I did a search and didn't find what I'm looking for...

Our 7 week old DS is taking shorter naps these days..and spending a lot more time awake. He generally eats every three-four hours, but when we put him down for a nap he wakes up after an hour or so(generally pretty happy/smiley and content).

I guess I'm wondering if we should be concerned...should we pick him up and rock him back to sleep??

TIA

If he's happy, no. If he seems like he really needs to sleep more, maybe try it and see if that's indeed what he needs.

thanks, I know it's pretty much common sense, just wanted to ask:)

I think it was somewhere between 6-8 weeks that my dd started being more alert and not sleeping constantlyl. A baby that age should have an hour nap or longer and stay awake no more than 2 hours at a time (sometimes even only one hour) It also may be that your ds takes a couple short naps (45-60min) in the morning and then one longer one in the afternoon. So long as he doesn't seem crabby or irritable, and he is sleeping well at night (not necessarily STTN, but a good couple chunks at a time.
