My DS is going on 11w and over the past couple of days constantly has his fist in his mouth... he's also been drooling like crazy. My mom babysat him this afternoon for me and she thinks he's getting a tooth. He's only going to be 11w though - can it start that early? She said he had 2 watery poopy dipes at her house as well. I just think he's too young to be teething.

When did your kiddo start?

DS started teething at 2.5 months. The first tooth popped through before he was 3 months.

It's been a rough year. He has 14 teeth at 13 months...

Hmmmmm, that does seem early. I thought my DS started teething around 2 months because of all the drool and some other stuff that I can't remember now but when I talked to our ped about it she said that babies don't have good swallowing technique till around 12 months so they drool alot. I've never heard that one before but for us it wasn't teething. DS didn't get his first tooth till 12 months and now at 19 months he only has 8 front teeth and 4 molars. We are currently in the throws of the 2 eye teeth coming thru but they are taking their sweet, punishable time. Poor kid. Maybe your DC is an overachiever!

Wow, I didn't know it was that early either! DS is only 7 weeks...but in the past week he's been more drooly than ever! Guess it won't be too long!

Most babies have an increase in saliva production in the first couple of months- the drool doesn't necessarily mean teething. And chewing on the fist is common too and not necessarily an indication of teething- it's them exploring their bodies. Anywhere from 4-10 months or so is the normal range for teething I think, though a rare few babies will get the first tooth earlier or later than that. Lots of babies also "teeth" (i.e. do what everyone will tell you is teething behavior) but it takes months before a tooth actually shows up.

My DD started all the drooling fist chewing stuff around 2-3 months, got her first tooth at 5.5 months and her second at 6. Then she acted like she was teething nearly constantly from 6-8.5 months and just got her thirdd and fourth teeth last week (8.5 months). Some of her playgroup buddies started the drooling/chewing stuff at the same time and have just gotten their first teeth now.

Not a mom, but my mother told me that I teethed really early - I had 7 teeth at 7 months. Eek!

DD got her first 2 teeth at 4.5 months and to tell you the truth, we really didn't notice any real teething signs besides maybe some excess drool. Then one day we looked at her gums and saw tiny white spots. The next day her 2 bottom teeth were out. By 6 months she had 4 teeth and by 8 months she had (has) 8 teeth. She hasn't cut any more yet (10 months), but yeah...all babies are different...so it's definitely possible.

DD didn't start cutting teeth until 10.5 months. We were beginning to wonder if she was ever going to have teeth!

My daughter will be 12 weeks tomorrow and she has small white spots below her gums already! I didnt think she could be teething already, but maybe?? She drools alot and eats her fist, but I figured that was normal for babies anyways, but the white spots under her gums have me worried.

DD started chewing and drooling a lot between 2.5 and 3 months. Then started wanting to chew on teething rings/teething accessories, fingers, and fists. We never really started looking for teeth until just the last month. Last week we noticed that one of the bottom teeth was starting to come through. DD is just a few days away from being 7 months so basically the first tooth was between 6.5 and 7 months.

DS was drooling and chewing early (between 2 and 3 months) but didn't get a tooth until 6 1/2 months.
