Furniture timing – If you are comfortable enough telling your aunt the circumstances then that is what I would do. If I were in your situation, I would talk to my parents and have them sorta hint to my aunt that sooner is better.
Lil_mrs – March 24…that is only 3 weeks away. I would probably tell her to look at the registry for guidance. I’m also not comfortable telling people what to buy specifically.
3 more months until June is here.

Hello Mommas :D
Hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe some of us are finally in the 3rd tri. Before you know it, we'll all be and then it's just a matter of time :D
I've been having acid reflux since 9 last night. I called the dr today and the nurse started asking some weird questions, like if I'm seeing spots, or getting dizzy or bloating. I thought she meant those are side effects of Zantac but she said no pre-eclampsia. How she got that from burning in my throat I'm not sure but she freaked me out a little.
Anyway, I can take 150 mg of Zantac twice a day. If it doesn't help when I go on Tues I should ask for something stronger. It sucks cause I can't even eat and when I do, it burns my stomach and throat.
So if that isn't enough I passed out today :/ Brian was taking something out of the bathroom, I stood up to open the front door and he said the bathroom door is open. I went in to close it and when I came to he and Nikolas were standing over me. I started freaking cause what if I was home alone with Niko and something happened to him? I haven't passed out since I was first pg, but it still scared me.
And lastly, Brian informed me last night that he doesn't think the basement will be done in time :mad: I am mad at him cause I've been asking him since Dec to get started but no... So now with 11 weeks things will be a mess here. I'm so angry but won't say anything to him cause I'll just be wrong.
So that's it, I'm off to bed. Hope everyone has a better weekend than we do :/

Is anyone else having rib pain? Mine is getting pretty bad these days. I don't know if it's the baby or my organs being pushed up or what but it hurts!

Good morning Ladies.
I'm having some insomnia, so I'm awake on Saturday morning way too early and it stinks.
It's been a long week around here. Mia's been sick with a horrible head cold. Thursday night was the first night in a week that she hasn't been up for hours. DH actually went and checked on her last night around 3:30 because it made us nervous that she was actually sleeping. I don't know it it's pregnancy or being up so much lately that's making it hard for me to sleep now.
I had my follow-up ultrasound this week. I technically get the results on Tuesday at my doc's appt. However, since I work in a doc office with access to all test results from the hospital's radiology department, I looked mine up (not really ethical, but I'm sick of not getting results from my doc's office). The cord abnormality is still there (That wasn't going to change, of course). The one kidney has enlarged slightly more and now the other is mildly enlarged where it was normal last time. I'm sure my appt tuesday will be pointless. It's with the nurse practicioner instead of one of the 7 docs in the practice. I tried to change it, but the receptionist told me it wasn't necessary:rolleyes: .
Pink: Could the baby be kicking your ribs? I don't have any pain there yet, but I know from my last ultrasound that this baby's feet are already right below my ribs- I can't imagine in another month.
nikos: That's scary when you pass out. I did that with my first pregnancy a lot (multiple times a day). I've currently cut out most carbs and sugar and way upped my protein. That seems to have helped stablize my blood sugar a little more and I'm not having those feelings as much right now. I'm still not comfortable leaving the house with Mia to go more than 10 mintues away and to a place where people know me, just in case. Otherwise, I just put off my errands until either DH or my Mom can go with me. I feel like a prisioiner, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Hang in there with the remodeling. We've been going through it for over 5 years now. We've re-done every room in the house, and then a year and a half ago added a large addition on. DH has been doing the majority of the work, so it definately moves slowly. The dust and dirt get frustrating, but it does get better. I'd love to have the playroom done by the time this baby gets here (it's very usable, but DH just punched holes in the walls to blow in insulation) so it now needs some finish work on the walls and painted. Every time I bring it up he just looks at me. I've given up. If it gets done, it gets done. If not, oh well. I know how tired he is too, so I try not to nag him too much anymore- it never got me anywhere anyway.

Happy Saturday Girls!
pink ~ My ribs hurt off and on every few days. Thankfully it goes away after a short time. A warm bath sometimes helps me or else lying down as otherwise the baby is up so high.
Nikos ~ Sorry to hear you passed out again. I hope that was the last time. I'm sure Niko would be fine if it happened while Brian was gone. He'd probably just try to wake Mommy up. Sorry the remodeling is frustrating as well. Congrats on the 3rd trimester!
jay&erinn ~ Sorry Mia is sick. Hopefully she's better soon. Crossing my fingers that you're able to get some good information at your appointment this week.
I've decided I'm finally going to buy some maternity shirts today. I found out yesterday at work that I need to take a business trip to Chesapeake, VA 3/19-3/24. I'm a little nervous about traveling alone and really nervous about leaving DS. My MIL has been watching him during the day while we're at work (DH recently got a new job - used to work nights) and has been staying since ILs live 1 hour away. So, no big changes since she'll still be here, but I won't. I've never been away from him and being gone 5 nights is not going to be easy for any of us.
Other than that not a whole lot is going on. DH is working today but I'm sure we'll be doing something tonight since it's my birthday. Yup, the big 2-5!
Posting my own updates so I don't forget! :rolleyes:
Update DH's age to 24 and my age to 25.

good morning everyone.
nikos- I hope you feel better. . I can't imagine passing out like that but I can certainly understand your fear as it relates to Niko. only 11 weeks left to go for you!
happy birthday Kaeden's mommy! and I can't believe you are just getting into maternity shirts and it's your second!!!! I am way past that. looks like you won't have much extra weight to worry about after Mackenzie gets here!
so. . we got a call from USA Baby last night. the crib and dresser/changing table that we ordered only 5 short weeks ago will be in on Monday!!!! I am so excited as I took that day off already and can't wait to get started on it. DH is on spring break too so I have him to help with all the labor!!! I can't believe they came in that fast!

Hello All :D
Thanks for your concern ladies :) I've become used to passing out over these past 3 years, it just scares the crap out of me sometimes. I try not to let it rule my life and usually I can tell when I'm having a bad day. I guess I just got up a little too fast :/
As for our remodel, well I've given up any hope that it will be done in time. Brian started ripping out the bathroom floor today and found that all the wood around the toilet bowl is rotted :eek: He said it's a miracle we haven't fallen through it's that bad :eek: Kinda scarey. So now I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst and just going to go with plan 2. The basement will get done, eventually.
Hope everyone has a good weekend :D

Finally got pics of the bags.
The Lands’ End Do It All is by far the largest bag. Even though the LL Bean bag looks similar to the Little Tripper, the LL Bean bag is much roomier (see side view of bags). I’m glad I have all three. The Do It All is a little big for a day trip. We will use it for overnight trips and to keep extras in the car. The LL Bean bag will most likely be the everyday bag. It will go to day care and will be used for day trips. The Little Tripper is just for that, short outings where I need a slimmer bag. Overall, I’m please with all of them. None of the changing pads that come with them are very large. I should have taken a picture of them all. I ordered a separate larger changing pad by JJ Cole (http://www.jjcoleusa.com/et.php)
Here are pics.
Left to right: Lands’ End Do It All ($29.50), LL Bean Diaper Bag($36.00) and Lands’ End Little Tripper($19.50).

Happy Birthday Kaeden's mommy!
I forgot I had already asked about the rib pain a few weeks ago. It's just gotten really bad lately :( .
DS-Thanks for the bag reviews.
I got my Lazyboy rocker/recliner out of layaway today! It looks so good in his room. It's comfy too!
jay&erin-I'm thinking about you and I'm sure everything will be fine.

Nikosmommy-Yikes! I totally didn't realise that some women had fainting issues when pregnant til this week at our prenatal classes. Hope it doesn't happen when you're home alone with Niko. Actually lets just hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon at all! Oh and on the acid reflux apparently it can be a sympton of pre-eclampsia. I've had issues with my eyesight from dryness but yeah I was asked by the midwife if I had any bad indigestion/reflux etc to go with it.
DS-Those bags look really good! And the Kissaluvs look cute. :) Did you post your CD stash anywhere on here? I'm just trying to get a feel for what others are getting/planning on having to start off with. I'm going to do an order from a NZ company sometime soon.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAEDEN'S MOMMY!
QOTD-Anyone started prenatal classes yet? How are you finding them?
We started last Tuesday and it was really good. The instructor is teaching the Active Birth method as put forward by Janet Balaskas (UK midwife) and it was a lot of fun! It's just good to meet some IRL June and around June mummies! :)

DH finally agreed to let me leave work early today!! My job itself isn't hard, although it is slowly getting physically harder the bigger I get, but my boss is extremely stressful to deal with and has me wigging out on an almost daily basis. We have one bill that we'd like to pay off before the baby comes (then we are debt-free except for our mortgage and cars-one of which will also be paid off by the time the baby's born- YAY!!), so we're going to reeval the situation at the end of March, and I will probably be leaving sometime in April. I feel so much better and will probably be able to deal with her so much better just knowing that I'm not stuck there until June. After all of our complaining about the DH's lately, today is one day that I'm extremely happy with mine!!

Hello All :D
I posted yesterday and didn't read through the other posts :/
erinn You should INSIST on seeing a dr. I know it's late in the pg, but have you thought of going to another dr? Sending healthy vibes & prayers your way.
Kaeden's Happy belated birthday :D What are you going to VA for? We moved to DE from Va Bch, which is minutes from Chesapeake. Brian may have to go for a job fair in Ches but he's not sure when. We are so getting a dog sitter and I'm going with him. I'd get to see everyone :)
Astlrdec My passing out isn't from being pg. I have a condition called vasovagal where my blood pressure doesn't compensate and my heart rate slows down. Being pg just aggrevates it :/
I really hope the acid reflux is just that, acid reflux and my not so always good choices of food :/
jbenny Congrats on leaving work early :D It will be such a huge relief for you.
So we have progress in the bathroom. The tile is going up on the wall where the window is. The other walls should be done tomorrow and hopefully the floor will be replaced. The only thing holding up the toilet bowl is the joist under the floor and the sewer drain. Other than that, nothing :eek: So now I go very carefully.
And... we may have a solution for the basement. A really good friend of ours that rents a room from my sister does construction work, mostly framing. He just quit his job and is redoing my sisters kitchen. We're waiting to hear back from him to see if he'd come up for a few days and at least get the guest room and bathroom done downstairs. He can do it in about 5 days where as Brian would take much longer not having any experience and learning as he goes. So send us "Raul come to DE vibes" :D
Every time I talk to Nikolas about his brother Brian says, "oh you mean the one who doesn't have a name yet?". Um hello, I've made suggestions and you don't want to listen. I've been calling him Nathan to myself and it seems to be ringing better but not 100% sure yet. I started saying Ethan too, but how would you shorten that?
Ok, off to bed. Take care all.

nikos It sounds like you are feeling much better about the remodeling!! Please Raul, come to DE!!!
27wks 3 days
Happy Monday all:rolleyes:, hope everyone had a good weekend. We went to see our friend's new baby yesterday, he is adorable. The bought a total fixer upper and are living in shambles. She asked me if I liked her nursery and pointed to the dining room table where his changing pad, etc is. Now I don't feel so bad about not having everything ready in time and construction under way. Every room in their home is under remodel. DH keeps asking me how long baby will be in the bassinet and I know this is a stall technique to avoid working on Colton's new room and moving him into a big bed. Why do men think we are idiots? I told him just a few weeks;). Besides, boating season is coming up and then he'll never touch the house so I need to crack the whip while it's still cold. At least your hubby is actively working on his projects, Niko's. Mine does one thing and then goes back to his side jobs on the weekend. So Frustrating:mad: :mad:
On a lighter note- I think we finally decided on Chase Riley R.....for the new guy. I'm excited because we finally agreed on another unusual, but not totally weird name and I don't know any other kids named Chase. We are keeping the name a surprise (except for you guys of course:) ), we don't need any negative comments. Can't please everyone you know.......
I have my GTT this Wednesday and I'm hoping the weight gain remains stable, fingers crossed.

QOTD: Prenatal classes:
we've registered for four classes --
- April 6 -- "Helping Older Children adjust to the new baby" (2 hour class)
- April 19 -- Breastfeeding basics (2 hour class, geared more to first time BF'ers but I want to go to refresh my memory so that I'm ready to roll right away and hopefully not have the rocky start we had with Connor)
- April 22 -- Refresher Labour Prep (5 hour class)
- May 13 -- "Big Brother/Big Sister (1.5 hour class for Connor!) :)
***************
JBenny -- hope that works out for you that you can leave work earlier than planned! It'll really be nice to have some extra time to relax before the baby gets here! I know *I* am totally counting down -- 4 weeks left for me! :)
***************
Feeling a little more prepared for Dawson...
On the weekend, we set up the crib. Connor was right in there with a wrench trying to "fix" the bottom. Too funny -- I should have gotten some pictures!! Wade said it REALLY hit him that we're REALLY having another baby when he brought the crib upstairs. He said he started having flashbacks!! As for Connor, he totally doesn't realize that this crib used to be his (until Sept/04), or even that the office used to be his nursery (until Feb/05). So that's really good -- hopefully there won't be any of this "Hey, that's MY old stuff" coming from Connor! :)
Of course, upon setting up the crib, Connor wanted to get in it and try it out, so I let him lie down in it. OMG... I can't believe that he now takes up like 90% of the crib's space. Absolutely crazy! How did he get so LONG?!? And that really hit home about how TINY Dawson will be when he comes along.
Next up: the dresser is being brought upstairs this week (it's just a chest with 4 drawers). Then I'll get to sort through Connor's oldest bin of clothes, start washing in Ivory Snow and then fill the drawers! :) After that, we basically just have the change table to set up but that won't happen until we move our office (or at least one of the two desks) down to the basement.
I also have a total of 18 Kissaluvs size 0 fitted cloth diapers and several Bummis covers (SWW) on their way to me as we speak, so I feel pretty confident that we'll be able to CD at home fairly easily for the first couple of months (pending Dawson's size).
Also, I did some calling around on Friday and found a Dr. who does the bell circumcision. The Dr. does it in his office and will do it UP until 8 weeks depending on size. Though the office assist told me that they prefer to do it around 2-6 weeks for most babies (and as early in that time period of course). I guess the 8 week extension is more for the smaller preemies, kind of the situation we were in with Connor. So that's a load off my mind. We just have to call them after the baby is born and make an appointment.
So anyway, I'm feeling pretty happy now with our progress on getting ready for Dawson.
... And today I'm 25 weeks... Wade reminded me last night that at this point in pg with Connor, we had just 10 weeks left. TEN weeks. GAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Just popping in to say I can't believe I haven't posted in a month!! I have been following along, but haven't had much to add. I appreciate the opportunity to share in this experience with everyone.
Amanda thanks for helping out with the threadmistress duties. I'm afraid I have been very lax :o
As for me .... things have been going pretty well. My OB's scale says I'm up 15 lbs (mine said 11 :rolleyes: ), but it seems to be pretty good so far. Baby has been kicking up a storm - we were watching my belly 'jiggle' with the movements. Freaky.
My next appt is 3/21 - GTT I was told I could eat, but to try not to eat high sugar stuff. I'll be 28 weeks.

Happy belated birthday Kaedensmommy
Astlrdec – I’m not sure if I posted my newborn/small stash. I know I did somewhere, but am not sure if it was here. I’ll get it from LJ and post it here.
Prenatal classes – We started our Bradley course yesterday (it runs for 12 weeks). It was great. We learned different exercises and relaxation techniques. We also started discussion on nutrition. I have to keep a record of what I eat and there are minimums I have to meet. One of them is 80-100g of protein a day. We have a baby care class on April 8, Childbirth birth classes through my ob office May 1-15 and Breastfeeding class on May 22. The Bradley class includes breastfeeding, but the one on May 22 is through my ob office and I want to meet the lactation consultant and see what tips she has. I’ve also started attending La Leche League meeting. I am trying to build my support group.
Jbenny – glad you get to stop early. I would like to get a couple days off before, but not much more than that.
Connorsmommy – you are making progress.
I like Chase Riley. I knew a Chase as a kid and Riley was on our list of possibles.

Thanks to all for the Birthday Wishes!
ruby ~ I love the name Chase Riley! Congrats on deciding.
Nikos ~ The company I work for has an office in Chesapeake and I will be going to do some training. I'm excited since I've never been there. Hopefully you'll get to travel their soon. Hope Raul shows up soon!
bottleored ~ Don't worry about threadmistress duties. Thankfully Amanda has been a Godsend and I've even been slacking. :o
connorsmommy ~ Yay for setting up the crib. We've got K's bed ready to go, but need to get him into it now. He's so tall - I can't believe how much of the crib he takes up.
pink ~ Yay for the recliner/rocker!
ds ~ Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the diaper bags. It really helps me since I'm looking at all 3 bags and trying to decide which ones I really want. Glad you're enjoying your Bradley class.
sunshine ~ Sorry you still can't decide on a name. You'll find the perfect one soon. Kaeden didn't have a name until about 2 weeks before he was born.
Not much new here. Heartburn seems to be finding me almost every day. It's not too bad - just a slight annoyance. I haven't started taking anything to get rid of it, but will if it gets worse.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Nothing really to report here. DH caught my cold and he is at home trying to NyQuil it off today. I think he gained a new respect for me after he caught the cold. I slept and steamed bathed the cold off... No drugs!
We had our work party this weekend. It was pretty lame. People go there basically to drink and ofcourse I can't drink so I was pretty bored. DH almost blew it... He wanted to go outside for a smoke and almost did it until I told it was fine but he would be back at day one. I then refused to kiss him on his way out... Sure enough he came back w/i seconds smoke free!

For Astlrdec and whom ever else is interest in my cloth diaper stash.
I have way more stuff then I really need, I’m sure I’ll sell what I don’t really use and keep the other stuff for baby #2. Everything I bought new except for the Aristocrat. I definitely have favorites already. I hope that I don’t abandon the prefolds to use the fitteds and All-in-ones. My original plan was to use only prefolds (that is why I have so many) and then peer pressure convinced me to try other things :o)
My newborn/small stash:
Diapers:
15 Kissaluvs size 0 (mostly unbleached…couple colors)
12 Kissanots (Kissaluvs 3rds) size 0 ish

18 preemie 2x6x2 unbleached indian prefolds

Good morning everyone. I am trying so hard to keep caught up, but I can never seem to stay caught up!
I posted this in my LJ. TMI!
thought I might be leaking amniotic fluid. Every night I just feel really soaked and it didn't dawn on me that it could possibly be that til yesterday. I was reading in a book I have that it tends to be worse when you are laying down because when you are sitting/standing your baby's head acts like a cork. I dunno. Last night we were laying down watching tv when I got up I felt very wet and there was a clear wet spot on my undies. I woke up a few times and the same thing last night. I called my Dr. this morning and she said it doesn't sound like ruptured membranes. She said it could just be discharge and worse when I get up since it could be pooling in there. But the thing is, it isn't right after I get up I can feel it when I wake up at night. I am getting annoyed with my Dr. because it seems like every concern I ever have is just me being crazy and everything is fine. She said she was dealing with an emergency today, but that if it really did sound like RM then she would bring me in. She said to watch it today and call her back later. But why bother? With my pg with Wesley she was never the one to send me to the hosptital, it was always me calling after hours talking to the on call Dr.s. I just wish she would let me come in and check me. Just so I can have peace of mind. What would it hurt?
What do you guys think?
ds2003
03-06-2006, 11:37 AM
Excited_bride – can you just call your doctors office and schedule an appt with one of the other doctors regardless of what your dr says? I notice that I am more wet now that I have been. Does the fluid have any color? Since you are concerned, I think you should schedule an appt and possibly look into getting a new doctor.

excitedbride- I would call the front desk and ask for the next available appointment with an OB. When I had early bleeding they just put me in with whoever they had available to check me that same day. It may be nothing but it really helps to have that reassurance from a doctor. The office should be understanding of that.

excitedbride I was told that milky disharges are normal. I have been wearing panty liners for weeks now. I have not really found a pattern to when they occur. I wouldn't describe it as wet, but it's thick enough to feel wet and uncomfortable when it happens. I had one this weekend where I sneezed and thought I peed a little but it was the discharge again.
You may want to read this and see if that applies to you.
Article about vaginal discharge (http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/270.html)
If you are still concerned, keep bugging your doctor. You obviously know your body and they should listen to you.

