Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are Sare79 and gymwidow
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread after 5 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
• Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Hello everyone!!! i am so sorry that I have been MIA for so long. I have had a lot on my plate this past week. My grandmother is holding her own but we don't think it will be much longer. DH and I went to see her today and she has lost a lot of weight. She also is in and out of consciousness. Anyway things do not look good. DH and I were very drained emotionally after we visited with her. The only good thing is that she has had no pain. So we are very happy about that.
As far as TTC is concerned the BD fest will begin tomorrow. Ovulation is anticipated in 5-6 days and I am usually on time. Of course the stress I am under may change that.
I need to get back to the last thread to catch up on everything that has happened since I have been gone. Congrats to all that got your bfp's. I am so happy for each one of you. I look forward to seeing many more!!!
Well, I am off to catch up. Will be back tomorrow...I hope.

DH was shocked - so surprised, particularly because I had told him that I thought I was getting AF earlier in the week... I gave him a little onesie that I had had made - it has his company logo on it - in a box with my clearblue digital PG test that said "Pregnant" in the display window. He started crying as soon as he saw it. :) he's a sweetheart!
For those of you who are members of this thread, I hope you all get your BFPs soon - sending positive thoughts your way!

ABirney Congrats on your new niece. Hope your cold will go away soon so you can see her and get more accurate temps.
Congrats lawgirl! Very H&H 9 months to you!
Delaney Sorry AF showed. But, at least you have something to look forward to, if you can be out on maternity leave during the busy season. ;)
ptcrn At least try to hold out until 12DPO, that's only 3 more days. :)
gymwidow That is wierd. Maybe your body is doing strange things because it's not used to the trigger shot? Have fun obsessing over the FPS, I'm hoping to join you in that soon.
Deanna Sorry your grandmother is doing so poorly. Hope you are holding up ok.
pocahontas Welcome, hope your stay is short and sweet. :)
polka Hope you O today or soon. It's so hard to wait!

Hi all,
Congrats to lawgirl! It's always exciting to come back after a weekend and find some BFPs!
I'm 7DPO today. Didn't temp over the weekend, and I'm going to try not to for the rest of this cycle. I think I'll test on Saturday.
I'm sick. Nice sore throat, which would probably account for the tiredness last week.
Here's hoping all those waiting to O catch some eggs!

I am officially on my longest LP ever. Lots of brown spotting but my temp went up a bit today which floored me. I took two HPT's this weekend hoping to get a BFP before we went to a family funeral. BOth were negative but they were 9 and 10 DPO. I am waiting to see what tomorrow's temp is.
I think everyone in DH's family got in some dig about us not having kids yet... It was pretty hard to take since I had 2 BFN's within the last 24 hours... <sigh> I did ok though.

Hi Girls,
jbemommoy & lawgirl Congrats on your BFP! H&H 9 months to you.
lawgirl your DH reaction is so cute! What a proud daddy to be! :)
Deanna sorry to hear about your grandma. I hope she does not suffer. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
pocahontes Welcome! Hope your stay is short and sweet.
polkadot Here's hoping that you O today!
Jenzen sorry to hear you are sick. Hope this is the month for you!
As for me CD12 and just waiting to O. I was gone all weekend, so I wasn't able to take any OPK tests. I will take one when I get home from work today.
Question: Does anyone get ovulation pains? The reason I ask is usually for about a week or so before I O, I get pains on my right side. I also become a little constipated. They usually come on closer to night time and can make falling asleep and/or staying a sleep difficult. Could these be O pains or possible something else? TIA!

I'm starting to run out of ideas for thread titles, ladies!!! So when we get to five this time, I think we should start taking suggestions! :)

Hi everyone. Please remove me from the stats as I am no longer TTC with charting. Regular doctor has said that there is nothing else she can do for us, so we have been referred to an RE. Our first appointment isn't until April. Until then I will not be charting, as it is very clear that all I have are long annovulatory cycles.
I have enjoyed being a part of this thread. Good luck to everyone.

Suzfuzsunflower – I was in the same situation. Annov cycles and clomid did not work. My RE was great. Don’t lose hope. Be sure to take your charts with you. He may look at them to verify that you are not ovulating.

OK, Today I had a temp dip. I know sometimes this indicates ovulation. For the most part my temps have been pretty regular. Can anyone give me any insite?? I know, i'm being crazy. I guess i'll know if my temp is up tomorrow!!!

Hi ladies! I have been active in the SWH thread for 6 months now and that's apparently not working, so here I am. I started charting last cycle just to see what's going on, and I think I am now ready to join over here. Here are my stats:
Jess71903
Me: Jessica (27) - December 10
DH: Tony (26)
Married: July 19, 2003
Last BCP: Date August 21, 2005
TTC since: Aug 2005
Charting since Jan 3, 2006
Chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/10d126
Now, for the question that prompted me to come on over: I started spotting yesterday, and had red flow this am, but it has remained light and mostly brown today for the rest of the day. My temps have not dropped at all yet. When are they supposed to?
ETA: Here's my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/10d126

well lets see....
Jess- if your temps are still up I would still wait until tomorrow to see what temp does...spotting could be a good thing actually, what DPO are you? dotn give up.
charliezangel- it could be today....do you use OPK's that coudl help next time....wait and see what tomorrows temp brings...dont quit dtd...bd all you can...just in case...
well...as for me...we have been bding for the last uhmmm forever...and i think i got a positive OPK today but I am making Brian wake me up when he gets home at 5 am so we can BD before i go to work.,..just in case....i hope this is it...we have Preseed...but damn...i am tired ;)
Jess71903
01-30-2006, 06:16 PM
Polkadot- I am at 14 DPO and got a BFN Sat at 12 DPO. Why can't things just be EASY???? Last cycle I had a very light period and I wasn't even sure what day to call CD 1 but it was my 1st attempt at charting so I have no clue what my temps were doing. I had a definite O at CD 14. I am planning to start taking baby asprin so if the problem is not enough lining, I can help to fix that
polkadot
01-30-2006, 06:21 PM
Jess- that sounds liek it sucks...i would again wait till tomorrow and see what your temp does. Did it go down at all last month? Try again with full mornign urine tomorrow...if temp doesnt go down and the spottign stops. and you can handle a BFN.....sorry i am not much more help....:o

Jess it sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I am expecting my temp to drop tomorrow cause the witch might as well be here.
Jess71903
01-30-2006, 06:55 PM
See I don't know if my temp went down or not. I started charting Jan 3 My first temps were:
CD 3 97.8
CD 4 97.9
CD 5 97.5
CD 7 97.3
CD 8 97.2
CD 9 97.2
This morning, and yesterday morning were 98.3 and have been up in the 98 range. I did have a dip at 8DPO, but FF didn't call it a sign of implantation. I still have 2 tests in the house, so if nothing changes, I may just test again in the morning, but I am pretty sure I am out.

I feel like such a slacker! Nothing is going on at all though, as far as TTC. I am patiently waiting to O. I am on CD11 so going by my average O date I have about a week and 1/2 before I O, but as usual I am convinced it could happen any day now. I seem to O earlier each cycle than the cycle before, and I don't want to risk missing it. I will probably start my OPK's this Sunday. I have 4 left from last month's pack and I am not buying any more.
Gosh I hope this is our month.

Hi Ladies!
Okay, so I'm joining up. I keep trying to make myself believe that I'm charting "just for the fun of it" and that we're really just "seeing what happens"....but when one starts to obsessively stare at the chart each day and looks forward to temping each AM....well, I think we're TTC w/charting ;)
I'm fairly new to charting with a purpose. I was temping in Nov/Dec just to get a feel for things. I didn't chart last month (our first TTC) but decided to this month because I really wanted to see what was happening.
So, my stats:
Me: Beth
DH: Tim
Married since: 12/06/03
Off BCP since: 6/04
TTC since: 12/06
Charting since: 1/06
Known issues/test results: none
I *think* I'm in the 2ww right now. Although FF isn't showing ovulation yet, I *think* I O'd on CD14? If anyone wants to peak at my chart and tell me what they think, that'd be great :)

Girls, I think that TTC has finally taken a toll on my hubby, yesterday afternoon, we bded for a good 15 minutes and he just wasnt feeling it and couldnt finish...well this morning I woke him up before i left for work and again same thing....i feel bad for him b/c he thinks I am mad at him or upset, which i am not. I just dont know what is going on with him....its probably all the stress which there is a lot of these days concerning when and if we will be able to concieve again so i know he is under a lot of pressure. I am just going to have to know that we did all we could this cycle and hope for the best...and if it doesnt happen this cycle...then i guess we are on to next month....later girls...

