I am still in shock from the BFP. My LMP was Dec 22 but I have PCOS so I am never on scedule. I have no symptoms. *knock on wood* I have already had an ultrasound done and 2 rounds of bloodwork to check my HcG levels. I have an appt with the intake nurse on Tuesday. I should be able to update my due date then.

Any other children: This is our first!
I'm a little confused on whether i am an October or November mommy to be. EDD goes by the first day of your last period but does it take into consideration your O date? I didn't O until closer to the cd20 mark. Wouldn't that make a difference? I am right on the border so i guess i'll go with November. Both my parents were born in november (and dad died in November) so that month needs another pick me up in my family :D

They don't take O dates into consideration. Your O date will make a little difference. Mine definitely makes a difference because there is about a 6 week gap between my LMP and when I O'd. But then again EDD's don't really make a difference because the baby will come when it wants to. I had my DD 2 weeks early and my DS 6 days late, who by the way was due 10/30 and born 11/5. So I am almost on the exact same time frame with this baby.
Congratulations!!!! :D

Thanks kadee_29- I did a couple of due date calendars and they all had my edd betwen oct 29-31. Since i know i didn't o until closer to cd 20 that extra couple of days would bump my edd into November. So, i'll assume it's november but i'll ask the ob when i have an appt. Plus, i'm already here so i'm staying! :D
I think i'm still in disbelief. I can't wait to call the doctor in the morning! I just want to confirm that i am pg and going strong! :p

My Dr didn't listen to me when I said I knew I wasn't as far along as they were saying. It took an u/s and 2 rounds of bloodwork for them to get that I was only a few weeks instead of the 9 1/2 they told me originally. And the u/s was fun because the baby didn't show. So I had to deal with 3 days of thinking I was going to miscarry before my Dr finally got it. My bloodwork is saying that I am between 3 and 4 weeks but I'm not sure if that is 3-4 weeks since conception or if that includes the 2 weeks before.
I can't wait to go the OB so I can finally figure it out.

Good morning ladies! Happy Monday.
I just called and scheduled an appt at my ob's office for tomorrow at 1:45! I can't wait!!! I'm SO excited.
Dh and i were talking last night and i told him that it didn't feel real. We both agreed that having it confirmed and being able to tell our parents and my sisters would make it seem more real. I seriously think it's all a mistake. Everytime i use the bathroom i check to make sure there's no af! Is that obsessive or what? 12 months of ttc takes a lot out of a girl and finally getting a BFP is just hard to believe i guess!
I've had a terrible time sleeping. I stopped taking my allergy medicine (which always knocked me out) and that coupled with all the anxious feelings and probably a symptom of actually being pg it's been a rough couple of days. I'm glad i get to go to the doctor tomorrow because even saying "probably a symptom of actually being pg" is hard to spit out for fear it'll jinx the whole thing ;)
My only other nuisance so far is gas unless you count my bbs feeling like they weigh 100 lbs and hurting! I hiccup and burp every 5 seconds! I don't think i did it most of the night then first thing when i got up this morning there they were again. Even dh said that it sucks! That's definitely not a complaint though. I'll take gas and hiccups and no sleep if it means in the end i get a beautiful healthy little baby. Now so far so good on the morning sickness... a little nauseous every now and then but nothing long lasting and usually after i burp i feel better. sorry if tmi. Hopefully i'll escape that experience. Fingers crossed that we all get to!

Well... we got pregnant on our 2nd month of trying this time! For DS it only took us 3 months, so I consider myself very fortunate. I don't know what I'm getting myself into, having another child... but I'm really looking forward to it. Yikes!
Our EDD is November 1st, but I will bet on an October baby. I had DS by c-section two weeks early, due to my blood pressure issues. I hope to do things differently this time as far as keeping myself healthier!

9 oops 8 months!!
This is the first child for dh and me and it wasn't until Saturday after our BFP that i really started reading about things. I guess i figured up to that point we should focus on getting pregnant rather than what happens when we do ;) I had no idea that by the time you can test you are already 1 month into it. Have to admit i was pretty pleased to find out there were only 8 months left to go!
I have an exciting summer planned and i just know that November will be here before we know it! Too bad i have to cancel/reschedule our cruise for Sept! Small price to pay i guess.

I'm an August 04 and June 06 Mommy who just wanted to stop by and wish you all a H&H 9 months.
Congratulations!
I have an ultrasound on March 9. Supposedly, you can at least see the baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks. I am terrified that it won't be there. I am terrified that something will go wrong.
Actually, I was supposed to start AF today, and I keep waiting for it to happen and this to all be over with. So far, so good.

Kyrsten- I could've written your post. Hang in there, you aren't alone. I feel the same way. Heck, i've taken 3 pg tests and they all came out positive and one digital that actually said positive and i am completely freaked out that all of a sudden af is going to show up and that's going to be the end of it. Every cramp i have i am worried something is wrong and that it's af. Heck i spent a year of cramps = af that i don't know anything else :p I'm trying so hard to convince myself that nothing bad is going to happen and you should too because i am sure the stress is not good for baby.
I hope when i go to the doctor tomorrow that they will do an ultrasound to make sure baby is there. When my sister went they did but she was further along than i am. I really just want a doctor to say that i am pregnant then maybe i'll believe it :D

I think I am going to ask for a repeat u/s tomorrow as well. The last one had me completely freaked out. I just want to see something in there.

kadee_29- Report back after your appt tomorrow. I'm going to go to mine and WHEN (check out that optimism!) it's confirmed i am going to go to the book store to get a couple of childrens books on grandparents/grandmas then head home to check in with all of you! I am looking forward to my afternoon off to celebrate!
My sister called today and it took all the willpower i have not to tell her. I actually told her i was busy and would call her tomorrow afternoon! :D

If my appt doesn't last too long I can run home quick and post an update before I head off to class. Otherwise, it will have to wait until after class. :(
I am so nervous. Last Tuesday mine was confirmed but it was such a rollercoaster for the next few days that I am just anxious to make sure everything is ok. I would like to get my DD something to tell her but she's already a big sister so I don't know what exactly to get her. The grandparents already know because I couldn't lie about it when they asked. :rolleyes:

I have a QOTD!
Telling people. When and how? :D
I seriously get teary when I think about telling my parents (but then crying all the time is apparently my first pg symptom). I really want to call them tonight and spill the beans! But I may try to suggest that they come and see us this weekend (they live 3.5 hours away) for my birthday on Saturday. I want to give them a picture frame that says "Reserved for Baby K., arriving in November" or something like that.
Also, we're going out to a Mexican restaurant with about 15 of our friends Saturday night for my B-Day. It will be so obvious when I order a virgin margarita. I can't decide whether to try and hide it, or just order it and let people's imaginations run wild. I would like to wait until at least 6-8 weeks before really telling people.
And telling DH's parents is a dilemma, too. They live in Hawaii - we'll be visiting them when I'm around 11-12 weeks. It would be wonderful to tell them in person, but I think DH wouldn't be comfortable with waiting that long to tell his parents something so important.
I really can't wait to call my grandma, and Reid's grandma and tell them they are going to be great grandmothers! :D I'm not sure when we'll call - maybe after 8 weeks or so.
mimieliza
02-27-2006, 04:27 PM
Kadee - good luck at your appt. I hope it goes well!
I have appts scheduled - March 28 (nurse) and March 30 (ultrasound and doctor). I can't believe I have to wait four weeks! I feel like I should be doing something right now.

Good QOTD! Telling people. When and how?
We are going to tell people as soon as we have it confirmed by a doctor (tomorrow, hopefully!) No one knows yet although i did give into the weakness yesterday and called my sister to tell her... I was glad when she didn't answer!
I can't wait to tell my mil. She's been hounding us about having kids for the longest time! When we told her we were getting married she didn't talk to dh for 3 days. This is BIG news she'll actually be happy about!
My mom already has 2 grandkids and another one on the way. I think she'll be most excited that we are finally pg because she knows i've struggled with it for a year. That and she always tells me that she's happy dh and i did things the "right way" since both my sisters had babies then got married. It'll be the first pregnancy announcement that she's 100% happy and excited about whereas she was mad at my sisters!
My sisters will be happy and excited but i don't know exactly what their reaction will be. I plan to tell my one sister the same way she told me. She called and said "Hey, what's up?" i said "not much" then she said "so, i'm pregnant!" I think it'll be funny to tell her the same way! The other sister will know somethings up as soon as i call and she'll probably ask me if i am pg. She's does that to me all the time. Maybe she figures if she asks enough the answer will eventually be yes!
1 really good friend already discovered my cc journal but to my knowledge she's the only friend i have that uses cc so hopefully we can keep it in until Friday to tell our other really good friends.
For everyone else we don't see on a regular basis i was thinking about sending out an email announcement. Is there a website where you can do this?
I considered not telling anyone until after the 1st trimester but 1.) i am horrible at keeping secrets and 2.) If something bad does happen i want the support of my family and friends.
Plus, after all the waiting i am ready to shout it from the rooftops!

QOTD~We have already told my grandma and MIL. I had to tell MIL because I need her to watch ds so I can go to my appt. I told my grandma because this past week has been a struggle for me and I just felt that she would be there for me no matter what happened. I am sure MIL has told everyone. She is just that type of person. My grandma is waiting until after my appt to tell people.
Here is a pic of the frame we used to announce my pg with ds.

Wow! Look at all the new November mommies! Welcome, welcome!!! :D
I stared to have a few more symptoms this past weekend. Every once in a while, I'll have a wave of nausea, but nothing major (yet). I'm exhausted and my bbs are getting more and more sore each day. Woo hoo!
I have my first OB appt scheduled for 3/10. It can't get here fast enough. I'm not sure what to expect. I'm hoping for maybe an u/s since I m/c'ed with my last pregnancy at 10 weeks. Guess I'm just hoping to get some reassurance at this appt. We'll see!
QOTD I have already told my family. They were visiting for Thanksgiving when my m/c happened last year, so they know we're trying anyway. I'm glad I decided to tell them. It's nice to have that extra support network. DH has not told the IL's yet. He's not sure when he will - maybe in a couple weeks when we travel to see them.

I'm tenatively joining. We've been struggling with infertility for a year and a half. We got preg in Aug, but at the 6 w ultrasound there was a sac, but no baby. We've had great beta numbers so far (111 at 13 dpo, and 331 at 15 dpo) but I'm still nervous until we see a heartbeat on the u/s.
QOTD--Last night we went out to eat to celebrate and I called my parents on the way home. I said, "Just wanted to be sure you're home, I have something to drop off". We went in and I said, "I saw these and thought you." I gave them each a wrapped book. The one for my dad was "I Already Know I Love You" by Billy Crystal. The one for my mom was "I Loved You Before I've Even Met You". They were both confused. My dad said, "Is this really written by Billy Crystal?" My mom finally said, "Oh, is there some signifance to this?" I said, "Yep" They both had huge smiles and gave us hugs. We plan on waiting until the first u/s to tell the rest of the family and ILs.

Welcome & Congrats Sinclair319! Try to stay optimistic. You'll fit right in since i'm convinced we are the most pessimistic preggos ever! :D Sometimes i feel like i am alone in my constant worry. Why can't being pregnant feel different than af cramps? I hope that goes away soon. It will be easier not fearing af!
I was showing optimism earlier and talked to my abdomen and told baby to stay safe :)
QOTD: Anyone have any cravings yet?
I have totally been craving ramen noodles! then Sprees! In that order :D It's like salty and starchy then sweet and sugary. Let me tell you though... an addiction to ramen noodles is cheap! I just paid 6 for a $1! That's crazy!