Thank you ladies so much. I figured some discharge was normal, but this was just clear and kinda odorless which is why it freaked me out! It was just so much last night. It actually has really not been noticable today which is strange. I will see what happens tonight. I will definetly demand to be seen if this continues, I mean seriously, what Dr. wouldn't have you come right in? I have been rethinking my Dr. situation, but it seems like it would be a pain right in the middle of pg. I am going to talk to my sil about her Dr. soon. She seems to really like her.
Going to check out that link.

Bottleored, Not a problem! :)
Ruby, Chase Riley is cute! Yay for a decision!
Excited, I agree with the other girls. Definitely get checked if you are uncomfortable with what your dr says. Better safe than sorry and your dr should know how paranoid pg women get!! Good luck!!
I am seriously stressing out about the nursery!! It is FULL of DH's collectibles and he hasn't even started to get anything ready to be moved out! Our crib and dresser are sitting in the boxes in the kitchen. :rolleyes: It is frustrating because I don't want to nag, but I really want to get things started in there and he won't let me do anything with his collectibles. *sigh* I know it could be worse, but it is frustrating nonetheless.
I "scheduled" my 3 hour GTT for this Friday so I start my high-carb diet tomorrow for three days, then fast from 10:30pm Thursday night until the test is done. Don't they know how hard it will be for a pg woman not to eat for over 12 hours???? AND drink yucky sugary stuff?? AND get her blood drawn that many times??? Good Lord!!! They might be sorry by the time this is all over!
Hope you all had a good Monday! Is it Friday yet? :rolleyes:

Babylust I am starting to freak too about our nursery. It needs to be cleaned out and painted and we really haven't even started! I am getting really anxious about it! You are ahead of us, you have furniture at least!:)
With my pg with my DS I had to do the three hour test too. Maybe if there are stores nearby they will let you leave and come back? They let me do that, thankfully. I think I would have gone crazy waiting that long there!

good morning everyone!
so I took the day off yesterday and DH and I got so much done. we spent 2 hours in babies r us working on the registry which has 81 items on it and was quite frustrating. how can you register for something in the store and then go home and when you look it up on amazon, is no longer in stock???? very frustrating. but I think we did a pretty good job. then our crib and changing table/dresser came in so we went and picked it up and put it together in the nursery. . it's starting to come together! part of me can't believe I only have 15 weeks left to go, part of me can't believe I still have 15 weeks to go. I can't wait to meet this little one!
babylust- I had the exact same problem you are describing. I convinced myself I was peeing on myself but had my doctor check anyway at my next appointment. she obliged and after determining it wasn't amniotic fluid, said that it was only going to get worse from here on out. I would still see the doctor if I were you. . can't hurt to be reassured and she should see you for a simple test. . it only took me like 3 minutes.
ruby- LOVE the name! great choice!
happy Tuesday!

Good morning, everyone. Just returned back to work after four days away. I hardly feel like I was gone a day. Boo. I couldn't catch up/respond to all the posts, but was happy to read that everyone is doing well and keeping busy with baby preparations.
The baby learned a new trick this weekend and totally freaked me out. I was laying on my side in bed talking to DH one morning and when I rolled onto my back, my belly was sticking straight out on the left side. It was crazy! My DH put his hand over the bump, laughed at me, and said, "Okay. Calm down. Calm down" and the baby eventually moved into a less freaky looking position.
We checked out the crib my Mom has for us (was my sister's crib). The spindles meet regulation and the mattress support are springs--so everything seems to be safe and sturdy. She also had a Sealy mattress she bought last summer so that my nephew could use the crib when he stayed a few days with her. So, we are all set with the crib, mattress, and even got some nice crib sheets. Cool!
We received our Peg Perego stroller last week. I love it! And we were able to track down the matching infant seat at USA Baby Dallas. We placed our order over the phone and should have it by the end of the week.
That's all I have time to report at the moment! Take care, everyone!

Good morning -
Shoulda – don’t let the online stock status confuse you. The online stock is for what is available online and is not connected to the store stock.
Amurphy – I had a similar belly look over the weekend. I also called DH to take a look at my lopsided belly.
Registry sighting – someone bought the My Brest Friend pillow off of our registry. Thought that was odd since I don’t know of any showers coming up. Of course now I will go registry crazy and that will be the only item bought for the next month or two.
Not much going on here. Last night I had the worse night of sleep so far. I could barely drag myself out of the bed because I was so tired.

i wish i had time to do SO's to everyone, but its so exciting to see all the progress everyone is making, esp with the nurseries and such.
we ordered our furniture and it should come in at the end of the month. dh has his spring break in a couple weeks so we'll be painting then.
we finished our registry and i'm glad thats done. childbirth classes start today.
pretty excited about it.
i want to write more but i am pretty out of it right now. i've felt some cramping on my lower left side and its pretty uncomfortable and i'm so tired today. baby was wanting to be up all night and i couldnt sleep :( i LOVE feeling baby and i LOVE it when dh talks to baby and baby will kick but we were both so tired last night and i guess baby wanted to 'play'.
btw i've also had that lopsided belly! baby prefers my right side for some reason.
i'll be back when i have more energy!

I posted this in the July thread but I am so proud of myself that I had to post it here as well!
Things that are done:
Nursery Furniture- We have the crib, glider, swing, small dresser, and toy bins shelf. (Still need- bookcase, closet organizer, under crib storage baskets)
Clothes- Got the small dresser loaded, clothes washed and detagged, organized by size then by tops, bottoms, sleepers, etc.
Painted and decorated- Thanks to DH all the rooms I wanted painted before baby came are done! The apartment feels like home now rather than a hotel w/ plain white walls. Living room is rust, bedroom-chocolate brown, nursery-mint.
Bills- One credit card down and one more to go- Will be paid off when tax returns come back. Then we'll just be working on the tv which is no interest until January. (ooh Taxes are done!)
Things still left to do:
Closets- Need to move DH out of the hall closet (I kicked him out with all my clothes in ours). Empty out Nursery closet and move stuff to hall and then organize/set up baby's closet- All happens after the purge.
Purge- We need to purge our apartment again. DH's uncle is moving back in town and I think we let him have first pick then the rest to Goodwill.
With the work shower in just a couple more weeks I am feeling really good about what we have done... Can you believe we only have a couple more months!!!
Hi everyone-I have the dreaded GTT tomorrow, not looking forward to that. So glad everyone seems to like the name we chose. Colton has started calling him Baby Chase so I have to nip that in the bud or everyone is going to know our little secret:). You girls are making me jealous with having everything so organized. Tomorrow I am going out shopping again for big boy furniture, I hope I finally find something not outrageously priced yet sturdy, no luck so far. We are all set with baby gear and furniture except for diapers and a double stroller. I have been lurking on EBay but I would rather buy something used locally since my DS will not want to be in the stroller all the time anyway.

hehehe.... what's with everyone dreading the GTT? ;)
I haven't had mine yet, but from last time, it really wasn't a big deal at all -- I showed up first thing in the morning, drank my drink (it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be...just like extra-sweet orange crush...mmm!) and then had a whole hour to sit back and read a book! They even brought me a blanket to keep me warm as the room was a tad on the chilly side being 7 a.m. on a Saturday morning in February!
So, don't sweat it, ok!? :)

Ugh. I'm stopping by to complain, which is something I haven't done since first trimester m/s and fatigue.
My baby is so high up in my tummy today. It is so uncomfortable. I'm leaning way back in my chair and still not getting any relief. :( It is strange to think that up until a few weeks ago, everyone said I was carrying pretty low. It appears the baby likes to take advantage of all the space he or she can.

I think some of yall talked about this awhile back but I do not remember what the outcome was ..... The ocean wonders crib aquarium .... Which one do you prefer and which style do you like best? The older one that was more square or the new one rectangle/circle shape.
One of our local Toys R Us is going out of business & have the new styled ones for $29.99 - 40% off ($18.00) or I could buy a used one (square) off Ebay pretty cheap. Just seeing which one you like best?

sunshine: I haven't checked out the new one yet. I have the old one, and Mia has loved it. It has two different knob/button type things where you can spin the starfish or open the clams mouth. Not sure if you can do that on the new one. Those are her favorite parts.
Just a quick update.
It's been a long week and it's only Tuesday:rolleyes: . DH went out of town yetsurday- he'll be back tomorrow night- but it's exhausting not having him around. I'm spoiled by not having to take Mia to the sitter's in the morning. I had to get up 45 minutes earlier to take her yesturday and listen to her complain while I tried to take a shower (she's definately not a morning person). MIL called yesturday to say that DH's grandmother is in really bad shape. DH is calling because he doesn't know whether to come home or not. I took Mia to see her this morning at the nursing home and there's a lot of family in town we haven't seen in a long time (some have never met Mia). I dropped her at the sitter and went to my appt. They said not to worry too much. I'll have another ultrasound at 30 weeks to check growth (because of the 2 vessel cord) and the kidneys to make sure they're not getting any bigger. They also think that I'm hypoglycemic and that's why I black out and get horrible heart palpitations. I've cut out a lot of carbs and almost all sugar and things have improved dramatically. Unfortunately eggs and meat are not some of my favorite foods- oh well- if it keeps me feeling good, I'll just have to deal. After nap, it's back to the nursing home until bed time. Not the way I planned on spending the next few days, but I think it makes DH feel better that we're there since he can't be.
Well, I'm off to pack Mia's diaper bag so she doesn't get too antsy tonight.

sunshine ~ The features on the aquariums are the same (or almost) so it's just a matter of which style you prefer. We have the older one and it works great so we'll be keeping that one even though I prefer the look of the new model. And the price at your local store is great.
ds ~ Got your PM. Thanks!

Good afternoon everyone!
Wow, being away for a couple of days means I've really missed alot. I'm sick again and don't have the energy to try to do replies to everything I've missed.
I hit the 28 week mark today and it feels like I've reached a huge milestone. I don't know why, but the 28W point has always stood out as a momentous day...I think it's because I feel that I'm past the point where bad things can happen to our baby. *Knock Wood* I don't jinx myself, but I feel like 'if' anything were to happen, our baby would be able to survive past this point...does that make any sense?
To celebrate the day, DH and I are starting our Prenatal classes tonight. I'm excited, although a little nervous, about them. Don't know what to expect and am a little apprehensive, but it will be good to get them out of the way. I got a message confirming yesterday and was instructed to bring a pillow...I sure hope that doesn't mean we will be sitting on the floor the entire time. I don't know how comfortable I will be if that's the case.
Bad news ~ Found out that our Baby Furniture was not delivered last week, as we were told. Luckily, it's only been about 6 weeks since we ordered it, so still plenty of time...but I was really hoping we could get it into the room so I could organize. That plan is on hold for awhile, but I suppose it's not that bad. And it gives DH some more time to get the mouldings up and to finish the painting of our stairwell (but he did manage to get the upper and lower hallways done over the weekend...he did a great job.0
Things are going well with us, other than being sick again. Baby is kicking like crazy all the time now. I was in the tub last night and he was kicking hard enough that my belly was shaking and the water was actually moving because of it.
Glucose Test ~ Since I took a sick day yesterday, I went and did my GTT test. I actually fasted before going (just because I slept so late and then decided to get other blood work done) They gave me a bottle of what orange liquid and to be honest, it was just like Orange Pop. It had fizzy bubbles and everything. I didn't find it overly sweet, but did find that it made me burp like crazy afterwards. They let us leave and come back, but only because DH was with me and driving. I went back in, had the blood drawn and quickly pulled out a granola bar to snack on. I found about three hours after the test (so not sure if it was test related or not) I got a little dizzy and light headed. Will hopefully get the results at my next M/W appointment next Tuesday.
Shower ~ I'm still in and think it's a great idea. I will PM my details to our lovely Threadmistress.
Kaedan's Mommy ~ Speaking of threadmistress, I did want to say a HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY...hope it was a great one.
LadyJG ~ I just wanted to publicly thank you for being such a wonderful person. I'm thrilled and excited about getting the lamp and crib sheet and owe you big time for your help and your kindness.
And I think that's about it for me...off to finish up a day at work (counting down the days now and it can't end soon enough!)

My baby does this too.
btw i've also had that lopsided belly! baby prefers my right side for some reason.
My baby shower is April 29th, I'm so excited! My BF and Sister are planning it. I was with both of them today and I had to keep turning my head and covering my ears and stuff so they could talk or show each other stuff when ideas were popping in their head about the shower. It was funny! I was like do you guys want me to go wait in the car!?
We worked out today. And I walked the dog when I got home. Just walking is kicking my butt. I am soooo out of shape. Has anyone else not really been working out? Are you as scared as I am about pushing this baby out because of it?
I'm supposed to pay/sign up for all of my prenatal classes on Friday. That will be good to get out of the way. I think I have one class almost every weekend in April.
Glad to hear everyone is doing well and making progress on the nurseries and everything!

Mrs.Brownie – my prenatal classes are on the floor…all 2.5 hours. It wasn’t so bad and I think that is because it was at the instructor’s house and I was able to lean against her sofa and she had carpet. It isn’t as comfortable sitting on tile or hard wood floors. She prefers we sit on the floor (cross legged) over a chair for anything. She even suggested eating dinner at the coffee table. So depending on the room, the floor may not be so bad.

Pink – great news on the shower. I’ve still heard nothing about mine, but one of my bridal showers was a surprise so maybe the baby shower will be one as well. I love surprises but I also like knowing that one is coming up so I can get overly excited.

I really really need to post more often. I come here and read, but then I get distracted and don't end up posting, so by the time I DO have time to post, there's a ton to catch up on.
I had my glucose test yesterday, and other than the fact that I was starving afterwards (I had to fast for 3 hours before, so not too bad), it was totally fine. Hopefully I'll know the results by Friday, which is when my normal 18 week appt. is. I sat and did Sudoku puzzles during the hour wait while DH played Mario Kart on the DS, so the time went by quickly. :)
I don't know if I posted this before, but after DH and I decided on a hospital and called about classes, we found out that ALL of the classes through April are booked up. I was very disappointed, since I wanted to be able to take classes at the hospital where we'll deliver, but we were looking into taking classes at another hospital. Someone from our hospital called yesterday to offer us a spot in a May 6 (and 7th?) childbirth class, so we're going with that. Not totally ideal timewise, but hopefully it'll work. Now I just need to find out if there's a May baby care class as well.
Virtual baby shower -- You can count me in! Sounds like a lot of fun. :)
amurphy -- I hope you start feeling better soon. It's frustrating to not be able to get comfortable.
MrsBrownie -- Congrats on 28 weeks! I'll join you tomorrow, and I know what you mean about it feeling like a big milestone. :) You're very welcome. Your package is on its way! DH got it in the mail today.

Excited, Love the bedding!!!
GTT - Honestly, it wasn't that bad so don't freak out about it. Mine was uncarbonated and I had to drink a 10oz bottle in 5 minutes (No problem). The lab tech kept pouring me little Dixie cups full until it was gone. They didn't let me leave, which made it super boring (and I can't leave for the 3 hour either :rolleyes: ). I got a bit nauseous from it, but that might be because I hadn't eaten since the night before and I'm not used to drinking sugary liquids. *shrug* But don't worry about it! It's not a big deal! Good luck to everyone with upcoming appts! :)

Sometimes, if the photos come up as broken images for me, I have luck with the following:
Right click on the photo, click on 'Properties,' copy the whole thing (sometimes you have to scroll down a bit b/c it's more than two lines long), paste into your browser. You should be able to see it, plus, when you return to the Constant Chatter page, it will be visible there. Not sure why this works.

mrsbrownie I replied in the Nursery thread, but I will here, too, just in case. Your colors look great! I can't wait to see it when it's finished. I was able to see your photos okay.
pink I have been thinking exactly what you have been about being out of shape. I never exercised before (except walking) and have only been walking throughout the pregnancy. I really, really worry about how I'm going to make it through labor!
excited That bedding is beautiful!!
Question for RO's or anyone who may know: Is it necessary to have t-shirts for after the umbilical cord falls off or will I only need onesies or is just up to my preference? How long does it take for cord to fall off- a few weeks, right? Will I need onesies in the 0-3 size or will he probably be growing out of that size by the time the cord falls off? Should I skip that and go straight for the next size?
The way BRU's website is run is so strange. I tried to add some diapers to my registry online. Well, diapers are listed under Amazon's health and personal care section, not under BRU. So you can't add them to your baby registry. However, you can add them to your wedding registry. I just got a kick out of that.
I have been getting that rib pain that you were all talking about a few pages back. WOW- it hurts soooo bad!

Had the GTT this morning. The drink wasn't too bad. It tasted like lemonade (looked like it a bit too just not as fizzy). The blood test however was cr*p. The chick drawing my blood musta rolled the vein or something coz my Right arm is now soooo painful and she had to draw the last bit of the test from my left arm! :mad: Ah well...just hoping I don't have to do the 3 hour test!!! I'll find out tomorrow at my check-up.
DS2003-Thanks for posting your CD stash! Looks like a huge lot and it should last you awhile!! I'm going to need more prefolds and wraps than I'll order in my first lot but I'll just add to the stash slowly. :)
Kaeden's Mommy-I'll PM you some gift ideas since we're not registering/it's a bit too difficult to do so and have the list available online. Oh and I think the $25-35 amount is probably a good amount to aim for. Especially considering the exchange rate and so forth will knock that up closer to $50AUD which would be max I could afford.

so i posted earlier about not feeling well...i ended up going to the doctor cos the pain got unbearable. i knew it couldnt be contractions cos it wasnt my whole belly, but i was really scared cos the pain was quite intense and it was pretty low. so we headed to the doc office and i had to see another doc that was there. so she checked me out and everything seemed fine. come to find out i have a pretty strained muscle. since i've had the cold and have been coughing a lot she thinks thats what would have caused that pull and with baby pushing down as well, it just made it worse. i have to treat it with heat and just watch it cos if it gets worse i need to go in again. she wanted to do a blood draw but i hadnt eaten since 8:30am (and it was at 3pm that we were there) she decided against it. the reason she wanted to do the blood draw was to make sure i didnt have a virus. i have my next scheduled appt for wednesday next week so i'll have a check up on this situation then too.
baby is doing fine and isnt affected by this at all and the heat wont 'cook the baby' is what she said!!!
i have to say this really freaked me out cos this baby could literally come at anytime...it really put things into perspective for us.
on a happier note - we started childbirth classes today and it was extremely informative and i really think our money is being well spent. dh even enjoyed it!

Agreed on the $25-$35 amount for the shower...
Shaq, Glad everything is ok, aside from your strained muscle.
I hope no one minds, but I wanted to post a quick prayer request in here. One of the January Mommies' little boys was air-lifted to the hospital for an attack related to bronchiolitis and laryngomalacia. He had turned gray and wasn't breathing. Mom and Dad drove from Austin to Dallas to be at his side. He has been having breathing problems pretty much since birth. He is in Pediatric ICU at the moment for monitoring. Mom, Dad and Baby Sam need all the prayers they can get right now. Thanks.

I'm good with anything under $50 for the shower.
Speaking of showers, mine is April 2nd and my mom and girlfriends are throwing it for me at the country club in my apartment complex. My life long best friend that lives in KY is coming that weekend too and I'm excited. Mom gave me kinda bummer news last night though, 3 of my closest friends have other things that have come up for that day and they don't know if they will make it to my shower. I understand, but they are planning it and then possibly not coming?:confused: Oh well I guess. We have 45 guests on the list :eek: so I hope we get lots that we need so thats less we have to buy on our own.
Name for the front page Peyton
No time for SO's right now, but hope everyone is feeling well and having a good hump day!
Sorry everyone is having issues w/ their baby rooms… so frustrating…
Amurphy: I was the same way yesterday on the train home.. I almost feel like when I eat too much my belly gets so big it hurts my ribs so badly…. I think Pink you were saying your ribs hurt.. MINE KILL
Connors: I am with you I had the GTT done in December and I have to have it done again in 2 weeks.. it was not bad at all.. I guess I have tasted a lot worse.. LOL
Shower: Mine is supposed to be a surprise… (I really do not want to know)… so we shall see how that goes…
Amurphy: My cousin wrote me and said that the Zap only comes in red in the Sears up there and that there are having a sale right now.. I think it is around 179.00 or something…
Mrs. Brownie: I cannot see the photos.. :(
Excitied.. LOVE WENDY Bellismo.. so darn cute.. .great choices…
Shaq; Feel better
BabyLust: I will be keeping them in my thoughts..
Kaeden: I know you have me down for the shower but just chimming in again to say I am in… and 25-35 sounds great… will PM you.

