My dog appears to be having accidents on our bed- exactly where he sleeps. Large amts of liquid that are colorless and odorless. Almost as if you poured water on the bed. There is a lot of liquid. We caught him licking it tonight.
Anyone have any clues as to what it is? We asked the vet but got blown off.
We are very frustrated by this. Esp since it is the middle of our bed and right at bedtime the past 2 nights! He has done this 2 other times about 4 months ago.
Thanks.

Our dog did this once out of the blue, I don't know if we just didn't wake up and she needed to go or what happened but it soaked through our duvet cover, down comforter, blanket, sheet, etc. I don't really have any suggestions except that we immediately washed everything on the bed and she's never done it again. She always ends up in bed with us at night and we haven't had the problem again. Of course I am a very light sleeper so its usually not an issue if she needs to let me know she needs to go out.
Is this happening at night? We take our dogs water away about 30 minutes before bed. That might help?? Good luck.

It happens aroun 8 pm normally after he has gone out. After spending 1/2 the night on the internet we are thinking he is vomiting water. I just don't know why. We have washed everythng every night just because we don't know what it is. Poor little guy.
Thanks! Keep the ideas coming

Do you have a fenced yard, does he got out by himself? Maybe he's getting into something? Or do you give him rawhides, maybe he's ingesting pieces too large? Or maybe its just the jumping up on the bed upsetting his stomach? Good luck, that stinks when you can't find a solution.

If your vet blows you off about what could be a health concern, I'd get a new vet. I don't think that's acceptable.

Sounds like vomit to me. Our dog drinks too much (or too fast) sometimes and ends up throwing up the water. It doesn't smell but there's lots of it.

This might be a silly idea, but I'll throw it out anyway.
Is there any way it could be drool???
We have a lab, and she drools CONSTANTLY. She can leave a fist-sized mark on a bedspread in about 5 seconds! If your dog is a big drooler, and a very heavy sleeper (ie, stays in same spot so drool would soak in at that area) then perhaps that's the reason?
Otherwise, I would say maybe she has a bit of a bladder problem? The other thing our lab has is a weak bladder (we call her our "leaky puppy"). My MIL thinks it's from when we got her fixed, that she got touched or something in the wrong spot. . . . kinda like how some women are after they have babies? So maybe it's just a little pee slipping out--enough that it soaks in, but since she'd all ready been out, not the potent smelling kind?
Good luck!

My dog LOVES licking the bed or pillows. For long periods of time. He licks and licks and licks, and pretty soon there's an enormous wet spot. At first we were mysitfied, since, like you said, it was colorless and odorless. And then we caught him in the act.
Not sure about your dog's vomit, but ours is colorless and odorless too, except it has a runny-mucous texture, like egg white, (sorry, I know it's gross) instead of a watery texture.
Could it be drool, like MidwesternGal said? Or licking?
