California woman, 62, gives birth to 12th child (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11451753/).

REDDING, Calif. - A 62-year-old great-grandmother has become one of the oldest women in the world to successfully give birth.

The healthy six-pound, nine-ounce baby boy is the 12th child born to Janise Wulf, who also has 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her oldest child is 40.

The article goes on to say that this is the couple's 2nd child in 4 years.

I'm all for reproductive technology, but I have to question if this is the best use of it. I'm surprised (should I be?) that a doctor would agree to this.

I can't even begin to imagine how hard it will be for that child growing up having such old parents. It's quite sad actually :(

wow.

so lemme get this straight... mom has great-grandkids. that means that this baby boy is now a great-uncle to someone? or would that be a great-great uncle? something like that?

i have that "i am my own grandpa" song in my head now...

The parents (plural) aren't actually so old... Although the mom is 62, the dad is only 48.

Why? Why does she have to have 12 kids--and she used IVF to have this one. Why? I just don't get it
