Yay! Thanks for getting this set up Annie! You work fast :D

So, I spent some time this morning taking all of our Grady pictures off of WC. I figured if I was going to be spending alot of time over here, then I would remove the pictures over there. I kind of felt bad deleting them, but after reading that post on the Parenting board, I realize I'd better be careful about the trail of pictures I leave behind. Not that I think anyone is stalking the November Mommies thread on WC, but you never know. ;) Gosh it makes you realize that there are some sicko's out there.

Grady's super tired right now so I'd better get him fed and off to bed. I'll try to post a new picture tonight!

Kate :)

I'm here too. It's me, Sherry; decided to change my username. I'm with Kate; trying to delete pics over at the old place. :mad: I'm one of the lucky ones who can't access her old account anymore, so I'm trying to get DH to print out my journals and then to heck with 'em. They can go ahead and delete my whole account. Makes me so mad... so anyway no pics from me, at least not for now.

Abby celebrated her Independence by crawling for real for the first time. She'd been army crawling for several weeks, but she finally managed to stay up on her knees. Although she also seems to do the crab walk too sometimes - up on her toes and hands. Very strange looking. She's also been pulling herself up on EVERYthing. - Crib, coffee table, dresser, our knees, the closet doors, etc.. She's started cruising around her crib, too. As soon as she wakes up, she stands and chews on the crib rail. :p This afternoon I gave her her first non-pureed food: banana slices. She was pretty funny - had no idea what to do with them. So she squished them around the bowl for a while until she finally stuck a hand near herself and made this 'ohhh, I see!' face. :)

Ok, gotta go. Thanks for moving us over, Annie! :)

Jack started crawling last night. I am so excited for him. He only went a couple of inches but this time he stayed up on his hands and knees. I immideatly called his daddy who was very very excited. Growing up too fast I tell ya!

No teeth yet for my little one though. I thought for sure that he would have some soon especially after the fever that he had this weekend. But nothing. His upper gums are kinda red so maybe they will come in first before his lower ones. Guess all that I can do is keep an eye on them.

Sherry and Kate I am so happy to see you both! I was thinking that in light of the recent photo issues I would be happy to remove the pictures of Grady and Abby for you. I don't want to cause any undo stress on you thinking that some perve is using them ..... blech I don't even like thinking about it. Just let me know!

Kates

Annie, yay for Jack crawling! Hopefully he'll get his teeth in soon, and not all at once!

I would be happy to remove the pictures of Grady and Abby for you. I don't want to cause any undo stress on you thinking that some perve is using them .....
No worries Annie, I'm actually fine with the pictures that are over here and the one's that are left on WC. I just didn't want tonnes of Grady pics in every website I've visited since his birth. We just think he's so darn cute, it's hard not to post his picture everywhere ;) I think I'll just keep my picture posting to CC from now on.

----------------------
Grady isn't crawling yet, but he's a little rolling machine. We put him down on the floor and he's rolled off into another room before we know it. It's really funny to watch him go. He's so close to crawling, he'll get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth, but then he rolls onto his tummy to get anywhere.

So, we are just in the midst of getting ready for our summer vacation. My parents rented a beach house on Prince Edward Island for a week, so my whole family is going down. We fly into Halifax and then drive to PEI, and then back to Halifax again at the end of the week. We're also planning to meet up with Joelle (Duke's Flygirl) from our WC November Mommies group, she lives in Halifax. It's amazing how much stuff we have to bring, the P&P, the carseat, the stroller, toys for Grady, DH's golf clubs, and oh, we need to bring clothes too! Hopefully the weather will be nicce.

Annie, no big deal on the pic! You can leave it. I'm mainly trying to get rid of the ones where she's not fully clothed. And the whole ugly thing just made me want to back up on posting new pics at all for a while. I'm sure I'll post more again sometime soon; just taking a break. :) No teeth for Jack? Could be any time, though! Abby's two bottom ones just popped out all the sudden - one one day, and the other about 4 days later. Now she looks like a little (reversed) beaver.

Kate, have fun on your trip! I so want to meet some of the Nov moms in person. Eventually I think we'll meet Stacey since she's just down in LA, but who knows when! And man, you have to have a lot of stuff to travel with the babies!! We've taken two trips with Abby that required plane rides. Adam and I had one suitcase between us, and Abby had a carseat, PNP, diaper bag, stroller, etc., etc.. LOL!

Hello, it's AJ, mom of the X-man!
Hurray for the crawlers!
What thread on parenting? Can you provide a thread name or link? I think I need to try and delete some pics, but it is harder now that the Search engine is so diffferent. Any links to our old Nov Moms threads?
Here's just a little pic from today:

Hiya AJ and Marlene! I had to finally DL Firefox in order to view CC. IE kept taking a crap on me. I hope that I don't get caught at work. :eek: That would be bad. ;)

AJ that new picture of X is great! Jack doesn't do that yet. He likes to stand up but only on mommy! I put the links to our old threads on the first page. I hope that they work. I had to go and find them, which was a chore within itself let me tell you!

Kates

AJ, the thread that had a few of us concerned about pictures is this one: http://boards.weddingchannel.com/thread.jspa?threadID=495320&tstart=0
Basically someone found a site that posted pictures of babies in their diapers, and the people who frequented that site, well, um, got off on the pictures. Most of the pictures were from mothering.com(?) but you never know who lurks on WC.
I'm glad they finally let you sign up here :D. Love the picture of X and the cats! It looks like Grady and Xavier have the same hair thing going on, still a little bald patch on the back of the head. Does that ever grow in? Grady's is really bad because he's got a swirl in his hair right above the bald part that prevents any hair from actually making down the back of his head. So much for trying to do a comb over :D

annielynn
07-08-2005, 08:43 AM
I loves those pictures Kate. Grady is such a big boy! Does he like standing on you and DH all the time? Jack sure does

Seeing those pictures of Grady reminded me, I have noticed lately that I have like 3 pictures total of Jack and I and hundreds of pictures with him and his daddy. Anyone else like this? I have got to let Paul hold the camera from now on. I hate having my picture taken most of the time but I don't want to miss having those special mommy and son pictures in the future.

Abby'sMom
07-08-2005, 10:01 AM
AJ - LOL, Abby does the same thing pulling herself up! She only wishes we had a screen door so she and the cat could see outside!

Kate - Abby had a bald spot for a while too but it filled in a month or two ago. She still doesn't have much hair though.

Annie - Yup, most of our photos feature Adam and Abby. I have to hand him the camera and take her in order to appear in any. Of course, I make up for that by taking a picture with her each month on her 'monthday'. ;) I've been having her picture taken every 3rd. At least most places are pretty cheap at this point!

So where are the girlmamas here?!

Paula R
07-08-2005, 12:10 PM
I'm not a girlmama but I finally made it here!

Caden's been crawling for a while. Really, it not crawling it some odd combination of scooting on his but and crawling. He's down on his right knee like hes crawling but his left leg is bent in front of him. Its hilarious to watch him move around. I keep trying to put his left leg back behind him but he brings it right back to the front. It works for him because he can move very fast! I've just never seen anything like it.

He pulls up to standing on everything but haven't started cruising yet.

Still no teeth! He is however, a greedy little pig. He hazes us until he gets food. I remember when I couldn't get him to eat solids. Now, he eats anything and everything in site.

AJ and Kate , love the pictures of your boys!

Annie, I have only a few pictures of me with my boys too. Lots of pictures of the boys with DH though. For all my mom friends, I usually try to make a point of carrying my camera with me when I go visit so I can make sure they get some pictures of them with their baby.

07-08-2005, 12:26 PM
Hiya Paula! Glad you found us. Isn't it amazing how much food our little ones can consume when they have no teeth. I think that Jack would try and eat baby back ribs if he could! :eek:

Just for Sherry's sake. HELLO girlmamas! Where are you? I do know that Joelle is vacation. I am sure that she will be here as soon as she gets back. And I am sure that some of our mommas are having a hard time getting on CC. I do like firefox though. It is really a nice browser. I cannot believe that I had never heard of it before.

AJ7 That X is such a cutie. oh....He almost looked like he is longing to get out.

Gwen has been pulling up to a stand and crawling for the last week. Can't believe how time is going so fast. I really have to get around to taking some standing pictures of her.

Hello ladies! Cindy here..formerly Salsagirl. I changed my username..b/c I never really liked it anyhow. :p

So excited to see our thread growing so fast already!
Once I figure out the specifics of using CC, I'll be updating my siggy and such. Still a little leary abt posting pics due to the above mentioned issue, so for now I'll be posting new pics into my LJ, which is friends only.
I'm CMW02 over there too, so let me know if you want me to add you so you can see pics.

Simone update: A-hemm {emabarrased} We finally went for her 6 month checkup yesterday. I know..only 1.5 months late... Yikes. How bad am I.

So anyhow...here are her new stats:
length: 30.5 " (WAY off the charts)
Weight: 20.14 oz (Back closer to the chart, but still over 99%)
Head:??Cant remember the exact number, but in 75th percentile.

