Sorry...I don't really check the email for the group...I just didn't want to register it to my own email address. If someone had PMed me I would have told you the password...I'm moving, so I wasn't around much today or yesterday. :(

If you want the group email address and password, let me know.

I don't post much cause I suck at shout-outs, but I do drop by and read! Everyone has great photos. :)

No photos of Natalie on CC. Someone threatened to scatter pics of Natalie around the internet, so I keep them in my LJ. :(

Has anyone else been incredibly lucky with a healthy baby? MIL is shocked that DD has not so much as had a cold. We take her out and everything, but despite cold and flu season, she hasn't been sick. I say this and you know in a few days she'll be sick. :p

Natalie's 4 month WBV was this week. She weighs 13 pounds 14 ounces and is 24.5 inches. The doctor expects our infant carrier to last until September/October (30 inches or 22 pounds). Due to my own food allergies, I want to delay solids, including rice cereal, until 7 months. The doctor wants me to start rice cereal at 6 months because iron and zinc levels in BM drop at 6 months. But as I was reminded, a baby has plenty of stored up iron, so I plan to ignore the ped's advice and delay solids.

lml, don't feel bad about getting back to me!! I didn't know that you didn't check that email account. Would you like to still be a threadmisstress?

Don't worry about not posting pictures of Natalie, we all understand! It's just an option for those that would like to.

In regards to the sick baby thing, Lucas is also extremely healthy (knock on wood). He hasn't gotten sick yet, and I've caught a mild cold twice! Of course, now that I write this, he will be ill tomorrow.

Hello!!
Last night I decided to try and get some Valentines pics of Jack for the grandparents, they turned out ok, I'm going to try again today using natural light instead of the flash to see if I can get some smiles on film instead of the shocked look. These are the pics so far:

First off check this out, he pushed himself up and stood on the chair for about 30 seconds!!! His strength amazes me!!

I posted in this in the old thread right before we closed it, so I'll put it here, too, in case any of you are in the market for a convertible car seat.

Bargain alert: Target.com is selling Britax Marathon car seats for $249 with free shipping. (Suggested retail is $269!) I also found a coupon code that got me ANOTHER $25 off: TCHMFSFU or TCADVCBN. What a steal! I also shopped online through Upromise so I'll get 4% of my purchase put into Lily's college savings. I got the "Cowmooflage" pattern:

Couple of SO's from the old thread.

Lex Aww...thanks! I happen to think she is pretty beautiful too! Of course all of the babies in here are so cute! I hope you are able to post your v-day pics of Ella. those sound so cute!

Chad and Liz Great pics! I love the one of DD and daddy napping.

Thanks for all the compliments on my v-day pics. I can't wait to give DH his card.

rolling Makenzie is back to rolling all of the time now. She started rolling on New Year's Day but then she got sick and hadn't done it for a while. Now that she is feeling better, she is back to showing off her tricks!

Makenzie seems so ready to sit up, but still doesn't have the balance for it. She tries so hard though! I bet she will be sitting up within the next couple of weeks.

I don't have a great pic of Ella right now (I'm a horrible mommy, but I've been taking more video lately) but we are picking up her pics from her Valentine's Day photo shoot from the photographer today so I'll scan one and replace this one with it. But for now:

Too cute pictures of everyone's little one.

I'm jenjen0713 over on LJ. I don't get over there much because I forget about it, but if anyone wants to add me, I love to read people's journals. I really should start a journal....maybe when baby #2 comes along I will.

We got our jumperoo and got it put together. Unfortunately, DS is about 1/2 inch too short. Even on the lowest setting, his little feet don't touch the ground yet.

He has finally started to bat at objects with his hands. He has primarily been doing it with his left hand. I caught DH, holding his left arm down and trying to get him to bat with the right arm. When I asked him why he was doing that, he said our DS has to be right handed. I looked at him puzzled and asked why and he said he wouldn't know how to teach a leftie how to swing a golf club.

DS finally rolled over from tummy to back on Saturday. Only did it once and hasn't done it since then. The kid loves to look around when he is on his stomach but just has no desire to roll.

At last the cradle cap from he!! is finally going away. It was either the Gentle Naturals cradle cap treatment or Heads and Shoulders shampoo that finally did the trick. Luckily no more crusty scalp...now he jusdt look like he has a bad case of dandruff.

