ugh, i think a little m/s is kicking in for me too! :( I made waffles this morning for DH and I. After about three bites, suddenly all that sweetness just wasn't feeling right in my stomach and i felt so nauseous! :(

Welcome & congrats emermel! It's so nice to have so many repeat mommas around!
folic acid - my prenatal has 800 mcg.
symptoms - I guess I should count my blessings that I'm symptom-free. I was with DD, too. But geez, a little reassurance would be nice.

WELCOME!!! dzmattie and emermel!
Belly shots look great so far! I'm hesitant to take mine because it's mostly built in padding right now ;) but I should probably so that I have something to compare to later on!

Welcome dzmattie and emermel! Yes a positive is a positive, no matter how faint ;)
Pamela - Its funny that the nauseous kicked in for you today. I was in the same boat, no symptoms what so ever, then at 5am today I woke feeling so gross and the feeling stayed all day. No actually m/s just that feeling that it could hit anytime. In a way it makes me feel a little better.
The spa was amazing today even though I felt icky. All my technicians were so sweet when I expressed concerns with the treatement, and they made adjustments for me. Specifically in the massage they didn't really do much to my feet, aparantly its never too early to hit the pressure points that kick start labor. So FYI for any of you ladies getting massages during the next 9 months.

Boy - I just got a BFP yesterday and I feel like I have been hit by a 10 wheeler. :(
I am sick to my stomach, have a stuffy nose, my back is killing me (but I have issues there to begin with), and I have 6 toddlers and 6 moms coming here for playgroup in 1.5 hours. Ok - my pitty party is over...time to go back to functioning....:)
I will feel better soon right?? Talk to you all later!!

hi ladies,
I'm back from my trip. I was down in Nashville, TN for the weekend at a Vacation Bible School conference. We had a good time and learned a lot. We hit the Opry Mills Mall and decided to walk around on both Sat. and Sun. Jarett told me on Saturday that I could stop at the few children's stores if I wanted, only stopped in the Disney and Motherhood Maternity Outlets. Went to the hotel and slept for 3-4 hours. Sunday when we went back, I hit the Osh Kosh store, didn't see anything I liked, it was all circus themed for newborns. We than went to Carters Outlet as they were having a sale. I love my sales and lots of things were on clearance for $5-7 on regularly priced $18 items. I picked up an outfit or 2 and as we kept looking around by the time we were checking out, Jarett and I picked up 7 items, mostly sleepers though. (pics in my journal)
I have to go for another blood draw today and have my appt on Wed.
Welcome to all the new mommies, nice to see you here especially Emermel (another SWH member, we have just exploded in there)

Welcome and congrats to dzmattie and emermel!!!
Anyone else spend the Super Bowl in the bathroom, worshipping the porcelain gods? Ugh. I got sick right after I got home Friday night, and the next two nights I got sick at about 6pm, too. Not. Fun. At. All.

Thanks for the welcomes ladies! I am so excited to finally be able to join! I just called my doctor and made my first appointment for March 3...I'll be almost 8 weeks then. I remember HATING this part with Maya...that first month took FOREVER! I'll just have to keep busy, which really shouldn't be that hard with a 2 year old and planning to move!
We will be moving home to Missouri (we're in Arizona right now) at the end of June. DH just accepted a job there, which I am REALLY excited about, especially with a new baby. DD was born in Cleveland, so our families weren't able to be there. They are going to FLIP OUT! SIL is due with their second at the end of March, so the babies will be about 7 months apart. Our oldest kids are 11 months apart, so it will be nice to have them so close together and be able to grow up together!
So after I called the doctor, I connected with the woman who is going to be our realtor. I don't think that we could have possibly crammed more stuff into this year.

erm...yes! I had my first bout of m/s. I was happily watching tv, minding my own busines, and I got a tickle in my throat. I did a little cough to clear my throat and yammo! Actually it was almost like acid reflux (which i;ve also never had), because it really just came out of nowhere and I didnt feel nauseous, I just felt this massive burning in my throat and I couldn't breath. weird.
Does pregnancy cause acid relfux, cause that was really not pleasant!

I've had a little heartburn too...I know that it can be a real issue later in pregnancy (but I think that's due to anatomical changes)...I guess it can also be an early pregnancy thing.

welcome dzmattie and emermel!
goodness, this thread moves too fast for me to be able to keep up with individual replies!!!
nausea - hit me this weekend too. I was helping DH make a soup we both love (white bean, kale and sweet potatoes) and one of the ingredients is roasted garlic, which I love. The smell of that garlic absolutely wiped me out!!! I couldn't stand the smell - it made me so nauseous. I had to get into bed and shut our bedroom door to keep the smell out. thankfully that was the only nauseous moment.
I'm happy to report that my spotting (even though it had been really slight) seems to have really subsided. This makes me feel *so* much more relieved.
Hope that everyone seeing the doctor this week has a great appointment!

I still have not had any m/s. I do keep getting nauseous, but no sickness comes. THANK GOD! I really would love to go m/s-free. LOL! So, the longer it holds out, the happier I am. :) Per someone else's advice, I do have a sleeve of saltines on my nightstand, though ... just in case.
Sorry for you girls that spent a good part of Sunday in the bathroom. :( That could not have been much fun. Not looking forward to it at all.
We told my parents and sister at the Super Bowl party. Now my dad calls me "little mommy" and my DH "big daddy". LOL.

I am so excited to finally be posting here! I was really hoping that this would be the month. Not too much going on so far. A little more tired than usual, but it is hard to tell if it is pregnancy or just chasing around a 2 year old. No nausea yet, but it is still early:rolleyes: The only reason I really know that I am pregnant is the little stick with the 2 lines staring back at me.
I will be calling to make my first appt today. I already know that I won't be seen until I am between 9-12 weeks. I agree with Emermel, the month before you see the dr. is the longest month! I am a little envious of those who are getting in sooner.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you ladies and share this rollercoaster ride with you. I will be back to check in later.
Have a great day

First of all............. YAY STEELERS!!!!
Okay, now that that's out of the way - congrats to the newest members!!!! This group is going to be a nice big one! How awesome!
Sick - Not yet! Thank goodness. I figure I still have another good week or so before that begins. I haven't felt too bad though. I'm suprised since I felt at least queasy a lot at this point with the other 2. I've only gotten *queasy* a couple times like yesterday when I ate too much for dinner. I'll take this anyday though! I'm so sorry for those of you who are beginning the m/s period.
Otherwise...I'm doing great. I am still really bloated. I almost called the dr. on Friday to ask if there was any reason I would have this amount of bloating soooooo early. I figured they'd just say, "on the third time around you're bound to have less muscle strength, therefore tummy gets bigger quicker.....blah blah blah". So I didn't call.
Emotions - Ummm.....I'm like Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde (if that's even how you spell it). One minute I'm on top, happy as can be. Next minute? Biting DH's head off. He's used to it though ..haha. Somehow we did get in a discussion of baby names without it ending in an argument too! I couldn't believe that we agreed!

Welcome Mamabear! It seems like there are several of us that this is our second (at least) time around...many of us with kiddos around the same age. In a way, the idea of having 2 kids kind of freaks me out! I just remember how housebound I felt those first few months. Maya and I pretty much HAVE to get out of the house every day now...otherwise tantrum city... am I the only one?
I guess the 2years + spacing is pretty common, which is why so many kids start pre-school. Maybe I will look into that for after we move. I feel like there are so many adjustments that I will need to make with Maya...big girl bed (not buying a new crib), get rid of pacis, potty train...ok...and end of panic attack!
Hope everyone feels good today! Morning sickness...stay away! I have to take Maya to dance class now

Welcome mamabear!
TaterBaby - love the u/s and belly shots!
Rippy - that's cool you told your parents. We're waiting until after the first appt.
Heartburn - I had it bad the last trimester w/ DD.
Sick - just a wave or two of nauseau, but it passes in a few minutes.
Emermel - I know what you mean about the wait between your bfp and the first appt is like an eternity. I'll be a little over 8 weeks when I go and that's still two weeks away. But chasing DD keeps me busy.
Ericka_Jarrett - sounds like you found some good bargains!
Hope everyone is well!

Hi mamabear!
Sounds like everyone had a rough weekend. While I still haven't acutally thrown up yet, I didn't feel good at night again on Sat and Sun. But today, I feel fine--GREAT almost--and it's kinda freaking me out!! How weird am I? Basically, it's the first day in about 2 weeks where I haven't had sore boobs, light cramps, and a bit of sicky feeling. And now I'm worried! Ugh. I can't win for losing! :rolleyes:
So today I told my boss at job #1 (my main job) that I needed help lifting several of the large, heavy objects that go up high (they are awkward and weigh around 40 or 50 lbs). And I'm going to give my 3 weeks notice at the PT paint job either today or tomorrow (depending on when my boss is in). However, I don't want to announce my PG to the world yet. So I'm telling them I went in for a physcial and had some "women's problems" that I need to deal with, and I can't work the 2nd job. I live in a VERY small town, and if 1 person finds out, everyone knows by tomorrow. I feel kinda bad lying, but I figure it's my business. I've just never really had to quit a job without giving a very solid reason (ie, grad. from college, internship ended, moving, etc.).
Hopefully you're all doing well! Have a great Monday!

Welcome Mamabear, dzmattie, and emermel! Mamabear, my DD's birthday is 2/3/04, so almost twins!
Sorry I haven't been around much lately, was busy with work and planning DD's birthday party.
Not much to report--still some nausea unless I eat something right away. Although some of that could be from my prenatal vitamin, too.

Checking in here. I realized that I've feen following along really well but not posting.
This weekend was okay. Sunday was not the greatest. First of all the Seahawks lost, so that sucked big time. My IL's and BIL and girlfriend were over the watch the game. I noticed that I was very moody and probably not so nice at times. The big kicker though was when MIL began to steam the crab for dinner. (Granted they brought it for me because it sounded so good). Let's just say the smell was not so good. Literally had to sit next to an open window and fight off the urge to run to the bathroom. I still don't feel so hot this morning. The crab did taste good though. I literally had to keep it across the table until I was ready to take a bitel:rolleyes:
That's it for now, I need to get my first belly shot posted.
Question for everyone, how often are you taking your belly pic, once a week, two weeks, once a month??? Just curious.

Hi ladies. After talking to the doctor today, I have to drop out of this thread. I'm sorry. We don't know if I had a CP, or if the first tests didn't work proerly, or what. I'm going back for more tests... though the doc did say to continue to act like I'm PG... no meds, drinking, eat well, etc.
Anyway, good luck to everyone else. Maybe i'll get lucky and be able to join a November or December thread....

Pamela - Cute ultrasound and belly pics! :) I'm so happy for you that everything looks great. I've also been really sleepy all day long. I work in the evenings too, and sometimes just want to crawl into bed when I get home. Sorry that you're having some nausea. That was sweet of your DH to go to the store for you.
maplekitty - Yeah, my DH is still coming to terms with what it means for me to be growing another living person in my body. Although, just like your DH after I explained that I'm a little more tired than usual he understood. :) Sorry to hear that your feeling a little nausea these days. Hope today is going good for you.
marathongirl - Cute belly shot!
MidwesternGal - I can't remember if I said welcome and congrats to you already. If I didn't then congrats! :D My emotions are really wacky lately too. I haven't cried at any commercials yet, but have cried during a few of my favorite sitcoms. It seems to just happen on its own.
lawgirl4 - I'm so glad that your betas are looking so good. How is that body pillow working for you? I've been tossing and turning all night lately and am seriously thinking about stopping off at Bed, Bath and Beyond to pick one up. :)
Avalon - I'm a student too. Are you taking college classes?
dzmattie - Welcome and congratulations to you. I look forward to getting to know you too. I hope that your feeling a little better this afternoon.
Emermel - Congratulations! Waiting for my 1st appt. is torture too. I just want to know that everything is going good, but I still have another 4 weeks to wait too. Hey, I'm originally from AZ. All of my family still lives there.
Hula1974 - My baby is protected by a little extra padding right now too. I have been taking pics though. Just don't feel comfortable posting them for the world to see. :)
Ericka_Jarett - Welcome back! Glad that you had a great weekend with your DH. I've been wanting to check out our Carter store, but it's about 45 min. away in no traffic so we'll probably wait awhile. Glad to hear you found some good deals.
MamaBear - Welcome and congratulations! Happy birthday to your DS. (Good eye Rippy1010).
TaterBaby - Cute ultrasound and belly pics.
jbemommy - That sweater is too cute! :)
Hi Ladies,
Wow, this thread does move really fast. I looked at my last post and it was from the 3rd! I guess the weekend just flew by. DH and I took photos on Saturday. It was so much fun. I really like the pictures too. We had Valentine's Day cards made for the family. It's apart of my plan in letting them know about the baby. I'm going to send out the cards with a poem attached telling them that I'm PG. They'll be so surprised. :D
As far as symptoms go I'm not having any morning sickness (knock on wood). BB's are still sore at night if I try to sleep on my stomach, and most times I feel pressure in my utertus. Sort of like the baby is getting nice and comfy rearranging things down there. :)

My lower back was so sore at work last night! I hope its not like that again tonight. I woke up once this afternoon and wasn't feeling so hot, but just went back to sleep. I'm also keeping saltines next to the bed just in case! I'm noticing that I'm more sensitive to smells too -- I've been drinking all things through a straw the past couple of days because I can't stand how the inside of the glasses smell like icky water! The water here isn't that bad, but I can smell it! My stomache is feeling a but unsettled today, hoping its happy by the time I leave for work. Still having a bit of spotting, but it was a lot less yesterday.
Ericka_Jarrett, I am dying to go shopping for baby stuff! but I'm going to make myself wait at least a few more weeks, I'm afraid of jinxing it!
Cute belly pic Taterbaby! So glad I'm not the only one posting them!