The constant worry gets better everyone!! And don't freak out if you can't hear the heartbeat at the first appointment.. as long as they can see it you're OK!
qotd #1- We've already told our families. They knew we were trying for #2, so it wasn't such a big surprise! With DS we didn't tell anyone other than our immediate family until about 12 weeks and that killed my mom!!! She wanted tell everyone. Now, when I mention it, my mom's like "it's still really early", like I shouldn't be talking about it?!?!?! :confused: Whatever.
qotd #2 Cravings?? Not yet. Last pregnancy it was dessert. Any kind of dessert. I had to have sweets after my lunch, dinner, anytime! I gained over 45lbs last time and am determined not to make the same mistakes. Hopefully veggies and salad will be my new cravings!! :D

QOTD #2~~I haven't really had any major cravings yet. I am sure they will come soon though.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I had my appt today. I only saw the nurse. She went over my medical history and took down a ton of information. The dr wasn't in the office today so she left a note for her to look over the meds I am on for my migraines. After an hour of going over the basic crap she decided she wanted me to go back to the lab for another round of bloodwork. They took 6 vials of blood. :eek: I got the normal stuff done and another check of my hcg level, an AIDS test and a TB test. I figured I might as well do it all now and get it over with. She wants me to call tomorrow for my test results and then she wants to schedule another u/s. Hopefully there is a baby in there this time.
I go back on March 20th for my first appt with the dr.
Oh, I wish I had a doctor's appt soon! I'm just going to keep taking HPTs just to prove there's still a baby in there. Quite pleased - I took a digital one today and it popped up "Pregnant" right away. :)
We told our parents last night - that was super fun. I can't wait to tell everyone else! We're going to try and hold out until we're six weeks along.
Kadee - I hope you do get a repeat ultrasound to put your mind at ease.
Okay, so we pretty much already knew that, right? But now i have been officially told by a doctor! He said "You're definitely pregnant" and then something about my cervix being blue? He lost me at "You're definitely pregnant!"
I had my blood taken for blood work and my next appointment that will include an ultrasound is on March 17 @ 11:45. I think he said we'll be able to hear a heartbeat by then? He put my due date at Oct 30 but said we might adjust it when we have the ultrasound since i know i didn't ovulate for 5 or 6 days after cd14 and heck dh and i didn't bd for 5 days before cd14 so it's absolutely not possible. So, hopefully you guys don't kick me out of the November thread :D My actual EDD is 11/3/2006.
I had the same tests done as kadee_29 but they also included cystic fibrosis and since i was anemic and get a vitamin shot each month they are going to check my levels for that too.
On my way home i bought "your pregnancy week by week" so i am going to go read that!
Hey mamas! Looks like I'll be joining, too. :) I can't believe I've been out here (well, here & the WC) for our wedding, 1st DD, and now another baby. Time flies! I really enjoyed my 1st pregnancy and couldn't wait to be PG again. I'm BFing our DD and my cycles were goofy so I had acupuncture treatment to straighten it out and after only 1 month, got PG! I hope to BF DD through this pregnancy and then tandem nurse.
Hi Kat!! So cool that we're in another mommies thread together! :) Congratulations!
Congratulations to all the other mommies! Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
QOTD:
yes:o I feel dumb though, bc I don't think that I should be having them this early. In fact, Dh is gone getting me a chocolate donut right now. And I have a huge thing for soft pretzels. And eggs. I could eat Greek omelettes every night for dinner. At least the eggs (and the cheese in the omelette) are protein, cause everything else I want is a big bad carb!
And I am starving all of the time! I stop, and make sure that I am really hungry, and I actually am! It is ridiculous. I wonder if it has anything to do with my endocrinologist upping my thyroid dosage :confused:
Got a wonderful phone call last night--my closest friend from college called to say she's preg! And we're due at the same time (maybe even the same day!) I told her all about this thread, so hopefully she'll be joining soon!
I'm definitely having some indigestion, but maybe it's because I pigged out at a Fat Tuesday party last night. ;)
Welcome catgirl1007! Congrats!
Kyrsten- I'm guessing it's perfectly normal. I can't get enough soup. I had soup again last night and i brought some for lunch today. Whatever works i guess.
Sinclair319- That's awesome! What are the odds?
Well, since i was in shock yesterday when the doctor said "You're definitely pregnant" and didn't think to respond to the comment about the blue cervix i looked it up on the internet!
I found this about a blue cervix at Babyhopes.com (http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/cervix-change.html)
Right after ovulation the cervix is returning to the dryer, lower, closed state you noticed after menstruation. During pregnancy the cervix becomes closed and blue in color.
So there ya go... a blue cervix means you are pregnant. Who knew it was that easy? I've seriously never heard this before! I guess we ALL have a blue cervix. :D
Hey Sinclair! Congrats!!! So happy to see you here!
Welcome catgirl! Congrats!
ellidew LOL! Glad the doc was able to confirm that you are indeed pregnant! Weird about the blue cervix thing though. I'd never heard about that!
QOTD No real cravings yet. My eating habits have been a bit unusual lately. I'll eat a normal meal, but get very full much faster than normal. Then, a couple hours later, I'll be STARVING and if I don't eat something, I get very nauseaus. Bizarre!
ETA: Special thanks to ffanel for the congrats. I hope things are going well for you and your little June-bug!
Kat ~ I know, who'd have thought that at our "advanced maternal age" we'd be so blessed. I did have to have acupuncture treatment to get my cycles back on track, but that's nothing. And yes, hopefully NO bedrest!! Judi from Oct 04 Mommies will know in about 10 days if she'll be joining us, too! :)
Where are all the November Mommies today? I guess we're still a pretty small group. :)
QOTD: Have you bought anything baby-related yet?
I couldn't help myself - I had my eye on a little Gymboree outfit that would make a perfect coming-home outfit. I didn't buy it while TTC because it's heavy fleece, and might be too warm for a summer baby. But it's PERFECT for a November baby, so I found it on Ebay, NWT for $15.00. I bought it today! :)
This is a terrible picture from the Ebay auction:
It's a little ivory-colored fleece top and pants, with a little owl on it. :)
That outfit you bought is adorable! QOTD: Nothing yet. I thought it was bad luck to buy something while we were ttc and you're right about not knowing what time of year it will be. This weekend i want to go to BRU with dh and pick something out to buy. Now that we are pg i just want something in the house to look at as a reminder. I don't even care what it is. Booties, a blanket, a toy, an outfit. Just a physical reminder that our family is growing! I want dh and i to go and pick it out together. Our first baby outing... i can't wait!
off topic: Does anyone else not feel pregnant yet? I've had some sleepless nights and some af like cramps and some cravings sore bb's and little things like that but nothing that just screams "You're Pregnant!" I guess that beats running to the toilet to puke! I don't know what i was expecting to feel when we got pg... I guess it's still early. I'm only at the end of the 4th week. I think the 6 week u/s will make a difference too. Actually getting to see our tamale will make a difference. lol.
Sorry, work was crazy yesterday, so QOTD today--what is your job?
I work at a community college with underprepared students, I'm also teaching Intro to Sociology this semester and LOVE it!
I'm definitely having a little nausea, it's more like a sour stomach and indigestion--lots of burping, I can only imagine it progressing to barfing--lovely. ;)
QOTD yesterday--I bought a few things the last time we were preg--Your Preg Week by Week (great book if you don't already have it), a couple of outfits (which now may not work since I was due in May) and we actually won a crib in a raffle about a year and a half ago (as I mentioned we've been trying for awhile) It's not my style of crib (I've always dreamed of white, and this is a pretty natural wood) so I think we'll probably give it to my parents to use when we're over there.
So nauseousand tired today it is ridiculous. I am really wondering how I am going to get through the day without falling asleep.
QOTD- I am a lawyer...and I am new at it, so it is not always the best. I hate not knowing what I am doing, and I don't get a lot of direction around here. I dream of the day that I can go into private practice.
QOTD yesterday- DH bought me a pooh bear, but I told him I wanted to save it for the baby. This was before we got the BFP, so does it count? :)
DD is sick. :( I think she caught the rotavirus when we went to the children's museum earlier this week. I have never in my life smelled anything nastier than rotavirus diapers.... eeeeewwww!! Poor little thing is walking kind of bow legged b/c her little bottom hurts. FWIW, Bodreaux's Butt Paste is the best thing I've found for diaper rash - in case anyone wants to stock up now. :)
QOTD job: I'm a SAHM. I used to be an HR Education Manager, but quit after DD was born.
QOTD baby items: We haven't bought anything for this baby yet. I think we'll wait to find out the gender and then start buying stuff. As it is our house already looks like a TRU store. :)
QOTD feeling PG: I felt more PG with DD at this point than I do with this baby. I am slightly nauseous, but nothing major. I'll be glad when we can hear the heartbeat and see the little bugger on the u/s around 7-8 weeks.
We're also big fans of Boudreaux's Butt Paste.
qotd I'm also a SAHM. I was an office manager for a printing company before DS was born.
qotd yesterday Haven't purchased anything yet. I don't think we could fit one more toy in our house. I have to do some major spring cleaning of the toys. If we find out we're having a girl there's going to be trouble!! DH will have to tie me down to stop me from buying every cute girl thing out there!!
old qotd I haven't had any major "your pregnant" feelings either. It's still so early. Just the little things like slightly sore bbs... a little "crampy" feeling... and I guess I'm a little tired, though DH would say that's nothing new.
OOOOHH... Maybe TMI, but this happened when I was pg with DS too... I am soooooo gassy!!!!!! It's awful.
Thanks ladies. You've helped make me feel less crazy. My sister insists she got morning sickness the day she conceived, my mom had horrible horrible morning sickness from the get go with all 3 kids, and my sister whos pg now was horribly nauseous for the first couple of months and still doesn't feel the greatest at 5 months. I guess i just thought i'd be sick! I guess i shouldn't complain, huh?
QOTD: I am an insurance agent. boring... I was going to go back to school starting this summer for HR or marketing but now i don't know what my plans are. If i start this summer i probably wouldn't go back until summer 2007 so i don't know if should go and get a semester out of the way in the 2nd trimester or if i should just wait until next summer. Any advice?
Have fun baby shopping katnbug.
QOTD 1 Nope, we haven't bought anything for this one yet. I really haven't had the urge to either. Last time I was pg, I did buy a Halloween hat/bib set from PBK, but I don't even think this kid is going to get to use that (unless I go early!). Guess I'm going to wait until I know everything is a-ok until I go shopping.
QOTD 2 I work in Finance for a very large US-based company, which basically means I'm a slave to corporate America (and the reason I haven't been able to check in here the past couple days. :rolleyes:
I've been soooo tired lately! Lastnight I slept 3 hours on the couch after dinner and then went to bed and slept all night. It's crazy. I'm getting excited and nervous for my appt next Friday. I just want everything to be ok. I'm still really hoping for an early u/s. I may ask for one if it's not offered.
ellidew - I know what you mean about feeling nervous. I get worried that I'm getting too excited, planning too far ahead. But, OTOH, I don't want to focus on the negative things that might happen.
As far as feeling pregnant, I do feel like I've been hit by a truck. The hormones are pretty powerful. I'm just shaking with tiredness by the end of the workday, and I've been napping when I get home and going to bed at 9:00. Also, I'm very emotional. It's like having seriously bad PMS (but being really happy at the same time, which makes me feel a bit crazy).
Kyrsten - DH is a lawyer, too, and can totally relate to feeling like you don't know what you're doing. His first year in practice was very difficult. Now he's doing public defender work, feels like he knows what he's doing and is very good at it. He's so much happier. Hang it there - I think it does start to get easier.
catgirl - I can't wait to see the hearbeat. I keep taking HPTs to see the line get darker and convince myself nothing is wrong. Four weeks to go until my appt.
Lilla - So you can relate to the crushing exhaustion. I've been feeling like a huge wimp, but I was so tired the other evening when I got home from work I started crying from exhaustion.
QOTD: Job I'm a social worker for a community mental health agency. I do intensive case management and therapy with adults with severe mental illness.
I just had to rescue us from page 2. I hope you're all having a good weekend!
I went to a Ladies Night Out for our church last night & it was fun. They do a huge raffle where you buy tickets and then put them in bags for certain prizes. There were probably 125 gifts - some silly, some really nice. Last year I won some Cubs tickets :), this year I won a "dental basket". It came with a teeth whitening kit, Oral-B electric toothbrush (I already have one of these, but a different model), some flossing tools and mouthwash! I've always wanted to do the teeth whitening, but I have a porcelean veneer on one of my front teeth & the whitening products won't work on that! :(
My sister won one of those electric massaging mats that you put on a chair.
I've got to go resume cleaning... my husbands friends are coming over this afternoon and they're going to a wine tasting. :( I'm staying home with DS.
But we are going to a hockey game later tonight for a friend's birthday. We got a sky box, so that will be nice! They always have good dessert in the sky box!!! :D