My lj name is lysh79. I have a journal but haven't really posted anything yet. I'm thinking of using it instead of my CC one soon, for privacy issues. I would like to read any of your journals (if you'll have me :o ), I love to read about what our kids are up to.
Kiley has been so hard to get to sleep lately. This is going to sound crazy but I have to swaddle her and bounce her on our exercise ball with my boob in her mouth to get her to go to sleep. Then I tranfer her into the crib and about 90% of the time she'll wake back up. So, we want to sleep train her this week. Anyone been through this, any advice??

Tiger
02-13-2006, 01:49 PM
lysh Good luck on the sleep training. I must admit I had to laugh at your description of how you have to put your DD to sleep.

I haven't done the sleep training yet. I was thinking I was going to have to soon, but DD has actually been sleeping better for a couple of days! She does great for us on the weekends...it is just during the week when daycare doesn't have her take a nap in the afternoons and she gets overtired.

For those bottlefeeding...how much does your DC eat at a time and how often? DD is currently eating 6 oz every 2-3 hours. Is that about right?

I talked to my best friend from highschool who moved to Michigan about a year after we graduated and she might be coming down for my birthday:D . She has family down here still, and a friend of hers is dating her cousin from here (Iowa) so they might take a road trip. tiger: carter eats 6.5oz every 4 hours. we just started doing a tblsp. of cereal once a day, so we'll see if that changes any of his eating habits.

Tiger - DS is taking 6.5-7 ounce bottles at daycare every three hours.

My DD gets 4oz bottles every 2-3 hours. I just increased that from 3.5oz last week, but I think I'm going to go to 4.5oz next week. They had been sending her home with one full bottle, but now she is eating everything so I think I better increase each bottle and not just send another.

We fall in line with everyone else with the formula... 6oz every 2.5-3 hours :)

Tomorrow's our 4 month WBV, so we may start cereal soon!

I'm scubasam05 on lj. I started a journal over there but haven't posted since the first time....as you can see by my link. lol. I need to get over there and update soon though. The primary purpose of my entries over there is kind of a diary to my son but I'm open to having visitors! I plan to print it out for him someday so he can have a history of his first year(s) and it would be fun for him to see all of my internet friends on there. Soon I'll be closing it to only friends and I'll get you all on the list. I would love to keep up w/ you guys who have journals over there if you're willing to friend me! ;)

All the baby pics are so cute you guys! I'll see if I can catch up w/ the end of the last thread to do SO's b/c I don't remember what I read (he-he).

Wanted to say a quick SO to Gabe's Mom though since you asked about our camera. We also have a digi Canon SLR (the 8mp) and honestly, I don't know how to use all the settings so I tend to use the auto setting or the portrait setting most often. The pics do come out a little fuzzy when I'm doing closeups sometimes (especially w/ a wriggly baby!) but I guess I get lucky other times.

Food - Carter has 4-6 oz every 2 1/2-3hrs. He mostly has 4 oz throughout the day and then 6 oz for the last 3 feedings. Seems to be hungrier later in the day.

On another note, his teething is back. He was doing better for awhile but the last 4 days has been a madman w/ the paci (and whatever else he get can get in his mouth!) again. Yesterday and today he's been sooooo cranky and will only nap if I'm laying down with him. I've officially got a "mama's boy" on my hands. He has a bright white bump on his bottom gum so pretty sure that tooth is going to come in soon.....well, hopefully it does (or it retreats) b/c I'm ready for my sweet boy back. Poor kid....I've tried everything from Hylands, cold wet wash cloths, cold teething rings, Tylenol, Orajel and mixing his formula w/ cold water. So far only the Hylands or Tylenol seem to give him any relief. Must be so painful and it's definitely worse than before. :(

On to something more fun......have any of you listened to the new Curious George soundtrack? It's all songs by Jack Johnson. If not, I highly reco it!! It's kid friendly songs (about sharing, making friends, recycling, etc.) w/ adult music. We listened to it over and over this weekend!

cartersmommy
02-13-2006, 03:22 PM
yes! the curious george soundtrack is awesome!! :)

i am totally buying it for Carter!! I am getting him that and one of those adorable stuffed animals from hallmark that is for v-day.... the monkey.... for valentines day! :) they are so little and will never remember this holiday, but it's too fun NOT to buy them stuff for it! :)

it sounds like Makenzie is eating about the same amount as everyone else. I just never know how much she should be eating. We started her on some rice cereal this weekend. Most of it ended up on her face, but she did pretty good.

I added everyone who posted their lj name as my friend. Maybe I can get my butt in gear and start journaling a little more.

