Hi everyone!
I have seen some really neat DIY projects (of all kinds) posted on some of the threads through out CC. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to post any DIY projects here, so other brides can get ideas for their weddings or maybe even the template to create their own! I hope this works well for brides-to-be and for others who may/could use them for parties. :)

GG, I actually have your bouquet in my inspiration folder! I love it!

LOL if you're doing silk, you can have it when I'm done with it, if you want.

Natasha

It's the wrong color, but I LOVE that bouquet. Everything about it. Thank you for the offer. That was really, really nice of you!

Meh np. I just have no idea what I'm going to do with all this stuff once we're married! The bouquets, the bouts, the pew decorations, etc... I'm thinking of just donating them all to the chapel that we're getting married at, so the owner can let other brides use them if they like...

I can't imagine what people who have big weddings do with all their stuff! :p

Natasha
02-08-2006, 10:42 PM
That is such a good idea! I'm sure the chapel would appreciate it. That would make life so easy on a bride with a budget. How hard were they to make? If I can find good silks, I may try to do it, too.

Hi there. My wedding is over, but I stopped in because my wedding was a complete DIY from my dress right down to the cake. I love the candles Ashbe and was just wondering how you put the pictures on and the writing? They're really lovely.

We were going to do this too. I was near done with them, when I was in a car wreck two nights before the wedding, so it turned the DIY stuff kinda upside down. So, they didn't get done.

Ours were a little different though. We had the different numbers that coordinated with pictures of us when we were that age. . .

I thought it would be a cool way to "personalize" our wedding. . .but there was other stuff there to personalize it, so it was okay! :)

2mm sapphire cabs set in sterling....it looks a bit 'chunky' in the photos, but in reality, it's very slim...2mm wide, I've got small hands ;)....the better to make jewelry

I just had to jump in and say WOW... your DIY projects are all really impressive!! Luzbel, I can't believe you made your own rings-- that's so cool! And Brandonsbride, your favors are adorable. I'm loving everyone's projects. :D

We had a couple of DIY things, but they were mostly DH's job, since I am just not patient enough for craft projects. DH made our escort cards and table cards-- they looked awesome. I did the out-of-town boxes.

Table cards (our tables were named for Loire Valley chateaux, since we honeymooned there):

This is the only picture I have scanned of our invites. The red is part of it and folded over the invite, where a wax seal held it in place. The seal is in the upper right corner. This also shows our change of address cards that we attached to the cones used for the pedal toss.

The picture I have online is really small, but these are the business card sized magnets I designed.
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/goddessnike13/Stationery/businesscardmagnet3copy.jpg

I'm having Vista Print print them though since they were running a special. I'm getting them professionally printed for less $$ than if I printed them at home. This is the only DIY project thus far (at least the only successful one), but I'm planning a lot more. I'm designing our invitations and enclosures because we have kind of a weird situation. We haven't decided if we're printing them at home or having them printed somewhere yet. I'm planning on making the place/escort/table cards or whatever we decide to do as well. My mom and dad are working on the card box for the reception. We're modeling it off this (http://images.snapfish.com/346326785%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3A%3D%3C4%3B%3D%3C47%3 DXROQDF%3E2323%3A92%3B%3A86%3A4ot1lsi) one. I attempted to make a veil but that didn't turn out well at all. I should have known I'm not nearly patient enough for something like that!

It was about 6 pages in length with a different page for each item - wedding location, ceremony/reception, hotel information, local activities, our website. All pages had the same layout.

Overall, I was pretty happy with how they turned out, and they got rave reviews. :)

love that paper too! do you mind sharing where you get it from please?

thanks!I got that silvery leaf vellum at a local paper store called Merchant's Art & Paper, but I don't know what brand it is or if the store carries it anymore (I bought it for my invitations back in late 2003/early 2004). Their website is www.merchantsartandpaper.com, but I don't think they sell products through their website yet. If you REALLY want to try to find that paper you might be able to call or email the store & describe it to them & find out if they still carry it or could order it or something.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Here's the inside:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3cc36b3127cce9bbaca1748b600000016108AatGzdo5YtW
I made the programs which was a 3-fold with an insert and a paper wrap with our named embossed on the wrap. I bought the textured cardstock already scored. Here's the outside:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3cc36b3127cce9bbaca14c98500000015108AatGzdo5YtW
Also, I didn't make our invitations, but I did do the rice paper wrap with ribbon and names myself in lieu of an inner envelope.