Confession: I wore a pair of maternity pants to work today :o But boy did it feel good!
Happy to report, no more spotting so far but gosh I'm nervous still. I still feel like I FEEL a lot down there. Little twinges etc. And I find if I sit for a while, things hurt a little when I get up, like they are shifting again.
Oh - lawgirl, I really like how you put the subject of your post your week and day count. It's really interesting to see where people are when they talk about a symptom or problem. Hula1974 ~ LOL! We have been, silly! ;)
I have been having a rough morning. I have not gotten sick, but that is a complete miracle. I could not eat anything this morning, and I coud only drink water this morning. Any other thought of substance made we want to heave! I've been moving slow all morning to avoid unsettling my stomach any further and having to run to the bathroom.
Yuck.

Twylla, I'm so sorry to hear your news ... many, many hugs!
Just a quick hello and a quick question since I'm posting from work!
My question: For those of you experiencing m/s, are you throwing up, or are you having diarrhea? The nausea kicked in on Sunday, and yesterday I was sick three times, but it was diarrhea, not vomiting. Obviously I'm going to ask my OB about this when I go for my appt. on Thursday, but I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing anything similar.
Have a good day all. I'll be back to post again when I'm off work today.

For those of you experiencing m/s, are you throwing up, or are you having diarrhea?
I've only been throwing up. I'm actually having the, uh, opposite problem. I think I might be a bit dehydrated, because even when I can eat, drinking anything makes me sick. Although I did buy some preggie pops and apple sour altoids yesterday, and those things are life savers. Sour things definitely take the edge off my nausea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So today has been the coolest day of my pregnancy. I had my ultrasound appointment this morning and WE SAW THE HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!!! There was only one, despite my super-high betas, and I must admit that I was a little relieved. I'm measuring right on track (actually, a little ahead--6w1d) and they put my due date as 10/5 rather than 10/4. We could see the yolk sac very clearly and then a little blob with a flickering heartbeat. (It might have made me cry a little bit. :o ) They also measured my ovaries (not sure why). J was with me the whole time and loved it, although he was more than a little weirded out by the dildo-cam. ;) My next appointment is 3/6 for my first true OB visit.
I have no idea how I'm going to get any work done today. I just want to stare at the little print outs they gave me. :D
this is fun. :D
pickle, wow!! what an exciting appointment! mine is 2 weeks from today - I'll be 7 weeks so hopefully we will see the heartbeat too. :)
avalon - I had been constipated rather badly until this weekend, when I started having a similar problem as you...though it hasn't been that bad. I am guessing it's just the body's way of adjusting. I have only experienced nausea, no vomiting - but I am only 5w1d and I know some of you are a good week ahead of me.
pamela - my upper back has been aching! I think it might have to do with weird sleeping positions, though... I am also becoming ultra-sensitive to smells - it is so strange!
For those of you experiencing m/s, are you throwing up, or are you having diarrhea?
I'm not really throwing up yet, but I'm also finding that I'm getting constipated - which is very werid for me because I'm usually the opposite since having my gallbladder taken out many years ago. I'm making a point of eating my corm bran every morning, I've bought some dried apricots, and I might resort to some prunes (which I actually quite like, so they're not that bad!).
However, I think for a few days last week I did have crazy bad bum - so perhaps it's just how far along you are?? Perhaps it goes from one extreme to the next?
RE: Constipation ...
I read that the constipation during pregnancy is due to not getting enough water.
Re: Diarrhea
I have had that off and on. I thought that maybe it was just due to the changes in digestion due to the extra needed nutrients? That was my reasoning, anyway. I'm not sure if that's really why.
I could definitely see that....time to up the water intake!
Good point about the water, rippy. But water is one of my big culprits when it comes to nausea, so I'm hoping that sprite will suffice!
Cute stuff, lawgirl! I'm trying to hold off on buying baby stuff, but I did see one thing that I just had to pick up--a little onesie that has a graphic of the skyline and says "city baby" on it. I wish I could find a pic, it's so freaking cute!
I am actually feeling better today - I ate some Sweet and Salty Chex mix (my favorite thing ever) before I got out of bed and I felt so much better. I also find that potato chips and lemonade help my nausea - it was the exact same thing with my first pregnancy. Weird.
I bought a set of "days of the week" onsies - on sale at Gap.com. So cute!
(I just checked the onsies to post a picture - I paid $31 and now they are almost $60! Strange....)
Hi all!
lawgirl - great belly shots!
pickle - yeah for seeing the h/b! That's so exciting! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an u/s when I go to the doc in 13 days. I'll be over 8 weeks by then so we should be able to see it.
Bathroom habits - luckily neither has been a problem for me yet.
Today has been my first bad day with m/s. I never had any with DD so I was kinda caught off guard. It's not terrible, just general yuckiness.
My mom is coming up tonight since DH is away. I'm going to put DD in her big sister shirt and see how long it takes my mom to notice.
Pickle: Congrats!!!! That’s so exciting. Glad to hear everything is forming well. I have my next appt on Monday and am really hoping that I can see the h/b. FYI The stoppage below might be caused from the increased iron in your pre-natels. My doc suggested upping fiber intake and lots of water.
Avalon: I haven’t had diarrhea, but the consistency has definitely changed. Also I haven’t had actually m/s, just really bad waves of nausea.
Lawgirl: Cute pics & clothes! DH will love them.
QOTD re: bathroom issues - I honestly feel like I'm going to have issues all day long. Or for your Seinfeld fans...."an impending intestinal need" :D Literally all day I wonder if I'll be sent running to the bathroom. So far I've been ok though, but the crampiness feels like I might have to. I can kinda relate it to when you have AF and your just not right in that area.
As for nausea...never gotten sick yet but I feel like I could every time my stomach is empty. I've eaten a ton so far today. I keep having little snacks but they only last for a short while. I just ate a big lunch, hoping that will hold me for a longer period of time.
Ok, I'm really getting bummed. You'll notice I'm at the TOP of the due date list but I have nothing to show for it!! waaaaaaaahhhh I want to see a heartbeat too! I cannot wait until next Wednesday. Ok, enough of my pity party.
Still can't believe that I'm really PG...don't feel pg...actually, don't feel any different than I did before. It was the same with Maya too...I ended up taking 10 pg tests I think with her. I'm up to 5 this time. I think that I'm done though.
I remember my bb's getting REALLY sore with Maya, but I don't remember at what point it happened. I think that it was somewhere around 6 weeks, but I remember being almost in tears at one point when the dog stepped on me funny. :eek:
Has anyone caught themselves looking at maternity stuff yet? I am going to have to buy new stuff this time. We will be in Arizona for most of the pregnancy, so I will need summer big stuff, whereas with Maya we were in Cleveland, so I needed winter stuff starting pretty much as soon as I started showing. I am excited though, there is an Old Navy here that has maternity. If anyone needs me to check out any of their stuff for them before ordering online, I'd be happy to.
For those of you that this is a first pregnancy...just be aware (I didn't know this last time)...Motherhood, Mimi, Pea in the Pod...YOU CANNOT RETURN STUFF...don't buy ahead. Only buy what you need. They let you exchange for the first 10 days, but nothing after that. They do have nice stuff, and Motherhood isn't that expensive...just don't buy it unless you know you are going to need it (don't buy all Small stuff...you WILL get bigger) Target and Old Navy have cute stuff too and much better return policies.
Congrats and Welcome Michelle!!! :D
Havn't eaten much today because I've been running around like a crazy person! My SIL gave birth yesterday (2 weeks early) and her nursery wasn't finished, so we've been frantically setting it up before momma and baby coem home I think on Thursday. Thankfully everyone is all focused on SIL that they wouldn't even notice that I'm pregnant. (not going to be telling them all until after first U/S on March 3rd).
Havn't drank enough water today and I have a blasted headache!
And I'm noticing my boobs are already growing!! My bras are leaving very painful red marks at the end of the day! :(
Ericka_Jarrett, I really shouldn't believe in the jinxing of things either, especially after having a reassuring ultrasound. But I am totally afraid of being caught by someone we know if we're out shopping for baby stuff!
Hula, I've been feeling all sorts of twinges too, and it really does feel like things are shifting around sometimes! Weeks 4 and 5 I had such cramps like every day, but the past few days I haven't had any (yay!), but my lower back gets sore.
Avalon, my m/s seems to be when my stomache is empty (whan I wake up, when I get hungry at work). No actual throwing up yet, just feeling queasy. Other bathroom functions have been fine, although it often feels like maybe a problem is developing (my entire GI tract just feels upset some days).
Pickle, that is soo cool you got to see the heartbeat!!! I'm having another ultrasound on friday at 6 weeks 2 days and I'm hoping so bad that we'll be able to see it. That must have been the most amazing experience ever!
lawgirl, cute belly pics! And I love that baby outfit! I'm not sure why my lower back gets sore, I don't think I'm sleeping wierd. Its often worse when I'm sitting around during a quiet lull at work (maybe its the sitting around?)
emermel, thanks for the tips on stores' return policies! Thats rotten those places don't let you return things! I would think shopping for maternity clothes would be really hard since you don't know how fast or how big you'll grow or where you'll gain weight, etc.
Welcome Michelle!
OMG! Thank you sooooo much for that warning. I am a compulsive returner! I buy things when I see them and then continue to shop for something better. I'm totally guilty. Wonder why they have that policy. Very strange.
I confess though, I did buy a pair of pants the other day and happily wore them to work on Monday. I think I actually looked slimmer in them! lol No one noticed thank god.
Backaches - mine sometimes hurts when I get up in the morning.
Buying maternity clothes - if you live near a Kohl's they have some nice basic things and I think they are a bit cheaper than Gap or Old Navy. But my favorite two pairs of pants I have were from Old Navy. Target is also good for t-shirts, but Kohl's is definitely the easiest to return things to.
It only took my mom 8 minutes from the time she walked in until she realized what DD's shirt meant. So now my parents and sister know. They are all very excited. I still have to tell my brother but he can't keep his mouth closed to save his life. We're telling DH's parents when they come to visit next weekend.
6:30!!!! I told my DH to wake me up around 7:00 so that I could work on homework, and he woke me up around 7:25pm. I said I was too tired, and rolled over on the sofa and went back to sleep! He woke me up at 10:00 and said "c'mon, let's go to bed.". And I slept straight through until his alarm went off this morning! :eek: :o
* I know I'm a little behind but with 2 kids it's tough to get on as often as I'd like*
With that said, I had to comment on the constipation/diarrhea issue. I've found in my other 2 pregnancies that this is totally normal. Constipation can definitely be from lack of water or from the iron in your prenatal vitamin. I found that diarrhea though can either be from normal body changes or if you are taking a vitamin that has stool softener in it but you aren't constipated. I had this problem with my 2nd. The doctor automatically gave me a prenatal w/stool softener. After having problems for about a couple weeks I took myself off of the vitamin and all was better. Shortly after, I went on a prenatal w/o stool softener and was completely fine. Just thought I would put that out there for anyone suffering with this!
Morning Sickness - It's creeping up ......... actually it's planning an ambush! I have been getting progressively sicker every day for the past week. I started off w/no sign of m/s. Then a couple days ago I had a wave or two of nausea but nothing unbearable. Yesterday I started to plan an escape route from my desk at work to the bathroom. Today?!? I didn't even think I was going to make it out of the house to go to work. I was really sick! I haven't thrown up but I would have rather thrown up this morning and gotten it over with then felt the way I did. :(
Tired - Oh my............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........that's all I have to say! I'm exhausted!
Hope everyone's feeling better than I am today!
*****************************************
so, after about 3 days of no spotting - I started again, late last night (woke up at midnight b/c DH's cell phone rang, grr; had to pee so I got up) - and saw the usual brownish spotting I had had all last week on the tp. aargh! I slept *horribly* from midnight until 6:30 - waking up constantly because I was worried. If it gets any worse today I will go to the dr tomorrow - but I am just wondering if I am going to be one of "those women" who spot throughout the pregnancy for an unexplained reason. I have to say, it sucks! Makes me nervous all the time.
