We're going on a family vacation to Yosemite in the middle of August. We're spending 2 nights at the Yosemite Lodge. At that time I will be 10 weeks pregnant, so strenuous hiking is out.
Any suggestions on must see sights or activities?
Thanks.

DH and I would like to go to Yosemite some day, so I will be paying close attention to this thread. Thanks for starting!

Can I add a question? What airport should we fly into to get to Yosemite?

We're flying to San Francisco and then driving the 5 hours to the park. I think the closest airport is in Fresno, but you still need to drive a bit to get there.

dasha- we went to Yosemite last year (got PG there!! hahaha) Mariposa grove is cool, you can take the tram thing around, it is like 5 bucks a person. It is a LONG drive from the Valley floor though. DH and I also drove up to some point (same road as Mariposa Gove) and watched the sun set over half dome. You can probably "hike" (aka walk) to any of the waterfalls. I heard on the news that they are GREAT this year, cause they had LOTs of snow. You could eat lunch at the Awanahee(sp?). Oh, and there are bears in the park, one walked RIGHT NEXT TO OUR CABIN.. two nights in a row... it was AWESOME (until my stupid fil RAN AFTER IT!?!?!?!)

HAVE FUN!!

We went up a couple of years ago (1.5 maybe?) and I was sick and couldn't do any hikes, so we went to the Awahnee and walked around. I hear they have an amazing Sunday brunch, but we didn't make reservations and it was full. There is also a waterfall that is only a 1/2 mile walk in. They've recently repaved the trail so that even people in walkers/wheelchairs can get in, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

I grew up right near Yosemite. Fresno is the closest airport, but expensive. Really San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco are all about the same distance away and SWA flies into San Jose and Oakland - they sometimes have good deals.

I know all about Yosemite! I've been there several times throughout my life. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. You have to make reservations way the heck in advance. Even for camping. Plan ahead.
