This year DH and I are hosting a pretty formal Valentine's dinner party for 4 our of our friends (so 6 people total).
I'm a pretty good cook, and I like to get creative wehn it comes to dinner parties and *wow* my friends.
I thought perhaps a roast of lamb for the main course or duck, something that most people don't eat very often, but everyone would enjoy.
I've told my friends this will be a fairly fancy multiple course meal, but I'd like some ideas or suggestions for the menu. I could go with a theme, or a culturaly specific menu. Any ideas? :)

What a fun idea!!!
Do you all like Indian food? I've had a roast rack of lamb with indian spices on it and it was DIVINE! You could do a whole theme, using different Indian foods :)
I think no matter what you do, you should definitely go with mulitiple courses. Do you all like wine? Since there are 6 of you, you could pair a bottle with each course and you each would only get less then a glass.
I think if I were going to do this, my menu would look something like this:
Salad
A hot appetizer (just small bit for each person, maybe a crabcake?) or cup of soup
Lemon sorbet (palate cleanser)
Meat
Veg
Starch (I'd probably do a polenta-- you could make them heart shaped!)
Depending on how rich the rest of the meal was, I'd either do a light fruit tart, or Karen posted a really yummy sounding chocolate souffle recipe :)
Sarah, I don't have any ideas, but I'm leaving it up to you to move any recipes up to the Valentine's Menu stickie :p

Does anyone have any ideas for a Valentine's recipe? I would like to cook my DH a special romantic dinner for our first married V Day.
Thanks in advance!
Cath