Dan’s Girl – congrats on settling on a name. Peyton is a good choice. Your shower is right around the corner. I so wish I knew when mine will be. A surprise would be nice, but I just wanna know whether I’m having one for sure. Knowing that I’m having a shower is the only thing keeping me from buying everything on my registry.
Excited – I also love Wendy Bellissimo, so you have made a great choice.

Virtual Shower -- The $25-35 price range sounds good to me. I can do that but can't afford much more....
Not much to report except Connor's taken to squishing my belly with his hands to give Dawson little hugs. :) And, after spending a whole week with my parents visiting, he told me last night that he wants to take Dawson to Grandmaman's and Grandpapa's house to show his little brother their water distiller. (lol... funny thing is, he remembers their water distiller -- but we haven't been there since last JUNE!)
Oh...and we're officially going to become the stereotypical family this spring. We're buying a 2005 Chevy Uplander minivan. Bye Bye Blazer (aka. the mommy-mobile), I'll miss you! Long story, but we won't get the minivan right away -- though, we WILL get it within the next two months.

Not much to report. Just stopping in to say that I can't believe I'm 25 weeks! Holy cow! DH seems to be making fast progress on his "house projects" spreadsheet. The roofers showed up this morning! According to the spreadsheet, DH wasn't planning on completing that project until the end of April. Is it even possible that we are ahead of schedule?!
Baby is still sitting high, but causing me less discomfort today than yesterday. I opted for a cereal dinner last night because, as I told DH, the baby is taking up all available space and leaving no room for food. :rolleyes:
Kaeden's mom: I'm in for the virtual shower. I'll PM my info. ASAP. (I'm good with the $25-$35 spending limit.)
I know a little early for this... but I am trying to find cute nursing p'js for the hospital.... and not spend a fortune. I like the pants/capri's/shorts.. not into the gown.... anyone have any thoughts or ideas on these things...
I checked JcPenny's, (which is cute), destination maternity and I did a broad search on google... here are the ones I found that I thought were cute.

Can you wear capris or pants in the hospital? Seems like with them checking you and everything it would be kind of a pain. I hate gowns too tho so I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Are you guys bringing a robe too? What kind?

Very good to know Ryan.
Have any of you thought about clothes for after the baby is born? For those first few weeks? The only think I can think of is maybe getting some yoga pants and t-shirts from Old Navy. I want to be comfortable but also have something I can wear out of the house if I have to run to the store or something. Any ideas on that? Since it's not like we know what size we'll be after delivery and the coming weeks I'm not sure what to do.

PJs – I’m not a fan of gowns either, although in the summer I’m not much for PJ bottoms. For the short time that I expect to be there I am going to wear the hospital gown and bring a robe for any visitors. I do not plan on being in the hospital long so I expect to get few visitors. I will also bring slippers. Ryan, I like the ones you posted and hope to get a couple pair. I have one set from my sister that I’ll wear right after the baby since it has a really high waist.
Clothes for after baby – I love yoga pants so that is a great idea. Anything with a thick elastic waist is on my A-list. I have some transition pants that are getting too snug now so I may wear those too afterwards until I can fit into my pre-pg clothes.

Clothing for after… I've given this a bit of thought. I'll do mostly what I did last time -- wore the ole' maternity no panel jeans (they have side pull tabs and go over OR fold under the belly). It was nice to be able to cinch the tabs inwards by several inches two days after giving birth. I wore those (or a pair of cotton drawstring maternity yoga type pants) along with a maternity t-shirt (no empire waist, please!) for the next two weeks while I spent most of my days at the hospital. Upon coming home, I wore either PJs all day…or I put on the drawstring yoga pants at home. I think it was around 2 weeks that I started wearing my pre-pg low rise jeans (that were actually a bit too big on me pre-pg) with a belt whenever I went out in public…I could fit into them, but damn, the butt/thighs were snug and they were not very comfy for sitting down and nursing, so as soon as we'd come back in the door, I'd be back in my yoga pants.
This time, I plan on doing much the same…but when it comes time to move back into regular jeans a couple of weeks later, I think I'll have DH take me shopping and I'll buy a pair or two of jeans in a size up. Maybe with a bit of stretch in them too, for sitting down/nursing when out in public or when other people are around. I got a pair of great jeans from the Gap early last fall that would fit the bill except I'll probably need a size up from them for a couple months.
The only other issue is nursing bras. I hate the two that I have (oen is a boxed brand…and the other was from Thyme maternity, but it had an underwire which was ok(but of course, not recommended) and one of the wires is now poking out. So I'm back to square one. I have two nursing tanks which I bet I"ll wear a lot…. I'll probably make due with the old boxed bra that I hate plus the tanks for about a week PPD. Then when my milk has come in, I'll splurge on a Bravado, wait another couple of weeks when my size has stabilized..and add another Bravado to my collection.

I wore a hospital gown before ds was born then after he was born I put on one of my own gowns. I thought it would be a hassell to keep pulling down pants before he was born so they could check me. This time I plan on taking some pj's, gown, robe & slippers. gown before she is born, pj's, robe & slippers for afterwards when guest come to the hospital to visit.
I showed 3 of my coworkers today how to run billing batches (main part of my job!) so they would know how to do it when I am gone. Oh my - it really put things into perspective.
Dh & I went over names AGAIN last night. we found a few more that both of us like - Reese, Kendall, Reagan, kennedy - We must have a thing for presidents. lol

Hi everyone!
Kaeden's Mommy: I pm'd you with my virtual shower info. Should be fun! :)
I had my 1 hr. GTT this morning. I don't know when I'll get the results, but I didn't think it was bad at all. The stuff they gave me tasted just like Orange Crush, and I thoroughly enjoyed it since I don't usually let myself indulge in things like that. :p With that said, however, I hope I passed so I don't have to do it again.
Something that was very shocking for me was that I didn't gain any weight since my last appointment 4 weeks ago! I saw a nurse practitioner today, and she didn't say anything about it, and the baby's heartbeat was nice and strong, so I guess I'll just be happy! My next appointment is March 29th, which is only 3 weeks away, and after that she said I'll probably start every 2 weeks. We're really getting down to crunch time, ladies. :eek:
I finally bought some crib bedding from overstock.com. It has monkeys in a variety of bright colors on it. DH's aunt offered to buy paint and paint the room for us, so I really needed to get on the ball with deciding on the bedding. And the room we're using as the nursery has never had actual windows in it, only storms (the previous owners took the windows with them?), so we ordered the windows last weekend. Now all we have to do is clean it out since it's basically been a room-sized closet since DH and I got married. And I talked DH into setting a little bit of our tax refund aside so that I could buy a few additional things for the nursery, like baskets and a floor lamp.
I think that's about all that's happening in our neck of the woods. Oh yeah, our prenatal classes will be Wednesday evenings in April, and my church is planning a shower for me on May 1st. My sister is planning a shower for me, too, as are my coworkers, but they are all waiting until after the baby is born. Totally selfish reasons on their part, and they all admit it. :rolleyes:

Question for RO's or anyone who may know: Is it necessary to have t-shirts for after the umbilical cord falls off or will I only need onesies or is just up to my preference? How long does it take for cord to fall off- a few weeks, right? Will I need onesies in the 0-3 size or will he probably be growing out of that size by the time the cord falls off? Should I skip that and go straight for the next size?
I really dont remember this from when I had ds so it will be nice to see what others will say - I remember it took about 7-10 days for his cord to fall off.

To wear at the hospital- I think I am just going to grab a pair of my capri yoga pants in black for the hospital and then a zip/button shirt for easy access. Make things as easy as possible to bf.
After I get home- I have a collection of sweats/yoga pants over the years and plan to wear that and DH's clothes around the house and quick errands. Haven't really put much thought into it besides that. I do need to look into some nursing bras and tanks. I just worry about buying stuff this early since I have no clue what size I'll be.

sunshine thank you for reposting that!! I love your names by the way.
what to wear in the hospital I heard somewhere a recommendation that you should just stick with the hospital gowns so that you don't ruin your own stuff or nice new jammies with all of the bleeding. Thoughts?
post-pg clothes I was going to get a few pairs of athletic-type shorts and capris. I already have a lot of pants. I like the capri gauchos that are out right now. I think even though they're a stretchy, comfy type material, with a nice top and sandals, they still make a pretty nice looking outfit. I don't want to spend too much not knowing what size I'll be. Whenever I get back down to my regular size (which I'm determined to do), I'm going to need to go on a real shopping spree. Being PG this year, I didn't buy anything, and didn't buy any new clothing the year before because we had just built our house.
pinkI really like Hayden Cooper
I had a dr's appt. today. Luckily, I saw the other dr. in the practice and not mine, b/c I gained 9 pounds this month! He would have really been upset with me. The female dr. told me that she doesn't think its too bad, she doesn't think I look overly huge, that I was a small person to begin with, and that my dr. is just a complete stickler over weight gain. She made me feel a bit better, but holy crap, I've gained 33 pounds so far. I'm counting from pre-preg, but my dr. is counting from my 8 week visit, so officially I guess its only 28. He only wanted me to gain 30 total. I'm so scared I'm going to end up with an extra 50 pounds to lose. But everything else was fine.
I can't remember who else was worried about this, but I asked about the baby not moving consistently and the dr. said you really don't have to worry about that until about the 28 week mark. After that, she said you should be able to pick up a pattern.
I have a script to go in for my GTT before I go back for my next appt. My next appt. is March 29th

sunshine ~ Great names! Kennedy is my favorite.
Pink ~ Yay for choosing Hayden Cooper! It's such a great name.

We never used t-shirts with DS. He was born at 7 lbs. 14 oz. and the 0-3 month onesies were plenty loose so they didn't rub on the umbilical cord. The 0-3 month onesies fit him for at least the first 3 months. The cord should fall off within 7-10 days.
Graffy ~ I love that monkey bedding! It's so cute and perfect for a gender-neutral nursery.
Hospital wear ~ I love the capri pjs. When DS was born I just wore the hospital gown and hated it. I'd love to buy something cute this time.
Baby Shower ~ Thanks for all the PMs. We've got quite the group going so we should have a fun and successful baby shower. It seems like the $25-35 range works for everyone.

Quick Pity Post
So, I feel like I have gained a bajillion pounds. My back and hips are all squishy. My face is so pale and I've been breaking out so the blemishes stand right out. I've surpassed the double chin and now have a triple chin. :eek: I haven't been overeating, and I'm not eating a lot of exceptionally fatty foods so I can't understand how I've already gained more than 20 pounds. DH made a comment back before we were TTC about how he couldn't imagine having sex with someone that was big and pregnant. It was just a casual comment in passing, and I don't think he realized what he said could be considered hurtful, but now I can't stop thinking about it. We DTD about once a week, and that's only because I initiate it. I can't help wondering if he is repulsed by me and it's just pity sex. Gah. I know I'm being totally ridiculous here and that's it's probably just the preggo hormones, but I can't help it. :( I just want to cry.

Hospital Clothes: Last time I stayed in the hospital gown for the first night (Mia was born at 3:06 in the afternoon). After that my bleeding slowed down to a managable amount and I put on yoga pants and a t-shirt after a shower the next morning. It made me much more comfortable for when people came to visit (especially co-workers). That way, if I had to get up to go to the bathroom I didn't have to worry about flashing someone.
Clothes for after: Not sure what I'll do this time around. Last time it was fall so I lived in stretch pants and sweats. Being summer, it'll be way too hot this time. Guess I need to figure that out.
Last time we used t-shirts until her cord fell off (about 10 days). Then we switched to onsies. We wouldn't have been able to get away with a onsie right off the bat- her cord seeped initially and would have made a mess. As for a size- it depends on the baby. Mia was less than 7 pounds, so she fit into the 0-3 months size until she was 3 months.

Mystikal ~ I can totally relate to your post above and while I don't have time for a lot of replies, wanted to post (or complain) myself.
I ASKED DH if we could have sex tonight (yes, it's gotten to the point where I'm now asking for it.) He finally came out and said that he just didn't feel comfortable having sex with me anymore.
We had our first prenatal class last night, and although I'm so surprised by this, he was a little freaked out by the ladies water breaking...I don't think the delivery part phased him as much as the water gushing (it wasn't a slow leak) and going everywhere.
Now, he says he's just not 'That interested' in it anymore.
Me, I feel like I'm VERY interested in it right now...and he won't come anywhere near me, or let me go anywhere near him. He used to like to cop a feel of my BB's when I got out of the shower, but now that they 'Leak' he doesn't want to touch them.
What's up with that...and how do I get him to change his mind. I don't know if I want to go the next 12 weeks (plus 6 weeks PPD) without having sex. I was/am so frustrated (and a little shocked) but don't know what to do about it. And I got to be honest, I don't know if my pregnant and distorted body would appeal to me if I were in his place...
It SUCKS! Any words of advice from RO or anyone else for that matter?

Mystikal and Mrs Brownie: I'm sorry girls I really dont know what to say.
Dh & I are still trying to DTD but is is getting harder - we have to try other positions now & baby girl still seems to go crazy when we are at it so it kinda freaks be out & gets me out of the mood.
My dh made the comment the other night ... "pretty soon you will not be able to fit into those pants anymore" - I must have gave him a look to kill - cause he said "I dont mean it bad, our baby girl is just rapidly growing right now".
I had a fashion crisis yesterday morning while getting ready for work - I could not find a shirt that looked right alot of them are getting tooo clingy. So I went & bought me 2 shirts (in a bigger size) on the way to work. Dh commented last night on how cute they look & that I have that preg. motherly glow. I guess he was trying to make up for the pants comment the night before. men :rolleyes: they just have no clue!!!!!

Mystikal and Mrsbrownie You are not alone, ladies. I'm in your situation, too. DH has been very polite about the whole thing and hasn't really said much, but I know him well enough to know what's going on. He is freaked out in general by any type of "female stuff," so I know the pregnancy stuff is really throwing him off. We already haven't DTD for over a month and since I'm only going to get bigger, I don't see it happening from here on out. Like you, Mrsbrownie, I can't imagine going so long without it! And what kind of shape will my body be in post-partum after 6 weeks, will it even happen then? I'm also really scared that after this whole thing and delivery, that he won't ever be interested again. My feelings about this are very conflicted. On one hand, I can understand how I'm probably not all that attractive right now in that way. But on the other hand, I'm still the same person on the inside that I was when I was thin and it kinda hurts my feelings. I'm not sure I would even want to DTD, cause sexy is that last thing I feel, but it would be nice if DH wanted it. DH has been incredibly kind and loving in other ways, so I try to focus on that. And hope that some day, things will get back to normal.
I have a friend who is also PG. She's due about a week ahead of me. She is always sharing details with me about how they have to try to find positions to avoid her belly, etc, etc. It makes me feel really awkward cause I have nothing to share. I don't want to come right out and say we aren't doing it AT ALL. She told me the other day how she called him into the bathroom to check out the mucus that she had just wiped off after she went to the bathroom. My DH would freak if I did that and probably never touch me again. I couldn't believe that story. I guess everyone's relationship is different.

Um... I hessitate to post this, but I'm going to have the opposite problem (re: sex) very soon. We still do it regularly and DH doesn't mind the belly. LOL, in fact I think it kinda turns him on knowing it's a pg belly and not a "my wife eats too many doritos" belly. Anyway, we make do. We are slowing down in that dept. a little. BUT the day is fast approaching when I'm going to have to put the breaks on our sex life. I've already had to really watch myself... mid-O, my uterus really hardens and starts to hurt and that freaks me out so I have to stop myself mid-O. The reason I do that and the reason I'm freaked out about it is because when I was 33 weeks pg with Connor, I had fairly regular cramping after having an O - lasted for several hours before going away. At the time I figured it must be just BH's that I'd "heard" about. It was shortly after that time that I noticed my discharge had gotten more rubbery and "chunky". Two weeks later, same thing happened after an O -- I had cramping (like AF cramps) that were making me uncomfortable. So I told DH that I was just going to get out of bed and wait for the cramping to stop like it did a couple weeks earlier. But this time when I got up, I went to the bathroom and felt myself pass something really weird. Turning on the light and looking in, we discovered I passed a clot. I put a pad on and decided to wait and see what was going on. So, there I was surfing the internet at midnight, trying to take my mind offf it...when I noticed each cramp was about 2-3 min after the last one....
They say that sex can't bring on labour until the baby is READY to come out but I really wonder about that, after what happened to me.... and so I think in a few weeks, I'm going to have to have the talk with DH that he's cut off until I either reach 37 weeks or Dawson is born. He is not going to be very happy about that...but he's going to have to cope and I'm going to have to deal with the guilt of not being able to trust my body to not put my in labour after sex.

Hello All :D
Wanted to come in and respond really quickly to Mystikal and Mrsbrownie before I have to run out...
With Nikolas Brian was afraid of Nikolas. It had nothing to do with me or my body changing, he just didn't know how it was going to affect him. He made some kind comment about him being "right there" where his penis was going to be. Towards the end and when he realized that it didn't affect him he was ok with it.
For us the most comfortable way is me on my side with him behind me. My belly doesn't get in the way.
The only advice I can give is if he doesn't want to DTD, try masturbating in front of him. Once he sees you doing that, he'll be aroused and want to join in. You may or may not be done by then, and if you are, oh well it's his loss. He'll see what he's missing out on.
You can also try wearing something cute (you can get some cute things at WalMart & KMart for cheap). And whatever you do, don't complain or make any comments about the baby while you're having foreplay or DTD. If you don't bring it up, it won't be in the forefront of their minds. If the baby kicks or is laying the wrong way, instead of saying it hurts, say "let's try a different position".
Things will get back to normal eventually. I will admit it wasn't right after the 6 weeks for us but it did happen. Getting up every 3 hours was tough after Nikolas was born and he was in our room. That freaked me out more than him. I wouldn't do anything if he moved. And if he moved during, well it was over. I eventually got over that too.
I hope my little book here helps a little. Keep your heads up and know that you are beautiful to me :D

Mystikal, jbenny and Mrs Brownie – Some DHs seem unsure about what may harm that baby so they end up say stupid things. They need to be reassured somehow that being pregnant is very sexy.
I have to admit that I’m the one that keeps us from DTD. I’m one of those women that has lost the desire. DH thinks that I’m very sexy while pregnant so I feel bad for denying him. I occasionally jump his bones, but it is very rare. I agree with Nikosmommy. We may have to put in a little more effort for them to see that we are still sexy and are still the “wife” and not only the “mommy”.
Sunshine – I love to wear stretchy clingy clothes. DH thinks it is sexy and it makes me feel more like I’m pregnant and not just fat and frumpy.

I can't post much on this subject as someone we know has figured out who I am on these boards so sometimes I have to be a little more PC than I would like. (that's how she found out we were pregnant! :rolleyes: )
But I did want to say that I am closer to jbenny on this subject. so again, you are not alone ladies. and to be honest, it makes me feel better to know that I am not alone either. I worry that it's taken a bit of a toll on our relationship though, at least from my side. . my DH is the most wonderful man in the world and treats me like I am gold but I find myself worrying about whether he is really happy or not. He did tell me last night that I was beautiful right now and that he couldn't tell I had gained 18 pounds other than in the baby belly area!

Just wanted to say that I think my DH is going through some of the same things. I get lots of love and attention and snuggles. He loves my body and my new shape but I think he hears me complain too often about my lil ailments and doesn't want to harm anything (like throw my hip out or bounce the baby too much). He doesn't say anything he just avoids DTD.
So I have some fun news... My wedding photographer is a family friend and she wants to borrow my belly! She's still starting out her own business and does everything from weddings to Senior photos, to baby shots. She's going to give me a disc of all the pictures for free for letting her take my belly shots!! I am so excited... She is really laid back and a ton of fun. Do you guys know anywhere to find some good examples/poses for professional belly shots? She has some ideas but I think she wants to try it all!

