Is there a great website which outlines introducing solids? We went over it with Ped today, but would like it in writing. Thanks!

I found the site and saw the recipes for cereal. I do want to feed my DS only whole grains and the site suggests buying oats or barley etc and grinding them. I'm not sure about the measurement. Do you measure before or after grinding? Also I always buy organic whole oat and whole spelt flour because I bake with it. Could I just use that to make his cereal instead of grinding my own? Has anyone tried this?

dragonfly, there's a section in the super baby food book about making your own cereal. I never tried it because I see the primary benefit of cereal being the iron, and when you make your own there isn't any iron in it (other than what's naturally ocurring, which I don't think is any/much). I buy whole grain organic baby cereal at the health food store. You may want to get the super baby food book or check it out from the library.

I'll check that out! What brand cereal do you buy?

I buy the healthy times oatmeal. I like that brand because it's the only organic one I found that has vitamin C added, which aids in the absorption of the iron. My DD prefers oatmeal to rice cereal. We have also used Earth's Best but that one does not have added vitamin C. I mix it into my DD's yogurt every morning for breakfast. Before she ate yogurt, I mixed it with ebm.