nausea - definitely felt it this morning, and my natural reaction was to go eat a cracker. I am beginning to see the logic of the "nausea is worst on an empty stomach" concept.
LawGirl:
I spotted from about week 7-10 with Maya. What my doctor told me at the time is that it's pretty normal to spot brown around the time that you would have gotten your period anyway (so around week 4 and around week 8). Although it's probably worth calling your doctor about, it is probably nothing serious.
REALLY BLOATED here. I look like I am about 4 months along instead of 4 weeks! I am slightly constipated and gassy (I know, TMI...but who else am I going to share it with ;) ) so that must be what's causing it-or I am pregnant with quints! This happened last time too...I just got really distended.
Other than that, no real symptoms yet. BB's aren't sore, I get a little run down in the afternoon, but I lay down and sleep when Maya is napping. No M/s, but I didn't have any with Maya so I have my fingers crossed this time. I actually have been WIDE awake as soon as we turn off the light. I think that it's just because we have SO much going on, that my brain turns on as the lights go off.
Good morning, ladies!
Sorry that I haven't been around in a couple of days. My MIL stays with us a couple of days a week to watch DS, so I don't get alot of computer time when she is here. I did want to thank everybody for all the warm welcomes!!
Wlecome Michelle and She-Ra!
Still not alot of symptoms. I do have the little crampy twinges now and then. Of course I usually run to the bathroom to make sure that there is no bleeding. I am so paranoid! Especially since most of our family already knows. I have such a big mouth and couldn't help myself. :D Like Emermel, I too am pretty bloated. I can feel it. I have to take a picture in the morning before the bloat really starts. No sore bb's yet either. They were really sore last time, but I can't remember when it was.
Maplekitty- congrats to your SIL!
Maternity clothes- I have been looking. I plan on doing some shopping when I get my state tax refund! I love Old Navy. Cute stuff, cheap. I do have to start looking for a dress. Some friends are getting married in April. I want to look pregnant and not just "boy has she put on some weight" fat.
Threadmistress, my first dr's appt is March 21. I will be about 10 weeks. I know I will have pap because I am due. She will go over everything, give me a bag with goodies, and try to listen for a heartbeat. Last time, we heard it at 9 weeks. We were lucky to hear it so early. I will cross my fingers again for this time.
I promise to try and keep up with this thread. It move so fast!! I hope that everybody has a great day.
emermel - thanks for the info about spotting in your first pregnancy. I know it is very normal for a lot of women, so I am just trying to be calm about it. On the up side, it only happens when I wipe - nothing on the pantyliner. I do think that seeing my doctor would be reassuring though, since my appt isn't for another 2 weeks.
Hi Ladies,
I head to the doctor in about 2 hours for my annual, which is now also what I am considering my first OB appt. I didn't get a call from the nurse yesterday with my 3rd set of Beta #'s though, so that makes me a bit mad. This last draw I had hurts like crazy. The woman kept pushing deeper with the needle and twisting it as well. (note to self, make sure to just go to the lab in the office)
I will hopefully find out how far along my doctor thinks I am for sure. According to the calendar I would be due the 4th of October, thus making me 6 weeks exactly today. We shall see. I pulled the body pillow out yesterday and slept with that last night was so much better since I am a stomach sleeper. Woman from my church that moved last year, wrote me an e-mail yesterday and was saying that she was thinking of me and Rebekah all day and wanted to just let me know that Rebekah is not forgotten. Can't wait to send the e-mail back with our news, she is going to go nuts.
Ugh, the m/s has set in. When I saw my dr. last week, she said it usually starts around 6-7 weeks. I was so happy last week because I felt great, but WHAM! I am nauseous all the time, especially on an empty stomach. I haven't thrown up, but often feel like it would make me feel better if I could.
Exactly one week until my next ultrasound to see the heartbeat! I can't wait.
I have looked online a little at maternity clothes, but will try some on in person first to see how the sizing is going to work. I have found a bathing suit that I must have and will be so disappointed if it sells out before I get it, so I may go ahead with that purchase.
QOTD: Have any of you thought of nursery themes? I am so excited to decorate!
Taterbaby I'm right there with you with the m/s. Haven't thrown up yet, I think last time that started around 7 or 8 weeks, but I was very nauseated in the am. I'm going to try start taking my PNV in the evening instead of the morning because I don't think it's helping things.
QOTD: This baby will either share or take over the nursery from DD. It's done in a moon and stars theme since we didn't find out what we were having. Haven't completely decided what to do with DD, DH wants to move her down to one of the basement bedrooms, I'm not so sure.
Morning everyone--
My morning sickness has gotten much better...I'm still throwing up first thing in the morning, but during the day I've been able to eat/drink without feeling sick. I've found that anything sour (apple sour altoids, preggie pops, salt and sour chips, etc.) really helps. And I've stopped trying to force myself to eat healthy foods for the time being. I figure it's better to eat edamame for dinner if that's what sounds good than to force myself to eat something that will just come right back up. Also, I take my vitamins right before bed and that has helped.
lawgirl, I'm so sorry the spotting is back. I can imagine how nerve-wracking that must be, even if it probably doesn't mean anything.
Maplekitty- congrats on becoming an aunt!
Welcome and congrats Michelle and She-Ra!!!
Good luck at today's appointment, Ericka!
Mamabear, I have a wedding in mid-April too and I'm hoping to have a cute, obviously pg belly not a "she's really gained weight since college" pudge! I'm hoping that I won't need a maternity dress and can just get away with something in an empire waist...
QOTD - I have a general idea of what I'd like to do for a nursery. I think I prefer white furniture, and for a girl I would like to do a pink and green theme (I can't decide if I would do it in brighter, Lilly Pulitzer style prints or softer, more "babyish" pinks). For a boy, I think I would do a nautical/sailing theme. Of course, we're moving before the baby gets here, so all this could change once I see what our new place will look like!
Nursery QOTD ~ I prefer the black furniture. And I've had my eye on some patchwork style bedding that is in maroons and sages. But, don't really know of a nursery theme yet. My "theme" might just be the colors that will coordinate with the bedding. I've been perusing the "post your nursery pics" thread, and there are a ton of great ideas on there!
QOTD: I'm not sure what I am going to do about nursery. We intentionally picked pretty gender neutral bedding for DD, thinking that we would use it again, but I don't know if I will be able to resist. When DD was born (and now too) we were renting our house, so I couldn't really do anything fun. This time around, we will have moved into a house of our own (hopefully), so I will be able to do something more for both of them. Not sure if I will have the energy, but I will sure want to do something!
QOTD #2: For those of you who this is baby #2 (or more), especially those of you who have kiddos around the 2 year mark...When do you think that you will tell DC #1 what is going on?
mini-update - spotting seems to have let up a bit. and here's what I am thinking - I had been using Progesterone cream all last week, and started feeling so confident that I stopped using it for 2 days - yesterday and the day before. Lo and behold - my spotting started at midnight last night. there's probably a correlation there. I'll definitely mention this to my doctor - and I'll keep using the cream in the meantime!
******************************
pickle - glad you are feeling better! good to know that sour things help with the m/s - it's funny, I've been craving san pellegrino limonata (sparkling lemonade) - and it always seems to settle my stomach.
ericka_jarrett - my nephew is named Noah, and there's so much cute Noah's Ark stuff out there - it'll make a lovely nursery theme :)
Good question, emermel! We haven't really talked about when to tell DD, probably not till I really start showing so she can understand the baby is "in there". I think it will be fun to tell her! I did think of teaching her to say "mommy's having a baby" so she can tell the grandparents, but I don't know if we'll do that or not.
Well ladies, just a word of warning: for those of you who are constipated....don't eat too many dried apricots - as I made that msitake yesterday thinking it would ease up the situation. Well it eased it up alright, all....night....long. I've never heard my stomach make such horrificly loud gurgling/grumbling noises before!!! :eek: I was finally "finished" this morning around 3am!! Argh :(
~~~~~~~~~
QOTD: I've had a file folder of nursery ideas on my computer since we first got married, LOL. I have them all divided into boy-soft, boy-bright, girl-soft, girl-bright. I can't wait to finally find out what we're having so I can start! However we don't get a lot fo the stuff as you all do in the states, so that either means a trip acorss the border to Seattle, or ordering from ebay.

Wow, 6 weeks today! It feels like a mini-major milestone!
marathongirl, I don't think I have a kohl's nearby, and our gap and old navy don't have maternity clothes, but I figure I can just order them online and then return stuff to the stores. At least I'll be able to go in and try stuff on at Target.
Rippy, I've been so tired too, all I want to do is sleep! I got home from work yesterday at 8:30 am, slept till 4pm, went back to bed at 9pm and slept all night, then didn't get up today until 10am and I still want to go back to bed and sleep some more! I've got four nights off coming up, and I think I may just hibernate the whole time.
kenswife, does the morning sickness get better if you actually do throw up? I sure feel queasy, but no actual puking yet.
lawgirl, sorry to hear you're still spotting. I've managed to not have any the past day and a half, but I've been in bed for the majority of that time, so maybe its just the not standing up that made it stop. Even though its probably perfectly normal, its still worrysome.
emermel, I think my brain turns off way before I go to bed! I am just So tired!
Mamabear, I wish I had a wedding to go to this summer! I want to look all cute and pregnant in a maternity dress! But we don't know of anyone planning a wedding this summer. I guess I can still find a cute dress and wear it anyways!
Ericka_Jarrett, good luck at your appointment!
Taterbaby, your doc said m/s starts at 6-7 weeks, did they say when it should stop?? I haven't actually puked yet, but I think I've had enough anyways!
Pickle, thanks for the tip on sour things for m/s. I'll have to pick up some sour altoids!
Maplekitty!!, I once made the mistake of eating too many dried apricots when I was in college (I just like them Way too much!), and I nearly died!! And as if that wasn't bad enough, I thought to myself a week later, maybe it wasn't the dried apricots, maybe my system was just upset for some other reason, so I ate a whole bunch again! And the same darn thing happened (imagine that :rolleyes: )!
QOTD: Nursery - I haven't decided for sure on colours and themes yet, though I would like to make my own crib bedding. I've been so excited to paint the nursery since before I ever got pregnant, but we're moving into a brand new house and they've painted the walls a really nice buttercream-ish colour, and I'm afraid I may chicken out on the whole painting thing! I think we'll probably go with light wood furniture, or possibly white if its a girl.

How will you decide what sizing to get for something that you won't use until the warm/summer months?
I've been trying to figure that one out.
Well, this particular suit comes in S, M, L, XL, & XXL and their sizing chart says "maternity size is the same as your pre-pregnancy size." I would normally wear a L, but since the vacation I would be buying it for is in May, I may go with the XL. I don't really know how to judge it either, but I figure it's a tankini and both the top and the bottom have ties so I can adjust accordingly.
Here it is if you're interested. It's so me and I must have it.

Doctor did a re-culture to make sure the thing I had with Rebekah is not back. She said that the baby seems to be in my uterus which is great news. I am about 5 weeks along and she gave me a script for an u/s for next week, than will see her for an OB appt in about 2 weeks and than another u/s. My Beta was about 2,539 and Progesterone was 17. She had me get another draw and my beta should be in the 4000s and my progesterone should be about 20, if not than she may have me take the premetrium 2 times a day instead of 1. But otherwise she said things seem to be going well. She said she will run more tests and more visit as I approach the 20 week mark, she would rather be safe than sorry. She wants me to have a healthy baby .

Telling DS - we already asked him if he would like a brother or a sister - he 100% of the time says "brother, no sister". It is quite funny. We told him that "mommy is having a baby" - so he kind of knows what is going on. But we don't talk about it alot to him b/c he really doesn't get it.
I am starting to think maybe having a toddler and being pregnant is easier than working - he took a 3 hour nap today and so did I!!! Obviously I never could have done that at work! (I am a SAHM now.) I am sure it will get harder on days he doesn't nap, or I have to lift him alot but today it was easy!