This is kinda how I feel:
I'm not sure I would even want to DTD, cause sexy is that last thing I feel, but it would be nice if DH wanted it.
Last time we did do it I said do you feel guilty now because of the baby and he said yes, and to tell you the truth I did too.
He basically admitted he sees me as a "mommy" right now and just doesn't want to do those things, after I pryed it out of him. I'm ok with it, as long as it doesn't last after the baby is here. I totally predicted he'd feel that way way before we were pregnant.
I have an OB appt. at 1:45 today.

lilmrs I bumped up the Professional Belly Shots thread, then I saw you were already viewing it. That's great that she's doing that for you!

Aww. Thanks, nikosmommy.
DTD I don't really think my DH is afraid of hurting the baby. I think it's more the different shape and he knows his little boy is right there. He did tell me once that he's not one of those guys who think pregnant women are sexy. Nikosmommy, gave some good advice, but I'm not really comfortable going after it. I'm afraid it might just be pity sex and that's the worst. It's also kind of hard to feel sexy enough to go after it when you feel like the Goodyear Blimp. :)

Highlights:
- BP was good...low end of normal, as usual
- Measuring at 26 weeks, so right on target
- Dawson's HB was good and strong - about 150 BPM
- weight is down a pound for a total of 9 lbs gained. THat was a total shocker -- I could have sworn I gained a BUNCH of weight this month. I'm feeling it in my butt and thighs, especially. I've also been eating a LOT lately (and more rich foods than I care to admit). Well, I *was* sick with the flu over 3 weeks ago and had very little appetite for two of those days, so that may have affected my weight loss...but still, that was almost a month ago! Dr. isn't concerned b/c I'm measuring on target and nothing else has changed.
- GTT -- I got the requisition form. Dr. said she usually wants women to get it done between 24-28 weeks, so obviously, that means anytime between now and the last week of March. I think I'll go into work a bit early this coming Monday and pop into the blood lab downstairs when it opens at 7:30. Dr. said it was ok for me to eat something prior as long as I stay away from sugary stuff. However, if I fail it and have to go for the two hour (apparently they do a 2 hour test here), I would have to fast for that.
- Got a kit to do a bacterial vaginosis swab and bring it to the lab. Two months ago during my first OB visit, the other Dr. mentioned that that COULD have been a cause for preterm labour last time, and that they would monitor me with regular swabs throughout this pg. However, I didn't get one last month, and I pretty much had to insist on it this time. I just don't want to take the chance now that I'm 6 months along...
I go back on April 4th at 29 weeks. That will also be my second "work day" without a job, so I'll have the OB fill out a medical certificate at that appt. and then will head straight to the EI office to apply for my sickness benefits.

I have to agree that this part is getting tougher for us too. Dh does not initiate anymore, but he doesn't say no either (if I have good timing). I know that he is worried and would prefer not to DTD. If freaks him out. I have to be careful not to talk to him about the things that are coming out of my body or else he'd stop altogether no doubt.
On another note, I had a really bad episode yesterday. I was not careful with my lunch and had too much sugar. Well 1.5 hr after lunch I started feeling really bad: queesy, cold sweat, rapid heart rate and breathing, and was going to pass out. All of this while sitting at my desk at work. I used to occasionaly get this a long time ago (back when I was a sweets "junky"). So I gathered all my efforts and made it to our nurse at the other end of the building. It's a miracle I didn't pass out on the way.
Most of my vitals were ok, except my blood sugar was 169. She really wanted me to see my doctor but when I called, the nurse said all I should do is take it easy, unless the doc called me back. She didn't. My next appt is in 2 weeks. I passed the 1 hr GTT two weeks ago with 83, so I don't know what this means.
So now I am paranoid about eating anything sweet. Thankfully Annabelle has not slowed down her activity at all since then, so I know she must be fine. Any advice ladies?

What a relief...I was so concerned that we were the only ones going through it (and yesterday was really the first I had heard about DH being hesitant.)
After all that though at 4:15 am (that's right, in the middle of my precious sleep) DH had what I call and episode. He has a tendency to sleep talk (sometimes sleep walk too) but he will carry on full conversations with me while he's still asleep. I normally don't wake him up, but learned to just keep talking to him until he falls back asleep.
Last night he turns to me and informs me that all the garbage has been taken out and everything is cleaned up. I told him that was nice of him to do...then he starts rubbing my back. I was waiting for him to start talking some more, but he continued to rub getting a little more adventurous. Finally he says something along the line of 'Are you in the mood...' I turn and ask if he's awake or asleep...because although I was asking for it earlier in the night, I wasn't that interested at 4:15 in the morning.
The bugger then pulls his hand away and says that I'm right, it's too late for it and that maybe another time he didn't know what he was doing. He then promptly rolls over and goes back to sleep...meanwhile, I'm left struggling to get back to sleep (of course I have to get up and pee too) and he's asleep already.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't have taken advantage of the moment...but I'm sick (night time is the worst as my nose gets totally plugged) and was more interested in sleep. But WHAT WAS THE MAN THINKING? GRRRRRR, he better remember this incident tonight when I suggest it to him again.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments on our bedding.
I got my test results back from the GTT late yesterday. Everything is fine, no GD, but I'm anemic. So now I'm taking iron supplements. And I bought me some colace, so hopefully I won't have, ahem, issues.
I'm sympathetic to all of you having DTD issues. I think DHs, especially first-time-father-to-be DHs, just don't really have a clue what to expect or what to think at this point. I mean, their lovely wives have suddenly taken on different shapes, looks, and sometimes attitudes, and now that we're down to the home stretch the reality is really hitting home (at least for my DH) that there is soon going to be an addition to the family. If only they understood how important it is for us as women to know that they find us beautiful and desirable while we're carrying their children. But if men understood what we women would like them to understand, well, they would probably be women. :rolleyes:
My DH seems pretty fascinated by my new body (especially the large economy size bbs), but he doesn't really initiate sex too often. I think he still wants it, the problem is that my drive has seriously diminished with these added preggo hormones. Confession: I haven't O'd once since I found out I was pg. :( And I can't seem to get lubed up enough, even with artificial stuff, for it to be anywhere near comfortable. I guess it's hard for him to enjoy when he sees me cringing from the discomfort. It's really hard for me to imagine another 3 months, plus the 6 weeks pp with no DTD, but I also can't really imagine doing it the way it feels now. I still try to do plenty of cuddling and foreplay with DH, but I usually help him finish manually.
And Mrs. Brownie- good luck in your travails. If DH woke me up at 4 am to DTD, he'd better be ready and willing to do anything I want him to for the next week. :cool:

DTD ~ Sorry to hear about the concerns Mystikal, MrsBrownie and jbenny are having. DH's are so often freaked out by "woman stuff" and not sure how to handle it. I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you other than to tell you it will be back to normal sometime. As far as DH watching you give birth and never being interested again - I wouldn't think that would happen as my DH was very squirmy about that when I was pg with DS and once DS was born and he saw the process he was amazed at how beautiful it really is.
My DH is on the other side of the spectrum. He's very attracted to my pg body and wants to DTD a few times/week. So far it's doable, but as I get bigger I'm less comfortable and interested so we'll see what happens.

My appt. went well. I am down another lb. but the Dr. is not worried yet. My total weight gain at 25 weeks is 5 lbs so far. He said he really thinks I will catch up and be wishing it would stop piling on instead of worrying about not gaining like I am now. He said by my next appt. he bets I put on 3 lbs, don't know where he got that figure but we'll see. He said the baby is growing beautifully! HB was 144 and strong :) . Hayden kicked when he put the doppler on me, it made a loud thump, it was funny! He said there was lots of movement and I also told him he moves a lot at home and he said that was great! He also said he seems to prefer the right side, just like I've been saying all along. He said enjoy the next two months because come May it's gonna be hot and I'm gonna be ready to get this kid out!
Re: The pain I felt while exercising-Dr. said as long as it's on the side, my uterus isn't hardening, I don't feel pain shooting down my leg or into my back, it's fine to keep walking thru it. It's just round ligament pain.
My next appt. is in 3 weeks and we will schedule the GTT then. I'll be 28 weeks and so many days.
DTD-hubby would do it 8 times a day if I let him. He's lucky if it happens once a week. I have absolutely zero drive but once I get into it, I'm surprised at how aroused I am, more so than when I'm not PG (oh, these crazy hormones). My advice would be not to press the issue and approach DH the way you would want to be approached, like just starting with a casual massage and see where your hands lead and if he "stands at attention". Things will get back to normal. Plus, I'm usually feeling like I got beat up afterwards...:rolleyes:

Thanks to everyone for responding, eventhough I'm not the initial poster on this one, I'm reassured to know it's not just me.
Luckily DH is very loving and giving in other things, hopefully we will overcome this. I do need to sit down and have a talk with him though. I don't think the issue is that he's not attracted to me or finds my 'new' body repulsive...I think it's more that he's worried about hurting me, hurting our child, bumping his head, etc, etc, etc...
Who knows! I just wish my desire for it had decreased. I've found in this second trimester my sex drive has definitely increased and I'm always ready for it. Although I must admit that I'm enjoying the shorter versions (we don't have to be doing marathon sex all the time) much more and it's not taking ANY TIME for me to O (I can O at the drop of a hat it seems.) That's maybe my whole issue with it, that I'm enjoying it and wanting it and he's not. I'm sure we will work it out.
On the good side, I realized that I have only two more months of work left as of next Tuesday...I can hardly believe it and there is so much to be done in that time. But, when I'm done, I'm done!
Pink ~ Congrats on only gaining 5 lbs...I stepped on the scale this morning and figured I was up about 15 pounds (give or take a few) and will probably not stay within my 20 pound limit. But I'm fine with that, I think. Although must admit it's hard to watch the scale increasing, when my whole life has been about decreasing those numbers. At least it's for a good cause (and with my mat clothes, I'm not really noticing the increase in weight anyways...that's always nice!)
Gaffy ~ My DH is a boob man and was THRILLED with the SuperSized BB's until he found out that they aren't just for show and actually do something now (leak) He wasn't happy about that and I think he's actually shyed away from them now. I suppose I should've kept the whole thing quiet, but I was so excited and happy that they worked that I couldn't NOT share it with him (although maybe he didn't need to see it either.)
Izzy ~ Love the name you've chosen...Annabelle is so beautiful and classic (and has great NN potential.) I didn't notice it before, but it's just great.
Pink ~ Just wanted to say that I LOVE your name choice too. Hayden was at the top of our list too until it was snatched out from beneath us...onto to other choices though.

Quick fly-by post:
Sorry to all those having DTD issues. My drive is way down but I've also had a cyst down there (ugh!) and it seems to have a burning stretching feeling every time we DTD. DH is amazingly patient and wonderful and tells me I'm sexy nearly every day though so I cannot complain at all. And he takes whatever he can get with a cheerful attitude. Ah I married a prince me thinks. :)
GTT results are back!! I passed with flying colours and my iron levels are all high so that was a relief!
I can't believe how unorganised I feel for this baby's appearance. I swear I have nothing organised....ah well. It'll happen. :)

Another issue I'm having trouble with: For some reason it really bugs me when people tell me I'm not that big. If I comment on my weight gain, being huge, not being able to put my shoes on, I get, "Oh, you're not that big." "You just have a little belly." "You're still tiny, just wait." OMG, I want to slap them. Don't tell me that I'm not big people. I'm the one carrying around an extra 30 pounds. I'm the one that went into maternity clothes before I was three months PG. I'm the one who waddles around and can't put my shoes on or bend over. Don't tell me that I'm not big!
End of rant. Thanks. :)

jbenny ~ Sorry people are being so insensitive when you need to vent about the downside of being pregnant. From your belly shots I think you look great. You seem to be right on track for where you should be. People used to tell me I wasn't that big when I was pg with DS, but that didn't mean I was comfortable with the extra weight and belly. Seeing a pg belly seems to make people think we want to hear what they have to say no matter what. :rolleyes:

Wow...it's so quiet today. I had problems getting in first thing this morning, but we are almost on the second page. That just will not due for us June Mommies.
Anyone noticed that we seem to have a lot more mommies than most of the other groups. I wonder what that says about our conceiving month (September/October) as it wasn't overly cold, there was tons of new stuff starting on TV, kids were back in school...hmmm!
Anyways, I'm so thankful that today is Friday. I can't wait for 5:00 to come tonight, can't come soon enough. I'm heading home to watch TV while DH enertains his BF who's visiting this weekend.
Our new freezer comes tomorrow and I think I'm going to see if I can get my hair cut and highlighted tomorrow too. Nothing too exciting, but it will be so wonderful to relax, sleep in and not worry about work!
Have a great day everyone!

JBenny- I hear the same damn thing! I have gone from 130 on my wedding date (July '05) to 172 at my last appointment. Don't tell me that I am tiny and hardly showing!!

Sorry ladies to hear about the insensitive comments. I'm getting the whole range too. I think people just get so excited about babies that they feel like the HAVE to say something. Unfortunately, sometimes they would be better off not saying anything!!!
We are planning to paint our nursery this weekend. My Dutailier glider is scheduled to arrive on Monday. I am excited to see our progress after that!
I just found out that they will be having Baby Boot Camp close to home this summer. I definitely plan to register for that. It's kind of pricey but I'm sure it will be worth it.
MIL gave us money to go buy our stroller/car seat. I plan to do that in the next couple of weeks. We've already selected it, just have to pick it up.

We need to pay the balance on the glider/ottoman…about $550 and buy my breast pump…about $350. This is assuming we get the essentials off of our registry. We have 43 items remaining (1 has been bought) so I think it is possible.

That would be a 2005 Chevy Uplander minivan (ack!) that we're working out the details on right now. :)
I've also got a lead on a second hand Fisher Price Kick & Play bouncy seat for $30 (rather than $70 retail) that I'm probably going to pick up tomorrow. Then, we'll have all the "equipment" we need (I think!)
...and cloth diapers will be the other major purchase (though this will be more of an ongoing thing rather than one big purchase before Dawson is here).

Izzy ~ Good luck with the painting. I'm pushing DH to get the mouldings up so I can do a thorough clean (vacuum carpets and wash windows) of the room and start getting it ready for funiture (it better be in soon...I don't know how I'm going to continue waiting patiently if it doesn't.
Purchase ~ There are only two things that I feel we need to invest in before the baby arrives, and even both of these are somewhat unnecessary.
I want to get our stroller. We have decided on getting a Peg Perego P3 and my mom is going to purchase it for us. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to go to the store (we have to go to a specialty store) and order it. But I will make it a priority soon.
And the other thing I would like to get is a bookcase or bookshelf for the baby's room. I'm going to see if I can order one to match the set we bought (never thought about it back then) or we will buy an unfinished one and paint it to match the room colour. In any case, not essential, but I would like to get one soon.
Other than that, I think we pretty much have what we need. Everything we get as gifts (or at a shower should we have one) will be extras.

LOL, Wade knows I've ordered a few CDs, but I don't think he realizes I have 18 kissaluvs and several covers on their way to me right now. Nor has he mentioned anything about the 5-pack of kushies Ultra AIOs in our closet yet. He's in for a bit of a surprise, that boy! ;)
(slightly OT: I must say I'm pretty pleased with the resale on used Kushies Ultra AIOs infant size -- on eBay, used 5-packs of the same size are going for the same price as I bought these ones for brand new -- and in one case recently, someone bought the same dipes used for MORE than my brand new ones)

I'm starting to get really scared about actually having this baby. I'm reading The Birth Book by Dr. Sears and it's scaring me. You can tell they are really pro non-medicated birth and pro having them at home or somewhere other than a hospital and stuff like that. And everything I read says how you shouldn't have the baby lying on your back in stirrups and it's better to stand or squat or whatever I am planning on getting an epidural so I'm assuming this is the only way I can deliver. I'm also absolutely terrified of an episiotomy. I don't know if I should ask him to let me tear unless it's absolutely necessary to cut or what. The book is telling me that Dr.'s often do it uncessarily just to hurry up and get the baby out. I'm just getting really worked up about all of this. Anyone else having fears already?
ds2003
03-12-2006, 12:26 PM
pink - If you have no plans of having a natural birth then maybe you should also read something that covers medicated births. Everything I've read and been told is that lying flat on your back is the worse thing you can do. In the hospital, you can raise the bed so that you are more in an incline or upright position. The goal is to let gravity help and not have the uterus lying on you spine. The advantages of squatting is that it helps open up the pelvic region. If you are having an epidural than that is out of the question, but you can change the bed position at the hospital to help. If you do not want an episiotmy then I would tell the ob. I've had friends who tear and some that don't. One of them that didn't tear told me that the midwife who attended the deliver had patience and massaged the area to help it stretch. I think the key to avoiding it is patience. Don't try to rush the baby out. Your body needs time to adjust to what is happening. Your body is made to birth a baby. If you keep that in mind hopefully it should help relieve the fear. Also, the more you tense up during the labor and deliver, the harder it will be and the more painful it will be. One thing I'm learning in my birthing class is how to keep my body relaxed. We have daily relaxation techniques that we have to do. I can see it coming in handy on the big day.
My Bradley Method instructor is pro assisted home birth although she is not pushing the idea on us. I don't think I could do it especially not with my first. I can sorta tell that DH is intrigued by the idea. We saw a video of a home birth at our first class. I can see how it really isn't a big deal, but I still don't feel comfortable doing it.

Saw that we were on the verge of being pushing onto page 2 so I thought I should post instead of just lurking (as I did all weekend)!
Next big purchase: We have our stroller, infant seat, crib, and crib mattress so the big ticket items are all taken care of. I do need to get a breast pump and decide whether I want my father to buy us our second (more compact) stroller.
Weekend: I started my Saturday at 6:30 a.m. I just couldn't sleep. So I got up, had some cereal, and started cleaning the house. I was done with the whole thing by 10 and had the rest of the day to enjoy the beautiful weather. While DH was doing some work outside, I cleaned out our car and tried out the car seat. And because it was so nice out, all our neighbors were out and about so the news of my pregnancy spread very very quickly. We spent that afternoon/early evening with our friends who are due with their second child in May and then stopped by another friend's house late that evening to celebrate his birthday. I had to end the night a little earlier than my DH would have liked because I was so uncomfortable. Our friend's couch is way too unstructured and I felt like the baby was sitting on my chest. Ugh.
Went to brunch with some friends on Sunday and stopped by Gap. They had four huge racks of maternity clothes on sale for $9.97. I didn't go too crazy though. I picked up a cardigan, buttondown, stretch shirt, and jersey skirt. Not too shabby.
Is anyone feeling like the maternity clothes you bought at the beginning of the pregnancy are getting a little snug? My pants feel a bit less comfortable lately. :(
That's about all I have to report. The baby has been really active lately. My sister finally got to see the belly jumping last night. Oh. And DH had his head on my belly on Friday night and the baby kicked him in the ear. So funny!

QOTD: Company after the birth ~ My mom will be coming to stay with us for a week. She'll mostly help out with Kaeden and with cooking and cleaning, etc. My step-dad will come for a day or two, but no more due to his crazy work schedule. That will be it as my ILs are NOT going to be invited.

QOTD: Company after the birth my MIL is planning on coming for 2 wks after the baby is here - hopefully I will let her stay that long - I am sure I will need to help but 2 wks :eek: - hopefully she will take ds back with her for a few weeks to give me, dh & new baby some alone time.