ellidew ~ that is a really cool ticker!
Kat ~ I hope you had fun! Sounds like you had a lot going on this weekend. Do you feel less tired this time than you did last? I don't think I'm as tired as I was with C.
I ended up with DD's rotavirus and it was awful. For 4 hours Friday night I was in the bathroom every 15-20 minutes. I lost 5 lbs. from Friday - Saturday. I called my OB's office & they assured me that as long as I don't get dehydrated, the baby will be fine. I keep checking (even more than usual) to see if I'm spotting. I'll feel much better after that 1st appt.
Catgirl- UGH. So sorry you ended up sick! It's no fun. Hopefully DH was home to help out with DD. We all had the flu about 2 weeks ago... I know what it's like to live in the bathroom for a night!! Not fun.
I don't know if I'm more tired this time. I have been napping when DS is napping... sometimes for 2 hours in the middle of the day. I was working when pregnant the last time, so I didn't have that luxury! ;) But I remember coming home from work and just laying on the couch until DH got home.
I have seriously tried to sleep all day. I just can't seem to keep my eyes open for more than 5 minutes at a time. I want nothing more than to crawl back in bed and sleep the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately, my DD is at MIL's so I have to go pick her up. :rolleyes:
katnbug - wow, a skybox sounds awesome! Have fun!
catgirl - I'm sorry you were sick. I'm glad the OB reassured you that aside from feeling like crap the baby will be okay. I know what you mean about checking for spotting - I check every time I'm in the bathroom (which is frequently because I'm so thirsty).
kadee - The tiredness is really overwhelming. I can't believe how strong it is this early.
DH and I got books yesterday. My friend who just had her baby a week ago gave us The Girlfriends Guide and My Boys Can Swim. We bought What to Expect and a really amazing book called A Child is Born. It's a full color book that outlines in incredible detail the whole process from egg and sperm to baby being born. The pictures are all actual photographs of different stages of development.
We also stopped in a fancy-schmancy baby store called Ella Bella. We're considering a rocker-recliner that we found there. I think I'd be okay with purchasing that now because it's sooooo comfortable, and we plan to use it in our living room. Plus, it takes 10 weeks to order - I'd like to be able to sit in it and watch TV once I get more pregnant.
I'm so emotional. I've cried everyday, and I'm not able to let things go - I just keep spinning worst-case-scenarios. Then, I'll alternate that despair with these periods of incredible happiness, contentedness and well-being. It's crazy, I tell you. :)
Good morning ladies! How was your weekend? Mine was fine... i've noticed since being pregnant that i can't find anything to occupy my restlessness and i am constantly bored. Even if i am doing something i just can't seem to be content. It's a nuisance! Still no morning sickness or nausea but i've had plenty of gas and constipation :D Probably tmi, huh?
This weekend we went to BRU and looked around. It was a lot of fun and dh and i had a lot of fun joking around. Like with diaper bags. I liked this really neat red paisley one and he liked the ones that look like camcorder cases. I told him that we will have to get 2! :D
We bought something for baby while we were there. It's a fleece blanket that has "Sweet pea" embroidered on it. You can't tell in the picture but the other side has polka dots on it. It's really cute.
ellidew - That blanket is so sweet! I wish I had the kind of energy/restlessness you're talking about. I hardly moved all day yesterday.
Sinclair - I would really like to work in a college environment. I was an admissions counselor at a law school a few years ago and I loved it.
Ade - Welcome and congratulations! :)
QOTD: Where do you live? I live in a small town in Eastern Oregon. If I could live anywhere, I might choose to move back to Portland, or I might not. Portland is a great city, but the traffic is awful, it's very expensive to live, and we have found a great, friendly community in the town where we live. We're about 3.5 hours from Portland, 4 hours from Seattle, so close enough to enjoy the city for weekends.
ellidew
03-06-2006, 12:12 PM
mimieliza- Restlessness isn't all it sounds like its cracked up to be! :p Never being content, not sleeping, being wide awake at 2am and sleepy at 2pm but unable to calm down enough to nap. Bored and aggravated that nothing holds your attention. It sucks. I'd imagine it sucks as much as being constantly tired and feeling drained! Weird how we're at opposite ends of the spectrum. I'd settle to be back in the middle :D
QOTD: Where do you live? We live in St. Louis. If i could live anywhere it would be somewhere it doesn't get cold. I HATE being cold! Dh looked into moving to St. Thomas, USVI a few months ago! We seriously consider moving all the time. I think once our parents retire and move away (per their plans) we'll pack up and head our own seperate way. There's no telling where we'll end up.
I'm still kind of reeling from shock. We weren't TTC, so this came as s bit of a surprise. At this point I am just trying to take it day by day. I am high risk, so I'm having a hard time looking all they way to the end result (baby) and am just focusing on not miscarrying (like I could do anything to prevent that!). My DH is telling EVERYONE! I'm more nervous and want to wait until we at least hear a heart beat. I know there's still no guarentee that I won't miscarry at that point, but my sister had a molar pregnancy, and my MIL had a blighted ovum, so I think I want to at least make sure that there is the possibility that it is going to become a baby before we tell the world.
We went to the Dr's yesterday and had all of my lab work done and an ultrsound to rule out etopic pregnancy (my nighbor and close friend is a Dr, so she arranged everything for me as soon as I told her). Everything looked okay (only one yolk sac, thank god!), but it was too early for a heartbeat. So, DH is taking that as his sign that it's okay to start telling. He's told 4 of our closest friends, his dad, his mom and his most important client so far. He wants to tell 2 other close friends tonight, as we are going to see them this weekend, but in a big group, so they should know before everyone else.
I haven't even told my family yet! I'm going to see them in person on Sunday, so would like to tell them then, but at the rate Clay's blabbing they'll probably hear it from the garbage man before I get a chance to tell them! Oy! Men! I guess I should be happy he's so excited, but it's still a little frustrating. Oh well!
So far I have gotten pretty bad nausea, but it hits me at night and not in the morning. I got some of those pressure point nausea wrist bands and they seem to help. I've learned that I can't let my stomach get empty. I'm drinking watered down pedialyte and that is helping. Already went up a bra size, oy vey! And am living in comfy pants as anything that pushes against my waist too much makes me nausous. Oh, and my clothes feel tight due to bloating. Man, I'm in for a rough 9 months!
Well, thanks again for welcoming me, sorry for the novel, but I'm still trying to process this all! Congrats to all!
Well... i broke down and made my first call to the doctor about what to do about wanting to scratch my hands off due to eczema! I had it before i got pg but had pills i took at night that prevented the itching so before i just had the red rough patches that i could totally deal with! The itching is about to send me to the insane asylum!
I wish it could be sooner. :(
I cannot believe I am finally pregnant! I keep expecting AF to show up at any time. I have these dull cramps that are freaking me out, but from what I have read that is fairly normal. We have not told anybody yet (we just found out yesterday) but I am terrified of having a miscarriage so we will probably wait until after my first appointment. All of the women on my Mom's side of the family have had multiple unexplained miscarriages.
My biggest problem is that I need to tell work very soon. I work part time as a surgical tech and I am exposed to many potentially harmful things such as radiation and toxic chemicals that they keep pregnant women away from. I do not get along with my charge nurse very well (nobody does) and I don't particularly want to let her know right away, but I don't think I have much of a choice. The baby's safety comes first.
Welcome, Ilovemygeek! I'm so happy to see you here from the TTC w/Charting thread. :)
I am still a little in shock that I got a BFP. I don't have an OB or GYN so I am in the process of figuring out who to go to. That in itself is overwhelming. I never realized there were so many things to think about when picking an OB-GYN. Hopefully, I can find someone soon so I can go ahead and make the first appt.
Do ya'll think I should go see my regular doctor while in the process of finding an OB?
03-07-2006, 11:39 AM
RubberSoul - Yay! Welcome and congratulations! You could just call your regular doctor and find out what they would like you to do. My OB doesn't want to see me until the end of March, anyway, so you probably have some time to look around and find someone you like. The office was actually quite funny when I called just days after my BFP - they said it was easy to schedule someone who wasso prepared and planning ahead. They apparently get a lot of women who just wait until they're like six months along and then want to get in right away.
I'm continuing to struggle with fatigue. I have to plan my evenings very carefully - I can do one errand and make one phone call, and that's about it.
Congrats RubberSoul. I'm still in disbelief and i've had over a week to let it sink in! It's still so exciting and new! It probably wouldn't hurt to go see your regular doctor if for no other reason that to verify your BFP! Personally, i needed my BFP validated! :D
mimieliza- Sorry you are struggling. Between your sleepiness and my sleeplessness we'd make one fine person :D All we have to do is figure out how to share! Hopefully you are feeling better soon.
RubberSoul I echo what the other ladies have said. If you go see your regular doc at least they can verify your BFP. :)
I also did not have an OB when I got pg with #1. My GYN did not deliver babies. Luckily, I had a few friends who had just had babies and they recommended my OB.
Is anyone else ravenously hungry? If I go more than three hours without something to eat my stomach starts growling! It's getting kind of embarrassing. My DH thinks it is all in my head, but I am normally a light eater and this is very unusual for me.
Congratulations and welcome to Ade, Ilovemygeek & RubberSoul!! :)
Ilovemygeek ~ I'm hungry more often, too. My OB told me to eat many small "meals" throughout the day - every couple of hours. I'm also BFing my DD so I have 2 babies zapping the calories out of me. It's hard to keep up.
I was ravenous for a while, but that is starting to calm down as I become increasingly more nauseated. :(
Anyone else so bloated that they already look pg? I serioulsy cannot believe how consistently bloated I am. Now, I am someone who has always bloated...every day...but I woke up almost every morning with a relatively flat stomach. Not anymore. Seriously, it is kind of embarassing to be this bloated! I look like I am 4 months pg! Please tell me someone else is going through this!
Thanks for welcome and the replies about going to my reg. doctor. I will call them today and make an appointment.
I am waking up a lot in the middle of the night and that is very unusual for me. I can usually sleep like a champion. Maybe the fatigue early in the evening will help me even out the amount of hours I am sleeping since I fall asleep on the couch so early! :p
ellidew- I too would like a medical professional to tell me I am pregnant. Maybe then it will seem real. Seeing two lines on a stick just doesn't do it for me for some reason.
mimieliza- I had my first bout with fatigue last night. I was laying on the couch and started drifting off to sleep around 9:30. I can usually stay up until 11:30!
Ilovemygeek- I haven't noticed a change in my appetite so far. I have strange eating habits to begin with so I don't know if I would notice a change. Only time will tell.
Kyrsten- I am definately very bloated. I didn't think I would be so bloated at this point, but for some reason I am. It is drivng me nuts too cause I can't wear some of my favorite jeans. I hope it goes away so I can wear my favorite clothes for a while longer.
I feel bloated too. I don't remember this happening with either of my other 2 but that is starting to feel like forever ago. In my aerobics class we were stretching and I swear it felt like my stomach was in the way already. :rolleyes: I know I will get bigger faster because I have already gone through it but I don't want to look 6 months pg when I am only 2.
I feel ya' kadee! I don't want to look pg at all when I am only 6 weeks!
I was reading in What to Expect that you can try to kill the bloat with excess amounts of water.
Now that you mention water...a new QOTD. Does anyone else feel like they are constantly thirsty?? I feel like I haven't had a thing to drink in hours when I just had something.
QOTD I am constantly drinking. Constantly. I have TWO bottles of water on my desk right now bc I didn't want to have to get up and get another when I ran out. I will be done with one in about 5-10 minutes.
Kyrsten ~ I got really bloated with my DD. I started wearing maternity pants at 6 weeks! It eventually let up in 2nd trimester. I'm slightly bloated now with this one and expect it to get worse for me.
QOTD thirst ~ I'm thirsty too and unfortunately I seem to find that I drink most of my water in the evening when I have time to sit down and chill out. Then I'm up peeing all night. :rolleyes:
mimieliza
03-08-2006, 03:06 PM
Ilovemygeek - yes, so hungry. It's like eating has elevated to the level of importance as breathing. If I don't eat when I'm hungry, I start to feel desperate like I would if I couldn't breathe.
Kyrsten - I was bloated right around when AF would have come, but it seems to have gone down now.
QOTD: Thirsty I am very thirsty. I'm drinking a lot of water, and going to the bathroom all the time.
I feel like a big pregnancy wimp. I'm already really struggling with the exhaustion and emotions. The past few days have been very hard. It's just difficult to manage my job with this kind of fatigue, and when I get home I have nothing left - all I can do is lay around. On top of that, I'm having some insomnia - it's like I get so tired that I can't sleep, my mind won't shut off.
I'm going to try not napping in the evening when I get home and going to bed super early.
