My husband and I are meeting with a real estate agent tomorrow. We really clicked on the phone, so I'm looking forward to meeting her. When selecting an agent, what's the most important thing? I would think experience, but what do I know. ;) Are there any specific questions that we should ask her?

This is the first time either one of us has done this. Our current situation is that we're selling a home (my parents home), and we need to find a new one. Obviously we have a general idea of how this all works, but is there anything that you may have wished you did when you bought your home.

Thanks!! :)

Here are some tips from a Realtor (Me!) ;) :

1) Request to view marketing she has done in the past for other homes.
2) Check out her website and other websites that she works with. The internet is a VERY powerful tool when selling/buying a home, this is a MUST!
3) Ask her for references, talk to past clients.
4) Be sure to get a detailed report of the market times and sale prices of properties in your area.
5) Come straight out and ask her basically what she has to offer you. Ask her why you should choose her to sell your home?

Experience is of course important, and also make sure your personalities *click* because you will be working very closely with this person for the next few months.

Good Luck!

Thanks Juliet! I really appreciate your reply.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel today, but we're going to meet with her next week.

eta: funny how this thread got 28 views, yet only one reply

I'm going to bump this to see if anyone has questions to ask a potential buyer's rep realtor. You know-- the questions that will help us figure out if we "click" with the person that will be our front line in finding a house in a city 3,000 miles away. Any suggestions?
