Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are Sare79 and gymwidow
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread after 5 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistresses would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if we get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
• Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

subscribing! I can't believe that the last thread only lasted six days! That's crazy!
I have a confession to make: I think that maybe some of you thought that I was the MBFP. My chart said I was, but it's not true. I totally marked the wrong test result in the box. How embarrasing. :o
Please don't hate me!
Hoping that my temp stays up tomorow. I've been really cold today, and a little, tiny bit crampy. But they don't really feel like AF cramps yet. Here's hoping! I've also been peeing alot today. Like 5 times. That's alot for me. Normally, I only go once, maybe twice during the day.
I don't have any tests in the house, and that's probably a good thing. Won't drive myself crazy that way I guess.

MrsJackson....I don't hate you...mistakes happen. I hope you have a bfp to post soon...and I hope I am posting one right behind you :) I am hoping my temp stays up tomorrow too! I would be upset if it didn't because too many of the symptoms I am having are already pointing at AF returning soon. I have three tests that are ready and waiting for me. I may test tomorrow. Good luck!!!!!

Deanna1018, thanks for not hating me. I was really embarrased to come back to the thread and have to out myself for being hopeful.

LDS Angel - I know what you mean. The calendar just seems to move so slowly now! I'm hoping/expecting to O in about 3-4 weeks. That's after freaking Valentine's Day!
MrsJackson and Deanna - Hoping for some BFPs for both of you!
I need advice on OPKs. I think I'm going to use them this cycle. Are the ones from early-pregnancy-tests.com any good? Does it matter where I get them? I just want them to be cheap. I'm thinking of starting with the OPKs on CD 14, so I could be using as many as 15.
And how do I use them, exactly? When I get a positive test, is it too late to BD and catch the egg?
TazLuv
01-18-2006, 05:21 PM
Wow this does move fast. Congrats octoberkate!
As for me I got my CD3 tests back today and they were all normal, so that is good. Since my last "cycle" was only two days of spotting I'm now going to take medroxyprogesterone (yikes!) for 5 days to induce menses. Then take clomid CD3-7 and go from there. I'm starting with 50mg so we'll do progesterone tests on CD19 and repeat as necessary.
I've updated my chart to show the BD and I think I'm good in the waiting to O category.

Threadmistress, please put me in the what-the-hell-is-going-on category. :) And here's a link to my chart (http://www.tcoyf.com/forum/chart.asp?id=polarama). Thank you!
So as noted below, I'm really baffled by my chart. There is a temp spike, but then a dip and no AF. The simplest answer is that I'm anovulatory and the temp spike wasn't a true thermal shift. I am hoping for AF soon so I can start charting afresh. This last cycle, I didn't seriously monitor CM and CP, and I did a LOT of traveling (the dates where I had no temps recorded are days I flew to/from Asia).
*sigh* I know it hasn't been that long, but it is very nerve-wracking and frustrating.

LDSAngel, I'm with you! This thread moves so quickly, and I have the best of intentions to keep up with it, but I just don't! I will really try better this month.
I am still waiting to O, CD 12 here. I'm guessing in about 3 days since my cycles are so predictable. I'm really working on increasing my CM. I would so love to see EWCM for the first time!
Congrats to octoberkate and the other BFP's I missed in the last thread!
polarama, I'm not really sure, but it doesn't look like you've O'd yet to me. Keep your chin up!

Wow. I go to school for one day and miss the starting of a whole new thread!
Congrats to octoberkate!
I am feeling very down tonight. I have been spotting all day (more than usual for my first day of spotting) and I feel crampy and I am just mad that AF is coming. I wanted this to be it for us and I just don't feel like I can make it through another cycle of wondering and waiting and worrying. I just feel drained.:(

