sleepy baby doesn't want to nap.

for the past week or so, rachel (6 months old) has been fighting sleep at bedtimes and at her naptime. she's so obviously tired and she's ready for sleep, but she cries or talks or babbles until we go get her. then she's fussy and yawning. she just doesn't want to go to sleep. when she DOES fall asleep, she sleeps great. 12 hours at night, 2-3 hours at naps.

is this common? she was such a great sleeper for so long. we never had to CIO because she put herself to sleep so easily. we've already taken the mobile and toys out of her crib and we put up room darkening shades. what else can we do?

Edward cries for about 2 minutes (max 5 minutes) before falling asleep. He has for about 4 or 5 months. Then he just passes out. Don't know if it's normal, but it is here. Hope that helps.

So far, if DD is really tired / fussy, I'll try leaving her there for say 10 minutes. Most times she cries & fusses a bit, but falls asleep.
