We are going to be redoing our kitchen soon and have just started to spec out cabinets and appliances. Due to the fact that we dont have much space to work with, we've run into a problem of having to put our dishwasher smack-dab next to our oven range. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? I tried doing a google search and came up with nothing.

Any advice/suggestions welcome!! TIA!

I dont think that it would be bad at all.
If nothing else you can clean why cooking. :D
i would have the oven dishwasher then the countertop with the sink in it.
wether that would cause any electric and etc... problems I have no clue.

Our oven and dishwasher are next to each other:

I've never heard of this being an issue. The only thing I've heard is to keep the stove away from the fridge.

Just make sure the dishwasher and the range are on seperate fuses.

Thanks for the tip amorey! Do I have to get an electrician to do that?? I'm assuming so, right?

Most likely. You'll need to add a new fuse/circuit breaker and run the wire to the dishwasher. We added three or four new circuit breakers when we remolded our kitchen because we added a dishwasher, outlets, and an over-the-range microwave. My dad did ours, but he's an electrical engineer.

Yea, we are adding a dishwasher as well... so I assume we'll need to get that done!! great! You are a wealth of knowledge! :p

I had a small kitchen before we remodeled. it was 1 run of cabinets on one wall. It looked like this

So we had a cabinet + range + dishwasher + sink + cabinet

It was the WORST layout imaginable. The tiny bit of space (24") where the dishwasher was is NOT enough room to get anything done. We either had dishes lined up there or food waiting to be cooked. I would not recommend it myself. But I guess if you have to...

Yea it's not the ideal layout - but on the other side of our kitchen we'll have a large countertop - hopefully plenty of room for prep work, etc! Kristen78 - I keep meaning to tell you - your kitchen is amazing! I can't believe you guys did most of that yourselves... it's really inspiring! :)

juliemag, Thanks! I love my new (and much improved) kitchen.

If you will have a spot with a long stretch of counterspace then the dishwasher + oven combo will probably work out fine. As you can see we only had about 24" of continuous counterspace in our old kitchen. It was a complete nightmare. not to mention the lack of storage space there...It gives me the creeps just to look at my old kitchen photos!