Well I am starting to get depressed. I woke up this morning to some spotting. No temp drop though (98.4) Unsure if it is implantation spotting or the start of the dreaded AF. I guess only time will tell over the course of the day. I have to say that this spotting is a bright red rather then the normal brown color that I inititally see when AF is going to start. When I did check my CM this morning I did notice a very very minimal amount of "TMI ALERT" stringy brown discharge that I know is left over lining from my last cycle. For any of you experts out there does that probably mean that the evil AF is on its way?
Of course everything about this cycle has been abnormal from the acute pain I had with ovulation, to the flat line temp I got for most of the beginning and end of this cycle, and then the outrageous back/abdominal pain that I had.
If this is AF then it would make my DPO this cycle 9 days which is another blow because my last 2 LP's were 11 days and 12 days respectively. I hope this isn't a trend. I am a little concerned about this.
I know that this is our first month of TTC and I really have nothing to complain about but I am very disappointed. Oh I also took a hpt this morning and that came back negative but I know that if what I had is implantation spotting I may not have a bfp till dpo12 or beyond.
Not a good day here. At least my day is jam packed with patients so I won't have a lot of free time to think about it till I get home. Thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks for the new thread threadmistresses:)
Can you please move me to Oed and testing Jan. 31stEven though I said I will test I am not feeling hopeful this month with DH's SA. The nurse called yesterday and said it was slightly abnormal, whatever that means. However they still want to go on with the HSG and start me on clomid. Hopeful that we will get a baby this year!!!!

Deanna1018- I am crossing my fingers and toes for you that you will get your BFP later in your cycle. This is my first month TTC as well and it is just as important as any other:)
I will be testing on the 31st if I can hold out that long FF says that is the date to go with.

good morning everyone!
so, FF is calling my O-date for Monday - but I'm not sure if it should be monday or tuesday. the difference of a day doesn't really matter given our BD-ing schedule...we'll see!
now I get to move on to the next obsession - my LP. It has declined with each cycle since I went off of the pill (from 13 to 11 to 9) and I am just hoping that I don't have a progesterone issue. Fingers crossed for this cycle!
*********************************
polarama - I can't figure out why ovusoft called your O-date when it did - it seemed very arbitrary. Do you check CM? With those erratic temps and your traveling, I think that monitoring your CM would really help you understand what is going on.
Deanna - I don't think you're crazy for feeling upset even though this is your first cycle - I know that I will be feeling the same way if it doesn't happen this cycle. *hugs*
jodylovesscotty and kimmer - I'm testing around the same time as you guys - think positively! jody - can you post a link to your chart in your signature? kimmer, can you publish your BD data?

MrsJackson No worries, we're not mad. I hope you get that BFP soon.
mimieliza You said it. When you're TTC, it's almost like living in a totally diffrent time zone. I hope you figure out those OPKs.
polarama Yikes. I know how it feels to have a frustrating chart. Hang in there.
ptcrn It's nice to know I'm not the only slacker. :) But hopfully we'll both get BFP's soon and won't need to keep up with this thread, lol.
Deanna1018 Sorry about the spotting! I hope everything is ok.
Looks like we have a few of us in the dreaded 2ww together. I'll be testing around the same time as jody, kimmer and lawgirl. Fingers crossed for all of us!
Holy crap, I just did so's. Wow. I really am turning over a new leaf, lol.
Like I mentioned, I will be testing the week of 1/29.
Nothing else really going on here. I'm about 7DPO, no FPS to speak of, yet. :D

Wow, a new thread already! No time for shout outs now, but I wanted to give a quick update.
CD 32 -- My temp this morning dipped, but still no AF. I think I've had one cycle ever that was 31 days, so maybe this time is the same. So annoying b/c I couldn't possibly be pg due to the temp drop (right?) and yet no sign of AF. If she's gonna show, I would appreciate it if she did it soon so I could get on with the next cycle and also schedule the HSG!