We all have terrible colds here - yuck. I took Tylenol but don't really think I am supposed to take anything else - Sudafed especially. Doc said I could take Benadryl at night but that was it - it is a Cat B - I don't remember taking ANYTHING during the first 12 weeks with DS so I am being really careful...

My doctor gave me a list with my first pregnancy. They suggest staying away from meds for the first 12 weeks of course, but otherwise it says you can take:
Decongestants - Sudafed (pseudoephedrine), Robitussin CF, Tavist D and Ocean Mist nasal spray
Cough/Cold - Robitussin for cough and Robittussin DM for non productive cough
Pain - Tylenol
Antihistamines - zyrtec, claritin, benadryl and dimetapp

I saw about sudafed too. being OK during pregnancy..I was taking it the 26-30 due to travelling with a terrible cold...I HAVE to remember to bring that up to the doctor. I hope that everything is OK...I totally forgot about that :confused:

kenswife, does the morning sickness get better if you actually do throw up? I sure feel queasy, but no actual puking yet.
For me?!?! Absolutely!!! When I would actually get sick I'd feel completely normal for a good couple hours or even the whole day. The feeling like "I'm going to throw up" is what I have right now and it lingers around for what seems like forever.
TaterBaby - I love that swimsuit. I was planning on getting the black and pink one myself. They have a solid color one that I like too which is pretty much the same idea.
Nursery - We have 3 bedrooms in our house. Right now the girls each have their own room. If this baby is a girl, we will just have my middle one room with the baby and my oldest will keep her own room. If it's a boy, we will move the girls in together and the boy will have my oldest's room which is already painted light blue. Fortunately, I already had boy bedding by Wendy Bee that is more appropriate for a boy so if it's a boy, I'm all set. If it's a girl I'm set too since I already have the bedding for my lil' one. I'd like to use my Wendy Bee bedding though ;)

hi everyone :)
just wanted to update you all... I couldn't believe it, but I had bright red spotting today when going to the bathroom. almost fainted when I saw it! I called my dr and I'll be going in for another beta tomorrow morning, as well as an ultrasound. feeling nervous but also looking forward to it. I left work early, which was nice... haven't had any more red spotting since that one occurrence. I'll be sure to post tomorrow as soon as I get to a computer - in the meantime, would appreciate positive thoughts :)

lawgirl4 - I'm so sorry that you're going through this! I'm sending you positive vibes for you appt tomorrow!
Avalon - I've just started having an upset tummy at different times throughout the day, but nothing has come out (thankfully) from either end. Hope you're feeling better.
pickle - Thanks for the tip about eating sour things to help with nausea. Lemonade worked well for me last night. Congratulations on seeing the heartbeat of your baby. It makes me that much more excited to see mine in a few weeks. :)
marathongirl - It sounds like your Mom was so happy. What a great moment that must have been when she noticed what your DD's t-shirt said. :)
Michelle - Welcome and congratulations.
She-Ra - Welcome and congratulations.
Ericka_Jarret - I'm glad that your appt. went well. Did the doctor change your due date?
TaterBaby - I was so happy last week because I felt great, but WHAM! I am nauseous all the time, especially on an empty stomach. I haven't thrown up, but often feel like it would make me feel better if I could. Wow, I feel exactly the same way. I have more of an upset tummy, but don't feel like eating because nothing really sounds good. Hopefully it gets better. By the way, I LOVE that swimming suit. It's so cute.
maplekitty - I was wondering the same thing last night. My stomach started really hurting around 3AM. We have Pepto at home, but I didn't think it would be safe. This morning I checked online and Dr. Sears says that it contains salicylate (similar to what's found in aspirin), and bismuth which are both harmful to the Mom and baby. The article suggested Immodium AD, but to check with your OB before using just to be on the safe side.
Hi Everyone,
Man I'm so tired tonight. It's a late night at work and I can't wait to go home and cuddle up on the couch with my DH. My tummy was acting up off and on all day today. It's just upset at this point, no vomiting or anything else. I know that I didn't drink enough water yesterday so I wonder if that had anything to do with it?
QOTD: Nurseries.
We're going to look at furniture in the next week or so. I really like the Madison Changing Table system from PBK, but it's pretty pricey. I'd like to find something comparable that's a little less expensive. For colors, we have to go gender neutral, so we'll probably use light green, yellow and creme. I was watching a Baby Story this morning and I loved their decorations for a gender neutral room. It definitely gave me some ideas.

I am so tired tonight! After I write this, I will probably go and fall asleep watching the Grammy's.
QOTD: Nursery themes- we went with a gender nutral theme for DS. If this next babe is a girl, there will be so many girly pink things in there. If it is a boy, the room will pretty much stay the same except that I will get new bedding and different accents to make the room different for the new baby.
QOTD #2 We have been telling DS that there is a baby in mommy's tummy, but he really has no clue. I am not sure if he will really understand until we actually bring baby home.
Sorry about the m/s Tater. That bathing suit from ON is so cute!!
Lawgirl I hope that there has been no more spotting and that tomorrows u/s brings you some reassurance.
jbemommy What a cute way to tell the Grandparents the big news
Pamela You don't need a wedding to get a dress! Although you could crash a wedding (we just watched the Wedding Crashers :p ) Go out for a romantic dinner with DH.
Erika- Sounds like you had a good appt. It sounds like your dr. is very pro-active.
Maplekitty Sorry about your tummy troubles. I remember one time durring the 2nd trimester that I started having really bad pains. I thought for sure that I was going into labor. I made my DH race for MIL's house. I will spare you the details but let's just say that I was really embarassed to set foot in her house for awhile. It was that bad!
Lily I think I watched the same Baby Story you are talking about. They picked out some gorgeous things for the nursery!
Not much going on here. DS has been sick. I am really hoping that he doesn't share his cold with me. Other than that, I am going to watch some t.v. with DH. Hope that you all are having a good night.

lawgirl - {{{HUGS}}} I hope the doc can give you some reassurance!
maplekitty - even though we have DTD, I'm still pretty nervous, so it's not much, ummm, fun for me.
pickle - yes the sour flavor definitely helps!
I missed a lot of pages so I hope I can catch everyone for SO's!
Nursery - we will probably keep it the same. It's blue and yellow with a fish theme. I am getting nervous about moving DD to another bedroom and into a big girl bed. She's such a problem sleeper as it is and she's finally viewing the crib as her bed. I don't want to have to buy another crib.
Telling DD - she will only be 17 months next week so she has no clue. I don't think she'll notice anything different until right when DC#2 is close to arriving. She will have just turned 2 when DC#2 gets here.
Ericka_Jarrett - I love the blankets! I do some quilting myself.
Gotta go! DD needs breakfast!

Lily - yes, the doctor said that based on when I O'd I would be due around the 9th of October. If I O'd on CD15 then my due date would be the 4th, but since I O'd later, I am due later. It's ok though, only a week difference. :)
Me - My doctor is being very cautious this time around with everything. She was telling me she would rather overkill my care than to skimp on anything.
Stay away from Pepto as it contains aspirin, you can use Tums, Rolaids, Gas-X, Mylanta, Tagamet or Zantac. Of course always check with your doctor to be sure though.

Lawgirl - What a terrible thing to have to go through. Hopefully the doctor comes back with some reassuring news!
Maplekitty - It's funny b/c you would think that with this being my 3rd time around that I would be a little more "worry-free" Definitely not though! I am scared to death of DTD. I've avoided it a couple times. I think after my 1st dr.'s appt. I'll feel a little bit better.
Pickle - I agree w/the sour thing! Only sour or salty things seem to ease my stomach at this point. I'm glad this only lasts for a small part of the pregnancy!
Telling the kids - My oldest has been asking for another sibling for a while. She'll understand since she's 5 but we're avoiding telling her until we tell other family members b/c she's a blabber mouth :) My younger DD will not have a clue. She's only 11 months right now. When the baby comes she'll only be 1yr and 7 months old. We'll tell her that mommy has a baby in her tummy b/c she likes to crawl all over me but I don't think she'll get it until the baby's actually in the house, in front of her.
?Question? - Well 2 actually....
1. Has anyone decided on names? I know this was briefly brought up in the thread but I'm curious if anyone is as anal as me and has picked names out.
2. For those of you working and have m/s. If you haven't told your boss yet, how are you "hiding" the fact that you're sick. I'm having such a hard time staying focused when I'm trying to decide how I can get to the bathroom if I feel the sudden urge to get sick.
Rippy1010
02-09-2006, 06:45 AM
kenswife ~ 1. We have 2 definite names (1 boy, 1 girl). So, don't feel strange or anything. ;) and 2. I haven't told my "boss boss", and so I just try to stay focused on what he's saying and not focus on the quesy feeling. And I take deep breaths. I also eat something before I go in to his office for a meeting, and I also use the bathroom just before going in. :) The two people that work near me know because of the calling for doc's appointment (eavesdroppers .... :rolleyes: ), and having to pee all of the time.
taterbaby ~ I saw that bathing suit when perusing Old Navy for a dress. I love the blue/green one. And, I think they have the same suit in a couple solid colors that I liked. Now I don't remember for certain.

kenswife - 1. for names, we are not sure this time around, we haven't really talked about it yet. Hubby would like our kids to have his initials, but his son already has them and Rebekah had them as well. I can only think of so many names with R and J for middle.
2. No m/s at this point, but since I am a SAH no need to tell anyone.

Maplekitty- I am not so much scared to DTD as I am so tired right now. I just really have no desire. I am kind of hoping this pregnancy will be different from the first. I would always hear people talking about an increase in their sex drive and I had the opposite. I had no drive at all. But you are definately not the only one who is scared.
Names- The name we chose for a girl the first time around just doesn't do it for us this time. We can't agree on a boy's name. So to answer the question, no we haven't decided on names. I am sure we will really get down to it in the next couple of weeks as this pregnancy becomes more real to both of us.
M/S at work- I haven't had any m/s yet (knock on wood), but I have told my boss already. I work in an animal hospital and I wasn't sure if there was anything that needed to be avoided and we are ordering new uniforms. Kenswife- is your boss near you so that you would be seen dashing to the bathroom? Walk quickly but not run? I am sorry that I don't have a better answer for you.
Is anyone else experiencing the dreaded preggo brain yet? I swear I am so scattered right now. There are certain forms that go in the patient charts. They go in every time. I keep forgetting to put the forms in. One of the ladies I work with came up for a form. I apologized and said that I was so absent minded and she replied maybe you're pregnant. I laughed and said I am. She had been kidding. You should have seen the look on her face. :)
I have to tend to my sick DS. Poor thing looks so sad when he doesn't feel well. Hope you ladies have a great day.

QOTD:
we haven't talked about names yet (we did MONTHS ago, but I have a feeling that things will be different now). With DC #1, the name we ended up with was the ONLY name we agreed on, for boys or girls. We have VERY different taste in names. For girls, I like more unique-not wierd, but unique names and he likes traditional. We are flipped for boys. I think that we are going to wait until after my appointment to start talking about anything. We are both in kind of excited denial that this is really happening.
Is anyone else constantly checking to see if AF has arrived?

Is anyone else experiencing the dreaded preggo brain yet?
YES! Here is the constant conversation in my house lately: DH ... "I told you that yesterday". Me... "you did. No you didn't." DH ... "yes, i did. How come you keep forgetting everything." Me... "I swear you didn't tell me."
It's amazing! What is up with that? I am never forgetful like that!!!
Is anyone else constantly checking to see if AF has arrived?
Yes! Well, not CONSTANTLY. But, if I feel the slightest twinge, I'm going in the bathroom to check it out. :)

TaterBaby, that is such a cute bathing suit! I'm hoping for a chance to wear my bikini this summer with a cute preggo belly (so long as I'm stretch mark free!).
lawgirl, hope everything is ok with you!
QOTD - sex, not really feeling scared/nervous about sex, but really really tired, queasy and just not in the mood!
QOTD - names, I told DH before we ever got pregnant that I've had a couple of girls names and a couple of boys names picked out and thats what we're going with! Lol, that probably sounds awful! Funny thing is, so far its fine with him. He's asked me a couple of times when I'm going to tell him the names, but I'd rather wait a bit longer 'cause he can be such a blabber mouth! I don't want to announce the name until the baby is born, and I'm nervous he'd let it slip. But we'll see.
