ok!
Well, I must go lie down until DH gets home, then we are off to MIL's for supper.

CJones - I'm so glad to hear that you and the pumpkin are not in labor anymore. It's great news about your trip to visit your mom. I'll bet she'll be really happy to see you before the baby comes. Definitely look into an alternate provider if you feel yours is ignoring your concerns. Ask him what the downside of the medication would be? Can it hurt you if there's no problem?
Dawny - Have you tried lying on your side for a bit? Sometimes that helps me slide things over and realign so the pain calms down.

Mod here. You currently have close to 1300 posts. We like to see threads restarted between 1300-1500 posts. So, when one of the threadmistresses get a moment, if you could start a new thread, that'd be great. Thanks. :)
Thank you so much for all the registry suggestions. I will definitely keep this in mind when we go to do ours.
QOTD When did/will you start your registry?
I am wondering if it would be too early to start thinking about this. I mean as far as I know there are no showers planned other than one at work and I know it probably won't be until August. However, I thought it might be nice to narrow down my choices in preparation in an effort to avoid being overwhelmed when we do the final registry.

QOTD - MSH, I don't think its too early to register. We have already registered and our Shower is planned for July 29th. The only thing that I recommend you do is to make sure you go in and update your registery a week or 2 before your shower to make sure that everything you registered for is still available. I know that is what we are doing. HTH :)

I have my 1 hour GTT on Tuesday and I am freaking out about it. Since I have gained a lot of weight (19 pounds :o ) I am worried I won't pass. Also, my blood pressure has been high and they ran some tests. In my kidneys my creatine (I think) levels were abnormal so I guess they'll see what they are going to do about it at my next appointment. I have NEVER had high blood pressure in my life so I am wondering if anybody knows what could be causing it? I have read that if you have diabetes then this may cause the creatine level. Anyways, hoping they can get this blood pressure thing figured out and that I pass my 1 hour.
Take care ladies.

Sorry I am way behind here. orry for anyone that I missed.
Di- I am sorry about your MIL
MomtoAlliandWill-Yay! so glad that the cyst situation has resloved, what great news.
Cjones-How scary, please take care of yourself and rest.
LMC- I hope the meds work and your bp stablizes.
GTT- I had GD last time, so i most likely will have it again. I don't think it has anything to do with the amount of weight gained. I am very thin to begin with (under 100) and only gained maybe 15 lbs at the time I was diagnosed. I gained 27 lbs in total and was able to control the GD by diet. Good luck to everyone, I hope you pass.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I just got back from the doctor, so I thought I'd update everyone. I had an allergic reaction to the meds, so they had to change it to something different. Now we will be waiting to see if the rash goes away. They removed the sodium restriction too because apparently I've lost 6 pounds since Monday because there is so little you can eat when limiting your sodium so much. Whoo Hoo! I am so excited to be able to eat again!

Week 25!! Another week gone by! Just 15 more to go...well...actually only 13 more to go since I will be having a scheduled C-section at least two week prior to the due date.
I have my glucose test on next week also (my apt is June 1). I sure hope I pass!! I'm not too good with diets! Should I avoid eating too many sweets next week? My doctor's office told me not to eat or drink any sweets the night before the test and the morning of the test. But I'm thinking that I may do that starting Sunday or Monday (my test is on Thursday). Is that cheating the test? I just don't want to get a false positive.
I also have another ultrasound scheduled for Thursday. I am really nervous since last time they mentioned a potential problem with one of the baby's kidneys. I hope it was just an imaging problem.
Registering - I will probably register within the next two weeks. I'm going to register at BabysRUs and Wal Mart. I am also planning on ordering my baby bed within the next two weeks!! YEAH!!! My friends have scheduled me a baby shower for July 22. I can't wait!

24 weeks 3 days Baby is pretty busy in there but usually at night. I walk so much during the day I don't feel it as much as when I lay down to go to bed. I guess whenever I take a shower she knows that I am finally really going to sit down. So she decides to wake up. I have bought bibs for the new baby but no clothes. My DD is 3 and was born in January so I think I need to get on the ball so that this baby will have something to wear. On the name front. Alyssa Ann looks like what she will be named. When my brother found out that they were having a boy they asked my nephew what they should name him and he said I think Grandpa from Texas sounds like a good name. Which is what he calls my dad. Since they live in Colorado and we live in Texas so when the baby was born my 4 year old nephew said ok I guess we can call him Tyson.

Hey ladies - I can't believe that the third trimester thread is just around the corner!!
I had a bit of a mental breakdown last night - just too much stuff going on in life right now. We closed on a new house yesterday, haven't sold the house we are living in, DH got a new job and resigned from his old one, school and work are totally hectic, and I feel completely not ready or even excited for the baby because of everything else going on. I feel better today and am really looking forward to a long weekend to relax a bit.

A few things for the baby...
The other night my friend came by with this gift for the baby. She was so excited about it that she couldn't wait until the shower to give it to me!! It's a custom made rocking horse! It will be a LONG time before the baby is able to play on it...but it's so cute in person...
http://images1.snapfish.com/346%3B85252%7Ffp345%3Enu%3D3248%3E%3B%3C5%3E%3B79% 3EWSNRCG%3D323377%3B5%3C455%3Cnu0mrj
And I made this bracelet for the baby!! It is tiny and so cute! It's made with sterling silver beads, Swarovski crystals and Swarovski pearls. If you ladies that are having girls would like me to make you one for your little one, I'll gladly do it for you for just the cost of the materials. It will cost approximately $1 per letter (which I order online) plus $2 for the other beads and clasp. I'm not trying to solicit business or anything...I won't be making any money off of these.

LMC_ Take care of yourself!
craft- that is gorgeous. I have a mother's bracelet that is similar & now I'll need to ahve another strand added for this baby. If I knew we were having a girl & if we cold decide on a name, I'd take you up on that:)
ez- I had GD with one but not the other, so there is hope.
I don't think it is too early for any of you guys to register. You never know when people might have a shower in the works & you can always edit your registry later if you change your mind on stuff.
Not much new here. I had my 24 week appointment last night & it was great. The doctor reassured me that all these repeat ultrasounds are so that the perinatologists can be 100% sure that all is okay.
24 weeks, 5 days.
Had an appointment yesterday - it was a quickie, pee in a cup, blood pressure thing. Everything looks great so far! Finally gaining a little weight.
We're moving Monday to the new condo! Paint and floors are done, furniture is being delivered soon, so exciting! I LOVE the paint color I chose for the baby's room - a sage green. I love that room already and there
s nothing in there! So much still to do, and we've almost already blown our budget before even buying appliances and having the kitchen refaced...
GTT is in two weeks for me.
Has anyone's bellybutton popped out yet? When will/does that happen, anyone know? Does it hurt? Why am I afraid this is going to hurt?
Childbirth classes - have you signed up yet? When are they offered? What type/style of class are you taking? (Lamaze? Bradley, etc.?)