Been lurking here for a few days, decided that I would officially join. It feels kind of strange to tell people here because we're not telling anyone IRL for several weeks.
This pregnancy was a surprise, but not a shock. I knew that we weren't being careful enough and that there was a chance, but I still didn't expect it. Our timing is pretty bad because we're about a month from finishing building our house (we're doing most of the work) and now I'm out of commission as far as that goes. Oh well, we'll get it finished eventually.
I had my first appointment at the birth center today. They just did labwork. I go back to see the midwife in 6 weeks. I think I'm going to have an u/s in a couple of weeks to check my dates. Stupid me can't remember when I started my LMP. :rolleyes: :o
I'll have to go back and read all of the QOTDs, but I saw the one above me about thirst. Jeez, I've been thirsty. It's not all of the time (not too bad today), but sometimes you would think I've been lost in the desert. No one ever told me about that one! Besides that, I get a little fatigued and nauseated during the day. Oh and my boobs are already bigger which is really not necessary in my case (I don't even want to think about how big they'll get). Surprisingly I'm not that bloated. I expect now that I wrote that I will look like I have a basketball in my stomach tomorrow. ;)
Well, I hope everyone here has a happy and healthy 9 months!
Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't had a chance to check in for a while. But, the budgets are done and my life should return to normal now! Don't you hate it when work gets in the way of life?! ;)
Welcome to the new November mommies Ade, Ilovemygeek, Rubbersoul and littlemia!!
QOTD I tend to drink a fair amount of water normally, but now that I'm pg, I constantly feel thirsty. Guess it's because of all the trips to the bathroom I've been making.
Otherwise, I've been feeling pretty good. I do get some nausea here and there each day. And I had a nosebleed this morning! I never get those, so that was really strange. I have my first OB appt tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited and ready to hear that everything is progressing along normally. I don't expect an u/s tomorrow, but I think I will ask about possibly having one done between this appt and my next one.
Hope everyone else is doing well!
Welcome littlemia!! (from a fellow 4/26/03 bride)
qotd- Thirst.. yes! All of the time. I was grocery shopping last week and had to stop at the cooler to get a single bottle of water. I actually thought I was going to pass out if I didn't chug it! I finished it before I got to the check-out and felt kind of silly asking her to scan an empty bottle.:rolleyes:
sort of qotd- anyone have twins in their family & thinking that they may be carrying multiples??? My husband has lots of multiples on his mothers side - but a few generations older. I really don't think I am pregnant with multiples. My point was more that I was obsessing about my appt. tomorrow and thought how crazy it would be to get that news. Since we have a DS who will be 2 when this one arrives, I honestly don't think I could handle more than one more.
Welcome to the new members! I'm so excited this thread is growing!
Lilla--work has been getting in the way of my CC time lately, that has got to stop! ;)
Twins qotdThere are a set of twins on my husband's side of the family. My beta numbers went from 111 to 331 in 2 days (they're supposed to double every two days). Since we did infertility treatments, we know I only released one egg, so if there are twins, they'd be identical. The NP did mention that if I'd released more than one egg, that they'd wonder about multiples.
I'm getting excited about my appointment on Monday. We have an u/s at 8 am and should see the heart beating away.
I've been feeling really good until today--was wide awake at 4:30 am, then have had some nausea today. And yes, I'm thirsty more than average too.
I need to get caught up on the QOTD's
Telling people - when and how?
I have already told a few of my close friends, but we haven't told our parents yet. We will most likely tell my Dad and Stepmom when my DH gets home from his rotation (he works in Canada for 20 days and is home 10 days a month). We will probably wait until we hit 13 weeks or so before telling everyone else. We will spill the beans to my parents because they live in the same city as me and I would want their support if something did happen and DH was not here.
Anyone have any cravings yet?
No cravings for me so far.
Have you bought anything baby related yet?
I haven't allowed myself to buy anything baby related. I still don't quite believe that I am actually pregnant. After a doctor tells me I am I will probably go out and buy some books.
What is your job?
I am an HR Administrator for a video game developer. I also do many other things around here besides HR. It keeps me on my toes!
Where do you live? If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
I live in the Triangle area in North Carolina. Honestly I love living in NC and don't have a desire to live anywhere else. I have lived all over this state and love it!
Ravenously hungry?
Not really. I would say my appetitie is about the same.
Constantly Thirsty?
No, but when I do get something to drink I find myself chugging it down. Maybe that is a sign I need to up my water intake.
Twins?
I have twin cousins and my BIL has twin boys. I don't think we are all that likely to have twins. However, I have always had this fear that I will have twins because DH and I only want to have 1 child together (DH has a son - he was born when DH was 17 - DH's son lives in Ohio with his mother). We have always said we will have one and see how it goes. I figure because of that statement we will probably have twins :p .
~~~~~~
I made an appointment with my regular doc and go in tomorrow for a preg. test with them. So, I hope to get the "official" word from him that I am pregnant and not crazy. You would think I would believe it since I had 4 positive HPT's and I haven't gotten my period!
Welcome littlemia!!!

QOTD ~ twins ~ It is so funny this was mentioned. For some reason I keep thinking twins. The only set of twins I know of in my family is a set within my grandfathers siblings. So it is highly unlikely that we would have them. But it was also supposed to be highly unlikely that I got pg at all and I am now on #3. I will know for sure tomorrow with the u/s.

Hi Ladies!
I went to the doctor this morning and he told me I was pregnant! I figured that was what he was going to say :rolleyes: . It was nice to hear it from him though. I told him about my experience last month with the chemical pregnancy. The wierd thing is when I said "I had a chemical pregnancy last month" he looked at me and said "a what?" I guess some doctors don't use that terminology (GP's anyway). So, he said he wanted to draw blood and check HCG levels to confirm as well. I totally forgot to ask him when I could find out the results. I guess I will just call on Monday.
I made an appoinment with an OB, but have to wait until April 11th to go see them. They don't want you to come in until you are between 8-11 weeks. I feel like that is forever from now. They did tell me that they would be doing an ultrasound, so I am excited about that!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi girls! My appt today went well! Everything looked great and doc said my uterus felt really good for being as far along as I am. She scheduled me for an u/s next Friday just to make sure there is a heartbeat (never got to that stage with my last pg). I can't freaking wait to get that u/s done. This next week is going to go by so slowly!
Updates: u/s appt 3/17, next OB appt 4/7.
Catching up a bit here...
QOTD Twins - I think there is a very slight chance of twins on my side of the family, but I'm not thinking it's a very likely proposition.

Kyrsten & kadee ~ Frank & blobby are adorable! :)
I'm going crazy waiting for my 1st appt... 3/31!! I'll be 8 weeks by then.
QOTD twins ~ I got a light BFP one day after implantation at 10DPO, so I started thinking that maybe it's twins. With my DD I didn't get a BFP until 13DPO. I'm also over 35 and my acupuncturist gave me one treatment that could encourage twins, but who knows... I doubt it is, but I have thought about it.
How soon does a single egg split into two to form identical twins? Does anyone know?

Seeing your baby's heart beat for the first time: PRICELESS!!
Our ultrasound went great this morning, we were able to see the sac and a tiny little blob with a beating heart that is our baby! Our nurse practioner said everything looks *perfect* and we go back in 2 weeks on the 27th for another u/s. The heart rate was 120 which according to old wives tales means a boy. ;) I'm due November 5, 2006. She said our chance of miscarriage drops from 15% to 6%!
We're excited but still very much in shock and disbelief. I keep peeking at the u/s picts in my folder and just smile. I just started a journal to the baby (my mom did that when she was preg with me and it was the coolest thing I've ever read!)

I've gotten way behind!
I'm so excited for everyone with good ultrasound news! :) Can I ask a question? Those of you that saw the heartbeat, how far along were you? I have an ultrasound at 7w6d - I'm wondering if I'll get to see the heartbeat. I'll feel so much better after that.
Welcome and congratulations to littlemia, BethIrish and jeggink! :D
BethIrish - I got my BFP with a regular test at 9 DPO, and the digital didn't show until 12 DPO. DH became a believer after he actually saw the work "Pregnant." :)
I'm still so tired. I felt a little better on Sunday, but then started getting worried that I was feeling better. Fortunately (?) I got really tired, dizzy and nauseous Sunday evening, and my boobs hurt like crazy, so I was reassured that all is well.
First real nausea this morning - I almost lost my cookies when I opened the fridge a caught a whiff of last night's leftover Chinese food. I made DH double bag it and throw it in the trash outside. Still feeling a bit ick and trying to work through it.
QOTD Twins: I really, really hope it's not. No twins in my family, so that's good. But I got my BFP very early (9 DPO) and started having real, full-blown symptoms at 3w5d, which seems very early. Funny story - DH has identical twin cousins (boys) who were 11 when we got married. We had all the wedding guests fill out sheets of paper that asked for their wishes for the bride and groom. Guess what the twins wished us? TRIPLET BOYS! So we joke that we've been cursed. :)
I have a new QOTD: Medications. What are you taking? What are you avoiding?
I was freaking out about what I could and couldn't take, so I decided I would go with whatever my doctor said and not question it further (because if you dig around on the internet, you can always find some evidence that whatever you're doing will hurt your baby). My doctor said Tylenol and Tums are totally okay, I can take as often as needed. I've only had to take Tylenol twice, and Tums about every third night. Benadryl is okay occaisionally for allergies or sleep. I took it for a few nights early on, but haven't taken any for a few weeks. Now I need something for (TMI) constipation, so I need to call back and find out what is okay.

Welcome BethIrish and jeggink!!! Very H&H 9 months to both of you! BTW, BethIrish don't worry about not getting a positive with the digital yet. With my last pg, I didn't get a positive digital until a good 2 or 3 days after my other positive non-digital HPTs.
Sinclair Oh, SOOO happy you saw the h/b!!!! I can't wait until I hopefully see one on Friday.
mimieliza I want to say that you can see the h/b starting at around 6 weeks or so. My u/s this Friday is being done for the sole reason of making sure there is a h/b. I'll be 6w6d, so it looks like your u/s timing will indeed enable you to see it.
QOTD At this point, I'm avoiding Advil and my usual prescription for Advair. I have mild asthma and usually take a small dose of Advair every day to help control it. I feel uneasy using it during pregnancy though. I can't find ANY reports online saying that it's safe or unsafe. And my doc did not specifically say it was safe - she just said to keep using it rather than risking an asthma attack. I guess I'm being a rebel because I'm not taking it. Again, my asthma is very mild, I do have a rescue inhaler, and I just don't want to chance it. It may be an unpopular opinion with some, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Looks like i have some catching up to do too!
QOTD: Twins Dh has 1 set of twins on his side. There aren't any on my side. I'd say the odds are pretty low. I'd welcome the surprise though.
QOTD: Medications I stopped taking everything as much as i could at least for the first tri. My decision. The doctor said i could use the steroid cream for my eczema and take my Zyrtec for allergies. I'd rather suffer than take the chance. Heck, i'm half way through the first tri already! I can make it another 6-7 weeks! I've caved and taken my allergy meds on 2 seperate occasions though. Ugh... i'm so weak. lol. I've definitely taken Tums! Haven't had a need for Tylenol yet but those 2 things i wouldn't hesitate to take occasionally.
mimieliza- Eh, at this point i think modesty has been thrown out the window. Is there such a thing as tmi anymore? lol :p I've been told benefiber for constipation. It's clear and tasteless and mixes into anything. My u/s is on Friday and i'll be right at 7 weeks and my doctor said we'd be able to hear the heartbeat. Fingers crossed all is well!
BethIrish- WELCOME AND CONGRATS! Fwiw. I tested at 7 dpo and got a positive on a very sensitive internet cheapie. I tested again that day on a digi and an accuclear and both came up negative. This was on a Saturday and i tested everyday throughout the week except Friday (accuclear and $ store) and got all BFN's until Saturday of the next weekend. The internet cheapies i ordered came in (i'd used the last one the week before) and when it came back positive i took an ept and then the other digi i had laying around and all came back BFP! There was a weeks difference between that 1 internet cheapie and all the others. Iwasn't a believer until i went to the doctor but that digital test reading "Pregnant" was pretty convincing!
Sinclair319- YAY! Congratulations! Keep looking at those pictures... that's your little baby! :D
jeggink- Congratulations! Sorry about your last miscarriage. Try to stay positive!

Welcome BethIrish and Jeggink!!!
QOTD Medications - I have been taking Tums as needed but that is about it. I will take Tylenol if I need to. I don't have any other medications to worry about. However, I have noticed that I have been sneezing more than usual so I think some allergies may be returning. I will have to ask the doctor about what I can take if they start to really bug me.
