Wow! Hard to believe it's time for a second trimester thread! According to my doctor, the second tri starts at 13w, which I know is controversial, b/c everywhere you see differing opinions, but I'll take what he says for me personally!!! ;)
My next appt. is February 24. They took me off prometrium this weekend, and as of right now I'm trying to hold off taking any more zofran. Today's been pretty miserable, though - without the zofran I can't eat, and so it looks like I may be calling in for more pills. :( BOO!!
I'm growing, growing, growing!! It's insane, how big I'm getting! Even when I lay down at night I'm showing! Somone commented this weekend that I'm getting a "bubble." Guess that's a good way to put it!
Hope everyone's doing great - and that first trimester woes are coming to an end! I'm excited that we've made it this far! Congrats again to all the mommies here!

Hey there everyone...
I don't get alot of free time to post, but I do read along. Well, I was hoping that as I entered the 2nd trimester, my queasiness would be trailing off. Oddly enough, I was wrong. On Saturday (exactly 14 wks) I actually threw-up for the 1st time!!! I actually attribute it to taking a prenatal on an empty stomach then getting in a hot shower....I guess I won't do that again!
Other than that...nothing too special. I am still not showing, so I am hoping to wait another week or two until I tell my boss that I am pregnant (I have already told HR)....oddly enough today was my 1st day officially on the companies books...what a weird spot to be in.
My next appt is 2/23 and then another one 3/22

Happy Valentines Day!!

Can you believe we already have a 2nd trimester thread?!
Amy ~ My dr told me that the 2nd tri starts at 13w3d if you want to be completely accurate (40 weeks divided by 3 trimesters)...so we're both there! I'm jealous, I want to be really showing too!
PLNUBRIDE ~ So sorry that you threw up for the 1st time! Definitely no more prenatals + hot shower!

I posted this right before the other thread was closed, but I have my OB appt today. We're also having an u/s. Since I'm 15w2d, we might be able to tell what this bug is.
Congrats to babylove on her boy!
So exciting that we are all in the 2nd tri and will be able to start finding out the sexes of our babies. :)

Jennylou, I can't believe you might be able to find out the sex already! That would be very cool.
I can't believe it is the second trimester already. Very unreal. I'm still having issues believing that this pregnancy is going to result in an actual baby in 6 months.
Congrats to all of us!!!

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA. I went to Florida for a week to visit with family (It was the first time I'd seen any of them since we told everyone about the baby on Christmas day) It was sooo nice to see them and have everyone make a fuss over me being pregnant. :)
I've been following along since I got back but haven't had much to post. I'm still a little queasy sometimes and am very tired. I'm hoping that 2nd trimester energy boost hits me soon!
mrstim - sorry you're still having trouble eating. Yay for getting a baby ‘bubble’ though!
Plnubride – yuck to still feeling sick! Hope it tapers off for you soon.
Babylove – I saw your pic in the belly shot thread. You have the makings of a very cute baby belly!
Jennylou – Hope your appt. today goes well. How exciting that you might be able to learn if you’re having a girl bug or boy bug!
Have a great day everyone - Happy Valentines Day!!

Update on my due date: August 16th
Woo hoo for second trimester!! :D :D Tomorrow I'm 14 weeks - so no controversey for if I'm in the 2nd trimester or not. Yay!
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!!
QOTD: What are you and DH doing for V-D day?
DH and I are staying low key. We bought some very "nice" steaks. DH will grill them and make baked potatoes. We're staying in, but we will just cuddle.

Happy Valentines Day!!!!
I had to get a little weepy when I saw the 2nd trimester thread. I can't believe we are here. (although, I won't be 13W until tomorrow) I feel so blessed!
Thanks for the great new thread, Threadmistresses!!!
TennJane-I am still so tired too. UGHHH!
jenny-Good luck today! Please update ASAP!!!!! Sending you big open leg vibes!!!!
PLNUBRIDE-Sorry you are still sick! It will pass soon, I hope!
mrstim-Isn't it so surreal to see your body changing? Kinda sends shivers up my spine!
QOTD-V-day....We celebrated last night since I have to be somewhere tonight and we had a babysitter. We went out and I had some yummy crab legs!!!! :D
I keep forgetting...so threadmistress, my next appointment is 2/27 and you can use this for the front page....

Happy Valentines Day, Everyone!
Thanks, for starting the new thread Sabriel :). You're the best co-moderator ever (esp. since I've been sucking at it lately).
Yay, for Jennylou finding out the sex! I won't know (hopefully) until March 1st. I'll be 18 weeks then, so let's hope the bean isn't being modest :D.
Babylove, you're having a boy?!?! How did I miss that on the 1st tri thread? Congratulations!!!
QOTD: What are you and DH doing for V-D day? (*snicker* "V-D day" :p)
My Valentine's Day will be really similar to Chimichanga's. DH and I will be making steak, baked potatoes and a salad. I baked a cake this morning, so when I get home, I'll icing it. That'll be our dessert.
Hope everyone has a wonderful 2nd trimester :)!

Happy Valentine's Day LADIES.. :)
I have been MIA lately because my DS has been sick. He has a ear and throat infection...uhh not fun at all! We haven't slept in that past 2 days...
I can't believe we are starting to find out the gender of our babies!! How exciting!!! My next appointment is on Wednesday, February 22nd so maybe I will be able to find out then.
Hope you are all doing well. Can't believe we are already in our 2nd trimester!
QOTD: We are probably just going to stay at home today and go out for dinner on Saturday night.

I have a cervix check on Thursday. I am going to ask if they can tell the sex. If they can (and I can't tell by looking at the monitor) I am going to have her write it on a piece of paper since DH won't be there and then we can open it together.
QOTD Neither of us are really into V-day. I really hate it. Have had some pretty bad experiences in the past (ie finding a $50 florist bill of an ex-boyfriend when all I got was a rose...ie someone else got a big arrangement. Another bf and I broke up the day after v-day.)
DH can't keep a secret so told me I had to bring a vase to work since he ordered me 45 tulips from 1-800-flowers and they come in a box w/out a vase. I haven't gotten them yet. I left the vase on the counter for him to bring since I had to bring the cat to the vet this morning so my hands were full.
I got him a card and left it on the counter this morning. If i get home early enough and am inspired I make cook something nice. I got him a white chocolate and rasberry cheesecake the other day which he hasn't eaten yet. It is shaped like a heart.
He bought me dinner on Friday.
I can't for a couple of years from now when me and DC can handmake V-day cards for Daddy and grandparents.

QOTD - Not much for us. Adam also bought some steaks for us. I'm not up to going out to dinner yet. Still need Zofran to get through the day; I tried to see if I could go off it Sunday and it didn't go well. (I was on it til 26 or 28 weeks with Abby so it's ok.) I got him 9 bags of those conversation heart things, one for each year we've been together, and Abby 'made' him a picture frame ;) at playgroup this AM and will make him a card. He got each of us a stuffed animal. That's about it.

13w3d!
Abby's Mom - I can SO relate! I tried to go without zofran yesterday and felt like I was dying!!!!! :(
I finally called my ob for more zofran this morning. Apparently my INS. flagged my file and now is asking for prior-authorization before they'll allow any more zofran my way. I pulled up my policy on the web and they'll only pay for 30 zofran. I've had 20 now, so looks like I may have a slight problem. I can't afford them at regular price, that's for sure! I took my last one this morning :( BOO!!!!!!!
I'm making DH a heart shaped meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, yeast rolls and a heart shaped chocolate cake for supper. Then we'll just hang out here I guess. We went on that short trip last week which was my vday and anniversary gift to him, so I'm broke on the gift-giving front! He brought me flowers and a mushy card, though.
Can't wait to find out the sex!! Won't be too long!
I need to go ice the cake - hope everyone has a wonderful VDAY!

mrstim Sorry that your insurance will only pay for 10 more Zofran. Boo is right!
Marie Ooohhh, roses at work! How sweet!
ajlanden Great belly shot!
jesseybell I am really looking forward to making cards and fun things like that with DC.
Abby'sMom Sorry that you are still feeling yucky. M/s seems to have come back for a second go around here.
jennylou Sorry that the baby was so shy today. I hope you can find out next time! That's awesome that you are feeling flutters!
mloveya I hope your DS feels better soon!
cocoa_femme LOL, my office manager was wishing everyone a happy VD today. She thinks she is hilarious.
QOTD: What are you and DH doing for V-D day? Well, considering DH worked from 8-5, I worked from 12-7, and then he worked his second job from 6-9, we still have yet to see each other! I went to dinner with my mom. We will probably do something this weekend.

Sorry to make this a quick visit but here goes:
We had our 12-week appointment yesterday, so we are FINALLY announcing this pg to the world!
It was a very good appt. I've gained quite a bit of weight in first tri, but my dr was pleased with that. All screenings we've had so far are just beautiful. Dr. used the doppler to find the heartbeat (179) and then asked if we'd told our parents yet. When we said we were going to now, she said, how'd you like a picture to email them? And she snuck us into the u/s room!! Total surprise. We got to see the baby again, and this time s/he looks like a baby: all the fingers, ears, etc., that you can see w/o getting into a complete scan. Baby was quite active: looked like s/he was pushing off from the side of a pool a couple times, with little legs pushing and the back arching, arms waving...ahhh. :D It feels so, so good.
So we called our parents and they are THRILLED. We're going to have to get ahold of brothers, cousins, etc...'cause now we're telling!!

Jennylou ~ Thanks! So sorry that the bug was shy...maybe next time!
Marie ~ I have a hard time believing there's a baby at the end of this too!
TennJane ~ Awww...thanks for the belly compliments! I hope you're right. And I hope you start to feel better soon.
Chimichanga ~ Hope you had a great night cuddling w/ your honey :)
ajlanden ~ I feel so blessed as well...I thank my lucky stars everyday for this pgcy!! Love that belly!
MrsM ~ Yay for possibly feeling the baby!!
cocoa_femme ~ Yup...as of right now, the baby is looking like a boy! Of course, we won't know for sure for a few weeks, but the u/s tech was pretty sure! :)
mloveya ~ I hope your DS feels better soon!
jesseybell ~ So sorry about your bad Valentine's Day experiences!! How awful! Your DH sounds like he's making up for it though!
AbbysMom ~ Aww...those are such cute gifts for your DH! Seems like everyone had steaks for dinner :D
mrstim ~ So sorry about the Zofran situation! Something might be going on w/ my insurance and the Z too b/c usually the pharmacy gives me 10 but I only got 5 when I re-filled. And I just have them "just in case"...good luck! Maybe you can try some other type of med?
Sabriel ~ Thanks! Hopefully you got to enjoy V Day w/ your hubby at some point yesterday...
TuesdaysChild ~ YAY for telling!! I'm so glad you can finally let the cat out of the bag!
***
QOTD: I never answered about Valentine's Day...I cooked 2 filets and potatoes and a salad (shocker, I cooked!!) and we ate at home. But it was kind of a busy night b/c we had someone come over to look at our house first, which is for sale...it might have been a success!!

Jenny - sorry to hear the bug wasn't showing the goods. Maybe it will be a modest little girl. ;)
mrstim - sorry to hear about the Zofran. If you don't mind my asking - how much do they cost normally?
babylove - you're selling your house?!?! at least you're still early along. I couldn't imagine moving (even if we hired people to do it) if I was further along. Good luck with that!
DH got me a really cute book for Valentine's Day. It's a children's room decorating idea book. Some stuff is - ehh - not my style. Other stuff is really cute and I might want to use it depending on what we have. :)

Thanks to everyone for their sympathies!! The doc prescribed me Phenegren, which will make me sleep, so I'm trying to hold off taking those.
Jen - As for the zofran, I'm not sure exactly of the cost. When I got my 10 pills last time, the cost before insurance was $279.99. Yes, for 10 little measly pills!!!!!! Yesterday the doc said w/o ins. that it would be $100 for 9 pills, so I'm not sure what price it is, all I know is they're insanely EXPENSIVE!
I just rolled out of bed - I CANNOT get enough sleep these days! I'm going to try to eat something before the nausea sets in. Have a great day! (and check out those after-Vday sales, lots of cheap candy!!!)

2nd Trimester: Not there yet, but will be there next week.
Everyone seemed to have a great Valentines Day. I got home and had a really delicious meal with chocolate strawberries and creme brule for dessert. We decided not to get presents but DH still got me a locket with the baby's u/s picture in it. He said now I can carry the baby picture around all the time. I love it.
Threadmaster: Can you change my due date on the first page to 08/26/06. Thanks.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi to all! Its been so long since I have posted, but I have been reading along for the most part.
I am glad that things are going well for all the mommies. Everything is good here as well. I had my last appt on Feb 3 and I got another u/s for two reasons because the dr couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler and becuase she thought I looked so big she wanted to make sure there was only one little bean in there (which there was only one).
My next apt is March 3rd, and then antoher one on March 17th for the "big" u/s
As for VDay- nothing. I was slightly disappointed, but my hubby is just not that into vday plus he wasn't feeling well.

