I've really been trying hard to find something that I could give my bridesmaids for my wedding. So I thought I would ask...
What are you getting your bridesmaids?

I made personalized tote bags, black beach bags from Micheals and used iron-on letters for their names. Inside will be:
- a zippie hoodie with their intial embroidered on it,

I love the bottles, they have a rubber grippy top, so they are easy to open :)
-and their wedding jewelry that I'm making. I've spent the past 4 months rock tumbling agates that Curt has been collecting in Point Roberts (our wedding location) since he was a kid. I've used a professional lapidary (I'm such a nerd, lol) to make the agates all smooth and shiney. I'll have holes drilled in them and I'll make each girl a unique necklace and earring set.
I've also paid for the imported silk material that their dresses are made of.

I'm giving them pink shawls to cover their shoulders during the ceremony (Catholic church) and manicures before the wedding. I'm also giving my MOH (my sister) a picture frame and later will give her a picture of the two of us for the frame.

I gave my BM's the return to Tiffany's keychains, jewelry to match their dress and then I got them each an antique hankie with their intitial on it in blue so they would have something old and blue for when they got married, I scoured eBay for months trying to come up with them but I think that was the best part of their gifts and they are all saving them for their weddings :)

I ordered personalized wooden gift boxes from www.oneheartstudio.com for my BMs. They're called "tiny treasure boxes" & they cost $25 apiece. You can choose virtually any color for the boxes to be pained, you can choose customized quotes to be written on the lids (choose from the list of suggestions on the website or write your own), & you can have a personal message written inside the lid or on the bottom. I gave a different colored box with a different quote to each of my BMs, so they were very personalized. Inside the boxes I put the earrings & bracelets I'd bought for them to wear at the wedding. I also took them out to lunch the day before the wedding - sort of an informal BM luncheon.
Here are pictures of the boxes from the website:

I got my BMs the weekend travel bags from B&BW. I filled that wil an everyday wrap (they could use it for the wedding, but I got a neutral color so it would go with anything) and crocheted each one of them (5 total) a different afghan.
3 of them, and a bit of the bag in there too. Sorry, these are the best I have on the computer now!

I had kind of a monogrammed thing going on.
The girls got:
http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/LillianVernon/021456?$400x300$
http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/LillianVernon/023248?$250x188$
in light blue with their initials on the tags
They also got vintage handkerchiefs with their initial on it (I wish I'd gotten one for myself!), some Jessica McClintock perfume and the gift bag was calligraphied with their name. My aunt, who makes jewelry, made everyone a necklace, earrings, and bracelet.

I had such fun putting together the gifts for our bridesmaids.
Because I knew that any shower they would throw for me would be huge and expensive, I bought them all the bridesmaid dresses. (A great incentive for keeping the price down)
But then I also collected a bunch of small gifts for them.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4dc20b3127cce9b9824bd050200000025118AbsmbRw4ctK
Everyone got: a silver picture frame, a small photo album, a set of monogrammed notecards, a Burts Bees set, and (my favorite) an original Seventeen magazine from the month they were born in. (I collected old Seventeens, so I thought this was a neat personal touch.)
For the maids of honor, I got them other vintage finds unique to them: old school books for a teacher, a vintage map of Mexico City for a friend from Mexico, and old hotel silver set for my friend who collects antique silver.
My mom also treated them to manicures/pedicures/lunch at spa day the day before.
I guess we may have gone overboard. :)

If Kris went overboard then we went waayyy overboard ;) Let me explain a little first. I had been saving money for a while for some of the wedding expenses. Then, my parents met with us and insisted on paying the whole bill - for everything! We were stunned - and so, so grateful. This left me with quite a bit of $, which I spent on my bridesmaids. (yay!)
And, let me just say this. I wonder where the 'tradition' of asking people to be your bm, but making them pay for everything involved in being a bm,came to be. I am certainly NOT meaning to criticize anybody who did it this way. Everybody, seemingly, does it this way! I just have always thought it kind of odd.
Anyhow, back to the point, Like Kris I bought their dresses. I had 8 bridesmaids and one junior bridesmaid. Out of the 9 of them, I knew only one might be able to comfortably afford the Amsale dress I had picked. I decided to go ahead and pick up the tab. I also paid for their hotel rooms for them and their significant other for 3 days (Thurs night, Friday night, Sat. night.) Some of them came in earlier, but paid for their own night if that was the case.
As far as the actual 'gift' part I bought them these bathrobes from Pottery Barn, with their name engraved in the 'cerise' color that is shown in the pic.
http://images.snapfish.com/344466%3B923232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D56%3B%3D%3B 55%3DXROQDF%3E23234%3B9%3A28482ot1lsi
I also got them these 'Diva product' gift bags. In an uncanny coincidence, the color on the Diva products, matched the color on the bathrobe names. :)
http://images.snapfish.com/344466%3B923232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D56%3B%3D%3B 55%3DXROQDF%3E23234%3B2366%3A%3C7ot1lsi
As far as I know, everything was a hit! :) Oh - and they got to take home their bouquets as well. I am allergic to real flowers so I had to have silks.