QOTD- working, haven't told anyone at work yet and don't plan to until at least 12 weeks or so. I haven't been sick at work yet, and I don't think anyone has paid much attention to the many many bathroom breaks I take. I've got to watch it though, nurses will be quick to pick up on any clues!

just got back from the dr - mixed news, of course, because nothing in my life can ever be easy or straightforward.
we had the u/s and it was amazing. saw the gestational sac and the baby! even saw the heartbeat. it was really thrilling and we were just so elated. after the u/s we met with one of the doctors (mine was at a different office today). she was fairly negative and said that the heart rate was very low - under 100, and the number should be more like 150-160 at this point. She said that based on my LMP date, I was more like 6w6d, and even when I told her that according to my O date (I didn't O until CD 23/24) I thought I should be more like 5w3d, she said that that wasn't an accurate way to determine how far along I was (even though 2 other doctors previously agreed that the LMP date was probably inaccurate for me).
So I am not sure what to think. If I am indeed 6w6d, then it looks like things don't look to positive. If, however, I am more like 5w3d, then I don't think this would be so alarming. I am scheduled for another u/s on tuesday of next week (some valentine's present, huh?) so we can only wait until then to see what's happening.
this is *so* hard. I just had no idea that pregnancy would be filled with all of these unknowns, worries, and limbo... :(
hope you are all doing well today!

So she's actually saying that charting and knowing exactly what date you O'd is not accurate?!?! UUmmm....she does know how that all works right?! :p
Oh hun, I'm sorry it wasn't the positive response you were hoping for - but listen, you saw the baby and it is there and has a heartbeat!! :D that's *something*!!! Did they tell you to rest and take it easy? So the baby has a slower heartbeat - what do you do to insure it speeds up and gets stronger?
Ericka_Jarett
02-09-2006, 08:53 AM
lawgirl4 - don't give up hope. My doctor said that the most accurate way for my due date was to go by when I O'd not when the first day of last period was (that would put me at 6w 1d) she said that I am more like (5w 2d - as of yesterday) since I didn't O until CD23. I go for an u/s next week as well, and than again 2 weeks later, if they don't see the heartbeat in next weeks as she said it would still be early.

Lawgirl Ahh hun, I'm sorry you are going through that. I'm sure its very scary. Try to keep positive and take it easy. Hopefully your next appt you'll get to see your regular dr. If you're charting you know your body way better than some old fashioned formula like the lmp.
Decor: Haven't really thought about this. While buying shower gifts I saw a really cute animal motif. But that might change depending on the gender.
Names: I'm trying to wait until we know the gender. Also I think it might freak DH out a bit if I come with a big list!
Maplekitty DH & I are both freaked out to DTD. Probably no action there until atleast the first U/s. I have the same fear about knocking something loose. Crazy...I know!
Work I actually have a pretty good scenario. I work with DH and we pretty much run the office, so he can cover for me if it ever get to the point of actually being sick. So far all I have is long lasting ickyness. Another good thing (I guess) is that the stomach flu is going around our building so I havea built in excuse if needed. ;) We are not planning on telling anyone at work until atleast 12 weeks.
P-Brain: Not yet. I really don't have anything except a nervous stomach. I hoping something else comes jsut to calm my nerves. I'm not even tired. I've been up until atleast 11:30 every night.

Wow, miss a day and a 1/2 and miss a lot! Goodness!
Hello to Michelle and She-Ra!
lawgirl4--You're in my thoughts and prayers!!
Nothing too much new to report. I put in my 3 weeks at the paint job. It didn't go very well, I just said I had "personal and health" issues to deal with and couldn't handle a second job right now. That boss is friends with my main boss, so it's kind of odd. I know I could probably stay at it, but seriously, I don't want to worry every time I mix a can of paint! I'm a worrier, and that is just too much!
QOTD 1: Has anyone decided on names? I know this was briefly brought up in the thread but I'm curious if anyone is as anal as me and has picked names out. Well, that's definitely a hot-button issue for me and DH. Dh's family passes on the middle name of the 1st born son. . . . . and for many reasons, I'm not a fan of that practice. More specifially for the reason that FIL dictated this oh-so-long ago, and I have MANY issues with FIL, and don't feel he should get this honor. I"m sure you'll all get to hear me rant a bit about him, esp. after we announce our pg. However, since I tentatively agreed to pass the name on, then DH surrenders all other naming votes. . . . lol, however, I will take his preferences into consideration.
In regards to this issue, I had something else come up that bothers me. A lot. My 3 best friends know we're pg, (and of course, the girls on CC!), but no one else. Well, I had mentioned that I'm pretty sure we'll have a boy. . . . and she emailed me back and said that "if we start picking out girls names, to let her know, because she has several 'called' all ready." UM, excuse me? Nope, she's not currently pg, or even ttc. . . . she's not even planning to start trying for 5-10 years!! It *really* bothers me that she said this!! I mean, first FIL trying to tell me (long before we were even pg) what to name the then-non-exisitent kid (I'm sorry, but if you tell me to name it after you, then it's NOT an honor!! UGH!). . . . and now a best friend telling me what I *can't* name my child???? UGH! I just emailed her back and said that we won't be sharing any names with anyone until the child is born.
QOTD2 regaring m/s: Hasn't been an issue--yet. . . . as there has been no actual puking--yet.
Anyways, thanks for letting me rant a bit about the name situation! Has anyone else gone through that?
Everyone, have a wonderful Thursday!

Well, I had mentioned that I'm pretty sure we'll have a boy. . . . and she emailed me back and said that "if we start picking out girls names, to let her know, because she has several 'called' all ready."
heh...how's this for crazy! My mother died two years ago and right after she died, I was talking with some friends, and I mentioned that I would like to name my future daughter (or atleast middle name) Abigail, because my mom's name was Gail. Everyone thought that was really sweet, except for one friend who piped up "NO! That's my name! I've wanted that name for a girl since I was a teenager!!" Uummmm.....woah! coming form someone who'd also lost her mother recently, I thought that was incredibly imamture and downright crazy to spaz like that! We all were just in shock! She still said she doesn't care if I name my kid that, she's still using it, LOL

well... I was feeling so upset that I decided to call my own dr (who was at their suburban office today - I go to the city office) to get her take/ask questions about my u/s results today.
the first words out of her mouth were "things look good"!!!! naturally, I thought "WTF?!!?" But instead, said, "really?!?" She said that yes, the heartrate is low, but she has seen too many instances where it improves tremendously, and that I should be feeling "cautiously optimistic." She also said that one of the measurements did indicate that the baby was 6w6d, but that was not enough to make a determination, and especially given my late O-date (1/16) I am not likely that far along.
So I am just hoping that the baby has been growing fast, and the heart just recently started beating, and is in the earlier stages.
My dr also said that I should come in on monday, feb 13 instead of tuesday for my repeat u/s since she will be in the office on monday (and wouldn't be there on tuesday). I feel a million times better knowing that we will see her instead - even if the news has to be bad, I think it will just be easier to hear it from her instead of the other dr.
So I am just going to be as positive as possible! My mom was saying that having these early tests can sometimes do more harm than good - having a little information can be dangerous! she's quite right. So for those of you with late dr appts - honestly, you are probably better off that way!
And if there's any positive side to all of this - it's that DH said that he was just so moved today by the ultrasound, seeing our little baby, seeing the heartbeat - he said the feelings really took him by surprise, in a positive way. This was so heartwarming because he could have waited years longer to TTC - but now that it's happening he realizes how much he wants this, and how ready he really is. :)

Preggo Brain here-I wasn't getting e-mails of postings & just realized I probably didn't hit suscribe when I posted on Tuesday. Duh.
I also put my son's shoes on the wrong feet this morning, & didn't notice when he said shoe, ouch, boo boo. :o
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Lawgirl-sounds like that babe will benefit from your positive vibes.
Nursery-We were planning on moving this fall, but now don't know if we will wait or not, so my nursery depends on that. DS has the old Wendy Bee firetruck bedding, and I love that, but definetely not for a girl.
Names-DS was easy b/c he was the 5th Charles in the family. We now want his middle name (Henry) for this one's first name if it is a boy. Is that too weird?
Girls are tougher-Madeline & Kate topped our list last time around, so we will see.
Major heartburn going on here.

First PG symptom! My bB's are starting to hurt. They hurt REALLY badly with Maya, so although I'm not really looking forward to it, it makes me feel better to have some symptoms! I am also REALLY tired today. I didn't get my nap, so I'm grumpy :p

Lawgirl - I'm glad I read all the way through today's posting before I replied because it sure sounds like your news improved! What a rush to see the baby. How sweet is your DH?? More good vibes coming your way.
QOTD -
Names: We had 2 picked out long ago but are now wavering from them. We did have to fight for our girl name since DH's parents were about to name their DOG that a year ago. We had to come clean and claim it. They actually said "That'll be ok". NO IT WON'T!!! I'm not naming DD after Grandma and Grandpa's DOG!!! LOL They happily surrendered and we're thrilled we might start trying soon. I think we'll table any more discussions until we find out the gender. ALSO, we have lots of cute names for in utero baby now and I really don't want to start calling it by it's real name until it gets here.
Nursery: We are going to wait on this one until finding out the gender too.
DTD: Totally scared and honestly not in the mood AT ALL!
Work: I plan on keeping that secret as long as I possibly can. I travel once and a while for work, so I may need to tell sooner than I'd like to if I don't want to fly. But, based on my build, I think I'll be able to hide it for a while. No one would DARE ask ;) Anyone know how long you can wait to tell before they get mad?
Belly Shots: I'm going to start taking them this Friday. Even if I don't post, I think I'll regret waiting until I think I have a belly to start taking them. Besides, I look back at the skinny mini's and they have a bump sometimes this early. Mine must be in there somewhere!
I'm starting to wonder, based on other stories if I should have called my doc when I spotting last week. My appt. is this Wed. so I think that should be ok. And it's long since stopped. I guess I was thinking, what could they do about it anyway. And if I had miscarried, wouldn't the flood gates have opened? I hope that's the case and I'll think positive thoughts and hopefully return next week with a nice pic of baby.

hi hula! thanks for your kind words.
my recommendation re: calling your doctor - given what I've been going through, I am now making a rule to myself that I will only call if I have consistent bleeding - red blood - and bad cramping. It is really too early for them to be able to know things definitively, and if you wind up in my situation (where the news isn't bad, but isn't good either) you will just cause yourself unnecessary stress.

lawgirl, so glad that your doctor made you feel better and is having you come in! It helps so much when the doctor is supportive and explains things and works to try and make you feel better. Cool ultrasound pic!

my first u/s is V-day at 2:30, hate thinking of how I have to have 32oz of water in my at least 1 hour before the appt. Last time I had to do that, I felt like I was going to float away. My knees were slightly bend on the table because if I laid them flat I was going to wet myself. I was in so much pain from tech pushing on me, she let me go to the restroom to relieve myself a little, it was a much better u/s after that. That same u/s I was suppose to sit and wait to go in, I couldn't sit, good thing in 2 mins the tech came to take me back, I was ready to burst. The first u/s are the worst for having to hold fluids for so long.
Hi All,
I promise to do shot outs tomorrow. I'm just to darn tired tonight. I have an odd question for you gals. Is anyone else craving Taco Bell? The only thing that sounds good to me right now is a bean burrito and hard taco. I've read that other PG moms crave TB during the 1st trimester. How weird is that? :) I've been feeling queasy off and on all day for the last couple of days. I'm thinking about getting some Maalox for when I'm at work. I just felt so uncomfortable all afternoon today.

I'm getting excited for my first appt on 2/15. They have already had me PIAC at the Dr. so they know it's positive and they booked me for my first appointment.
So far, no real cravings or morning sickness. I've just been really tired. It's strange to come home from work and want to lay down and sleep! I'm going to have to get used to this!