Threadmistress, please move me to waiting to test, sometime around 2/6.
Not much going on here. Same symptoms as every cycle, cramping on 1&2 DPO, sore BB's. Our timing was good, so I'm hopeful, especially since this is our first cycle after my HSG. But deep down I'm worried that our problem lies with DH. He smokes about 5 cigs a day. He wasn't smoking at all when we conceived DS (he had quit for the wedding, and DS was a honeymoon baby) and apparently that decreases sperm quality by 30%. He is getting his SA next Monday. Praying for good results!
My BF, who has also been TTC #1 for about 8 months now as well, got her DH's SA results late last week. He had great counts and great motility, but his morpology count came back at 0 on the kruger scale  . The RE seems to think their only chance of conceiving is IVF, which she is adamantly against (very strict Catholic upbringing). Needless to say, she is devastated. He's going to stop smoking, do a repeat SA and see how that gos.
Jenzen01
01-31-2006, 09:29 AM
jjsanner - I've got the same situation as you. DH wasn't smoking when we conceived DS, but now he's at it again. I "think" he smokes about 2 a day, although I don't know because I never see him do it ... I just know because I have a good nose. I ask him about it every once in a while, just to keep him accountable.
Part of me blames him a little for the miscarriage because I read that smoking increases your risk of miscarriage. Sigh ....

giry76 It's hard to be bugged about kids when you want to be pg and aren't yet. Glad you made it through ok though.
jessied If I feel anything, it's mild cramps like the day before or of O. But, it could be different for everyone, so I'm not sure if what you described is O-related. Good luck catching that eggie!
Lilla Let's hear it for lots of V-day baby making. :D
Sare79 I like the current thread title, good job!
suzfuzsunflower Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Good luck for your future attempts, with whatever you have to do.
Charliezangel You don't always get a temp dip, but that could be it. Time will tell... ;)
Jess71903 Welcome, hope charting works for you and you get a BFP soon. Your temp should drop within a day or so of AF's arrival (before or after the arrival).
ABirney Cute new niece, and I love the shirt. :)
BethIrish Welcome, hope your stay is short and sweet. As for your chart... given the EWCM, I'd say you Oed on CD 16 or not yet. A few more temps will help though.
Still waiting to O myself. Really, really hoping it's today because I want to be in the 2ww already. Come on eggie!

I'm scheduled to test on 2/9, according to FF.
Nothing interesting going on, other than maybe cramps last night. I had strange dreams and kept feeling crampy, but I never fully woke up, so I don't know if they were real cramps or something I was dreaming. Either way, I'm really tired today!

Drive by posting..... things have gotten even busier at work and I've had meetings every day out of the office, which eats up even more time. I'm so sorry I can't do SO's now, but I wanted to stop by and say hi and send hugs to all.
I'm at 4DPO and have no FPS at all yet. I had some post-O cramping on Saturday. I'm on the progesterone supps now and they're not a ton of fun, but they're not that bad, either. The worst part of them was the cost! Oh, well. I don't feel particularly negative or positive about this cycle; no clue really what our chances could be. Theoretically, we did everything right - Clomid, trigger shot, IUI 26 hours later, BD all weekend, prog. supps now. I'm planning to test at 12DPO, next Wednesday, and go in for a blood pg test at 14DPO on Friday.
I'll come out of lurking and post whenever I can! :)

Same thing happened to us last month. We started bding every day too early and were worn out by the end, especially with normal life stress on top of it all. I certainly can't blame DH, I wasn't into it any more than he was and was really really dry. This month I bought some pre-seed which will hopefully help things. Anyway, DH had to leave for a business trip at just the wrong time and I just got AF which was what I expected. Right now I'm just excited to make a really good effort this month, hopefully it will be the first month trying where we actually time it right! Also, I think I figured out why my temps were so erratic last month - I don't think I was being careful enough about placement of the thermometer.

ABirney, your niece is adorable! I have a new niece too, born yesterday morning. She is just beautiful and gives me hope! It was cool seeing my DH holding her and oohing and aahing too. :)
I am still waiting to test, 10 DPO here. I think the only reason I've been so good is that I'm incredibly sick. I have a sore throat and have just been SO tired over the last few days. I came home for lunch today and fell dead asleep for an hour. I'm hoping that it isn't just because I'm sick!

magrat - good luck with this cycle! It's so hard not starting to bd too early, I'm always paranoid if we wait to close to o, it'll be the one time I o early.
gymwidow - sounds like you're busy so your wait will go by quickly. You seem to have everything in line, so I'm crossing my fingers this results in a bfp for you!
Sare79 - I hate waiting for the crosshairs to show up... it's even worse when you know it's wrong!
armadillo - good luck with your 2ww!
bunnybeth - I'm in the same boat as you, just waiting to O.
jjsanner - this is my first cycle after an HSG as well. I really hope that does the trick for both of us!
polkadot - I'm so sorry about all of the stress for you and your DH. I hope you're able to conceive and have a healthy pregancy very soon!
pocahontas, BethIrish, & Jess71903 - Welcome!
I'm CD 13, and waiting to O. This is the first cycle trying after the HSG last week. I'm hopeful that the pain of the hsg will be rewarded with a BFP this cycle! :)

Hmmm.
****TMI alert****
When I went to the washroom at lunch I noticed that my CM is most definitely EWCM now. Is that common to change a lot throughout the day? To go from Watery to EW seems like a bit of a stretch (Ugh. no pun intended)
Besides, I would be surprised if I O'ed this early. Surprised, yet stoked.

Crosspost from SWH thread:
Hi ladies! It kinda feels good to start fresh, although I am discouraged right now.
I took another test this a.m. and another BFN for me. I tested again because I am not sure I started....TMI AHEAD: I got up yesterday morning, (after some pink spotting Sun.) and felt that feeling like you have after getting up after sex...a little warm gush...whatever... so I am thinking that this is it, she's here. But no. Some bright red on the TP, I used a tampon, had some cramping on the way to work, and I took it out, it was mainly brown and white with a tiny tiny bit of red. This is all I had all day. Same today. Nothing. This happened last month too. What do I do about it? Is this what you take baby asprin for?
Just for the charters: My temp dropped this a.m. from 98.3 to 98.0. Would the arrival of AF make it continually drop over several days or is it a sudden fall?

Can you guys describe the Clearblue tests? I am worried now that the one I took yesterday was one that measured a higher concentration of HGH... my hairdresser gave this one to me without the package, so I am not sure which it is. Not digital, blue cap, blue lines, + or - readout (but isn't that clearblue's signiture???) Don't know how else to describe it.

Sare, My CM changes by the hour. It can be sticky and white one moment, and EWCM a few hours later. In fact, i spend the majority of my cycle in the watery/EW stage. I still haven't figured out what this means. But I can relate. I had a big dip in Temp today, so i'm gonna try to get DH to bed a little early ;)

5DPO and still no FPS. Which is probably a good thing, because if I DID feel anything I'd be overanalyzing it and making myself crazy. As it is, I'm just looking forward to keeping busy at work and going away this weekend. When I get back next week I'll only be a couple of days away from testing!
Q: Do you guys think that 12DPO is too early to test? I don't know if I can hold out longer than that. I'll be going in for a 14DPO blood test at my RE's office.
BethIrish, I think maybe O was CD17?
jjsanner, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's situation! I hope the stopping smoking helps. Have you talked to your DH about doing the same?
bunnybeth, I hope you see that O soon!
sare, hmmm, according to your temps it looks like O might've been CD15. But you're right, the CM doesn't match up. Hopefully you'll see a big temp jump soon so you can call it for sure.
magrat, I hope this month is better for you!
ABirney & ptcrn, congrats on your new nieces!
ptcrn, when do you think you'll test?
mayham, thanks! I hope you catch your egg this month!
Jess71903, my temp always drops slowly and doesn't really go down until a few days into AF. (Now that I'm on Clomid it stays high for a while.) I hope you get a clear answer one way or the other soon - not knowing what's going on is tough!

Hi Ladies, I am hoping your vast knowledge about charting (and the related temp taking) will help me with my rookie question . . .
I am going to beging charting next cycle (I have been using a Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor for a few months but I am unsure whether I am O'ing when it claims I am). I bought a basal body thermometer from CVS and did a "test" run this am (Since I am sooo Type-A, I have to make sure I know what I am supposed to do before I actually have to do it  ).
The thermometer instructions state that it should only take about 60 seconds to read my temp. However, the first time I took my temp this am it took over 4 minutes to read and the thermometer gave me a temp of 97.80. I decided to do it a second time just to make sure I had done it right since 4 minutes seemed a bit long to me :p. The second time I took my temp (immediately after the first reading) it still took over 4 minutes to read and it gave me a temp of 97.92.
Is this normal -- I mean if I can't get two similar reads (I thought I recalled a 0.1 difference is a big one) when I take my temp on the same morning one right after the other, I am afraid my temps from day to day won't be accurate and then what is the whole point of me charting:confused:. . .

Abirney Thanks for posting the picture. She is adorable.
Polkadot I am sure that the stress of ttc gets to everyone once and awhile.
Jjsanner & Jenzen My DH smokes as well and I feel the same way but anytime I mention that this he says there are a lot of people out there with kids who smoke. GRR But he is trying to quit or cut back.
gymwidowAt least being busy should help the wait. Sending good vibes your way. I would wait but that is me.
Mrs.R Sometime it takes awhile when I temp and then other times it is done right away. As for the temp difference did you move around some before you took the 2nd temp as that can make a change. I would keep temping and see.
Nothing exciting to post just waiting.

charliezangel The drop in temps you're seeing is completely normal. Estrogen pushes temps down.
As for me, my temps have been strange the last few months, higher than normal (probably bc of the thyroid meds). I guess I'll know for sure in a few days, but from my chart right now it looks like I might have O'd on day 12 (several days earlier than normal for me -- usually it's day 15). That would mean BD timing was off.
Also wondering if it's worth it to BD again. We might have missed it this month.

Hey everyone!
Congrats Ericka! H&H 9 months.
Good luck to those O'ing and testing soon!
Hope those of you that are sick are feeling better soon as well... I know stuff has been going around really bad here.
My coworker had her baby today around 12:30... a girl. It is her first baby and she was almost 10#! Not bad for just going into the hosp at 12:30 this morning... 12 hours. I haven't seen her yet, she's pretty pooped and I'm sure she'll have lots of family there today, so I'll wait a day or two before I visit.
As for me, I was going to call my Dr today and talk to her about Provera again but she was out of the office... then this afternoon my CM was getting close to EW (but not quite) and my CP was pretty high... so maybe I'll give it a few days and see what happens. I'm on CD50 already though.
Well have a great afternoon everyone!