Morning ladies.
Don't have much time to post, so hope everyone is feeling great!
GTT I was given my orange glucose syrup drink thing at my last appt and told to get it done between now and my next appt. I'm really not worried about it at all. Hope everyone passes!
bellybutton I've been wondering about this too. I am so worried about having an outtie! Ugh. Does everyone get an outtie, or is it possible it'll stay in there???
childbirth classes we just signed up for lamaze classes. There are two classes, each being 4hours long. I am still debating on taking additional classes. They offer an infant cpr class we are thinking about taking. Any RO's ever take a breastfeeding class? Are they worth it?
Gotta run. So so so thankful we have a long weekend. I am not going ANYWHERE! Yeah!!!!!! We are going to clean and start looking for things for the nursery.
Oh yeah, MSH you are doing an awesome job with maintaining our thread. Thanks, and I can't believe we are so close to the third trimester
Happy Memorial Weekend girlies :)
We don't have any major plans for the weekend as DH will be working Monday (we are in Canada). Tomorrow I am going to see a friend and go on a picnic with her and her baby boy. Sunday and Monday I plan to work on the nursery in hopes of getting the mural done by the time our furniture arrives.
I have my next OB appt. on Tuesday, I don't expect it will be more than just a quick visit ... BP, pee in a cup, HB, weight etc. We should be making the appt for my 1hr GTT though and I will ask them when I switch to every other week.
batgirl Thank you very much for the compliments I try my best :)
{b} Good luck with the move. I am sure it will go just fine. I LOVE sage green, I can't wait to see how your nurery turns out.
mommy2AlliWill I am so glad to hear your appt. went well. While, I know I was a little nervous when the u/s tech asked me "why are you here? Is anything wrong with the baby/PGcy. We normally only do level II for high risk" He freaked me right out but my OB assured me it was just for the extra detail. Which was very nice.
craftgenius I love that rocking horse. How incredibly sweet of your friend. The bracelet you made is adorable, you did a great job.
twink oh wow you sure have a lot going on. I hope you are able to get settled into the new place soon as get the old one off the market so you don't have to worry about it any longer. Dh also just started a new job a couple of months ago and it does make me a little nervous, however he loves it and so far is getting along great with everyone.
alliesmomma03 I love the name Alyssa. I is one of my top contenders but DH doesn't like it, plus he is convinced the baby is a boy and hasn't really considered any girl names. This baby will be known just as 'baby' for the first few days of her life if it is a girl :)
________________
Belly button Mine is definitely starting to strech but I am not so sure it will become an outtie (sp?) I will have to get another belly shot done from the front to really tell the difference.
Classes We haven't signed up for any at this point. I would like to take a Lamaze class and possibly a BF class. I won't be taking infant CPR as I just got me certification back in December but I will say it could be very useful to know and the class doesn't take long. Mine was part of a First Aide and CPR course at work, so it was paid for by the company.
Just out of curiosity I was wondering if you plan to CD or DD your baby?
We are planning on CDing DC, however will be using DD until the cord falls off. A good friend of mine had her baby in March and has been CDing. Watching her I am very confident this will work for us. I've always wanted to CD as it was what my parents did with me and I never really considered DDing. Also we have a garbage limit of 1 bag per household per week, so DDing would put us over the limit. I think there is a way to seek a special permit for families but I haven't researched that too much at this point.

MSH We CD'ed Ds and we'll CD DD, too. I love doing it, actually. PM me if you ever want to ask questions or show off cute dipes!
bellybutton With DS mine came flush with my belly (does that make sense?) but never came out. It's already peeking out this time around  . I don't know if that's because I'm showing faster with #2, because I weigh less than I did with #1, or if it's because I am certainly carrying differently this time around. Some days it is tender at the top, but I had a belly button ring in (took it out way before I became pregnant) and I often wonder if that's why. Otherwise, no pain from popping yet.

classes if you're planning to bf, i would totally take a class, i'd also get a good book and the number of a local lactation consultant that is ibclc certified http://www.iblce.org/US%20registry.htm. really though, some of the best advice i got was from here on the bf'ing thread. i also took the cpr class and plan to take a refresher course.
bellybutton mine just goes flat.
diapers i considered cd'ing last time, but i'm just too lazy, we use dd's.

QOTD - We'll be using disposies, but only because my husband is so vehemently against cloth. *sigh* I can't believe a cop is so prissy. The whole poo/pee thing really wigs him out. Oh well. I think I'll get a couple of cloth ones, just for when I'll be the only one dealing with the mess.
ETA - Hubbie is very, very traditional and can be a bit rigid. I'm honestly amazed at how easily he's gone along with some of the things that I wanted, so the DD vs. CD fight isn't worth it to me.

cjones I have hypothyroid. My ob last time did a TSH each month in the lst tri since your blood volume increases. I wound up going up a notch in the lst month only. This is important because the baby can be effected as well as miscarry. I am not positive on the exact reprecussions, but I believe it is a cognitive thing for the baby.
craft ADORABLE bracelet. Once I get DH pinned down on a name- I know what I want. I would love one of those! You should make mother / baby bracelets- I was given one with my son's name on it and post birth it wouldn't even come close to fitting. I was bummed, but it did eventually fit and I love it!
Would you consider making me a mother's and a baby one? How would you like to be paid and also- MAKE A LITTLE money off of them and put it in an account for your new baby! That would be a great thing to do!
Had my Ob appt yesterday. Things are well. I have gained 27 lbs so far! Much better than the 75+ I did last time!
I asked him about CP and a genetic link, he said he wasn't aware if there is any genetic testing to be done for that- ( we may consider doing some should we diecide to have another baby) But he gave me the name of a geneticist who is also a pediatrician. He also told me that as a general rule- genetically transfered diseases follow the X chromosome- so boys are higher risk than girls. So now I can sleep better knowing that this girl might be ok.
Plus we still don't know what we are dealing with with DS, so I am trying not to diagnose him myself and relax until we know more which will be June 2nd at his first visit with a Specialist at CHW who deals with all these things.
Also talked to OB about Jury duty. I have to serve the 3rd week on July. that makes me 6 weeks until D-Day. He said he would write me a note if I needed it- I will try to do it, but I can't imagine sitting there all day - one break!
I did it once before and I never spent a whole day I don't think- but I did serve on an alt jury- just listening to the jusry get questioned. No potty breaks!
He said they will probably send me home anyhow- I think they should- I am in no way to think logically!

we CDd my daughter for awhile and will definitely CD baby girl, at least until she's done breastfeeding. it's just too easy to NOT do it, kwim? let me know if you have questions!