Snug Clothes – Yes. My pants from the earlier pregnant days are getting way to snug. The ones I wear for my belly shot are getting to tight under the belly. I think they have gone in to retirement until baby #2. I have a pair of low panel dressy pants that I love, but I’m not sure If they will last much longer. The panel is getting a little tight and now it keeps rolling down under the belly and it isn’t very comfy. Luckily, thanks to my clothes inheritance from my cousin, I still have quite a few pants to choose from although some of them are tapered leg which are not my style. She also gave me a couple pair of capris so I’m just waiting for warm weather. My struggle is with shirts. I don’t have enough variety that are suitable for work.
Amurphy – I’m finding that sofas and reclined chairs are becoming more uncomfortable as well.. I watched a friend’s son (at his home) last week while his wife was out of town and he and my DH were removing their old dishwasher and installing a new one. I was so uncomfortable the first night on the couch that I took a pilates/yoga mat the next night to use of the floor (they have hardwood floors). Sitting on the floor was much more comfortable. At home I have replaced my chair in front of the TV with a yoga mat, a couple blankets, some pillows and a exercise/birthing ball. I alternate between the mat and the ball.
QOTD – company after birth – My mom is coming up the week before I’m due and staying for about a week or two after the baby. She will then come back mid August and stay to mid October. I plan to go back to work right after Labor Day so she will be here for about 1.5 months after that until daycare starts. Not sure about the ILs plan. They would only come up for a weekend. They (meaning MIL) will mostly insist and use guilt to try to convince us to drive there all the time. SIL will come up more often I’m sure.

we had a super busy week-end! but it was productive which was good:)
next big purchase well that arrived on saturday! we got our new bedroom furniture and mattress and boy was i excited. we've waited so long for that and i'd finally had enough and told dh that we HAVE to get it before the baby comes so we did. we also had to get our office condensed and spent the w/end doing such - new bookshelves, smaller computer desk (not so happy about that but oh well) and now our office is a mess. i have TONS of books to go through and we have to get that room organized and move our guest room furniture into the office, so our nursery can start taking shape. baby's furniture is supposed to arrive this week and the last piece next week.
snug clothes not really - but my shirts are obviously short and i didnt want to buy much for winter. i'm actually still wearing a lot of non-maternity (depends on the style) but i need to get some tanks tops and shorts and such for the warmer weather (it took me an hour to decide what to wear yday just to go to the store cos it was hot and i had nothing to wear). so the whole clothing dept for me is NOT fun and i actually dread having to find stuff to wear :(
QOTD: Company after the birth my mum will here for a little while - i hope for at least a mth. but not sure on the time frame as yet - she's coming from south africa so definitely not cost effective to spend just a week! and i figure it would be beneficial to have her for as long as possible (even if she might get on my nerves at times) but she can help me with cooking and cleaning, esp when dh goes back to work. and she can watch baby while i work some from home until i go back full time. dh's sister wants to come but i dont know the status on that yet. i dont know if she's coming to help or to be entertained :o
pink i'm really trying hard not to get myself worked up on the birth process. yes it scares me and yes i'm petrified of the whole process but i know the baby has to come out soemhow and well i dont have much choice right! i am more scared of the possibility of a c-section than anything else and so i'm doing my best to stay calm. i know a lot of it is mind over matter and thats what i am working on. but i'm not silly to were i believe it wont be painful. i think our childbirth class last week really helped me alot and so i am looking fwd to the next one t'row night.
amurphy dh got kicked in the face a few weeks ago and it was really funny! and last week baby kept trying to push dh's elbow away from my belly!

Pink- I think we all have our things that we are nervous about- For some reason I am not concerned about the delivery I figure the baby is coming out one way or another. I am more nervous/anxious about breastfeeding. I think you should definitely read a book that more fits your birthing style.
Also talk to your doctor. When I talked to mine he said that each dr is a little different and it really depends on how they were taught and their experience. He said that typically he avoids it unless he thinks the natural tear will cause more damage than a cut.
Snug clothes- I noticed that some of the shirts I bought early in pregnancy don't fit right anymore. My bbs had one growth spurt before I bought most of my clothes and then they had another one so many of the tops that are made to fit in the chest and then loose in the belly are now too tight in the chest and loose in the belly.
Company after birth- I have already told my mom and DH that visiting hours will be at my parent's house. She has a bigger place and I won't feel like giving everyone directions to ours (it also prevents people from dropping by). She's excited because it gives her more time with the baby and lets me to rest. She's also a much better cook than I am!
Weekend- We are offically done with our registry! DH was getting bored and started jokingly registering for fun things like Season one of HeMan and a remote control dinosaur.
I was also good and did about an hour of walking this weekend. I realized that I am getting winded easily so I need to step it up. I had to push myself by saying things to myself like "If you want to make it through hours of labor later you need to show that you can get up this hill."
So I need to throw a quick vent out there. My grandmother irritating the crap out of me!! My grandpa (they divorced 25+ yrs ago) is a snow bird and lives in AZ during the winter. We told her that he was coming back in town May 10th so what does she do plans her trip to Thailand March 9th- June 20th! She knew that I wanted both of them at the shower and she I know she did it just so that I had to pick one over the other (she planned my bridal shower for when she knew his wife would be out of town). I also warned her that the baby is due June 21st and may come early and her reaction was something like "We'll see if he or she really loves their great grandma then." Who the heck says something like that? She just has this mentality that the world revolves around her.

Lil –mrs – I have a grandma like that too. That only way I deal with it is to ignore some of the stuff she says and does.
OT – my father called me and told me that he will retired as of April 7th….WooHoo. My mom retired 2 years ago and she loves the free time. He says that now he will be able to spoil his grandkids. Now he will be able to spend more time up here once the baby is born.

Sorry to hear Lil_Mrs_0702...
I guess I hadn't realized that new babies could bring up similar drama as weddings! Our families have been pretty hands off so far, but we'll see. I know that DH's grandmother has already made requests to MIL, but she has kept them at bay for now.
Wooohooo!!! I'm so excited. My Dutailier glider just arrived! Isn't e-bay great or what?
http://i4.ebayimg.com/03/i/04/f4/04/01_2.JPG
I just put it together. We painted the nursery this weekend but we haven't put the room back together yet. I'll have to wait for DH to return home so he can help moving the furniture.
Clothes This is so far my biggest nightmare during this pregnancy. I dread getting dressed in the morning. I am never 100% happy with the clothes that I buy. My favorites are still non-maternity items but I don't have too many things that work (for example most shirts are too short but I have some that are long enough).
Company after birth I think I've already posted about this. I told my family that they can plan to come 1 or 2 weeks after baby arrives (they'll be flying in town to visit). DH insists that we be alone for a week or two.
My mom will come back about a month later to help me transition with going back to work. She'll stay for about 1 month.
pink I am 100% with you about birthing fears. I am putting off reading about it for now. I admit that it has become a little easier to see the births on Discovery than it was at first. I really hope I can avoid a c-section at all costs, and I hope that I can do away with the episiotomy. I would also prefer not to get the epidural, though I am staying open minded about it.
Since I'm already posting... Here's 26 week belly shot (~10 days ago)

Hello All :D
I think it's been over a week, I'm so far behind :/
The bathroom remodel is still coming along. We now have a tiled shower and a new toilet, with a new floor under it. Brian is going to finish putting the new floor in tonight. He's going to paint the ceiling tomorrow, wallpaper on Wed and then paint it on Friday (it has a texture to look like Venetian plaster). The tile will go down on Friday. He'll put the new vanity, etc in over the weekend and it's finished. Then it's on to the basement. Raul can't come up, my sis needs stuff done in her house. I'm going to ask our contractor what he would charge just to do the two rooms and we'd finish the rest. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.
Went to the dr last Tue and I was 172 pounds. That's how much I weighed the day I had Niko :eek: I still have 9 weeks to go which means more weight :eek:
weekend: You would have thought that Sat I had the energy of one hundred women. I took my GTT on Sat morning. Went shopping after. Came home, had lunch and then took Niko to a local flea market. We walked both inside and out. Came home did some cleaning and then went grocery shopping and to BJ's. I was amazed that I had that much energy. I slept like a baby Sat night.
name debate: shamocha hope you don't mind, but we've been tossing around Jaedon as a name. I saw it here and really like it and never mentioned it to Brian. Well I did the other day and he likes it too. Thing is, he still is vetoing me on every middle name. Just have to find first and middle names that go together now.
big purchase: We only have one, a double stroller. We'll probably wait to the end to get that, but it will be from eBay. I've found the one we want $100 cheaper brand new on there.
company after birth: My mom and sis will come up for a week. I thought FIL would come the week after, but he has to save his vacation, he's having his hip replaced in Sept. Then Niko's godmother will come up for however long she wants. After that the babies godmother will come up for however long she wants. After that, my door is open. I don't mind the company cause I know they'll help and when they get on my nerves, I can take a nap :D Plus we have the pool for them to enjoy and not have to worry about me to entertain them. Niko will love the attention too :D
Well Niko is awake. I'll be back later with my 28 wk belly shot.
Clothes-SO sick of maternity clothes. Nothing ever fits quite right. The only pair of pants I'm comfortable in are my velour track pants from Motherhood and they are too casual for work. I'm sick of pulling up my pants 800 times a day, sick of the adjustable tabs digging into my waist, sick of pulling down my shirt. No rush for the baby to come, just to stop wearing these clothes!!

Is anyone feeling like the maternity clothes you bought at the beginning of the pregnancy are getting a little snug?
Most of my pants are ok, but I wish I would have gotten all full panel. I only have 1 pair of full panel out of the three. I don't work so I don't have to worry about looking all that great everyday, but I'm tired of all my clothes too. They are almost all hand me downs and I kind of want to go buy some of my own stuff now because my shirts are getting too short. But something else always comes up so I end up not getting any clothes.
Company after-I don't think anyone will stay with us except our old roomate is coming and will probably stay for a while after the baby comes or a few days before. He was coming anyway (he moved out of town about 9 months ago and comes every now and then and stays to see us and old friends, etc.). It would be kind of nice if he was here for a few days after Dh goes back to work (after a week) to run to the store for me and stuff like that. I don't have to entertain him at all so it will be no problem. I don't know if I'd want anyone else to come stay and help me or not. I am one of those people that usually feels like they have to play hostess and I think it would just add pressure on me.
Being scared-I am going to be scared no matter what so I may just wait until the month before to freak out and just be blissfully unaware for now ;) . I haven't decided yet. I don't know what book to read if I am planning on a medicated birth, any suggestions? I am weird, I am so much more scared of an episiotomy than a c-section.
Oh, forgot to say I went on a long walk this morning---go me!

Clothes: dont get me on the soap box about the clothing issue- Ugggg I just went shopping on my lunchbreak - tried on 4 shirts & only 2 fit but I did not buy them cause I will outgrow them in less than a month. This is sooo frustrating - I guess I need to go to JCPenney or Motherhood. It is so hard finding clothes for a plus sized 6 month prego momma :(
Izzy: That glider is so cute - Yah for ebay! Also cute belly shot!

QOTD: Clothes
So far, so good. I have only had to 'retire' one new shirt I bought just after christmas, but I knew that one wouldn't last long (which is unfortunate b/c it is cute!). I had it in a size "small" and it's gathered a little under the chest. Unfortunately, it's cut for someone who has a much smaller chest than my C cups. So the gathering keeps riding up to middle of the chest.
Other than that, I'm totally in maternity shirts, but I have a good amount of room in most of them.
Pants... I had a pair of jeans with the small 4-inch panel that circles the waist. I had to retire those a month ago b/c they weren't so comfy anymore (they were always riding down and drove me crazy always having to pull them up). But I had to give them back anyway to the friend I borrowed them from, as she's 3 months behind me and needs them back (along with all the other stuff I borrowed months ago!) ASAP!
Right now, between my stuff and stuff I've borrowed from a SECOND friend, I have:
- 3 pairs of black dress pants
- 1 pair of khakis for spring
- 2 pairs of jeans (one of which -- a diff. pair than above -- I hate and won't wear anymore!)
- 1 pair of gap cargo pants perfect for around the house - I'm living in them!
- 1 pair of yoga type pants
- 1 pair of basic khaki capris for spring
- 2 straight cut skirts (long and short)
- 9 or 10 "cool weather" shirts (everything from warm wool cowel necks to long sleeve polos, etc)
- countless t-shirts and sleeveless polos (mostly thanks to friend #2!)
- 2 pairs of shorts (one of which, brand new from Old Navy I hate the cut on and will be selling them on eBay this spring)
For now, I have enough to get me through, esp. in the shirt department. MOST of the spring/summer shirts I have are very casual, but that's fine with me as my job ends in 3 weeks anyway. Most of the shirts I got from Friend #2 are size large and have lots of room in them for me.
Pants-wise, I'm unsure if I've got what I need to get through. I will stop wearing dress pants at the end of this month. At home I mostly wear the cargos and when I go out, I think the jeans should fit me throughout. Might need a new pair closer to the end, something with a full belly panel, but we'll see if that becomes the case.
My only pressing concern is what to do about a jacket. It's still winter here, and I've been making do with two coats: my big thick winter dress coat (complete with fur collar) still has enough room to be zipped up. However, I can only wear that if it's cooler than -5 celcius. But it's been a mild winter, so I've been wearing my zip up leather jacket a lot. However, this morning it became apparent that my days with that leather jacket are numbered (normally I'd wear my leather jacket into May). I can just barely suck in my gut long enough to (forcibly) zip up the jacket and then unzip the bottom zipper so that it frees my belly,leaving only about a 6 inch section at my chest actually zipped up. I can see this only working for the next couple of weeks at the most.
So now I'm going to have to buy some sort of spring jacket with a bit of a liner in it in a larger size than I normally am. Hmmm....

clothes- the only trouble I am having with clothes is finding cute spring clothes. I have 3 pairs of work pants that I rotate and although I am tired of pulling them up, I would rather do that then spend the money on new ones. I just can't find any short sleeve tops other than t-shirts. very frustrating.
next big purchase- no clue. we decided against the glider for now. . going with a rocking chair upstairs and a lazy-boy downstairs. I guess we still need all our big stuff. . car seat, stroller, etc. probably going to wait until after my showers to make any major purchases though.
company- we have my mom coming for a week, MIL for hopefully only a few days and then my sister coming in from Uruguay for as long as she can stay. other than that. . just tons of friends and neighbors coming by. I think it's going to be a hard few weeks in the beginning as my whole family is against nursing but I am determined to make it work. so. . if I get any funny looks. . I'm kicking them all out!
Izzy- nice belly shot!
my DH doesn't seem to have enough patience to get kicked in the head by the baby. he only sits there with his hand on my belly for 30 seconds before he gets bored. I know there is someone else on this thread with their DH in school. . are you having any trouble getting him to be interested? Mine is so distracted with papers and exams and work and everything else, I sometimes feel like I am doing this alone. last night, it took me 15 minutes to get all my pillows situated the right away, just as I am dozing off comfortably, he pulls the one out from under my back saying he needed it for his legs. so I had to go downstairs, get more pillows and start over. by that time, he's snoring and I end up downstairs anyway. I haven't cried myself to sleep in a very long time but I was SO frustrated. anyway- I know he's excited- I just want him to be a little more interested in me. is that selfish???
thanks for listening. . not sure if I added this already but I have my GTT on March 24th and then it's to every other week.

Hope everyone had a great weekend...ours was okay. Nothing too exciting going on (thankfully) but I feel like I got a lot accomplished.
Friday night DH and I stayed in and watched TV (there was a hockey game on.) I slept through most of it, but it was nice not to have to do ANYTHING.
Saturday we had brunch together (only the 2nd or 3rd time since getting married 18months ago!) and it was so nice. Then I had a ncie long bath, while DH and my dad finished putting the moulding up in the baby's room. I then went and wandered (literally) around Wal-mart for an hour. I didn't buy much for the baby, as I realized I had pretty much everything we need (that's so sad yet exciting to admit.) We watched the Hockey Game and a movie Saturday night.
Sunday I went shopping with my mom. Got myself a new pair of PJ's that will work once the baby is here. I also bought more clothes for our little one (DH was not so impressed) and that was about it. Came home and managed to get 7 loads of laundry done and got everything organized in the baby's room.
Baby's Room ~ Although we still don't have any furniture (it's getting so frustrating) I needed to get thing unpacked and sorted to figure out what we have. I finally got the closet emptied and unpacked ALL the bags. We have so much stuff, but at least now it's all organized.
I had DH come and smell the closet (which was tough since we are both sick) but it smells like Newborn Baby...my favourite smell.
Clothes ~ I received two shirts from Motherhood that I wore a handful of times and have shrunk like you wouldn't believe. I keep meaning to take them back, but haven't made it there yet.
Luckily my mom has made me a whole whack of clothes (five tops and three pants) and that should get me through the next couple of weeks. I have 9 weeks of work left, as of tomorrow, and I think I should be fine...especially since my mom was generous with my measurements and took growth into consideration.
Visitors After Baby ~ Luckily all our family lives within a relatively short distance. My mom and MIL are fighting about which one is going to stay over once we have the baby. But I'm hoping that DH and I are organized and prepared enough to be able to handle it alone and not need anyone at night (we will see, but that's my wish.) My sister is planning to come down for two (2) weeks...but I don't know what she is going to do. she will stay with my parents too, so no house guest here. Other than that, no one needs to stay over as they are all so close. We will have a full house for a long time though, as everyone will be over during the day.
My mom has also planned a 'Family Reunion' for the July 1st long weekend. Our baby will be a month at the most, so we will be able to introduce him to the extended family, but I'm already uneasy about having to share him with others.
Being Scared ~ To be honest, I'm not concerned with the labour and delivery part of pregnancy. I know the baby is going to come out one way or another and I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to get him out. I 'think' I would prefer to do it while under the influence of drugs, but we will take it as it comes. Who knows, I may be okay to labour without drugs...only doing it will give me the answers.
I'm also okay with the BF part too. I know my BB's are working well now, I'm producing more colostrum as the days go on, so only time will tell if we can BF. I've already stocked up on my herbs to help production, I've e-mailed my local LLL to go to a meeting and we will be meeting a LC in our prenatal classes in a couple of weeks. I'm doing everything I can to ensure I can feed our baby from my own body. That's the best I can do.
So, in that case, I'm fairly calm and prepared for anything (well, I say that now, but that's how I'm currently feeling.) I don't have any expectations of how it will go, I will just go with the flow and see what happens.
Okay, enough of my novel. If you've read this far, THANKS, now I really must get back to work...only 9 more weeks!

Connorsmommy – I’ve been wondering the same thing about jackets and coats. My winter coat is starting to get snug. It has been a little warmer than usual so I’ve been able to wear a jacket that last few days. It has an adjustable waist and I haven’t let it all out yet. Assuming that it a month we have consistent warm days, should be okay. If in a month we have below freezing temperatures then I will be in trouble.
Pink – I wish I had a book to recommend. Does the What To Expect book go into birthing? I don’t have it so I don’t know.
Izzy – great glider and nice belly shot
NIkosmommy – glad the bathroom remodel is going well.
Shoulda – every other week appts means we are getting close. The doc told me at my first appt that I would switch to every other week at the 26-28 week mark. My next appt is at 26 and glucose testing at 28, so I’ll be curious to find out if my next appt is at 28 or 30 weeks. It is hard to believe that I hit the 3rd trimester next week.

shoulda-My Dh gets bored too and isn't as interested in everything as I am. It makes me upset too. He told his Dad yesterday I am BABY CRAZY and that kind of irritated me. Of course I am! And that's exactly what his Dad said too so hmpf! My family is against breastfeeding too, what is that about?! They think it's soooo gross and inconvenient. I'm sure I will get plenty of comments the whole time and I told you so's if I am not able to to do it, it makes me even more determined to do it.
I had DH come and smell the closet (which was tough since we are both sick) but it smells like Newborn Baby...my favourite smell.
Our baby's room smells like this too! Makes me so happy. It's from all the diapers.

Mrs brownie – My DH wouldn’t be impressed with more clothes either. I told him that I ordered soft soled shoes and he threatened to call my daddy. I told my father that I wouldn’t buy any more cloth diapers (I have more than enough), I never said anything about other baby stuff.