Freakout moment: DH woke up on Sunday and said he had a nightmare that I told him I was pregnant again. Well, my face has been breaking out like crazy lately and when I went home for lunch today, I had some reddish/brownish discharge. I am on the pill and not due to start my period for another week and a half. Surely I am not pregnant again...right?!?!?!?

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! I really don't think I am pregnant. I got online earlier and put in the first day of my last period and it said the probable date of conception would have been on Saturday. I don't really remember this time a year ago too much, but I am pretty sure I didn't have any bleeding that early! Doesn't take much to scare me though!

Being pregnant again right now......oh so scary. :)

This is our first shot at editing video and posting it online and hopefully it works because our son was sooo freakin' funny tonight. DH was videotaping him roll over (a bunch of times from back to tummy!) and then sitting up. He's well on his way to mastering sitting up and is holding himself up quite well with his arms but isn't able to keep himself up for too long yet. Anyway, take a look, it will make you laugh hard! There are 2 videos.

have our appointment Saturday

eating: Alex eats 4 ounces every 2 hours during the days and sleeps from about 10pm until 7 or 8am. He eats a total of 8 bottles so he takes about 32 ounces per day. I tried at one point to give him 6 ounces instead but he just spit up more and still was hungry after 2 hours so I went back to giving him 4ounces. I was going to wait with the solids until at least 6 months but now I am wondering if I should start adding some oeatmeal to his evening bottle. He is always starving in the morning so maybe just formula is not enough for the night. He definitely is not ready for spoon feeding yet but maybe oatmeal in his bottle may be okay. I don't want to give him rice cereal because that is made from white rice and I want to start feeding him whole grains from the start and oatmeal is made from whole oats. Does anyone have any experience yet with the cereal in a bottle thing?

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! Lovin' all the adorable pictures of the babies.

DS decided to wake up at 5 and chatter away in his crib. Apparently after 15 minutes of talking to himself, he wanted someone to come talk to him so the chatter got progressively louder until he was hollering like a banshee! Good thing he is cute. Then I drop him off at the babysitters and she said she saw his picture in the paper. What??!! She pulls out the paper and DH had put a Valentine's ad in the paper with DS picture telling me I'm the best mom. Funny thing is I put an ad in the paper for DH as well!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!

DH has class tonight after work, so it'll just be me and DD here to celebrate. We've never been big on celebrating V-day, but I did get DH a card from me and another from Avery that I'll give him tomorrow. He's making me one of my favorite dinners tomorrow instead since he won't be home tonight. :)

Not sure what the heck is up with DD, but she was up every 2 hours last night. We haven't had to do that since she was 4-6 weeks old. I'm exhausted. I'm really hoping it isn't teeth yet, but the babies in my family tend to be early bloomers in that category.

jenjen: That is so funny that both you and DH did the same thing. What a cute idea!!!

Being Pregnant: I'm finally to the point where some days I miss being pregnant, but other than that the thought scares the crap out of me for now. :p

being pregnant--well no I don't want to be right now and I don't know if I want to be ever again since we have two kids. I'd LOVE a girl and would do it all again for a girl but with no guarantee right now I'm saying No--especially since Alex is such an aweful sleeper. That being said you know if there is going to be a #3 for us I'd almost rather have a oops because then I don't get much say in the matter. :)

Lorene--didn't you guys just buy a new house and you might be moving?

eating--I have no idea how much Alex eats. I pump around 15-20 ounces at work and he eats all or most of that during the day the next day then I nurse him probably 3-5 more times between when I get home and go to work the next day. He's growing like a weed so he's obviously getting enough. He eats slowly though--DH hasn't moved him above a 4 oz bottle yet because of that. I was thinking about switching to fast flow nipples to see if that would help but I'm afraid that might interfer with BFing.

cartersmommy I actually live in Colorado right now but I am originally from KS. DH and I just moved to CO a year and a half ago. All of my family is in KS (parents in Hays, brother in Topeka) though so we really want to get back there.

jenjen What a cute idea to put the ad in the paper! DD also woke up at 5:30 this morning and just wanted to talk. I finally got up and got her around 6:00.

I am sooooo frustrated with our daycare. They can't seem to get DD to take a nap in the afternoon, so she is so overtired when she gets home. She always takes an afternoon nap on the weekends for us though. The most frustrating part is that they don't seem to care when I tell them she really needs to nap more. I told the daycare director this morning and she didn't say anything at all...just changed the subject about DD rolling over. UGH!