Ok I finally have a decent amount of time to post. The fertile time has now begun. Let the BD fest begin. DH is really into it this month. Of course the trip to the local adult store last week could have been the motivator. I won't get into specifics about what was bought. Just use your imagination. We actually saw alot of couples there. We were actually very surprised. OK enough about that....maybe I treaded into waters that should never have been crossed. Has anyone else gone and gotten things to spark things up a little bit during TTC?
Well anyway, I am hoping this month is fruitful. I have been very consistent with ovulating. Now if only we can get those swimmers to where they need to be. We plan on Bd'ing every day.
I think I will be better prepared for the 2WW this time around. I am going to try not to notice every little possible symptom this time around as I now realize that I have a lot of those symptoms during a normal cycle.
I will post SO soon. Be back in a few!

Abirney...good luck with your phone call to your Dr. I am really showing my newbieness with this question but..... what does provera do? Maybe I should have asked this question on the ttc rookie thread.
Sare79 ...congrats on O'ing. I am very close to O'ing myself. I'm sorry but I don't know where to find them any cheaper. My DH has no idea about how much I am spending on tests each month.....if he did he would probably have a stroke. I figure if we are not pregnant in 6 months I will look for a cheaper alternative.
ptcrn...Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. What part of the country do you live in? I actually spoke to a physician today that there haven't been that many cases of the flu in our are (upstate ny). Get well soon!!!
Jenzen01...Hope you feel better soon. I have had a lot of patients cancel recently because of the dreaded winter cold. I have luckily not gotten sick this season (<knocking on wood>). Take care of yourself!
Alioop...Good luck with the test!!! Feel better soon!
MrsJackson....I am glad we are not the only ones. I have a feeling my husband will want to go back every once and awhile now that he has gotten a taste of it.

Thanks for the info girls. My EWCM is more noticible today than the rest of the cycle. TMI, i know, but i could actually feel it all day in my panties. It was super annoying. I was at the hospital visiting grandpa and i was so uncomfortable. Here's my question. We BDed on Sunday and Monday, but not last night and probably not tonight because i am seriously not in the mood after all the shit i've done today. I mean, I will try, but i am so not up to it after seeing grandpa at the hospital and grandma so upset. Do you think that if I had EWCM on Sunday and Monday that it's still possible for me to get PG if I;'m Oing today?? I know i've already been told that spermies can hang out in the right CM for up to 5 days. But our TTC has been kinda casual these days because of everything that has been going on.
I want it so bad, but life is ridiculously stressfull right now. my mom says it will happen when the time is right, but i don't want to wait, and then sometimes i do. AHHHHH...yes, lol, i know this is an entirely different topic.

Yay! I got crosshairs this AM - according to FF I O'd on CD17. We BD the night before but not on that day....so I don't know how great our chances are for this cycle.
But, even if it isn't this cycle, at least I'm getting used to this whole charting thing and it will hopefully be one of the next couple cycles :)

6DPO and welcome to the world of FPS. Well, only one, in the form of weird cramping this morning. They weren't quite like AF cramps, they were a little sharper, and they moved from the right side to the left and back. They're still going on, a bit mildly. I'm trying not to read anything into them and am attempting to stay as calm and ambivalent towards our chances as possible. I think that's probably the best frame of mind for me to be in!
I recently read that caffeine can have an effect on implantation. Does anyone know if alcohol can? I know it's "okay" to drink during the 2WW, but am wondering if alochol in the body can affect implantation as well. I was planning to have a drink or two over the weekend while I'm away, but can easily say no if it might increase my chances.
MrsR, my thermometer always takes at least 3-4 minutes to read my temp. And yes, you may have variations if you take it multiple times. I don't think that a 0.1 difference is that big. Use the first temp for yesterday's chart.
BethIrish, I think that CD17 date FF called is prob. pretty accurate. Welcome to the 2WW! BDing the night before is quite good timing, so think positively! :)
Mrs Jackson, hi!
jeant, it's hard to tell since you missed a few days worth of temps. I guess keep on BDing just in case and see what happens!
Jenzen, good luck testing this weekend!
ptcrn, did you test?
Sare, how frustrating to have all those differing signs. I hope your O shows itself soon!
ABirney, congrats to your coworker! I hope you get either an O or that Provera soon. Long cycles like that are awful.
Deanna, I think my DH would love if I agreed to take a trip to a store like that with him. Perhaps..... I hope you enjoy whatever it was you got! ;) Provera induces AF.
charliezangel, those little swimmers can live for a while, at least 3 days according to my RE, and sometimes longer. So it's still possible. But with all the other stuff you've got going on, def. don't make yourself nuts over this, too. There's only so much we can deal with at one time!
Alioop, I'm sorry. Will they do another? 10DPO seems early, even for a blood test.

ptcrn Hope you feel better soon.
Sare79 We might be O buddies now...
ABirney Hope you can get your cycle figured out soon.
charliezangel Yes, it can up be to 3-5 days. Not the best timing, but it could certainly work. :)
Alioop Sorry to hear that. Feel better soon. :)
BethIrish 1-2 days before O is a great time to BD, so I think you have pretty good timing this cycle.
gymwidow Yay for FPS! ;) Do you know how much caffeine effects implantation? I've cut back, but still have some (no more than 1 small coffee) a day. Don't know anything about the effect of alcohol on it though.
I think I may have O'd yesterday. My temp went up a bit today, and my CM has dried up quite a bit. I guess I'll just have to see what the next 2 temps will bring....

Morning, ladies. I only have a minute or two but wanted to pop in.
Nothing exciting going on here - CD6 and waiting for the arrival of my OPKs. Next week should be interesting. I'm traveling for work Sunday night - Wednesday night. Wednesday puts me 2 days before my typical O date, so I really hope my O is consistent this month and I'm home in time. I fear it being early and not being home for BDing. Ugh! Freaking work!!
Good luck to all waiting to test and waiting to O!!!!

My temps didn't go up today, so I don't know if yesterday was the day or not. I definitely had a cramp in one side like I did last time I O'ed, and had the right CM for O, but maybe it's today or tomorrow, but I have to say- we've had a pretty involved BD schedule these past days, so hopefully that's increasing the chances of catching the egg!

Jenzen01 Teeny tiny congrats!
BethIrish Your BDing looks *perfect*. There are several studies that show that your chances are actually 2 times higher on the day before and 2 days before O than on the day of O.
Speaking of which -- I O'd early so I'm out for this cycle already. I've never O'd earlier than day 14, and this cycle it was day 12. I was at a conference the weekend before, so we missed the best time. So technicially I am in I think I O'd, but I won't be testing since there's no chance.
Here's what gets me: part of the reason this happened is I "relaxed" -- I stopped temping and checking CM during my conference and generally didn't think about TTC very much. So we missed it. I hate those "just relax" people. :)
Plus I decided this morning I have a new summary of the whole thing: TTC sucks.
BethIrish
02-02-2006, 10:37 AM
jeant OH I like those studies!!!! :) I just don't want to get my hopes up. I won't test until I'm late. I don't have any HPT at home, so...no testing for me! (Let's see how my well my resolve goes....)
I never thought this TTC thing would be so, well, emotional. We go our whole lives thinking unprotected sex=baby, so now that I'm actually doing it I'm quite impatient!!! (I know, I'm preaching to the choir, here. You all know what a roller coaster this is.)
jen A very tentative and quiet Congratulations to you! Keep up updated on the testing!

02-02-2006, 11:09 AM
Jenzen, a cautious congratulations to you! I hope you see a darker line tomorrow!
I tested this morning and BFN. I really thought I might have a chance this month. I know its technically still possible, but wouldn't I have seen the slightest hint of a line at 12 DPO? I'll only test again if AF is late. Oh well.
I'd like to know how much caffeine affects implantation too. I usually have one medium coffee a day and not much else for caffeine. I think my problem has much more to do with my CM though (or lack thereof).

Hi again ladies,
I am freaking out a little and I think you all are the only ones who would understand! I was just reading some more medical journal articles (I have to stop doing this), and one finds that if you BD on the days with EWCM you have a 76% of getting pg your first cycle. Other studies find 50%. While that is supposedly great news for those of us charting, it freaks me out. We have BD'd on exactly the right days for 4 months and nothing has happened. This has me convinced that something is wrong with me. Help.

I understand how you feel. We've been at it for just over 7 months now. Don't worry yet. Because there is the 24% chance that you won't conceive, you have to remember that maybe you didn't read your O day right, or you may have had chemical pregnancies and not know it. I've heard "try to make it a year before you start seeking medical advice, unless you know of a condition that may hinder your ability to conceive.
I know it is awful to hear this, but the more you worry about it, the harder it is on you and your DH.

Bad news today. My dad called me at work this morning to let me know that my grandmother passed away early in the morning. Needless to say i couldn't concentrate so I left work. I also felt that my father shouldn't be alone so I ended up driving to the funeral home (1 hour away) with him. The calling hours are on saturday and the funeral is on Sunday.
Really not too much into TTC right now (for obvious reasons) but with ovulation right around the corner (this weekend actually) I will see if I can muster the energy tonight. Maybe this month will be a washout if I can't find the energy. Asking for any energy vibes that anyone can spare right now.
OK I am off to spend time with the hubby. Be back tomorrow.