Pink:
Some of my family reacted a similar way to me BFing Connor at first. Well, kind of, but not really.
My sister thought it was gross (but she was 22 - a single party girl who didn't really have any basis for being grossed out - she just had never been exposed to that sort of thing). Then, I educated her a little about why it's a good thing and why she shouldn't be grossed out. That seemed to hit home with her.
My mom, who FF'd all her kids back when that was the thing to do, didn't really have an opinion one way or another. At least none that she actually vocalized to me.
My dad... Wierdly... was quite, um, interested in how it all worked as he'd never seen anyone in his whole 71 years doing that sort of thing in front of other people before. LOL... He was just fascinated that my baby could get all his nutrition straight from the tap. And he wasn't all dismissive about it at all.
My brother, OTOH, was the one with the most vocal & negative reaction. He is 1.5 years older than me and his DW had a baby boy about 3 months after me. In fact, the first time they saw Connor was when THEIR boy was 10 days old. I guess his DW nursed their newborn all of 3 times in the hospital and then switched to formula b/c her milk "didn't come in" and R was 10 lbs and hungry. I think she gave up too fast, but it's not surprising given that she was 34 and had a 10 year old daughter who was exclusively FF'd back then. Kind of set in her ways about what she "already" knew. Anyway, my brother was soooo disgusted by my nursing in front of everyone (hey, I *did* leave the room to latch and then always had a little blanked covering Connor & the supposed exposed breast). He was like "Jesus Christ, Karen, do you HAVE to do that in here? That's disgusting...we're trying to eat in here!" (Uh, so is my son... And YOUR son is eating, too, but from a bottle).
Anyway, I just spewed off a few facts about BFing (careful *not* to degrade FFing, as *I* was just beginning to supplement with one bottle of formula in the middle of the night the week earlier) and that pretty much shut him up for the rest of that visit. Though, I could see that he was still quite disgusted by the whole idea of nursing anytime I was feeding Connor in the same room that he was in.

DS ~ My mom was the one encouraging me to buy the clothes yesterday...I got home and reluctantly told DH (he's getting good about asking SPECIFIC questions) that I bought a couple more things. He told me they HAD to go back...but then I put them in the closet with all the other stuff and he didn't say anything (other than don't remove the tags on everything until we learn if it really is a boy.)
Baby Smell ~ I just started opening the packs of diapers (put the Size 1's in the Diaper Stacker and the Newborns in a basket) so hopefully it will smell up the whole room...but for now it's just the closet.
Diaper Bag ~ Okay, gotta confess that I've already started packing up my diaper bag. I added 10 Newborn and 10 Size 1 diapers to my bag, the wipes, Vaseline, the Nipple Shields (for B/F) and that's it so far. I figured it couldn't hurt to get it started...somebody stop me as I'm out of control!
QOTD: Skeptical on the Sex of Baby ~ Of those that found out the sex of their baby, is anyone getting skeptical on the accuracy of the U/S? Dh has been a little funny lately, he's now saying that he's not going to believe we are having a boy until he sees an actual Penis himself...I'm just not sure what to make of it now.
Just wondered if anyone was starting to question or have doubts?

Family support while breastfeeding- Luckily my uncle's wife was the one that pioneered this so my family is a lot more comfortable with the idea than they would have been 10 years ago.
DH's Interest- It's give or take. He acts like he's not interested and like preparing is a chore but then when it comes time to doing stuff he has a lot of fun with it but loses interest quick. This weekend was cute b/c he kept wanting to buy the stuff instead of registering for it. I had to keep reminding him that the shower is in 2 weeks and we already have a ton of stuff. I made a deal with him on a couple of things that if we don't get it at the work shower we will come back and buy it other but I need to make sure there is still stuff on the list for the family registry too.
He was also getting antsy and excited when I showed him some of the stuff that mom has on layaway. He told me how he can't wait for the baby.
Skeptical of the sex- We saw the third leg for myself so I have no doubt that the u/s was accurate.

Skeptical of the sex:
Not us.... Dawson was doing his best to show off his goods. More than once during the u/s, too. First, we had a tech-in-training who showed us and made the call that it was a boy (painfully obvious observation though). Then, a while later, her senior u/s tech came in, made sure that all the measurements were done properly and then did her own quick assessment of the major stuff. In doing so, Dawson flashed his goods for her as well. She said "that's a boy if I ever saw one!"
...but when we had our u/s with Connor, we were a little more skeptical, b/c he was more reserved and took a while to open his legs. Then, the u/s tech said it was a boy and pointed out his boy parts...but I just couldn't make heads or tails of what I was seeing b/c she didn't explain what view point we were looking from. I just couldn't see it for myself...

See, we saw all the boy bits as well...twice!
But for some reason, DH has somehow convinced himself (and now I'm wondering too) that perhaps it isn't a boy and a girl might show up.
But we saw EVERYTHING (a perfectly formed penis and the scrotum too) and then saw it again at a second U/S...but he just thinks it's a possibility.
I just wondered if anyone else was questioning it as well...

Skeptical of sex-I had an amnio so I know 100% what the sex is. Had I not had that I would probably be second guessing the sex cuz I'm neurotic like that ;) .
I do have dreams they accidentally send me home with a girl sometimes.

Skeptical of the sex: I am every now and then, but DH always brings me back. I saw the money shot and got a very good glimpse - legs were spread wide open and there was definitely 3 lines and no penis.

Skepticism: Nope! Lucas was showing all the goods and we have the pictures to show it! There's no way he could be a girl, in a million years! :p

QOTD skeptical DH is still skeptical. He keeps insisting we don't do anything permanent just in case. The u/s tech said for sure it was a girl.
When MIL had her last child, they had told her it would be a girl with 80% certainty (whatever that means!). She was disappointed when she had her third boy.
I am charging ahead 100% confident it will be a girl. :)
jbenny75

skeptical? Not at all. He was waving it all over the place!!
DH interest He talks about the baby and is interested in his room, but doesn't touch my stomach or talk to the baby or anything. He seems to like it if the baby's kicking and I have him feel it. I guess he's middle of the road. I think he's more interested than he lets on because he's not a big talker or big on showing much emotion.
company after baby No way. I'm nervous enough about learning everything, establishing a routine, and all of the changes we'll be going through. I don't feel like having the stress of someone staying here with us. I want to gain confidence with taking care of the baby before we have anyone coming to visit. Day trips are okay with me, though.
clothing My jeans are getting a bit tight. My tops still fit. Luckily, warmer weather will be here soon, so I'll be switching into those clothes, which I bought a bit bigger to last me for awhile.

Hi Laides,
Our DSL went out on Thursday. My DH has us hooked up to dial up for now until we get our DSL back on Friday. I really need to go back and catch up with you guys. But I had a couple of questions.
Baby shower When are we exchanging names and buying stuff?
Weight gain? I know we have talked about this before, but I am getting concerned. I have a Dr.s appt. tomorrow and am afraid to find out how much I have gained. But I am curious. What are reasons for gaining so much weight so fast? I am not eating all that bad. I really don't think it is the things I am eating.
Lil_Mrs_0702

Weight Gain- I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think as long as you are staying in good health it shouldn't be too much of a concern. I know I say that now and freak out when I see the actual gain, but I always come back to the realization that I am healthy, walking, exercising, and eating right. There is always more I can do but it could be a lot worse.

Baby Shower ~ The deadline to join is Wednesday the 15th. After that names will be drawn and we'll get information out to your baby shower buddy. We'll set a timeline for sending gifts - we have a couple international girls that we'd like to get gifts out to by June and since shipping takes a little longer we'll have to ship them soon.

LilMrs0702Thank you for making me feel better about the weight gain. Cute belly shot!
Kadensmommy Thank you for letting me know about the shower!
Sex of baby? I am pretty confident that our u/s tech was right in telling us we are having a girl. The pics were pretty clear too.
Visitors Ugh, I don't even want to think about this. With my son I was lucky in the hospital, as most of my inlaws were on a cruise! My mil and fil were the ones that bugged me the most and would stay the longest when we were at home. I am not sure what I am going to do this time around. I really don't want too many visitors in the hospital, I would rather have them when I get home. I don't know what to do.
DH and the baby He is all about the baby, he loves to feel her moving and puts his hand on my belly all the time. He talks to her and gives her kisses. It is all very sweet.
Clothes Just last week I went through four pairs of pants before finding some that fit! I have outgrown them all of a sudden. My sil let me borrow a couple of pairs and I went to Old Navy today and bought a pair of full panel. They are comfy!

I broke 100 days...only 99 to go.
hospital visitors - I'm expecting my mom to be the only one. By the time other people find out about it, I hope to be home. If it were left up to me, no one would know for a few days about the baby. I'm bad with phone calls. DH on the other hand will call his entire phone book.
virtual shower - I'm looking forward to it.
DH and baby - he is great. he talks to the baby and kisses my belly. He also loves to rub it. He had the baby bug before I did so I was expecting his reaction.

I'm less than 100 days also - I can not believe it. I wrote my countdown on my calendar at work so I can look at it all the time :)

Great belly shot Lil-Mrs.
Shoulda – my childbirth instructor says that pelvic tilts will help..I also read online that it is helpful (get on all fours, tilt pelvic bone under you and then relax, I sometimes do a cat stretch), I also sit in Indian style or with my feet together and lean forward. I love that stretch. One other one that I would have never tried had it not been a required exercise for my class is the squat. This has got to be my favorite new exercise. When I sit for a long time or am sleep in bed for a long time, my hips and lower back ache once I get up. If I squat for a good minute, everything seems to go back into place and you get the added benefit of stretching the perineum which can minimize chance of tearing (spread feet at least hip width apart and squat, be sure your heels stay on the ground, if not separate your feet more). I recommend staying down for at least 60 seconds and remember to get up slowly (put your hands on the floor to help you get up). I hope I don’t sound like an exercise enthusiast because I’m not. These exercises (esp the squat) really work for me.
Gender confidence – after my 18week u/s I was not convinced, but at my 22 week u/s his good were in plain sight so now I have no doubt. I’ve already picked up a few boy (blue) outfits. If he ends up being a girl than she will be wearing blue…it is one of my favorite colors to wear so I have no problem putting my girl in blue as long as she clearly looks like a girl or I can add some pink accents so there is no question.

LilMrs0702: Great belly shot! Your belly is so round!
Sex of baby? Well, my baby is in the "surprise" category but DH and I both dreamt last week that we were having a girl. We shall see...
Visitors:" We have a big group of friends in the area so I imagine that at least a few of them would like to stop by the hospital. I'll have to wait and see how I feel after the baby arrives before deciding I'm okay with that. If not, they can wait until we are home. My ILs live close by so they'll likely to visit as soon as we give them the okay. My family is all far away and I'm not sure when they'll come up to see the baby. Whenever they decide will be okay with me because they are all so thoughtful and loving. It would be nice to have them around.
DH and the baby: DH is excited about the baby. He is always rubbing, kissing, and talking to my belly. He has been absolutely a perfect father-to-be and husband.
Opps. I have a meeting to run to! I'll be back later!

visiting in hospital:
I forgot to respond to this one yesterday. Our health region has actually instituted a very strict policy as of late 2005 with regards to visitors to maternity patients:
Here is their policy:
Visitors are restricted during your hospital stay. This will give you more privacy and time alone with your partner and baby so you can get to know each other as a family. You will also have more time to rest.
Partners / support persons (maximum of 2) must be identified in Labour and Delivery and given a green identification band may visit at any time. Grandparents and siblings of the newborn may visit for brief periods from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please ensure that there has been no contact with Varicella Zoster (Chicken pox). Other visitors are not permitted during this hospital stay. No overnight stay is permitted.
However, the only grandparent in town is MIL and my only concern now is to make sure she isn't in the delivery room this time. Last time, she stayed through the delivery (against my wishes) with a front row seat. So she better not be thinking that she *will* be in the delivery room again just because she was there the first time. This time, DH has been threatened with divorce if he doesn't ensure that she stays out. ;)

Good Morning Ladies!
DH and I just got back from our little Babymoon and had a great time. Although, I DID have a minor meltdown as we left the hotel, I guess I was a bit sad that our lives will change here shortly. But, it's all for the better!
Sex of baby - We're both pretty convinced it's a boy. We've had a few ultrasounds, and each different tech confirms the sex. Plus in our last u/s it was very clearly a male.
Visitors - This one actually stresses me out. We just moved out here, so we have NO family (or any real friends yet for that matter) around. My mom scheduled a flight for 4 days after our due date, and now I'm back peddling. I'm worried that it might feel too soon - and if the baby is late, then she'll be here when I deliver, which I really don't want. Whoever said that they wanted a few weeks to get familiar and comfortable taking care of their newborn echoed my feelings exactly. So, for the time being, I've given my mom a heads-up that if I haven't delivered a few days before my due date, that she should push the flight back a few days to a week. Then DH's parents are coming just a few days after my mom leaves. It will be insane, for sure. But hopefully at least I can have some time to myself to shower and nap!
DH and the baby - He's been really cute about this. Every couple of days he'll say "is he kicking now?" so he can get his fix. And he'll often kiss my belly before he leaves for work in the morning. I was shocked - DH was the one that wanted to get cracking on the nursery, painting, updating our registry, and picking out furniture. Hopefully this excitment and helpful attitude will continue when the baby is born!
Clothes - Don't even get me started. I had to retire my favorite pair of jeans last weekend after I washed them. They were the last remaining non-maternity things I fit in to. I'm still able to fit in to the maternity clothes that I bought right after Christmas, but I really can't wait until the weather warms up so I can stick to skirts. My problem still isn't in the waist, but my ever expanding butt and thighs. Which ties nicely in to...
Weight gain - After a visit from my brother, AND a 5-day vacation, my weight has skyrocketed. I'm talking about 4 pounds in a week, 10 days? I'm hoping now that I'm back home and eating like normal and working out that things will even out again. But I too am terrified of the scale at my next visit.

Connorsmommy – wow that is very strict visitors policy. Where I am delivering you can have whoever you want in the room during delivery. There is an unwritten suggestion of up to 5 given the space. You can have more is space allows. Also, grandparents and siblings are allowed 24 hours. They just can’t “room-in”. Only the dad (or partner) can do that. Other than that, regular visiting hours are 11a -8pm ( I think) and none siblings have to be at least 12years old to visit.
Gina – where did you go for your babymoon? DH and I are talking about one for just a weekend to someplace within a 3 hour driving distance.
Visitor – my mom and I somewhat confirmed her visiting plans. She is planning a get a one-way ticket for June 15 and will stay 1-2 weeks after baby. I’m thinking maybe just one week. Then DH and I can have the second week alone. I hoping that he will be home a few days with me and my mom and then a few days with just me after my mom goes home. The first week with baby that my mom is there, I want her to help with house stuff (cook, do laundry, etc) while I try to adjust to a new baby. My dad most likely won’t come up until after the baby is here. I expect that my mom will go back when he goes back.

Hi! I've been so lax about posting lately! I've been in Denver for work alot, until last week! I've been trying to read along though.
We just got back from a week in San Diego and LA. We met up with lots of old friends (we lived in LA until 2001) and had a great time! We went to California Adventure, Disneyland, Sea World, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Mission Bay beach, and DH went rock climbing and mountain biking with friends.
Rachel's newest favorite phrase--shouted out randomly in a sing song voice of course--is "STAY AWAY FROM THAT NUDIE BAR"!!. My fault. I jokingly said that to DH as he left our hotel in Mission Bay to go get dinner and bring it back. The neighborhood we were in was upscale and clean but inexplicably had several "ALL NUDE" places next to the local Starbucks and Krispy Kreme. Interesting zoning. Of course, Rachel has now said this 100+ times despite our best efforts to ignore, distract, redirect etc. She even said it in her SLEEP one night!!!! I almost choked one time because I could not stop laughing.
Rachel LOVED Disneyland. She got hugs from all the Princesses, Goofy, Max (goofy's son), Minnie, Stitch, Chip, Raffiti and more. She was SO thrilled to meet Cinderella. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and had breakfast at Goofy's kitchen. Rachel was not scared of any of the characters and LOVED all the rides (with the exception of Mr Toad's). She has been talking nonstop about everything since our return. She was also really, really impressed with the Ginger ale on the airplane.
Wyatt loved Its a Small World and the Dumbo ride. He just kind of took everything in stride. The highlight of the trip for him was chasing birds on the beach!
The Wild Animal Park and Sea World were great too. The weather sucked on Friday when we were at the WAP so we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked but we did get to see lions copulating ! The Shamu show at Sea World was a thrill for everyone. And Rachel loved holding a starfish and feeding sea lions and dolphins. All in all it was a great trip. But we have decided that we are pretty much going to get a condo or two room suite from now on. Having all of us in one hotel room was a challenge at times. Although when we got home, Rachel told us the house is too big and she wants to live in a hotel room!!!!
Oh, another highlight. We curb checked our bags on our way home but decided to keep the rental car a bit longer since the kids were sleeping. So we tooled around San Diego harbor for a bit. Just as we were heading back, Wyatt PUKED rancid curdled milk all over his clothes and carseat. SO smelly. And we had just checked our bags. Well, he ended up wearing a lime green "San Diego" shortall outfit on the plane. Some lady asked me "how old is SHE". (this is a first!) Clearly, he was looking quite manly !
VIRTUAL SHOWER Yes please, I'd like to participate! I almost missed it!
purchases I just bought a really great tandem stroller. It is the Phil and Ted's E3. It can convert from infant to toddler to infant/toddler to toddler/toddler. Here's a picture

Sex of the baby The sonographer said he'd eat his hat if he was wrong. And the perinatologist (who used to be the head of OB/GYN at Yale) swore it is a girl as well. So no worrying here.
I will try to be better about keeping up with everyone.

my appt went ok .... I have gained 13 lbs total occording to my doctors scales so not too terribly bad I guess. My BP was 124/84 which he said was higher than normal but not as high as last time. He said I am measuring big but according to my due date/ultrasound the dates matched - he said not to worry - just hope I pass my 1 hour glucose test on March 28th / if I dont then I will have to take the 3 hour test if I still do not pass then "I will have to go on a major strict diet & he said I will probably end up having a big baby" :( Andrews doctor kept telling me he was going to be big also but he wasn't ... he was 7 lbs 3 oz.

