I live in Kansas City, and I am in deperate need of maybe a weekend getaway. There is the Lake of the Ozarks nearby, but that does not sound real intriquing. Anybody live in the area and have any fun suggestions?? :) :)

How about St Louis? I think that is only a few hours from KC but I could be wrong. There is a ton to do in St Louis, so if you would consider that, let me know and I will post suggestions.

As for Lake of the Ozarks, DH and I actually stopped there on one of our many drives from TX to OH. We were only there for 2 days but we did enjoy it. We went hiking in the state park, rented jet skis, went shopping (there is a pretty good outlet mall there), found a local bar that got pretty busy and fun at night, and played games at the arcade. It was not your typical vacation but it was fun and it made us feel like little kids again :)

Chicago? Incredible city. Just beautiful. Great food, shopping and weather this time of year!

I'm late in replying, but Chicago is my favorite, too. My best friend lives there, so I love to just get a room at the Wyndham downtown, shop my ass off, and have her take me to fun, out of the way places. :) The Lincoln Park Zoo is fun, there are neat architectural tours on the river, the Frank Lloyd Wright properties in Oak Park, and tons of good resaturants and shopping. I also love the Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute Museum, and the Field Museum. It's an awesome city. :)

There are some nice resorts in the Ozarks that might make for a relaxing trip, though I can understand not necessarily wanting that to be your getaway. ;) :D

We're trying to plan something at this very moment, and it really *is* hard to find anything very appealling that doesn't involve 2+ hours of air travel. I think we've decided on Phoenix, though, so I'm pretty excited about that. :)