Deanna1018, I'm so sorry about your grandmother. I hope you're doing okay, and I'm sending energy vibes your way for ttc during this difficult time. Hugs!
Jess71903 - sorry about AF, I hope your next cycle is the one!
jeant - I definitely know how you feel, we've been trying for 10 months and at least most of those times I thought we timed things right. It's so frustrating! Each time AF comes is one cycle closer to our BFP, right?
ptcrn - sorry about the BFN. Not to get your hopes up, but if you look at the charts on FF, there are a number of people who got BFPs after first getting a BFN. Good luck!
Jenzen01 - oooh, good luck!
My temp went up a little, so I think I O'd yesterday. We may just cover our bases tonight, just in case. I'm trying to stay positive, and will try not to obsess too much during the 2ww! We'll see how that goes... :)

Deanna- i am so sorry to hear about your grandmother ...she is in my prayers. I do want to let you know that we concieved last month on the day of Brians grandfathers funeral. Grief, can take a toll on you but maybe there is something to be said about death and a new life beginning. Prayers and hugs to your family.:(
Sare- great advice....i was about to say the same thing....
Jess- i was in your same situation last month...i was convinced that something was wrong with one of us...it took us 8 months to get our first BFP, sadly i lost the baby at 5 1/2 weeks. But atleast now I know we **can** get Pg so that is a load off of our shoulders. So we tried again this month and then if it doesnt work out in our favor we try again. You cant over analyze everythign or you will make yourslef crazy. Brian and I had a discussion last night...if this cycle we are not PG...i am hanging up the thermometer for a while and we are going to see what happens...i have know 2 girls...from this thread...that have stopped charting and just had fun and got there BFP's that month....i wouldnt stop charting if i were you...you still have plenty of time...but if its too much for you...by all means...take a break...TTC shouldnt be stressful, it should be fun....
listen to me i sound like an afterschool special...
i hope that helps...hugs to everyone AF found...and fingers crossed for all of us who are waiting....

Well this afternoon I had what I would consider EWCM.... not quite as good quality as I had when my cycles were normal when TTA but much better than I have had recently. Also my CP was very high... So maybe... just maybe... there's an O in my future... I'm already on CD51 but I do remember a lady (was it from this board a while back???) who O'd on CD110 and got pg. So I'm not giving up hope yet!

Jenzen01, a teeny congrats from me as well!
I am on CD14 and just cruising along. Time has gone pretty fast this cycle, but I haven't hit the anxiety of the 2ww yet. I've done a couple of things differently so far this month. Instead of drinking grapefruit juice right around O I have been drinking it throughout the month. I've also been drinking a ton more water and eating a lot more protein. I don't know if the amount of protein I eat will directly affect whether or not I get PG, but I know I wasn't getting enough so it's good to be getting more.
Good luck to all the testers out there. Let's start February off with a bang!

Though, I think I'm going to try and wait until the 20th. My longest cycle is 31 days, so if no AF on the 32nd day, I'll definitely test on the 33rd day. No early testing for me this month... unless my chart is on steroids!

02-03-2006, 09:26 AM
Lilla Well, then, here's hoping for an on-time or slightly late O this cycle.
Sare The temp went up today, so it looks like you weren't far off on the O date. Got your bases covered. :D
Congrats again Jenzen! Here's some more sticky vibes for you. :) Are you going to be testing again soon to see if you get a darker line?
jeant You still had a couple of days of EWCM and the temp wasn't that high on CD13 (I would never have put the cover line that low myself) so I think there's still a chance you O'd on CD13. That AM BD may have done the trick. Ok, not likely, but you never know. I wouldn't put too much stock in those articles. I've never heard numbers that high before. Plenty of my charting friends have taken 6+ months when BD on EWCM days.
ptcrn 12DPO is still on the early side. Don't give up yet.
Deanna So sorry to hear about your grandmother. Hope you're holding up ok.
mayham Looks like we might be O buddies. Just 1 more high temp...
Ok, my temp didn't go up that much more toda but it stayed up as much as yesterday and my CM was back to being mostly sticky/dry yesterday. (A tiny, tiny bit of EW in the morning, but that was it.) So, as long as my temp remains up tomorrow, that will mean I have indeed begun to O again. :) Question: we're having some friends at our place for the weekend, starting tonight. I'd like to cover my bases and BD until I confirm O, but would feel kinda weird doing so with friends in our spare room and down on our couch. (Due to our cats, we never close our bedroom door at night, so it would be kinda obvious to said friends if we had it closed for a bit.) Is it worth it, or do you all think I O'd on Wednesday?
Jenzen01
02-03-2006, 09:36 AM
hey bunnybeth,

Hey Ladies:
Deana I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
jenzen Here's hoping for a darker line...fingers crossed. A quiet congrats to you!
As for me CD16 and I had bit of a temp jump today. I don't know if it is a sign that I O'd. I kind of hope it isn't because we were way to tired to BD last night, however we were covering our bases before hand. I guess we will see.
Also, if you all can keep my BIL and DH's family in your thoughts. BIL was diagnosed with cancer about 2 1/2 years ago. He has esophageal cancer (DH's family has acid reflux/GI track issues). Things have not been going well and last week his oncologist told him in such away that chemo was no longer an option. Without treatment they are giving him 2 to 5 weeks. They check with a radiologist and they can't do anything for him as well, the cancer is getting to agreesive and his body is just not strong enough. He started having difficulties swallowing yesterday, so they called the GI doc to see if they could put a stent in to make him more comfortable and help him eat. We are still waiting to hear from the doc.
The family is pretty devestate by the news but are haning in there. DH's older sister is 35 weeks pregnant as well and we are just hoping she doesn't go into labor early because of this.
Good luck to everyone testing. Sorry to hear about AF for others. Hang in there.

02-03-2006, 10:31 AM
bunnybeth I agree -- I think you already O'd. Which means your BD timing was perfect already!
And thanks for the thoughts on my chart and on the articles. I was thinking both things myself, so it's nice to hear that from someone else! That article did sound a little wacky, since I've seen other figures saying that even with BD on EWCM days you only have a 25% chance per cycle. You'd think we'd know the real facts by now, KWIM?
As for the chart, yeah, I think day 13 is possible. It's really weird -- I often get one or even two days of EWCM after O. And it's "new" EWCM too -- the other day I went swimming and there was none afterward, but then it showed up again a few hours later. And that was 2 days after O! I don't get it. Unless my temp rises before O, which makes no sense physiologically.

I am just worried that i will get PG and then i will go in and the same thing will happen again and they wont do anything about it. So should i call the dr office and let them know my concerns or just see what my body does. I am really scared that they are going to tell me they wont do anything and i will have to go through another m/c...not scared ....more like terrified. I am trying to not get worked up about it...b/c i know its not good for me or potential polkatot...i think i may ask Brians opinion but i really think i will call the dr office. jessied So sorry to hear about your BIL, I'll keep the family in my prayers.
jeant Not a phophet, just FF is on crack most of the time or something. And, chart interpretation gets easier with time and I've been charting for forever it seems.
charliezangel Talk about fertile-quality CM! You're still only on CD18, so that's not that late to be pre-O unless you know you consistantly O earlier. This is your first cycle charting, right? Even if you have a short/average cycle, you don't know how long your typical luteal phase is, or maybe you're even just having plain-old delayed O for one reason or another. The temps are a little bit all over, but some women, or even just some cycles, are that way. And, not just waking time will affect morning temp. CD 17
Okay, I'm back - I tried to take a break from thinking too much about TTC because it's frustrating to wait to O. But now I've seen some promising signs - watery and EWCM.
But I'm frustrated by the stupid OPKs. I get nuthin'. No line at all. I thought that it showed a faint line when you get close to Oing? Maybe I'm wrong. Plus, I just can't hold my pee for the four hours it says. I don't even go that long at night. During the day, I'm lucky if I can go two hours without going. So I don't know if these are going to work.
Anyway, regardless of the OPKs, we are going to BD every day until my temp goes up, so we'll have our bases covered.
charliezangel - I think your temps look normal - I hope you see that temp jump soon so you'll know when you Od.
polkadot - I would test early. I think that doctors only do anything for people who've miscarried repeatedly. If you test, know you are pg, and then miscarry, even if the doctor won't do anything now, you'll have the knowledge that it was an early miscarriage and sign of a potential problem. I'm sorry, this must be very hard . :(
jeant - I think that article is not accurate. Look how many people have hung out in this thread (and therefore were most likely BDing at the right time) for anywhere from 2-12 months and got a BFP. Lots and lots! I know that this is a completely unscientific example, but it does make me hopeful that if it doesn't happen right away, it doesn't mean there's a problem.
jessied - How sad for you and your DH and his family! I'm so sorry about your BIL - I hope that he can feel how supported and loved he is by you guys right now. :(
jenzen - tiny congratulations and looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow!
bunnybeth - Can you wait until the middle of the night, everyone is asleep, and close the door for a few minutes while you and DH do your thing very quietly? ;) I know how you feel - I'm very uncomfortable doing it when we have guests, or at other people's houses.

charliezangel Talk about fertile-quality CM! So many things throw off temp and O dates, that's why charting looks more at trends than specific items.
Tell me about it. I always knew that i had heavy "discharge" and that's what I always called it. But I never knew until now how damn fertile I am!!! I know it's not an infection of anything because there is no itching or odor or disomfort.
And yes, this is my first cycle charting, so I guess i'm a little crazy about it. I'm hoping for that jump tomorrow, which means tonights BDfest will most likely be sucesfull!!! Thanks for the advice girls

02-04-2006, 08:27 AM
ok, my temp popped up this morning. So I'm pretty sure yesterday was O day. However, the BD fest was cancled last night because my stomach started killing me out of nowhere. I spent the majority of the night moaning on the couch with my pepto in one hand and my kitty in the other. Serious indegestion....at least that's what i'm attributing it to. although it could be constipation. LOL, TMI, I know. I'm just attributing it to stress, but it looks like this cycle will not be a sucess as we only BD once during fertile days, and nowhere close to the actual O day. I'm not even going to bother testing unless my temps stay up or AF is more than a week late.

