My brother, SIL and 8-month old baby will be going to Montreal for a couple of days at the end of July.
Can anyone recommend places to visit and things to do? I think they are staying in the museum/financial district area.
Thanks!

Subscribing, because I will be going there for the first time this month.
I do have an air-crew list of stuff:
-the biggest indoor underground shopping street in the world... 2000 stores and 200 restaurants
-cirque du soleil
-Vieux Montreal - old town, charming little streets
-Basilique Notre Dame: one of the most beautiful buildings in town
-Vieux port: High life at the former harbor
-Mont Royal 30 minutes ascent gives you a beautiful view
-a botanical garden & planetarium at the Parc olympique
-Hockey games Tuesdays and Saturdays
This list also has a bunch of discos and clubs, probably not so suited for an infant :)
Like I said, I have never been there personally, this list was compiled by crewmembers who have. I do hope some more knowledgeable people stop by this thread :)

DH and I go to Montreal all the time. We mostly go for shopping, but we have been there to do touristy things from time to time. It's a beautiful city with lots and lots to do.
Mrs. M.'s list is pretty complete! Definitely try to see Basilique Notre Dame, Mount Royal and the Old Port (which is in Old Montreal).
Shopping is excellent in Montreal, especially for Americans with the exchange rate the way it is right now. I would recommend a store called Simon's. I heart Simons, that is the main reason for our trips to Montreal. Shopping in general along Sainte-Catherine Street is really good, but you will see the same store about 3 or 4 times in your travels along the street. It can get a little crowded on the weekend, but it's a great area to shop.
There is also the Just for Laughs Festival that is on until the end of July. It has indoor and outdoor performers and from what I've heard is alot of fun. I think it takes place in the Quartier latin area of Montreal.
I found this website: Tourisme Montréal (http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/B2C/00/default.asp)

Thanks for the ideas and websites.
Do you have any recommendations for good resturants that are child friendly? I am sure they would like to go for a couple of nice dinners.
Thanks!