QOTD - Names: My DH and I have a couple of names that we have always liked. We have not talked about names for real since finding out about being pregnant, but I think we definitely have some ideas.
QOTD - DTD: I'm scared to death of doing it! Once I start getting more energy and talk to a doctor, I think I'll be more into it!
QOTH - Belly Shots: I have not even thought about that yet! :)

I'll have to do SO's later. I woke up to a lot of brown spotting. I'm going to call my doc when the office opens as I think I may have a yeast infection anyway :rolleyes: . I do think lawgirl does make a good point about calling the doc though. If it does turn into a m/c there's nothing they could do now anyway. Please send sticky vibes my way. For now, I'm just trying to focus on the positive - that I had spotting with Claire (DD) and she's a happy, healthy 17 month old.

Marathongirl - {{{{{Sticky vibes}}}}} I hope your dr. gives you some reassurance - maybe it's baby embedding nice and deep!
Lily Unfortunately, I haven't been craving much of anything. Though last night in my 4-hour long graduate class (yuck) I had a sudden craving for chinese food! This morning that sounds like the most terrible idea in the world.. It's funny what food you want when you're pregnant!
Ericka - I totally understand the u/s thing! While I would love to get an u/s this early to see the little bean, I don't know if I could handle holding in 32oz of water. I think it would probably make me sick. Both times that I had my 18wk u/s I was told to drink water. I would sit in the waiting room just dying in pain. Then I'd get in there and both times they let me pee! Ugh.
Maplekitty - Marinated artichoke hearts?!? That's something I would have probably LOVED pre-pregnancy. I seriously wish that I craved something right now.
Belly Shots - I should probably start! I'm suprised at the weight I've already gained. I'm small to begin with (120lbs - 5'7") but I haven't really been eating that much and I've already gained about 7lbs!!! Is this strange? I thought about calling my dr. but for some reason I feel like they'll think I'm ridiculous for questioning it. Between that and my exaggerated symptoms I get a little anxious. I guess b/c it's so different from my other pregnancies.
Well, I think I've done enough rambling. I'm drinking some warm Sprite which is helping my m/s 100%. It's not as bad today which oddly enough, worries me. I'm thinking my late night eggs,bacon and toast and even later night 'Carnation Instant Breakfast' may have helped. We'll see though :)

marathongirl - hope all is well. the more i've read, the more it seems that brown spotting is very, very common. try to stay calm :)
ericka_jarrett - that's odd that you have to drink all that water for your first u/s! I didn't have to drink any at all, and they saw everything without a problem. hopefully it won't be too bad! :)
lily - I am not a fast food person, so I would never crave Taco Bell, but for the entire first 2 weeks I knew I was pregnant I just wanted these organic burritos I get at Whole Foods! Must be something about the mexican spices!
had some definite nausea last night and early this morning, but it subsided on its own, thankfully. still suffering from extreme bloat/gas in the evenings!

Be great if I don't need the vaginal u/s, just the normal u/s. With my last pregnancy I was 14 weeks so didn't have the vaginal u/s done.
I had to drink that much water 1 other time, because I was getting my ovaries checked for PCOS back about 3 yrs ago. Then I had to get a vaginal u/s done. To drink that much water is not bad as long as you can have it in within 10 mins of arriving at the office. My last u/s with my daughter, I had so much water in me I had to go before even leaving home, than had to drink 2 bottles of water before getting to the office, so I just drank it in the car and was good to go by the time I got to the office. I told the tech once, that it's horrible how they torture pregnant women holding so much water. She said I know it, it's hard todo, I had to do that 4 times.

Good Morning!
We had a rough night around here. DS was up at 10:30. I brought him into bed and he tossed and turned for the next 2 1/2 hours. Then I told DH I couldn't take it anymore and that he would have to take over as I am working today. Neither one of us got much sleep last night.
Lawgirl- That is a beautiful picture of your babe. I am glad that you got to talk to your regular dr. What your mom said is so right. Try to stay positive and not think too much about what the first dr. said (easier said than done sometimes ;) ). Isn't it amazing how quickly you become attached to the baby growing inside you?!
emermel- Yay for sore bb's! Still nothing here.
She-Ra- Sorry about the heartburn
Lily- No TB cravings. I really wanted some chocolate cake last night. DH offered to go to the store to see if he could find something for me. I couldn't make him go. I couldn't stop thinking about chocolate cake for the rest of the night.
Marathongirl- Sending lots of sticky vibes your way!!
Erika- Glad to see your numbers continuing to climb!! V-day is a great day for a u/s! You can get a heart frame and put an u/s pic in it. It is pure torture to ask a pregnant woman to drink that much water and then hold it while you have a u/s tech pushing on your belly to get that view!
BBL to check in.

Back from the doc's. She said things looked fine and it was probably baby burrowing in nice and deep. Got an u/s and saw the h/b!!! :D They took blood for a progesterone test. I'll get those results on Monday. Thanks for the well-wishes!
Lily - I've been craving greasy, salty, fatty food. Not Taco Bell, but I could go for cheeseburgers and fries. Actually anything with cheese sounds good.
I think DD and I are sharing a cold. We're both under the weather.
Mamabear - is your DS usually a good sleeper? That is my biggest fear - is having another poor sleeper. Even at 17 months, I'm usually up with DD 2-3 times a night. It's been a LONG time since I got a good night's sleep.

False alarm on the sore bb's...DD had just grabbed, and it hurt more than ususal, but no lasting effect. I guess I'm glad about that...I do wish that I had some sort of symptom though.
Marathon: Glad to hear that all went well. My appointment is still three weeks away...not sure how I'm going to make it that long.

marathongirl- Glad that your appt went well. To answer your question, DS is normally a good sleeper. Usually the only times he wakes up are when he was teething or when he is not feeling well. He didn't sleep through the night consistently until he was about 12 mos. I remember those nights of getting up every 3-4 hours. Definitely not looking forward to that again! I would love to have a baby that sleeps through the night almost from the start. Maybe DD will start sleeping better for you in the next couple of months. Hope you feel better soon.
Sorry emermel about the bb's. Although if yours felt anything like mine did last time, I will gladly pass on that symptom.

Omg, not only are my bbs sore, but I think they are starting to grow!!!
At the end of the day I have very sore red marks from my bra! I even resorted to wearing a sports bra yesterday, laff. I don't realy want to go buy a new bra jsut yet, cause I know they will grow even more.
Although my DH isn't complaining, lol! I was telling him about my sore bbs last night and my bra woes, and he's like "so...I don't really see a problem here!" :p

welcome jenzen!
marathongirl, so glad your appt went well today! isn't it amazing seeing the u/s images and the heartbeat?
emermel, I am realizing more and more that each woman is a totally different creature when it comes to symptoms... I think we are so quick to assume we are all "average" when in reality our bodies respond in such different ways! Plus, I've heard that symptoms can be different the second time around... I know my SIL had a totally easy pregnancy with my nephew; this time, she has had a really rough time - feeling sick, tired, etc... you just never know!
jbemommy - I totally hate taking my vitamins! I'm glad you found a way to mitigate their icky side effects.
****************************************
I am definitely feeling better about things today. I am anxious for my monday appt to get here, but I'm trying to forget I ever even spoke with that first doctor. It's amazing to me that doctors can have such different approaches/perspectives, no? I mean, it makes sense, but it's crazy to think that if I had only spoken with my doctor, my mindset would have been *completely* different!
so I am thinking that I am a "nighttime sickness" rather than a "morning sickness" person. This shocks me since I am much more of a night person than a morning person - so I figured I would feel worse in the morning, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Towards the latter half of the day I just start feeling icky!
hope everyone has a good weekend - rest up and take good care of yourselves!

I had a follow up appointment and ultrasound this morning. Since everything is going well and I've stopped spotting it was pretty quick. We can tell that the baby has grown a bunch from last week, and we even saw the heartbeat! That was so amazing and cool to see!

Starting to get a bit thicker around the middle maybe. Or maybe just bloated. Not a whole lot sounds good to eat right now, and I get nauseated whenever my stomache gets really empty.
marathongirl, glad everything is ok!
ericka_jarrett, for my ultrasounds they had me empty my bladder. I am so glad, I don't think I could have held a full bladder, that would have been torture!
Mamabear, sorry to hear you're not getting much sleep.
maplekitty, my bb's are definately growing, in addition to being sore. I had to go out today to buy a bigger sports bra to sleep in! They are just killing me at night, I just can't get comfortable!
lawgirl, my nausea can be day or night, its whenever my stomache gets really empty. It usually calms down awhile after I eat.

I'm really hoping I don't have to leave this thread after all. After seeing the doctor and the baby's h/b and being told everything looked good, I started gushing bright red blood around dinnertime last night. No cramping, but I do have a backache which could be from picking DD up. I didn't call the doc again b/c it was 6pm and they probably would have just told me to go to the ER. Either way, there's not much to do but wait until Monday. I'm just trying to lay low and let DH take care of DD as much as he can this weekend. Please send sticky vibes!

Pamela - Ahhhh, I love your ultrasound pics. The baby looks great and the first thing I noticed was how much it grew just in the last week. How amazing is that?
WooHoo! This is the first day all week that I haven't felt queasy. I'm so happy about that. Applesauce, yogurt and toast with strawberry jelly seem to really help the most. On top of that the sun is actually shining in the Northwest today. I'm lovin' it. :D Did anyone catch the Opening Ceremonies last night? I started to watch it around 8:30pm but fell asleep at 9:30 on the couch. I was bummed too since I wanted to see the US walk in the parade of nations. Oh well though. I can't wait to post my first ultrasound pics in this thread. Only a few more weeks. I hope that everyone has a great weekend.

maplekitty
02-11-2006, 02:05 PM
yup I'm waking up at 4 am every morning for a pee :p
I've also noticed that I can't lay on my stomach anymore. It's too sore and too much pressure!
Does anyone know at what month do we have to make a conscious effort to not sleep on our backs?
Ericka_Jarett
02-11-2006, 02:42 PM
Usually starting in the 2nd trimester, when the uterus will be putting more pressure on your spine and other organs (also leads to more urges to have to pee, since pressure on the kidneys). I have already been sleeping on my side though, cause I know how hard it was for me to get use to sleeping on my side instead of my back or stomach with Rebekah. I have been getting myself trained for it. This way also I can still sort of lay on my stomach but don't put any pressure on it, since I am more on my side, using my body pillow. It hurts if I lay on my right side so that made it easy to stay on my left side (best position anyway for bloodflow to the placenta, since it's most likely on the right side)

I hear you guys on going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I used to always be able to make it through the night but now I can't. I'm up at least once, but sometimes twice. I've been making an effort to drink a lot more water too so that's a major factor.
Lily - I'm so excited to see the sun! It's amazing how it starts your day right when you wake up to sun instead of rain.

I also so excited to have nice weather (I'm in Vancouver Lily, so we have similar weather at the same times)
Although I'm not looking forward to the blaring heat which causes me to get swollen feet (thank god we don't get much of that here), I am looking forward to being pregnant during the summer months. I think I have a bit of seasonal disorder, and I find I'm much more perky and energetic when the sun is shinning. If I were pregnant all throught the rainy winter I'd be laying in bed for nine months :p

It looks like I'm only going to get like 1 or 2 ultrasounds through the ENTIRE pregnancy! :confused: :( Everyone else has all of these great u/s, and I'm not going to have any to show for it. :( They said in their "timeline" that they aren't even going to send me for my FIRST u/s until 20 weeks!!!! :eek: Now, I'm hardly even looking forward to my first appointment in March. :( What is up with that?

marathongirl--sending good thoughts your way!
Rippy1010--I haven't been to the doctor yet, but I have talked to our insurance carrier. Our insurance will only pay for 1 ultrasound (I think it's usually done between something like 16 and 22 weeks), unless more are deemed "medically necessary." In other words, unless something is wrong (spotting, can't find heartbeat, no movement for a while, etc), we have to pay for more out of our pockets. Where I'm from, that's how most people's insurance works. (And yes, we have fab insurance. . . . only a $10 co-pay for office visits, that's IT for the entire pg. . . minus additional "unneccesary" ultrasounds). So unless the doc thinks something is wrong, DH and I will not be paying for addt'l ultrasounds out of our pocket. So maybe your doctor sets up the schedule based on their experience with insurance carriers, etc? Or maybe they are a very busy office, and having an ultrasound every visit just creates too much busy work if it's not necessary? If you're really concerned about it, just call up and ask the reasoning.