My temp went up- and this is the earliest O date yet for me(CD20)!
Looks like we're cycle buddies this time Michelle, Lauren & Beth! Thinking happy thoughts for all of us!!
Lauren- I know it's hard, but I would wait the 16 DPO before testing, just in case. In retrospect, is it any easier to get AF, or go through the roller coater of getting a BFP and m/c? My mom had 3 m/c before she had my older brother, and 2 before me, so it still means that it's working. Don't lose hope.

Well good luck to the four of us and everyone else out there! I did another OPK this afternoon and it was very negative so I owuld guess that I O'ed yesterday. Thank goodness the O pains were so noticeable and I had that extra OPK in my purse. I'd still be thinking I had plenty of time otherwise!
So assuming I DID O yesterday or today that puts my O on CD15-16. My previous O's were on CD24, CD22, and CD20 in that order, so they have been earlier every month. I guess I assumed that because I was Oing my cycle was back to normal and that they were just longer cycles. Who knows? I'm just glad the cycles are getting shorter and not longer!

I don't think this charting thing is working for me. I have no clue what's going on...
Charliezangel:One of the things about charting is that you have to give it a bit of time. If this is the first month charting, it'll be important to be able to look back on the charts to see when you did O, when you did get AF, what your charts may look like. Charting isn't exactly the quick fix to get pregnant, but it is a good idea, if you do it, to do it for a few months to be able to see the patterns. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with it, but maybe try looking at some other people's charts to see if you see any similarities. You can do this through the FF website: Chart Gallery, "see charts like mine." Or, you could go to the first page of this thread, and just start clicking away.
As far as I go, I finally got my first set of real, solid FF crosshairs. :D Every other time, I have done it myself or had the dotted ones. And I have to agree with it for once! Keeping my fingers crossed! :) Only 12 more days to go.

...and today, my temp went way up - FF changed O day back to cd18. ARGH!!! So confusing!!!! I also have NO symptoms, PMS or otherwise. My bb's usually are pretty sore at this point in my cycle. Right now - nothing.
I wish I had started charting a long while ago so that I would understand better what is going on with my body :(
charliezangel
02-05-2006, 10:07 AM
Bellefior Have you Od yet?? If so, perhaps your cycle is just a bit short this month. How do you temps look? Before I went on BCP (back when i was in college) every few months I had some heavy spotting mid-cycle...and then would start AF really early...and then the next month everything would go back to normal. Maybe just your body's way of "recharging"??
Sare79 it is very frustrating for me. Not so much that I just want to get PG, but I also feel like I'm not doing something right. With the stress of grandpa being in the hospital, and grandma getting sick over it. Also the crap i'm going through with my sister, waiting to hear on this possible job opportunity, talking about moving in a few months, BLAH BLAH BLAH....My life is nuts right now. So when I look at my chart and can't figure out what the hell is going on, I feel so out of control. I am going to continue to chart. But I think we are going to put off TTC until July so we can get things a little more under control...also, it's not the best time with grandpa being so sick. Thank you though for your advice and support.

I forgot to set my alarm this morning so I ended up temping 2 1/2 hours later than normal. When I put my temp in FF, it changed my O date to CD 15 instead of 14. Hmmm... I guess I'll see what my temp is tomorrow morning, and maybe I'll just delete today's to see what it does... but I hate incomplete charts!

Hi ladies! Just got back from the ILs. I have no idea what time I temped Sat and today because there's not a clock in the room we stay in. I didn't think about taking my phone in there with me! Anyway, CD 7 today and AF finally did SOMETHING, anyway, even though it wasn't much. I started taking baby asprin and DH is taking vitamins and wearing boxers. I don't know why I freaked so bad this cycle. My best friend IRL is about 6months pg and is really showing now. Nearly all of my good friends IRL are either pg. or have babies so that's all I hear about. It just gets sad when you feel left out. I have just started charting, so I am not ready to give it up yet. If I dont get pg in a few more cycles, I may quit, but I want an idea of whats going on now. Anyway, I need to go. I'll check in again tomorrow!

I have a question regarding pre-seed. Since there are only 6 doses, what days do you start using it? Do you use it all 6 days before your expected O, or BD w/o it and only use it a couple days before? I really want it to work this month and I want to make sure all of my bases are covered.
Charliezangel - I was scanning down the page and I saw your BFP post and I thought you had one! I love seeing BFPs, so hopefully you'll get a real one soon!

02-05-2006, 08:46 PM
Delaney ....i used preseed this month for the first time....i'll let you know how it works out ;) We used it everytime we bded except once....i usually knew when we would bd so i put it in a few minutes before....i had 9 packets of it....3 from a friedna nd 6 in a box....i still have one left i think....it says on the box that you can put it in as far as 15 minutes before bding...good luck....i hope it works for you....
MichelleRenee
02-05-2006, 09:11 PM
I only used my preseed if I felt dry when we tried to BD. We just used it like that instead of our usual lubrication. I've heard it can limit the motility of sperm (slightly, but I'm desparate for a BFP) so I only used it if I had to. This month was our first with it. (we just didn't use anything during previous months TTC... the stress of timing everything made me feel a little more dry than usual so we decided to start using the preseed.) I guess we'll see if it worked for us!
Another thing I did differently this month was to drink grapefruit juice the whole month. The last couple months I would just chug a bottle the day I thought I would O and then we'd BD that night. This month I drank a couple small bottles a week. I didn't check my CM very much so I can't say for sure if it helped.
Also, I did one other thing different this month. I know some people use Instead cups to keep the spermies close to the cervix. Well I just stayed in bed for the whole night after BDing one night. I didn't even get up and get dressed. I had a towel under me in case of any spillage. I didn't notice any spillage and nothing came out the next morning so I am assuming most of it made it through the cervix.
Hopefully it will all help this month.

Delaney21...LOL, I thought about that after I posted. Hope I didn't psych anyone else out. I hope it is soon, but it looks like we might be putting it off for a few months. Just need to get things a little more stable, and also a lot of family issues going on. I still don't know if I've Od yet. I'm gonna convince DH to BD tonight...lol...maybe i'll catch it. Who knows.

Thanks for everyone thoughts/prayers and kind words about my grandmothers passing. We had the wake on Saturday and the funeral on Sunday. I should have taken today off because I am so emotionally drained but I felt guilty about canceling my patients today just so I could rest. I guess it is because of the dreaded "Catholic Guilt" thing! Thanks again!
Ok concerning my cycle, I am on CD18 and still no ovualtion although I did have a positive OPK this morning so I know it is around the corner (at least I hope it is). I usually ovulated between CD15 and CD17. I know stress can play a part with that but I am still alittle concerned. If I don't ovulate till CD19or CD20 will it affect my LP length. I already have a short LP and I don't want it to get any shorter. We have really made an effort to BD this month and I want to make sure we have a fighting chance. Oh well I guess there is nothing I can do about it. In fact stressing about it could make it worse, right?
I also have my annual performance appraisal tomorrow which I am not looking forward to...whoever does? So I am trying not to stress about that. We don't get merit raises (pet peeve of everyone that works for them) so unless I really screwed up, which I would know about it already, I will get the same raise as everyone else. But it is never good hearing from someone else that there are some areas that you are lacking in. Oh well next week it won't matter..at least I hope it won't. Here I go again...I better stop before I get more stressed out..LOL.
Sorry about no "shout-outs". This thread moves so quickly that I have a hard enough time keeping up much less commenting since I have last posted.

Well, FF has me as Oing on CD18, that was friday....the night I was so adament about BDing....and then I ended up getting sick so i went to bed early...Damnit. The only reason I am testing is because we did BD during my fertile time. It's a long shot, but i guess it's possible.
The other thing I noticed is that FF has me starting AF on CD33. That would give me an LP of 15days. Now, if I do start AF on my usual CD28 that would make my LP 10 days. Is it typically that shorty. I need to go back to my TCOYF book and re-read a couple chapters.

ptcrn Sorry AF showed. I can understand the jealousy, I feel like I'm surrounded by pg women myself.
Please move me to I think I O'd - testing 2/13-2/19, thanks!
My temp went up on Saturday, so that confirmed my O. I forgot to test Sunday (and woke up really late anyways) and then today's temp went way down. Not sure what that is, maybe just a random temp to throw out. I guess I'll see what tomorrow brings. So, I guess I'm 5DPO, haven't decided when to test exactly. Something about this morning is making me feel blah and I'm convinced it's not my month. Maybe just that it's Monday and working in a construction zone (major remodeling) totally stinks.

I have been using a Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor for the past 4 cycles but so far that has not been working. I thought I would give charting a shot (and I am going to try not to obsess too much  )
I am sure both of these questions have been asked but my searching seems to not pull up the answers (my search terms may just be wrong though). . .
First Question -- AF appears to have arrived (finally) . . . I started spotting last night and this morning I was spotting with a bit of bright red blood -- should this be considered CD1 for charting purposes? Usually I wait until I have full on AF before I consider it to be CD1.
Second Question -- what is more important testing at the same time each day or testing after having slept for a certain amount of time (according to FF that amount of time is 3 hours, but I think I read somewhere that 2 hours is okay too)?
I ask both of the above because I did not temp this morning -- DH and I woke up about 1.5 hours before I have been "trial" temping as we thought we had an intruder in our house -- not an intruder, just drunk BIL  -- he was lucky we did not have a baseball bat in hand because I would have hit him when I saw it was him. . . .
Anyway if today is CD1 I guess if there is a day to miss this would be the day.