We'll be using disposable diapers. I have a hate-hate relationship with my washing machine and the basement in which the washing machine lives. There is nothing that would make me go down there and try to force the temperamental beast to work more often than absolutely necessary.
Not a whole lot going on for us lately. The baby is moving around a lot more and giving some more good kicks so that's reassuring. Unfortunately I'm already getting big enough that sleeping on my stomach (preferred way) is almost impossible, even at an angle so it's more my side than my tummy. That makes it harder for me to sleep at night because I keep rolling over and running into my big belly.
We might agree on a name. Zachary is in my top 2-3 name choices and DH so far has said "maybe I could do Zachary" - which is the best response I've gotten out of him regarding a name. I'd just like him to participate a little more in the process so we can nail SOMETHING down...

QOTD We will be doing disposables.
Classes We finally registered for our classes. We will be taking Lamaze I think at the end of June and then we will be taking a breastfeeding class at the begining of August and a baby wellness class in July.
Have a nice and safe weekend ladies :)

Belly button Still an innie... for now.
Diapers Disposables. Daycares tend not to do cloth diapering.
Classes We start the Bradley classes on June 18th. I am really looking forward to them to learn all about the birth process, techniques for dealing with labor, and after-care including some bits about breast feeding. There are already two other couples signed up so hopefully they will be cool and we can have an instant play group.
MSH Thanks for the kind words. I am hoping that DH's job goes well and that he is insanely happy there. That would make me happy!
Memorial Day Plans Not much on the agenda for me. We are emptying the POD at the new house and doing some general cleaning. On Sunday, we are having MIL and SIL out to see the new house and take them out to lunch. I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing long weekend.

Well it has been quite the week for me. DH and I both came down with bad colds on tuesday and the only things i'm allowed to take don't help at all. So we both stayed home on wednesday to relax. then on thursday Keith went to leave for work and his truck wouldn't start so I had to catch a ride to work because he needed my van. So I spent today running K to work and bringing parts to the auto shop so that they could get the truck fixed today. And if all that isn't bad enough it is really hot here today and my A/C in my van just quit. I don't know why the world can't give me a break.
On the bright side Baby Zachary is moving more and now I can see movement from the outside and K can feel him kick:D
QOTD - we will be using DD. I would like to CD but the services around here are too expensive and we live in a condo and have to pay to do our laundry.
Classes - we have been signed up for our classes since march. My OB warned us that they fill up fast and advised us to sign up early. the classes start in july.
Belly Button - Mine was really deep before so it seems to just be getting more shallow but of course there is still lots of time left for it to pop out. But for now i'm still wearing my belly ring.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Re: Bellybuttons - On another message board, just today, people were talking about this! After I posted my questions here. Anyway - there's good news! A lot of the women who responded there said that their bellybuttons never popped out - some have 3-4 kids, too. So, it is possible it may just stay in!
Like Brenda's DH, mine is vehemently against cloth diapers. Not only the poo/pee stuff, but the idea that the dipes are in the same washer as his clothes really freaks him out. Plus, baby will go to MIL's twice a week, and it's really just one more fight I don't want to have to have. I can already hear the comments I'm going to get from her about BFing being "icky" [rolleyes].

bellybutton Mine never popped last time, and I don't think it will this time either. It's flat and stretched, and seems to 'threaten' to pop, but it just does not!
diapers ~ disposables.
classes ~ not planning on taking any. I remember the breathing techniques that got me through labour (unmedicated) last time, and intend on using them again.
Our long weekend was last weekend - Vistoria Day (Canada). This weekend will suck big time. DH is gone to a training course all day today for Search and Rescue. I'm not very happy about it, since the course is on 'steep angle' rescue - yup - repelling down the side of a mountain. I haven't spoken to him since yesterday. I'm furious. He has a wife and young family, his feet should be on the ground, not hanging off the side of a mountain. So, since it's raining, and I'm in such a foul mood, I guess Claire and I will be hanging out in the family room with her Strawberry Shortcake movies today!
Hope you all enjoy your long weekend!

classes thanks for reminding me- I really want to take a bf class this time. I read a ton before, but all in all felt like when I needed the info, I got it too late from the LC.
I went to my best friend's daughter's 4th b-day today.
I left there in tears since she is moving to AZ in a month. It totally hit me just now, even though her Dh has already been there 2 months. My DH tells me that they will be back, but I am not so sure.
DS was a dream though. I had him out all day. We went for coffee and muffins and then to visit DH at work , and then he fell asleep in the car, so I cleaned it out while he slept- treated him to a happy meal- off to the party where he only ate pickles, olives, cake and a sucker. He was a happy boy not complaints and when we got home I dumped his sticky self in the tub and while I was cleaning the sink he pooped in the tub! That was the first time that happened. I knew it was a matter of time- but yuck! So now that the bath toys are soaking in bleach, he is finally asleep and I ate my ice cream I am ready to relax!
anyone else getting uncomfy in bed? ok- the boppy snuggle pillow isn't cutting it. It is hot and my back, hips and neck are hurting. I was up at 5 am because I wa better sitting in the chair. Also my tail bone is super tender. I don't think I can go 2 weeks away from the Chiro. I think I may stick to weekly.
random question anyone ever taken a t-shirt and cut it up the side, then tied it? I want to do this with a band t from DH's band and hopefully make it fit preggo belly better than a dumpy t , but I am not exactly sure how I will do it. I have seen girls wearing them that way and it really fems up a reg boxy t.

Not so much uncomfy in bed but not able to sleep. This morning I finally fell asleep at 300 and I had to be up for work at 500. Similiar things happened every day this week but Thursday. If I had CD'd with DD then I would with this one to but I guess since I didn't I can't. We lived with the Il's and they wouldn't let us use there washing machine for them plus I am terrible at laundry so DD it will be.

uncomfy in bed ~ yup, this is me. I keep ending up on my back and waking up not being able to breathe/ in pain. I cannot get really comfy. I think I need more pillows.
Random questions:
shaving ~ specifically, the nether regions :o . Seriously, I cannot see what I'm doing, and am just going by feel at this point. It's horrible. Any suggestions?
hair dying ~ i've continued to dye my hair (about once every 2 months). Is anyone else dying theirs?
I feel huge. I feel like I can't move or breathe or eat or sleep. Three more months...three more months....I can do it!