I think the 20 wk u/s is the only one that's considered standard. Early ones are more for dating the pregnancy, so if you have uncertain dates for your last period, or if you are having bleeding, or have had a previous miscarriage. We don't have maternity coverage--it was an ungodly amount to add it, so we are saving the money ourselves. That being said, I am going to ask for an ultrasound at our first appt just b/c I can't let myself think this pregnancy is really happening until I see or hear the heartbeat.
Rippy1010
02-12-2006, 10:52 AM
Thanks MidWesternGal and jbemommy. I think you are right, we don't have bad insurance either (though not the best). I inquired a few weeks ago about what all would definitely be covered. They said only the $25 specialist co-pay only for the first visit was my responsibility. Then, everything else that the doctor got pre-approval for be covered. They said as long as the doc deemed an u/s necessary and got the approval for it, then they would be covered. So, I guess the timeline was for a healthy, normal pregnancy, and they only do 1 for that.
Here's a question ... many of my WC/CC friends have gotten those 3D u/s near the end of their pregnancies, where they got to see their baby's actual face in 3D (almost like a perfect photograph). That obviously isn't covered then, right? How do you find out about getting one of them done? Has anyone heard of them or seen them before?
I guess once I officially "announce" my pg-status, I'll ask one of them about it.

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great weekend. I've actually felt pretty good this weekend.
I just wanted to drop off that
My first dr. appointment with Ultrasound is March 3rd and my due date has changed to October 9th.

With my last pregnancy, the doctor told me that the only u/s usually done is around 20 weeks. But for me to get an accurate due date I had to have one at 14 weeks (since that's when I got my BFP) and then around 19w5d, but went again at 20w 4d since they couldn't see all the heart chambers clearly.
This pregnancy I know will have more u/s since what happened with Rebekah. I haven't checked with the insurance about it (with my first it was a great insurance that covered all testing & u/s that was needed with a $20 co-pay for the whole pregnancy) This insurance is $40 co-pay for the whole pregnancy but I need to have referrals from my family physician for u/s. I have to call tomorrow and see if they will cover everyone, and if I really need to get a referral for each u/s (if I have to get one each time, that is going to get old fast)

hi everyone - hope you are all having good, relaxing weekends!
my nausea has really ramped up in the past 2 days - early morning and early evening now, and today it's kind of been constant all day so far. On the one hand, I feel like krap; on the other hand, it's somewhat reassuring. my u/s is tomorrow at 12:30 - I just hope this little heartbeat is speeding along healthily.
*********************************
so, is m/s bascially caused by an increase in hCG? Or does something else cause it?
Ericka_Jarett - You're right, 5 days difference isn't that much at all. I'm glad that your doctor is taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure you a happy and healthy pregnancy. Glad to hear that your betas went up.
kenswife - We haven't officially decided on names yet. Boy names are proving to be harder than I thought. :) The few times I wanted a little extra privacy in the restroom at work I went to one that was further out of the way that practically no one uses. It's definitely where I would go if I got really sick. I trying not to tell anyone at work until the 2nd trimester.
MamaBear - I definitely have preggo brain. I can't remember of anything specific at the moment, but I've noticed a difference here and there.:)
lawgirl4 - That's great news that you saw the baby's heartbeat. I'm sure that as the baby grows it's heart will get stronger too. I'm glad that you'll be able to see your own doctor tomorrow. I just read in one of my books that the high levels of HcG that contribute to m/s also suggest that the embryo is well-implanted.
Roxygirl - I've been taking pictures once a week.
marathongirl - I'm so sorry to hear about the spotting. I'm glad that everything looked great in the ultrasound.
maplekitty - LOL! My bb's are definitely growing too. Luckily they're not as sore as they were a few weeks ago, but they're much more full already. I heard that we shouldn't lay on our backs at 4 months on.
Pamela - Oh yeah...I've been waking up every single morning at 3:30am to use the restroom. It never fails.
Michelle - Totally agree with you about the rain. What great weather we've had for the last week. I hope it lasts.
Rippy1010 - I only get 2 maybe 3 u/s during my pregnancy too. The 1st will be at my first appt. and the other around 20 weeks. I'm actually ok with that though, but would be really bummed if I didn't get one at my first appt. just so that I could see the heartbeat and make sure growth was normal. I'm not sure about the process for 3-D pictures. Maybe your doctor could refer you to someone?
I've just found out that Sierra Mist is my stomache's new best friend. :) It kept me from being queasy during the night or this morning which was a pleasant surprise. Not much to report today. Just relaxin' and cleaning up. DH just made us really yummy veggie sandwiches with green and red bell peppers, swiss cheese, and cucumbers. It was so good and a great way to get in all of my vegetables for the day.

Ugh!!!! I wish I would just THROW UP already!!! I've run to the bathroom twice this morning with major nausea thinking I would get sick. Then, nothing.
I'm sick of this nausea. The ginger ale wasn't even helping me. :(

Ugh. The m/s is here in full force. I have officially thrown up. I feel terrible and just want to go home and crawl into bed!
Rippy1010 & TaterBaby - Sorry about your naseau and m/s this morning ladies. I hope it gets better as the day goes on.
Sprite seems to be helping my queasiness for the most part, but all of the sugar in it can't be good for me. Wouldn't it be great if we could just fast forward through this uncomfortable stage to the part where we can feel our babies move and kick? That's what I'm looking forward to the most. :)
Edited to say that I hope Bubelah and lawgirl4 have good appts. today.

thanks, lily for the good wishes!
so... DH is picking me up from work in about an hour... I am *so* anxious. I really hope everything goes well today.
I had horrendous nausea last night - woke up around 1:45am feeling awful and drifted in and out of sleep until 3:30, when I had a cracker. felt a little better, but the nausea has been on and off since then. yuck. but hopefully a good sign.
hope everyone has a good week!

I had a very puke-tastic weekend...not. fun. at. all. I was sick Friday night and most of Saturday, until we had to go out to dinner with a group of friends. I like to call them the "Pregnancy Police" because they were watching me all night long to monitor my eating and drinking habits. I had to drink grape juice out of a wine glass in order to throw them off. Once we announce this pregnancy, I am NEVER drinking grape juice again. Blech.
So now I am waaaay behind, but I have been reading along and I wanted to send lots and lots of good, sticky vibes to marathongirl and lawgirl today!!

Hello all!
Well, no m/s in full yet, though at night I usually feel kind of crappy.
Today, however, I am BLOATED to the point where I might explode! And I have a headache. What should I eat/avoid to get rid of the bloating?? Help!
I'm also pretty tired. I have to go into my PT job this afternoon--let me tell you, I'm counting the days until it's done with! Then, I only work mornings 3/4 time and that will be WONDERFUL! Yay to naps in the afternoon! ;)
Hubby and I are hoping to move before the baby comes. . . but if he doesn't get transferred, we're starting to wonder if the poor kid will have to sleep in a dresser drawer! What is everyone else doing that lives in a VERY small apt/condo (ie, two bedrooms or smaller)?
Have a great week! I'll stop back frequently!

I just got a BFP this morning and I am too excited to put off joining!

Me: Jean, 34
DH: Craig, 34

TTC: 11.1.05 (plus one try 4.05)
BFP: 2.13.06
EDD: 10.26.06
Gender Prediction: Girl
Any other children: No
Also: I have a doc appt on 2.27.06
(it was supposed to be to talk about why I wasn't pg yet! Yay!)
Couple of things: First, I was sure we were out this cycle because of BD timing. I'd done all this research that said the day of O has a much lower chance than -2 and -1. Yet here I am.
This also suggests girl, because there was a study showing that more girls are conceived right after O. It's called the O + 12 method. I wasn't using it on purpose, but I hope it's true! (Always wanted a girl).
And a question for all of you: How soon did you start to get m/s? And how soon did you start to feel tired? We have to plan a move, so I want to figure out how much time we have! (I feel fine right now).

I think I probably got the exhaustion right around 4-5 weeks. I had no official m/s yet. But, my nausea started really badly at 6-1/2 weeks.

We told my parents yesterday :) I had originally planned to wait until around 12 weeks or so, but I just couldn't take it any more and they would have figured it out pretty quick. They were very surprised and excited (this will be their first grandchild). We're definately not telling anyone else though, not even DH's parents (as he put it, as soon as we tell them they'll tell everyone they know) until 12 weeks.
M/S is a bit better this morning, but I've still got a long day ahead of me. I felt awful last night trying to fall alseep. Haven't thrown up, but I'm hating this queasyness, sometimes it lasts for hours and hours!
I think at my OB's office they usually just do the standard 20 week US, but since I was spotting they had me come in for a couple.
Lily, glad you found something that helps your stomache. I'm drinking juice like there's no tomorrow and eating crackers constantly.
Rippy, Taterbaby, sorry your feeling so nauseated :(
lawgirl, hope everything goes well today!!
pickle, sorry about the nausea and people watching you! As far as I know, no one suspects that I'm pregnant so I don't think anyone is really paying attention. Thank goodness!

No m/s here yet, not even really feeling nauseous - still just very very hungry!! :p
We told some of our friends last night. We had a huge Valentines dinner aprty at our house nd Curt toasted to our being pregnant, LOL, no one saw that coming! And they were all excited and very hapy for us.
We'll wait until the u/s on March 3rd to tell our families. Curt's mom is really into geneology and scrapbooking, so he asked her for a copy of his family tree to "give to me for a Valentines thing he making". Laff, no, actually we're going to re-do it with Baby Muffin under our names and give it back to her, telling her there's a correction we found. Hehehee!! :D

Welcome Happy & jeant!!!
So sorry to those of you who are dealing with m/s!
Well, my heart is telling me that I'm still part of this thread even though my OB's office never called me back :mad: . The bleeding only lasted about 3 hours on Friday night and only a few dots were in my undies. Then it was just off and on brown spotting and today nothing. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will hound the OB tomorrow.

hi everyone!
just wanted to cross post from my LJ:
Bottom line: this baby wants to stick! :)
So here's how today's appointment went.
First of all, the u/s tech today was really sweet. She seemed kind of businesslike at first, but she was kind and empathetic, which I really appreciated. When the image came up on the screen, I was basically just praying to see some kind of motion that would indicate a heartbeat, and I saw a flicker. It was definitely faster than Thursday's u/s - indeed, it was up to 95, which was a 50% increase. Still low - they like it to be above 100 - but we're not too far away. However, the u/s tech said the baby was measuring at just 3/3.5 millimeters, and last week's u/s had said 6 millimeters. That obviously sounded bad... but she said that she was going to write up the report for my doctor, who would then talk to us.
My doctor was pretty positive when we saw her - again, said cautious optimism is the way to go. She is very doubtful of the original tech's measurements - and also noted that there is a lot of room for error with these early ultrasounds in terms of measurements, since they are talking about millimeters, and it is very hard to get an accurate measurement since the angles can be different, position of the baby, etc... She basically said that it's impossible for the baby to not grow/shrink like that given the heartbeat increase - that made us feel relieved.
I find this all interesting given the dating discrepancy... Last week, "Dr. I" felt that I was most likely 6w6d based on the u/s, when, according to my calculations, I couldn't have been more than 5w3d - a big discrepancy. According to my calculations, today I am 6w, which is more in line with today's 3.5mm measurement and 95 bpm heartbeat. So I am wondering if, in fact, things are actually fairly on target.
Some things that will help confirm what's going on:
Dr N (my dr) ordered an additional beta hCG test and is also checking my progesterone again. We'll have those results tomorrow evening. Hopefully they have continued to rise appropriately, and Dr. N said that my increased nausea is a sign that that is probably the case (it's believed that the high hCG levels are the main contributing factor to morning sickness).