Were given the okay to start more foods so we'll try new fruits (melons etc) and veggies and some chicken, turkey etc.
She is just NOW starting to show signs of crawling. She hates being on her tummy so it makes it difficult to learn, but she is now up on all 4rs, and rocking quite a bit.
AND YESTERDAY, she learned how to pull herself up to standing!
I put her in her crib while I went to brush my hair, and when I came back, there she was ....STANDING up holding onto the railing, smiling like crazy. Oy vei!
So, we'll be lowering the mattress and baby proofing the house this weekend. Should be fun! And we thought we had it bad before eh? I'm SO looking forward to her being mobile. LOL YIKES!

Well, I'd better get some work done today.
TGIF! Have a great weekend.

and AJ--LOVE that pic of X!

Hiya Cindy and Franni! I am glad that you both found your way here. This is so exciting to catching up again.

Cindy! tsk tsk 1.5 months late. What are you thinking mommy?!?! :D :p S is growing up so fast! Definately time to drop the sides on the crib.

I changed the first pages. I only included those of us that are here. I hope that more of us find our way over here soon. I kept all the information saved on my pc so that I can add then really fast. This way we know who is here and who isn't!!

I hope that everyone has a great weekend. I think that we are going to be underwater because of Dennis. I hope that I can find my pool floaties! :D

I'm so glad everyone is coming over here!!

Annie: You are such a good thread mistress! Thanks for doing it! And about pictures, I am the same way. Even if I have my DH take a pic of Frankie and me, I end up deleting it cuz' I don't like the way I look. I really need to stop doing that or I'll end up with no pictures of us!!

Kate: Wow, Grady is looking like such a little man!!

Cindy: :) Nice to see you here! I'll definitely be keeping up with your LJ...I love seeing pictures of your precious Simone!

AJX

Greetings to all who have found us!
Thanks for the link to the scary thread. I went through more than a hundred pages of our old threads and deleted all I found, just as a precaution. I will also be removing pics from here at the end of each month, I think. {SIGH}
Kate, adorable pics of Grady.
Cindy, WOW! 30.5" is amazing. X is "only" 28.5 and he's like 90th percentile.
Thanks for the X compliments. I am going insane trying to find child care for the Fall semester. Can't get into any centers, which I can't afford anyway at $57/day. None do part-time care, and most home caregivers don't want to take on my PT kid cuz they might then have to turn down someone who wants them FT. It's a mess. So I am now interviewing students in the child-development school at the university, but am in completely over my head. Have no idea what to do, esp since many of them don't have cars, and we live off-campus. Pick them up? Let X go to their campus apt, which won't be baby-proofed? Have them do what I do, and take him to the Group Study section of the library, since it's just 2-3 hours MWF? GACK! Any advice on choosing a caregiver?

annielynn
07-11-2005, 07:18 AM
Good Morning all. What a weekend I had! Jack is full on crawling now and he has also learned to sit up on his own. It is so great and so scary at the same time. My little man is fast I tell ya. One minute he is playing with his toys and the next minute he is across the room trying to chew on Dada's shoes (ICKY!!) We finally dropped the crip matress last night. I feel a lot more secure now that he will not fall out but I am WAY too short. I am having the hardest time getting him in and out of there! I hope that it will get easier.

AJ I wish that I had some advice for you on choosing a caregiver. We are in the hunt for one right now. My sister who has been Jack's daycare for the last 8 months has decided that she wants to go back to work. UGH which means I have to start paying someone to watch him every week. Money that we really don't have!

CMW02
07-11-2005, 10:50 AM
Oh Annie, I feel your pain. S isn't exactly crawling, but she's scooting around (on her butt) alot and rolling over everywhere.
She *almost* tumbled off my bed this weekend. Oh my. So, no more naps in our bed alone for her. We've also dropped the crib mattress b/c she now stands and jumps up and down in her crib. Oy vei.
And we thought we had it rough before eh? lol

Hope you all had a great weekend!

PS- I too am searching for new caregiver. W/ S being so mobile now, my mom simply cant do it anymore. UGH! Its so hard b/c I trust nobody! ;)

I feel bad that I have been neglecting my personal journal but coming over here everyday but.... OH WELL! :D :p

Jack has got a cold. :( The poor thing has a runny nose and now a horrible cough. The good thing is that he doesn't act sick in anyway. He is still eating good and crawling around everywhere. I will have to keep an eye on him though. If he isn't any better by Friday I think that we will have to take a trip to the peds office.

I went and met with an at home daycare yesterday. The lady that runs it is great. Jack loved her. Her house is very clean. She has been running this daycare for 21 years and is licensed with the state. She only has 4 kids, 2 of them are 10 months and 14 months. I think that will be a perfect interation age for Jack. I felt very comfortable in her home and I got to meet her entire family (daughters and husband.) I think that I am going to start taking Jack to her come the 8th of August. Before I make a final decision I want Paul to meet her. Just for that added security.

Well back to work I go. I hope that this day just flies by!

Hey november mommies where are you? This thread is really quiet.

I'm here! I think I've kind of fizzled when it comes to message board stuff lately. Busy, for some reason. ;)

We had our first meeting with our playgroup Tuesday. Abby's the youngest of 7. Next youngest baby is a tad under 2 months her senior. The rest of them are either over a year, or just under. There are two or three 14 month olds in the mix. She was very interested in watching them walk around. I'm a little worried about her being so much younger, but we'll try it out for a while. I'm bummed that there aren't any babies her age in the group. I'm also the youngest mommy by a pretty good margin. We're just the babies of the baby group!

Gotta go.

AJX
07-15-2005, 12:13 PM
Sherry, don't worry abt the age diffs. They're not that different if they were anything but babies, ya know? In six months, the diffs will be far less. They could still end up in the same kindergarten class, is what I tell myself when I meet new neighbors w/ babies who are less than a year older or younger than X.

Annie, hope Jack's cold is over.

Hey, hey, Paula, (why have I never thought to irk you w/ that line before? ;) ), yeah, it's crazy over here. Only three more weeks of class, and I've been emailing and interviewing caregivers while spending my days at the campus library b/c it has real AC going to preserve the books.

X is springing teeth 5-8 now, v slowly.

Heat awful. Thank goodness they finally made a sugar-free Crystal Light Slurpee! :D

I think its great that you've gotten her into a playgroup Sherry! It may be interesting to see how she develops now with the diff age ranges in her group.
I am really wanting to get into a group of sometype too...for Simone AND for me to meet other mom's.

I've got the babysitting woes.
My mom watches S on M/W and my Dh and I had been trading off every other Fri. But today, DH couldnt watch her and I was STRAPPED for a sitter. I was really wishing I had a group of ladies to call and ask. Made me realize I need more mommy friends!

Sherry- how did you go about finding the play group?
I havent even tried to investigate it, but I'm just wondering.

Its been a rough week. TGIF!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend.

Frankie had his 9 month check up last Wed. His stats were:
20 lb 7.5 oz
27.5 inches

He is around the 50th percentile for heighth and weight, but 75% for his head! I think that is normal though. I was so happy when the doctor said Frankie didn't need any shots, but then sad when he said Frankie needed a blood test. I guess they test for lead, anemia, and some other stuff. I was mortified about having to hold Frankie. He was so happy when he was sitting on my lap looking at the nurse, but then started to freak out when they held his arm down. 2 nurses tried to find his veins, but were having lots of trouble. He kept crying and crying and I felt terrible!! Finally after a few more pokes they were able to get blood. He stopped crying as soon as it was over, but gave the nurse a very evil stare when we left! I don't blame him.

He is crawling every where now. He loves to crawl over to our dogs and climb on them. We have an apple tree in our backyard, and every morning our dog Jasmine goes out and picks one to eat. Well I was in the kitchen making a bottle, and Frankie was in the gated area with Jasmine. When I went back to the room, I found Frankie sitting on Jasmine's dog bed with her, sharing her apple! :eek: He had taken a piece too big to chew, so I took it from him, but had to laugh at what he had done.

Cindy - I joined a mothers' club in my area. They arrange playgroups for you. :) We've had one meeting so far and it already looks like some drama may be brewing... blech!

Marlene, just had Abby's 8.5 mo WBV today too. She had that same blood test, but at her doc's office, they just pricked her heel. I gave her a piece of paper to chew on and she didn't even notice anything was going on. Weird how they do it differently.

Her stats...

27.5" (65th%)
17 lbs 13 oz (45th%)
Head = (44cm, I think?) 50th%

Gotta go, she's trying to take my lunch.

Simoney took her first official crawl yesterday. Oy vei. Is my life over now?
hee hee

Anybody else have a baby not *that* interested in BF'ing anymore?
Seems S is only interested at bedtime. I'm a little sad and b/c of it, I'm drying up. I'm thinking of stopping pumping, because really, I'm hardly pumping more than 3-4 oz at a time anyhow and its becoming a huge nuisance and quite a time consuming issue for such little success.
I guess we'll have to switch to formula for her afternoon bottle for now. I'm sorta sad about it.

Hope all are well.

Abby'sMom: Thanks for the info on the blood test. GOOD to know ahead of time.

where is everyone? lol :p

Cindy, yup, Abby's interesting in BFing is definitely waning. I've always had supply problems (blech) but lately she's getting more into the idea of table foods. But she definitely still wants me first thing in the morning. :) Congrats on Simone's first big crawl! She'll be into everything before you know it. Abby is a huge fan of crawling over to the not-yet-baby-proofed entertainment center and chewing on cords. Sigh.