I had to move my first OB appointment to April 17th so DH could come with me. Since I am supposed to get an ultrasound he wants to be able to come too. I want him to be there as well. It will be so much better if he is there to share the experience.
Another QOTD: Is your SO going to go to all/most of your OB appointments with you?
My DH is out of town a lot for work, but I am hoping to schedule my appointments for when he is home so he can go with me.
I have started getting nauseous when I eat too much food. I still haven't quite figured out what the stopping point is so this doesn't happen. I am usually so hungry when I start eating that I am not eating slow enough to feel full before I reach the point of overload. I am starting to get tired in the afternoon now too. I will have to work out a way to take a nap under my desk like George did on Seinfeld.;)

Welcome jeggink and BethIrish!! I will get your stats added later tonight.
Sinclair319 ~ Congrats on the u/s!!! It's amazing isn't it?!?! :D
mimieliza ~ The tech said I was 6w2d and she saw a hb then so there should be no problem seeing one when you have your u/s.

QOTD: Is your SO going to go to all/most of your OB appointments with you?
No, but... i would like him there, and i think he'd like to be there, for all the important ones. He's going to go on Friday to hear the heartbeat and then he probably wont go again until the 20 week u/s. Unless something comes up between there, i'm still new to this and don't know what the timeline of important pregnancy doctors events is ;)

I'll work on getting all of the QOTD answered tonight ;)
Just wanted to pop in and say I'm e.x.h.a.u.s.t.e.d. I can barely keep my eyes open! :( And my bb's...they hurt just sitting here!!! And the gassy-ness...eek! I guess I can't complain too much, though....I'm pregnant! :D

Beth- You're making me feel better - I felt like I got hit by the tired truck just days after my BFP. See, I'm not the only one! I really do love the feeling of being so tired you can cry one minute and then laughing out loud with joy the next minute. I'm not being sarcastic - it was amazing! The emotional ups and downs have started to even out now, but that first week after the BFP was just so cool. :)
jeggink- We have ultrasounds at the same time on the same day! :)
I am loving the weekly updates I get from babycenter.com. I highly recommend signing up if you haven't already. So, so cool - I got teary-eyed last Friday when I got the Week 5 update and read that my baby's heart will start beating this week.
QOTD: DH at appts DH WILL come to the first ultrasound. He's been very wishy-washy about whether he has a trial or not, and frankly, I'm very irritated with him. I know he's excited, and I know he wants to go, so just reschedule your work schedule or do what you have to do! He's known about it for TWO WEEKS, so now it's too late to reschedule the appt. Anyway, I'm pulling the Psycho Pregnant Lady card and telling him that he will be there no matter what! :)
He probably won't attend the other appts except for ultrasounds. He needs to be able to save up his sick leave so he can take plenty of paid time off when the baby comes.

Congratulations BethIrish & Judi!!! So glad you two will be joining us! Judi, I was hoping you'd be out here soon. :)
QOTD medications ~ I'm not taking anything. I've had to be careful anyway since I'm still BFing my DD so it's not that big of a stretch for me. When I was PG with her I took Tylenol for headaches & Benadryl for allergies. I've become more holistic in my approach to things since she was born so if I do need something, I'd probably go the natural route.
QOTD DH at appts ~ He'll probably try to go to most of them, esp the u/s & heartbeat ones. The weekly ones toward the end are only about 5 minute appts., so he'll probably skip those.
My symptoms were kicked up a notch today... major bloating, gas, headache and nausea. I wore Warm Vanilla Sugar lotion from Bath & Body Works and I think I have to take a shower before bed. I've been smelling it all day and it makes me want to hurl.

Welcome and congratulations to all of the new moms-to-be!
QOTD: Medications: I haven't taken anything since I found out except for my thyroid medication. I'm going to try not to take anything else at all. Tylenol has really never worked for me, anyway. Never taken Tums, though I might need to as time goes on.
QOTD: DH at appts: I think he'll come to the big ones. I still have to make my u/s appt, but I think I'll have him come to that. I need to call the birthing center to see if he should come to my first appointment. It supposedly lasts an hour and a half, so I imagine he will get bored, but I think they're going to try to find the heartbeat with the doppler and I think he would like to be there for that.
I'm still so tired. I felt a little better on Sunday, but then started getting worried that I was feeling better. Fortunately (?) I got really tired, dizzy and nauseous Sunday evening, and my boobs hurt like crazy, so I was reassured that all is well.
Yeah, there are some times where I don't feel pregnant at all. I can't detect any symptoms and I feel like my regular self. As much as I hate the symptoms, they are reassuring. I actually took another pregnancy test Saturday because I was feeling so good that day. I had to laugh when I got a super dark line before the urine even entered the control window.

Congratulations jeggink and BethIrish!
QOTD: Medications I have stopped taking my daily Toprol for tachycardia (racing heartbeat) at the recommendation of my cardiologist. He said he would at least like me to get through the first trimester without it then we would reevaluate. I will probably take some Tylenol tonight because my back is sore.
QOTD: DH at appts He says he is going to make it to all my appointments, but I do not know if that is realistic.
No nausea or anything yet, but I am sure it is coming. I am bloated, gassy, hungry, and tired though. I never thought I would be so happy to feel like this.:)

Congratulations and welcome, HolyCow! :)
Ilovemygeek ~ Did your cardiologist mention that you might experience racing heartbeat in 1st trimester b/c of the extra blood flow? I have mitral valve prolapse and it really started acting up in 1st trimester when I was PG with my DD. I think our blood flow increases 25-30% in first trimester and it taxes our hearts b/c they have to pump faster. I saw a cardiologist and wore a monitor for 30 days and also had a heart u/s. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you start experiencing that.

COngrats Holycow!
catgirl Thanks, I was hoping to! Good luck bf'ing through the pg! I had to stop with the last pg around x-mas due to all the problems. My dr said that if everything was going OK he was fine with having me continue, but unfortunately things didn't and I had to stop to hopefully help with the spotting. He wanted all my energy focused on the pg. I did try again after the m/c but by then it just felt weird, don't know how to explain it.
mimieliza hehe, that is to funny. I guess we will be updating at the same time!
Thanks for the welcome ladies!
No symtoms really for me yet, very mild nauseau, slightly tired, dizzy, heartburn at night, but that is the extent. I actually have a good amount of energy. With DS I didn't get evening sickness till 6-7 weeks. Oh, my bb's are getting slightly sore. If I didn't take a test I probably wouldn't even know I was pg.
twins Not in my family, but with the m/c I have a feeling that may have been twins that didn't form properly due to multiple pieces of data.
medications Nope, I try and stay away from them throughout the pg. Most meds affect me rather strongly. The only thing I will take is some tylenol and zantac for heartburn as I have a heartburn issue and tums do not do anything. But it usually isn't often and I won't take even that usually during the 1st tri. Just personal I guess.
DH at appts Nope, just the ultrasounds. We have already been through this once and most appts are 5 min or so.

Thanks for the Congratulations, everyone! And Congrats to HolyCow!
Hope everyone is feeling well today. I'm still tired. The BBs are sore, but not aching like they were yesterday.
Warning: VENT ahead!!
DH is going to drive me insane. I was miserable by the time I got home last night at 7:30 pm. My bbs hurt so much they ached, I felt like I'd been hit by a truck I was so tired and I'd had a long, frustrating day. He will not get fully on board with the "Beth is pregnant" idea until I show him a positive digital test that says "Pregnant." Sigh. The three, YES 3!, positive CVS +/- ones are not proof positive in his eyes because "the lines are so light and that digital one said Not Pregnant!!"
So, I tell him I'm tired, my bbs hurt and I just want to go to bed. He says, "I can't believe you'd have all these symptoms this early. You must be getting sick." Not five minutes later he offers me a glass of wine. HELLO?! I'M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!! Men really don't understand, do they? Granted, we talk this stuff to death. I just have to keep reminding myself he knows NOTHING pregnancy etc and that I'm overly sensitive right now. Sigh. Needless to say, I'm taking the digital one tomorrow. AF was due today, so hopefully they'll be enough hcg in my urine to detect it tomorrow AM.

Trying to catch up on some QOTDs! Sorry if I miss some!
I'm a tax accountant at a large investment firm in Boston, MA. We live about an hour south of the city. I'm not currently on any medications, so I'm just taking my prenatal. DH will come to the "important" doctor's visits, but not all of them. I know that I'm going to be meeting with a nutritionist fairly early on, so he's coming to that appointment because he does most of the cooking/shopping.

Beth - I was feeling that way about my husband, too. Give him a week - a few more positive tests, a few psychotic crying episodes, and sleeping a good 14 hours out of the day will have him convinced.
The weekend after we got our BFP, I bought the book A Child is Born. It actually really helped DH take the early pg symptoms more seriously. The book is the most detailed I could find about what happens in early pregnancy. It is all so amazing - now, at just over five weeks, my little baby has a brain, a neural tube and a beating heart. No wonder I've been so freaking tired! The first eight weeks is really when all the action happens.
HolyCow - Welcome and congrats! :)

LOL, Michelle, while I'm sorry you felt this way too, I'm glad to hear someone else's husband had the same cautious reaction. My husband is usually on the wonderfully sweet and understanding side, so this reaction is really puzzling me. I know it is because he doesn't want to get his hopes up, and he doesn't want me to get my hopes up, if I'm not PG. I just bought him "My Boys Can Swim" and I'm hoping to give him that and the positive digi test tomorrow before we go to work ;)

catgirl1007 No, my cardiologist failed to mention that my heart would be racing the first trimester because of added blood flow. I can barely walk up the stairs without my heart going crazy if I am not on medication anyway, so this is not good news. :( I might need to make another appointment with him soon. Thanks for the info.

BethIrish- Sorry your dh isn't being supportive yet. I almost think it's something all men experience. I'm not so sure my dh thinks my current symptoms are valid but he supports me and feels sorry for me :D . I bought my dh "My Boys Can Swim" and he read it (at least most of it so far) and i think he rather enjoyed it. He even taught me a few things since that book does the entire pregnancy in like 92 pages. I haven't gotten past like week 12 in any of my books! Of course 92 pages vs 500 pages makes a big difference! He'll come around! Good luck on the digital test! I'm sure by now it will come back positive. If you are anything like me seeing "Pregnant" will still shock you no matter how many hpt's you've already taken. There's something so definite about it!
CONGRATULATIONS HolyCow!
Not much new for me. I am a little gassy and tired tired tired. A few pages back when we talked about tiredness vs. sleeplessness and i said i think both ends of the spectrum sucks... i was right :D Dh and i have already discussed going to bed at 8:00 tonight. I think he's still trying to catch up on sleep from the big bachelor party weekend in Chicago.
I am still counting the days and hours and minutes until my u/s on Friday. Dh is coming to that appointment and i can't wait to hear the heartbeat! Plus, i'd like a more accurate EDD. It's a span of about 6 days. I wasn't charting that month since we were going on vacation.
QUESTION: Paint Does anyone know about paint and pg? They are painting the hallway outside my office at night. This morning when i got here the smell was still overwhelming and it's trapped in the bathroom. I sincerely doubt with it being so cold outside that they opened any doors (no windows just a door at each end of the hall) to air the place out. I am concerned about my little tamale. Do you think the lingering paint smell/fumes would cause a problem?

Oh, I forgot to mention, my DH actually read some sections of Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy and that was really helpful. He found it amusing (it's written in a light-hearted style), so he was quite happy to read some parts. I found it more helpful for him than My Boys Can Swim, which I chucked across the room because it basically says that there are very few symptoms in the first trimester. Obviously written by a man. :)

Ilovemygeek ~ I'm sorry... I didn't mean to be the bearer of bad news. I just thought it'd be good to know so that it didn't frighten you if it does start racing. I'm not sure if it happens to all PG women, but it did with me last time. It was more of a nuisance type feeling than an "Oh my gosh is there something wrong??" type feeling - if that makes sense.
Painting & pregnancy ~ Water based paints are supposed to be safer than oil based paints. I called my OB's office to ask during my last pregnancy b/c we wanted to paint my DD's room. They said as long as it was water based and if it didn't make me feel sick, then it should be fine. I did end up painting her window sills and no harm was caused by that.

Wow! I sure missed a lot since Friday!!
Congrats to BethIrish, HolyCow and Jeggink!!!!!
Jeggink- So good to see another familiar face! It will be fun to share another pregnancy with you and Catgirl! So sorry about your m/c.
I'm getting jealous seeing everyone's u/s!! I have no idea if I'll have one next appointment or not?!? I think I will, but nothing was mentioned and I forgot to ask!
qotd- meds I don't really take any medications. I guess Tylenol once in a while, but I haven't yet this pregnancy. I guess before pg I did use Afrin (sp?) nose spray for my sinuses... but only once in a while. I think they recommend a saline spray while pregnant. I have some from last pg, but I think it's expired!!