Well I went out at lunchtime and finally bought some OPKs(thank God for self-scan check out) and went into the ladies room at work (talk about weird!). Negative OPK, which I somewhat expected because it is still early in my cycle in terms of average O date. Polkadot: I don't have one, but I was thinking if I go through three cycles with no BFP, I'd look into it. My cycles are so long and random that it's hard to know when O is really going to happen. I'd love to hear what others think about the monitors.
mayham: I agree! Let's break the record this month!
Bellefior: I started taking OPKs at lunch. It is very weird to do in the bathroom at work, but I drink water pretty heavily in the afternoon, so I was worried it was too dillute by the time I got home.
MrsR: I usually don't even start temping until after AF is gone. But I have long cycles, so I've got plenty of time to establish a coverline before O. CD1 is a pretty good day to miss, if you're going to miss one. :)

Okay, last month I spotted a little with ovulation, and earlier I noticed that I was feeling a little crampy.
When I went into the bathroom to check, there was quite a bit of red blood there. This is really weird. The thing that makes it stranger is that I've not gotten a positive OPK. Tonights test was negative, although I noticed a little bit more of a line than had been showing up.
Does anybody else get crampy when you O? This is a first for me, just wondering if anyone else does it.

Got a + opk last night after work. Woke up this morning with no temp rise but got another + opk...this one was very very positive. Just waiting for the temp to rise. We have been so good about BD'ing this cycle. I hope we don't "burn out" before I "O". It better happen soon. Like I posted before I am concerned that I am "O 'ing" so late in my cycle. I hope my lp length doesn't get shorter as a result. It is already bordering on being a problem. Of course the stress I have been under could have effected it...also with all the driving for the funeral/wake may be contributing as well. I definitely had a different pattern this past weekend.

Hi ladies! I'm back from my few days away, and nervous as anything about testing this week. Today is 11DPO and I had to fight the urge to POAS when I got up to use the bathroom at 4 am. Part of me feels like this might be it, but part of me feels like it's definitely not. I had cramping from Thursday-Saturday, sharp cramps that would come and go off and on each day, and last night I got completely exhausted at about 9 pm, just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. But no other symptoms at all! I have a feeling the days are going to be very long until I get an answer.

Mrs.Jackson - I get horrible O pains. Worse than AF cramps. I really think that I'm being a baby about it sometimes, but I feel good that at least I "know" that I've o'd. But that being said - OUCH!

Welcome MrsR! For your first question, I'd consider the first day of red to be CD1. If it was in the morning, did you get full-on AF later that same day? For your second question, the time of day matters the most, as long as you have at least 3-4 hours of sleep beforehand. So, if you usually get up at 7am, temp then. If one morning you wake up at 6am and need to use the bathroom, temp at that point before you get out of bed, because you'll only have an hour of sleep afterwards. Does this make sense? Temp before you get out of bed if you aren't going to go back to sleep for 3 hours after you get back in, and try to keep it at the same time of day if possible.
polka That is quite of list of testers for next week. Hopefully this thread will be onto volume 15 soon, but not with us! :D
MrsJackson Sometimes I get AF-like cramps when I O, but not always.
ABirney Awwww... boxers are so cute and sweet. Hope the kitties can get used to him soon.
gymwidow Such self-control with resisting the urge to POAS. ;) How much longer can you hold out?
6DPO for me, and I'm feeling crummy today. When I think my nausea and tiredness are FPS, it makes it seem better. But I also have a slightly sore throat and sinus pressure... I hope I'm not getting sick. Although feeling nauseous from a cold would be new for me, so it gives me hope.

Welcome MrsR! I agree with Bunnybeth's response to your questions.
MrsJackson ever since I have been off the BCP's I get AF type cramps close to my O. Sometimes they are stronger than AF, but are more centeralize on my right side.
5 DPO for me and I had a big temp drop this morning...hopefully that is a good sign.
Update on BIL: He was still having problems swallowing yesterday. After he met with his oncologist and GI doc they decided to put in a feeding tube. They are also going to schedule hospice care, which will be at the IL's home. BIL & wife have a 2 story house and the main bathroom and bedrooms are upstairs, which is getting difficult to get too. So they decided that the parents home would be the best, because everything is on one floor.
Good luck to anyone getting ready to test, hopefully this will be a good month for all of us! :)

I'm once again Waiting to O.
Thanks for all the replies ladies and the warm welcome.:D :D
bunnybeth -- I actually don't think full on AF has come yet. **********tmi alert********** I still have bright red blood but quite a bit of brown mixed in and my "flow" is not as heavy as it usually is. This may be bacause my last cycle was the shortest it has ever been (if you assume yesterday was CD1, it was only 4 weeks 4 days, my shortest cycle before was 5 weeks exactly). Got it on when to temp too (I hope  )
Anyway, I tested this am and will add my temp to my ff chart and then I can probably actually post a link to it (thanks for the instructions Sarah!!!)
QOTD -- I have a Clearblue Easy Fetility Monitor. I got it after one of my former bridesmaids raved about it -- she had really wacky cycles, used the monitor for 3 cycles and got a BFP. Her DD was born in December and she credits her monitor with getting PG. I have used it for 4 cycles and while the first 2 cycles it was right on -- it gave me a peak reading (meaning it detected a rise in my LH and predicted I would O in the next 24-48 hours) and I got AF 2 weeks later, the 3rd cycle was a long one so I did not have a peak day during my testing window (I should have bought a pack of OPKs but did not and now I am kicking myself for not doing that). My last cycle it gave me a peak reading very early on (CD11) but I did not get AF until almost 3 weeks later (maybe because I did not actually O last cycle). I think in conjunction with charting it probably would be very helpful because teh monitor detects the rise in your LH telling you that you will O in the next 24-48 hours, then charting would tell you if you actually O'd.

Took another OPK today and it still is negative, even though my temp dropped way down and I thought, given my past cycles, I must be O'ing soon!
Does anyone know where I can get some internet cheapies? I paid $17.99 for the CVS brand (7 sticks), which I know is a lot cheaper than some out there, but it is still a lot!

Thanks, ladies for your responses. I just thought that this was really strange. But I've also asked the question in here before about why my body is changing so much since we've started TTC. Sore boobs, shorter AF's, and now spotting mid-cycle. It's all very strange to me.
I took another OPK this afternoon, and there's actually a line there! It's not as dark as the control, but it's definetly there. Hopefully it'll be getting dark soon!
I've taken so many, and they've all been stark white. It's good to see a line.
Sorry no SO's, but today's kind of crazy. Hopefully I can come back tonight and do some!

Mrs. Jackson, I had a very similar issue with spotting midcycle this month (the last 2 days and it stopped today). I also haven't O'ed yet, at least according to my chart and temps, and my OPKs are still coming up negative, but like you, I also did see a faint line today whereas I saw nothing yesterday, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out!
ETA: Mrs. Jackson looks like we are cycle buddies this time around! What are you using for OPKs?

I haven't been here in ages!:o It's so hard to keep up! So a late congrats to all the BFPs!
Speaking of BFPs, I spy a MBFP!!!! Congrats to her!
Polkadot - I have a monitor and love it! It was a little rough at the beginning because I didn't get a peak until my third month using it! It was frustrating but now I love using it. OPKs never worked for me and I could never tell if the test line was darker and so on. The monitor takes the guess work out of it ;) I bought mine on eBay with a box of 30 sticks for $135, it was brand new in the box. And the best place that I found for sticks is amazon.com because they are $37 with free shipping! Good luck with it if you decide to get one!

Have you ever had this happen before? Or is this all new to you too?
Right now I'm using Internet Cheapies, but I'm half tempted to return to my usual brand of Answer OPK's. I just don't want to miss the big O, you know? :D
What are you using for OPK's? Do you have a 'special' brand that you like the best? I'm certainly feeling a little more comfy with the Answer brand, but this afternoon when a line finally appeared, I felt a little better.
Bellefior
02-07-2006, 02:21 PM
Mrs. Jackson this is my first month trying the OPKs and I went for the store brand (CVS). So I am clueless as to what a positive actually looks like (other than the instructions saying as dark or darker than the control line)! I was wondering if internet cheapies would do the trick, but I think if after a month or two or three using the OPKs doesn't do it, I might step up to a Fertility Monitor.
As far as the bleeding midcycle, I think a cycle about 3 months back I had spotting the entire week before AF showed up (we chalked it up to some stress at home that month). The only time I had midcycle bleeding before was when I was on the pill and I was told breakthrough bleeding is common on the pill due to hormonal fluctuations, so maybe that's what it is now???
JayJay
02-07-2006, 02:25 PM
That could very well be, I just find it weird that it's just starting to happen now. I've never dealt with anything like this before we started TTC.
The bad thing is that DH likes to know what's going on with my cycle, and when I tell him that I'm spotting, or anything like that he always stresses way too much about everything. He's really into it, and and I don't want to discourage him by not letting him in on things like this. Sometimes his stress levels about not conceiving right away and things starting to be different with my body are waaayyyy too high.

Ok, that was driving me nuts with the MBFP, but I finally found it. Congrats to the mystery tester!!!!
I am at CD9, took my 1st ever OPK this afternoon and got a line, but not as dark as the control, so - there. It's funny, I am the 3rd owner of this particular kit! A friend, now with a 3 month old gave it to my now 6 month pg friend, who just gave it to me. Only 4 sticks left, so I hope I O around the same time as last month (CD 14). It was cool to POAS and get a line, even if it's not a BFP. Anyway, gotta go!

Hopefully I"ll have a temp rise! (even though our timing wouldn't be very good, it would just be nice to O for once and see if my body still works!)