My mom used to make GORGEOUS cloth dolls, and she is making me one with a wedding gown made of the material that the seamstress will cut off of my dress, so she is going to teach me how to make them. My bridesmaids are all wearing black, so I'm going to make a doll for each of them in a black dress similar to the ones they will each be wearing, with their hair color and everything. It's going to take a lot of time, but I think it will be a nice keepsake for them to have. Do you guys think this is too corny or do you think it's a good idea? Help!

I've just been debating this very issue over in my WC journal. I'm making each of my bridesmaids an album on www.mypublisher.com
Each album will have about 20 pages of photos from throughout the years of our friendship, along with favorite memories that will be typed onto the pages. The albums will look something like this:
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k284/rosebud03_2006/Misc/book.jpg
It's a little time consuming, but really personal and I think they'll like them.
In addition, I think I'm going to get each BM a pajama set, like these from Victoria's Secret:
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k284/rosebud03_2006/Misc/pjs.jpg
And then probably just some lotion & nail polish & stuff like that.

I got my BMs soft robes, and I had each robe embroidered with their first initials. I also got them shirts that said "Bridesmaid" or "Maid of Honor." The robes were a big hit. Not only were they very comfortable, but we all wore them when we were getting ready, and during our downtime between pictures and the ceremony beginning. They all wear them now, and they are still thanking me. But the best part is that the gift, while also useful, is connected to the day we all shared together!
Here's a pic of us hanging out in our robes in the bridal suite:

I had 10 BMs, 2 jr. BM, a flower girl and a train attendant. We went the "traditional" route and gave each on a silver jewelry box (shoe box size) engraved with their initials. Inside each box was a white gold bracelet. DH is a jeweler so the fact that he made each one was nice. Their skirts were a silver gray so the bracelets matched nicely. We also had a full on luncheon for them the day of the wedding.
At my shower I also gave them gift certificates for a mani/pedi.
It was fun. I loved giving them stuff and wish I could have done more. I have been married for 1.5 yrs now and like the idea of the publisher photobook so much I will be doing that for their bdays this year! GREAT IDEA!

I'm paying for the two bridesmaids manicure and pedicure. My maid of honor(my sister in law) wants acrylics, so I'm paying for that and a pedicure for her too. I made appointments at the spa near us for the day before the wedding. My sister in law and I are going in at 12:30 to get the acrylics and then the two other girls(my best friends from work) come in at 1 to get their regular manicures. After that we all meet up at the same time to get pedicures. My mom paid for their dresses. I also got them a Partylite travel tealight holder. Its really cute. It is a metal holder that looks like a purse and it can be engraved on the back. When it is opened it can fit a tealight and has a little mirror. It comes in a little velvet bag. The "purse" and bag both match the dresses pretty well. I also got three boxes of tealights in those colors and I will mix them up and give them each a box of tealights.
I'm debating whether to pay for half of one of the bridesmaids to have her hair highlighted. She is going the extra step for my wedding. She is really putting stuff together and keeping me sane during all of this. She is what is keeping me calm. Without her, I don't know where I would be.
I just don't want to let the other girls know about it.
Should I give her a $50 gift certificate for her hair? Another reason I want to do this for her is because I think the only reason she is getting her hair highlighted and cut is because of my wedding. We made appointments for the same day at the same time, and we will be seated next to each other. But I think she is only doing it for the wedding. I don't think she can afford it right now(her husband just started firefighter school/training-so money is a little tight). What do you guys think?
We are also getting our hair done the day of the wedding. It will cost about $60-100 per girl. Am I supposed to pay for that? If so, thats fine, but I just want to be prepared.
Sorry for going on and on

One last thing... Should I give gift certificates for the manicure/pedicure? Or just pay for it the day of services? If I do give GC's should I do it on the day of the shower? Thats the only time when all of us will be together at the same time.
When did you all give your bridemaids the gifts?

