Hi everyone!
I just returned home from a dr. appointment and my doctor told me to think about the Optifast liquid diet. I do not know much about it...told him I wanted to do more research. I totally trust him, he has been my doctor since I was a child. Just want to hear about any experiences...anyone?

My dad did this back in the 80s and it screwed with his skin. He has Excema anyway, but it made it really bad. That said, it did help him lose weight... and I'm sure they have modified the program since he did it 20 years ago. A friend of mine's mom lost 30 pounds on Optifast last year as well. I'm not sure if she's kept it off??
I tried a liquid-only diet for a week and failed... mostly because I don't really like sweets. I think a person who likes eating only sweet things will have a greater rate of success than me, who much prefers savory to sweet. It never hurts to check it out! Good luck, wsusquirrel!

I've never done it, but I know its what Oprah used the first time she lost the weight (back in the 80s). I believe at first she raved about it. She put weight back on pretty quickly though after she stopped the shakes. Of course, she may not have been eating well/exercising etc. I've never had much success with shakes myself (Slimfast, etc.) but I'll definitely be interested in hearing about it if you try it! Good luck!

Oprah said once in an interview that the Optifast liquid diet ruined her metabolism. I'm not sure if that's an individual thing or what.