Hi November Moms!!

It is me lisam....now er nurse. Decided to change my name since I am no longer lisam but lisad. Anyhow...I have read the updates and cannot believe how big our babies are getting.

Chianna is crawling and cruising the furniture. She has one tooth (barely) and is on stage 2 foods. She has absolutely no desire to try anything chunky. We are still BF'ing and co-sleeping.

Marlene, I am now afraid to take Chianna to the Drs. I do not want them to poke her over and over. I tend to get over protective and gosh I hope I do not tell them to let me do it myself. UGH!!! I thought we would get one break and no pokes.

It is great to see everyone

:D I FINALLY MADE IT OVER HERE!

Hi ladies! It's me..SEB :-)
I'm such a slacker, but things have been a bit busy and I just never got around to registering...so here I am.

Things are good here. Mia is all over the place - crawling like a madwoman, pulling to a kneel (and as of yesterday standing) and just generally getting into mischief....so fun though. SHe has already pulled a chair down (on top of her face/head- ouch!) and last saturday she crawled right off our bed (while we were BOTH in the room with her) and landed on our hardwood floors. I'm not sure who cried harder- I was a MESS! But she was fine - no bumps or bruises. I miss my baby who would just sit! :-)

She still nurses 5-6 times a day and eats 3 solid meals..about 15-16 ounces of real food a day I would guess- she LOVES food. She now eats yogurt, tofu and bits of whole grain toast along with her finger foods (diced carrot, banana, avocado, peaches, Oatios and veggie puffs) and still eats pleanty of "baby food". No food allergies thus far (YEAH!). We only feed her organic foods, with the exception of Gerber Sweet Potato veggie puffs...I think it was Chicksinger who said these things are like "Baby Crack" and I totally agree. Mia spots the container and goes wild- screeching and flapping her arms like an orangatang!
The crazy thing is she is still a little behind on the weight gain. She will be 8 months, 1 week tomorrow and weighed in yesterday at 16.5 pounds. Owell- she's happy and healthy, so I've stopped stressing.

Glad so many people made it over here! :-)

Hello ladies! What a week I have had. My poor baby has a double ear infection and 4 teeth coming in at once! The doctor told me that by the end of the this week the two bottom teeth will be in and by the end of the next week the two top ones will be in. It has been a bit of a whirl wind at my house. To top it all off, Paul has been sick too. He was home from work both Monday and Tuesday. I feel like super mom. I am not allowed to get sick! There would be no one to take care of my boys! They are both doing pretty good now. Paul is back at work and Jack is his happy normal self. I can see his teeth on the bottom. They haven't quite broke the skin yet but it will be any day now.

Jack now weighs 18lbs 8oz. He is a healthy baby! We tried a new food this week too. Monday for dinner I fed him some peas and carrots. THey were finger food ones. He loves it. He is getting so good and feeding himself. That is way that he wants it too. He would much rather shove a piece of banana in his face instead of mama mushing it up and using a spoon. He is such a big boy.

Craling is going very well. He loves the fact that he can get to things himself. He is a lot less bored but a lot more sneaky. I cannot believe how fast he goes. One minute he is playing happily in the living room the next minute he is playing happily in the dogs water dish! What fun! He follows us around the house now room to room. You only know that he is coming because you can here him breathing. Especially with his stuffy nose. I just love it!

Hiya Lisa and Stacey! I am so happy to see that you both made the switch.

Stacey, Jack does the exact same thing with the "baby crack." He knows that container. Heaven help me if I pull it out of the pantry and not give him any. WHOA!

Lisa - How are you doing? I hope things have gotten better with you DH! It was terrible to sit there while they tried to get blood from Frankie. I went to Kaiser in Gilroy, so hopefully ST Kaiser will be better for you!

Hi Stacey! Good to see ya here! I'm totally with you and Annie about the Gerber puffs. This is bad, but if Frankie is crawling away from me, and I want his attention really fast, I just have to shake the container of puffs and he stops where he is, turns around, and crawls really fast back to me for some puffs. Sometimes he'll stand up holding on to me while opening his mouth for me to put a puff in. I swear he has been watching our dogs :)

Annie - That sucks that both of your guys were sick, especially Jack!! Ear infections are terrible!! And you are super mom!!

Frankie is pulling himself up everywhere now, and even walking a few steps while holding on to something like the couch. This stage is kind of scary. He'll crawl over to anything and start to pull himself up. We made a play area with a baby fence around it, and I'm sure he'll use the fence to try and stand up. It isn't that stable though, and I can imagine it toppling over on him.

He still is picky about what he eats. He likes the baby yogurt and LOVEs the puffs!! But he's not too interested in any of the baby foods. We have been giving him table food when we're having dinner, and he's usually really into that. So I think he just doesn't like the jar baby food.

Am I doing something wrong????? :confused:

Chianna absolutley has no desire to eat anything but jarred baby food. I have offered pasta, Cheerios and rice. She picks it up, looks at it and then throws it on the floor. The dog is happy :) Any suggestions?

Lisa-
We just offer Mia finger foods at every meal BEFORE we give her the jarred stuff. It took a while, and at first I actually put the pieces in her mouth one at a time...once she got the hang of it though, she was good to go. Now she is WAY into anything she can feed herself!
A friend of mine has a baby who is 9 1/2 months and he too has no interest and actually gags on a lot of foods that arn't mashed. Her ped said just wait it out and keep introducing things little by little. Breast milk/Formula has all the nutrients they need for the 1st year anyway :-).
And try the Gerber puffs...I bet she'll be hooked in no time! :-)
Good Luck!

OH my goodness, Mia is a doll baby. How cute! I love the barretts.

Lisa we did the same thing with Jack that Stacey did with Mia. I would wait it out. Keep offering food to her. I am sure that eventually she will find something that she really likes and then she will be constantly wanted to try new foods herself. And you have one lucky pooch! :)

Stacey: Mia is GORGEOUS! I'm jealous of her hair. So far, Simone is still lacking in that department. Cant wait until we can put a barette in also!
I think if it weren't for her earrings, people would be asking about "him" too. ;)

Lisa: Welcome back! Hey, at least she likes the jarred food! S wouldnt even touch it except for the fruit.

re: eating:
Simone LOVES to feed herself. She actually prefers it and has now begun grabbing the spoon if I try to feed her myself. So, the last few days feeding time has been REEEEEEEEEALY long. lol

Yep, she is addicted to the pre-mentioned "baby crack" and now to Cheerios and graham crackers.

Anybody else have a baby who LOVES to eat paper? I swear, I can have 10 toys in front of her and she'll see the tiniest of papers over in the corner...next thing I know she's crawled over there and is eating it up.

Good to see everybody back!

Paper is a specialty in my household apparently. Jack loves to get ahold of mommy's magazines and eat them all up. I have to put them away in order for him to not find them. OH and the sunday paper. I have to read the paper at the dining room table now. He has go-go gadget arms! I sware they get longer the harder he reaches for something.

Jack's first tooth finally popped through yesterday. Too cute. Tooth #2 is about to pop through. I will give it a couple of days. I will certainly miss though gummy smiles of his.

Hello everyone

Chianna is eating Cheerios now!! I just kept offering and showing her what to do and then she started eating them. I am so happy!! I was hoping she would start on them before our long drive to Lake Tahoe in a week. Cheerios are easier to pop in her mouth then a boob while you are driving :)

Mia is absolutely gorgeous and THANK YOU so much for the advice. I am yet to go and buy the Gerber Puffs....

Hi Annie....thanks for popping in to say hello. Yes...Kayla is now circling the table while the baby eats. I will have a fat dog in no time.

Mia is too cute. I love her eyes!

Paper Caden is a paper magnet too. I don't care how many toys he have to play with he always make a b-line for paper.

He will eat everything in sight but recently, he has started to hate his gerber puffs. He spit them out everytime. I just bought him the sweet potatoes one yesterday to see if that will make a difference.

We have recently started him on some soft table foods. So far just mashed potates and sweet potatoes. My mom told me he had a whole sweet potato plus one of the containers of banannas for lunch. I just love that little piggy!

