Does anyone here like to watch old movies? I feel very uneducated when it comes to classic film, so I try to mix older movies in our netflix queue. I've really enjoyed watching them -- particularly ones from the 40s and 50s, which is an era that fascinates me. (Such great clothes and design!)

So, what older movies do you like? I know that picking a year to define "older" is arbitrary, so I'll say pre-1980. :)

My favorites, so far:

It's a Wonderful Life
Streetcar Named Desire (Marlon Brando is the only actor pre-1970 that I find hot. Not handsome, but hot)
All About Eve
Vertigo

Barefoot in the Park (1967) with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford is one of my ALL-TIME favorite movies! No matter how often I see it, I still have big belly laughs over it. LOVE IT!

Dog Day Afternoon (1975) with Al Pacino as a gay bad-a$$ bank robber. It's hot, sweaty and amazing work.

I used to love when AMC actually had American Movie Classics, unlike now where I've seen Jaws 3

A few favorites of mine are:

The Enchanted Cottage (1945): Such a sweet love story
Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)
Finishing School (1934) really liked when I was younger
the original King Kong (1933)
Shall We Dance (1937) Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers
The Sheik (1921) Rudolph Valentino of course

I tend to like pre 1950 movies.

And agreed on the AMC issue. Not only is Jaws 3 not a classic, it never will be. Stop showing it.

And hokey old scifi. Soylent Green is people!
