View Full Version : terrified for vet appt.

So a few weeks ago I found a lump under Buddy's arm. Sort of a flat lump, if that makes any sense. I finally made a vet appointment (today @ 4:30). Now I am terrified that it is something bad (like lymphoma). I also found another lump just like the first one right below the first one. He has a fatty tumor on the outside of his other leg, and these feel nothing like that one.

Buddy is 7.5 and a rottie/chow/sweetheart/cuddle bug mix.

I cried myself to sleep last night just thinking about the worst. I feel bad that I waited so long to make the appointment (probably 3 weeks or so). I think I was in denial that something may be wrong with my perfect little boy.

If anyone has any stories about lumps that were just lumps, or cancer that was beaten, or anything to share, please share.

I just had to vent my fears a little. Thanks for being there.

Many hugs to you. My dog has had many lumps..most of them felt different. On one of them we had a needle extraction done and because of the fluid in it, they recommended surgical removal and a biopsy. Thankfully it ended up not being anything to worry about.

I hope the same holds true for you!

I'm so sorry! Ally had a lump and it was due to shots she had a week before (she had a reaction at the point where they put the needle) - it took over two days for her to have that reaction and she took meds to get rid of it. If you haven't recently been to the vet, my family has had animals where they had benign tumors and a relatively simple surgery took care of them. Good luck!

I'm starting to feel a little less worried. I just get myself so worked up when it comes to my little man. I'm sure it's just a lump. I think the problem is that my mom's dog (my dog through high school) had lymphoma and my mom pointed out that Buddy's lumps were where lymph nodes are. I just have to remember that my mother just likes to get me all worried about stuff before knowing all the facts.

Buddy will be just fine. He probably just formed the lumps as an excuse to go see the vet...he really likes his vet, and she loves him to pieces.

Denial is so much more fun than constant worry! Now I have to get the Black Eyed Peas "My Humps" song out of my head...gotta stop talking about lumps!!

Murphy had a series of bumps on her legs..when I took her in, the vet said they were hives. We're guessing she ate a yellowjacket and had an allergic reaction. She now gets very swollen very quickly when stung by yellowjackets. Good luck! I hope he's okay!

Yes, please do come back to update and I hope it turns out to be nothing. I worry all the time that our dog has some illness and the next minute she is running around like she's on cloud 9!;) She too had a lump (actually more like a growth) on her belly, turned out to be nothing but worried us all the same.

Vegastrtle-Sadie had the same thing happen to her one day she was out playing in my in-laws yard. We think it was some sort of bug bite also. Vet told us not to worry just give her children's benedryl...worked like a charm!

My fingers are crossed that it is nothing serious and just something like what the other posters are saying. I don't have any experience with that.

My pup is going to the vet today because he can't keep down food so I am hoping both our little guys are just fine!

We've got the Benadryl at home and in both First Aid kits...she gets swollen even with Benadryl! Last time , I gave her Benadrtyl within 10 minutes, she still got swollen so she had to go to Emergency Vet (it was a Sunday) and get a shot...that helped. Hopefully if she gets stung again it will be on a weekday ;)

It was only a lipoma!!! When the vet came back and said it was a good lump I felt 100 lbs lighter. I was so freaking happy. Of course dh wants to strangle my mother for getting me so worked up, but I don't care right now...my baby is just fine!

Thank you for all of your support, you guys are the best! I think I would have gone completely bananas without you!