Kansas DH interviewed with Spirit in Wichita last week, so he may be getting a job there. We haven't heard anything yet though. They'd have to offer us enough to justify selling and moving at this point though, since we did just buy a house here and just got settled into it. Plus, we live like 5 minutes from the beach now so it'd have to be good enough money to make us want to move!! Housing prices are dirt cheap there though compared to here, so that's a plus.

Lucas had his 4 month WBV today.

WBV stats:

Weight: 16 lbs, 10 ounces - 80%
Height: 26 inches - 50%
Head circ: 44 cm - 90%

Dr. said he's just perfect! We can wait until 6 months to start solids, to begin using sunscreen and bug spray when we're outside, and to stay indoors and out of crowded places as much as possible for the next month or so until flu season starts to subside.

jenjen0713
02-14-2006, 01:59 PM
being pregnant - I soooo miss it as well. I got some film developed this past weekend and it was all the belly shots I took and it made me miss that big ole belly I had! DH and I are going to start trying again this summer (yikes! that is only 4 months away). I'm hoping to be pregnant by the time DS turns one. The only downside I would have with getting pregnant again, is I don't think I would have enough sick/vacation time built up to take 12 weeks off again and I would have to get some winter maternity clothes.

tiger and lorialys - Good luck to your DHs on the potential jobs in Kansas! I like Kansas since I grew up here, but I don't know if I could move away from the beach for the flat plains. I've worked in Manhattan before and it is great town to raise a family in. Now as far as Wichita goes, don't know if I would want to raise a family there, but there are a lot of smaller towns close by that would be good for a family. And you are right, you can get a lot of home for little money.

Pregnant again? NO WAY! I have about a 100 reasons why to wait longer. Daytona keeps me on my toes enough as it is right now. (Took me 3 hours to make our valentines dinner today with all her interuptions  ) 1. I want her to be in preschool before #2 arrives so that I get alone time to be just with #2. 2. We're also on a tight budget since I've decided to SAH, so with 2 babies, it would be really tight. We could do it, but I'd rather not. 3.I also want her to be potty trained as well. I have no desire to have 2 in diapers at the same time. 4. She also has to be consistantly sleeping throught the night. I think I would also be content with just having her. Before her, I never thought I'd say that. If dh had it his way, I'd be pregnant forever, lol. 5. Oh and I also have no desire to be in maternity clothes again for a very long time. Ick! I was in them almost all last summer, so I just can't wait for this summer.

I was talking to an old teacher of mine from college a few weeks ago and she jokingly asked me if I was pregnant again. I said no way, not yet. Her response was "Why not, mine are 11 months apart." I just could not do it. She said she would have rather of just had twins, because when one is done with a stage (i.e. potty training, tantrums) the second one isn't too far from it and you have to do it all over again.

I love seeing all the pics. I tried to get a valentine pic of dd for dh, but i took it to the store and it said there were no pics on the cd  So anyways, that's dh's job, lol. Or I might just order it off of shutterfly.

QOTD - For those that are going to try for #2, are you going to try for a certain season? I told dh that I wanted a spring/summer baby next time, instead of just whenever it happens like we did last time. I'm tired of being couped up in the house, and especially with Daytona being around 3, she'll want to go out. Not too easy if it's really cold out with a newborn. He thought it was nuts to wait for something like, and that when we're ready, we should try no matter what the season. Am I the only one?

ETA:I'm sorry 1_Mommy that CIO is so hard for you guys. We've been very lucky in terms of going down to sleep and she doesn't cry more than 5 minutes tops but our issues have been that she sometimes wakes up at the 35 minutes mark during naps. I sometimes let her CIO for 20 minutes after that. I can tell by her cry though if she'll go back down or if I just need to get her but it is hard. Good luck to you. We'll probably have to start CIO some time soon for night wakings since DD still wakes up usually 2 times at night (sleeps 6:30 ish to 7:30ish am). But I keep chickening out. I have an excuse every day for why we shouldn't start. I think we'll start at 6 months if she hasn't improved on her own. I hope it gets easier for you!

same here, but i decided today that this is something i need to do. ds is sleeping in our bed and i just can't have him in there anymore. i am not getting good sleep.

after Kai crying for an hr, he has finally gone to sleep. i went into comfort him again, held his hand for a little while, then gave him a lovey. think he is to young for one? i worry about it, but he loves to hold on to something, or have something up against his face, proferably my boob ;)
hopefully he stays asleep for atleast 3 hrs, i won't go get him til the 3 hr mark hits. which is midnight. i really hope he stays down til then!