qotd- s/o at appts DH didn't go to my first appt. He went hunting instead! :confused: I was a little disappointed, but I'm over it. During my first pregnancy DH went to every appointment until I started going weekly. Then we just couldn't schedule on weekends. Geez... I really have developed a bit of a "whatever" attitude with baby #2!! ;) First I forget to ask about an u/s, and now DH doesn't even come to my appointments!!! Oh my.

Hi ladies! I guess I'll de-lurk and join you guys. I've been a little hesitant to post here and acknowledge that I'm pregnant, but I figure that if something does go wrong I'll need some support, right? Anyway, all is well for now so here are my stats:

QsOTD:
My syptoms range from none to mild nausea, gas, sore boobs, and shortness of breath going up stairs. I've been drinking water like there's no tomorrow, but have yet to notice an increase in urination.
I hope not to need any medications during pregnancy. I'll be seeing my acupuncturist throughout, and have faith that she'll be able to take care of any ailments that come up. I do take daily medication for hypothyroidism.
I plan on my DH coming to my first appointment, the ultrasound appointment, and any others that he would like to attend. He also has to take me for all my bloodwork as I'm a fainter.
Here's a question for you: I had to deal with a trainee when I called to make my midwife appt. I think it was her first intake call ever. Anyway, I asked her what to expect at the first appointment and she said that we would be listening to the heartbeat. I'll be 5weeks 3days. Is it possible to hear a heartbeat that early? I assumed she just made a mistake...

Congratulations and welcome to HolyCow and CityGirl!
QOTD DH will come to the more important appointments - like the u/s on Friday, etc. It's hard for him to get away from work during the week, so I'll take what I can get!
Holy crap, I am so bloated today it's insane! Thank goodness for my lower rise pants - otherwise I have no idea what I'd be wearing. I got a one day reprieve from the sore bbs yesterday for whatever reason, but they are nice and sore again today. I had about 4 moments yesterday throughout the day where I thought my nausea was going to get the best of me. One was when I got on the elevator at work - a guy had just gotten off and the smell of his cologne that was left in the elevator almost sent me over the edge. :confused: Weird.
CityGirl Re: the heartbeat....I think the girl made a mistake, too. 5w3d is even a bit early to see the h/b let alone hear it. I think you can start hearing it around 10-12 weeks or so. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Don't worry, before you know it, you'll be hearing it beat away in a few weeks!

Just wanted to tell you guys I got a positive digital test this AM. It popped up almost immediately! I gave it and "My Boys can Swim" to DH this AM and he was finally, finally showing the excitement I wanted him to :) He was walking around the house with a huge smile on his face before we left for work...as I was leaving he gave me a kiss and patted me on the tummy and said "Have a good day at work, baby!"
Okay, I have to get to work. I didn't get home from work last night until almost midnight...Needless to say I feel like I've been hit by a truck! Hope you all have wonderful days!!!

CityGirl : At my first appt i was just shy of 5 weeks and my ob said it was too early to hear the heartbeat and to make an appointment to have an u/s and hear the heartbeat at 6-7 weeks. My appointment is this Friday at exactly 7 weeks. They are doing an internal u/s and will be able to hear the heartbeat. I guess it's possible they might be able to hear it at your appointment. I'm sure they will try since you are there :) Congratulations!

Congrats and welcome City Girl and Holy Cow!!!
Lilla--looking forward to your appointment Friday--it's amazing to see the hb!
Symptoms--so far sore bbs and indigestion/nausea at night (usually after I've eaten dinner, maybe I need to eat smaller portions) Almost got sick while brushing my teeth Monday night. I've also gotten to the feeling tired part. My NP said most symptoms start at 6-8 weeks, we'll see ;)

My NP said most symptoms start at 6-8 weeks, we'll see I swear as soon as I hit the 6 week mark all the symptoms started to kick it. I really could've done without them. Hopefully they only last a few weeks.
Hi everyone,
I'm lurking along for right now. It looks like I might be joining this group instead of the October thread. My cycles are out of whack (they last a really long time, last period was about 22 days) so it looks like I ovulated much later than I originally thought.
I went to see the NP last Monday at which time I thought I was 7 weeks. She checked my HcG and it came back 7,000 which is a little low for 7 weeks. She explained that because of long cycles and low-ish number she was going to send my for an ultrasound to date the pregnancy. We went for the ultrasound yesterday, and the tech said the baby was measuring 6 weeks, 5 days. We got to see the little heartbeat too.
So, I think I'm due November 2nd.

Welcome and Congratulations HolyCow and CityGirl!!!
For some reason I am still taking my temp every morning. I think it might be because I want continued proof that I am pregnant and my temp staying up does it for me. However, I am starting to get obsessive over the ups and downs of my temp. I am so paranoid that something is going to go wrong. If my temp starts to drop the least bit I see it as a sign that something is going wrong. I should probably put the thermometer away so I can stop driving myself crazy. I feel like this crazy paranoia isn't normal or is it?
QOTD- If you charted to TTC are you still taking your temp every morning or happy to be rid of the thermometer?

Ok I think I finally got updates done. :o
QOTDS....
Meds ~ I am still waiting for my primary to call back and let me know if they are going to fill a script for something for my migraines. I called them yesterday because my OB won't fill it until she sees me and the guy who answered the phone said they won't fill it because they don't do OB care. :rolleyes: :mad:
DH at appts ~ He will probably go to the u/s with me so we can find out what we are having but that is probably about it. We have done this before so its not really that big of a deal for him to be there.
Paint ~ When I was pg with DS my dr allowed me to paint as long as it was water based and in a well ventilated area. But I was also past 30 weeks at that time.

I'm happy to be rid of the thermometer. I did temp for a few days...but really, I knew I'd obsess over every little temp jump and dip (just like you are!) and I didn't want the added stress. Work is really stressful for me right now so I'm trying to minimize stess in my personal life!!! :o

Not necessarily pg related, but has anyone taken the "sleep test" for sleep apnea? I went to my dr. this morning (internist, not OB) and one of the things I talked to him about was my snoring - which I started doing while pg with DS over a year and a half ago & it hasn't stopped. DH is ready to move to the spare bedroom permanently!!! The dr. said sleep apnea (if I have it) can not only be dangerous to me, but to the baby - since he/she wouldn't be getting all of the oxygen he/she needs. So I have to go to a strange place and actually fall asleep while they monitor me! It seems so strange. Then again, I'm so tired lately, it might not be so hard. Just wondering if anyone else has done this.

QOTD: Temping VERY happy to be rid of the thermometer! No more temping until it time to have another baby :D
nic- Sorry your cycles were so crazy! BUT... CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME to the November Mommies Thread!
I had my first bout with nauseau earlier today. I had to get up and walk around and that helped move the gasses. I had a few nasty burps then felt a little bit better. I'm eating now to try so hopefully that will help! My boss said i could go home if i wanted but i told him i think this could be happening for another 7 + weeks so i better just stick it out! lol. Very nice of him though.

Just wondering if anyone else has done this. I was supposed to do this last month but it was the week I found out I was pg so I cancelled it. I am not looking forward to it but I suppose I will have to go through with it at some point because I feel like the little sleep I was getting is slowly disappearing. I will ask my OB about it on Monday and hopefully she will let me do it closer to home. It was scheduled at the University of Michigan which is over an hour from my house. Not that I want to do it but if it helps me sleep better and keeps my migraines under better control I am about willing to try anything.
Thanks for the welcome

Well, got a incredibly dark line, very quickly on a Dollar Tree test this morning. So I guess I'm ready to sign up. I'm in this weird place right now, part of me is a bit shocked that we're pregnant. And another part of me has suspected for a few days now that we might be.

Well, I just scheduled my OB appointment. I was kind of expecting them to not need to see me for a while, maybe sometime after 8 weeks. The next thing I know she's proposing a date of next week. I pushed for a later date and now have one scheduled for 4/5.
Lots of Questions to catch up on. Let me see what I can remember:
Meds: i take Synthroid daily and will continue to do so. (I think I saw at least two others on thyroid meds here when I was browsing through the thread.) I will have blood work done each trimester to evaluate my dosage. I am not overly cautious when it comes to meds - I will continue to take things to treat symptoms like Tylenol, tums, etc. If there's anything I question, I have DH look it up for me and evaluate the risks together.
DH at appointments: I can't imagine DH making it to many appointments. He didn't last time around. It's too tough with his work schedule. (Heck, all those appointments are tough with MY work schedule!) He did come to one or two "regular" appointments and my OB made sure to do an U/S at one and at least a doppler check at the other. He, of course, came to the "big" ultrasound at 20 weeks or so.
Painting & Pgcy: I painted DD's nursey when pg and painted some furniture as well. I just made sure to use water based paint and any time the fumes started making me feel iffy, I just left the room. The bigger risk, I've heard, isn't the fumes, but falling. So DH did most of the painting that involved reaching while on a ladder.
Symptoms: Nothing too major, yet. I'm tired. But in all honesty, I can't remember the last time in in the past three or so years since I got pg w/ DD that I wasn't tired. I'm retaining some water - my clothes fit OK, but I can't get my engagement ring on without practically crying. I've got body aches and back pain. Add in a little crampiness, gas, headaches and mild heartburn. Oh yeah, and my skin's gotten crappy already. It sounds like a lot when I list it all out, but it's really not bad at all. I didn't feel too bad this early last time either. So, I'm really just waiting for the real ickiness and tiredness to start in the next month or so.
Looking forward to following along with you all!

Welcome nic and lisariv!
BethIrish- I think I am going to have to put the thermometer away. It is good to know that other people would obsess like I have. At least I feel a little more normal now.:D
katnbug- I have never had to do a sleep study, but know some people that have. I hope when you do have it done that it goes smoothly. I know it would be difficult for me to fall asleep if I knew people were monitoring me.
ellidew- I hope that one wave of nauseau was it for you. I am hoping to escape morning/noon/night sickness. I have heard that most people get hit with it around 6 weeks. I am leaving for a conference the day I hit 6 weeks and I really hope I am not hit with nauseau while on a plane to California!
Have a great hump day everyone!

This baby was conceived with our first IVF, after a long, long walk down the infertility highway. DH and I are excited but nervous at the same time, as we're so used to bad news.
I had my first ultrasound Friday of last week, at 6 weeks, and we were lucky enough to see the heart beat, 130 bpm. I have my first OB appointment on 3/29, but am having another ultrasound with my OB on 3/22. In the mean time I still visit my RE for blood tests - I am weaning off my medications (progesterone in oil, estrogen patches and progesterone vaginal gel).
So far, very, very few symptoms. I've been pretty tired in the evenings, but nothing terrible. If I let myself get hungry during the day I feel a little queasy but if I don't let myself get an attack of the hungries (by basically snacking non-stop), I feel fine. BBs feel fine. I'm bloated and only fit into 3 pairs of work pants and 1 work skirt (which makes dressing for work very annoying!), but I think that has more to do with my still huge ovaries than baby belly.

lisainpink We are due date buddies! Looks like you tested pretty early, too ;)
So glad we're all here to enjoy the ride together!
New QOTD What are you ladies snacking on? I need some healthy snack ideas! Anything sweet (besides fruit) is NOT appealing to me (including yogurt and granola/bars.) I need to hit the grocery store this weekend...I've been to tired every day this week after work :o

Wow, I'm so happy to see so many November mommies! Welcome, citygirl, nic, lisariv, lisainpink, and kemorr!
QOTD: Snacks
Bananas, graham crackers, yogurt, PB&J, whole wheat English muffins, Dole juices (like peach, orange, mango - yum). I think I'm the opposite of Beth - I usually want sweet stuff. Bananas and yogurt really calm my tummy.
QOTD: Temping
I actually stopped temping a few days after I had confirmed ovulation.
I had a scare today. I'll share it since you guys will understand, and since ellidew assured me there is no such thing as TMI in this thread. ;) I went to the bathroom and saw bright red blood on the TP. I was terrified. Upon further investigation, it appeared to be coming from somewhere a bit further back. I guess I have butt issues. I was sooooo relieved. I've been checking obsessively all evening and haven't seen any more blood. It was so frightening, though. My heart was pounding.

Holy Cow!! Look at all the newcomers. Welcome!!! I will get stats added sometime soon. With all these people I may have to have someone co-mistress the thread with me soon. :D
QOTD Snacks ~ I just went and bought a ton of fruit. I have noticed more of a sweet craving than anything else. And strawberry shakes from McDonalds. :rolleyes:
And just because its been brought up we all have to agree here and now that there won't be anything that is TMI. We will be going through a LOT together over the next 7/8 months. So there is no such thing as TMI anymore. K?? Good. ;) :D