Hey everyone...
Babylove....I cannot believe you found out the sex already...congrats on having a BOY:)
I just have to post this....
QOTD: We are not huge fans of doing something huge..but we always try to do something small. Well, my DH left out of town on Monday and was supposed to return Friday. So, I was actually going to spend V-Day organizing and cleaning. Well, at about noon on V-day he got a call that he had to come back into town (which I didn't know about). I actually stayed a bit late at work. I called him on the way home (like I always do) and he said he was still out doing a job (in another state), but we talked for a few minutes. Well, I arrived home and opened our garage door and there was dozen roses sitting there...OK, really odd! (since a delivery service couldn't have left them). Then, I go inside and he had candles lit everywhere and dinner ready to eat! Plus, he had chocolate strawberries. I was SO SHOCKED to see him home...I started crying. Just having him there was so great....:):)

Chimichanga ~ Yup. Selling our townhouse and moving into a single family home. We don't move until the beginning of May...so hopefully I will still be feeling pretty good. It's not the best timing but at least we don't have to move with an infant! ;)
mrstim ~ I'm sorry the pills are so pricey...hopefully this m/s will stop soon and you won't need them at all! But I do happen to know that the Phenergren really works, although they will knock you out!!
jarocha ~ Awww...that locket is such a great gift!!!
isaacsmommy ~ Right there with you on the V Day disappointment. My DH is sweet as can be but not really good at remembering how important it is to do something romantic and thoughtful on V Day...oh well!!
PLNUBRIDE ~ What a great V Day!! Your DH sounds so sweet!! Yup...we *think* it's a boy. I was pretty surprised that we were able to find out...but I guess it can still change so we aren't buying anything just yet.

Ugh - feeling not good today :( Plus, we got a huge snow dump last night (7 inches in our back yard) and we're expecting at least another 5-7 tonight. Joyful! Right now it's freezing rain - I can't wait for the drive home tonight.
I know storms and changes in barometric pressure can induce labor, but can it also induce morning sickness?

I had my cervix-check u/s this morning. It wasn't the most fun u/s. It was in the same building as my doctor and they don't have a separate monitor, so I didn't even get to see anything. The technician wasn't the most warm and fuzzy person - she didn't say anything the whole time. Then once she was done, she was gone forever (like 10 minutes) before the radiologist came in. I love this woman - she came in after my very first u/s. She is a hoot. Turns out that with every u/s after 16 weeks they do a full scan (similar to the 'big u/s' in terms of measuring certain things) except if they can't see certain things they don't do extra work to try to get the bugger to move.
So the highlights are:
-My umbilical cord has 3 vessels, which is good
-The baby is measuring right on target
-They aren't able to get a good look at the face or the heart - I think it was facing away
-Thus they weren't able to see "the goods"
The only "negatives", which really mean nothing at this point because it is so early is:
-The baby is breech (I thought they all were all this point)
-I do have placenta previa (placenta covering the cervix) but I wasn't told anything special and a lot of people have it at this stage and the placenta has plenty of time to move.
Obviously if neither of the above change, then c-section here I come, which to me is not the WORST thing in the world.
All I really cared about was that the heart was still beating, so I am not down about this less-than-stellar experience. Since I have felt so UN-pregnant the last few days, it was just great to know that SOMEONE got to see it, even if it wasn't me...oh yeah, and no pictures either :(
jennylou

jessey - sorry it wasn't the experience you were hoping for.
Don't worry too much about the breech thing, babies flip and change all the time. Right now, this bug is transverse, which means, side to side. And yep, plenty of time to both turn and correct the previa.

jesseybell Sorry the u/s didn't go how you wanted it to. It sounds like everything is going well, though!
Chimichanga Wow, that's a lot of snow! Sorry that you aren't feeling well.
PLNUBRIDE How sweet of your DH! I have to admit, I cried when I read that. (Dang hormones.) :)
isaacsmommy Glad your appointment and u/s went well!
jarocha That locket is such a sweet gift from your DH!
mrstim Phenergen is what my mw gave me. It works well, but is does make me sleepy. I tried to suck it up at work and then took it when I knew I would be home and could sleep. It works out okay, because I usually puke at night anyways.
Even though I didn't see DH all day on Valentine's Day, he made up for it by bringing me 2 dozen roses home after work! I am a sucker for flowers, so I am easy to buy for.
I have been having pains in my lower abdomen on both the left and right side (though not at the same time), they come and go and don't last very long. I think they are stretching pains, but I am not sure?
Can't wait for my next appointment on Monday, so I can hear the heartbeat again!

jesseybell - sorry your ultrasound wasn't what you thought it would be. Can I ask why they are checking your cervix so much? Did you have problems before or are you more high risk? Babies flip all the time though, don't worry about the breech thing. I went to a delivery where the baby must have flipped between the 39 week ultrasound and she delivered at 39 weeks and 2 days!!!
babylove - another crazy mover, huh? We are doing the same thing. We'll be selling our house April/May and our new house won't be done until July or AUGUST! We are cutting it close, I hope it will be ready in time! I'd rather move pregnant than with a new born! Good luck!
Valentines Day - we had a hot date at El Torrito with the kids...ha ha. But DH did buy me a gift basket, card and a gift certificate for a prenatal massage!! I will save that when I'm bigger and need the spoiling!
Uh oh....DS is waking up from his nap I'll have to cut this short. I'm doing pretty good. Still tired and it's not helping that I'm staying up at night to watch the Olympics instead of going to bed early. We've shared our news with everyone so it feels great to have it out in the open. Tonight when I go to work I'll share it with my coworkers who will be thrilled. They have been asking for weeks now I'm sure they are completely suspicious. Especially since everytime we take an xray in the room I run out frantically, ha!
OK DS really wants me now - have a great day everyone!

K&H Mommy - I am a DES Daughter. DES was a drug given to women from the 1950s - 1971 (1 year after I was born) to prevent miscarriage. My mom had had 6 - 1 before my brother and 5 between us. Unfortunately the drug can cause issues with the daughters born from that pregnancy. Most of the issues stem from holding on to the baby, not getting pg. 2 common problems is increased numbers of ectopic pg (reason why I got an u/s at 8 weeks) and the second is a risk of an incompetent cervix, which could result in a 2nd trimester miscarriage
There is also an increased risk in cervical cancer. Because of it I have been going to the GYN since I was 14. So far I am incredibly lucky. I do not have a T-shaped uterus or a tipped uterus - 2 common physical abnormalities. My cervix is slightly shorter and slightly mishapen.
So they want to check my cervix every so often to make sure it isn't showing signs of incomptency. If there is they could do a cerclage (stitch me up), send me to bed, or a combo. But there isn't a 100% foolproof way to prevent it.
In a way I am lucky because they are checking it. Unfortunately some people don't find out that they have a incompetent cervix (not that I do - I am just at risk for it) until they suffer a loss.
I am a little worried because my doctor said that my big u/s would be the last check and I think that is too early. I've read the losses are most likely to occur at 19-23 weeks. If something doesn't happen by then, then it most likely won't. If it were to happen, 6 oz of baby (not an exact number, just an example) would cause it, not 2 lb of baby later on.
So I am going to bring it up to the doctor in 3 weeks that I don't feel comfortable stopping the checks at 18 weeks. But the early placenta previa could be a blessing in disguise, because co-workers have told me that pp is another reason to have frequent u/s.
Sorry for the novel. It is something I am pretty passionate about. My mother (not my GYN) has been jamming it into my head for 20 years that I would have problems and she's caused me so much stress about it...But at the same time it is better to be informed and press for what you want than for something horrible to happen and the doctor to be like 'well we'll just automatically stitch you up at 14 weeks next time'.

jessey - Thanks for sharing your story. :) Hope you didn't think I was too nosey by asking about it! Sounds like you have a great doctor who is very involved and proactive about things, you are so lucky. My Aunt was a DES daughter too, she was born in 51. She had 3 healthy boys, two of which were twins that she carried until 39 weeks! Sounds like your doctor is really good, I'm sure he/she will be perfectly fine with continuing to check it out to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Cherish-I totally agree with Abbysmom...Round Ligament pain. Not fun, but great evidence that your baby is growing!!!

Urgh. I woke up this morning and my left ear is clogged as if it has fluid in it. I don't have a cold at all and I feel fine other than that annoying clogged ear. Does anyone know what this could be?? I know pg women have more fluid in general, could this just be related? I doubt it's an ear infection b/c I have no fever or pain. babylove - I walked around with a clogged ear for weeks. I attributed it to the changes in air pressure when we flew home from Hawaii. It eventually just went away on its own. It hurt like heck though! And I felt like I was yelling all of the time.
QOTD - what are your weekend plans?[/b]
Okay, I know that was generic, but it's all I could think of. If you have another, please feel free to add it, I know Fridays can be slow around the boards. Okay, so our plans for this weekend - well, netflix sent us the first disc to Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy. So, we'll be watching that. I think Sunday evening we're going to the ILs. Other than that - we don't have a lot planned - but I'm sure we'll be busy (me: cleaning our house, him: working on a rental). Monday I'm off (yay President's Day) and he took the day off (vacation). I'm looking forward to it. :)

jennylou ~ Oh yes, I had that too, coming back from CA in January, along with a horrible cold. But right now I don't have a cold at all. It's so strange. And there's no pain...it seems to have gone away right now though.
QOTD: Big weekend...tonight I am having dinner w/ my mom since DH is going to a basketball game at his high school. Tomorrow I have a million errands to run to prepare for our open house on Sunday (BB&B, mall, grocery store, etc.). Saturday night DH and I are driving to York, PA (about 45 mins away) to meet our friends for dinner who live in Lancaster. Sunday we have our open house during the day and then my cousin and her husband will be staying over on Sunday night. I'm off on Monday for the holiday (:) ) so I'm going to a big sale at a local jewelry store and then meeting a friend for lunch. Whew!!! How's that for busy?!
I had my ultrasound for the full integrated screen the other day. I was so excited to see the baby! I think s/he was napping because the ultrasound technician had to jiggle my belly to get the baby to move. Anyway - I saw the heart beating and the tech checked for gender, but couldn't discern anything. It doesn't matter, I was just happy to see my little pumpkin. :D The hospital also took a couple vials of blood. My doc will combine the results of the ultrasound, the blood sample I already took, & a blood sample I'll take at my next appt (3/10) to assess the probability of the baby having Down's Syndrome or neural tube defects. The ultrasound tech said everything looks great though.
QOTD: DH & I are taking DD to see Elmo Live. She is a very big Elmo fan so I'm really excited for her. I haven't told her yet because she won't understand why we can't go see Elmo right NOW. ;) We also plan on visiting some friends of ours who just had a baby earlier this week. We'll probably visit my parents as well.

K&H's mommy - No, you weren't being too nosey. It is always interesting to find people who have actually heard about DES. When I went to have my first cervix check 2 weeks ago the radiologist was like 'I didn't know any DES daughters were even still having babies' - seeing that I was at the tail end and I am having my baby late (35), I am definitely one of the last ones. My mom always stressed that I need to find a doctor who knows about it - my doctor is only 39 but they definitely were still teaching it in med school. They are now starting to do research on the DES grandaughters so I'll still be having to keep my eyes open about it if I have a girl.
My ever-ending saga of maternity jeans has come to an unfortunate end. I tried on the latest pair of gap jeans and while I am wearing them today, they are too big. But I think I may keep them around for later on, but later on will be spring/summer when I don't wear jeans, even on Friday. So it may be a waste of money. I still haven't tried on all the other clothes I had delivered the other day.
QOTD- Last weekend it snowed 2 feet. Now there is no snow left and it is 60 degrees. This weekend it will be in the single digits, so we won't be venturing too far away. Maybe I'll get to start tackling the second bedroom closet. And we need to start packing for Florida. Yeah!!!
Another pregnancy milestone - I am running out of work right now to get my hair highlighted. Yeah!!!

It's so exciting that we're starting to get to that time where the u/s techs can tell the sex of the baby. That is so cool to me!!! I know waiting more will be more definative, but - fun stuff!!
Today is better in Wisconsin. We did get another 5 inches of snow yesterday. I left work at 11 and it took me 1.5 hours to drive what normally takes me 20 minutes. I was crawling home. I seriously thought about stopping, but thought against it. Who would come to get me? DH has a tiny car that's horrible in the snow.
He was shoveling for 5 hours yesterday. We had a lot of wind and drifting. I went out to "help" I was only allowed to move the really light snow on top - no shoveling deep. I mostly played with the dog so he'd be occupied (and get tired out).
QOTD - tomorrow we're going to clean up our guest room. It has become a dumping ground for all of our stuff. My parents are coming up next weekend, so we need to clean. I'll be cleaning during the day and we'll do the room at night. Sunday I need to get some pants (sitting at work with my pants unbuttoned - lovely because I forgot a rubber band).