Trying the "Quick Reply" function for the first time.
Geez, w/ no notifications, I easily get too busy and distracted to remember to come here--and look at all I have missed! Welcome to all who've made it over here. (This is AJ/AJ7, in case you couldn't figure it out. ;) )
X turned 8 months old yesterday, and he is having a hard week b/c, like Annie's Jack, X has four teeth coming in at once. (Teeth #5-8 for X.) He's still working on the walking deal, lacks the balance. My MIL is sure he'll walk in the next month b/c she says DH walked at 9 months. Um, we'll see. He does work at crawling, cruising, and getting up and down all day. His feet and hands are mammoth, and should help the walking enterprise. I also wonder if, like puppies, this presages a big growth spurt.
We're remodeling our bathroom w/ a one-man do-it-all contractor, so X cannot nap well w/ the noise. But it did mean an Ikea trip Wed night:

He eats two bowls of organic, dairy-free, soy-free* cereal (Healthy Times--love that brand, wish we got the full line here; X chomps on the maple-flavored teething biscuits, the only dairy-free ones I've found). The cereal is mixed w/ either organic fruits or veggies, all Official Baby Food. But this week he wants to try everything we eat. He adores dill pickles, is warming up to avocados if he sees me eating them, and likes pasta sauce but not the pasta. I cheated and gave him a little frozen yogurt today as practice for when I really cheat next Sunday in Michigan on my birthday and give him ice cream. ;) (So excited for him to finally meet great-grandma, who was in Fla. all winter.)
Obviously, we need to try these Gerber puffs when we get to MI! X loves paper, too, and I could use a way to distract him from it. Anyone have troubles w/ choking, though? Whenever he eats anything that isn't mashed, he chokes a bit. Same w/ the sippy cup, when I give him water.
Man, he still thinks the boob is tops. B/c we spend 3 days/week on campus, I have let him get into the habit of nursing to sleep, which is good in that it works, but bad for every other reason.

Don't worry abt babies who resist eating. They don't need the food now, and it'll come. You won't have a five yr old who still sucks back toddler formula. A woman in my moms' group has a girl who won't eat anything at all, and her ped says just try once a day and then forget abt it, so it doesn't become a power struggle or some other Big Deal.

*We're still on the TRIGR.org study's anti-Type I baby diet, so no dairy, soy, or meat for the first nine months. Dairy is the one where my temptation is greatest, cuz it's summer and ice cream is good. :p

I have searched this site and can not find a December 2004 mommies thread. November 2004 moms is the closest I could find. Hoping I can join this group as it is only a month difference??

mak of course you can join! We love to hear from new mommies.

doing the worm across the floor is more like it.

Jack was doing this for awhile. Just in the last couple of weeks he has learned to keep his hands and knees underneath him. But before there was a lot of belly flops.

AJ you can get notifications if you want to. There is a button at the top of the thread that allows you to subscribe to the thread. It will then send you an email when somebody responds. Jack sometimes chokes on water/juice from the sippy. I am just wondering if it is because he is not used to it?

Hey Sara! So happy to see you here. Too funny to hear about the remote control. Jack has been throwing a fit lately because I will not let him play with the tv remote. I did find one yesterday that was from an old VCR but of course he doesn't want that one he wants the one that works! And we are still trying to hide all of the electrical cords in the house. They are like a Jack magnet.

Posting Pictures
In order to post pictures on these boards, the pictures must be online. For personal photos, they need to be in an online album such as Snapfish or Shutterfly.

1)Once you have your photos uploaded, open the picture you want to post.
2)Right click on the picture (the full-sized picture, not the thumbnail) and click “Properties.” (On a Mac, CTRL-click or click-and-hold.)
3)Right click on the URL and click “Select All.” This ensures you get the entire URL. Some URLs are longer than show up in the properties box.
4)Right click on the selected URL and hit “Copy.”
5)Come back to your post and a) click the little icon that looks like a mountain and paste your URL into the box that pops up or b) paste the url into the message and place [*IMG] at the very beginning and [*IMG] at the very end. (Minus the * though)
6)Submit your post.

*A note for those who also use LJ-If you are looking for a hosting site that is compatable with both CC and LJ, try www.flickr.com or www.photbucket.com.

I hope that this helps mak. I stole from the FAQ board since I have the hardest time explaining these kinda technical thingys. :p

Just back from vacation! I'm trying to get caught up on the thread, you ladies were very busy while I was gone :D

Our trip was fantastic, we absolutely love Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The weather was perfect the whole week, a little hot, but hey, I'm not going to complain, it rained in PEI the whole week before we arrived. Grady was a champ on the plane, he entertained everyone around us. He took my mind off flying (poor DH has the nail marks in his hand to prove how scared I am during takeoff), and made the flight alot more bareable. The beach house we stayed in was right near the ocean, but it was pretty rocky to get down to the beach, so we only went down a handful of times. I have to say, PEI is probably one of the most relaxing, beautiful places we have ever visted.

We met up with Joelle (Duke's Flygirl), her DH and Ryleigh at their home on Monday. Ryleigh is just the cutest little girl, so happy and good natured. We really enjoyed meeting them!

Funny little story about Grady and Ryleigh meeting. What a little piggy Grady was! Joelle gave Ryleigh and Grady some wagon wheels to try and of course Grady shoved the whole thing in his mouth right away. :rolleyes: . Ryleigh was very lady-like and nibbled on her wagon wheel for a bit before Grady snatched it out of her hand and shoved it in his mouth before we could stop him! What can I say, he loves his food. :D

[COLOR=Purple]Hello everyone! Still trying to get used to this site/thread. I've completely stopped going to WC to even play around over there. Booo WC!

Kyle pulled up to a standing position today, he's never done that! He stood for a couple minutes and then plopped back down and hasn't done it since. He still doesn't know how to get back into a sitting position once he lays down though.

We are leaving in ONE WEEK to go to Maui!!!! I am excited but very anxious to bring both of the kids. Wondering if I should bring our regular stroller or just buy a cheapo umbrella one? Sarah: Kyle is SO adorable! Have fun in Maui.
FWIW, you might think about taking some food along with you. Prices in Hawaii are EXPENSIVE!!!

Update on us:
We've been so busy lately and have been gone from home almost every day/ all day when I'm not working. Poor S is longing to spend time at home I think. We got home from a baby shower last night at 6pm and she was SO pooped but loved being home and playing with her toys.

She is now crawling all over the place. Has discovered the dog's food and water dishes and seems to love putting dog food in her mouth. Oy vei.
She also cruises around the furniture like crazy now and has stood w/o holding onto anything for a few seconds (like 2-3) at a time. She is fine until she notices it, then down she goes. :)

I cant believe how fast she is growing. Seems she learns something new everyday. Her newest thing is giving kisses. I still cant believe she is old enough to know how to do it!
We taught her in spanish "Da me un beso" (which means give me a kiss) and she now leans foward and puts her open mouth against my cheek for a little kiss. Its SO cute!!
And, she waves like crazy. NEW fun thing for her to do.

Well, I must get back to work. Hope you are all well.

He is in the percentile for height :eek: I am now starting to worry about my poor baby. He not a thing baby by any stretch of the imagination and he eats like a grown man. I can't even imaging a way to get more food into him because he eats like crazy. I'm hoping that he is okay and is just going to be thin like his dad.

The doctor didn't seem to be worried about his weight but at his sixth month appointment, he made me feel like I was doing something wrong. He was in the 25 percentile then.

CMW02 Caden is cruising all over the place and is starting to stand along for a few seconds too.

Still no teeth! Is Caden the only baby still without teeth?

Kate & Joelle- GREAT pictures!

Sara- Kyle is starting to look such a little boy! He's adorable! I am oozing with Jealousy over your Maui trip. We went in April, when Mia was 4.5 months ans it was wonderful! We brought baby food (mostly becuase we only give her organic, and I didn't know how hard that would be to find) and her reclining stroller so that she could nap by the pool. She was a trooper and loved every minute of it...I'm sure Kyle will too!

Mty Sheera- YES! now that Mia has 4 teeth she is totally grinding them and it drives me nuts! Not sure how to stop it- I just offer her a toy to chew on instead.

Cindy- Mia and Simone seem to be on the same developmental track...Mia is also cruising, giving kisses, waving and eating dog food

Paula Mia is little like Caden. Havn't had her 9 month appt (2 more weeks), so I don't know her height, but according to our home scale she is only 16 .5 pounds. She's nice and round and developing (motor skills) beautifully, so I try not to worry. Like Caden, she eats like an adult. I swear she and I eat the same amount for breakfast! She usually eats a full bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit, half a bananna and 1/4 piece of whole grain toast! This kid can eat!

Annielynn-I toatlly stole your idea and downloaded my Mia videos to that same website! I just have to download the current ones and I will post a link.

April1234 SOrry I never answered your question! I got those barrets at a local boutique here...no idea who makes them! I have seen them at several LA baby boutiques though- so maybe an "upscale" baby store in your area would have them?

SO yes, my baby is GROWING UP TOO FAST!!!! I am proud of her, but so nostalgic for my itty bitty newborn! She is pulling up to stand, cruising and now letting go for several seconds before falling on her bum. SHe is THRILLED with herself too. Her big cousins are in town (ages 5, 3, and 18 months) and I swear she is trying to emmulate them. It's pretty cute and they are great with her. We are all going to Disneyland on Thursday (am I CRAZY???).

More babies?- I had wanted to start trying again in August, and have them somewhere between 18-24 months apart, but after seeing my sister's kids (3 in 5 years) I have totally changed my mind. ;) She is an AMAZING monther and the girls are total sweethearts, but MAN it's a LOT of work!!! SO, I think we will wait and try this Winter sometime. Just a few months seems to make a big difference at that age. Also, DH won a trip through his company- We get an all expense paid vacation to Paradise Island in the Bahamas next May...so we HAVE to wait a few more months so that I can go! A september/Oct/Nov 2006 baby sounds good. We'll see what happens ;)

MAK-Mimi is too cute! Welcome! :)
AJ- I love the Healthy Times brand too...we give her the teething biscuts, some of the jarred cereal/fruit combos and the Apple Cinnamon Teddy Puffs, which I think taste like cardboard, but Mia seems to like OK.
Ouch! 4 teeth at once? I though 2 were bad...I don't envy you, but I'm sure by now you're through the worst. Mia is a HORRIBLE sleeper when she is teething.

