How to remove borders?

We just bought a new house and the former owner loved her borders. There are borders in every room. I'm especially eager to get rid of the leopard print border in the den. How to do this? Is it like stripping wallpaper?

There's a thread over in FP about this, too! ;)

We used WP Chomp (http://www.acehardware.com/sm-wp-chomp-wallpaper-remover--pi-1817551.html) to remove the border in our half bath. Worked like a charm, but it was only the two of us at that time (no baby). Don't know what kinds of warnings there may be with that stuff. It did work really well, though!

Mix water and fabric softener... very effective and cheap! :)