Yup, I am starting to get uncomfy in bed. Turning over in bed is a full hour event these days, so I normally just resolve to having DH give me a push :)
Shaving not a problem yet, however I forsee it will be in the near future
________________
Today is terribly hot around here. It is around 90 F and just hitting 60% humidity. We don't have a/c but I will beg DH to get it soon. I don't see how I will make it through the summer without it. Right now all the windows in the house are open and I have two desk fans going. Both are aimed at the cat because I don't want him to overheat. Tonight we will be going to get some blackout blinds, I hope that will help keep the livingroom somewhat cool tomorrow. I get so nervous for the kitty. Thankfully the nursery is on the other side of the house, which only gets the sun in the early morning before it gets too hot.
I am starting to get things ready for the new thread. Please post any stats you need updated or appts to add. Also I would welcome belly shots and u/s pictures for anyone who would like to share.

Dawny Cute belly!
Uncomfy in Bed Yep - count me in. I haven't been sleeping well because of all the tossing and turning. I am considering a body pillow, but haven't bought one yet.
Shaving Definitely becoming more difficult. I expect that I will have to use a mirror soon.

Morning ladies. Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend.
Boy, I'm quite behind, so I'll do my best with all the so's!
cloth diapering we are seriously considering it. They have a great CD service in our area that comes and gets the yucky ones and gives clean ones. We are trying to determine which is the most environmentally sound, but with all the chemicals they use to clean the cloth ones, they aren't that much better (environmentally speaking) than disposables. So we are still debating...
2Jacks sorry your friend is moving away. It is hard in the beginning, but you do get used to it. When I moved from Michigan to Washington state I spoke on the phone more often with my BF than when we lived in the same state. Plus we planned on seeing each other once per year. I know it's not perfect, but it gives you a cool place to visit! Oh, and good luck at the doctor's appt. this week!
octoberkate boy, I'm with you on the name frustration in regards to our husbands! Dh wanted a girl and only likes girl names. Its like pulling teeth to get any comment out of him regarding a boy name! Love Zachary, btw!
spencersgirl sorry to hear about your colds and crummy week last week. And boy, the Midwest sure was hot! Hope your feeling better and this week has less unexpected adventures.
{b} So funny that your basing your decision about diapering party because of your MIL! We are doing the same thing. Man, people are so opinionated when it comes to other people's babies! We'll be getting the "bfing is icky" and the "your baby is going to hell if you don't baptize them" from my mom, oh and we're getting the "your thinking about NOT circumsizing??? that's silly" from her, too. We are getting everything else from MIL... can't win. But I am thinking about which battles just aren't that important to me... ugh.
dawny Yup! Having the same issues of shaving. Plus, its getting harder and harder to clip my toenails! Jeez, and we still have not quite gotten to the 3rd trimester! (Your belly is so cute!)
sleeping so far so good. I have been using an extra pillow between my knees and its helping so far.
QOTD sorry in advance to you pink team ladies since this doesn't really apply to you. But please, if you have comments, share them!
My post got me to thinking... is anyone here considering NOT circumsizing their son? DH and I keep going back and forth, back and forth... I feel silly to say this, but since I've never seen a non-circumsized one, it kinda freaks me out! But at the same time, so many medical associations have spoken out against the practice... like I said, back and forth...
Have a great day!

I'm here, reading along and trying not to itch my skin raw. I am really beginning to think this is not an allergic reaction anymore since I haven't taken the medicine since Thursday morning and the rash is continuing to spread even today. We have been in the 90's all weekend so we finally turned on the A/C yesterday because I was just miserable. It most definitely will be a long summer if this keeps up! LOL The new blood pressure medication is working well to keep my blood pressure down, so that is going well.
As for the QOTD's:
Diapers: Disposable, all the way. With 3 little ones, I will already have MORE than enough laundry to handle, I really don't need to add to it.
Classes: None this time.
Sleeping: Ugghh, right now, I'm content if I can get 2 blocks of 3 hours of sleep. Must figure out how to get comfortable. I already have pillows, pillows and more pillows, but since I'm a tosser/turner and the belly is in the way, it's very much an ordeal.
Shaving: Already difficult to do. I'm seriously contemplating having a friend come over and wax my legs to make it easier.
Circumcision: I left that decision entirely up to my DH. I figured I don't have a penis, so it didn't really matter much to me either way. DH decided to circ' since he was circ'ed.
Names: Still haven't narrowed a name down. I swear, this baby is going to be nameless. DH doesn't even really want to talk about it. I really want to just have a few names ready so that when he is born we can figure out which names fits him. Although, my daughter is telling everyone his name is "Wee Willy Winky."

LMC Thank goodness for A/C! Hope your rash improves!!
Circumcision Like LMC, I left it up to DH and he wants the little one to be just like him, so snip snip. He didn't do any research on it, but I guess that's the difference between a decision that I make and one that he makes.
Anyone else feel like DH cannot do anything right these days? I feel like every time DH says anything to me, I get grouchy with him. He can just look at me the wrong way and it irks me. I'm really hoping this is a phase because I don't like feeling pissy all the time. I actually considered leaving the house this weekend to go to a movie alone just because I needed space. It's quite depressing. :(
Dotsie
05-30-2006, 07:18 AM
Twink ~ Nope it's not you. Right now I don't want to be anywhere near DH. No matter what he says or does he just irks me. I get irritated if he walks into the same room as me. I feel so bad but I can't help it.
DH starts his vacation on June 10th. I told him that he and our DS need to go to his parents for 2 days and just let me be. We're not going anywhere this year because a. no money and b. no money. We're trying to budget for the changes that are going to happent to our family so we opted for no vacay. He's not happy about it but that's what happens when you're not a Hilton. I told him I need 2 days without anyone bothering me. I will just sit in my house or go where I want to without anyone near me. It will be pure bliss!!!
LMC ~ That's great the new medication is working. Oh and isn't AC the best?!?
Shaving ~ I'm still able to go at it for now. I see a problem in the next couple of weeks though.
Sleeping ~ I sleep on average 5-6 hours a night. And that's with me waking up every hour to pee or try to roll over.
Diapers ~ Disposable all the way. It's easier and (please don't flame me) I couldn't care less about the environmental concerns.
Circumcision ~ DH chose that all of our sons will be cut. Aidan was and so will Conor.