Kate and Joelle, the kids look so great together. :)

Stacey, Mia looks wonderful. Try not to worry!
Yes, X seems to be doing much better w/ teething pain, but it was still pretty hard to see him smile one day, and his gum was bleeding a little--ow!
Yeah, I told my local "granola" store abt Healthy Times, since they only carry the cereal and teething biscuits. Hopefully they'll add some more items.

Sara, enjoy the trip!

We returned from MI last night, and we had a great time. One great thing is the amazing array of baby-food options we simply don't have in Ontario. Specifically, GERBER, a wonderful MI-based corporation that employs a friend of mine. ;) I bought a dozen of the Gerber Stage Two jars of organic baby food that include so many diff fruit and veggie combos. In just a few weeks, we'll be able to try the jars that include chicken and turkey. (I can't believe he'll finally be nine months.)
But, thanks to you guys, we also bought all the varieties of the finger foods, aka "baby crack," for X and to share tomorrow w/ my moms' group. X is crazy for them, and after two servings, recognized the containers enough to throw a mini fit in Target when I was picking up some more and didn't open a box for him right then and there. :eek: Crazy, yo.

My class ended today. Now just a giant assignment due Monday, and then a final at 8:30am on the following Monday.

Pulling us off the second page! I guess this means that the Nov. Mommies are having a busy summer ;)

We are busy these days! I'm looking for a new job and Grady is crawling around the house like crazy. I had a written test today for a position that I applied for last week. Well, make that the only position I applied for! I'm really hoping that I'll get this job, it's at DH's company (where I used to work as well) and that would be so convenient. We wouldn't have to buy a second car, I'd always have someone to go to lunch with :D , and I could take advantage of DH's underground parking. Things look promising but they are really making me jump through hoops for this job. I'm most likely going to have a to write a technical test and if I do well on that test, then I get to the interview stage!

I'm trying really hard not to think about leaving Grady in daycare. It's inevitable, but I get so upset thinking about it. I bawled the whole week I got home from vacation, reality set in and I realized that I had to start looking for a job, and daycare for Grady. Speaking of daycare, we just found out that our fall back place for daycare isn't going to take anymore children. :eek: I'm hoping we can find something with just a few weeks notice.

Grady is just going, going, going. My gosh he tires himself out (and me too most days!). He's started to nap for two hours in the morning and up to two hours in the afternoon! I'm hoping this is normal, but it seems like a lot. Are any other babies sleeping a lot now that they are crawling?

Grady’s new thing this week is waving. If we tell him to, ‘say bye-bye’, he’ll wave up a storm. The other day I caught him waving to himself in the mirror we have set up for him in the car. What a little ham. Can you believe he’s almost 1? I have to start planning a birthday party soon! DH and I have been working on a slide show of his first year that we want to show at his birthday party. Gosh I can hardly get through it without bawling and I’ve watched it so many times.

I should head off to bed now!

Aw, Kate, I feel for you. Fingers crossed for the job and for some daycare! {hugs}
Mine seems to have fallen through, since the student never got back to me when I emailed her to offer her the job!!! Think she found something else, w/ more hours? I only need about seven hours, and can't even really afford that if I pay students the same $9-11/hour they would make on campus.)
I might end up doing unintended "distance ed," which is not good for my style of learning or my temperament, which needs 1-4 hours of baby-free time/day to not go insane since X and I are attached at the hip the rest of the day.
But it would be hard to face anything more than that away from him, if only b/c I spend any time I'm away (but not in class) thinking abt him!
Nope, can't believe how old they are. Have kind of lost track of how many weeks old X is now.

Baby #2: Think abt him/her a lot, and bought a name book that offers suggestions for siblings' names (among other things)! Like, since I have a Xavier, I might consider Ivy or Elias, according to The Baby Name Wizard (http://www.babynamewizard.com/) Lots of fun. Grady might like a Lillie or Ellis, while Mia might prefer an Ava or Aidan, Simone a Camille or Andre. And so on. Lots of fun.

Classes are over; final exam is next Monday.

Jack had his 9 months appointment yesterday. He did really well considering all the stuff that they did to him. :(

He weighs 19lbs 12oz (40%)
He is 28.5" long (50%)
and he has a small noggin at only the 10%

They checked his iron level and it is 11, which they said was good. And he got one shot. He only whined for the shot and the blood work. No real tears from him. I can certainly see the stranger anxiety coming out in him though. He never really had a problem around the doctor and his nurse. But yesterday he didn't want to have anything to do with them!

Jack just started with a new private daycare. So far so good. I really like this women. I think that it is going to be great for jack's development to be around the other kids too. Today is the third day that he has gone, and the third day that he has cried when I left. It is heartbreaking but I will survive. I miss him so much during the day. I just count down the hours and minutes until I get to go home and pick him up.

Still crawling like a champ. Now he is pulling himself up pretty good and trying to stand on his own for short periods of time. I am not ready for him to walk. I repeat! I am NOT ready for him to walk. I am just getting used to the crawling thing! ;)

I hope that everyone else is doing well.

Kate jack is the same way with the naps. Since he has become mobile he takes a 2 hour nap in the morning and a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. Their are no fights for him to take naps either. Most times all I have to do is lay him down in his crib and he out within seconds. Wow it is hard to believe that he is almost one. My goodness how time flies!!

AJ Good luck on your finals!

Kate: I totally hear you on the daycare thing! I really hope that it works out for you! I have those pictures to send you, and I will do that next promise! Keeping my fingers crossed for the job!

AJ: Good luck on your finals!

Annie: I am dreading hearing Ryleigh cry when I leave! Be strong Momma! Our Daycare provider told me this is normal, and it should pass by at most 2 weeks!

