Pumping Moms - Where've you done it?

As the light at the end of my pumping tunnel is in view, I was reflecting today on the many varied places I've had to pump breastmilk over the last many months.... Because of the nature of my job, I don't always have a reliable place to pump.... I thought it might be a fun thread!

I've pumped:

In bathroom stalls.

In a locked man's bathroom next to a papermachine.

In a parked car.

In my boss's parked car (he was elsewhere).

In a moving car with DH driving.

In a moving car while I was driving (it was a situation of desperation - just very happy I didn't get pulled over).

In a woman's locker room with other women coming and going.

Tucked underneath a desk in a locked office that had lots of windows.


I full plan to retire my pump just a little over 2 months from now.... I won't miss it a bit!

I've also done the airplane bathroom...twice on a cross-country flight. I think they thought I was a terrorist, going into the bathroom with a black duffel bag for 20 mins. :D

This weekend I pumped on as DH was driving and I was in the passenger seat on the way to church.

I haven't pumped many other places, but I have nursed in quite a few crazy places!!

Cars being driven by DH to various places (once as we were driving along the Pacific Coast Highway).

Closeted away in the IL's bedroom because if I couldn't nurse in front of them, there was no way they would alllow me to pump anywhere near them.

Mother's Room, where I had a number of different ladies bust in, wanting to see my baby (yeah, I leave my kid in the MR while I work all day and sneak in there to feed her every once in a while...). And it STILL took me 6 months to get a lock on the darn door.

Various conference rooms at work when the MR coordinator basically told me to to take a flying leap when I complained that the MR door didn't lock and people were a) walking in on me b) stealing my stuff c) smoking in there and d) leaving messes for me to clean up.

Ahh, can't wait to pump for #2 come this fall!

.......yeah, not many places LOL. I usually pumped before I left the house and right when I got home. I wasn't a big "leaker" (maybe because my stupid boobs got so huge and had plenty of room to hold the BM LOL) and rarely ever got super engorged...so yeah, I could wait :)


My sister on the other hand pumped in the car all the time. Her job requires lots of meeting with clients and driving back and forth...so she didn't have much choice. She became quite an expert at it :)

In a tiny restroom on a boat during a wedding. Didn't help that there were people pounding on the doors, wanting to get in after a few too many drinks!:rolleyes:

i rarely even pump but one day DH and i had to go to a wake in jersey and on the way back we were stuck in SO MUCH traffic at the tolls for the george washington bridge -- if you've ever been stuck in that traffic you know how massive it is. i had to no choice but to pump right there in the passenger seat. not fun when everyone else seems to have an SUV where they can look right in your car!!!

Oakland Raiders game (in First Aid)...that was interesting...the funniest part was getting the pump thru security at the staduim. As soon as I told the guy what it was, he was like, "Ok, you can go ahead" with the MOST embarassed look on his face (good to know if you want to sneak beers into the game, LOL!)

Seriously, how do you pump while driving?

If you have the hands-free attachments, or the Whisper Wear pump (always hands-free, but I don't recommend it, it leaks) I can picture it, otherwise, notsomuch.

Craziest place I've ever pumped isn't really that crazy: backseat, moving car, DH driving. That was hard enough for me. Bumpy road, and big windows. 'Nuf said.
