OK, I know I am crazy but this is the only time in my life I would actually like to have a visit from AF.

I went off BCP in March and went two months without a visit. She finally showed up at the beginning of May. Now its been another two cycles going on the third and she is still not here. I have tested and am not pregnant. Did anyone esle experience this when going off the pill. DH and I are just having fun and if we get pregnant then great, but I still would like to know what happend to AF. My DR. said she can't do anything until I miss 3 cycles and then she will jump start it.

Any Advice would be great

When I went off the pill I didn't get AF for 3 months. The first two months I took PT and they were negative. On the third month I took one on a whim and it was positive. I got pg after not having AF for months. I don't know if your situation is the same but it is possible.

I know you said you are just having fun right now, but because of your cycles and you wanting to know what is going on, I'd recommend starting to chart. It will help you see whether you just O late and therefore have a long cycle or if you're not Oing at all.

That said, if you aren't interested in doing that, at least keep track of the dates of your cycles just in case you need them down the road. Right now it might be easy to remember, but a year from now, it might not be.

Also, if you are just coming off of the pill, it could just be whacky hormones. Do you remember what your cycles were like pre pill? If they were whacky before, they will likely be again.

Several years ago, I went off BCP for a few months because, well, I didn't need it. AF did not come for 3 months. I went to the dr. to get back on BCP for many reasons and they made me take a pg test (even though there was clearly no reason for it). When it came back neg., she gave me something to jump-start it for me. In my teens I had had irregular periods before going on BCP. The dr. said that that was probably why I didn't have one for 3 months when I went off.

I went off BCP again late last fall because we were going to 'see what happens' and I had one long, long cycle, but after that I have been fairly regular with cycles of 33-38 days. I just started charting a couple of months ago, when we got serious about TTC, but before that I just kept track of how long my cycles were in case my dr. needed the info. HTH!

Hey! Like the others said it is pretty normal for AF to disappear after coming off BCP. BCP has a different effect on everyone, I know for me I had one really long cycle but then they got a lot shorter than prior to BCP. I definitely think that charting might help you figure out what is going on.

I'm with you. I've been off BCP since December. I've had no O and no AF. My Dr. gave me progesterone to jump start my cycle in April. I had some breakthrough bleeding, but nothing since. I'd be happy to see AF now, too.

Thanks for the updates. I have a DR appointment at the end of the month. If I don't start before then. She said she would jump start it. Then after that I will chart to see what is happening with my body, pre pill I had normal periods that were always 28 days apart, the only thing the pill did was lighten them up......

Thanks Again

I could have written the part above, and when I went off BCP, I didn't have my period for 2+ months. I took a million HPT (okay, maybe like 6), all negative, and finally, AF came.

Hi C!!!! I just wanted to chime in and say that when I went off BCP, my first cycle was well over 100 days. My second cycle was 41 days, and my third 29. I'm now on CD50 or so, giving me just 3 visits from AF since Novemeber, wow hey?

I knwo I'm not much help, but I wanted to let you know that as frustrating as it is, it's "normal" and you're not alone.

I just want to thank all of you for your congrats. When I get home tonight I plan on typing up all of the excitement over the weekend here. Then try to start a journal...

Still not sure how far along I am or anything as without having a period its hard to tell. Hopefully when my blood test comes in we will be able to shed some light on to possible due dates.... Right now we are looking at March to earlier April.