sleeping i don't know why, but i'm just not loving my snoogle the way i did last time. it's on the floor next to my bed, maybe i'll use it later. turning over is always hard, i usually just grab dh and pull myself over.
shaving i can still manage it. my hair grows so much slower when pg, so i rarely shave. i'll have dh help towards the end so i don't go into labor hairy
hair dying yep, i still do mine about every 6 weeks. i can't say i'm completely comfortable doing it though. my hair guy just says he won't do it during the first trimester and he doesn't like doing red b/c something in it passes through
cd'ing we also have a great service nearby, it's a shame i don't use it. if you're leaning towards cd, you should go buy a dd and feel all the junk they have in them now. i don't know what they put in them for absorption, but if you bite down on the diaper, you can feel crunchy stuff in there, like silica. don't ask why i was biting my daughter's diapers, i must have been bored :p
circ'ing ugh, i've been putting this off. i'm pretty much against it, dh is very much for it. i've been meaning to get some stuff together for him to read. our ped is one of the biggest circ opponents out there and i may force dh to come to his office and talk to him. he wrote this book...
http://www.twbookmark.com//images/11/76835.jpg
and this article for mothering mag
http://www.mothersagainstcirc.org/fleiss.html
twink oh yeah, i could pretty much kill dh most of the time. i remember this from last time, too. i'm so antsy to get things done around the house and start getting things ready for the baby and he just thinks we have so much time.
names i've decided that i just hate boy names, we have a list going, but i don't *love* anything. our list so far: oliver, harrison, leonardo "leo", jack, miles, liam, sam, owen.

Circumcision: I left that decision entirely up to my DH. I figured I don't have a penis, so it didn't really matter much to me either way.
LMC you crack me up! I feel the same way... don't have one, don't want one! But unfortunately DH is a major flip flopper on this issue... I wish he felt strongly one way or the other... but alas, no, which is why I posted.
So glad the new meds are working! Has the doc given you something for the rash? I'm sure the A/C will help, too.
Dotsie I doubt you'll be flamed in this thread... (you certainly would be in chat or politics). But your comment was a big eye opener and made me feel pretty sad...
ETA: thanks for the book recommendation and link dana b. I just feel like this is my first parental decision, and I don't want to screw it up!

Hello ladies, I hope everyone had a nice long weekend! My mom came to visit and help me make my yard beautiful again, we spent all day saturday and sunday working our patooties off but is all done now! WHEW and last night we enjoyed the fruits of our labors with a bbq and friends.
now to put my 2 cents in on the topics of late;
Diapers, I am hoping my mom gets us Diaper service for a year I think clothe is great as long as you dont have to do the cleaning!! Otherwise forget it!
Sleeping, I have a difficult time because my arms and legs ache alot. I dont remember it being like this with the other boys, but man my joints of my arms shoulders and legs just ache and wake me up so I end up being pretty restless.
Shaving, I was just talking to DH about this last night, I am still ok with the legs, im rather tall and lanky so I think I will do okay with this, i didnt have a problem with the first two. BUT when it comes to the nether regions, I really want to get waxed, but Im embarrassed! I am SOOOO hairy down there now, its gross! And I have a really dark line of hair forming on my belly to my belly button, DH said something about it. (YIKES!)
Circ I really have no idea what we will do. There are definate pros and cons with both. DH also doesn't feel strongly either way. This will probably be one of those things we will decide on in the hospital once the Fatzy arrives.
hair dying I've done it once. Now I don't usually dye my hair often. Usually just once or twice to lighten it up for summer. I get very natural blond highlights, which the dye doesn't touch the scalp and should be safe for PGcy. My OB gave me a number I could call to check the chemicals before going ahead with the colour. I would have used this if I were doing a full dye.
sleeping it is getting worse and worse. However, it is mostly because it is now insanely hot. It is only in the 90's but with the humidity it is more than I can take.
Dotsie no flaming necessary. Honestly, I don't really care about the environment either ... but my city does and don't give me much choice.
twink you are not alone. DH has been telling me I have been testy lately. Which is very true and I wish I could be 'normal' again but with these hormones that just isn't going to happen. So just get me my ice cream and I won't hurt you :)
batgirl what exactly makes people think we want to hear all their opinions. Seriously I want to slap MIL sometimes. Everytime we see her she asks about the babys name. Lady we are not finding out the gender and have said many times we are keeping the name a secret ... that includes you. She also keeps telling us how we shouldn't invest in a pricy crib because her kids destroyed theirs ... well I am sorry lady. I am vain and I will get the pretty, yet expensive crib if I want to. First time mom here, let me do this my way please :) *sorry for the vent*

I am so so happy to be at work today. I feel crazy for saying it but until we get AC I really don't want to spend much time in the house.
I've got my OB appt this afternoon. I hope to get my GTT booked and also find out when I start biweekly appts.

Classes: we are signed up for a childbirth class at our hospital in July. I haven't gotten the paperwork yet or sent a check, so I need to call the hospital to verify that we're registered and will get the documents soon.
Circ'ing: we will have DS circumsized.
A quote from the "your baby this week" on Fertility Friend:
With modern medical technology, your baby would have a chance to survive if it were born now.
That totally blows me away.
Fasolaki is definitely wiggly these days. And going through a growth spurt I think. I am hungry a lot more often lately. I feel like I ate constantly on Sunday and most of yesterday. Today for breakfast I had 2 bowls of Cheerios and was still reaching for my crackers at 10:30 am.
He's being cranky about letting me sleep on my left side. I think he likes to settle there for the night, so it's uncomfortable most of the time for me. I often wake up on my back, which is not great for my own internal organs.

We use cloth diapers and I wash them with baking soda and vinegar. Most diaper services just use a detergent that is free and clear.
I'm not trying to be pushy. He ll, we don't even use cloth all the time anymore. Toddler poop is gross and I dont want to deal with it. But we did use cloth until she turned 1 and it was great.