Hi! I am fairly new to CC and haven't posted much, but have been looking at the posts throughout the entire site. I just got married and had the same delimma as far as deciding what to get my bridesmaids. All of my bridesmaids are sweet girls and my dearest friends, but aren't into the really girly things (i.e. monogramed totes, engraved jewelry boxes, etc.), which I think are cute. So, I ended up getting them flip-flops for the reception (black and white to match their dresses) and flip flops for "just because" b/c I thought they were so, so cute, lotion and shower gel, a jewelry beg, and their jewelry for the wedding day (which I picked out so that they can wear it again after the weddin was over.).

I gave my gifts to m y bridesmaids the night of the rehearsal dinner. I don't think that it would be bad to give the gifts to them at the shower! I think if thats the only time you are going to be together, then thats the best time. Also, IMO, a GC isn't bad at all!

I love the idea of having a "spa day" together, and buying each of the girls a professional massage and giving them an engraved robe. If there's enough money, going to an "all service" spa and including mani's and pedi's or facials would be a WONDERFUL way to relax together before the big day too!

This was my original idea that I had posted when the thread was started. Unfortunately it got nixed by both my mother and my FMIL. They both think it'll be too hectic the week of the wedding (the only time I will see my bridesmaids since I live in another country). So now they are getting this:
http://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/P916328a.jpg
presented in this:
http://i17.ebayimg.com/02/i/05/10/e5/ad_1_sbl.JPG
which will be in each of their favorite colors and monogrammed with their initials.
In addition I will be paying for their hair and makeup.
I really had no idea how much the standard bridesmaid gift is. So far it'll be about $150. Maybe I should not offer the hair and makeup? Or maybe just for my MOH...

well I wanted to get my 2 bridesmaids something traditional and something different. So, for the traditional thing, I'm getting them both onyx necklaces from James Avery (their dresses are black) .
http://secure.jamesavery.com/view_jewelry/search/viewProduct.jsp?itemCode=CM-1687O
For the different thing, I'm having an artist do a custom portrait for each of them of their horses in graphite (we are all "horse people".. met through horses, ride together, etc).

I'm having only two girls + two junior bridesmaids, so I am going to try to really spoil my girls, while sticking to a budget (because I'm quite poor!). So, I am getting them this tote ($14.99):
http://nnichols.com/store/images/blackribbon.jpg
And then I'll fill each one with little things that suit each girls personality. The junior bridesmaids will get more "little girl" type stuff, and the two older girls will get more "big girl" stuff. I'm pretty excited for my totes to arrive so I can start filling them up early! (I've gotta start early so I can get plenty of clearance deals!)

I ended up giving them their gift certificates for manicures/pedicures after the bridal shower on sunday. They loved the certificates and actually seemed suprised! They loved the travel tealight holder too. But that might also be because we love Partylite candles, and they were Partylite holders. I wrote each of them a note in their cards and they were so happy.
I would love to do more for them, but money is tight, so I'm happy and so are they, with what I've done for them.
I think all of the gifts so far sound really nice.

my "theme" for the maids gifts was "These are a few of my favorite things"
i packaged everything in a fall-colored bag (wedding was in oct.) w/gold rafia and personalized name tags.
personalized LL Bean Totes - ea. in a diff color w/their initial
pumpkin spice jar candle
pedicure kit w/a diff. color of Essie polish (some girls got pink, some got red-depending on their tastes)
a sparkly decorative box
a small silver picture frame
sparkly, dangly earrings- ea. in a diff. color
and the MOH got a fun, beaded necklace and another candle (she loves candles)
i didnt want to get them all matching jewelry for the wedding day. im not a big matchy-match type of person. and i really wanted to get them things they'd like and things they'd USE.

I got my bridesmaids each a silver three-stone necklace (but with swarovski crystals, not diamonds!) and crystal stud earrings. They also got little black evening bags with a small crystal buckle clasp. I figured the items I gave them are all very classic pieces that they could wear again and again after the wedding. Maybe not the most unique ideas, but they seemed to like them.
For my junior bridesmaids (age 11), I found little tote bags with their initials on them. I got one in pink and one in purple. Then, inside the totes, I put a lotion, shower gel, and body splash from Bath & Body Works' kids line.