Jessey--Thanks for explaining your situation. I have an unusual history myself, but it's not DES-related (born '78). When I was a teenager I was diagnosed with a double uterus. Here are couple links explaining it: http://www.inletmedical.org/html/uterus_didelphys.htm
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/refcap/551934.html
Basically I have 2 completely seperate cavities, each with its own cervix. Both pregnancies have been in my right uterus, since the fallopian tube on the left was removed b4 we began TTC.
They found it b/c of the surgery I had to have for endometriosis. I was referred to a RE and saw one as my regular dr. until I got pg. I'm automatically classified as a high-risk pg, and there's a whole other story about my DS: preterm labor, early delivery, and yes, he was breech (probably all due to my uterus).
The RE who sees me is at a teaching college, so he often brings in a student to observe my exams. It's fairly rare and I'm glad that more dr.s are learning about this. Most dr.s, u/s techs, and nurses have not had a double uterus patient. For instance, I have to have 2 pap tests so that each cervix is monitored. I've been scanned in every way possible. Also I have only one kidney, one of the "classic" signs of a uterine abnormality. Nobody else in my family has this, and frankly, I've thought I don't WANT a daughter if I would pass this on to her.
KKay--Congrats on the great u/s! I hope all your test results come back clear.
QOTD weekend plans--DH is taking me to one of our favorite restuarants, a Mongolian stir-fry. We're babysitting DS's playmate tonight so my friend can go out for her birthday. I'm not much good in the evening (too exhausted) so I'm kind of dreading have 2 2-year-olds tonight!

Hi Ladies!!
Had my second appt on Thursday and got to hear the heartbeat! It was beyond awesome - I'd told DH he didn't have to come to this one since he had a day in store at work, but I wish he had since it was jawdroppingly cool.
Got measured and I am 13cm when she was expecting 15, but she said that's still right on for where I'm at. She used the doppler and the heartbeat sounded great! I don't know what she measured or what it should be, but she just counted and smiled so that's good :)
Best part was the kicking! She said I could possibly feel movement but she'd be surprised if I did. Wednesday I had my hand on me and I thought I did feel something, just once, because the sensation reminded me of 'hollowness' - like if you flicked a pumpkin or a melon with your finger, you could tell it was hollow inside. Only the flicking was from the *inside*, where kiddo kicked me where my hand was and the sensation on my hand was just like the pumpkin feeling. How cool!
When we were hearing the heartbeat we heard the baby kick! I said out loud "oh please do it again!" and of course... nothing! For several very long moments, then whack-whack-whack all in a row. So very cool, I can't get over it :)
I am doing the AFP next week, and next appt is 3/16 with an ultrasound to see the sex of the baby!! :)

I have been feeling awful the last few weeks. Two weeks ago I had a URI, and now the last 3 days my allergies seem to be out of control. My eyes are runny, my nose is completely clogged, but runny at the same time. I can't breathe through it at all. I keep sneezing, and my whole face itches. :( It is so miserable that I can hardly function. I just want to cry!
(Sorry for the whining... I just wanted to complain.)
My next MW appointment is tomorrow! Yay!

Sabriel - sorry to hear about the allergies :( I need to ask my dr. what I can take for allergies. I get horrible hay fever and we moved out towards the country more so I know I'm going to get hit HARD. I didn't see any allergy medications approved on my list, so wondering if I get to be miserable this spring.
Over the weekend I felt like crap. I was trying to clean the house and I kept having to take breaks. I was hardly using chemicals - more just straightening up. I'd get winded/dizzy and at times my side would ache. So I'd sit down and rest. It annoyed me a bit because it took me two hours to do something that normally takes me about an hour. But, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Hello all!
I finally got my zofran and it's helping. I'm still really unable to eat very well - yesterday was 2 muffins, 3 pb crackers, 1/2 bologna sandwich, 1 bite corn, 2 bites beans, 1 inch square of cornbread, and 2 bites of ham. :( Considering Saturday was a scoop of ice cream, banana & 2 waffles, that's better than usual!
Since I can't eat meat or eggs right now, my energy level is suffering greatly! Seems like I'm sleeping all the time right now. :( I'm guzzling gatorade when I'm awake, though - hopefully thats helping some.
I'm having lots of round ligament pain - yesterday was so bad I stood in the bathroom at church holding my belly up! :D I'm not sad about that though - it means I'm growing! I'm in maternity clothes almost constantly now - my belly seems HUGE!! :D I look back at my 4 week pics and think "boy, why did I gripe about being fat - I was little!"
My next appt is friday and I'm going to ask the nurse about scheduling a big us! I can't WAIT to find out what this little one is! If they schedule an appt at 18 weeks, I'll be going in on around March 17th! Seems odd that it's so close!
Anyway - that's all that's going on with me - stretching, growing, fighting to eat, sleeping, etc! Ain't pregnancy great??? ;)
Hope all is well with all ya'll! (sorry for my southern influence showing here!)

What do you have in mind or done yet for the nusery?
I'll admit that I'm an over-achiever and always really do things ahead of time, but anyway, here's our nursery as for right now:

I haven't done anything in about a month, and won't do anything until we find out what the baby is! We're doing a mural on the wall, and hanging stuff up on the walls, moving the treadmill, etc. Lots to still do, but at least I have the bedding, and all of the furniture but the glider. I'm ordering the glider when we get our tax return in! :D Anyone else?

If it's a boy we're going to do a sports themed room. If it's a girl, I really don't know yet. I'd love to do an under the sea theme or maybe lambs but I don't know.
I was going to buy plain white paint from Home Depot (on sale right now) and just get it colored/tinted later. I was told they wouldn't do it - I'd have to get it mixed right away. :( I even explained the situation and they still said no. Phooey on them!

Our nursery is basically complete. We didn't find out the sex of #1 until he was born, and then we were going to finish everything off (curtains, floor rug, twin bedding, wall accessories). It's still sitting like this, waiting until we find out the sex of our bug:

I think I am one of the only ones who is actually working today :( But the client isn't in and a lot of people aren't here at work, so it has been nice and quiet and only 1 more day until vacation. Yeah!!
I am feeling so un-pregnant today. I sware my belly is shrinking and now I just feel fat...except when I sit down there aren't belly rolls which makes me feel better!
I still need to try on all the maternity clothes I got from the gap last week. If they don't fit well I'll be living very leanly in sunny FL this week.
QOTD - Nursery
I already talked about this in some of the nursery threads. 4 years ago I painted my second bedroom walls this color (on TV it looks more blue, but the picture and my walls are more bluish purple - good enough to be able to be boy or girl)- My walls are actually 2 toned -2 walls 1 color and 2 the other color - ajoining paint chips on a strip.
This nursery is from an episode of 'Get Color' on HGTV that I finally got to watch in person this weekend. It isn't really an inspiration, but more so closely to what we (okay me) already decided to do before seeing it.
http://images.scrippsweb.com/HGTV/2006/01/25/hgcor305_after2_i.jpg
We aren't doing beadboard and we have a light grey carpet, not hardwood. We are going with the dark wood crib and changing table.
We are going with a bug/garden theme. The nursery needs to be generic because it will be used for subsequent babies (and shared by both children) but I may tailor it towards the sex (if we can find out) - ie more butterflies for a girl, more frogs or snails for a boy.
Mobile: I have hinted about to my best friend and I actually saw it in real life this weekend and love it even more.
http://www.babysupermall.com/main/products/sfd/sfd30600.jpg
This is the bedding I bought from Homegoods back in August. If I find something else I like more, I may buy it and let my mom use this, but I do like it a lot.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5ce03b3127cce94efe8dcf7fd00000016108GcOHDZu2A
Right now the bedding is at my best friends. Our nursery is a guest room and we don't plan on buying anything until May or June (I've been on a couple things here or there) though I did finally work on cleaning out the closet some this weekend. I am not Jewish, I am just superstitious. We are not out of the woods yet, so the less that is at my house, the less we'd have to move, get rid of, put out of sight, etc. if something were to happen.

Busy weekend. Feeling kind of blah today. I think I have one of those 2nd tri headaches. It doesn't help that I haven't eaten much today. I feel kind of out of sorts, hard to explain. Hopefully I'm not coming down with something.
QOTD: Nursery - Nothing yet. We are moving in May, so we don't really have a room to decorate yet. I pretty much know the furniture and glider I want (all from Bellini, actually I took my mom to see it today), as well as the bedding (assuming Truman actually is a boy). The room will be pale blue and sage green w/ antique white furniture (distressed-looking). I would like to do chair rail moulding on the walls and paint the walls sage green above the moulding and blue below it. Some kind of neutral carpet. That's about it! No purchasing anything until after the big u/s in mid-March. :)

babylove Sorry about the headache. I hope you feel better soon!
jesseybell I had to work today too. I am feeling unpregnant too. I just told DH yesterday that I think my belly is getting smaller!
mrstim I have a lot of trouble eating too. Meat and eggs are just yuck. I know I am not getting nearly enough protein, but I do the best I can. having lots of round ligament pain here too.
Chimichanga Sorry that you are feeling like crap. :( The sad part is that I am already taking Zyrtec and Singluair for my allergies, and I still have issues! The mw and my gp said both were fine to take while pg, and while I hate to take anything I basically have no choice. Yeah, allergies suck.
What do you have in mind or done yet for the nusery? All of your nurseries look great so far! I have no idea what we are doing with our. We will probably wait until the big u/s to start it.
I had my appointment today. We heard the heart beating away and the baby kicked the doppler! That was so awesome! I did lose 2 pounds, but she wasn't worried about it. We will schedule our big u/s after my next appointment in 4 weeks. Yay!

Hey everyone...
Sounds like sinus issues are the name of the game right now. I have never had sinus problems...but right now my nose feels SOO stuffed up...it drives me batty. Not to mention that my queasiness seems to be coming on pretty strong in the morning. Hum...oh well.
As far as the round ligament pain...can anyone explain what it feels like? I get these pains in the area below my belly button that serioulsy feel like strong period cramps....is that what is feels like? Or is it more off to one side or another? Sometimes it is so strong, I am scared to move.
QOTD - The nurseries are so adorable! Jesseybell....where did you find your mobile...it is so cute and what I have in mind for our nursery. I have to say that seeing the progress of everyone's nurseries has brought me great comfort. I thought my DH and I were insane for purchasing our crib and changing table 2 weeks ago!!! We decided to go with Black furniture and the bedding we think we have decided on Flutter Bee by Brandee Danielle (The trim is actualy black and white gingham). My Dh went and bought wooden bees that can be hung on the wall and we painted them to match our colors just this weekend....