Hello ladies! Wow the thread is been busy while I was out, I headed to Connecticut last week with work… let me tell you that was NOT fun, but I am just glad that is over, I just felt uncomfortable and tired the whole trip and just wanted to get back home.
Update on me- I have definitely felt a change on baby's movement in the last week or so, he is much more constant and seems like if he is getting into a schedule (he likes to kick at night when I am about to go to sleep). His kicks have also been much stronger than they use to, DH loves feeling him kick and makes things so much real.
Am I the only one worrying about what 'could' happen? I was in Starbucks yesterday and this lady had a baby with her, I asked her how old was she and to my surprise she was 7 months old, she looked like if she was just borne! The lady told me how she was 'special needs' physically and mentally but how they are doing much better than when they first found… they didn't know anything while she was in her, they found out after labor, this is the second person I meet in the last two months with the same predicament (the first one had Dawn Syndrome and they didn't know until she was borne either). I am really freaking out, I try not to think about it, but it really worries me.
The weekend- We didn't do much this weekend, just relax and take the puppy to the lake (poor thing is so hot that unless is in the water we can't take him out). Yesterday we went for the first time to the pool which brings me to the next question:
QOTD- Someone told me that being pregnant you are not supposed to get sun on your tummy… is this true? Has anyone heard anything like that before? I know that when you are pregnant your melamine levels are off and they tell you to be careful because you tend to get sun spots, but other than that, have you guys heard anything about not getting sun on your tummy???
Diapering- we will be using disposables.
Circumcision- left it to DH as well.
Shaving- so far so good.
hair dying- I don’t do it very often ( mine is curly) but still do it from time to time.
Sleeping- for now I am still ok
Names- We are still stucked between Marc and Sami, we are pretty sure is going to be Marc but we are not going to make a decision until he is borne.
I am at work which means I can't catch up with everybody, but I will go back and read to make sure I am 'update it'. Hope everyone has a great Monday!
btw here is my latest belly shot from Saturday at 25w5d (the last one on both)… is definitely getting bigger!

Dotsie LOL - I was seriously wishing that I went away by myself this weekend. I am going to plan a trip alone once school is over just to regain composure and hopefully come back as my loving self instead of the raging maniac that I am now.
dana DH thinks we have a lot of time, too. He thinks it's too early to interview daycares so I might have to go by myself and do it.
MSH Ice cream does cure most evils, doesn't it! ;)
babywish I think the sun is fine on your tummy but it will make the line more noticeable and you may get some sun spots. I would use the same precaution as when you are normally in the sun, using sunscreen and making sure you don't get overheated or dehydrated.

hairdying every 12 weeks I get highlights..
circ well this one is a girl- so no decision there- but we did not circ DS. DH's family boys are not. Honestly- even though I had seen DH's- I didn't know it. His full grown version looks much like a circ'd one does. I sort of freaked when the topic came up while dating and I was so surprised he wasn't. But I am glad we didn't- my god son ( 7 mos older) had much up keep to his circ'd peeny- DS has none really. just plain water in the bath.
Plus- this is TMI - I had my nip pierced once ( I know) and that was the worst pain EVER! I couldn't do it to another.
shaving Oh yeah- had this conversation with Dh recently- I asked for help. I can get to the thigh region, but past that I can't see and it is a mess. I hate that. last pg I made him wax me. His technique needed work, but I didn't care. I am Italian- need I say more?
DS is napping- he is getting some sort of sickness- nodes ae swollen and sneezy- so I dosed him with benedryl at lunch.
We got his room together yesterday and he slept 3 hours in his "toddler" bed ( crib mattress on floor with rail) he is napping there now. I will keep working on it since I can't do much more of him on me in our bed.

twink - You are not alone! I have been so snappy at DH and my step son lately!!! My DH understands what is going on, but my stepson must think I am the B*%#@ from Hell!!!!
Babywish - You are so tiny!!!! I have been thinking a lot about what can go wrong too! Everytime I see something on TV about a sick child or a child born with physical/mental problems, I almost can't watch it.
Shaving - It is beginning to get harder for me also. So is clipping my toenails.
Hair dying - I've had my hair dyed once since I've been pregnant. And I will be going back in a few weeks for a touch up.

Well, I just got back from the doc, and I tell ya, I am so glad we have decided that we are not having any more babies because I so don't want to be pregnant ever again! LOL The rash is not an allergic reaction...it is PUPPS!! The only cure for it is to deliver the baby. I have an appointment tomorrow with the dermatologist to see about getting a steroid to relieve the symptoms. I'm telling ya, this kid is really PUSHING for an early delivery! LOL

LMC - PUPPS - that stinks! When you mentioned the rash that was something that ran through my head but, for your sake, I was really hoping not. I hope you can get a cream to relieve the itching!
QOTD - Shaving - tried to shave the hoochie area this weekend. It wasn't pretty. I did an awful job since I can't see and I'm convinced that I'll end up with ingrowns... lovely. I think I'll make DH do it next time. As to the legs, I'm alright now but I forsee a time when I'll need help.
QOTD - Uncomfy in Bed - add me to the group. I bought a snoogle pillow this time because I'd heard such raves about them and I was so uncomfortable last time. So far? Not quite the bomb like I was hoping. I do use it when I fall asleep, but when I wake up around 2:30-3:00 to pee I'm usually sweating like a maniac because it's trapped so much heat so I toss it on the floor. Of course, at that point I'm so tired that I could fall asleep regardless of how uncomfortable it is. But maybe it is making the falling asleep better....
Circumcising - we did last time and we will this time. Like a few other people said, this was a decision I left up to my husband. He's not really into research, so I forwarded some articles to him that discussed how Americans are circ'ing less and less these days and some discussions that I'd seen from the medical community. Based on that and his personal reasons he decided that he wanted Alex circ'd. We have had no worries - it healed very well and quickly and there have been no ill effects or difficulties with its care.
Names - DH still refuses to have a serious discussion with me... which is pissing me off more and more. My two year old, however, has changed his name preference. Whereas last week he wanted the new baby to be named "Let's Go Mets" this week he thinks we should name the new baby "Grandma". I don't think either one is a keeper.
New with me? Not a whole lot new with me. The little dude is kicking a good bit lately, I'm already getting pissy and cranky in the heat and it's not even june, and I'm so dreading August and the heat and humidity that I don't know what to do. Otherwise, nothing to report.

LMC: What is PUPPS?
Shaving: Ugh. Shaving is a thing of the past. I remember how miserable I was having to shave every week before my OB appointments towards the end of my last pregnancy. That was the worst part about having the cervical checks - having to shave!
Uncomfy in Bed: ME TOO. So uncomfortable.
Circumcising: We're having another girl so it's a moot point, but we would likely NOT circ if we have a boy next time.
Names: We're both really loving Lucy these days. Also, Audrey.
Is anyone else burning up these days? I am so freaking overheated all the time. I have our A/C cranked and turned down to 68. I can't sleep at night, despite the AC, fan and no covers. Boo!