Great Stats for Jack!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ryleigh will be going for her 9 month appointment on the 22nd, so a little late, but that is what they had when we were there 3 months ago!
She is crawling all over the place, and pulling up on anything and everything, and walking around it.
We got a new addition to our family over the weekend when we went to the IL's. Bruin is a 3 month old kitten, and the other 2 cats are adjusting to her being here. They don't particularly like it, but they are dealing! She was a gift from my BIL for Ryleigh! Oh well, she is a cutie, and very playful. She is liking playing with Ryleigh's rollarounds! It is funny to watch.
We had a very busy month of July, and I am liking the slower pace August is taking.
I am also really liking the fact that we have 2 vehicles now, and I don't have to worry about Denis finding a ride to work when I need the car. He is liking having his truck too!
Other than that, we are enjoying the warm weather, it has been very hot a few days, but I know that it won't be around long.
I am not looking forward to going back to work, let alone leaving Ryleigh at Daycare. I really like our provider, and the other kids there will be great for Ryleigh. We are going to start easing into it in September. I will start by leaving her for an hour, and then come back to get her, and then gradually work our way up. I think that is what we both will need. I am sure that the first time I drop her off, I will just go and park the car and cry for an hour! It will be very weird for me to be without her.
I hope everyone is doing well! Take Care!
Do we have anyone who is expecting #2 already? There are 2 ladies who had babies in Feb 05, and are already expecting #2! We are starting to talk about when to start trying again.
Annie- Jack's stats are looking good! :) Oy- if 19.12 pounds is only the 40%, I wonder what % Mia will be in at just under 17 pounds at her apt. on Monday? :confused: Owell..trying not to worry!
AJ- I went out yesterday and picked up that book...I was intrigued! It's a good one! Now I only own 7 baby name books :p Not wanting baby #2 quite yet, but I love names and I think it will be even harder this time, trying to get a good match for Mia!
Kates- Yup, Mia also takes a 2.5 hour nap in the AM. It has really only been the last 3 weeks or so- once she started crawling and pulling up on everything. I think she just wears herself out! Good luck with the job search!
ETA:Joelle-I guess I cross posted with you! We are also starting to look at daycare for Mia :( . We have a student that comes to our house once/week right now, and my mom has Mia another day and half, but I'm looking at daycare starting in January. I think Mia will really enjoy the social stimulation and our babysitter will be traveling abroad for the semester...congrats on the 2nd car!
Stacey: We cross posted! There is a totally different chart for Boys and Girls! I am sure that Mia will be fine! She is a healthy girl!
Napping! I forgot to post this...Ryleigh is still nap fighter, but the last couple of days she has been having a good 2 hour nap in the am and then maybe a 1 hour in the pm. But she never was much of a sleeper.
Oh yeah...she still has no teeth! That is alright with me though. I was a late teether, as was my sister, and my SIL told me that all 3 of her kids were late too. So it runs in the family!
I think I have babbled long enough...time for lunch!
Hi all! Good to see everyone checking in!!
Kates: you've got quite the handsome little man!
And dont feel bad, I often get teary eyed just thinking about my baby not being a baby anymore! ;)
What a fun idea for that video on his b-day!!
AJ: Wow! That sounds like a neat book..I think I'll have to pick that one up..but like Stacey, we're just not ready for number 2 yet. We are thinking of trying again next spring. We'll see though.
Joelle: I'd say you were very busy in July! Glad to hear Aug is more relaxed for you. I hope the day care works out. I know how hard it is...thats why S still isn't in DC. I cant bring myself to do it!!! AAGh, its tough.
Annie: Jack is such a cutie. Nice and strong too. Sorry about the appt. S goes on Tues. Hopefully she'll be a trooper like Jack was.
-------
Napping: Yep, another 2 hour napper here now too.
She typically goes down for 1 hr in the AM and lately again in the afternoon for 2-2.5 hrs!
Yesterday she woke up after only 1 hour, so I layed down with her for a bit, and wouldn't ya know it, we both crashed out for ANOTHER 2 hours!! I guess her crawling and moving has us both tired out! lol
She is sooooooooooo much fun now. We are having the best summer.
Anyone else super glad we had winter babies? I know I am!! I love that she is old enough to enjoy swimming, swinging, going to the park etc. We are definitely going to plan on another winter baby if possible.
Well, it's a techincal test followed by an interview with the hiring manager and HR, followed by an interview with the Director of the group I'd be working in. That's 3 hours of testing and interviews, holy cow!
Thanks for all the compliments on Mimi- We think she is quite the beauty too!!
We just got back from vacation at Cape Cod. Had a great time and Mimi is definitely going to be a swimmer- she loves the water! We went with friends and they have a girl about a month older than Mimi- it was so fun to see them "play" with each other. Although I have realized Mimi has no real desire to move anywhere yet- she would rather sit and eat her toys and babble at them- She is a talker- she babbles almost all day long! She can definitely get around but she is completely content sitting and playing.
We too feed her everything organic besides the Gerber Puffs. I have also given her Oatios, which she loves, although sometimes gags on them if she can not gum them enough since she is still my toothless wonder! I did not get a tooth until I was almost a year and I think she might be following in my footsteps.
We are going to start trying for #2 sometime this fall. I would ideally like to get pregnant in the next couple of months. There are times I am so nervous and for it and others totally ready. For the most part, it is hard to imagine Mimi as not being my only baby. Time is flying by too fast!
Question- I noticed some of you give toast to your babies- when did you start and what kind. I bought oat wheat bread yesterday and then noticed it had honey in the ingredients and I thought no honey for babies?? Also do you all still follow the 4 day rule in introducing foods- even teething biscuits??
Adorable pictures of Simone, Mia, and Jack!!!
Mak- We give Mia "Milton's Healthy Grain Wheat Bread". It also has a bit of honey, but it's like the 7th ingrediant, so I don't think it's enough to harm her. I hope not anyway...she's been eating it almost daily for about a month! ;) YOu might ask your ped. if you are worried. I no longer follow the 4 day rule, simply b/c Mia hasn't shown a reaction to anything yet...and I'm lazy ;)
Glad you had fun at the Cape!
Cute pics of Jack, Annie!
yep...just a tiny bit of organic butter to soften the bread a bit...I know dairy is supposed to be out until 1 year as well, but again it's a minimal amt and she hasn't had any negative reactions...
Hello ladies - We are back from Maui and we had a blast. Definitely the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. We took 2 hour naps and slept 11-12 hours a night -ha ha! We had to though - otherwise it would have been a nightmare for Kyle. Definitely a lowkey relaxing vacation.
After reading about some of you ladies and the foods - Kyle is just not interested. If it has texture or anything he won't eat it, he pushes it away or plays with it. He'll be 10 months on the 25th - shouldn't he be doing more with food at this point than stage 2/3 baby food? We are still nursing about 4 times a day but he's eating 4 ounces of cereal, 4 of a dinner, 4 of fruit, 4 of veggie and then another 4 of a dessert. Any suggestions for getting him to try more things? He still is ALL gums - no teeth yet, pretty crazy.
Aww, the kids all look great!
Stacey, how are you doing w/ no dairy for Mia? Until he is 9 months on the 21st, we've been on that prevent-Type-I-diabetes diet w/ no soy, no dairy, and no meat or eggs, but it is so hard! And we've slipped by giving him nibbles of things, too. Almost everything has whey, soy lecithin, cheese, chicken broth, or something in it. What's the theory behind no dairy until age 1? I thought abt trying him on yogurt and cheese before moving to jarred organic baby food w/ meats, but maybe not? Or is it just dairy, not meat, you're avoiding?
Sara, we slept a lot on our vacay, too. Nice. I know a mom of a little 10 month old girl who won't eat any solids at all. Her mom tries 2x/day for three months now, but no dice. Her ped says there's no reason to force or rush. K is doing fine. He'll get there when he wants to!
Mak, we use the margarine w/ olive oil and omega fats here, instead of dairy butter, so that's what is on my bread, which X begs for and gets bites of.
Anyone else have a kid who wants whatever you're having? His begging and grunting is worse than the cats!
While we were in MI, I tried to get a good picture of X in a onesie to honor my dad while we were in our hotel bed, and this is the series I got:
Am I (too) paranoid? We own one of 47 townhomes in our little development, and a 50-something yr old man who lives in one of the units approached another mom and me today as we were talking to ask if he could try out his new camera lens by taking photos of our kids. I said OK, but I didn't know whether to be creeped out or worried abt what this guy would do w/ the photos, esp after the diaper-list incident. What would you have done? I recognized the guy from walking by him in the parking lot, him walking by our end unit, etc., but I don't *know* him. I felt like a body-guard for a star, wanting to tell the paprazzo to back off!
Anyone have any experience w/ or knowledge of charting while BFing? I can't tell if I am O-ing or not. My luteal phase is very predictable, and my cycles are regular and the same length as before the pregnancy that brought me my DS, but the first half of my chart is insane ups and downs w/o pattern. Typical?
AJ-hmmm...not sure how paranoid I would be in that situation. MOst likely he really does want to just try out the new lens, but you never know...ya know? I don't chart, so I can't help you there...
We give Mia organic, whole plain yogurt and yogurt cheese, but no other dairy- supposedly they don't digest it well until 12 months.
Sarah and AJ: What CUTIES you both have!! I love those pictures.
Ah, dairy. So far, it seems we have dairy allergies w/ Simone. AGH!
She can't even have the slightest BIT of dairy---cheese, milk, yogurt, or anything that HAS dairy in it, because she will immediately break out around her mouth with little red hives.
Its a bummer not to be able to give her cheese or cottage cheese, because I'm sure she would love it.
We've been exclusively BF'ing since birth. She only had formula for a few days in the hosp. But now, since I'm having EBM issues, I am thinking of supplimenting w/ formula.
BUT, w/ her allergies to milk products, I'm leary. I recall a few months ago I gave her some formula to try..and yep, she broke out. But at the time I thought it was because the EXP date was passed by about 2 weeks, so I immediately thru it out. Now I wonder if it was an allergy? Do you think she'd be allergic to SOY products too? Any insights? We see her PED on Tues, so I'll be asking my many questions there too.
Anyhow..thats my dairy story. LOL
Oh and AJ, yes she DOES want to eat everything that we eat. Sometimes she'll see us eating and lunge for our plates. Its funny, but makes me worry that she is either not getting enough of her own food, or that she's a little piggy! LOL. J/K on the piggy comment. Its funny though. She loves to eat!! :D
Stacey, thanks for making me feel not so cynical. ;)
Hmm, I might hold off on the major dairy, but maybe just give him the Gerber puffs and biscuits that have milk powders in them and see how it goes. My BM should be enough "dairy" for him for a while longer!
I forgot to say LOL on all the baby-name books! I've been trying out names and checking for astrological match-ups and everything for baby #2 but winning the lottery and actually TTCing. ;)
Cindy, that must be so tough w/ the hives! I never did the waits between foods b/c I just didn't think it would be an issue considering our medical histories, but, for me, the peanut allergy would be so bad to live with that I am holding off on them. But X would love some, I'm sure! Ultimately, I think it will be good for them to be interested and ready to try new stuff.
AJ- SO WEIRD...we went to a concert in the park on Sunday and I look to the right of us to see this guy with a HUGE lens snapping away...pictures of Mia! He saw me glaring at him a few moments later, and came up and gave me his email address and said he'd be happy to email a BUNCH of the pictures he took...said he got some great ones! WTF???? I was totally weirded out until our friends started talking to him (they happen to be baby photographers) and we realized that he seemed harmless and was again "Just trying out the new lens". :rolleyes: Owell...I guess it's fine...what a coincidence though after your story?!
Anyway, Here's what I posted in the 6-12 month thread (can't remember how much of this I already posted over here (sorry if it's a repeat):
We had Mia's well baby visit yesterday- 17.1 pounds, 27" long. About the 25% for both, but she's doing great, so I no longer worry about her being on the small side.