Nursery - Wow you girls are really ahead of the game! Loving all the nursery ideas. I am planning on using the same crib we have now - either wean DS to a toddler bed or a twin bed. I love his crib, it's very sturdy. It converts to a toddler bed when needed. Here's a picture of his crib:

K&H's mommy-I love the crib. WE got ours as a gift and it is NOT what I wanted. It is just not sturdy. Where did you get it?
PLNUBRIDE-For me the RLP, stretch around my whole belly. I especially get it if I stand to fast or if I sneeze or cough. It like shoots a pain across my belly. I haven't had it too bad...yet. Last time I remember it happening a lot! Love the bedding!
Sabriel-Yay for the great appointment! I am so glad you heard that h/b!!!! Horray!!!
Tracee-I hope you are feeling better today!
jesseybell-I think that bedding is super cute!!!! And that inspiration room is TDF!!!
jennylou-That nursery is going to be so cute! I am drooling over that crib. I am having strong girl feelings for you! I don't know why!
mrstim-Wow you have a lot done!! So cute!
QOTD-I am the loser of the thread. I honestly haven't even thought about it. Since our 3rd bedroom is downstairs, our kids will have to share a room. Dani's room is sky blue and white...her bedding is ladybugs. So cute. I don't know what I am going to do with #2.
Not much else...plugging along. I am feeling pretty good and eating everything in site. Here is a QOTD #2....Are you watching your diet? I don't want to gain what I did last time. Now that I feel better, I really want to get better. How about excersise? The only thing I have been doing is chasing after my 1 year old. I need to do better.

jennylou-That nursery is going to be so cute! I am drooling over that crib. I am having strong girl feelings for you! I don't know why!
Thanks - it was our splurge item. I justified it by saying we'd get years and years of use out of it. It's a convertible. We plan on using it for babies and then we'll set it up as the guest bed. I don't think we'll ever use it as a toddler bed - since at that time I think we'll be thinking about another baby - maybe after the last baby? ;)
I've had a few people say they are getting girl vibes - we'll see - on St Patty's Day we have another u/s and I'll be over 19 weeks. Hopefully the bug will show the goods. :)
ETA:
QOTD - I'm not too worried about weight gain. Last time I ended up gaining 22 (14 in the last four weeks - actually, it was all betwee 35-37 weeks!). I lost all of it right away. Then I was emotionally eating and gained a few back. Soon after, I went on the SBD and lost even more. So, all that said, I'm not afraid of gaining too much. I try not to overeat crap, but if I have a hankering for some ice cream - well, I eat some! :)
All of the nurseries and ideas look great so far! I hope everyone is feeling better as the days progress. I never had this problem with my first pregnancy, but is anyone's prenatal vitamins doing a job on their stomach? I wake up every morning with a BAD stomach ache. I'll have to ask the doctor about switching.
Nursery - We will transition DS to a bed before the baby arrives. No pics of the nursery here at work, but we have caramel colored furniture with a sleigh crib. Walls are a sage green and the crib bedding is Wendy Bellissimo's Safari, so it's gender neutral.
Eating Healthy - Hmm...with stomach issues as of late, I'm not eating much these days. As with ajlanden, my 22 month old DS keeps me going, but I try to fit in the treadmill at least 3-4 times per week. I gained a lot last pregnancy and am also determined to be better about my eating habits this time. I will, however, indulge my french fry craving when severely needed:)

Hello everyone!! Last night we heard the heartbeat for the first time!! :D :D The booger was moving all over the place. We'd get the hb, then he'd move. I think he ran into the wall of my uterus or something. The hb was 153.
This week is a total baby week. My parents are coming up on Saturday and we're looking at cribs. They said if I saw one I liked they would buy it for me right away. My mom asked me how many maternity clothes I had and I told her. She said that wasn't enough and we'd have to go buy more. My parents are cool! :) Totally unexpected but definitely appreciated.
QOTD2 - I'm trying to watch what I eat, but if I'm hungry for it, I'll eat it. I have gained 2 pounds thus far which my doctor wants me to watch. I understand it, but she wasn't concerned. I haven't been exercising which I know is bad. But it's been so cold and when I exercise inside the dog goes nuts and play attacks.

One QOTD: Nursery. We only have two bedrooms, so DD and this baby will be sharing until we move (hopefully next summer). DD's room is pastel yellow, with green, yellow, and white trim, and some pink that we mixed in after she was born and we knew that 'she' was a 'she' and not a 'he'. Our crib bedding is the Kidsline Arcadia design.
Another QOTD: Eating. Not too concerned at the moment, but I know I will be the second I pass my start-weight (since I think I'm still a little below it). Last time, like Jenny, I gained nearly half of the weight I gained during the last 2 or 3 weeks of pg. I'd like to say it was all water, but in reality I think it was the two or three enormous cream cheese danishes I had each day, plus lack of movement. Had I delivered at 37 or 38 weeks instead of going almost all the way to my EDD, I'd only have gained 16 or 17 lbs total.
Jen, congrats on hearing the HB. Do you have a digital display or do you count and multiply?
Oops, DD is ready to get up!

I'm loving all the nurseries, ladies (and the ideas too)!
QOTD 1 - We have the guest bedroom/soon to be nursery painted a nice shade of light green. We picked that color, a couple of years ago, with future babies in mind :). Now, my wonderful hubby's cousin just needs to get his crap out of there, so I can start decorating. Since we find out the sex on March 1st, I told DH that his cousin had until the end of this Feb./beginning of March to clear out his stuff. We'll see how that goes .
QOTD 2 - Sadly, I haven't been watching what I eat - out side of those things that we preggo ladies can't eat. I haven’t been pigging out, or anything. But, I haven’t been eating super-healthy either :(. I have, however, been drinking TONS of water and orange juice. That's good...right :o?
mrstim

Such wonderful nurseries!!! :D
OOTD#2- I'm not stressing right now. I've lost 13 lbs since getting pregnant, and since I'm still struggling to eat anything, I'm slowly either holding my own or losing more. I have a feeling that at my next appointment I'll be told to start gaining. Never thought I'd worry about GAINING!? Oh well. I'm sure I'll gain lots of weight! I have no energy to exercise at all - so not much of that either!
jesseybell
02-21-2006, 10:02 AM
QOTD- I was only up 1 lb between my 11 week visit and my 15 week visit, but I have no idea how much I was up between getting pg and 11 weeks. I haven't been stepping on the scale, but I really want to be more diligent about it. This vacation is kind of our last hurrah and after that we are going to hunker down and be more healthy.
For DH that means resolving himself to the last step of quitting smoking (he had quit 100% for a couple of months (down from 1 1/2 packs a day)) but since October he's been smoking 5-6 a night - still huge progress)) and eating healthier and loosing some of the weight he gained by quitting (the 5-6 a day aren't helping his metabolism).
For me it means curbing the chocolate ice cream (part of me is afraid that my maternity clothes will get too tight in the butt and I don't want to buy new ones!) and other bad eating habits, as well as breaking out the treadmill and the pg yoga DVD and keeping track of what I eat and my weight. I am hoping I will be more successful as we get closer to spring.

http://www.babysdream.com/img_product/SECRPNCN_L.jpg
QOTD - nope not watching what I eat...whatever sounds good, I eat it. I gained 55 lbs with Kyle  ! But in my defense I got pregnancy induced hypertension and was swollen up like a balloon. I lost almost 40 pounds in the first 2 weeks and all of the weight by 2 months. Breastfeeding is a magical thing! :)

K&H's mommy-Thanks for the crib rec...I'll check it out!
Abby'sMom-It just isnt' as fun to plan a nursery when they have to share, is it? :)
You know, it is funny how differently everyone gains weight during pregnancy. I bet if I ate great and excersised I would still gain a bunch. I think our bodies are just predisposed. I gained over 45 with #1 (I quit counting). I have already gained like 6-7. UGHHH!! Oh well, it is worth it!!
BTW-I am eating broccoli, carrots and snap peas for my morning snack! Yay for me!

Love the nursery ideas, ladies!! :)
Anyone suffering from 2nd trimester headaches? :( I had a doozy last night and it was still hanging around this morning. I feel better now, but not my normal self. Hopefully this won't be a regular thing for me.
QOTD: eating - Eh. Sometimes I watch what I eat, but most of the time, I eat whatever I want. I haven't been into sweets much at all, only salty things, so I think that helps. I started off pretty petite (though not what I consider my ideal weight), and have gained about 3 lbs so far. I have a drs appt next week so we'll see what he says about that.

Exercising --I’m not exercising. Hope I don’t sound like a broken record, but since this is a high-risk pg, it’s better if I do less than more. I go swimming at an indoor pool with DH & DS twice a month (no hot tub, wah!) and walk whenever appropriate. I also have my 2 1/2-yr-old to take care of everyday.
Gaining weight --Funny you should ask. With my first pg I didn’t gain ANY weight until 18 weeks. That’s way too late for my slender build. With #2 and my huge appetite (yay) I put on 10 lbs in the first tri. Yikes. My dr & DH are happy.
What do you have in mind or done yet for the nursery? We’re waiting a bit to make up our minds. We have a really nice room for DS, but I’d like a much more girly theme if that’s what the u/s tells us. I’m partial to the pastel dragonflies or nursery book décor. If it’s another boy, we may squeeze him into DS’s room, which is done in a mountain theme. I should post pictures. What we did was use a beautiful green to show mountains, plateaus, and plains on the bedroom walls and then we had each person in our family paint something on the scene. For instance, one grandfather got really ambitious and painted a miniature pine forest. DS’s godfather painted snow on the mountaintops.
Jen---Congrats on hearing the h/b!
MaryTX —That is the best explanation of movement I’ve heard! Thank you so much. I’ve had people ask me “what it’s like” and they don't really understand. Baby not kicking when I wanted it to was my first realization that this is a real little person, with its own agenda.
My next appt (w/dr) is 3/16. I don’t have the big u/s scheduled yet.

Lately I've had a lot of pressure around my tummy. I think it's gas (sorry if TMI) but it's not too painful or bothersome so...pretty much just dealing with it.
I did have sort of a bummer at work today. I'm being moved off a big account because there are two managers on it (I'm the newest) and we really only need one. I understand the reasoning behind it. But, now my boss wants to use my pregnancy to explain the transition to the client. :( why not just tell the client the truth? I'm not being moved off because I'm pregnant. It just stings a bit.

Chimichanga - I think your boss should tell the truth. You were moved off the account, because only one manager was needed, and you had less seniority. If he/she uses your pregancy as the excuse, the client could be offended and/or put off by it.
babylove - I know, isn't it sick :p.

Hi all!
I really enjoyed seeing the nursery pics posted! I have been so excited about decorating the nursery - I've got lots of ideas but I'm trying to hold off on doing much until we know if we're having a boy or a girl. I think either way the nursery will end up being pretty gender neutral though. We've got the top part of the walls painted a soft yellow color. My DH installed a white chair rail and we painted the wall white below it. I don't have any pictures but it's pretty much a blank slate right now.
chimichanga - I would be upset with what your boss is planning to do too! If your pregnancy is not the reason you won't be able to finish out the account then it's very inappropriate for your boss to use that as an excuse.
babylove - I know exactly what you mean about the vanishing belly. I'm attributing it to how much I'm eating during the course of the day. :)

Thanks for the support ladies. Unfortunately it's almost like the culture around here. To tell the clients what we think they want to hear. If they hear we're going to start the PG transition early to avoid any hiccups, the client will see it as a good thing - continued stellar service.
I just hope they don't use my pregnancy as an "excuse" for other things. I'm not forgetful, I'm always on top of my reports/etc.

Welcome, E&O!! Congrats, on your pregnancy :)!
So at the end of March I'm traveling to Scotland to visit my best friend (and meet her 5 mo old son). This includes an 8 hour overnight flight from Philadelphia to London. I'll be 18 weeks pregnant at the time. I'm on the lookout of a pair of comfy pants for the trip, something casual, but not too sloppy. Probably some kind of active wear.
I love the pants that someone posted from babystyle back in Nov 2005, but they no longer have these. There kind of yoga-tech type pants.
Any suggestions?

Hi girls,
I am soooo sorry that I have been MIA lately but I got my DS's cold and I have been sooo miserable this past week. My next appointment is on March, 20th and he will schedule me for my big sonogram at that appointment.
I also have to go to blood work this week.
That's about it. I hope you are all doing well. Can't wait to see what everyone else is having.

How about a QOTD about food - since I'm starving!
What foods have you been liking?
Mexican - I can eat this all the time. In fact, I went to dinner by myself last night (DH was busy), and I went for Mexican.

I was craving A1, but I think that has now passed.

Hi everyone!
QOTD: I'm loving anything starchy - potatoes, bread, cereal ect.. Although, those are not much different from my pre-pg cravings. Also, I've been a vegetarian for many, many years but have found myself craving some meat every once in awhile. Everytime I do I think of when Pheobe on Friends was pg and was craving meat. :) I have indulged a few times - I figure it's my body telling me what I need. Jennylou - I second the Mexican food! Marie-Oh, how fun!!! Enjoy!
QOTD-ICE CREAM! I actually bought some frozen yogurt so I don't feel so guilty. Also, all I have been able to think about this morning is eating an AVOCADO!!! YUMMY!!!! Last week in was chicken and dumplings. Weird.
QOTD- First thing in the morning- Orange Juice. I pour the glass, chug half of it and refill. The rest of the day- bagels and cream cheese (more the cream cheese than the bagel) and candy bars. Sadly, nothing to nutritious for me.

E&O ~ Heehee...I had the same exact "thing" for bagels and cream cheese with more cream cheese than bagel! :D I ate an entire container in one week!!
QOTD: Gatorade in the morning (I drink a 20 oz bottle before 8am!)Cheetos, Gushers, burgers...nothing healthy, unfortunately.

QOTD - What foods have you been liking? Honestly, I'm with Cherish - I'm not able to eat very well still. I can eat saltine crackers, gatorade, and fruit snacks with no trouble. Otherwise......???
Can't wait for my appt tomorrow - maybe they'll let me set up the BIG u/s appt. Hopefully I won't have to wait another 4 weeks - I'd be almost 19 weeks by then and I wanna know sooner!!!!! I was talking with DH about ordering our glider soon, and I told him that often companies say around 12 weeks for delivery, and since we're waiting 2-3 weeks to order from today, it dawned on me that I'll be around 30 weeks if it comes in 12 weeks!!  Seems like time is FLYING!
I'm slowly getting energy back - my house is so happy! It's getting cleaned regularly again! :D
Gushers??? YUM! I had some extreme new ones as a sample at walmart last week and wasn't impressed, but the original ones are YUMMY!
Tracee-What flavor of Gatorade are you drinking - I'm guzzling fruit punch and mango explosion! I love it extra cold!
eta: I'm a member of another mommies board and they just set up the NOVEMBER mommies due date thread!!!  I can't believe there are Nov. mommies - this is really happening!