1-mommy---hang in there! i hope it works out for you tonight. quick question though, what's your reason for waking him up at midnight? i was going to suggest maybe letting him sleep through it and see how he does. if his weight is stable, i would recommend letting him sttn. good luck to you.

Yesterday was Mackenzie's 4 month check-up. He said that she was perfect and doing everything she should. She's even doing one thing early, so I was happy about that! She's now able to move a toy from one hand to another. She's only done it a few times, but it's definitely an accomplishment. She rolls, but only from her tummy to her back. She's so happy on her back that she has no desire to roll

New stats:

Weight: 14lbs 7 oz (four lbs in two months!)
Height: 24.5 in

We got the okay to start trying rice cereal. My mom wants to start today, but I think I'd rather wait until Marc's back... maybe we'll try Thursday night. She got three shots and did alright. She didn't cry for the first one, but started turning bright red and screamed with the second and third :(

QOTD--I have a Sept and a Nov baby. IF there is a #3 I really would like a summer baby. If we would start trying when Alex is 1 like we did when Colin was one I would most likely have a summer baby if we'd get pg right away (it only took two months of actual "trying" with each). However I"m not sure I want another one since Alex is such a handful. My two are 22 months apart and although I'm sure it will be great for them to play together (I'm an only child so I have no concept of this but DH is #2 out of 4) I honestly think I"d rather have them closer together (yes I did say that) or much further apart. However I also plan to not be pregnant past 35 and I'm goign to turn 34 this year so pretty much we won't space them further apart IF we decide to try for #3.

mcl i wasn't going to pick Kai up untill midnight. if he slept past that it would have been wonderful. no way i would have woke him up! :) i will pick him up every 3 hrs if needed for now. (to feed him) right now he will literally snack all night in my bed, so i want to change this!

last night was horrible, he finally fell asleep after an hr of crying, slept for about 35 minutes, then was up again crying untill a little after midnight when i went in to feed him, brought him to bed to feed him, and i was out like a light til 4am! darnit. i guess i shouldn't bring him to bed with me.

lysh - I'm glad to hear someone else is planning to try for another one this summer! We haven't told anyone IRL because I'm sure they would think we were crazy to want to have kids so close together.

1_mommy - Oh, I'm hoping his sleeping gets better!

amtaylor - What a great checkup she had! My DS is the same way about rolling..perfectly content on his back!

cartersmommy - What a great picture of Carter! I hadn't even thought to get out his bath toys for him to play with.

QOTD - I think I would like the next baby to be a spring or summer baby. I would like to be able to get out more with the baby and not worry as much about germs and illness and be able to do more walks outside. Also DH is a teacher, so it would be nice to have him around for more time to help then he was able to do with DS. The only reason I wouldn't want a baby in spring or summer is because I would have to buy more maternity clothes and if we had another boy I would have to buy all new boy clothes.

I think I need to finally pack away the 0-3 month old clothes and start pulling out the 3-6 and 6-9 month clothes. Also, I need to pull some of the toys out of the closet and start rotating them for DS.

We're going to start trying for #2 in June/July of 2007. We want our kids to be 2 to 2 1/2 years apart, and I'd like a late spring or early summer baby next time.

Being Pregnant I adored being pregnant and I think I will actually miss it this summer when I have to pour my non-pregnant big butt into regular shorts.

Seasonal Babies I would love to have a spring baby next time around. My mom told me I should have had a spring baby the first time b/c she had me in January and my brother in October and it's so hard not being able to leave the house with kids when they're little. Well since we tried for a year to conceive I was just happy to be pregnant no matter when I was due. For the next one though I would like them to be about 2 1/2 years apart so I'm looking at trying starting summer '07 like lorialys.

Being Pregnant: I loved, loved, loved every minute of being pregnant. I had a pretty easy time and really wasn't that uncomfortable even to the end.

Seasonal Babies: IF we have another child, we will try to have a late spring/early summer baby. I'm a teacher and October wasn't that great for leave. That's what we had planned on, but apparently Mackenzie had other plans

QOTD- I know it will be tough with two so close in age but I grew up with 3 brothers and all of us our 19-22 month apart. We were and still are very close and I think it's how we were raised but also because we were so close in age. We are all friends, my brothers still come over once a week and we all play board games. :) I want that for my kids. I'm not saying if your children are not close in age that they won't get along (I really wouldn't know), I just know how it was for my family growing up and I really would love my children to all be close in age also. Time of year doesn't matter for me because I live in Arizona where it is always hot.

