View Full Version : Am I being a brat? re: Bridal Shower

When talks of my Bridal Shower came up, the first thing I told my MOH was that I didn't want it to be a surprise. I wanted to be involved and help out even, if they could use me. I told her I wanted a lingerie shower and suggested some catchy invite wordings I found on the other site.
Well, so far my BMs have all been tight lipped about the shower. My FMIL is hosting it at her house and she won't tell me anything either. I feel like a brat saying "I want to know what's going on!!" and I realize it's fun to have some surprises, but this is what I specifically asked NOT to happen.
(I had a bad experience with a surprise party for my 16th b-day and have some very sad and upsetting memories from it that still haunt me....)

Don't take this totally wrong, but a shower isn't a given and I think that it's nice for your BM'S to throw you one!! Also depending on who would be invited to this shower (flower girls, other children) a lingerie shower may not be appropriate. IMO a lingerie shower would be more suited to a girls night out than the shower that FMIL and Aunt "Rose" will be at. The only thing I can understand you wanting to know is where you have to be and at what time. You don't want them to show up and pick you up while you are cleaning your house!! But other than that, enjoy that you can go and be the guest of honor without having to do any planning or work! Trust me, you are going to be going crazy in the weeks leading up to your wedding that this will be a nice treat for you, if you allow it to be! Good Luck!

I agree with eli..this is the one thing during this whole wedding that your BM's have a hand in planning. It's also one thing you DON'T need to worry about. With things getting so close to the wedding, I'm sure youre stressing about all the details and everything, so sit back and enjoy being the center of attention and being lavished by people who love and care for you. I would tell your friend about whatever happened at your 16th birthday, and just make sure she knows not to let things go down that path, otherwise--sit back and be pampered!! Good luck and have fun!!

Heehee...oh totally, I understand. However there are no flower-girls or young kids in my wedding, nor will be present at the shower. They *did* atleast let me make a guestlist, so I know who will be there.
My friends and family are all pretty liberal and so a lingerie shower is completely appropriate given the people who will be there.
You're both right. I just need to sit back and relax and let myself be spoiled. It's just hard when you turn into crazy-bride stage and *need* to know everything going on, LOL. I can't wait for this all to be over and I can back to being normal Sarah ;)

Everything will go by so fast you won't regret your decision to relax and enjoy the shower :) I just celebrated my 1 year anniversay and I remember thinking in the days after all the wedding hoopla was over "I can't believe it's over!" Enjoy!