I had a tiny bit of light brown spotting along with some cramping today, which is of course making me nervous. I'm pretty sure that's normal, right?
QOTD-
Temping- I'm still temping, though I just reached my "official" 18 days of high temps yesterday, I think. I think I'll keep temping till my midwife appointment and some betas next week, as it tends to make me feel better. Then I'll happily put the thermometer away.
Snacks- I'm glad this question was asked as I think I'll be needing some more snack ideas. The nausea hasn't kicked in yet so I'm not too picky. I like yogurt, cheese, almonds (salted or covered in cinnimon), hummus with carrots or crackers, vitamin water. I'm really excited to meet with my midwife as she talks a lot about nutrition.
BethIrish

Michelle That's happened to me already, too. I'm going to pick up some fiber stuff when I hit the grocery store today. I think that will help. :o
The not craving sweets thing is really throwing me off. I *Love* desserts, sweets, chocolates, ice cream....and NONE of it sounds appealing to me right now. Honestly, broccoli and ranch dip sounds good to me!! I think when I go to the store today I'm going to get veggies and dip, fruit and some nuts.
I took today off from work. We had a filing deadline yesterday and I am just exhausted. My office is also moving at the end of the month and tomorrow is a clean up day. I needed a mental health day/ napping day today! :) I'm going to call my doctor today and set up the first appointment, too!

WOW, busy for a few days and look at all the activity!
Welcome citygirl, nic, lisariv, lisainpink, and kemorr!
Paint I did a lot of painting with DS when I was in the 2nd and 3rd in his room. I even did sponge painting and didn't think anything of it. It was latex and the windows were open. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it to much, just take the normal precautions :).
snacks I am actually not to nausious yet, starting to get some in the evening, but I find I am not that hungry at any time and not eating much period. I love gummy stuff right now though. DH got me some fruit gummies and I have been munching on those.
Temping Stopped 2 days after my BFP.
katnbug Hey, it will be nice to all be part of the thread again :). About the sleep apnea, my dad had to do that. I guess he had to sleep in a bed in a room with some electrode thingies on him. In the morning he got up and went home. My dad did have sleep apnea pretty bad and now has to have an forced air system next to his bed that pushes air into his nose at night. It allows him to continue breathing and no more snoring :). I know my dad is a lot more rested now.
So add me to the people who are having sleep problems. I keep waking up a ton at night, very unusual for me. I am also having difficulty falling asleep, but am wide awake at work. I actually have more energy that I normally do. This is very different from pg #1, I was very tired all the time. I keep waiting for it to hit, which I am sure it will in a week or two :rolleyes: . We are going away for the weekend so hope everyone has a great one!

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
snacks Nothing too out of the ordinary now. Last time around, I did lots of fruit and animal crackers. Frequent snacking was key for me keeping the yuckies at bay.
And for those having fiber problems - I'll just warn you, that you might want to get in the habit of increasing the fiber in your diet, (or taking a supplement). Things will probably only get worse as you get further along in your pregnancy. And if things do get worse, consider backing off the constipating foods like bananas, cheese, nuts... (Too bad since those are great foods during pregnancy.)

Wow! Look at all the new mommies!! Welcome to citygirl, nic, lisariv, lisainpink, and kemorr! :) :D
QOTD snacks ~ I had gestational diabetes with my DD so I'm already on a diabetic diet. My snacks include: almonds, sunflower seeds, bananas (I can't type that word without thinking of Hollaback Girl - LOL!), apples, and oatmeal cookies. Basically anything high protein & fiber, and low sugar & carbs. Although I have cheated a couple of times and have had frozen custard from Culver's. :)
I have full blown morning sickness and it sucks. It hit Monday evening. Since then I've been nauseous all day long, dry heaving in the mornings & evenings, and vomited just a little bit each day. I'm going to make an acupuncture appt to hopefully keep this at bay.
kadee ~ Strawberry shortcake sounds delicious!!!
ETA: Speaking of McD's bfast sandwiches... Sausage McGriddles are the best!!

Welcome lisariv, lisainpink, and kemorr!
qotd snacking- I bought some of the Wheat Thin crisps (and some cheese dip :rolleyes: ). Silly thing is that I don't like regular Wheat Thins... the crisp ones are ok though. I'm on a mission not to gain as much weight as with pg #1, so I'm trying not to snack too much!!
citygirl- I think the brown spotting is pretty normal. I didn't experience any, but have heard many who have. I think if it continues for a few days that you may want to call your ob.
jeggink- Those sleep-air machines look very uncomfortable! But I hear they're not too bad. The whole idea of sleeping in a strange place while hooked up to wires is weird. But... since I woke up this morning and DH had moved to the spare room AGAIN I guess I owe it to him!! :D

The receptionist was soooooo very nice. Apparently, she must speak to a lot of nervous, first times Moms ;) Also, and this reallllllly excited me....I will get an ultrasound! Not that day, but I will schedule it that day so they can look and make sure everything is okay. :) I want to see what is going on in there and I DON'T want to wait until the 20 week one!

I had potato casserole for breakfast a couple days ago! It's what sounded good. I had a McD's breakfast sandwich yesterday and it was the only day i've felt sick so they may be off limits for me from here on out :)
QOTD: Snacks For the last couple of days i've had string cheese in the morning, strawberries and red grapes with cool whip in the afternoon. I eat the fruit in the afternoon because i feel the most acidy then and it seems to help settle the feeling. Although lisainpink's suggestion of tortilla chips and salsa is making my mouth water! Now i want that and whoever suggested broccoli and ranch dip. I am SO easily influenced these days. Someone suggests something and i want it!
I seriously have to get the eating under control and i've started today. Before my BFP i was on LA Weight Loss and lost 35 pounds so i was on a very strict diet. Then i got my BFP and kind of went crazy. That coupled with my body not being used to food like i've been eating i think i've gained like 5 lbs already! I know its partly because my diet was so controlled before but i'm going to go back to eating good and hopefully get the gaining thing under control. Anyone else have a similar problem?
WELCOME to all the new mommies to be! Congratulations!
Congrats on your first appt BethIrish!

Wow!! Look at all the new November mommies! I'm so excited that our thread is growing so much! Welcome!!!
QOTD I always need to eat something mid-morning to keep my nausea at bay. I usually try to have string cheese, yogurt or almonds around to snack on. I'm very surprised that I haven't been craving anything sweet at all. I am a dessert freak and nothing sweet sounds very good right now. Lastnight I had a bowl of ice cream (normally my weakness) and I found myself not really enjoying it. Pregnancy sure does weird things, huh?
I don't feel quite as bloated today for once, which is good. I've been trying to be really good about drinking water, so maybe that is helping. I also had a dream lastnight that we went to our u/s tomorrow and saw a strong flickering little heartbeat. Gee, I'm not subconsciously obsessing over this or anything, huh? :rolleyes:
Question for you ladies - kind of related to the QOTD. Are there any foods that you are totally adverse to right now? For me, it's chicken. Whenever DH suggests chicken for dinner, my stomach turns. Ordinarily I love chicken.
ellidew
03-16-2006, 10:05 AM
Lilla- I hear ya on the dreams. I've had a dream every couple of nights that i started spotting. I totally fear it happening and i am taking that obsession over to dreamland with me :) Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. Mines at 11:45 and dh is coming with me. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat and see my little tamale! lol. The look on dh's face when he realizes what i have to do when i go to the OB could very well be priceless as well.
Anyone else worried their dh wont be able to look at them the same after this is all over?
QOTD: Food Adversion Not yet. I don't eat meat or fish though so my options are already limited.

ellidew-yes, I'm a little worried DH will look at me different. I'm a little nervous of what he'll see during delivery.
I know so many women worry about pooping dueing labor and then they say when the time comes they don't even care but at this point, I don't know how that's possible.
jeggink

Welcome Sare79
Lilla My dreams aren't of that nature, but very vivid. I had it with DS as well, something to look forward to ;)
nic Nice outfits!
QOTD no aversions yet. I never got rid of my fish aversion from DS though.
katnbug Yeah my mom was sooo happy once the machine came in, she also started sleeping better. I guess my dad said you get used to it pretty quickly.
ellidew My DH saw the entire labor, held up my leg and was looking at DS come out while telling me to push. He was so not planning on doing this, it just happened. Our sex life is perfectly fine, and he does not look at me differently. When I did complain of some soreness in the beginning, he did understand, afterall he saw what happened down there :p . But some DH's are different, just what happened for us. I never did poop on the table, but the nurses don't really care and trust me, you won't care either. At that point you are in pain, have been in labor, are exhausted and just want to get the baby out no matter what happens :D
ellidew

Thanks for the reassurance. Personally, i'm okay with anything that happens in the delivery room. Like i said before, i think modesty has been thrown out the window! :p My sister on the otherhand (due with her 1st in July is still freaking out about it!)
I hope my dh can be as supportive as yours was jeggink. At this point i think he's on the fence about seeing the actual delivery but when the time comes you never know. He's been incredibly supportive up to this point. I think i have the best husband in the whole world... although i'm willing to bet a couple of you have the same title for your dh's.

Aaaa!!! Congratulations, Sarah! I'm so happy to see you here. :)
Queasy day today. I had to drive 40 miles first thing for work and had to pull over twice. No puking, but I was completely nauseated and shaking and sweating like I was going to lose it.
ellidew - I think DH will be okay with me, but I'm afraid I won't be the same down there. That it will hurt or be all stretched out for a long time after birth.
nic - Nice Ebay find! I'm really starting to get into Ebay.

Welcome lisainpink, kemorr, Sare79!!!
QOTD Snacks - While at work I usually have chewy granola bar and have been bringing some fruit to work with me too. I am trying to keep the snacks somewhat healthy. At home I snack on Cheez-Its and Sesame sticks. I am addicted to Cheez-Its for some reason.
QOTD Adversions - I kind of have an aversion to anything greasy like greasy pizza (makes my stomach turn even mentioning it). That is about it though.
QOTD - DH looking at me the same - I am not too worried about this. I have no modesty when it comes to my DH. He says he doesn't want to see the actual birth and plans to stay by my head. I have a feeling that he will change his mind in the moment though.
ellidew- I lost about 20 pounds on weight watchers and I have been trying to be careful about what I am eating. That hasn't always been the case, but I try to keep it in mind. I have been so bloated though and it is killing me. My weight has stayed about 4 pounds above what I was before my BFP. I guess it is just something to get used to. I know I am going to gain weight so I am just trying to focus on doing it slowly and eating the right foods...hopefully that plan will work out.:p

It still feels very unreal for me. I don't have any symptoms except for slight twinges in my stomach. No nausea yet. Did anyone else take numerous HPTs?
I made my first doctor's appointment this morning for March 31st for general bloodwork but they didn't mention a u/s. Is that fairly common? Can I request one at my appointment?
Sare79

Just wanted to add that my first doctor's appointment is on Monday March 20.
Something I have noticed in the last week that has been so embarassing- I have minor dust allergies and almost every morning that I come into work I sneeze a few times in the first hour. I have been really gassy and I actually pass gas when I sneeze! :o
Last night was really sweet- when I got home my DH said "Hi Sare, hi Wee One!" and kissed my belly and then my face.
I hate to bring it down but I have a few worries...
QOTD: Is anyone else aware of genetic diseases that they will have to test for?
My dad passed on a genetic disease to me and if we have a son, he has a 50% chance of having it. Needless to say, we are praying for a girl. If we have a boy and he has it, then we will just be prepared, but idealy, we want the healthiest child possible. We will be finding out the gender and doing the genetic testing/amnio ASAP.

Welcome Sare & Lilo!
Lilo-:) You're EDD is my birthday!!! :D
I've only taken 3 hpt's this time around - with DS I took 5. I finally threw all of those out except for the first bfp I got!
Sare-The only genetic tests I took was for cystic fibrosis. I took it with my first pregnancy and don't have to do it again since I didn't have the gene.
Oh, and the gassy thing?? It goes away! I had it BAAAAAAD for the first few weeks!! :rolleyes:
qotd DH looking at me the same. Whith my first pg, DH was never planning on being down there watching etc... he's very queasy. We ended up having a c-section. Now, I'll probably have another c-section with this baby, so I guess I don't have to worry about DH!
Like jeggink said, you're so into the moment that nothing will concern you other than getting that baby out ASAP!

Well ladies, I'm off for a weekend of "wine tasting" with 25 of our closest friends and family. Dh and I have been working on diversionary tactics, as we don't plan on telling anyone we are pregnant for a while. Though I must say he completely failed last night when I asked him (in front of his parents) to fix me a vodka and soda. He was supposed to know this was code to make me a glass of soda water, ice, and fresh lime. Instead he freaked out, pulled me into another room, and asked if something was wrong and had I gotten my period today. :rolleyes: I'll let you know how it goes. At least there will be a ton of good food to distract me from the fact that I'm the only one not drinking.