Another QOTD- I would love to get Kiley some more toys. Which toys does your DC love??
Kiley loves these-

QOTD: We definitely won't start trying for a while. DH getting his MBA PT, so he needs to finish up and then I'll hopefully be able to stay home. Once he finishes we may be moving if he decides to look for a new job, so I want to be settled before we think about baby #2. Even if we stay in the same city, we are going to make the move to the burbs. That would be when DD is closer to 2, so Fall 2007. I agree on having a baby in the Spring/Summer so we can get out more, but I'm not so adament that I'd try to plan that way (or so I say now). :D Since Avery was more of an oops than planned, we'll see if a second oops happens too.

Favorite Toy: Avery LOVES her clutch cube, she finds it so mesmerizing.

Surf: That photo is ADORABLE! :)

Next baby - I seriously can't even begin to think about this yet. ;) We go back and forth as to whether we even want another. I would really love to try for a girl but we've also become a little selfish in that we're content w/ just Carter. There are several reasons for that but in the end, I think our unselfishness may win out b/c we'd (me especially) like for him to have a sibling. So, being as I'll be 33 this year, if we decide to have another, it'll be next year I'm sure. I just don't want to be pg after 35.

As for season? I don't know. On one hand it'd be fun to have the next one in the late spring/early summer so I could be home during nice weather, but then again, I really liked having a fall baby. It's kinda wierd but for DH & I, it seems like almost every major day for us is in the fall.....our dating anniv, our wedding anniv, my bday (which are actually all in the same week!), Carter's bday. Something about the fall has got good karma! ;) :D Plus, my work tends to be less busy during the holidays (not the casino itself, but my job in particular) so it worked great for me.

Can you tell that I'm nowhere near the point of making any decisions about baby #2?! LOL!!

Fave toy - Carter LOVES his Bugs-on-Board, which actually are very similar to ones you guys posted. Something he can grab and pull on. In fact, if he can't see them as soon as you put him in his seat, he screams.

He also REALLY likes this thing that my cousin got him:

Stats that I didn't post before:

Weight:
Birth - 6lbs, 8oz
2 month - 11lbs, 6oz
4 month - 14lbs, 8oz

Height:
Birth - 18 3/4"
2 month - 22"
4 month - 24 3/4"

Toys: Alex likes all kinds of toys but what he likes he most is if I hand him a cloth diaper. He can play with that for hours (well not quite that long but you get the idea)

Kansas: I lived in the Kansas City area (Leawood)for 5 years and loved it. Just didn't like the climate. It was either way too hot and humid or freezing cold. It seemed like we were only getting a few pleasent weeks in the spring and fall.

Pregnant: I don't miss being pregnant and I don't think it would be a good idea for me to be pregnant again right away. I had so little energy and constantly had to take naps that I feel it wouldn't be fair to Alex if I got pregnant again while he is still so little. Having said that I am turning 35 this year so I don't have all that much time left to get pregnant. So I am thinking we will most likely not have another one.

I'm trying not to be worried.....there's a message from Lily's Dr. saying they want her to come in & be tested for something. I tried to call this morning, but they're not in yet. She's just getting over an upper respiratory bug & two ear infections but seems to be doing fine, so I'm wondering what this is all about!

Surftraitor: I love looking at the photos of your little baldy! Lily is completely bald right now. It's so funny - we call her "chrome dome" and "Uncle Fester" for fun.

Next baby: I LOVED being pregnant, but oh man, this is kinda hard to think about! DH & I have discussed it briefly. We want #2 to come about 2 years after Lily, but I'd like to have a spring or summer baby next time just so we can get outdoors more often right away. It took me 4 cycles to get PG with Lily, so we'll probably start trying spring/summer '07. DH wants a little boy so badly, so if we are lucky enough to have one, I think we'll be done. If it's another little girl, we may try for #3, but that seems like a lot to me! (And I'm sure we'd just end up with 3 girls anyways!) We'll keep the sex of baby #2 a surprise as well....we had so much fun not knowing with Lily!

Favorite toy: Lily LOVES her "Learning Friend Lily" from LeapFrog that my mom got her for Christmas. You squeeze her tummy & she sings counting songs in English & Spanish. She's right next to the changing table, so we only play with her when we're dressing or changing Lily to make things more fun. Lily smiles, coos, & starts kicking her legs like crazy when she's singing!

