How can I skip my period or try to change when it comes. I do not want to be on my period during vacation. I have heard something in regards to getting on birth control. If so when should I start taking it and what do I need to do to make it skip? It would be something I need to do only once. Thanks in advance for any information that you could give me.

I am not a doctor or a pharmacist, just someone who has done this a few times.

Skip the placebo pills and start your new pack right when you finish the "active" pills. If there is time before your vacation, do it ahead of time, because some women still spot when they would normally have taken the placebos.

Wait--I just re-read your post. Are you not on the pill now? If not, I have no idea how it works with going on/manipulating cycles.

You would have to start on the pill. You take 3 weeks worth, and then skip the placebo week (week 4) and go straight to the next pack.

FYI, I wouldn't start on the pill right before vacation, though. It can have some side effects which wouldn't be fun dealing with for the first time on vacation. Plus, some have some spotting when doing this, especially at first. You may want to get started on it a few months before your vacation.

bookworm & houseblend, thank you very much. LOL, I am just sitting here laughing because when I call the doctor for BC he is going to wonder why since my DH is snipped.

I had this problem before my wedding. I did not want to start on my wedding weekend/honeymoon. The nurse told me that I could take the herb Black Cohosh for approximately 8 days before you want to start and it will bring it on. I had my doubts about it working, but it worked. It moved my period up to the week that I wanted it to start.

The nurse said not to use this trick too often but on occasion it is harmless. Good luck!
