The First Years is dedicated to providing parents with safe, high-quality products. In line with this mission, we have issued a voluntary recall of six liquid-filled teethers sold between July 2005 and January 2006 due to possible bacterial contamination. The liquid inside the teethers may contain pseudomonas aeruginosa and pseudomonas putida which can cause serious illness in children if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.

Consumers should stop using the teethers immediately.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers should place the recalled teether in its current condition in a sealed plastic bag and send to:

In the United States: Parent Service Center, RC2/The First Years, 100 Technology Center Drive, Stoughton, Massachusetts, 02072.

In Canada: KRG Logistics Inc.,170 Traders Blvd., East Mississauga, ONT L4Z 1W7.

Consumers should include their mailing address in the envelope to receive a replacement teether and free gift. For additional information, consumers can contact The First Years Parent Service Center at 1-866-725-4407, or by email at parentservicecenter@thefirstyears.com.

Thanks, Kates. DD has three of those teethers and she loves them. I can't remember when we bought them, but I bet at least two were bought during the recall period. I guess I have to find her some new teethers!

Thank you for posting this. We have the teether in the third picture - just bought it last month, and DD loves it. We're sending it back to them immediately. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting the info. DD was chewing on one of those teethers pictured as I read this. I'm now sealing it up to mail off. Thanks!