For my girls, i actually joined Avon because the first 4 orders you get 50% profit. I bought then lotions, perfumes, accesories...a ton of stuff actually. I got it all for half price. Then i went to walmart and found these cute little tote bags on sale and i bought them each one and filled it up with their avon goodies.
I also had a good friend of mine, who is a massage therapist, come and give everyone massages the morning of the wedding.

I'm paying for the girl's hair to be done on the wedding day. Then I'll probably do something personal for each girl. I have 2 that don't live in Kansas so I might do something "themed" for them. My sister is in high school so I'll probably do something "younger" for her. What about doing something after the fact like a trinket from your honeymoon?

While I bought each of my girls the jewelry for the wedding, I also bought them each a crystal figurine that fit their interests. I also bought them handblown perfume bottles. What are you getting your bridesmaids? (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1483)
At my bridal shower I gave all my girls matching earings and necklaces that matched my jewelry at a smaller scale.
Then at the rehearsal dinner I have them all different colored totes like this with their name on it:
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/lkaempfer/katietote.jpg
I got all 4 girls black flip flops for at the reception then I got them each a little something. My MOH (my sister) I got her a bottle of her favorite wine, my other sister (bridesmaid) I got her this cute "girlie" army knife because she is outdoorsy
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/lkaempfer/dianagift.jpg
My best friend (bridesmaid) I got her this flask
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/lkaempfer/eringift.jpg
and my cousin (bridesmaid) I think I just got her some nail polish stuff I found at the one spot at Target (she was the bridesmaid from hell so I wasn't about to spent a lot of money on her)

We are having a destination wedding, and I'm doing two things for my bridesmaids. I am going to have a thank you lunch a week or so before the wedding, and have them pull charms from a cake ( Victorian Cake charms (http://www.jewelrybyrhonda.com/webpages/cakecharmsmainpage.htm) ), and also give them a bracelet with a charm that fits their personality. In Vegas, I will be giving them travel bags with flip flops for the pool, some travel soaps and lotions, some make up from E.L.F., and silk sleep masks :p .

I could have sworn there was a thread about this already, but I can't find it! So, what did you/are you getting your bridesmaids as a gift(s)? I'm curious as I'm trying to decide what to get mine, and I could use suggestions.
I wanted to get mine a massage at a nearby spa, but then found out her plane arrives at an inconvenient time for her to "cash in" on it before the big day. She also does not wear jewelry. Suggestions?

leaning towards signature wristlets from coach...
was gonna get my 12 year old god-daughter (junionr BM) an ipod, but she got one for her birthday, so kinda stuck on what to get her - i doubt she'd have much use for a wristlet/wallet type thing - she'd prolly think it was boring... maybe itunes gift card and a cute little charm for her cellphone?? do 12yr olds like charms for their cellphones?? gosh i
bummed becuz we cant really do a spa day since we all live in different parts of the country - which would have been so much more fun just to sit and "visit" with them and just spend time with them...

I wanted to give my one bridesmaid (MOH) a massage at a spa when we did "spa" day with our good friends before the wedding. She wasn't able to make it, so I resorted to plan "B," which was:
Brainstorm with friends on a day of shopping... between them and me we came up with:
- A box of lindt chocolates from an actual lindt store (she loves chocolate)
- A couple of really nice items from bath and body works (she loves that store)
- A $25 gift certificate to the Olive Garden (she loves to eat out with friends)
- A "Girls Night In" book, full of ideas for having your friends over and still having "girl" time, whether single/married, etc. I also wrote a note on the inside cover from me to her.
- A cookbook holder for her kitchen (she is a great cook, and use to work at a bakery)
I put it all in a really cute bag, and gave it to her the night before my wedding at a lingerie party she and her sister threw for me (as a bachelorette thing).
It seems like I'm forgetting something else. Anywho, I think the total came to around $80.
ETA: Oh ya! I forgot. I also paid for her to get a mani & pedi the day of the wedding. That bumps the present up to over $100. Wow! Good thing I only had one bridesmaid!

This was my favorite BM gift. At my bestfriends wedding she paid for our hair and makeup as her gift to us. She also got us each jewlery to wear on the day. It was nice to have that cost of hair/makeup taken care of after already having paid for so much other stuff.