QOTD: I'm not at all worried about DH seeing me differently. In fact, he better get a good close look at what I'm going through. I'm planning a waterbirth, and DH totally plans on being there for every second. He may even catch the baby. He has, however, drawn the line at getting in the tub with me with all the blood and "stuff" in there. We'll see what happens when the time comes. ;)
Good Luck at the "wine-tasting, City Girl. I think that would be torture for me. I really love wine and while I haven't missed having any, I think that would be a tough situation.
What's everyone else doing this weekend?
We don't have any plans tonight. Tomorrow we're meeting my family for lunh at the Rainforest Cafe. My BIL and nieces don't know about the baby yet so I'm going to bring the ultrasound picture and give it to my neices and see how long it takes them to figure out what it is. They're 13, 12 and 7 so I'll probably have to tell them!
Sunday is our relaxing, food shopping, watching lots of tv day.

Not too much going on for us this weekend....tonight I'm on my own (DH has a gig - he plays in a jazz band) so I think I'm going to watch a movie and (hopefully) fall asleep early. Tomorrow I am meeting some girlfriends for lunch and then I'm going to head to the mall to buy some pants w/stretchier waistbands :o Sunday DH and I are going to just relax.
Speaking of sleep...my sleep pattern is totally messed up. I'm exhausted, but I can't fall asleep at night. Once I am asleep, I wake up a few times a night. Sigh. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I am the same way, I haven't had a good night's sleep in a couple of weeks. Not fun at all.
Congratulations and welcome Roberta!

Hi mamas. I'd like to join this thread. My pregnancy was a surprise, so I'm still feeling a bit in shock, not quite believing it, yet very excited. I had my first doc appt last week 3/10 and next week on Tues 3/21 I'm going for an internal ultrasound. I hope to hear the heartbeat and put some of my nerves to rest.

Beth - I think we're on the same wavelength regarding pg symptoms. I have been having this problem. The only way I found to deal with it is to try and avoid naps (I know, hard to do) and go to bed at least 10 hours before I have to get up. No naps makes it easier to fall asleep and allowing for 10 hours helps me out if I end up waking up at night and laying there for an hour before falling asleep again.
Roberta - Welcome! :) I see that you have an Australian shepherd as well. I have two Aussies.
citygirl - We were invited wine tasting this weekend, but since we've not been keeping things quiet, DH just told our friends why it wouldn't be a good idea. I'll miss it for the next few months! I suppose during the third tri I could go and spit out the wine, since people do that, but I'd feel weird being all big and pregnant with a wine glass.
I've done some reading on it, and while I'm not going to drink at all while pg, I think I'm going to be pretty laid back about drinking wine while breastfeeding. Obviously not getting tipsy, but a glass or two should be fine. The amount of alcohol that gets into the milk is tiny compared to the amount of alcohol that would get through to a fetus.
ppwgal - Congratulations on your big surprise! :D

Kadee -
Did anyone else volunteer to be a thread co-mistress? If not, I'd be happy to help. I've never been a thread mistress before, so let me know what I need to do. :)

I haven’t been able to get on here since early yesterday morning and the thread goes wild. Welcome to all the new mommies. I will get stats updated in just a few minutes. I am trying to remember everything I read and can’t remember who said what so please forgive me.
I know someone mentioned delivery. The last thing on your mind is going to be what comes out of your body while pushing. Well except the baby of course. ;) The nurses will keep changing the pads underneath you because of the blood. They are used to it. The first thing they say about pushing is to push like you are having “a bowel movement”.
My DH also watched both our kids being born. And he's usually pretty grossed out by the thought of watching. He was very understanding about the pain afterwards and understood I went through hell to get our child(ren) out of me. Especially my DS who was born posterior.
mimieliza ~ No you are the only one to volunteer. I will send you a PM and give you the details. :) Thank you bunches for offering to help.

Wow! We really grew in the last few hours!
WELCOME & CONGRATS lilo, roberta, and ppwgal!
Dh and i went to the doctor today and saw tamales heartbeat! :D :D :D We did an ultrasound and the doctor moved our EDD to Nov 7. I think that's too late since we didn't bd the 5 days before it but whatever :p
Here's our little tamale. It's the blob with the cursors on each side. I'll post a better picture on monday when i am at work. At home the only way to remove my name and the doctors name was to crop the photo.

Nothin' but a splotch! lol. Our next appt (the doctor said we will listen to the heartbeat with the doppler) is on April 21. I have to admit... i am a lot calmer and less worried now than i was going in. I know someone else said that after you see the hb the chance of mc goes WAY down and my doctor said the same thing. He told me that there's still a chance but once you see that there is a hb it's a smaller chance. That made me feel 100 x's better!
QOTD: Weekend Plans I don't have any big w/e plans. I need to find something to wear to a wedding next weekend and my mom is leaving to visit my sister in Morocco on Sunday so i have to pick some things up to send to her and my nieces. Other than that dh will be working on the basement. We are a little over 1/2 way finished with the project. I think he'll be painting... so i won't be helping ;)
QOTD: Genetic testing Nothing in either of our families to worry about and my cystic fibrosis test came back negative. Hopefully we end up with a happy and healthy baby.
WOW! Look at all of the new mommas! Congrats to all of the new comers! :D
Snacks- I am all about graham crackers, granola bars, cereal and fruit. I am tending toward the sweets.
I had a terrible eating day today. I started off great. Bowl of cereal for breakfast, cup of yogurt for a snack, mozzarella on whole wheat grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. And then I had a deposition that started at 1:00 and did not end until almost five. I was dying! To make it all worse, no one did the shopping for our office, so the only thing we had to drink was regular coke. No diet, no water, no nothing else! And then someone came in a dumped a bunch of candy on the counter in the kitchen. I had to pop out of the dep a few times, and each time ended up snacking on candy bc I was starving, it was there, and it was easy.
Now I am paying the price. :(
I am having a hard time adjusting to the gaining weight/bloat thing. In fact, I can't tell which one it is right now. Today I had to safety pin a pair of pants (they aren't low rise...I have to wear suits, and very few suits have low rise pants) and it really hit the old self esteem hard.
I hear from all of my friends how they did not outgrow their regular clothes until the 3rd or 4th month, and here I am, a week shy of my 2nd month, and I can't button my pants.
And there are no transition suits...so I either have to keep buying another size up until I am in full maternity, or go without...which really isn't an option. And maternity suits are ridiculously priced!
Sorry, just needed to vent about feeling fat and frumpy, and being really aggravated at trying to get dressed every morning.

Goodness, this is a long thread to come in late to the party on...
To catch up on my QOTD's-
Telling people - when and how?
Already told a ton of people. Last time I waited until I HAD to tell people. I was so green-looking from nausea that people were worried I had a disease or something.
Anyone have any cravings yet?
Not yet. Didn't really have any last time, though.
Have you bought anything baby related yet?
Well, nothing yet for this baby...but I just found out last night.
What is your job?
I'm an Assistant District Attorney.
Ravenously hungry?
YES! And I plan on eating like a HORSE until the nausea and heartburn kick in!! :D
Constantly Thirsty?
Yes, but I also have a cold, so that might have something to do with it.
Twins?
Lord, I hope not. Twins are really cute, and I bet I'd love 'em, but the idea of having two to get up for in the dead of night really scares me.
This is my little one, Susannah Jane, and her daddy:
http://images.snapfish.com/3465878%3C3%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D3238%3E942%3E5%3B9%3EWS NRCG%3D3233544648%3C36nu0mrj
I already feel bad for my little bug - I think she's gonna be seriously pissed off at the baby until the baby proves to be a worthwhile companion.. I would be if I were in her shoes.. We were really planning on trying next fall and having a baby in June 2008, so this is quite a bit earlier than we expected. I was trying to avoid using a computer program, but I mistook some spotting for a period, which threw my calculations off. By the time I realized my mistake and corrected it, we had already fooled around too close to ovulation. I took an ovulation test two days after we fooled around, which was negative, but the one I took the next day was positive. I thought I could squeak by, but apparently there is such a thing as cutting it too close.
Yesterday morning I was on my third day of eating everything that didn't actually run away from me. I was having leftover chinese dumplings in the fridge at work, along with peanut m&m's (this was at 9am, after having eaten a full breakfast at home) when my girlfriends started laughing at me and asking me if I was pregnant. I thought, hmmm.. I'm a day late. And I'm usually pretty regular. But I've been tussling with the old man over some division of household labor issues, so I thought the late period was due to stress. But I was having SUCH a tough time staying awake on the commute home that I stopped by the pharmacy and bought some tests. I tried one as soon as I got home, just positive that I would see the negative indicator and saw the plus sign in about 2.2 seconds. DH is pretty happy, but I think it's due in large part to the confirmation of the durable nature of his sperm.. :rolleyes:
So anyway, getting happier and happier about being here...
Did want to say, Kyrsten same thing happened to me last time - could NOT fit into my pants at six weeks and really was thinking this whole thing is just ridiculous, but a couple of weeks later it went away and I was able to fit comfortably into my pants again until about 5 1/2 mos. or so. So don't fret just yet!! But by all means, go visit the maternity store and pick yourself up some comfy stretchy cotton waistband pants. I have some pieces that I've kept wearing consistently after Susie was born. They're great, they're comfy, and nobody has to know they're maternity unless I tell 'em!

Wow, it's so exciting to see the numbers grow! I can't wait until the 11/30 kids start showing up, since that's MY b-day. :p
There's been so much action in here that I don't know what to respond to so I'll just toss some things out there...
Snacks: I've been bringing Whole Wheat Saltines with me everywhere and I toss one in if I start to feel wierd. I wouldn't say I've really felt nauseous yet but there are times when I feel strange or burpy like I might accidentally puke if I burped too violently. That might sound odd, but that's the best way I can explain it.
Pooping on the delivery table: I've been terrified of this since long before I got a BFP. I've polled my friends and some of them said they planned ahead and were able to go potty ahead of time and avoid it. Others said it just happens and you get over it. DH and I are pretty open with each other but we definitely close the bathroom door when pooping is going on so I'd really like to avoid that if possible!
Sleeping: The first night I found out, I had trouble sleeping, but I think it was more my mind racing than a symptom. Since then, I've been sleeping LIKE THE DEAD. I've been sleeping through my phone ringing, our cat puking, all sorts of things that would normally wake me up. This morning I didn't have to get up until 9am and when the alarm went off, I could've sworn it was 6am I was SO asleep.
Oh! And I made my first doctor's appointment for 4/10 (I get a U/S - yay!). I'll be 8w3d at that point so I guess we could hear the heartbeat, but the doc says that will happen at the second appointment at around 11w. I'm excited to have a pic to show, though. :D

A little background- We had an early (6 week) mc in November after our first try. Like I was pg in the mroning and not pg that night.
Also DH started a new job on Monday in Minneapolis. I am still here in NY waiting for the house to sell/buy a new house. Our past week looked like this: Sunday- DH "moves" to Minneapolis. Monday- DH starts new job at new company. Wednesday- Receive and accept offer on NY house. Thursday- +HPTs We are PG! It has been a crazy week!
Telling people - when and how?
Shhhh... Don't tell DH but I have already told people. He wants to "keep it undercover until we confirm things at the dr's appointment" I explained to him that the dr will use a urine test exactly like the ones I have been using.:rolleyes: I think he is nervous that this won't stick. I also have a feeling he is really distracted with the new job/house selling and buying. He is not here with me and it may not be real to him yet.
Anyone have any cravings yet?
Mac 'n cheese. Veggies. very thirsty.
Have you bought anything baby related yet?
I tried to buy an infant sized onsie that said Ohio State (Dh's favorite team) but the one I ordered is now out of stock. I might look for something this weekend to give him when he come home next weekend.
What is your job?
I am a case manager for autistic children at a residential school. I will not be working after I quit my job at the begining of May to move to MN. We have planned for me to SAH for a long time.
Ravenously hungry?
No, suprisingly. I want smaller meals with no meat.
sleeping?
like a log. I have the whole bed to myself. I took my first nap after work today. I heart sleep.
Twins?
uh, one baby is enough for now.
Labor and delivery/ pooping on the table?
DH watched his sister's birth when he was five and remembers it pretty well. I am not too embarassed by anything he might see during delivery. We are pretty open about most stuff. And if I am going to give birth, the least he can do is hold my hand. Hope he is on the same page.
genetic testing?
I am not aware of any genetic diseases that we can test for right now. I have a family history of Down's Syndrome, but I don't know that I will test.