Hey everyone....
QOTD - I wish I was craving something. I can actually eat most foods, but nothing sounds overly appealing.
Update - I just had a Dr appt today and I got to hear the H/B again...it took about 30 seconds to find it, which freaked me out. but all is well. They also did all of my bloodwork to check for Downs syndrom, other chromosomal defects, and for Nuro tubal defect. I don't know why but I am totally worried about the results. I had a fever at 6 weeks and am very concerned about a tubal defect. When I asked when I would have the results, they said "oh, we will only call you if there is a problem"...Ok, great so when will I know everything is OK!?!? I told them I will call to bug them on Tuesday if I have not heard anything..they said that is fine. It is just so weird. Was anyone else totally worried about this testing?
Also....my Dr scheduled an U/S at a neo-natal office that specializes in High risk pregnancy. It is something she does for all patients, since the office has more advanced U/S machines then the average clinic....plus, she said I will be able to find out the gender at the U/S. When she told me I was suprised...I thought I would have to wait until April! So, my BIG U/S is scheduled for March 20th. Followed by another Dr appt March 22nd!

Amy ~ I'm enjoying regular Lemon Lime gatorade these days but it might be time for a change!! I'll have to scope it out at the grocery store this weekend :) November mommies already?!
PLNUBride ~ Yay for the big u/s!! I'm thinking that mine will be right around that time too b/c I want to do it at 19 weeks. Can you believe how time is flying!?

PLNUBRIDE - We have a Dr. appt. next week and will probably get blood drawn for the triple screen test you were talking about. I am really kind of freaked out by the whole thing too. Partly because it's scary to think about our little one having a serious health problem, but I'm also freaked out about getting a false positive reading and then needing an amnio ect... You are definitely not alone in being worried.

I think it's natural to be worried about test results. I always get nervous/worried about any tests I have run. I could be totally fine and the test is just a procedure and not done for any other reason than they HAVE to. I still freak! And now that it's for the baby - major momma freak out!! :D
Yesterday was the first day I felt pregnant, and I loved it! I had extra tummy padding before I was PG (my dad asked me recently if I was showing and I said I was showing before I was PG). I see everyone's belly shot and their bellies are getting cute - mine was always like that. :( But yesterday if felt like a pregnant belly. :)
15 Weeks today!
My next midwife appointment is 3/13. With each appointment I am trying to meet with a different midwife (there are 6 at my OB's office) because its whoever is on call when you go into labor, and I'd like to be familiar with each of them. If I find one I really like as I go through my pregnancy, I'll stick with her towards the end. But I love that my ob has evening and Saturday morning appts available so I ususally take what (and who) is open.
I have a lab order for the bloodwork for my Triple/Quad screen. But I'm having a hell of a time finding out if my insurance will cover the Quad screen. The insurance co said, "we need procedure codes to look it up." No problem... called the doctor's office insurnace dept and got the procedure codes. Call insurance company back and they said "yes, you're covered if they use X, Y or Z procedure code." Great! So I call back one of the nurses and said "hey can you send me new lab orders for a quad screen instead of triple screen. But I need to have one of these procedure codes listed." Nurse says "Oh, well, we don't use procedure codes on the order." So I'm at a complete lost at how I can make sure this bloodwork and screening is covered. It's too, too complicated!!!!

Got this funny forward from my mom and thought I would share...
PREGNANCY Q & A
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?
Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.
Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.
Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

ARGH!!!!!!
I show up for my 3:45 appt. and the lady is locking the door behind me. I thought that strange, but walked up to the counter to sign in. The lady looked at me like I'd gained 20 heads. She said "can I help you" and I said I'm here for my appt. She went running off, came back and said "um, honey your appt. was at 3 oclock. WHAT????
Apparently I wrote the appt. time down wrong - they closed at 4, and so I didn't get anything today - I have to go back on MARCH 7th!!! They refuse to do another ultrasound until I'm 20 weeks.
That started a horrendous afternoon - I've been in tears because I was so irritated at myself, Tim's not feeling well, so he's been moping, and I'm.exhausted.and.ill.

Cherish - yup, picked up yet more gatorade last night! I'm getting my energy back too! Hope you had fun shopping - I did too!!!! :D
Hate to post all pics of my stuff, but I'm so excited I can't help it!
We're getting our tax refund soon, and we'd talked about using $300 of the money to buy a glider/ottoman combo. Even though we don't have that money in hand yet, I had heard here online that Kmart was having their baby sale this week. I wanted a glider to have in the nursery, but I didn't want to spend oodles of money on it b/c after kids I want a new recliner in the living room. The only one I could find with cherry wood and green cushions was a dutailer, which around here retails anywhere from $300-$500 for the glider only. The combos within our price range weren't that comfy, and I hated spending so much money on one! Well, anyway - we went and their gliders were marked down to *drum roll please* $79.99!!! I know it doesn't match the cherry wood of the rest of the furniture, but I don't care at this point! wootwoot! (It will go in the corner, I just couldn't move the treadmill by myself! I put the thing together, but I ain't moving it alone!)

We went to get the glider and I saw this row of clearanced travel systems. This one above was marked down to $78.00!!!!!!!! I was shocked, and promptly tried out the one on display, then grabbed the second-to-last one they had. Then, I got up to the counter and the manager told me that since it was clearance, it was an ADDITIONAL 20% off!!!! I walked out of there with a travel system for $62.40 - for both the glider/ottoman and carseat/stroller it was a whopping $153.00 after tax. I stood in the line to pay and sobbed. I was so shocked that I'd gotten both for less than I'd budgeted for the glider itself! Yes, I'm the crazy lady boo-hooing in Kmart's line! I would have rather had a Graco Quattro, but I COULDN'T pass up a whole system for $30 less than just a Graco carseat!
My head is still spinning! I can't believe it! Anyway - just was so excited I had to share!

mrstim Wow, those are great deals on the travel system and glider/ottoman! How exciting! :D
Shopping was fun today! First we went to TRU and my mom bought the baby tons of clothes. LOL, she is really excited! They were 50-80% off so she got some good deals. Then we went to Target to look at cribs, but we didn't buy anything. We looked at the Peg Perego Aria while we were there, and I liked it but I really wanted a P3. We went to BRU last and got a Pack N Play for my cousin's baby shower next weekend. While we were there, my mom noticed that they had 2005 P3's for $200! That is $100 cheaper than the 2006s were. We played around with it for awhile. The snugride fits really well in it. Then my mom offered to buy it for us. Woohoo! We put it together, and one of the wheels is broken. DH called BRU and they are going to exchange the wheel for us, so it's not that big of a deal. I am so excited!

Sabriel ~ First, why does everyone call you Cherish...am I missing something? Second, yay for your generous mom and getting your stroller!! What's the deal w/ your DH's parents? How could they NOT be thrilled about your impending bundle?
jennylou ~ You're right...time has really flown now that the 1st tri is behind us. I'm hoping to make my big u/s appt this week after my Tuesday appt. Ok, since we're on the topic of strollers, I have a QOTD: What infant car seat and stroller are you planning on buying (or have already bought)?
After scouring the internet and reading Baby Bargains, etc. we (I) decided on:
Graco Infant SafeSeat (their new model that fits babies up to 30lbs or 32 inches) in Central Park:
http://www.gracobaby.com/assets/images/product/8A02CNP_s.jpg
(what do you think, too girly for a boy? it's black and white toile)
and for the initial stroller, I want the Graco Snugrider which just seems easiest:
http://www.gracobaby.com/assets/images/product/6001BCL_s.jpg
and then for when the baby outgrows the infant car seat, I just decided on the MacLaren Techno XT:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000BKX4J8.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
(sorry so big!)
Later down the road, I'll probably buy the MacLaren Volo which is really lightweight and good for travel.

Congratulations to mloveya and your BOY!

MrsTim: Awesome bargains you found! That is great!
Babylove: I have the Graco Quattro from DD, and we are planning on using it again this time! I WISH that they had the bigger one, my DD was over 26" at just over 4 months, so we were LONG out of it, but that would have lasted us a much longer time!
Sorry to those of you that I missed!
I can't believe that there is a November 2006 Thread! That means that my DD will be TWO! AND that I was just finding out that I was PG with her 2 years ago! Where has the time gone?

This weekend, we went and got DD a wagon, she loves it! DH is planning on taking her out on walks in the afternoons when they get home from work/daycare before me! We tested it out today on a family outing, and she loved it!
DD has a cold, so it might be a rough night in our house, but I am hoping that she just sleeps it off!
I have my Doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and then I will be booking the big u/s! I can't wait!
I am going away next weekend for the first time since DD was born. I am meeting my girlfriends from University in Ottawa Ontario. It should be a great time! Only 2 of the 8 know that I am PG again! I can't wait to tell them!

Hello everyone! What a busy weekend we had!
mrstim - AWESOME buys! My sister mentioned that KMart was having a baby sale. There's not one near us, but she said she was going to hit it up for some shirts/onesies for us.
Sabriel - love the stroller!!
babylove - I don't think that car seat is too girlie for a boy. I think it's cute. Besides, it's only a small area of toile, right?
duke's flygirl - Oooh a wagon! I loved my wagon. I'm sure DD is going to get a lot of miles out of it.
This weekend was so great! We went with my parents to check out furniture. We found four sets that we liked, now we just have to narrow down our choices. :) We went to USA Baby and they are having their Trimester sale. I want to find out when the next one will be. If it's going to be too late (after May) my parents said they'd buy the set now. Otherwise, they will get us the furniture at the next sale.
We looked at absolutely everything there. My mom was getting all excited - my dad too. We found a great rocker/glider. I love it because it's really wide and super comfy. A bit expensive, but my mom said she'd splurge on it for us so that I'm comfortable because I'll be sitting in it quite often.
We're definitely going to get the furniture at USA Baby, and the bedding since they have such a wide selection. I'll probably register for a lot of stuff at Target. There's no USA Baby in Illinois (where my family is) so I doubt they'll buy anything from there for us.
QOTD - I haven't really considered what car seat to get yet. Yes, I know, I'm a horrible mom. I think I may have DH do the research on that. He totally focuses on research stuff like that, so he'd definitely find a good one. Plus, I want him to be involved with all of the baby stuff too. :)

Joelle ~ You look great! Your trip sounds like a blast...it will be nice to have a weekend all to yourself! :)
Jen ~ Yay for furniture shopping! Yup, the carseat only has a little bit of toile, most of which will probably be hidden by the baby's head. The rest of the design is just black and white check.

Bit of a bummer story... Tomorrow the VP is taking all of us managers out for an appreciation dinner. We're going to the best steak house in Milwaukee. Problem - tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and I'm Catholic. I am so craving steaks and I CAN'T partake :( I'm hoping they'll have some sort of seafood on the menu. Babylove —I don’t think that seat’s too girly. If anything carseats and strollers tend to skew masculine: lots of blues, blacks and greens.
Joelle —It’s cool that you’re due so close to your anniversary. Thanks for the belly pic—are you in maternity? I am.
Sabrielle —Sorry to hear your m/s is back! That’s not fair when you’re in 2nd tri!
Jen —Ugh, how rough to be unable to have the steak. Can you ask anyone about the menu to be sure?
Bree —Good luck at your u/s! I hope baby shows you the “goods.” :p
QOTD: What infant car seat and stroller are you planning on buying (or have already bought)? We’re going to re-use the Graco seat we bought for DS. Since it’s only 3 years old it’s still allowed. Just my 2 cents on the topic: getting a lift-out seat (with a base) was really nice. Those convertible seats look tempting b/c you can use them for longer, but there were so many times we didn’t have to wake a sleeping baby when we could just take the car seat into the house/restaurant. My BIL gave us that great tip.
Our stroller is also Graco, which makes it a “system.” We used the stroller for a busy 2 years, both inside and outside.
Congrats to everyone who has their big u/s scheduled. I feel so “behind” sometimes, being due at the end of the month.
Got DH to take another belly shot, which I emailed to the grandparents. They live a few states away, so they know I'm pg but they hadn't seen that I am. Seeing is believing.