Here is what I have found about PUPPS:
From All Things Pregnant (http://www.allthingspregnant.com/articlesR.html):
A common rash during pregnancy is Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy. This is a most unpleasant rash with an incredible itch that's only cure is delivery of the placenta. Although this is most common in first pregnancies, it has been known to occur in subsequent pregnancies. This problem affects one in about 160 to 200 pregnancies.
The onset of this rash is usually the third trimester but it has been known to appear in the early post partum period. The rash starts on the abdomen and then spreads to the extremities. It is an unbearably itchy rash. Happily the rash doesn't normally spread to the face. After delivery of the baby, the rash and the itch rapidly disappear
Treatment of the rash is at best a mask. Benadryl is a safe and semi effective way of controlling the itch as well as a few prescribed topical ointments. As well, cold compresses, oatmeal baths help. Prednisone is not always prescribed unless the itching is unbearable.
This is not a pleasant situation to have to face during pregnancy, but there are no known ill effects on the baby. Some doctors believe this to be an allergic reaction to the placenta but they also have noted a relationship to maternal weight gain, newborn birth weight and the incidence of twins.

Uncomfortable in BedUgh! yes count me in as one that can't seem to get comfy. I crank on our fan and A/C all night just to get it cold enough for me. And I have a snoogle and HATE it! It just makes me so damn hot and I just can't get comfy w/ it. I swear I am the only one that hates the snoogle
Circumcising We will be circumsizing our little guy.
Hair DyeI have not dyed my hair since I found out I was pregnant BUT I am dying to get it colored so maybe I will in the next couple of weeks here. Definately before our shower, my hair needs it! I do worry though since I do all over color but hopefully its ok.
Hope everyone is feeling good. I have also been moody and emotional I feel like such a wreck at times! I also feel so super HUGE! Gosh, I wish I was as small and looked as good as babywish :o

Hair Dye I found this in an article on Pregnancy myths on WebMD: Hair dye and perms
There are no data supporting harmful effects of hair dye, either, according to Dolan. "Very little dye reaches your scalp, anyway." The smells, however, can gross out a pregnant woman's overly sensitive sniffer.
I really like what they said about caffeine - I might send it to my mom who has become an "old wife" ever since we told her I was pg.
Full article link is here: http://www.webmd.com/content/article/49/39932.htm
I need to get my highlights done - I've been holding off, but damn, it's time. My doc said highlights were OK, since they use foil and the dye doesn't really touch your scalp. She also suggesting getting the first appointment of the day, so there are as few fumes as possible, and to find a salon that does not do acrylic nails, since that stuff really lingers in the air.
Hair dyes, especially home types, used to be a problem because of formaldehyde and ammonia, but those chemicals are not used anymore, I guess.
We're all moved into our first home! Ok, we have no furniture and we're in a million boxes still, but we slept there last night and are officially out of the apartment! The cats are doing very well, the improvements are coming along swimmingly, and I can even say moving went smoothly. DH, his brother and BIL wouldn't let me lift a finger, so I was directing traffic and getting cool drinks and ordering htem to take breaks. It didn't take long, but it was beastly hot Monday.
Baby is doing well. Nickname is now "Squirmy" - lots of kicks and rolling around.
Anyone else have a lopsided belly? My right side, near my bellybutton, si more pronounced than the left. Wierd
LMC - sorry to hear it's PUPPS - I thought that was it when you mentioned a rash, but was hoping for your sake it wasn't!

He's being cranky about letting me sleep on my left side. I think he likes to settle there for the night, so it's uncomfortable most of the time for me. I often wake up on my back, which is not great for my own internal organs.
I was like this with DD; I could only comfortably sleep on my right side or my back (my preferred way.) One Dr. was kinda adamant about not sleeping on my back, the other was kinda like, "you'll know if you can't sleep on your back." She said to watch for lightheadedness, etc. What is funny is that when I was in labor, if I layed on my left side, DD's heartrate went down. So I guess she didn't want me on my left side either. :)
I am vain and I will get the pretty, yet expensive crib if I want to.
Get what YOU want! I got a "reasonably" priced crib for #1...and I went and got a nicer one for #2 (but this time, got the 4 in 1 type, after spending a ton to get a twin bed to match DD's furniture.) I am not even getting the bedding ahead of time, since I don't know the gender. But I want to go all out on the bedding (well, within reason!) But I definitely want either boy or girl bedding...nothing "gender neutral!" :)

Sorry I have been MIA so much lately. I missed pages and pages and pages so I am going to try to answer all the QOTDs I have missed.
Uncomfortable in bed - The action of rolling over is hard because of my sciatic pain. Once I get rolled over, I am fine, it is just the actual rolling over that hurts.
Hair dying - Yep. In fact, I go next week. My random gray hairs are starting to poke through again. My doc said not in the 1st trimester only.
Shaving - Getting harder, but I am still able to.
Circumcising - Yes, we will.
Names - We have 3 names and can't decide on just one. However, they are all family names so I am cool with any of the three.
Feeling hot - All the freakin' time!! I used to be so cold natured, but not anymore!
Classes - We are signed up for breastfeeding class on July 6th and the weekend childbirth classes on July 8th and 9th.
I am officially in the 3rd trimester and can't believe it! I went to the dr. today and they were super busy and didn't have a room available for me. So they put me in the u/s room and when Dr. G came in he said why not take a look at the little guy since we were in there. So I got to take a peek at my little boy! He is looking good and measuring in the 55th percentile and the u/s showed an EDD of only a few days earlier than we had previously been told. My next appt is in two weeks on June 12th.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I promise to be better at keeping up!

I take my Glucose test tomorrow. So I am trying not to eat any carbs or sweet foods/drinks today and it is KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just 9:40 and I'm already having carb withdrawals!!!!!!!!!! I can go all day without eating sweets...no problem...but having no carbs is TORTURE! This morning I ate two eggs and now I'm STARVING! I'm about to snack on some cucumbers! But what I really want to eat is some peanut butter crackers or a granola bar!!!