Thanks for the comments on the belly shots!
Back pain- I agree with DS2003. Those exercises definitely help. Also have DH massage your saddlebacks (right above and back a little from your hips) while you lay on your side. I love that massage!
Visitors in the hospital. My hospital has a very lenient policy on guests as well. You can have as many people as you want during the birth but luckily my parents have already agreed that only DH should be in the room during the birthing.
I don't know how I'll do it w/o offending anyone but I really want as little as possible guests at the hospital. I just don't want to see everyone while I am trying to adapt to being a new mom. There is enough stress in that 24 hour period, I don't want to worry about how I look and I don't want to play pass my baby.
Lawyerwifemom- It sounds like your trip was a ton of fun. Funny how your son timed getting sick. Gotta love kid's timing!
~~~~~~~~~~
Well last night was fun... I found a girl on Craigslist that sold me 25 outfits for $25 total and they are all really cute. It was great variety and most of it was name brand. She even threw in a couple of things for free!! And DH is being the sweetest....
I came home and he had a pack of Double Stuff Oreos (my pg craving), a single red rose and a home made card!! I took a pic of the card and rose...
The inside says: "I'd just thought I would let you know that you are the mostest, beautifullest, wonderfullest, best, gorgeous wife a bum like me could ever dream of!" Then on the other side it says "I Love You This Much" and has an arrow pointed to his drawing of the infinity sign and then a heart in a cube (we say I Love You Infinity Cubed Squared or just cubed squared when we're in public). I thought it was really sweet... and I was so good, I didn't cry!!!
Well, I made it to 29 Weeks still can't believe it. I feel like I've been PG forever, but then I think about it and the baby will be here 11 weeks from today (assuming I go on my due date, which I know won't happen.) But at the most, I will only be PG for 13 more weeks. It's crazy at how long it feels like I've been PG, but how quickly the birth of our little one is coming.
I have my M/W appointment tonight and then we have our 2nd Prenatal class tonight. I will get the results of my GTT tonight and hopefully figure out what direction our baby is currently residing. I feel like he's been tweaking my bladder like a banjo, but can't tell if he's head down or feet down (I'm betting feet, but again have no clue.)
Of course DH is sick (well, I am too) and has turned into a BIG BABY! It's amazing how I've been sick for almost 2 months now and get very little sympathy, but he's been sick for 2 days and is upset because I'm not doing more for him. Plus, he feels the need to wake me up from my sleep (which is precious) to inform me that he can't sleep. Why bother...especially since I'm getting up every 2 hours to pee anyways. UGHHHHH....I can't wait for him to get better.
DH and the Baby ~ My DH is not an overly emotional or touchy/feely kind of person. He has not spoken to my belly, kissed it or anything like that. He is very hesitant about touching it too (and often gets mad at me for pushing on it...while trying to locate the baby) Although last night in bed I remarked that he was kicking me HARD and DH, very hesitantly, reached out his hand to feel. Of course as soon as he did, the baby was quiet.
He had enough patience to feel the baby kick twice and other than that, doesn't really have enough patience to rest his hand for any longer than 30 seconds. Although he will come up and start rubbing my tummy (or do it when I put his hand there) and comment on how big I'm getting.
He's very excited though and has VERY definite ideas about how our child will and should be raised. I know that as soon as he meets his son, he will turn into a big pile of mush, complete with tears and all. That big, tough, macho facade will come crumbling down...and I can't wait.
Visitors in Hospital ~ Suprisingly, our hospital has pretty liberal visiting policies. I think visiting hours are from 11 - 8 pm and only two people are 'supposed' to be visiting...but I don't think they are that strict with it.
I'm sure that both sets of parents will come to the hospital when the know we are on our way and won't leave until after the delivery. I know that my mom and my sister both expect to be in the room during delivery, but DH and I have decided that for the delivery we want it to be just us and the M/W's. I don't want everyone involved in our very private and personal moment. I don't mind everyone coming and going during the labour part, but as soon as it comes time to push OUT, OUT, OUT Everyone.
So we will have alot of visitors at the hospital, I have no doubt about that. I'm also hoping that I won't have to stay more than 24 hours and depending on how delivery goes, I may even check myself out sooner. The M/W's told us that for a normal delivery, complication free, we could leave as soon as 6 hours after birth.
Okay...back to work for me. Only 9 more weeks and then I'm off for 13 months...I can hardly wait.
LilMiss-That is so sweet it almost made me cry.
Increased intensity w/ movement?-Anyone else's baby kicking and punching harder lately? I don't think he's doing it more often throughout the day just harder and more vigorously and for longer when he does do it. Last night he was moving and kicking and punching or something in more than one place at the same time for like 2 minutes and of course no one saw it but me. It was so weird and cool! I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow.
Went by the OB's office today to find out how much more I owe on my delivery/deductible/circumsion and all that and it was way less than I expected so I was a HAPPY camper! I should be able to pay if off at the end of the month and buy some fun stuff for the baby too. Woo-hoo!
Wall letters-Are any of you doing the wooden/painted wall letters for your nursery? If you have a boy are you going to still hang them from ribbon or from picture hangers or something? Where are you getting yours? I went to Michael's today and the had them from $.99-2.99 each. The ones for $2.99 seemed nicer and they were larger but I did not like the font. The $.99 onces were too small. I know there are threads on this, just wondered what my homies were personally doing :).
wall letters: I am planning on having the letters on the wall. We are going to use the ribbon & they letter will be painted white, pink or lilac color. I have seen the letters at walmart & babies r us. My friend hung some in her sons room with the blue ribbon & it looked good (not too girlie or anything)
wall letters are available on Ebay as well. I am not sure of the price, but I remember seeing some really cute ones! I also saw some pretty large ones at Baby Depot/Burlington Coat Factory.
Lil_Mrs_0702 Your hubby is so sweet! I had a meltdown this weekend and reminded DH that he needed to give me more attention. He has been very good since then. He even started talking to my belly more. :) So cute.
Pink I started working on my letters. I didn't want to spend too much money so I bought the $0.99 while they were at half off at Jo-Ann's. My fault for picking such a long name (can you imagine 9 letters at $10 a pop?)!
I used a primer first. Afterwards I mixed different paint colors and went crazy trying to get each letter to be unique.
I haven't figured out how to hang them yet. So they are just sitting on the closet for now. This is one inspiration picture that we like. But it means so many holes in my perfect newly painted wall! :eek:
Visitors The ladies teaching our first baby class said that you can include visitors options in your birthing plan. She said nurses will be very good about escorting people out during the delivery if you don't want them there (they might even come up with some medical reason ;) ).
I love all the Ebay letter but the painted ones are all so expensive unless your child has like a 3 letter name ;).
I have seen some large unpainted ones on there for not too much with better fonts. I may go with that.
Lil_mrs – what a sweet DH.
Lawyerwifemom – welcome back
Wall letters – I got mine from Joann as well, but they are different from Izzy’s. They are not as curvy. I’m thinking of mounting them to a board and hanging that. His name only have 4 letters, so I will probably add some other stuff, maybe even his middle name underneath if I can find some small letters in a similar font. I need to head back to Joann. I had bought some MDF for DH to cut out the letters, but when I saw the ones at Joann on sale, I got those.
I really want to do wall letters, but we haven't 100% decided on a name (have a front runner that I think we will use, but don't want to decide until he's born.)
So, I think I'm just going to have to wait and see...but there are some cute designs out there.
Besides, DH would kill me if I were to buy anything more...which I say as I'm watching stuff on Ebay.
Posting then will go back and catch up.
This is from my LJ:
Well, I have gained 12lbs since my last appt., yes you read that right. My Dr. seemed more concerned this time, but really only said to eat more protein rich foods so they stay with you longer. I told her I am hungry all the time and she said that I just have to not give into that. That really pissed me off. I told her I get light headed and dizzy. She didn't have anything to say. That was about it for my appt., everything else was fine. I started out this pg at 124 I am now 152.:( I definetly did not gain weight like this with Wesley!
I really don't want to keep gaining like this, I don't want to risk having a big baby, I don't want gestational diabetes. I am going on Thursday for that test. I just don't get why I am so hungry all the time.
DS I totally agree with you about phone calls. If it were up to me, I would wait til we were home to call people! Oh and thank you for the information on squats, I am going to try that in the mornings.
Sunshine I wouldn't worry about your weight too much, it could be worse....it could be 12 like me! lol!
Connorsmommy Wow, I can't believe your mil was in the delivery room the whole time against your wishes!
Gina I missed where you said where you went on your babymoon. I am glad you had a good time. I am right their with you on the weight issues.
Lawyerwifemom Hey you were in my neck of the woods. It sounds like you guys had a great time! Didn't you get worn out at all? Just reading all that wore me out! lol!
LilMrs I am with you on the visitors. I don't know how to say anything without sounding rude. I really don't want to play pass the baby either! That was so nice of your DH!
Izzy Your letters came out really cute. Where did you find that second pic?
Visitors after birth-Well, apart from all the usual people from church who'll want to visit and bring food etc it'll just be DH and I for the first 1-2 weeks. He's planning on taking 1 full week off work once the bub arrives and then work another week of half days so he's home more to help out with food and housework. Then once he goes back to work fulltime my mum will come for 2 weeks to help out with housework and food and stuff. I'm sure she'll be a great help as well since she's had 7 babies and knows how much an extra pair of hands is to keeping the new mum sane. :)
Clothes-I'm only JUST now growing out of my normal clothes...t-shirts seem to be the thing I'm needing to replace quicker than any other because of the larger boob factor and top of the belly stretching the top up higher. It's so hard being in between seasons...do I buy short or long sleeves??
Weight gain- I think I've put on 11lbs in the past 5 weeks! This is the first weight gain since getting pregnant so quite substantial! I hope I don't stack on a ton more weight between now and the end....well not at that rate of gain anyway! Lol...
Sorry to everyone getting backpain. It sucks. I find that standing upright and not utilising back rests or slouching really really stuff my back around. Thanks for the tip on squatting ds2003. I've been squatting a bit but I'll do it more often and for longer periods when I have a sore back/side.
excitedbride I was 124 at my 8 week appt., and was 152 at my most recent one, same as you! Sometimes I worry, b/c my dr. is always on my case about it, but last appt., I saw the other dr. in the practice and she didn't seem to think it was an out of control gain.:confused: I don't know what to think anymore.
Izzy Thank you for that link. Something new to be obessed about now!:)
Jbenny Really? How funny that we started at the same weight and are the same weight now. I am due the 18th so we are only a day apart too! See, it really irritates me that some Dr.s care so much and some don't. My sil gained alot of weight through her pg and her Dr. didn't make a big deal of it. It was just like, you gain what you need to gain. She did have a big baby though, 9lbs 2oz. BUT, she was also past her due date.
Hello All :D
I tried to post earlier but couldn't get on :/
wall letters: I got Nikolas' at Michael's, I think they were $.99 each and they seem pretty large. I originally painted them royal blue but after we moved into the house I got some multicolored checkered curtains for his room so I started to change the colors of some of them. Well I've primed them but since Sept that's all that's been done :/ I know, I'm lazy :/ I will finish them soon though.
The Good: Went for an u/s today and the baby is doing great. Right on target and growing like a weed. Couldn't have asked for better results.
The Middle: The baby is breech. His head is so far up that they got u/s gel on my bra trying to get a pix of his brain. Niko went breech about 37 weeks and I followed an old wives tale and he turned. So I'm going to try that again and hopefully this one will cooperate too.
The Bad: My dr's office called and I failed the 1 hour GTT :( I'm going for the 3 hour on Thur morning. The nurse said I MUST do it before next Mon. I'm not sure why she was so rushed :confused: How do they expect a pg woman to fast for 12 hours before the test, then drink that stuff again and not eat right away? Can we say light headed and pass out?
All I know is that I'm going to stuff myself tomorrow night at dinner.
Nikos, Did your dr tell you how much you failed by? Are you on a 3 day carb diet prior to the test? Not sure why they are rushing you but at least you'll get it over with! That stuff is so nasty!! Can we say light headed and pass out?
Pretty much! I got a really yucky tummy and was super light-headed. Hopefully it will fly by for you! Good luck!
excited LOL! I wrote a lot since I've been gone so long!! I did fine during the day but I was ready to go to bed soon after the kids. It worked out fine since we were basically confined to the hotel room after their 8pm bedtime. I finished a whole book in 4 days though!
weight gain I've gained 13 lbs so far. I hope to stay in the 25-30 range but I usually seem to gain a bit more in about the 34-38 week time frame. So we'll see.
connorsmommy I can't believe your MIL! You must be a saint to not have freaked and kicked her out!
well it happened so fast and I was rather preocccupied at the time -- we'd asked MIL to go to our house, pack my hospital bag (we gave her a list and locations of where to find stuff, like my undies...hehe) and come to the hospital to drop it off. Then she kind of hung out in my delivery room for a while. I didnt' mind the company TOO much... but then I think she went for coffee and came back a bit later just as I was in my own little world, very close to being ready to push. I don't really remember her returning to the delivery room at that point. I just remember looking up in the middle of pushing and seeing her there HOLDING THE FREAKING SPOTLIGHT :eek: for my Dr. who was getting ready to catch Connor. I started digging my nails into Dh's arm in hopes that he'd telepathically get the message that I wanted her out of here. I would have said something but honestly I couldn't talk. I could only grunt at that point. And unfortunately, he didn't get the message. LOL...
connorsmommyOMG, I guess that was a shocker!!
excitedbride I've been trying not to worry about the weight too much. I'm trying really hard to eat right and get some exercise, and it doesn't seem to help, so what else can I do? The big baby thing really scares me though!! The thought of pushing out a 9-pounder, like your SIL, really scares me.
shouldaeloped
03-15-2006, 05:32 AM
thank you ds for the exercises! I tried all of them last night and will try again this morning. I did sleep with a pillow between my legs and although it didn't stay there all night, it seemed to have helped.
weight- I was up 18 pounds at my 24 week vist and I know it will be higher next week. I go back and forth between being really worried about it and knowing that we are hiring a trainer for me after the baby gets here and we settle in to get the extra weight off. my doctor was pleased with my weight gain last time. . we'll see if it holds.
names- anyone still struggling? we debate new ones every night. very frustrating as I really want to settle on one so I can do fun things like order wall letters!!!!
GTT- can anyone tell me more about this 3 day carb loading that seems to help you pass? I take mine next Friday and really don't want to fail as the 3 hour doesn't sound like any fun.
it seems as though time is running out so quickly. I know we have 2 - 3 months left but it feels like every weekend is completely booked and with DH graduating from law school in May, we are just so pressed for time. I don't even know what else needs to be done. Is there a master list anywhere of things that should be in place before the baby gets here? and what about pediatricians? has anyone thought of peds yet? have you interviewed anyone? at my last appointment my nurse said that they would ask for my pediatrician at my next appointment. we haven't even had time to think about it. I feel so behind!!!!!!!
Connorsmommy – I would kill DH if his mom were there. She isn’t even invited up here until after the baby so I shouldn’t have to worry
Weight gain – I’m up over 20lbs at 26weeks. I have an appt tomorrow so I’ll see where I am.
Peds – we go to a family practice and so will the baby.
Things to get done – don’t know of a master list. You will need a ped or family physician. If you will need daycare, you should have that set. Have everything set at the hospital. Pre-reg is you can. Other than that I would think the only needed things are carseat, place for baby to sleep and food for the baby…either boob or bottle. Some say it is nice to have set aside frozen quick meals for the first few weeks or so. I can not think of anything else right now. If you have insurance and will need to add the baby, be sure you know the process (you usually have 30 days after birth to add them). I have a friend who did what she thought was right and it turned out to be wrong. She had to pay out of pocket for some of her daughters appts. Luckily her daughter was a well baby.
connorsmommy ~ OMG! I would have freaked out then and there if I saw MIL holding a spotlight.
shouldaeloped ~ The carb-loading is required by some doctors before the 3-hour test only so it's no help with the 1-hour test.
Pediatrician ~ My old pediatrician lives in our city and is DS' doctor. He has already accepted DD as a patient as well. We lucked out that he moved here because we didn't need to interview docs at all.
Hello All :D
Baby Lust I didn't even think to ask how much I failed by. They didn't mention the 3 day carb thing, but then again, they wanted it done asap and I got Thur so I wouldn't have had time anyway. I made my appt for 6:30 tomorrow morning so I can't eat after 6:30 tonight :(
connorsmommy I would have killed her :mad:
Ped We're going to use Niko's ped so that's taken care of.
People in delivery room Connorsmommy story reminded me sorta of my mom. She told my sis and I that she wanted to be in there when Niko was born. I didn't want anyone except Brian. I know that sounds selfish but we waited so long and went through so much to have him I wanted it to be just for us. I lied and told her that the hosp would only let him in. Being she doesn't live in this state and didn't know the truth. I told my sister though and she couldn't understand why I didn't want my mom there. My mom and I are not that close and never have been.
My mom is the type that if I had cursed in pain she would have yelled at me not to curse and I would have had to get off the bed and slap her. It just made it easier for me. And she would have complained the whole time that the room was too cold. She complained the whole time about my house being too cold for the baby. It was Aug and 90+ degrees outside. Was I supposed to have the heat on for her?
After Niko was born he was in the NICU and couldn't have visitors. My mom insisted that she was going to see him and they had to let her in cause she was the grandmother. I told her to leave him alone, let him get his rest and if I found out that she went to see him I would have her and my sis leave early.
Remodel Saga: The bathroom will be done this weekend :D The floor under the toilet is done and the hardibacker is now over it. The tub area is done except for a sealer coat on the grout in 2 weeks. The new toiled is in. The hole where the old medicine cabinet was is now patched. Brian will paint the ceiling tonight. Hang wallpaper tomorrow, paint it on Friday. Lay the new tile floor Sat and install the vanity on Sun. And then it's the little things like towel bar.
Raul can't come up so we're going to ask the contractor we know how much he'd charge just to do the two rooms down there. Hopefully it won't be too mcuh $$. We really need to hit lotto :D
Have a good day everyone :)
shoulda - I forgot to mention this earlier, but back in Dec/Jan I was having some really awful lower back pain - it hurt to walk sometimes, and moving my left leg forward was a chore. Since I'm a dancer and was performing soon, I needed a solution quick. So I ended up going to an acupuncturist after a massage didn't work. The acupuncturist was actually able to do a little gentle massage afterwards too, and about 4 days later, I totally forgot that I had been in pain. Just a thought if everything else you're doing doesn't work. I agree with ds though, the stretches she recommends are good ones.
ds - We went to Palm Springs for a long weekend. I don't know if you remember, but I'm no longer an East Coast Gal. :( But I would highly recommend going on a little Babymoon if you can!
Connorsmommy – What a shocker! I think I would have had to blow up and order her out!
Peds – OK, I'm totally clueless. How does this work?. We got a name of a ped. that is highly recommended. Do we now need to meet with them before the baby is born? Are y'all interviewing a few of them before making a decision?
Things to get done - we're soooooo far behind! You all seem so ready and we don't have anything yet. We've painted the baby's room, registered for a few things, purchased bedding, and ordered the nursery furntiure which should be here in May. But we really haven't bought much in terms of clothes or blankets or anything. I'm really hoping we'll get some things at the shower, and then go from there. Today I'm headed to BRU to update our registry and buy a few small things to have around the house (baby soap, diapers, creams, and things I feel awkward registering for).
Names - We've got to be the two most indecisive parents ever! We still can't choose between the two names we have. Although I think we're heavily leaning towards Brady Cooper. Any thoughts?
Gina: Brady Cooper is a cute name
Connorsmommy I would have died. That is why it will only be me & dh in the room - MIL wanted to be in there & I sat her straight as soon as she mentioned it. I do not want her seeing my "stuff"
Names: we are still undecided - This weeks names that we like are Abigail Hope or Bailey Reese - What do yall think? We both agreed on "Hope" for a middle name when we were TTC'ing. Now Dh loves the name Reese - which I like also .... decisions ... decisions
Well, we're another step closer to being ready for Dawson! :)
My *new* Medela PIS arrived yesterday in the mail. It was actually used by a LJ/WC friend who bought it in 2004 but only used it a small handful of times b/c her DD would not take a bottle at all. Anyway, I am so pleased with the pump - it's in brand new condition and she even included all the (still factory sealed) samples of everything from Lanisoh (sp?), breast pads, EBM storage bags (including an extra box of them unused!), etc. Her tubing/horns are sterilized and absolutely immaculate, but I'll be using my own that I had from last time. Anyway, I'm so excited about the pump -- can't wait to use it. (LOL…but only b/c that means Dawson will be here!)
And… my parents received delivery of my dozen Kissaluvs "seconds" that I ordered a couple of weeks ago! :) (long story - even though they're in Canada, my parents have a PO box in North Dakota that I use sometimes when I want to order something from the US that I can't get it shipped to Canada or that is too expensive to ship direct to Canada). My dad was like "geez, you better hope for another preemie -- if Dawson is a big baby, he'll never fit into these things - they're so tiny!" hehehe! They're going to re-mail them out to me next week! :)
****
Re: my spotlight holding MIL -- DH has admitted *some* responsibility after the fact, saying that at the time he didn't even think of asking her to leave again b/c he was sooo scared for me. He really thought I was going to die - lol - I really wasn't in much 'pain', my vitals were not going downhill or weird on us, and I required no extra medical interventions other than having my water broken. So hearing him say that after the fact really boggles my mind, even to this day. I personally think I had a very good, almost text-book labour/delivery. He seriously thought I was fighting for my life b/c I had some unexplained bleeding that night and when they broke my water, it was mixed with blood and they didn't know what it was (after the fact, they could see nothing wrong with my placenta or anything… it was just one of those things). So anyway, he was genuinely scared and could not imagine not having his moms' emotional support in the room with him.