Mia is crawling like a mad woman, pulling up and cruising wherever and whenever she can. She just started climbing stairs last week and it is by far her favorite activity of the moment. She's a big eater- usually a half banana and half piece of organic, whole grain toast or oatmeal for breakfast, some diced fruit and veggie puffs or "Oatios" for snack, 4 ounces of yogurt and 4 ounces of fruit or veggies for lunch (jarred stuff), and 6-8 ounces of veggies and tofu or veggies and rice cereal for dinner. I'm also breast feeding about 5 times a day, though I plan to start weaning around 10 months and be done with BF by the time she is 12-13 months. We'd like to start TTC #2 sometime after Mia's first B-day (November), and because I am a recurrent miscarrier, my doc doesn't want me nursing during the first trimester. Anyway...fun to hear what all of the babies are doing these days! I am loving this stage, though I can't help but miss my little infant! :)
Stacey, weird is right. I think we're all hypervigilant moms. I try to remind myself that there are *that* many sickos, right?
Then I remember when this 9 yr old girl disappeared in Toronto, and the police found that there were 200 convicted sex offenders living within a two-mile radius of her house. :(
Great on the 9-month stats! X goes in for his Thurs morning. Mia is doing great.
I actually popped in b/c this is the only place where I can speak of how I plan on TTC-ing in 14 months from today. Which means I need to get back on the Project: Healthy Baby diet and exercise program. Or at least the diet, cuz I don't think I'll get two hours per day for a workout ever again this decade.
I've been charting, b/c I'm curious abt what's happening, but I think BFing is making the charts look weird, despite AF being super regular. Not sure if I'm ovulating? Pre-O (the estimated time anyway) the temps are wild and everywhere. Then there's a one-day dip that FF never acknowledges, and then a rise that mainly stays up until AF appears w/ a crash in temps.
Here's some early ~*~Baby Dust~*~ and sticky vibes for Stacey and anyone else revving up.
Love the new pictures of Mia. What a cutie!
So being the worrisome mommy that I am. I have already been on the phone this morning with the triage desk at the Ped's office. One of the 15 months old at the daycare that Jack goes to is in the hospital with the croop. I am just worried now that Jack is going to get it. Monday and tuesday he had a fever but that was because of his teeth (I hope.) So far there are no signs of croop. I just dont know what to do. DO I take him to the doctor now? Or do I wait a couple of days to see if he has any signs of it? I just don't know!!
Love the new pictures of the babies in here! I can't believe that our little ones are so big! X is a cutie, Mia is a Beauty, Kyle is just adorable! Sorry if I missed some!
Annie: Sorry to hear about the croup in your daycare, no advise for you. Just hugs!!!
Stacey: I totally hear you on missing my little infant! She is getting SO independant! I'm with you on starting to TTC again around Ryleigh's first birthday.
DH and I were talking, and we want the kids to be close in age, and he is now 36, and I will be 31 next month. So when I go back to work, the plan now is to start TTC then! I'm excited, nervous, and I think I have lost my marbles all at the same time. It is good to know that I am not alone on this one!
I think I have to start weaning Ryleigh around 12 months too, as when I go back to work, I won't have anywhere private to pump, nor will I be guaranteed what time I will be home at night, so I can't be sure that she will be able to nurse before bed. My job when I go back is more of a shift thing, than your normal 9-5. Being military makes things difficult in the nursing department. Oh well, my goal is still to nurse to 1 year.
Ryleigh is eating solids now very well, she loves just about everything that we have given her. We do jarred food, and she just loves it. She is eating Breakfast and Supper, and we are soon going to add Dinner/Lunch into the mix.
We have our 9 month pictures tomorrow, and then her 9 month check up on Monday. (I know a little late, but that is all they had when we booked it 3 months ago! )
Here is a picture of our first fat lip! It happened about 2 weeks ago, and was gone the next day, I think I cried more than her!
I'll post the 9 month pics when I get them!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Stacey: Darling pics of Mia! I love that little chair. SO cute!!
Joelle: Ryleigh has the most beautiful eyes!
Annie: Yikes. I hope Jack is okay!!
How exciting for all of you who are thinking/reving up to TTC again. BRAVE SOULS! I want to..but I'm afraid. LOL ;P
We had Simone's 9 month W.B. check up yesterday. She is so big!!!
She is 30.5 inches and 21.14 pounds!
Remains off the charts for height, but is now proudly back onto the weight chart at 90%. YAY! :)
DR said she is so healthy and looks to be doing just perfectly...predicts will walk at or before 12months and grow up to be long and lean. She really is long and lean already!
S received her 3rd Hep B shot and that was it. No need for Iron test due to things looking just fine/size/look etc. So that was nice. I was nervious for a blood draw..but luckily none.
But, last night poor Simone was sooooooooooo miserable. I think the shot was the culprit. Normally, she gets 2-3 shots and they never affect her, but this time she was hurting! My poor baby couldnt get herself to sleep and was just not happy. I dont know who was worse though, me or baby!
I gave her a double (dr apprvd) dose of tylenol which did seem to help.
She's home w/ MIL today and is doing fine...which is such a relief!
Hope you are all doing well!
I've been semi-lurking in the Nov04 babies thread for a while, and thought I should try to join now. My stats:
Lobeth
Me: Lori (33)
DH: J (33)
Married: October 11, 2003
TTC: 10/11/2003
EDD: 11/20/2004
Tori, 7lb 13oz, 19.5in 11/13/04
EDD #2: 1/14/06
Now that that is out of the way, I wanted to say to CMW02, that her child may have a Milk Soy Protein Intolerance, which is what Tori has. She cannot have anything containing dairy or soy, which limits her food choices. I was told that she should grow out of it by the time she is one. If not, I can continue the formula, or switch her to rice milk. Babycenter has a really good allergy board that has been helpful to me. For now, I've been keeping Tori away from the "big 8" food allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, or soybeans) except for wheat. Apparently the longer she stays away from these foods, she's more likely to build up a stronger to tolerance for them, and not be allergic to them.
Tori had her 9 month check-up yesterday and her stats are:
Weight: 23.5lbs
Height: 29 3/4 in
Head: 18.5in
She is just over the 90th percentile.
She was given the paperwork for a lead screening and anemia (sp?) screen.
The ped did not seem concerned about her size, he said that the most imortant thing is that her growth is consistant, and she is not suddenly putting on weight.
I saw that some of you were talking about TTC number 2. As you can see, we kind of jumped the gun and are expecting #2 in January. They will be just under 14 month apart. This was not planned and it took some getting used to, but now we are very excited that Tori will have a built in playmate!
Welcome, Lori, and congrats on #2.
We just established for sure our Sept child-care routine w/ a mom who is an acquaintance of ours, used to run a daycare, and has two girls, 6 and 5, and a boy who turns 3 next week. The girls are 20 months apart and share a room, and their mom says they talk to each other every night and she thinks they will be great friends who will have each other after she and her husband are gone.
Cindy, good for Simone. I hope X pairs up w/ a nice tall girl like her instead of some shorty who could date a 5'7" man. :p
X had his 9-month WBV. Stats:
Weight = 10.08kg, 22.18lbs
Height = 77cm, 30.34"
Head = 48.5cm, 19.11"
Doc says everything is good. He thinks of BM as nutrition and solids as "play" food to practice for a still-distant weaning, so he doesn't care what amt of solids X eats. (He eats twice per day, and whatever he can beg off of us.) He also encourages me to BF past a year, even if just at morning and night, which I think I might try.
No more visits until 11/24!
Welcome Lori and thanks for the info on milk/soy intolerance.
I mentioned the dairy issue to DD's ped and yet Dr. advised to switch to SOY, which I thought could also be an issue?
MIL says DH had milk intolerance also, but when switched to soy, he did just fine. So, I think we'll try Soy and see how it goes. If not, then none whatsoever.
For now, with exception of fish and some wheat bread, we have avoided those foods you listed above. And really, Simone has only had a few meals (2) of fish and only limited wheat bread. So, hopefully our little ones will grow out of the Milk intolerance soon!
Congrats on #2 as well!
AJ: Now thats what I like to see...a good boy and just the right size for Simone. :D
Being 5.10 myself, I def. know how tough it is to find a nice tall guy!
I keep meaning to post and update everyone on the job and daycare search but it's a regular soap opera around here lately. More about that later, but first...
AJ , X is such a cutie, how many teeth does he have now? His stats are great! He is very tall! Good to hear you found child care!
Stacey, love the pictures of Mia. She's got a great appetite.
Joelle, thank you so much for sending the link to the pictures of Grady and Ryleigh. I love the one with the wagon wheel in Grady's mouth. What a little ham.
Ryleigh has the most beautiful eyes, they are so big in the pictures you posted. How is your new cat adjusting to her?
Poor Ryleigh, a fat lip! Isn't the worst feeling when they get hurt? So far we've had minor bumps, but I'm just waiting for a big one! Grady doesn't seem to even notice when he hits his head and I try to laugh it off with him to show that it’s ok, he's a pretty tough little guy.
Annie, how's Jack? I hope he didn't get croup!
Cindy, Simone is another tall one!
Grady's doctor thought he had a milk intolerance, so he was on Soy for a bit too. I'm not sure if he actually had an intolerance, because when we started him on Good Start a few months ago, there were no sign of his previous problems. I've also heard that if they have a milk intolerance, they could also have a problem with soy.
Welcome Lobeth! 14 months apart, you brave soul :D
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I had my second interview and it went really well. The technical test was a little hard, they just do things so differently at this company. It was a little hard to apply my knowledge to what they were doing.
I have one more interview, this time with the VP of Engineering. I know him from when I used to work there, and he and DH have known each other forever. I'm not too worried about that interview. My only worry is that the woman from HR wants a reference from my last manager. Uh-oh. :rolleyes: Lets just say that we didn't part on great terms when I left for my mat leave. I hope he is professional and gives me the reference I deserve.
We also found daycare this week. My best friend who is Grady's godmother decided that she was going to take in a child instead of going back to work. Grady knows her and I trust her completely with him. I'm just sad that she's going to watch my little guy and I'm going back to work.
Grady is cruising like crazy. He is all over the house and we've set up a little play area for him upstairs. His favourite word this week is 'Ma', or 'Mam, Mam, Mam'. For the longest time it was 'Da, da, da, da', so I'm pretty happy. We also think he's trying to say 'Grandpa' but it's coming out 'kaka', lovely, personally I think he's listening to his DH too much. ;)
Kate, good to hear abt the child care and second interview!
Lord, I don't want to think abt providing references from my 2004 job at the grocery store.... :p
The care I have is good for Sept only. Our acquaintance is not ready to take on any kids for an extended period. But it was really great to see X interacting w/ her 3 yr old son. I think they'll be good friends.
Another student replied to my ad for care. She didn't work out, but she's the first one to give me an explanation as to why I might be having probs: The students need 20+ hours/week to get co-op credit for child care. I told her I'd love to have 20 hours of care so I could study in peace as well as go to class, but I'd have to pay below minimum wage ($7.15 in Ontario) to afford it! :p
I'm so envious of the moms in my local group who have found ppl who will do a full week of care for $100! Of course, that means I have to stop looking for licensed caregivers and give up on the idea of getting tax receipts (which would lead us to getting 31.5% of our child-care bill back as a tax refund in the spring).
We'll see.
Joelle, KITTEN! :)
X has eight teeth, and we think two more will appear soon.
This is at the park last Wed:
Lori: Welcome and Congrats!
AJ: Great Stats on X! Wow 8 teeth! We still have none! Yes, we have a new 4 legged baby in our house! She is CRAZY! But she is GREAT with Ryleigh! Great Pic of X in the park!
Cindy: Simone is a great size!
Kate: No problem on the link! The cat is getting along fine with the other cats, and the rest of us! It is funny, she does so many kitten things that I had forgotten about! She attacks my hair on my pillow! It is funny, I remember Tigger doing that too!
So far that fat lip was the worse of the bumps. I laugh at them with Ryleigh too!
Thanks about Ryleigh's eyes! I just love looking at them!
YEAH for day care! That is fabulous! Fingers crossed on the reference and the next interview for you!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ryleigh had her 9.5 month check up on Tuesday and the results are:

