Well, I'm currently living in Oklahoma - but I'll always be an Alabama girl. I was born in B'ham and all of my fam lives in Huntsville. Someday I'm heading home - just have to convince my native OK hubby!

I grew up in the Birmingham (all my family is still there) so I consider myself an Alabama girl. You can take the girl out of Alabama....

I'm a Bama girl!!! I'm from Camden, but I'm in law school in Nashville for the next two years. I have the good fortune to be spending this summer in Birmingham, working. If anybody in town wants to have a CC GTG, drop me an e-mail (melody_marie@yahoo.com)! I'll be here until mid-August!

My body has been relocated to Little Rock... but my heart always stays true to Birmingham! I have a sister/nieces in Huntsville, my FIL was born/raised in Mobile!

I graduated from the University of Montevallo, and I got my beloved *social* education in Tuscaloosa, mainly with my sorority sisters in ADPi!

I have to admit, the highlight of my weekend was when Alabama beat Southern Mississippi... that is my FIL's alma mater!

Somebody in Birmingham needs to let me know if most of my favorite restaurants are still in business! I haven't been back in 4 years, but I keep meaning to bring DH to B'ham, and show him where I grew up!

I adore Southside... I lived there for a couple of years after college.... I miss the local pubs, crawfish boils and shi-shi restaurants we used to go to!

Cosmo's Pizza
Dreamland (again, don't think they will ever go away!)
Cobb Lane Restaurant
Hot and Hot
Botegga Cafe
La Paz
OT's grill
Chez LuLu
Surin West
Purple Onion (I was always at the one close to 17th st south)
Davinci's Pizza
Ranelli's Deli

The Nick
Ona's
Upside Down Plaza
The Station
Zydeco
Club 21 (gay club... used to dance my @ss off there!)
The Quest (gay club... used to go there when we had already been everywhere else!)

I know there are so many other's... but I can't think of names right now!

Let's see, of the restaurants I believe OT is the only one that is closed. Everthing else is going strong.

Of the clubs, the only ones that I know about is
Ona's
Zydeco

Wow! I didn't expect to hear that OT's is no longer around! I figured he would be around until he couldn't walk to the door! I watched alot of football games there, with alot of friends!

Thanks for the update!

Hi everyone,

I don't know if any of you all are still posting in here. My husband and I are from New Orleans, probably looking to settle somewhere else now. We're considering a bunch of cities in the south, and I've heard really good things about Birmingham. If any of you wouldn't mind me asking questions about that area, would you PM me?

Thanks!

Abby

I tried to Pm you but the system says your box is full...

I live in Tuscaloosa now...originally from up near Huntsville. Semi knowlegable about Birmingham...What do you want to know?

I'm sorry that you are having to move; that area is (or used to be, I guess) a great place to visit. My DH is from Baton Rouge and his grandmother lives in Jefferson Parish.

I lived in B'ham for 6 years. What types of info are you looking for?

I love to hear anything you have to say about the quality of life there, whether you would recommend it for families, and how expensive it is. I've heard its a nice city, but have never been there - so pretty much any info/opinions would be great!

Hangin' In I just went back and re-read your old B'ham post. I can not believe someone else on CC loves the NICK!!! Oh the stories I could tell- you know you've become a regular at the Nick when you walk in the door and Phillip doesn't card you, or charge cover- and Wendy puts your drink on the bar as you cross the room (I guess you have to be a regular at the Nick to be able to cross the room when you first get there.) My college boyfriend's band used to play there alll the time. Hmmmm- God I feel old. I ride past there when I'm in B'ham visiting friends- and I always think about stopping by. Now that I'm preggo- it just doesn't seem right.:D You'll have to post- and let me know when you were hanging around those parts.

I miss Alabama soooo much! Thankfully, I've only got about 10 months to go in Nashville, and then (hopefully) I'm headed home!

Don't know if anyone's still reading, but just wanted to chime in from Montgomery!! Grew up in Montg, moved to Bham for about 4 years (Inverness area and Vestavia - I got REALLY lucky finding apartments;) !), and back in Montg for about 2 years (it was supposed to be a temporary return, but then I ran into my old boyfriend...:o !)
