I'm joining in - I was princessaimee over on theknot - didn't realize you posted over on WC, too! Good to see you!
I dunno if we're leaving. We've got rooms in Houston, but I'm studying for the bar exam, and, frankly, it'd just be too much hassle to get up and go at this point. Plus, we're north of the lake, so we're above sea level.

we are in destrehan, our parish back up tp the lake so we are outta here if it gets even close...i dont even wanna think about whats gonna happen if the lake gets into the mix...we will proabably go to Lafayette and if thats not far enough...Houston...we have family in each city...
keep safe..

You keep safe, too! I'm really thinking we're not going to get a hard hit, but you just never know with these things. I'd be scrambling to get out if I were in NOLA, but we're a bit higher up here. I'm still south of I-12 which is considered the "danger" zone, but, worse comes to worse, I'll run up into the hills of Folsom or something.
It looks like the new contra-flow plan is going to work better than last year. Thankfully, it only took about 2 hrs to get from Mandeville to BR, which wasn't bad at all. But I know so many people that sat in traffic for 8 hours to get from NOLA into Slidell.

I'm praying for the red line and that it will go north and the east and fizzle out!

Hey ladies,
I'm here!!! I was AbbyMA on the WC.....we lived in Boston before Nola. I'm spending the summer at my parents in NJ, but my husband is in nola so I'm keeping track of the storm. After our miserable experience evacuating from Ivan, there is NO WAY I could convince DH to leave again. So no matter what happens I know he will be hunkered down there! Hope you are all okay

Allright ladies....I need your help! My husband got laid off in June and can NOT find a job! If you hear of anything, please let me know! His experience is in cooking/restaurant management, but at this point he just needs to work!
Hope everyone is doing well........could it be any hotter?!

Hi y'all!
My mom is attending a conference in NOLA during September - she'll have a bit of time to do touristy things, but won't have a lot of spending money. Does anyone have any ideas about what she can do or see on a small budget??
TIA!

Hey Nola girls -
Just wanted to check in and see if everyone evacuated safely. We left for my family in Ohio on Saturday. Seems like most of my friends got out allright. I'm mostly worried about my students (St. Bernard project).....it sounds like everything from the lake to mid-city is under water.
Hope you are all okay.