Ashley - your belly is so cute!!
I got confirmation that seafood is on the menu at the steakhouse! The VP sent out an email saying she now realizes it's Ash Wednesday and there is fish on the menu. Hopefully stuff I can eat! But, I'd imagine things like shrimp, lobster or crab are pretty high end and go well with steak. :)

Belly Shot:
So I haven't posted a belly shot in here yet. Mainly because it wasn't "round" enough. But what the heck...here it is!
17w, 6d!

Ashley - great belly shot!
Chimichanga - lobster or crab legs sound yummy! Of course I'd like anything dipped in drawn butter. :)
Tuesdayschild - I feel behind too. I'm due 8/26. You aren't alone.
cocoa-femme - The BIG ultrasound is tomorrow. How exciting!! Are you going to find out the gender at the office? I think I'll have the ultrasound tech put it in an envelope, then DH & I can go to dinner and open it.
QOTD: We are going to use the Graco travel system we had for DD.

Hello everyone! Too overwhelming to try for s/o's - just wanted to say that everyone is looking fabulous and so glad that everyone is doing well!
Tuesdayschild - we are due date buddies - I feel just as far as behind as you do!!! Just wanted to say that you aren't alone! :)
I am feeling pretty good, the exhaustion has definitely gotten better. Although I was SOOO exhausted with DS so this isn't that bad. I still have no feelings if it's a boy or a girl! It changes daily - will find out soon enough! :)
QOTD - We have a travel system that we had for DS that we will probably end up using. I haven't decided yet if we will look for a double stroller. I don't know how long he will sit in the stroller, he already would prefer to walk. Obviously we have some more time to think about it. I'm trying not to think too much about ANYTHING until we find out if it's a boy or a girl. My DS and the new baby will have a Jack-n-jill bathroom in our new house - each of them will have their own sink and then in the middle will be the tub/shower and toilet. I'm having fun thinking of how to decorate it but obviously it will all determine what it is in there!
Good luck to those of you with your ultrasounds coming up!! I can't wait to hear how it went and see pictures! I still have almost 5 more weeks to wait - UGH!

Tuesdayschild-I hear you at being due at the end. One of my first thought when I saw my EDD was about the thread and how I would be be behind everyone. Ah, CC rules my life. You never know though, you could go earlier than you think!
Chimichanga and KKay-Thanks!
cocoa_femme-I already said it, but I'll say it again...Boy, boy boy! :) You look so good by the way. All baby!
I finally thought of a new QOTD...Who do you want in the room during labor and delivery?
We had a "full house" for #1. DH, Sister, Mom, Dad, FIL & MIL. I would love to do that again. It will depend on my new doc and who I can get to watch DD.
jennylou
02-28-2006, 12:46 PM
QOTD...Who do you want in the room during labor and delivery?
Just as with #1 - no one but DH and I. I guess I don't mind so much if some people come up during the early part of labor, but at around five hours into labor I remember turning off the tv, closing the blinds, etc. I didn't want any noise at all, so I think people would have annoyed me.

Thanks, Ashley! You're lookin' good too! I say GIRL for you!
QOTD...Who do you want in the room during labor and delivery?
I know I want DH - obviously :). I'm still debating on my mom. I guess it depends on what time I go into labor .
Chimichanga
02-28-2006, 01:09 PM
QOTD: The doctor and the nurse. DH I suppose ;) Seriously, I don't know if I'd want anyone else in there. maybe my mom because she actually does a really good job of keeping me sane. Definitely NOT my inlaws. They don't need to be seeing my va-jay-jay (thanks Gray's Anatomy!!)!! Neither does my dad! He saw it when I was a baby; and I think that's just fine.
I don't really want to give a free show to my sister or my SILs either :p
QOTD: DH and I. I don't mind my parents or in-laws being there when I'm in early labor, but I don't want them in the room when I deliver. I need to be able to focus on delivering the baby, not calming down worry-wart parents (mine) or pushy parents (DHs).
K&H's mommy
02-28-2006, 01:30 PM
QOTD - Just DH. My mom was there when I had my first as was DD's dad. When I was having DS my mom showed up early with my DD with her (who was almost 9) and I asked them to leave. I didn't want DD to see me in pain and I knew it would be a long night. Besides, towards the end there it isn't the place for lots of people around - at least for ME. I remember the nurse talking to Brad and them talking about the football game annoyed the crap out of me, I wanted them both to just shut-up. I think I would go psycho if there was a party in my room, LOL!

I am still on vacation, but checking in quickly between pool time and dinner :) I haven't had a chance to catch up, but will do that when we get home tomorrow.
I have been having so much fun being pregnant around all of our friends. We also got to witness first hand the idea of NOT comparing 2 kids - there were 2 babies at the wedding, 4 weeks apart, one a little over 9 months and the other 8+ and they were extremely far apart developmentally. The 9 month old boy was standing and teetering (though not crawling) and his parents had him dressed all in little boy clothes - he looked and acted way beyond what I would typically think of 9 months. And our friends 8 month old is the most adorable little chunker. She definitely looks and acts like a baby. She's sitting up, but not rolling or moving on her own at all. Both are obviously what is considered normal for their age, but I felt bad for our friends because so many people were comparing their daughter to the little boy when they shouldn't have.
My alergies down here in Florida have been kicking my butt. Before this trip I think I had sneezed once or twice. I have been having lots of sneezing fits. Poor little thing. I've also been taking sudafed like it is going out of style.
Tomorrow we are back to the cold and Thursday is the big ultrasound. Right now they are calling for snow on Thursday - but hopefully not too much to safely get to the hospital.
QOTD - DH obviously. I am contemplating my mom. Our hospital literature says they are quite strict about only 2 people in L&D and there is no waiting room. We'll try to find out how strict they really are when we take the tour.

I so badly want to do SO's but I will be late for work! I just want to drop off the one good u/s pic I was able to get yesterday at my appointment. Everything is perfect. HB was 136 bpm. Truman is growing like a weed and ahead of schedule (though my EDD is staying the same). We were able to get a shot of the goods, but the dr still won't bet the farm on the sex until the big u/s.

Real quick...QOTD: As long as I'm feeling ok (read: epidural is in place!), the parents and ILs can be in the room. As soon as I have to push, everyone is O-U-T except for DH and I.
ETA: My next OB appointment is on March 28th and the big ultrasound is on March 27th.

QOTD: DH will be there for sure. My Mom has expressed that she'd really like to be there but I'm just not sure how it's going to work out. She is about an 8 hour drive away from us - it seems like it would require some pretty lucky timing for her to make it here for the delivery. Because all our family lives at least 8 hours away, DH and I have already talked about not wanting a bunch of people camped out at our house for weeks waiting for me to go into labor. We'll see what happens I guess.
We have a Dr. appt. on Friday. I think it will just be blood work and a weigh-in. I am dying to schedule the big ultrasound!! Can't wait! :)

Okay, so my BIG u/s was schedule for Tuesday the 28th, BUT I just found out the at my mom is going to be out of town that whole week. She really wants to be there. So I have to call and reschedule. I would've been 19 weeks that day. Should I ask to reschedule for the previous Friday and be just over 18 weeks or push it back to the next week...20 weeks? :( I don't want to wait another week, but I also don't want to risk not being sure about the sex. What would you do?
babylove
03-01-2006, 08:03 AM
Ashley....honestly, I would schedule it for the following week (reluctantly). I know what you mean about not wanting to wait, but my dr has told me that the u/s techs get better pics at 19 or 20 weeks, rather than 18 weeks. It's a bummer to have to wait another week, but I would just do it, rather than risk not being able to see everything you need to see at 18 weeks.
So, is anyone here on LJ? I'm macee over there and would love to friend my August 2006 mama friends.....

Ashley I would definitely wait another week and schedule it at 20 weeks. I have read that they are better able to see everything that they need at at 20 weeks.

jesseybell Hope you are having fun on vacation! Sorry that your allergies are acting up. Yuck!
QOTD...Who do you want in the room during labor and delivery? I think I will be okay with people being there when I am in labor as long as they don't annoy me. :p When I am pushing I really want everyone out of the room except DH. I know my mom will be upset about that, but I think it will be best for me.

Thanks to my due date buddies, Kkay, K&H’s mommy, and Ashley!! I'm getting to the milestones later but I will go early; I’ll probably be one of the first to deliver. DS was born 5 weeks early and we are really anxious that I might go into preterm labor again. I had to do 3 weeks of hospital bedrest (the hardest time of my life). We’re just trying to hang in there until August 1.
Bree--Great belly shot, thanks! And congrats on having a BOY.
QOTD...Who do you want in the room during labor and delivery? Just DH. It’ll be a repeat c-section so….no one wants to see that. We might have grandparents in the waiting room if it’s scheduled right.

Congrats on your boy, Cocoa!
QOTD- I don't think I'll mind people (our parents and family) coming and going throughout the early stages of labor, but when it comes down to pushing and the real nitty gritty, probably just my husband.
Earlier QOTDs about travel systems, car seats, strollers, etc. have left me feeling like I'm really behind the ball. We haven't looked into any of this stuff yet. My husband does not respond well with thinking too far ahead (which is odd because he has a career as a planner). If I would say something like "What do yout think about names" or "What kind of car seat do you think we should register for?" I would get a response of "What? Already?"
I've learned to pace myself with him when it comes to things like this and don;\'t expect him to be too excited too early. But I mentioned that once April hits we have to get serious about these things.

Although they can often tell the sex sooner, it is better to wait until around 20 weeks. Not because the goods will be easier to see, but because this is an anatomy check. They'll be checking on things like the heart, brain, kidneys, etc.

Cocoa...Congrats on your baby BOY... The U/S pic is very clear...:). How exciting. Now you can start all the real fun decorating:)
As far as QOTD: The Delivery room. I am pretty sure it will just be DH and I. I had always envisioned calling the family after the baby arrives (that way they are not all camped at the hospital trying to get in the room), but that might be a bit mean:). So, they are more than welcome to be at the hospital, just not in my room.

We made it back from florida safe and sound. Tomorrow I should have a pic of me dressed for the wedding. DH took a picture of me in my bathing suit but looking at it I just look fat :(
I am very anxious about tomorrow. I will be 18w3d according to them. They told me that if they can't see everything really well then they will have me come back in a week or 2. They wanted to do it at 18w since I am 35 and if it is advisable for me to have an amnio, it needs to be done soon.
I am not banking on the fact that we may be able to find out the sex, but I am excited to think that we might be able to!

Jessey - GL with your ultrasound tomorrow. :) Can't wait to see pictures!
tennjane - did you put the fake belly on to try things on?
E&O - Don't feel bad about not knowing which stuff you're going to buy yet. You've got lots of time yet and you'll figure it all out. My husband tries to wait until the last minute to make decisions too. One thing that got the ball rolling last time was telling him that depending upon the crib we chose it could take up to 12 weeks to get in. That seemed to get him going and realizing that we needed to start getting some things done. When we went to look at cribs I suckered him into picking the carseat/stroller combo. ;) He's been very reluctant to talk about things like names this time, so I only push a bit at a time.

I had my Doctor's appointment yesterday, and things are looking good. I am not happy with the 5 pound gain since my last appointment. Baby D's HB was 154 bpm, my BP was 110/60 that is much better that it was BEFORE PG! I am measuring 20 weeks fundal height already, but am 17 weeks today!
I also had the blood drawn for my Maternal Serum Screening. I should get the results at my next Dr's appointment.
My next Doctor's Appointment is 29 March 06
My big u/s appointment is 14 March 06! I will be 18weeks 5 days at the time. They wouldn't book it later. I'm okay with it, I just really hope that baby shows the goods!
QOTD Delivery Room: Just me, DH and the medical team. I have to have a repeat C-Section. I was VERY happy last time when it was just DH and I in the labour/delivery room before they took me to the OR.

babylove - What is wrong with people?! I like jennylou's ideas - I swear since I've become prego my polite filter has partially turned off. I find myself saying things I normally wouldn't - not mean, just telling people exaclty how I feel. If I had to guess, I'd say the woman you work with said something like that because she's insecure - you probably look much more beautiful pregnant than she does on a normal day. :)
Alright - I have a question of the day.
QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth?
Duke and I have been discussing this lately. I know that my mom and his mom are going to want to come stay with us as soon as the baby is born. The hard thing is they will have to travel from FL to TN so we won't be able to just send them home at the end of the day. Part of me thinks having my mom here to help would be nice, and part of me thinks Duke and I will just want to get the hang of everything and bond on our own for a few weeks. Anyone else been discussing this?

QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth?
Ugh, this one has been bothering me. My ILs were out in CA in January and saw my parents. I normally love my ILs but I was NOT pleased to learn that they invited my parents to come back. :( MIL wanted to throw me another shower, which I put the kabosh on, so I told her we could have a meet the baby party afterwards. Well, she decided that Labor Day weekend would be a good time and told my parents to plan their trip then. This upsets me for more reasons than I could even name. They came back for Andrew's funeral and let's just say that I was not pleased with some of the crap that they pulled. Things like constantly harping on me to go back to CA with them (gee no thanks, I think I'd like to be with my husband!), my dad driving my car while drinking (I kept telling my stepmom not to let him and she would say, "oh he's not even drunk, he drinks way more and drives all the time".) Anyways, I wanted my mom to come out for the meet the baby party. And now, they know about it, so if I don't invite them I'll be given all sorts of shit about it. My mom and they do not get along, so no, I do not want all of them around. In fact, I could live without my dad and stepmom coming at all. Unfortunately, mil talked up this party and now they are expecting to come to it and to visit. MIL just said, "oh, well it was a weird time, I'm sure they won't get on your nerves this time". Yeah, well now I think I won't have the flippin party and she can be upset.

Patiently waiting to leave and drinking my oj so hopefully baby is nice and awake.
QOTD - We are struggling with this as well, though our families are small and close friends are far away so we may not have a big issue. MIL lives in FL so we will probably have her fly up at the end of August/beginning of September. My parents will probably understand if we ask them to stay away for at least the first couple of days. Not sure what FIL will want to do - I'd like them to come visit in the hospital but then not come back for a week or 2. I was watching 'bringing home baby' this morning and within hours they had a houseful. I am not sure if this is just for the show, but having 10 people in my house so quickly is not what I want at all!

UGh to the rude people!
I am just popping in quickly to say that my u/s has been changed to the 23 March 06 now! I'm actually okay with it, I will be exactly 20 weeks then!
I'm off to finish packing while Ryleigh is napping!
Have a great weekend all!

QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth?
Thankfully, my parents live in the next city over (only three miles away). But my MIL lives in Dallas with my BIL and his two kids. I've already told my DH that I don't want them coming to stay with us, until at least Christmas. That should give us enough time to get our bearings and get used to having our little man around. He originally wanted them to come for Thanksgiving, but I told him that was too soon. He thinks I'm being silly and that one month won't make a difference. I pulled the "I'm the one carrying the baby" card, and he saw things my way :). I don't even know if I can handle it then . MIL can be a handful.
QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth?
All of our family lives within 30 minutes of us. I'm sure we will have a house full of people just like we did with DD. I actually didn't mind, but there are a few days we went incognito and told people that we weren't answering the door or phone for anybody. Everybody seemed to understand.

QOTD: I'm so glad to hear that I'm not weird or antisocial. So many people love that part of the experience. But both of our families can be overbearing. People are already planning to come and stay for weeks. With us! And with this being the first grandchild on both sides, the "excitement" is already getting a little scary. I don't know why people think entertaining out-of-town guests and taking care of a newborn go hand-in-hand.

cocoa_femme LOL, I love your comeback!
QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth? I really don't want anyone to stay with us. My mom wants to take off 2 weeks when the baby is born to stay with us, but I really want it to be just DH and I. I will only be able to take off about 6 weeks after the baby is born, so I think I have convinced her to take the next 2 weeks off to take care of the baby so that s/he will not have to go to daycare quite so soon. I don't think the ILs or my dad will bother us too much. I don't mind if people stop by now in then though.

QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth? - no way. I was very adament with this with my son even though my ILs showed up at our house with a suitcase hinting to stay over. They only live 1.5 hours away. They were sad when we sent them home. Those first couple of weeks are hard. You are tired and sleep deprived, trying to get the hang of breastfeeding. I always had to run into Kyle's room to feed him when people would just stop by for a few hours. I hated that. Plus I would try and take Kyle from people to say that I needed to feed him and they would say stuff like "oh he's fine, I want to hold him" or if he made any sound "he's hungry, maybe you're not producing enough milk." Crap like that pissed me off REALLY quickly.
I don't mind PLANNED visits, but only for a short time. I was a hard ass though. I didn't even want visitors in the hospital because (and you girls will see this) they will STAY forever even when you are dying to take a nap. I was very selfish but decided the first couple weeks are all about me, my baby and my family - everyone else can wait their turn.
Sabriel - hope your dentist appointment goes well, I just had one on Tuesday. I had the most HORRIBLE pregnancy gingivitis the last time, ugh. I'm going to make sure to stay on top of it this time!
babylove - ew what witch. Can you give her some annoying project to do? ;) I would have kept harping on it. Next time I saw her and she looked at me said something like "oh don't look at my fat face, I know how much it's bothering you." She should get the hint and watch her mouth next time. Oh and we are moving when the new house is done - supposed to be July or August. We really timed that well, didn't we?

Tracee-I hope you are feeling better! Yes, I did have all those people in the room. The only reason was that I got to witness my b/f give birth and it changed my life. I wanted everyone else to get to experience that too. Luckily, I had a pretty laid back labor and delivery, so it wasn't too stressful.
QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth?
Both sides live here. So, while we will have a lot of visitors, probably no house guest. Although, I for one would LOVE my mom or MIL to stay the night and help me out. I was so tired and cranky those first few weeks. DH sleeps like a freakin' log.
Ths thread is moving so quickly, I can barely keep up with everyone's news. Congrats to all mommies who have found out the gender and good luck to those with the big ultrasound coming up!
We have our last big trip booked - a week in Bermuda come April - YAY!
QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth? - YES! My mother will be coming to stay with us for 2-3 weeks after baby #2 arrives. She did this with DS and I have to tell you, I appreciated every minute of it. I know we are lucky because she is extremely supportive and aware of boundaries, especially with parenting issues. Her presence allowed DH and I to sleep uninterrupted through many nights. She made the two of us go out for some dinners and movies as well - to reconnect as a couple.

I am stopping the string of boys because it is a GIRL!!!
The Big U/S went really well. Drinking OJ really helped her be really active - we got to see the 2 lobes of the brain, all the chambers of the heart, all the little finger and feet bones. Everything! Finally she went to go see what it was and said she was 90% sure it was a girl. Then the radiologist came in and took a look and without knowing what the technician said, she said it was a girl.
It looks like we won't need an amnio, but we'll discuss that with my doctor next week.
Also, the placenta has already moved, so no more placenta previa.
They gave us 6 pictures, but they were pretty much all the same - the profile and they are all on the same page so probably wouldn't scan very well.
The baby was measuring at 17.9 weeks, which is more in line with what I have thought. 17.9 weeks would put us at about 8/4, but there was no talk about officially changing my due date from 7/31. So sometimes when people ask I just say "The first week in August".
I know DH is slightly disappointed, but he is getting used to it and he has a lot of friends who have girls. He's been going around telling everyone "Now I don't need to worry about 1 penis, I need to worry about all penises". I keep telling him that while I am a girl, I wasn't a girly girly either, so it will be a learning experience for us both. I guess we better start the wedding fund now!
Looking at our BDing, we definitely fit the bill for a girl, since most of ours was before O.

Ashley ~ I wish I could stay away from her, but unfortuantely she is my secretary!
Jen ~ I think she just feels like we are friends like that and it's ok for her to speak her mind. Ummm...no.
Cherish ~ I'm glad you admitted that you would have cried. I felt so stupid, even though no one saw.
Laura ~ I wish I knew how to switch off my polite filter for people like her! LOL! You're so sweet. *blushing*
Bree ~ Did you really say that?! You rock!!!
cosmic ~ Welcome!
Sara ~ Oh yes, I will be giving her plenty of annoying projects to do from now on...right at 4:25pm, five minutes before her day ends ;) Wow...you'll have a hectic summer!
Ashley X2 ~ That's so amazing that you wanted other people to experience childbirth! I bet your family really appreciated being a part of it.
LTJC ~ Yay for Bermuda! I'm so jealous!

QOTD: Houseguests - Since all of our immediate family lives in town, we probably won't have any overnight guests. However, my mom is going to stay over for the first few nights/week to help me rather than me hire a baby nurse (yes, people do that around here...no comment). Other than that, I'm sure we will have a constant stream of visitors during the day.

QOTD No, I don't think we'll have houseguests immediately after the baby is born. MIL will want to, but I can't handle her 24 hours a day. My mom is planning to come up for 2-3 weeks after the baby is born. But, they *may* be in Vegas when the baby is born (if the kid comes on the due date) so DH and I will have a few weeks to ourselves then my mom will come to help out.
My mom's pretty cool. She respects boundaries and understands our philosophy - or at least what we think we want at this time. She's excited to take the baby for walks so I can get a nap in - and I think a few days of no sleep and I'll be ready for her to come.
*********
Last night I woke up with this horrible pain in my left hip. I think I pulled a muscle or something. i seriously could not lift my left leg at all. Even sleeping on my right side was painful. I was up for like three hours last night. Finally I said screw this and slept on my back.
Does anyone have any exercises I can do or something? It still hurts like the dickens but I can walk on it - limping but okay. Is this normal or should I call the doctor?

Cosmic - Welcome to our group:)
Chimichanga - I am not sure about whether that pain is normal....however, with our bodies going through so much change, it might just be. BUt I would say if it persists it doesn't hurt to call the Dr.
Little update - I got the call from the Dr office (well, I actually called them and asked them to call me) and my bloodwork came back just fine. I am so excited to hear that:)
Today I just submitted my timecard and in the last 7 days I have logged 22.5 hours of OT!!! My DH was very angry with me last night when I got home. I thinks I am not taking care of myself and the baby. I see his concern, but I had no choice. Please tell me that there are other here that are pregnant that have busy weeks at work. Not that I want to do it all the time, but once in a while is not going to harm the baby is it? he said that if OT is expected at my job he said he is willing to work more hours (already works 10-15 OT/wk) so I can stay home and take care of myself and just relax. Sweet suggestion I guess....he is very serious about this
QOTD: Well, my parents will hopefully live in the same city by the time the baby is born and they would never expect/want to stay with us while a newborn is around. My IL's on the other hand will be coming into town. They will probably book a hotel...although I feel a little bad about that. I kind of feel I should at least offer (or maybe have my parents offer their guest room), but at the same time I KNOW I will want it to be just DH and baby for the first couple of days. It is good to see what other have in mind:)
Ok...back to work:)

PLNUBride - right now I'm not working OT, but when I was first pregnant, I was working about 20 hours of OT a week -- and SUPER stressed.
I should be picking the OT back up here soon as the workload increases before the end of the quarter. Not too much I can do about it, but I do have a helper this time around so it shouldn't be that bad.
DH is also upset anytime I work OT, but he does understand it. I *could* get stuff done in 8 hours, but I'd be so much more stressed that OT is actually better for my mental health.

Now that I have more than 30 seconds to type... :)
Jen - Mmmm. Maybe you pulled a muscle? I'd guess it's a little early for sciatic pain, but maybe that could be it, too. Hope it's better! I know how much that sucks. I have arthritis in my knees and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with my knees locked and I can't unlock them without a LOT of pain!
PLNU - Wow, that's a lot of OT!
Cosmic - Welcome!
Cocoa - Yuck. 18 degrees.
Jessey - Congrats on your girl! Girls are so fun!
Darn, I can't see anymore posts on this page....
QOTD - Probably not [I]right[I] after the baby is born, but after a few weeks (and only after time passes because my mom is on the other side of the country and can't come right away). Our perspective: We didn't have anyone come until DD was a few weeks old and kinda, in hindsight, wish we had. Not to help care for DD necessarily, but definitely to cook and clean for us. ALL of that stuff goes by the wayside.

Sabriel - yay for looking PG
jesseybell - I know what you mean. I keep wanting to buy so much stuff, but I've been told to hold off because I won't need to buy any thing for the kid until it's like a year old or so ;)
This weekend I got a few more materity clothes. I'm starting to feel PG - which is a good thing. I noticed the weirded thing yesterday -- my bellybutton is getting bigger. Normally, I could fit my pinkie in there (not that I always do that, but you know). Now I can fit my index finger in my bellybutton. :D

Woke up yesterday with an awful cold. UGHHH! I just want to crawl back in bed. I wish I could take some drugs! :)
So, when I walk I feel this baby really low. Like so low I feel like it is going to fall out of me. I have this pressue "down there". Nothing painful, but it scares me. I didn't feel like this until the end last time. Do you think this is worth calling the doc over or am I being silly?