Kansas: I live in Michigan, but since everybody's talking about Kansas, I might as well, too! We have an assembly plant in Kansas City, so 10 years ago when I was a college student, I spent the whole summer living there and working as a summer intern. I lived in the Embassy Suites in Kansas City & couldn't believe how many tornadoes you all have down there in the summer time! :p

EJM: Thank you SO much! I really appreciate it. Darn formula is so expensive!

So the Dr's message ended up not being a big deal at all! I should have known. He got a letter from the State of Michigan saying that Lily didn't have her newborn hearing test done at the hospital. They called the hospital, and they couldn't find any record of her test in their files. So they wanted me to bring her in so she could be screened. She DID have it done, though, & thank God I hung onto the paperwork to prove it. I just have to fax it to them tomorrow.

I know they have to be shady when they leave messages like that for confidentiality reasons, but it can really freak a mom out!

Favorite Toy-

Besides her Baby Einstein Exersaucer and playmat her favorite holding toy BY FAR is her Lamaza puppy dog.

She also LOVES her Baby Einstein blocks. She loves when I take the green frog block and make it buzz on her butt. She gets hysterical!

I am trying sooooo hard to avoid the Gymboree sale!!! I might end up caving since I want to buy a couple of the little sheep outfits for my gf who's having twins....her hubby is from New Zealand so the sheep fit so perfectly. And then another pg friend of mine loves frogs and was supposed to find out what she's having yesterday so I may have to buy her some of the frog stuff. And of course I'd have to get Carter a couple things too. *sigh* I'm such a sucker. DH calls me a "marketer's dream". You'd think b/c I work in marketing that I wouldn't be such a sucker. LOL.

I went to the Children's Place outlet near me on Saturday and they had a HUGE clearance on fall/winter stuff. Everything was under $3.99 so I loaded up....I spent $60 and just about completely outfited Carter for the season. It helps when everything is 12-18 months cuz they'll carry him for quite awhile. And then yesterday I bought holiday jammies from PBK online for $5.99 along w/ a couple terry cloth changing table covers that were also $5.99 a piece. Can't beat that! They're twice that much at BRU! And I think I mentioned that I bought last year shorts & swim trunks, etc. at Janie & Jack a couple weeks ago.

So, needless to say....I'm doing well at finding stuff on clearance but I have to STOP shopping!

Jen - I, too, miss that stage. Should have slept with him more at that time. Trying to make sure I get lots of cuddle time in now as i know it will only decrease as he gets older. I'm trying to get him to go to sleep on his own and usually he does well, but the other night I couldn't help but hold and snuggle him until he fell asleep in my arms. Just watched him sleep. Don't want to miss those momments so some nights, falling asleep by himself is just not going to happen and I'm ok with that.

Question: I'm thinking of switching bottle systems. Gabe is using Dr. Browns b/c we got them from my cousin and he had bad reflux/spitting up. He's doing much better but I HATE cleaning those Dr. Browns! Anyone love thier system?? Is there a system I can pump directly into a bag and then attach to the bottle? Any feedback is appreciated!

Bottles: I LOVE the playtex preminum nurser set. You can pump and store directly into the liners and they sell storage rings as well. They are simple and totally easy to clean. We just throw the liner away and put the nipples into the dishwasher :)

lysh - Holy moly!!! That is one long baby!! DS is only 24 1/4 and 12 pounds.

DS was rolling over last night from his stomach to his back. He acted like he had been doing it his whole life. DH was at work, so he didn't see it. However, SIL was there and saw it. DS was getting so excited when we would clap and cheer for him each time he rolled over. Hopefully I can get him to do it tonight for DH.

Amtaylor - Do you express and freeze milk directly into the liners with a breat pump?? If so, do they seal well for the freezer? Also, what is the ring that you mentionned?

JenJen - You are so lucky your guy is rolling! I can't wait to see Gabe roll. My guy is small too - only 12.8 pounds and 25 inches. Ped isn't worried unless he cont. to drop in the percentile. He was 25th at 2 months and now 15th but he's happy and healthy. Can't force him to eat if he doesn't want to!

Gabe's Mom: The nurser set I bought came with adapter rings, so I pumped directly into the liners. I never froze any of the milk, but I do know they sealed well because I stored them upside down in the fridge. Here's what the storage rings look like:

So much for keeping up more. Had Donnie's 4month apt.