Hi guys!
I see you found my chart!
I took an Equate test this morning, and a very, very faint line came up after the time limit. It could very well be an evap line. I called the RE right away and went in for a BETA. Won't have the results until tomorrow. Still no sign of AF, though, and I am officially late. Plus I'm super crampy, but not AF type cramps, more of a dull pulling feeling. Trying to stay positive, but I don't want to be let down yet again either. So threadmistress, please don't move me over yet. I'd like to get the BETA results first. Plus I'm gonna test again tomorrow morning with FRER.
This was my first cycle after the HSG, so who knows....

Hi ladies! Sorry to be MIA for so long, but glad to see all the new babies on the way!!!
FH and I have been travelling in southern China for the past few weeks. It has been amazing, and, fingers crossed, will leave us with a very special souvienir... So I should be moved, tentatively, to Think I O'ed, testing Feb10th-14th or so.

jjsanner...can't wait to hear about your test this morning! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Quartercentury..thanks for stopping in! Hope you are having a great time.
Jess71903...I am so addicted to POAS. The first time I got a line I was hooked!!
Well I believed I "O'd" at least that is what my chart says. I do have a question though. I think I "O'd" yesterday, not today like my chart shows. I did get a OPK+ yesterday but I took that test really early yesterday morning (4:30am). Should I change my "O" date to yesterday or just wait to see what happens with my temps over the next three days???? I am very confused.
Threadmistress....can you please move me to "I think I "O'd" testing Feb 20th- Feb 26th".. Thanks!
I have another quick question...should we BD tonight? We have been bd'ing like bunny rabbits. I don't know if we will be too exhausted tonight but I want to optimize our chances. What does everyone think? Thanks.

Quiet on my end. CD12 today and I'm waiting for signs that I'm getting ready to O. Thankfully, it's held off so far this week since I'm travelling for work. Heading home tonight, so I'm relieved that our window of opportunity is still seemingly wide open this month.

So I tested with a FRER - BFN (but I can almost make out the faintest of lines), an Equate - BFP (about the same as yesterday), an Answer - BFP (very, very light line) and an Accu-Clear - BFP (definately a line, not as dark as I'd like, though). Yes, I am addicted to POAS. After so many cycles with NOTHING, I guess I just wanted to see those beautiful lines. So, after 17 months off the pill, and 9 months actively TTC #2, I **think** I'm finally pregnant.
If ya'll don't mind, I'd still like to wait for those BETA results. I should hear back by early afternoon, and I'll post the results when I get them.

armadillo Sorry AF showed. Good luck this time around.
MrsR You do mention the previous cycle was possibly anovulatory, so that could be why AF is weird this time around. (Do you typically have a very clear AF? Not the red/brown light flow?) I'd still count CD1 as first of red.
Bellefior Good luck catching those eggies! I got my tests from here: http://babywishes.org/ I got a 5 pack of the cheapest ones, and will be going back for more after this round of testing... if needed. ;)
Quartercentury Good luck with the upcoming testing. And, the trip sounds like it was really nice. I had a friend who went to China for a few weeks last summer and she loved it, and had some amazing pictures to share.

12DPO and a BFN this morning. I went for a blood test and am waiting for the results now. I'm mentally prepared for it to be negative as well, and while I'm sad I'm not nearly as devastated as I thought I'd be. I just want the results back so I can confirm that I can stop taking the prog. supps. and wait for AF to arrive.

jjsanner~ a tiny congrats, hoping your BETA will show great numbers.
I had my HSG today. It was pretty uncomfortable while they were doing it, but thankfully he told me when the uncomfortable parts were coming. As soon as it was over I felt fine. It really did feel like a bad menstrual cramp. Afterward we talked a little. He said my left tube is completely open and from the screen it looked like my right tube may be a little constricted. He said he will be able to tell more when he gets the hard copy. He did reasure me that you can get pregnant as long as you have one good tube. He said DH's SA looked good too. So he put me on 50mg. of Clomid for next month if I am not pregnant. He gave me a 6 month refill as well for the Clomid. He said though if I am not pregnant after 3 months to call the RE. I am due to ovulate sometime in the next week or so (I am on cd10) so I am hoping the HSG cleared out the cobwebs and we get pregnant this month.

I find this inspirational. My co-worker is 37, and is 6.5 months pregnant with her second child(her son is 10). It was a complete surprise. She was told that she only had one functioning ovary and she would only menstruate a few times a year. And now she's having a really good healthy pregnancy! So there's hope for all of us!

Brief vent. A friend of mine from college visited me this weekend. His fiancee (who is almost 38) is pg after they tried for only two months. I am really really happy for them, since they both really wanted kids and the clock was running.
But why, why, do people who get pg fast have to be so damn smug? After he told me, and I said "That was fast," he said, "I guess we must be pretty good at it." I couldn't help it and replied, "I guess that means we suck then." Then twice the next day, he said my DH should eat peanut butter sandwiches, since that's what he ate all the time. The first time I blew it off. The second time I said, "That's not funny." "My fiancee thought it was funny," he said. "Infertility is never funny," I said.
In every realm of life, but especially in this one, people who get lucky should not gloat.

I'm just dropping by to say that I still have NO FPS. I did have a weird few minutes this morning though. About 10 minutes after I got out of bed I started to feel a little dizzy and kinda queasy. It almost felt kinda "fluish" to me. Just when I was starting to worry that it was the flu, and eating a mint to help with the nausea it started to go away. I felt 100% fine within an hour.
Now I certainly wouldn't think of this as m/s because it is way too early for that. Could it be a sign of implantation? Who knows? This cycle has been a very fast one for me and the 2ww is flying by, so I guess I will find out soon!

Hi ladies,
Congrats, jjsanner! I hope those betas give you double or more tomorrow!
I agree with the insensitive stuff, jeant. Why do people think it's so funny that you can't get pg, and they can?? My problem is just that I am around a bunch of people who are either pg, or have new babies, so that's all they can talk about. I feel left out!
I am sorry about your BFN, gymwidow. I don't know how many more of them I can take. It gets harder every month.
ABirney- I hate that you haven't Od! Those long cycles must be torture! I hope you get to O soon and catch that eggie so you don't have to worry about it anymore! Wow, 10 kids! There are some families around here like that. I would think it would be incredibly hard, but they all seem really happy and stable. I live in the state with the Duggers, though. I think they are up to 16 kids now. I've lost count.
I am at CD 10. Another (-) OPK today. I came home this afternoon and jumped right in the shower (I had worked out). DH was in bed (he works nights) and I thought he was off tonight so I didn't make any moves to BD. Well, he isn't off and when he told me that, I started trying to get him in the mood. It just felt "forced" as he said. My fear is that it was start getting that way more often than not. Since he does work nights, we have to "get in the mood" when it wouldn't be natural for us (like tonight: just got home, gotta go somewhere tonight and just have a little time). Anyway, that's my vent. Hopefully O will wait until we can get some good BDing in.

ABirney That's interesting about your friend with the herd of children!!! It's sad sometimes though when people can just pop out kids when some of us have such a hard time. When i was 15 I went to a church with the best youth leaders in the world. They had a beautiful little son and they were trying for #2. The wife was an angel, litteraly the nicest woman i have ever met and such a wonderful mom. She just couldn't get PG. So I was at their house one day rehearsing for a solo that sunday and they got a call from one of the member's at our church. His wife was PG with #10 and C just broke down. She just cried and cried and said it wasn't fair that she couldn't have another baby and this other woman was on #10. I think that I have become a lot more sensative to fertility issues since then.
Jess71903 It's tough when you start to feel that sex is just a means to procreate. My advice would be to set a date for just sex....not to BD, but to make love. Forget about Oing and make it special again. If your DH is feeling anything like mine is, he probably feels like you just wanna have sex to get a baby. I'm sure this is not your intent, but I know my DH was gettin a little whiny this month "you never wanna just cuddle anymore" is what he said. So I told him that if he is willing to BD when I am Oing, then we will make time to be together as husband and wife. If he works nights, maybe stay up one night when he gets home and have candles and wine out, or take a bubble bath together on your day off. It will really make a difference. Good Luck
So I'm 3DPO and today I was feeling a little crampy. Not too much, but a little tightening. It almost feels like really dull O pain. I also have been tossing and turning and my night terrors are back. They went away for a couple months, but now they are back with avengence. I'm thinking about going to see someone about it because it is causing me to be exausted the next day because I'm afraid to fall back asleep once I wake up in the middle of the night. It's also affecting my temping time, which is throwing off my chart. I think that's why my temps were all over the place this last week.
I'm also concerned about my LP being so short if FF is right about my O day. If I stick to my typical 28-29 day cycle this month, my LP will only be 8 days, which doesn't seem like enough time for implantation. However, I have been insanly stressed lately, which could be throwing my whole cycle off. In which case, I'm crossing my fingers for no AF and a BFP shortly after Vday

thanks for the advice charliezangel. I know DH gets stressed out about TTC too. He wants it too. Truth is, I felt the same way he did yesterday. We do still have fun at it when it is not "that time". It just seems like the pressure is on for that week or so. He wants to know where I am in my cycle so he can make an effort too, but that also means the pressure is on during that time. Our sex life has actually gotten way better since going off BC, and not just for TTC, but because my sex drive is back (woo hoo!). I think the problem with him a lot of the time is just that he's so tired. He works 12 hour shifts and gets home after I leave for work in the morning. If he is working 2 nights in a row, I usually get home and wake him up around 4:30 or 5 and he has to leave again at 6:15. His body never gets used to the night thing, because he only works three 12s, or three 12s and an 8 a week, so the rest of the time, he is on a day schedule with me. Anyway, I guess that's a little long. I just needed to vent. I will think about the things you suggested! Thanks!