Birth 7lbs 2 oz 20 3/4 inches
9.5 M 21lbs 5 oz 29 inches

She has only gained 12 oz since the last appointment, but the doctor was very happy with her development!

She is crawling EVERYWHERE and pulling up on EVERYTHING! We have a push toy that she walks behind and LOVES it! Still no teeth, but I am sure that they are going to start coming soon!

Other than that, not too much else is new in our house. We are going to start taking Ryleigh to the babysitters for an hour at a time in September, to work her up to the all day when I go back to work on the 1st November.

Hope everyone is doing great!

I've been bad, obsessing over Halloween. Almost bought an outfit last year when they were on sale, but didn't. So walked into The Children's Place today, and got hooked into buying one full price. (DH will just have to get over it. :p )
Not sure if I mentioned it, but X likes to growl, has been doing so for a couple of months now. Have no idea where he picked it up.
He also looks great in yellow-based greens, lime green, olive green, etc.
So, I have been planning for him to be a green monster of some sort, possibly a dragon.
And then today I saw this: http://www.childrensplace.com/www/b/TCP/images/styles/343319_l.jpg
Sold! :D

AJ I am also thinking about Halloween. I think that it is because I only missed it last year by 10 days! I have found several costumes that I would like to see Jack in. These are the two front runners.

The hard part is deciding which one to get!

I love X curls. He is such a cutie!

Joelle great idea about the babysitter. We should have done that with Jack when we switched. He cried and carried on horribly when he started at the new daycare. But now he is pretty relaxed and loves going.

Kate Jack never did get the croup. Thank God. He is doing great. He did end up with a cold though. I think that had a lot to do with the teething. he finally cut both top teeth through and now the cold is going away. That takes a lot of tension off of my mind.

Great news about the daycare situation. It is a lot easier taking our kids to someone we really know then a perfect stranger (don't I know it!) ALSO great news about the job. I will keep my fingers crossed for you hon. I just love the new pictures of Grady. What a sweetheart!

Lori it is great to meet you. We love to meet new November 2004 mommies. A big ol CONGRATS to you on baby #2. That is really exciting.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Jack is a movin. He loves to cruise the furniture now. And also walk around the house with the assistance of his mommy or daddy. He almost pulls us along he tries to walk so fast. He finally has 4 teeth. The 4th upper poked through this past weekend. WHich makes for a happier kid and happier mom too!

His newest word is "uh-oh". He just loves to say it. Funny story about that. We were in the grocery story middle of last week and he was playing with my coupon organizer. When he was done playing, he decided to throw it on the floor. I heard it hit the ground, looked up and him and he said "uh-oh". I just died laughing. That was the greatest. Now it is a game. Everything goes off of his tray at dinner time. Sippy cub, food, toys, you name it and it will become an "uh-oh".

AJ- I thought about the octopus too...had it in my hand to buy even, then realized Mia wouldn't be able to crawl around in it...those tenticals would be a bother ;). So, the chick it is. The dragon costume is so cute!

Annie- LOVE the aviator costume! Yoda is pretty funny too. :D So glad that Jack didn't get the croup! I'm impressed with his talking! So cute!

Great photos of Ryleigh, Grady and X!

Welcome Lori!

I can't believe how tall Simone is Cindy! Mia is such a shorty!!! I guess she got my Mom's genes...she's barely 5 feet tall (though I'm 5'5"). Bummer...

Daycare- We have had a local college student watching Mia in our home one day a week, and she will continue to do so until December...but then she is going abroad for a semester. My Mom watches Mia on Mondays, and a girlfriend of mine will start watching Mia Tuesday mornings in our home (I only work 2 and a half days/week)...I feel bad that it is sort of a mish-mosh of childcare providers, but Mia seems OK with it for now. She has no stranger anxiety of any sort, and I am HOPING that continues. We'll have to figure out something different starting in January- hoefully my Mom on Mondays, and one consistent person will come to our home the other day and a half every week, or maybe a day care situation 2 days/week.

Music- Mia and I have been taking baby music classes all summer. Anyone else doing anything similar? It's sort of a Mommy & Me music class through Music Rhapsody. This kid LOVES music...goes crazy for it! My Dad's an awesome musician...maybe she's got it in the blood!?

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Kates - Grady is too cute tossing toys! We have a staircase similar to yours. I was wondering what baby gate do you have and was it hard to install? Is it a swinging gate? We still have not installed gates at the stairs and that is something we really need to do so Tori will have more places to play.

That is amazing that X has 8 teeth, AJ. Tori's top teeth just came in 2 weeks ago, so now she has 4. Actually they are still coming in because they are not all of the way down.

duke's flygirl - Ryleigh sounds like she is developing and growing at a fine rate. I was told that babies gain slower when they start to crawl and walk since they are working some of the calories off now.

Tori has a push walker too and she loves to "walk" with it. Her latest thing is letting go and trying to stand by herself. She only stands for about 2 or 3 seconds though. We give her lots of praise and clap whenever she does it, so now when she plops down she smiles and claps for herself. Hopefully this will bring her a step towards walking because I dont know how many more months I'll be able to carry her around.

AnnieLynn, AJ, Mia's Ma, and Joelle: All of those halloween baby outfits are too cute! Makes me want to run out and buy one now. Maybe I'll browse them online!

Stacey/Mia's Mama - I was just talking to my MIL about putting Tori in a Dance andTumbling class when she's a little older. She loves music and loves to "dance." She has great rhythm, unlike her mother who has two left feet!

Well Jack stood alone for the first time yesterday. He has been cruising the furniture for about a week now. But yesterday for the first time that he actually moved from the coffee table to his entertainment table alone. Of course I missed it with the camera and he didn't do it again the rest of the night but, I am so proud. It will not be long before I have a walked on my hands.

These costumes are great. I just love them all.

Marlene - Frankie is getting so big. He is such a cutie. AND WALKING! WTG Frankie.

Kate I have to tell you that Jack learned a new way to eat his wagon wheels. He just loves to shove the whole thing in his mouth! I just died laughing when I saw that yesterday. I thought of Grady. I did get it on video but couldn't find the time to DL it. Hopefully soon I will get it on the PC.

Lori Jack has a push walker that he has just started using. But he hasn't quite figured out how to move his feet fast enough to keep up with it. LOL So instead of walking behind it he now crawls behind it. This way when he does a face plant he isn't as far off the ground. :)