25&1/2 inches
he is up to 17lbs 3oz = - /

For V-day we gave daddy a wallet photo thing with pics of us in it. Steve took me out to dinner, and I was away for an entire 2hrs! FIRST TIME!!! I didn't even call home to check on him.

next pgI am with all the ladies who miss being prego. I LOVED IT. but then I wasn't working or doing much of anything. Just enjoying the pregnancy and had little to no nausia. When we do start trying I would like to also have a summer baby as well. we wanted a 2-3yr space in between but I am somewhat tempted to start trying this aug  I had so many problems last time, I worry a repeat might happen. it took us 2yrs to have donnie.

toyshe LOVES the car seat bugs (from target) and his play mat toys. There are a couple toys with colored feet and he still laughs and yells at them like they are his friends.

has anyone heard of or tried the book 12hours in 12weeks? I am bfing and donnie WAS sleeping through the night fine. but then he got sick and all his good habbits were broke. so my friend gave me this to try. the idea is to get your kid to eat every 4hrs 4 times a day (during the first 12 hrs) and then sleep or quiet in crib during the 2nd 12hrs. I am worried since my guys is only nursing I don't know how much food he is getting. Is it safe for them to only eat 4 times a day? anyone else try that?

Is it safe for them to only eat 4 times a day?

IMHO, no. Especially at the age this "pro" is recommending. Especially a BF baby under 12 weeks. I don't even think it's fair to expect a FF fed baby under 12 weeks to only eat every 4hours. It's not fair to shovel as much food in as possible in as little time as possible at that age. Some babies do take 6-7 oz a feeding at 12 weeks but other are still only taking 4-5 oz.

My BF baby still eats 6-8 times a day. I do think that if you really want to sleep train Donnie right now that you can probably give him enough breastmilk during the day and he probably *could* sleep through the night but I would make sure he eats every 3 hours at least during the day. 4 hours is VERY long stretch for any baby to go especially a BF baby, and I'm really upset that this expert is recommending itty bitty babies only eat every 4 hours during the day. Ella barely goes 3 now at almost 5 months.

But again, that's just my opinion.

I agree with Lex espeically since my son is on the low end of how many ounces he will eat in a sitting. DS eats 6-8 times a day and has gone for 5 or 6 hour stretches at night a few times so I know he can do it. Only eating 4 times a day seems like a fairly extreme minimum, but every baby is different.

carter eats 5 times a day and sleeps 12hrs. straight. he has done this since 3.5 months. i agree with tiny babes shouldn't do this, but carter has thrived.

I also agree with Lexy and Lvella. Lucas sleeps through the night pretty regularly, he has since Christmas. Sometimes he will go down around 8 and wake again at 11, but he will sleep until 7 am. Other times he goes down at 8 and sleeps until 7. On occasion he has gone down earlier, like at 6 and slept until 7. So that's 13 hours!! So it is entirely possible that Donny could do that too. However, we didn't really do anything to make him start doing that, he has pretty much done it on his own. Some babies sleep through the night at this age, and others need to wake up and eat 1, 2, even 3 times. Both are entirely normal. That being said, I think you can try to sleep train a baby of this age. What you choose to try is up to you. We have had luck with some of the methods of Babywise and Weissbluth. I would, however, be skeptical of only feeding a breastfed baby 4 times a day though. Lucas eats every 2.5 to 3 hours in the day, getting between 6 and 8 feedings a day. At this age, without having introduced solids, I would not go much fewer than 6 feedings a day.

Amanda-I hope you don't think I'm implying that eating 5 times a day and sleeping through the night are bad at all. I think it's awesome that Carter started sleeping through the night so early (and quite jealous too :) )

But Carter did that on his own, you didn't deny him food when he wanted it and he slept through the night on his own which clearly means he was getting enough calories throughout the day.

What I don't like about these experts is that some babies can thrive on eating only every 4 hours (although I highly doubt any 12 week and under BF baby really could) but not all babies can and I think it's unfair to expect it of your child at such an early age. If they can do it, awesome, but it's normal not too.

But...I do think that our kids are old enough now to do sleep training IF you as a parent are ready. And I do think our babies can get enough food during the day and can probably sleep through the night. But I think 4 times a day is little low for a BF baby. Try to get in at least 5, more like 6 feedings a day. I would say Donnie is getting at least 4 oz a feeding probably more like 5 or so. So if you feed 6 times a day you know he's getting at least 24 oz probably more like 28-30oz which is a good daily amount for him.

Ella still wakes at least once during the night and I still go to her because I personally am not ready to sleep train...but I'm not opposed to STing and will do it when I'm so exhausted I can't function anymore. :)