Jenzen - I know what you mean....somebody mentioned wanting ice cream a few weeks back and that sent me into an ice cream craze!! Up until yesterday, I have had ice cream EVERY DAY since! During my break at work, I've been walking across the street to this store and buying either a Klondike bar, a Twix ice cream bar, or a Snicker ice cream bar!!! I WANT ON RIGHT NOW! This weekend DH made some homemade ice cream that was YUMMY!! I think I'm going to get him to make some more next week and this time maybe add some pecans or some strawberries. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!
OK...for lunch I just ate a big salad with cheese and ham. So my stomach is pretty satisfied. Now I'm nibbling on some tuna (with no bread or crackers of course). If I keep snacking on this tuna, I think I'll be able to make it the rest of the day without cheating.

Cravings - Speaking of food....what have you ladies been craving...if anything? I don't know if I'm having actual cravings, but everytime I think about a certain food I like, I have to eat it and I become fixated on it. At the very beginning of my pregnancy I kept wanting frito pies. Like I mentioned above, lately it's been ice cream. My husband has been eating things out of the ordinary for him lately. He suddenly decided a couple of weeks ago that he wanted pickles and he has been buying pickles every since!!! This is definitely weird for him! He has also been craving fruits and veggies...in particular grapes, plums and cucumbers. I wish I was craving healthy food like that!
I don't know what it is with me today but I cannot stop eating. Nothing fills me up. I won't even list everything I've ate because it would take too long but gosh, what is going on!!
Yesterday was 24 weeks. I had my OB appt in the afternoon, which went great. Just the regular ... pee in a cup, weight (up 4lb I think), BP (fine), HB (good, didn't ask what the rate actually was) and then as the new thing for the day we measured fundal (sp?) lenght/height. I am measuring right on. I asked the OB about who is allowed in the delivery room. He said S and one other person if I wanted. Also I would be checked into L&D and moved to either a private or semi-private room once the baby is there. I told S I would want to be in a room by myself if possible. I have one more monthly appt. at 28 weeks on June 27th. I will do my 1hr GTT that day as well. Then we move to biweekly appt. Around that time I will start considering what to do with my vacation time. I am still thinking I will use the remaining days to work half days Thurs and Fri for the last few weeks before mat leave. I will probably have to work full days during the last week though as I would be training my temp.

Hello ladies. I hope that all is well with everyone.
Craftgenius: Don't be too hard on yourself about restricting carbs. Carbs are a very important nutrient. The food guide pyramid recommends that more than half of our daily calories come from carbs. In pregnancy our body goes through so many changes that at times things go out of whack. The GTT is just a screening to make sure that your cells are absorbing glucose the way that it should. If there is a problem you would want to know so that it can be monitored. Advice from an RO is dont try to cheat the test it is just a precaution, especially if you plan on going back to your normal intake of carbs after the test. Good luck tomorrow.
B: Lopsided belly momma over here. Not only is the right-side of my belly lopsided but only half of my belly button is poked out and my linea nigra is crooked....how freakish is that?

Just a small update on me.
I have my Glucose/ultrasound/OB appt on Monday. They'll check to see if my placenta has moved and we're still debating the 3D/4D since we've had it the past 2 times, I don't think it'll be the same without it. We've got a couple of days to decide, though.
The crib finally came. We're waiting on the combo chest, still. We put it together last night and got the drawer on the bottom today. I've not got a crib sheet yet (it'll more than likely be green) and the skirt will be a straight skirt with pink and green accents on the bottom. This one is temporary.

Camdynlyn: The nursery is shaping up beautifully. I love the shade of pink on the walls. Cant wait to see the finished product.
Vent:I got a scare today that I wanted to share with you all. I picked up DS from daycare today and one of the workers informed me that two of the kids at the center had been diagnosed with Fifth's Disease aka Parvovirus. I didnt know anything about the disease so since she seemed a little frantic I raced home to find out all that I could about it. I found out that it is contagious and once a child displays symptoms they probably are at a point when they are no longer contagious. It is not a serious threat to adults and children BUT it could be harmful to the fetus in pregnant women. I am trying not to freak out since I have a OB/Gyn appt. tomorrow morning. I was planning to take DS out of daycare for the summer so that we can spend more quality time together before the baby comes but I think today was his last day:(

Most people are immune without knowing it & your doc might have tested you at your origional blood draw. I hope it goes well. Not that I think taking DS out of daycare so you can hang out is a bad idea...sounds wonderful:)
Hi to the rest of you. I have been reading along but finding it difficult to find time to post. My two are keeping me busy, busy, busy.

I had my followup ultrasound/ob visit/GTT this morning. If you recall, at my last ultrasound 4 weeks ago, the doctor thought she saw something possibly wrong with one of the baby's kidneys. But thank the Lord, today she said that everything looked great and the baby's kidneys are FINE!!!!!!!! You guys, I am SO RELIEVED!!!!!!!! I was so scared these past 4 weeks...worrying about my baby and her kidneys! When she gave us the news all I could do was give DH a big hug! It was a great day all together...my BP was good, the baby is measuring at 1 pound 13 ounces...she's in the 50 percentile), heartbeat was 157...she is doing great! And I was a little worried about the GTT. I was dreading drinking that sweet drink because I had heard so many horror stories. But it wasn't bad AT ALL! I had a choice between fruit punch flavor and orange flavor...I chose the fruit punch and it tasted almost identical to Hawaiian Punch!! It wasn't overly sweet to me at all!! In fact it was refreshing since I was so freaking HUNGRY when I went in the office!

Mommy2AlliWill: I did a search on the boards and saw your old posts. Its good that since your son actually had the virus that everything turned out ok for you. Did your tests show that you were immune or were you just lucky enough to not have caught it?
Craft: Glad to hear that your baby girl is fine.
I had my visit with the OB today and he gave me the paperwork to get the blood work done for the parvovirus. I guess its just a waiting game for now. Otherwise at the appt., baby Maya's heartbeat sounded beautiful and I had to get a pelvic exam which I was not expecting or happy to hear about.
I also got the instructions for my GTT. There are two options for my test. I can either consume all of the following foods within a 15m time period:
1c OJ; 1c whole milk; 1c cornflakes or oatmeal; 1T sugar; 1T jelly(not diet);
2 slices of toast.
or drink 33oz of Coca-cola. (no substitute for either option)
Then my blood should be drawn 2hr later.
My poor baby will be doing flips for days with all of that caffeine because I am doing the coke:D .

For those of you that haven't taken it, I drank the orange drink and it was not as bad as I had thought it would be. It was basically just a sweeter version of the Sunkist soda drink.

GTT I haven't done mine yet. I was given the drink (the orange) and told to get it done between now and my next appt. Apparently, I just drink it and call the blood people to tell them I'm coming. I should probably just get it over with. Very happy that the drink isn't as bad as it looks!