PLNU - Sorry you're having to work so much! Extra money is good for the baby fund, though, right?! I wouldn't offer my house - even to my parents it's sometimes good to send them home! ;)
Cosmic - Welcome to our little slice of heaven in pregnancy - we can gripe, talk, whine, and nobody cares!! I love it!
Jen - Ouch! Sorry you're in so much pain! My doctor told me with my back pain to use a heating pad on low, take hot baths, and you can take some tylenol to help relieve, but I'd also mention it to my doctor as well! Get better soon!
Ashley - Sorry you're fighting a cold! I woke up this morning with one, I totally feel for you! I'd mention the pressure as well - our poor ins. company pays them plenty so I ask all the questions I feel like asking!
Jenny - YAY on finding out - I can't wait either! Thanks for the heads up on Shutterfly.
I thought I'd Repost my belly shots - I've spent the weekend feeling really, really fat. I can't see my toes anymore. It'll only get worse!! Hi ladies - glad to hear everyone is doing well. I threw a baby shower for a coworker this weekend and it was tons of fun! It was great to see all the stuff she got! Just a helpful hint, don't register for blankets, onesies or clothes when the time comes. You will get a TON of it!

QOTD houseguests—We’re probably going to have parents immediately after the birth. We live a few states away from our families and they come out to spend a week (each) with us every summer, so we’re used to staying together. The help is just so humongous and it’s important for them to come meet their grandchild as soon as possible. Not sure what the schedule’s going to be, but it’ll probably be my parents the first week, IL the following or 3rd week.
Here’s the “worst” thing that happened w/parents after DS was born. I had saved all my old, stretched-out underwear to wear during the post-partum time when you’re still bleeding. Well my mom did laundry for us, and she pulled out all those pairs and bought new underwear in my pre-pregnancy size. UGH I told her she shouldn’t have done that but she misunderstood and just said, “you’re welcome” and gave me a big hug.
Welcome, Cosmic!
Ashley—I often feel the baby is low: it’s like a little lead weight I’m carrying around. But it doesn’t feel like it’s falling out. Is your next appointment soon? Maybe you could call and ask a nurse.
Mrstim—I wouldn’t say you’re especially low. It’s still early to judge something like that b/c our uteruses haven’t even expanded up yet. I’m going to guess it’s a girl. BH are weird!! I remember being surprised last time at how early they started.
Marie—Welcome back!
K&H’s mommy—OMG you look great: still so small! I was in maternity by the end of first tri w/this pg b/c of all the weight. It doesn’t bother me at all: I’m pg so I welcome pg clothes.

Quick post to Ashley cuz we need to run -- I've carried super low both times. Some days it DOES literally feel like he/she is going to fall out. It was the same with DD. And both times, my OB has said it's just normal for some women to feel like there's a bowling ball in there. Remember that you gave birth 'recently' so your muscles in there aren't as toned as they once were, so it's not too surprising that you're lower. If you're worried call your doc, of course, but my guess is that they'll tell you what I just said. :)

Anyone else feel like they are still suffering from 1st tri exhaustion? I've suffered a relapse, it seems. I had a few good weeks of staying up "late" but for the last few nights I've been b.e.a.t. I had to seriously force myself to stay up until 8:30! My BF had a baby last week and I've been in absolute heaven hanging out with her and her new son...he is so precious! It makes this whole pgcy seem real...I can't wait until August!!
I can't believe it but I'm wearing a non-maternity suit today. Of course, it's supposed to be worn low, below the hips, but the waist is way up over my belly! And the jacket won't button...but I needed something for court today
We haven't told everyone that Truman is a boy, and it is so funny to hear people's comments. K's mom's friend said that she is positive that we are having a boy b/c I'm all belly and my faced hasn't changed at all... :) She'll be glad to know that she is right! :p

AJ - forgot to chime in. I felt like that with DS last time. Everytime I stood up it REALLY bugged me. I was told it's normal too.
babylove - I NEVER got rid of the stupid exhaustion with my last pregnancy. I kept waiting for the GREAT second trimester where I would have lots of energy and it never came!!! Maybe it's because you are having a boy and it's your body's way of telling you to get used to being tired all the time because boys RUN around a lot - ha ha!!
Tuesdays child - thanks! I was looking at pics from my DS at 15 weeks and I was way bigger? I actually weigh more now than I did with him so not sure where that weight is (I think my thighs...he he). LOL at your underwear story. I have mine from last time too that I wore. I actually LIKED those underwear - big and comfy, pregnancy just gave me an excuse to wear them!! :)
Headaches - Does anyone else get them? Since about 10 weeks on I have been getting the most horrible headaches. Sometimes they go away for a couple days and then I will have 3 days in a row of headaches. Frustrating. I didn't have these with my other two kids.

I can't believe everyone is finding out already what they are having. I can't wait. I won't know for another five weeks. My next apppointment is March 21st. But its not the big one.
QOTD: Do you plan on having any houseguests immediately before or after your birth? Both our parents live locally and I am sure they will be visiting every day after the baby is born. Especially my parents since its the first grandchild. My mother is already planning on being with me every day on my last month. I just hope she doesn't drive me crazy.
Here is my 15w picture.

New QOTD: For those of you who are having showers...when will you have them?

Sara ~ Thanks for weighing in on the exhaustion...boo. Although, I must say, I sleep like a log at night (save for 3-4 potty trips!).
jarocha ~ That pic is so tiny! But you look great!
QOTD: No shower for me. Us Jewish folks are a bit superstitious about all things baby...so you don't hear about too many Jewish women having showers. But since I'm having a boy, we will be having a circumcision ceremony (a bris) eight days after he is born and that's when people give gifts. I'm kind of bummed about not having a shower, but also relieved that I won't have to deal with the circus that was my bridal shower!
TMI question....I'm actually embarrassed to ask this...does anyone have really stretchy egg white-like discharge? I read in one of my books that normal pgcy discharge can range from watery to creamy to egg white, but I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced the resurgence of EWCM!

I have felt before pressure down below and everything has been fine - I have finally equated it to when I have constipation (which unfortunately has rendered its ugly head again - travelling threw me out of wack and I haven't gotten back). I've had my cervix checked so many times that I know everything is okay. But there are times when I get that feeling of (tmi ahead) of when you don't put a tampon in far enough and it feels like it is going to fall out.
I will be waiting for 24 weeks to buy anything, as much as it is killing me not to buy anything. I know my BF did buy at least the mobile for our nursery. Who knows what she's done now that she knows it is a girl.
QOTD - I will most likely not be having a shower. Honestly, I don't have a ton of close female friends. And as for our families, my step-MIL is in VT and all the rest of DH's female family is in Florida and they wouldn't come up except for after the baby is born. But we will be registering at BRU so friends/family can send us gifts - If DH's family doesn't want to just buy something off the registry, we will have them send us BRU gift cards and we'll buy the stuff (which honestly I kind of would prefer).
As for the timing, I wouldn't want to do anything until June.

YES!!! That is exactly what I am feeling. I feel like walking around with my hand "down there" pushing it up. Do you think my co-workers would care? :D LOL! I am glad I am not the only one.
QOTD-Not doing a shower this time, but last time we had one about 1.5 months before the EDD and one about a month before. They were lots of fun!

QOTD: Showers: I'm usre I'll have at least 2. My dad's family and then my church family will do them, I'm sure. I don't have a clue - maybe in June as well?
Other QOTD: People: Both IL's and my parents live within 30 minutes, and I'm hoping they don't do an overnighter. As for any other guests - give us a few days, puleeze! I guess I'm a weird one - after the first few hours, I don't mind people visiting in the hospital, but when I'm home, I don't want to have to worry about entertaining, feeding, or cleaning for guests. :D

babylove, to answer your TMI question -- yes. :) Discharge varies from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy and even day to day! My OB has always said it's fine.
QOTD, no shower for me as a RO. That's not something that's done around here.

QOTD: Oh yes, I will be having showers. I'd imagine they will come in the June/July timeframe. My initial guess would be four showers (gosh do I sound greedy!) My family, DH's family, my work and DH's work.
My family won't travel to WI for a shower nor will DH's family travel to IL for a shower (wouldn't do it for the wedding). So, two showers for that. Work will throw me a small one I'm sure, and I think DH's department will throw him one. I'll be the first preggo in about 10 years there. :)

QOTD:: We just decided on a date for one of my showers this weekend! All of my and DH's family live in Florida. We'll be making a trip down there in May for my mom's retirement party (she's been teaching elementary school for 34 years  ). She and my SIL both said they'd like to throw me a shower while we're in town. So, my first shower will be on May 13th. I'm really excited! Do you think it's too early? I'm due on August 18th. I hope people will understand why it's being thrown a little earlier than usual.

Don’t have a ton of time to post…but just wanted to respond to TennJanee about the Shower. I am in a very similar situation as far as the timing of the shower goes. I am due Augus12th and it appears that more than likely I will be having my one and only shower sometime in Mid May. This is due to the fact that I recently moved from CA to NV, but most of my friends and family are in CA still, thus it will be there. I was always told that traveling in the last 8 weeks is not a good idea (so after mid-june is out). Then, my parents are selling their house in CA and plan on closing by the end of May/early June (and their house is the only feasible place to host it, although my aunt will be the true host). The last week of May my MIL will be out of town…so all this is to say that I think my shower is going to be sometime in May. I am also concerned that it is a bit early, but I am hoping that my friends/family understand and thus not be too put off by it. The way I figure it, they can either travel to NV in July or attend a CA shower in May. I figure if someone is totally offended, then they won’t attend…and I guess I would understand. ;)

Not much going on in our little world. I gave my two week notice on Friday, so I'm just counting down the time now. My last day is St Patty's Day. :D I can't wait. I'll do some very part time work for my mil, but I'll have so much more free time. Hopefully, that will translate to a cleaner house and paperwork done. :)
No showers for me.
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday! :)
QOTD- My MIL just talked to me this weekend about hosting a "couples" shower for us in June. That could be a lot of fun. And my husband even said he thought it would be cool. And my mom's family has a lot of females, so I'm sure she'll want to do another, more traditional shower.
So, on my lunch break today I'm going to have blood drawn for my Quad Screen. After several conversations with my doctor's office and insurance company, I'm still not sure if the Quad is fully covered by insurance. By my husband and I decided to just go with the test that can give the more accurate results. I have my next midwife appointment on 3/13, so hopefully they'll have the results by then- not sure how long it takes.
QOTD - Like babylove, I'm Jewish and showers are not generally thrown, given our superstitious nature. I did not have one with DS and as a RO, will not this time. Jews will usually have a bris or baby-naming (where the baby recieves their Hebrew name) after the birth when people bring presents.

I hope everyone is doing well!! A reply to the early-ish showers: if people can't understand why you're having them early, then fooey on them ;) I don't think anyone would care honestly. With a baby they can come early and then you're in a jam if you were waiting for some stuff from the shower. it's not like a wedding shower.
QOTD: Are you or your DH reading to the baby?
We started this just recently. DH found a couple of sports books and is reading them to the Tamale. Right now he's reading the History of Baseball (a kids book) and next is tales of the Stanley Cup. Yeah, this kid is going to come out of the womb ready to watch ESPN. :D

Chimichanga - You stole my QOTD idea!
QOTD- I started reading to her on Saturday night. I won't do it every night (even though I probably have enough children's books so far to take me until I deliver). I ordered a couple of more books the other night, some especially for Daddy about Daddy's little girl so he can participate as well (I also got one about girls playing hockey).
I have a question for ROs - While I think I may have felt the fluttering, for some reason I am completely freaking out about when I will feel the baby first kick. I think it is because I watch too much Sex and The City and Miranda looked like she was about the keal over the first time. I am afraid it is going to happen when I am driving and I am going to go off the road. Completely irrational fear I know. What does the baby moving feel like?

QOTD: Showers Not sure when, but it will probably be end of June or early July. We will have to do a co-ed shower since DH family is huge and the men like to participate. Both our families are local so we will just have one big one.
QOTD: Are you or your DH reading to the baby? We are not reading yet, but I do meditate a lot with the baby and I also play a clasical CD each night when we go to sleep. It actually helps us go to sleep.
jesseybell: I totally remember that episode from SATC. I hope I feel the first movement when I am at home with DH.
QOTD: Showers - I won't be having a shower (I'm a RO)
QOTD: Are you or your DH reading to the baby? - I read to DD before her bedtime every night (as a result the baby gets storytime too). We read 3stories every night. The last two are always 'The Going to Bed Book' by Sandra Boynton and 'GoodNight Moon'. We alternate the first book to give her (and me) a little variety. I always read 'Goodnight Moon' last because its her signal that she's about to go night night. She always yawns at the same point in the book. ;)
Jesseybell - The baby feels like a butterly fluttering. It's a really soft tickle. You might think it's gas or a hunger pang. We were on our way to dinner the first time I felt DD move. I thought I was anticipating my yummy dinner until I felt it a few more times throughout the night.

I hope everyone is feeling well!! :)
Today I have a dentist appointment. I know I'll be getting x-rays. I'm a bit nervous. I know I'm far enough along into my 2nd trimester, but it still worries me a bit.
But, at least I get to leave work a bit early today. Woo hoo!