My temp came back up but man, I was restless last night. I ended up temping at 4 in the morning and calculating up because I was so fidgety.

Fingers crossed for everyone who will be testing soon :p
sare79 Good sign! I know what you mean about being fidgety. I've been able to sleep until abut 5 (I get up at 5:45) but that's it. Unusual for me, I'm usually waking up with alarm ;)
michellerenee I'm not having many symptoms either. More heartburn than usual, but I'm not "counting" that ;)
So, I'm on CD27, 9DPO. Since I didn't temp last month, I have no idea if I O'd late or not. In fact, I'm not even positive when I O'd this month. I thought it was around CD 15 or 16, FF has switched back an forth between CD 17 and 18. If I go by last month's chart, AF should arrive tomorrow. I've got zero FPS or PMS symptoms. More heartburn than usual, but thats it. I'm not going to test until Monday. We're going up to VT this weekend, so if AF isn't here by Monday then I'll test :) If I am PG, I want to save it for Valentines Day :)

charliezangel Thanks for your thoughts. Can't believe those women in your office. What is up with people? I guess they just don't think about other people's feelings and perspectives.
Sorry to hear you're having night terrors. My DH has those. My understanding is they are caused by stress and anxiety. If you see a doc about them, they might prescribe you meds (like Klonipin -- sp.?) to help you sleep -- especially if you mention how you are exhausted and it is impacting your life.

A serious WTF with my chart...another negative OPK yet I have EWCM (or at least what looks like EWCM)????
Thoughts anyone...I think I am driving myself crazy!
ETA: The line is slightly darker than it was yesterday, but definitely not a positive.

Thanks to all for the kind wishes. I'm still sad today and it's hard for me to hear about a friend's new baby (just born Saturday), but I'm just trying to focus on other stuff. I started spotting already today so hopefully AF will be here by tomorrow so we can get started again.
Deanna & Kimmer, good luck in your 2WW!
ABirney, I hope you can get to the end of this cycle soon, one way or the other!
Jess, you're right. We've only had 3 "good" shots at TTC since we started the Clomid, but it's been almost 8 months since we started trying overall and it does get hard as the months tick by. It's still early for you this cycle, so hopefully you'll get plenty of BDing in before O!
charliezangel, exactly! I'm sorry to hear about your troubles sleeping. I hope you're able to come up with a solution soon!
Sare, your chart is looking good so far!!!
BethIrish, I'm crossing my fingers for you!
Bellefior, give it another day. Your body could just be really good at producing EWCM! Hopefully the OPK will catch up with it tomorrow!

gymwidow That stinks that you got a BFN, but at least you're not letting it get you down. Hoping you have better luck next cycle. I agree- way to much waiting in the TTC world.
jodylovesscotty Here's hoping you won't need that Clomid.
polka My feelings go back-and-forth during the 2ww. I go convinced I'm pg to convinced I'm not the next day. Your chart is looking pretty good though.
jeant That was pretty insensitive. Boo to him. :p
jjsanner Congrats! The beta numbers have such a range, and you're really early yet. Hope those numbers double for you!
MichelleRenee I haven't been having FPS other than mild nausea, but it does seem a bit early for it, I agree. I guess only time will tell for both of us.
charliezangel I think you just had delayed O, so don't stress about short LP yet. ;)
BethIrish Your chart isn't crystal-clear, but I think there's enough of a thermal shift to indicate that you did O. Good luck with your upcoming testing!

Hi everyone! My chart is looking kind of wacky... my temps have dropped to coverline today and yesterday and I'm 7 DPO  I've never had a chart look like this one, but I can't tell if that's a good thing or bad thing. Anyone have any thoughts?
Will be back soon for shout outs!

Very confused and uneasy this morning. My temp this morning was WAY below the coverline. I did wake up at midnight last night to get a drink of water, then I tossed and turned for about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours before I fell sleep again. I woke up and temped at 4:30 am like I usually do and low and behold it was only 97.4. I even temped three more times to see if it was really true and it was. This has never happened before. Here is what i am thinking.....
a) maybe the temp was down because I didn't get enough sleep (definitely a possibility)
b) maybe an implantation dip (although I know it is too early to be having one of those)
c) maybe I didn't ovulate when I thought I did (please god don't let this be true)
d) maybe I haven't even ovulated yet (doubt this too but please please god tell me this really isn't true)
e) maybe I just need to relax and stop being so neurotic and see what my temp is tomorrow morning.
I am leaning towards a) and e). What does everyone else think about my very very low dip in temp? Help!!!! Thanks everyone for letting me ramble.

I too had a bit of a dip this morning. I'm not sure what to make of it. If I'm not PG this cycle, I'm getting OPKs for next cylce. Has anyone used $1 store OPKs before?? Are they acurate??
QOTD--How early is too early for implantation?? I'm 5 DPO and I had my dip today...Could this be an implantation dip???

Michelle Glad your 2ww is going fast for you.
Abriney Wow 10 kids. Sorry to hear about another long cycle for you it must be very hard to deal with.
Jess I agree with the others about making time for the 2 of you without thinking about TTC.
charliezangel From what I have read on FF and othersites your LP should still be the same length even with a later O date.
Bethirish Good Luck hope AF stays away.
Bellefoir I second what gymwidow said.
mayham Maybe it is a good dip and will go back up. Not sure what it could mean.
Deanna I would think it could be a or e as well. I would see what it does tomorrow.
QOTD From FF it can take place between 5 – 10 I do believe.
Temp question? The last week I have been waking up at 5:am to use the bathroom and go back to bed with this cycle should I temp at 5 or at my normal 7? TIA

CD28. 10dpo. My last cycle was 27 days. No sign of AF. No FPS. Nada.
And yet, I'm oddly calm about it! Not temping this weekend - we'll be away and I forgot my thermometer.
Deanna I'm going to guess e. Take a deep breath :) I know it's so hard not to analyze every temperature, but keep reminding yourself that it's all about the pattern not any one drop/rise. Good luck :D
charliezangelI think a lot of ladies around here use the $ store tests with good results. Good luck!!!!
Thanks for all of your good wishes everyone :) I will certainly be checking in Sunday night when I get home. I hope to see some BFPs when I get back!!!:p

CD28- 8DPO here. Most charts I see, the temps keep going up the more DPO, but mine are hovering a little.
I had a really weird dream last night. I went to the doctor and was being weighed and she said I hadn't lost enough weight to have a baby yet. When we went back into the office she said if I didn't get pregnant now, I wouldn't ever be able to. How awful is that? I have a doctor's appointment on Monday, so maybe I'm just feeling insecure.

QOTD From FF it can take place between 5 – 10 I do believe.
So it's possible that Deanna and I are experienceing an implantation dip!?!?!?! *Squeezes Deanna's hand in hope*. We'll see.

Hi ladies,
I notice some of you are questioning if you had an implantation dip. I had an implantation dip on DPO4 and DPO6. Unfortunately, not all dips result in pregnancy, my October cycle had a dip as well. (you can see my chart here with the dips for this cycle that I got pregnant on: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/22964
Hope your dips do mean that you are pregnant and you join us on the October Mommies thread. Good Luck

Threadmistress - please move me to "I think I o'd - testing 2/22"
Sorry I've been MIA. I'm trying to separate myself from the insanity I call TTC. I o'd right on time (cd 13) and I am planning on not testing until I'm late (I think). I'm going out of town this weekend and a longer trip next weekend and am thinking about not temping. We'll see! Good luck to everyone!

mayham The temps are down to the cover line, but there is still the clear overall thermal shift, and that's what matters. :)
Deanna I would say A and E. ;) Do not panic over 1 low temp! I had my temp take a nosedive for 1 day at 5DPO, but then it went back up the next day. The important part of charting is overall temps and signs, not the temp from a single day. I see that you've not counted that temp, and that seems good to me. :)
charliezangel It could be an implantation dip, or a random low temp. Only time will tell. ;) I *think* (someone, correct me if I'm wrong) that implantation is common 5-10DPO but it can happen later or earlier as well. (I think I remember a story or 2 of BFP's at 5DPO... though it's very rare!)
BethIrish You don't need to temp after O is confirmed, so it's a good time for a temping break anyways. Have a good trip!
Sare My temps haven't gone up that much, it's actually looking pretty similiar to yours. Hope your dr appointment goes well.
CD30, 9DPO for me. So far today, this is my first day without nausea. I'm left with a lack of FPS, which is making me slightly nervous. But, I think I'm still feeling hopeful overall. Is it strange to want my nausea back??? I'm just going to try to take it easy this weekend and not think about POAS at all. (Yeah, right.)

10 DPO here. Very little chance this cycle, so trying my best to think about next cycle. I still have hope, though. Something in the nature of humans to always hope for the best, I guess.
So as you know I am a big fat geek. :) So I went into 5 mommies threads and wrote down how long each woman took to get pg (for those who put TTC dates down). This yielded information on 136 pregnancies. Here are the cumulative percentages for how many are pg after length of time trying:
1 month: 19%
2 months: 35%
3 months: 54%
4 months: 61%
5 months: 65%
6 months: 68%
7 months: 74%
8 months: 78%
9 months: 80%
10 months: 83%
11 months: 84%
12 months: 88%
And then 12% of the pg women took longer than a year -- several 2 years.
This data lies somewhere in between other data I have seen. The numbers are considerably lower than those studies I saw about 45-75% of women getting pg on their first try. But these numbers are also a lot higher than the books (like The Mother of All Pregnancy Books) that say it takes women ages 25-34 about 6-8 months on average. Though this last figure presumably includes women who did not eventually get pg., which of course my data does not.
Geek squad over and out. :)