That being said, I just realized that we shouldn't have to worry about her being in the room this time - She'll be taking care of Connor while we're at the hospital and since he can't be in the room with us, she can't either. LOL…though, we could have the MIL issue if I happen to go into labour while Connor is at his dayhome (he's going to continue to go part time after my job ends later this month). Hopefully it won't be an issue this time. But I guess if it is, Dh already knows my very strong feelings on the issue.
gina ~ Brady Cooper is a very cute name! I've always liked the name Brady.
sunshine ~ More cute names again! Reese and Hope are both adorable. I love one syllable names like those and Faith.
Connor's Mommy- I cannot believe she did that!! Sounds like it's straight out of an episode of Everyone Loves Raymond!
Niko- I didn't realize that the babies were already turned at this point. When I went in for my u/s the baby was sideways with it's head in my right hip. I just assumed the baby was still postitioned that way.
Getting things done- I am stress free for right now. I'm going to wait until after the showers to start worrying about what we still need to get.
Peds- My doc is suppose to give me a list at my next appointment of his recs. I think I will call them and see who are available and who seems most my style.
Exercise- So I've been good all week. I walked everyday except yesterday was crummy out. I am waking up a 1/2 hour early and exercising in the mornings and got my exercise ball out and doing exercises on that while I watch Idol.
Gina- Brady Cooper sounds like a great name!
Sunshine- I think both names are adorable but I favor Abigail. No real reason- I just can picture a little Abigail running around.
Gina ~ Love the name Brady...wish I could use it, but it just doesn't 'Fit' with our last name.
Sunshine ~ I love both Bailey (again though, doesn't fit with our last name, eventhough I tried) and Reese. Reese was a top runner for a girl (in my mind anyways.) Good luck though, you have some deciding to do, assuming you don't find something else you love.
Connorsmommy ~ The MIL thing would've freaked me out too...eventhough I love my MIL. We've decided (although haven't really communicated it all that well yet) that noone will be in the delivery room with us. I feel that if I have my mom in there, then MIL has to be allowed in too and the my sister will want to be there and it's just WAY TOO MUCH STRESS for me to deal with, especially during delivery.
Nikosmommy ~ Way to go on the bathroom remodel...at least an end is in site. Good luck with your GTT tomorrow.
Ped/Dr. ~ I lucked out with this, one of the original OB's/Dr. that I met with decided that she would accept both me and the baby as patients. I got lucky, as she was part of the group that I loved and was bummed I couldn't stay with (my Dr. left the practice.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Had a M/W appointment last night. Baby's HB was measuring 130 BPM, it seems that he's head down and VERY LOW. He's also pushed way back (the M/W had to really push to find him) towards my spine. So the movement I have been feeling so low, she figures is his hands. So I'm not really feeling kicks or anything up higher. And I haven't had any Rib Pain or anything like that.
Luckily, since he's so low, I haven't had any problems with Heartburn, Rib Pain or anything like that...but my poor bladder has been suffering. I guess he's resting right on it and I've been running to the bathroom every hour or two.
I *barely* passed my GTT. She said one of my numbers was 7.9 when the max they like to see is 7.8. She said it wasn't a big problem, just to watch myself closely, cut the sugar intake, cut down on white breads, etc. and we will see what happens (she did give me the option to go for the 3-hour test, but I declined.) She also wasn't too worried as I haven't had any protein in my urine either. I also have to start watching for baby's patterns...she said he will now start having a routine and I should notice times when he's awake, asleep, active, etc. That's pretty exciting thought though, he's almost ready to come out.
So, I'm now starting my appointments every 2-weeks. Still can't believe I've made it this far. Less than 9 weeks of work left and less that 11 weeks until my EDD. It's getting so close!

Gina- Brady Cooper is a very cute name! I loved the name Brady but Dh wasn't having it and my DS middle name will be Cooper so obviously I love that too!
Sunshine- I like them both, but I like Abigail better. Abigail Reese is cute too. I like old fashioned sounding names so I really like Abigail. It was at the top of my girl names list.
I have so much stuff going on I can't participate in the virtual shower but it's not for lack of wanting to! You guys have FUN doing it.
Breech-I didn't realize the babies could be turned that way yet either. I always feel like he's sideways because I get punched and kicked at opposite ends all the time, yet my ribs kill and that makes me think his toes are in there digging away already.

Kaeden's Mommy ~ I just wanted to say a HUGE THANKS to you for taking the virtual shower organization on...I know that I really appreciate it and there seem to be quite a few of us that are excited to do it.
You are wonderful to be our Threadmistress and to organize all of us in the shower...and just wanted you to know it.

Thanks to everyone for the opionions on "the names we like this week" - ha ha - we have changed our mind sooo much - we might be like those people that have 2 or 3 names picked out & have to see her before we decide - We have narrowed our list down from 15 names to about 5 ... so I guess that is some progress.
wooohoo the virtual shower is about to happen ... fun fun :D

Jbenny I don't really know what to either. I guess you can try loading up on protein, since that sticks with you more. My sil said that her last pg she was healthy, just gained alot of weight. I am sure her going past her due date had alot to do with the size of her baby. But a big baby does scare me!
Mrsbrownie My baby is kicking my bladder alot so I totally sympathize with you!
Kaden Thank you so much for organizing the shower!
Names Still don't have one. It is one of the hardest things we have to do!

i finally get a chance to come on here today! golly what a day!
doc appt this morning:i had my appt this morning and did the GTT - it wasnt so bad but i sure hope i pass cos i dont want to do the 3hr one since that stuff got too sweet after a few sips. the blood draw hurt and i have a nice bruise but oh well.
we got a sonogram too! baby is so cute (i'm biased of cos) and is already head down, weighing in at 2 lbs 12ounces! she measure my amniotic fluid and its at 12 which is really good. the hearbeat was strong and we saw baby have hiccups! and breathing as well...that was really neat to watch. she did say that i am measuring 28w 5d instead of 27w 3d cos of the measurements. so baby is head down with the back right against my belly button area and the legs are crossed and towards my right side. we couldnt see the face cos of the position of the baby. well we did get to see one ear!!! she said even if we want to know the sex, she wouldnt be able to see, cos of the position and the legs being crossed!
weight i was really panicking about getting on the scale cos i've had to endure listening to some rather annoying comments about my size lately and its just totally ticking me off that people can be so rude. i'm short so it gets to me more. so when i got on the scale expecting a 3 or more pounds weight i was pleasantly surprised and happy too when she told me i actually lost a half pound!!! so my total weight gain now is 17.5 which i'm not so happy about but i guess i can live with it.
i was bummed that my doc wont let me go to a conference for work thats in May but i understand his reasoning and my supervisor was cool with it. so oh well. i start going every 2wks now which freaked me out and dh too....cos it seems more real now and so much more has to be done...dh is in the middle of mid-terms and our home office is currently in shambles cos we're reorganizing and its just a little overwhelming, but we have to get everything done anyways so no use complaining!!!
names gina great name! so are your choices sunshine we are so at a loss in this dept. we have a girls name for sure but the boys are what we are having a harder time with. its really hard coming up with a good name to go with a one syllable last name thats pretty odd :rolleyes: (i think anyways!!!)
peds i've got a few recs from friends and will be going of those.
kaden thanks so much for organizing the virtual shower...i'm pretty excited about it cos i guess this might be the first thing of my registry!
Connorsmommy i dont know how u managed with your MIL in the room! i would have screamed if mine got in!
delivery room just dh and myself....i dont want anyone else in there.
but we're still debating on whether to let my mum in immediately after delivery or if we want at least 15mins alone as a new family first.....i dunno.
ETA: our crib came in today!!!

delivery room: We didn't let anyone in until I was moved to a room. That gave us about an hour to an hour and a half of time as a family. I also tried to BF for the first time during that period, and didn't want my parents and ILs staring at me during those first few tries.
weight: As of now, I'm up 13 pounds. Since I'm having to eat so much protein, my weight gain has really stalled out the past few weeks. I'm sure it'll catch up to me sooner than later.
Names: DH and I haven't even really discussed it. We have decided that if it's a girl, Elizabeth will most likely be the middle name. I have a grandma named Elizabeth and his grandma that passed away last week middle name was Elizabeth. We thought it'd be nice.
Baby position: This baby has been head down for quite a while. Mia was sideways up until about 30 weeks or so, and then turned. This baby is really low- I had the opposite problem at my last ultrasoun- the tech almost couldn't get low enough to get pics of the head.
Peds: This baby will go to the same ped that Mia does. We love him, and are so happy to have found him.
Well, I need to go get Mia to bed. I've been cleaning like a mad woman, trying to get the house in order. I'm doing the same at work since my boss is out of town. I need to have everything ready for my maternity leave.

Jay&Erinn What types of things are you eating that are protein rich? I am so lame when it comes to food!

I am going in for my 1 hour GTT test tomorrrow morning, my Dr. said to eat light. What exactly does that mean?

names I still have no idea. Not one single name.
baby position The dr. told us at our u/s, but I was so excited that it didn't really sink in and I'm not sure where he is.
peds I got a recommendation from a friend for a close-by practice.
delivery room It will definitely only be DH and I. I was thinking of not even calling anyone until the baby arrives. I'm afraid that just knowing that they're sitting out in the waiting room will make me feel pressured.
names Sunshine, I love yours, I have to go with your DH on this one, I LOVE Reese. Gina, I like Brady Cooper. My uncle's name is Brady and he's always been the only one around, but the name is getting much more popular. He gets called "Bradly" by accident all the time, but with the popularity of the name rising, there probably wouldn't be too much trouble with that anymore.
I almost forgot my biggest news of the day. I gave notice at work today and my last day will be March 30! It'll probably be the longest two weeks of my life. I hope its bearable. I just can't take the aggravation anymore. I was feeling guilty for leaving so early and putting all the financial responsibility on my DH when I could still work, but I'm getting over it REAL FAST!! It really is best for the baby for me not to be upset and aggravated all day every day and there's tons for me to do at here at home.

Yes, I am. I have never stayed home before, and like I said, I'm feeling a little guilty about it. Have you ever felt that way? I've always been pretty independent money-wise. When I started working at age 16, I got my own checking account and was pretty much on my own from then on out. It was a huge adjustment for me when we got married and combined our accounts, even though he makes a ton more than I do and it was to my advantage, I still felt guilty about it. Although I quickly got used to spending his money:D . And I'm going to have to curb my spending now that I won't be working, which will be hard, at least at first until we adjust and see what we have in the budget for spending without my paycheck. I need some tips on that thing called "will power," that keeps you from buying things. Yeah, I don't seem to have that.:)

Hello All :D
Quick Post...
Well I went for my 3 hour GTT at 6:30 this morning and 45 minutes after I drank the drank, I got sick :( TMI: it came up like a geiser. So they stopped at that point. I called my dr's office to see what they want me to do. I wasn't sick when I got there but the stuff just sat in my stomach and I knew it wasn't going anywhere :(
Back to square one.

Nikosmommy ~ I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you get some good news from the Dr.'s office, hopefully they won't make you drink that stuff for a third time, let alone have to fast again.
jbenny ~ I would be a SAHM if it was an option for us (unfortunately, at this point it's not) but I wouldn't discredit the work you will be doing at home when you have your baby. Don't feel guilty, you are contributing just as much to the family as your DH.
My mom was a SAHM of three and she also worked at night (for most of my childhood) and I tell you, watching her work I sometimes wondered why she didn't just go out and get a 'real' job (as she termed it) but I think we all benefited much more from her being home with us everyday than we would've otherwise.
Hopefully when the second comes along (probably within two years...yep, the planning has already begun) we will be in a better position and it will be possible for me to be at home or at least work part-time. Only time will tell though.

NIkos -- so sorry you got sick at your GTT -- not fun. :(
Jbenny -- congrats on being a SAHM after the 30th!! My last day here is the day after. It sure will be nice for both of us to be able to SAH for the final couple months before our babes are here!
Although I'll be at home at least one year (likely longer - until Dawson turns one), I will probably go back to work somewhere -- we really want to build a bonus room on the second floor and have decided to wait until I'm back in the work world next year before taking on the huge project. So at least that will be an incentive to get me used to the idea that i won't be a SAHM for the long term.

Hi again :)
Heard back from my dr's office. I asked about my last results, they look for 130 being the highest and I had 165 :eek: It wasn't my regular nurse or dr, they're in the hosp today; but she said that's not a panic high, they've seen higher. They are both off tomorrow so I will have to wait until Mon to hear from them. She's hoping my dr will want to do a blood glucose screen after a 12 hour fast. After they draw the blood, I would then eat and have blood drawn again after an hour. I asked why they just didn't have me do that in the first place. She said cause it's not as acurate as the 3 hour GTT but that is a back up for women who get sick like me.
I'm wondering if I failed the first cause even though I didn't eat after midnight and it was about 8:30 when I had it done, at 11:30 the night before I had a huge piece of cheesecake :o Could that still have been in my system a little? I'll have to ask Mon.
If I have to take the 3 hour though, Brian must take the day off of work. I was there at 6:30 and now that I'm home Nikolas is awake and I am struggling to stay awake :/
Other than that, it was Christmas at my house a few minutes ago. My SIL sister had a son a year before Nikolas and she sends us all of his clothes when he grows out of them. I just got another box :D They have the nicest stuff and it always smells so good. I saved all the stuff she sent and now the new one will be able to enjoy it too.
Pink I'm not sure what your dr's office will do if you get sick, but I think you must keep it down for at least the hour so it's in your system. You should be fine though for the hour. Just go first thing in the morning so you're not starving by the time you get there.
Have a good day everyone. BBL.

I'm soo excited about the virtual baby shower. It's going to be FUN!
Kaeden's - Thank you for organizing it!
Names - I'm pretty sure we're going to go with Lucas. Just not sure on a middle name yet.
delivery room - it will be DH and me for all I know. I don't mind so much if MY mom is there, b/c she was there last time for DS's birth. It was really cute to see her so excited then calling my dad right after to tell him it was a BOY. :) My MIL will definitely not be in there, though (per my request) Connors - I would have been soo mortified. :eek: MIL lives about 45 mins away anyways and she's a pretty conservative/private person. Don't think she would WANT to be there looking at my business anyways. ;)
nursery - we are actually holding off on the nursery for now because we are currently in the process of moving from CA to AZ. Well, the move isn't finalized yet, but if we do move it will be sometime in late July or Aug. So we are holding off for now. :( The baby can always use DS's crib...we'll just have to buy him a new big boy bed.
GTT - I took it a few weeks ago (the 1 hr test) and got my results last week and everything was OK. Phew! I was a little worried there for a second.
28 weeks Belly Shot
God...I feel sooo huge. I've already gained 19lbs to date. Look at those "man arms". :mad: LOL! And we still have 12 more weeks to go? :faints: I'm scared this one is going to be a BIG BABY!

Nesting-I woke up this morning with a sudden urge to organize and de-clutter. I cleaned out all the baskets on surfaces that are holding stuff, cleaned my "cleaning closet" where I keep cleaning supplies, candles, paper good, etc., cleaned out my china hutch and my cabinets on the built in. Then I started throwing up so I don't know how much more I will do today. Is anyone else doing this? I'd love to get all the insides of everything organized and cleaned and then start moving on to the outsides of everything, wiping everything down, etc. We also have to move our bedroom and bathroom stuff upstairs, do some touch up painting and painting, etc. I wish DH would get on board and get moving on some of this stuff. I want it do all be done so I can just keep it up til baby comes. My doors in the house are all old and grubby. What do you clean your wood doors with (they have a shiny surface), what about painted surfaces like baseboards, painted furniture, etc.? I want to throughly clean these surfaces but don't know what to do it with.
Shamocha-Love the name Lucas and cute belly shot.
Hi, can someone please talk some sense into me? I am at work and started peeing blood. I am a nurse so I dipped the urine and it definitely showed signs of a UTI. The receptionist told me I needed to go to the hospital right away because I was having pressure (which is normal with a UTI), I asked for an appt instead. The Doc got on the phone and told me as long as I was sure it wasn't vaginal bleeding, the baby was moving and I could send the urine for culture, she could just call in a prescription. Now I feel like maybe I should be seen. I have alot of groin and vaginal pain when I stand and I had kidney stones about 2 months before I got PG. What do you all think?
On a happier note, DH, DS and I are going away for the week starting on Sunday. We rented a condo in the mountains and will hang out in the pool, go outlet shopping, take Colton tubing (i'll refrain and just take pictures). It will be so nice to not have a schedule or do housework for a week. Hopefully I am feeling better then.
It took me 7 pages to catch up with you girls.
Weight gain-20 lbs in 28 weeks, not great but could be worse!
Sex of baby-Chase was waving it proud, no question there!
People in delivery room-I had my mom there and she was nothing but supportive. I made a last minute decision to bring MIL in as well and she was so touched and appreciative. I never knew that I could be that carefree about my body, usually I'm more modest. I must have had pregnancy pyschosis!!!!!

ruby ~ I'd get checked out just to be safe. I'm sure you're right that it's a UTI, but since you're having some pain and recently had kidney stones I'd want to be looked at. Hope all goes well!

Connorsmommy and JBenny ~ If you two don't stop rubbing it in that you are almost finished work were going to....just kidding. I'm so envious, but honestly I don't have a clue what I would do at home for two months before the baby comes. I hope you enjoy it...my favourite part would be not having to get up so early for work.
Ruby ~ I echo was Kaeden's mom said...better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully it's a quick visit to the hospital, but if you are wondering at all it would put your mind at ease.
Shamocha ~ Great belly shot...you don't look HUGE at all, I think you look great. Now me, I'm feeling huge lately and know that since the baby is sitting so low that I look bigger too. And I love the name Lucas (still on our short list.)
Pink ~ I'm in the nesting mode too, but am trying to curb it as much as possible. I know when I finally leave work (eight weeks on Tuesday) I will have all the baby's stuff organized (who are we kidding, it's already organized, I just need the furniture already) but will need some things to do. I'm already creating my list of things...wash both Shower Curtains, wash the bedroom curtains, wash the windows, vacuum all the floor surfaces and scrub the tiles, clean and plant the flower beds...on and on!
Good job though!
Nikos ~ Glad to hear that they aren't going to force you to do the 3-hour again. It doesn't sound like fun...hopefully though you get some good news after the next blood draw.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My baby is sitting so low that it's getting a little uncomfortable to walk. I find that I'm holding my belly now (not a pretty sight) cause I feel like he's just going to fall out. I also keep getting a stitch low and on the right side (by my hip) and just assume it's because of my size.
I'm curious though if this will mean an earlier labour or if there's any correlation at all. At least he won't have a far transition and luckily I'm not suffering with the heartburn.
I've also started cleaning up and organizing my stuff at work. I have about 4 more weeks until my replacement comes on board *knock wood* and want everything to be neat, tidy and organized. I have about 5 years of personal CRAP to get rid of and I want to keep my e-mail addresses, web-sites, etc. So better to start cleaning it out now than lose it all.
I'm also heading tonight to get my hair coloured and cut...thought I needed a little pick me up and wanted to get something a little more maintenance free (my roots are terrible too) I can hardly wait...it will be so nice to look nice again!
Ruby:
I think you should be able to trust yourself to tell the difference between peeing blood and vaginal bleeding. But if you think you may be in denial... go see the doctor! Sometimes we try to convince ourselves that everything's ok. I think the fact that you are asking us means that you are doubting yourself. You might as well go. I hope you caught the UTI early enough that it can be treated easily. Hope you feel better soon.
Nesting:
I have to admit that I am in a cleaning mode too. I am considering repainting our bathroom this weekend because I've noticed signs of mildew on the walls (I had used cheap paint 3 years ago. It's definitely not acceptable!). I have been cleaning my kitchen more thoroughly these days too (inside cabinets, doors, oven, fridge).
Pink:
I'd start cleaning the baseboards and doors with just soapy water. If that doesn't take care of it, I like using a cream cleaner (make sure you read the instructions in case it says not to use on painted surfaces).
Thanks for all your words of wisdom ladies. I have so much paranoia this week because DS had that horrible stomach bug on Mon and Tues, so I feel like I'm having phantom abdominal pains too! Nurses make the worst patients. ;) I'm still at work for now, I'm going to go into the ER tonight if the discomfort continues.
:D My favourite part will be not getting up at 5:45 every morning and having to cram myself into a sardine-packed train to get downtown.
what will I do for two months? honestly, I think I may be busier than ever!
Between all my own appts. and Connor's 3 year appts (dr. dentist, eye dr, hair cut, pictures, etc.), I'll be:
- helping DH paint the basement
- work on transferring ALL our old (home) videos onto DVD
- selling a whole pile of stuff on eBay
- purging/organizing/pricing for our big garage sale in early May
- cleaning out the office and coming up with an organizational plan to transition all our "office" stuff into the basement
- organizing photo albums (I'm about a year behind in making prints from digital...oops!)
- making (literally) about 1000 lip balms so that I'm stocked up through the christmas craft season this coming fall.
But more importantly, I will also be:
- Potty training Connor
- taking Connor to storytime at the library every tuesday
- taking Connor on one "field trip" per week (doing things he's never done before, like going to a movie, going bowling, going to the science centre, etc.)
- taking Connor on weekday playdates with some of his friends (who have SAHM's) that we never get to see b/c our weekends are currently too busy.
- catching up on writing e-mails to friends.
- reading at least two books/month
(have a headache after reading that?)
Nesting? I hate cleaning. I'll do the organize stuff, thank you very much! :D
Connor'smommy-love to hear more about how to make lip balm.....