I go in Friday afternoon - 2pm - for another u/s. Dr. N explained that she primarily wanted me to come in today because a. she wanted to meet with me, since I didn't see her last week, and b. that she basically wanted to make sure the pregnancy was still viable (which, thankfully, it is).
So, more holding tight. I am feeling much more positive - in my gut I feel like everything is okay, even with the spotting. It tends to be most pronounced when I wake up in the morning - when I go to the bathroom - and again, maybe I am just "one of those women" who spot. I've decided I will *not* freak out unless I have sustained bleeding and/or cramping.
I also have to say - it's one thing to like your doctor when you are going in for annual exams, but it's quite another when you are dealing with the heavier things like pregnancy. Bedside manner makes *such* a huge difference, and that was very obvious today after meeting with Dr. N.
so we are still, cautiously optimistic :)
edited to add - welcome to the newcomers! someone asked about the onset of m/s - for me, it was late in the 5th week. however, I had "smell sensitivity" starting about a week earlier.

Hi To all the newcomers. I'm busy at work, so I didn't have time to right all your names down, but welcome! I believe someone asked about m/s. I haven't had any acutal sickness, but loss of nausea. It started about 6 weeks, and not its really bad, almost all the time during the day and gets severe during car rides. No exhaustion or other symptoms yet.
Marathongirl: Glad to see you are still around! Sending lots of sticky vies to you! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow.
Lawgirl Your appt sounded great! Its always nice to love your dr!
************
My weekend was pretty low-key which was nice. Have really bad nausea all weekend. Sunday I felt a little relief after splurging on my favorite coffee bean muffin :)
To more important things...my appt
It was amazing. My Dr (Dr. S) came in checked heart, lungs, and did an internal exam. Then she pulled out the "dildo machine". You girls were so right it totally looked like a dildo :p When the picture came up I saw our baby flipping and jumping around with a heart beat flashing like crazy! The baby measured 10mm and she said everything looked perfect. She said our change of miscarriage is down to 5% and it was safe to tell our parents. She adjusted my EDD to 10/2, but I like a round number so I'm going to keep it at 10/1.
After the appt I went to the lab they pulled 4 vials of blood, and in addition to the regular panels I had to sign a waiver to test for CF.
My next appt is March 13. I think they will be doing more measurements and listening to the heart.
Ohh and they gave me a huge goody bag with samples, magazines, supplements, reading on different types of services and an information packet for the hospital for delivery. The whole appt was quite a trip. I'll try and scan in the u/s pics and post later today.

Morning Sickness! - I feel for anyone experiencing this right now! I woke up at 3am in a cold sweat last night. I barely made it to the bathroom. I was so sick! I find that mornings and late nights are worse for me. Apparently it's bad when I'm sleeping too. I've been trying to fight off the m/s today with preggie pops and soda. It's helping a little bit, no 100% though.
Tomorrow I'm calling the dr. about this crazy weight gain. I'm hardly eating anything either. It makes me nervous that there is something wrong.
I'll be back in a bit - just wanted to sympathize w/those having m/s!

Thanks for the words of welcome -- they mean a lot!!
For those of you having u/s -- they sound amazing. I am in awe!! Here I am still in disbelief and wishing that the "Pregnant" on the digital HPT didn't go away after an hour. :) Can't wait for an u/s!
And thanks for your answers on m/s and tiredness. My theme for the next few weeks is going to be "make hay while the sun shines" -- try to get as much done as possible!
I have a weird question I'd like opinions on. I have an OB/GYN appt in two weeks. Do I call her office and let them know I'm pg? Or do I not -- under the idea that they might say "we don't need to see you until you are 8 weeks" or some such? Note: it normally takes three months to get a regular (I guess non-pg) appt. with this doc. I made this appt back in November! Another note: I'd like CVS, which is normally done at 10 weeks, so a delay would not be good.

Welcome to all the new mommies.
jeant- I would call the doctor and just let them know you got a BFP to see if your doctor will make it an OB appt. My doctor saw me for my annual and just talked about my pregnancy a little and making an appt later this weeek for next week.
I have my u/s tomorrow. Have to call the OB on Wed to find out what the culture results were from last week.

I'm feeling really good today! It seems like an amazing switch since I've been queasy off and on for the past week, but I only felt slightly queasy just before I got up today, and thats it! Crossing my fingers that it will last. But I picked up some vitamin B6 today just in case.

I agree with Erika...you should call your doctor and tell them that you got a BFP (welcome by the way!!!). Doctors schedule different amounts of time for different types of appointments. Be prepared for them to either want to reschedule you (so that you are closer to the 8 week mark) or have you come in a separate time for an OB appointment).

They are lollipops that are supposed to help with nauseousness / m.s. They have some funky flavours and I've heard that some of them are kind of gross, but they do indeed work. They sell them here at Motherhood Maternity and other small maternity/baby stores.

Our Babies R' Us carries them. A variety bag contains: One each of Ginger, Sour Raspberry, Sour Lemon, Sour Tangerine, Peppermint, Spearmint and Lavender pops They run about $4 a bag. My OB's office finally called me back at 5pm :mad: yesterday and said they couldn't locate my progesterone test results. I told the nurse about the bleeding and she said it was from the internal and the transvag u/s that they did Friday morning and they would see me at my regularly scheduled appt. I was kind of hoping they'd have me come in just to double-check the h/b. Deep down I think everything is OK, but I am going to bring it up with my OB next week. Hopefully they find my progesterone tests today :rolleyes: .

Hello and welcome to all the newcomers. We're really starting to grow in people now, crazy!!!
I have the same appointment problem with my Dr. I made my annual checkup appt. back in November and it was scheduled for March. But when I called to tell them I was preg. they fit me in and scheduled the necessary appointments. I think they just keep selected appointments open for certain things.
Good Luck!!!
No huge morning sickness for me yet. I'm just kind of icky and really tired. I could sleep all day. I was in bed by 9pm last night.

Welcome to happy, jeant and nigellas!
I have an appointment with the nurse today. It'll be an interviw sort of thing, and then I have to give a whole bunch of blood.
My first OB appointment is March 22.
Blegh. I feel like I have a hangover this morning. DS is teething, and he was up at 4:30. DH brought him down to our bed, which is never that great of an idea because DS whines and tosses and turns, so I can't sleep. So, I'm not sure if I'm tired because I'm pregnant or tired because of DS.
Not too many other symtoms yet.

Me: N, 27
DH: B, 27
Married: 7/6/02
TTC: Dec. '05
BFP: 2/11/06
EDD: 10/25/06
Gender Prediction: no idea, would love either :)
Any other children: yes, DD
Had to stop in at the OB's office b/c had some burning when I peed, so now I'm on antibiotics for a UTI. It's so hard to tell though if it is truly one or not (I've been borderline before), I feel like peeing all the time! That's my main symptom so far. I hate having to take meds during the first trimester. I had also always spotted after O on BCP and my first cycle TTC, but this time...nothing.
Can't wait to spend the next nine months with you girls :D

good morning everyone :)
so after my appt yesterday I was feeling so much better that I decided to cook a nice late lunch (for me)/dinner (for DH) - I was quite hungry, so in addition to eating the rice and indian food I cooked, I had 2 bowls of salad. Well, it caught up with me later - around 8pm I felt incredibly ill. Terrible pressure and bloating in my abdomen - not fun. This unfortunately resulted in a not-so-good night's sleep, so I am exhausted here at work today. the thought of certain foods totally turns my stomach, yet, I am eating some yogurt for breakfast and it actually feels soothing when I swallow it!

bubeleh - great u/s photo!! how exciting :)
rippy - Preggie Pops also come as "preggie drops" if you want a sucking candy instead - but they are quite large. and they are not as sour as I expected. I may stick with a local brand of lemon drops instead...
marathongirl - how annoying that they couldn't find your test results! grr. about the bleeding/wanting a u/s - honestly, I don't think you should be worried *unless* you have heavy bleeding & cramping. these early ultrasounds can sometimes do more harm than good, IMO. just sit tight if you can. :)

Welcome, nutter! I was all lonely hanging out at the end of the month :) so I'm glad to see you here. And since I O'd on day 13 this cycle, my "real" EDD is 10/25 too! (Official is 10/26).
I'm trying to figure out when I will actually believe I am pregnant. Part of it is last summer I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disorder, where my body makes antibodies against my thyroid. (This is surprisingly common, actually -- some people say 5-10% of women eventually develop this). It's easy to treat the thyroid part with meds, but there is no cure for the antibodies themselves. And having the antibodies ups your risk of miscarriage. So I think I won't really believe it's happening until I hit 8 weeks or so. DEFINITELY not telling anyone until then -- for now it's my and DH's secret.

Wow! Our thread is really starting to grow. I was wondering when we would have more ladies dropping by.
Welcome to Happy, jeant, Nigellas, and Nutter!!
Sorry to all that are dealing with m/s. I had a little nausea this morning. I have to wonder if m/s is right around the corner. :(
Bubeleh- Great u/s pics!
Marathon- Try to stay positive! I hope they find your test results and that those will bring you some peace of mind.
Lawgirl- It sounds like your appt. went well. Your dr. sounds very reassuring and positive. Hang in there. Too bad all dr's aren't like that!
As for me, this weekend was one I would rather forget. When DS gets sick, he wheezes alot and has some difficulty breathing. We do treatments to open up his airways. Saturday, the treatment didn't really help so I told DH to take him to the ped (I was working). DH called me at work to tell me that the dr wanted him to go to the ER. BAD thing to tell a mom that is unable to be there at that moment. I finally got to the hospital. What I saw broke my heart. DS had an I.V. inserted, electrodes monitoring his heartrate, tubes in his nose for oxygen. It was so sad to see. Turns out he has pneumonia. They actually admitted him overnight. It was a very long night. I barely slept. He was released Sunday night. So he is doing much better. Now I have a cold. I have been trying really hard not to take anything. I finally broke down last night and took some Tylenol. I stayed home from work today. They were not very happy as we have alot of people out sick right now.
So, still not a whole lot going on here. I told Dh last night that I still don't really feel pregnant yet. He muttered something and then fell asleep. :rolleyes: I hope that everyone has a good day. I will be back later to to check on you ladies.

Welcome to all the new members, great to have you join us in this great journey.
I go for my u/s in about 3 hours. :) I didn't sleep very well last night, was up like 4 times to go to the bathroom, than hubby's phone alert for work went off 2 times at like 5:00 this morning. I put hubby's lunch and breakfast together and went back to bed, couldn't sleep. Hubby went to work and I ended up getting up to eat, I was starving. I stayed up about an hour and then went back to bed for about 3 hours, it felt great.

Fly By Post-
This thread sure moves so fast, especially since I rarely check in on weekends!
Welcome new mommas-to-be!
Nothing exciting going on here. Not that hungry, but feel like I should eat every 2 hours, even though I'm not that nauseous I feel more so on an emty stomach.
I really just don't feel PG yet. 1st appt is March 1, hopefully we can hear a heartbeat that early! My office only does 1 20 week US. I got a bonus one with DS about 36 weeks b/c they thought he might be breech.
We also paid for a 3-d US at 17 weeks, b/c I was so impatient I couldn't wait 3 more weeks to find out the sex.
A tip I learned--If the say they know what the gender is in your first 30 seconds of an US it is probably a boy!!

just wanted to drop off my blood test results:
progesterone = 24.4 (still a good number, but down from 31.3 on 1/30 - will ask my dr if she thinks I need to go on supplements; she's out of the office today).
betas: 71,370!!!!!
This means my doubling time is just under 2 days - pretty good! I was hoping for at least 45,000, so I am pretty glad. Feeling better, despite my continued spotting... :rolleyes:
welcome, nutter!

Went for my u/s and got to see the heartbeat. The tech said I am measuring 6 weeks, give or take a day. All was good news, she gave me 4 prints, will see if we can get the scanner working to post one.
I have my first OB appt next Monday, YEAH!!!!

Welcome nutter and kerrykate!!!
lawgirl - I'm glad your doc is being so supportive. That really helps!
Ericka - glad you had a great u/s!
Mamabear - so sorry to hear about your DS! I hate when DD gets a cold let alone hospitalized with pneumonia!
Hope everyone else is doing well!
My OB's office found my progesterone results today. The nurse said everything looked great! So I'm feeling more relieved. She said definitely call if the spotting started again.
My ILs are coming tomorrow and we're going to tell them. I hope they're excited.