I made our save the date "message in the bottles"

We sent these bottles in small white boxes:
http://images.snapfish.com/346397445%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D3247%3E89%3A%3E2%3B5%3EWS NRCG%3D323354%3B639%3B95nu0mrj

There was a message in the bottle that was the actual save the date:
http://images.snapfish.com/346397445%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D3247%3E89%3A%3E2%3B5%3EWS NRCG%3D323354%3B5%3C87%3A6nu0mrj

This is a fuzzy close up picture of the actual insert.
http://images.snapfish.com/346397445%7Ffp335%3Enu%3D3247%3E89%3A%3E2%3B5%3EWS NRCG%3D323354%3B639%3B96nu0mrj

The insert reads "Times are busy and calendars fill quickly, Kristy and John, want you to know they are planning their wedding cruise for the week of August 19th through August 26th 2006 aboard the Caribbean Princess."
The background is a watermark version of my avatar picture...which is a Princess ship.

LOL!

I finally found the picture of the board I made. It was with my bridal shots (go figure). It has pictures of us growing up on each side (one for each of use with sayings like "I love this man", "Woman of my dreams", etc) and pictures of us as a couple with wedding quotes. It was a big hit.

Everyone got a kick out of Jeff's high school "Mel Gibson Haircut" picture. It was hilarious!!

I have more but work is just about done and I'm going home.

Some other things I'll post later are the illuminaries we made (but didn't use), the Thank You baskets I did for the hostesses of my showers, and some other wedding stuff.

Yes it is a Kolo album - it's called Newbury. I ordered it through this website (http://www.perannum.com/photoalbums.asp) because they offered the foil imprinting that I wanted. ;)

Ashbe

It's actually sort of a process to make them. You have to stamp the stamp onto certain types of paper. Mulberry, tissue, etc. Then you have to melt the stamp from that paper onto the candle. It takes practice! I made my unity candle for my wedding and some decorative candles and posted in my knot bio. Soon after that people started e-mailing me and having me make their unity candles and/or BM gift candles or decorative candles (like for a cake table, card table, cocktail table, etc.) for their wedding. (I posted it in the services here, but no hits yet. No biggie though.) :) The funny thing is that I really enjoy making these. Its sort of like therapy for me. :)

Michelle&Russ - Wow, I LOVE that escort card board. If you're still checking this thread, how does it work?

My invitations are almost ready (mailing date is this weekend!) so I thought I'd post

We are having 2 receptions, so there are a LOT of components. Some people are invited to the 1st reception, some only to the 2nd, and some are invited to both. The colors are cream and dark red, though the pictures sometimes make the cream look peach or pink. Sorry there are so many pics!

Top row: 1) This is the wedding invitation envelope as it will arrive in the mailbox (we need to add a stamp). 2) The back of the envelope with the return address (envelopes are roughly 7.5" square)

Bottom row: 1) Pulled out of the envelope. 2) Other side with the "Seal." Some people (those with children too young to receive their own invite or those people who we're allowing to bring a guest) will have their names on a smaller piece of cardstock on the seal, but we haven't finished those yet.

Top row: 1) Opened up. 2) With the enclosures removed

Bottom row: 1) Enclosures for reception #1. 2) Reception #1 directions

Top row: 1) Reception #1 RSVP. 2) Both RSVP

Bottom row: 1) Enclosure inviting people who are invited to both receptions to reception #2. 2) RSVP envelope

And here are the invites for people who are only invited to reception #2 (these are done in cream and black and the corners are all rounded.)

Top row: 1) The envelope as it will arrive to reception #2 guests (we'll need to add a stamp of course) 2) As it's opened.

Bottom row: 1) The back of the envelope (these are 5x7) 2) All the stuff out of the envelope.

Top row: 1) Reception #2 invite 2) Reception #2 enclosures

Bottom row: 1) Reception #2 directions 2) Reception #2 RSVP

Thanks nicole! I love your invitations, they came out beautifully!!!

The escort card board was up on an easel at the entrance to the reception. The escort cards are attached with a small amt of velcro to the ribbon and come off very easily, so people were just able to walk up and take their cards and head to their tables. :)

This thread needs reviving! :)

I had a few more DIY projects for my wedding last weekend.

Our table number cards

Front

We had some conversation starters on the back
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c256/goddessnike13/Stationery/IMG_1067small.jpg

The programs were a half sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper folded in half on the short side to make them 4.25 x 5.5. The inside pages were printed on stardream opal paper, and the cover was printed on vellum so you could see through to the photos that were printed underneath

I obviously didn't make the frame, but this is our seating chart (small wedding)

i'm going to ask my sister to drop in and post everything from her wedding (my photos from her wedding are on snapfish and won't show up here). i made the invitations, we did all the flowers together, and decorated the reception location.