Morning ladies. Well, at this point i figure i've got a 50/50 shot at a bfp. I had a temp drop yesterday on 9dpo and it's back up today. (implantation dip?) I only have 1 other fully charted cycle to compare to but by this time in that cycle i was already dropped below where i'm at now. I secretly woke up hoping for a huge temp jump! Maybe tomorrow? My lp is 13-15 days and i'm only on 10. I poas on Tuesday knowing it was going to be a bfn but i couldn't resist. Stupid dollar store tests! I promised myself i wouldn't buy anymore until it is time to test. I'm going to wait until tomorrow and buy one to do after work. If i did have an implantation dip yesterday then i wouldn't get a bfp today anyway! I'm pretty sure it's all wishful thinking anyway. I sincerely doubt we are pg. I'm just not that confident. I always thought that if i got pg that i would know. Stupid, i know. Yesterday i told dh that i didn't think we were pg because 1. It's our first cycle ttc again and 2. we only have a 20% shot at it anyway! I figure the odds are against us :p
Can someone take a gander at my chart and let me know what you think? The link is in my signature.
Deanna1018- Hang in there... it's hard. You could have implantation bleeding. There's no way to know yet especially since you didn't have a temp drop so try not to worry yourself to pieces. I'm right there with you praying for a bfp but filled with doubt. I think it's part of ttc. I blame god :D lol.
jodylovesscotty- Good luck! I'm just hoping for a baby this year too. We first started ttc Jan 2005 (then took a break) but i thought 2005 was going to be our year and it wasn't so 2006 is going to be THE year!
Kimmer & LDS Angel 19- Good luck with your wait!
lawgirl4 All my crossables are crossed for you!
Jenzen01- Lots and lots and lots and lots of baby dust for you! Good luck!
mayham- UGH! Temp drops and no af suck! I'm with you... when that happens i just want to get on with it!

When I got home last night, I had some Af like cramping going on. When I checked my CM, it also had a brown tinge to it. So, I thought for sure that AF would be here this morning.
Much to my suprise, she's not. The cramping is gone, but there is still a little bit a brown CM. My temp didn't drop like I thought it would, and no AF. Weird. I'm confused.

Hello Ladies, Can I join?
Stats:
Me: Jessie (28)
DH: Jim (28)
Married since: Oct. 25, 2003
Off BC since: July 2005
TTC Since: Sept/Oct 2005
Charting Since: Nov 2005
Known Issues: None
Right now I'm on CD26 and I am almost positive AF is on her way. I had a big temp drop a couple of days ago. I have been spotting since Monday, it started as brownish and now is red. I'm not surprised with AF arriving, since we really didn't get a chance to cover our basis and this month has been very stressful for both of us with work and family issues.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. :)

mayham Yes, I try not to check FF on my screen at work either. Though I wonder how many people would know what it is at a glance?
jeant Sorry AF is coming. :(
cowgirl Thanks for the welcome.
gymwidow And thank you, I'm doing ok now. Enough to really have the baby bug again. :)
Welcome Lilla, glad to see we're in this together. Hoping we'll both get those BFPs soon.
lawgirl I'll try to remember to edit my settings the next time I update. :)
TazLuv Hope that does the trick for you!
Jenzen I think CM is the best O predictor. Though I've never used OPKs so I guess I shouldn't knock 'em. ;)
ellidew That's a very pretty chart there. :) The little "dips" in temp don't really matter, all of your post-O temps are well above the coverline. And, 10DPO is still early, so don't give up hope. If you have perfect BD timing, I'm pretty sure the chances are a bit higher than 20%. I think that number is just overall for fertile couples to get pg in any given cycle. Not just charters like us. And, you CAN get pg your first cycle, I did. And, I totally went back and forth during my 2ww, convinced that I was pg, convinced that I was not pg. Good luck!
MrsJackson That could be implantation spotting. I got a couple of days of what looked like brown CM the week before my BFP. And, cramping then and right when AF would have shown.
Still only CD8 here, and not much is going on. Given past cycles, we'll probably begin the BD fest next week.
EDIT: Welcome Jessied1025, hope your stay is short.

It could be implantation this late? I'm 15 DPO! If it is implantation spotting, is there any chance that the little bean will stick? Seems kind of late and risky by now.

Congrats Octoberkate!
Welcome lilla, kimmer, and jessied!
Still some nice looking charts out there!
Well I came down with a headcold and sore throat last night.. yuck. So I think that's why my temps are a little up today... not that it matters, they are so wacky anyway! Oh, and my SIL had her dr appt yesterday and scheduled her c-sec.... the official date is Jan 27 at 1pm. So I'll have a new niece in just over a week! I just wish they lived closer... it's a 2 1/2 hr drive and we just don't get there very often.
Well have a great day everyone! Time to get ready for work... blech.

Well, went in for my baseline U/S before doing the clomid challenge and they found a 2.5cm cyst on my left ovary and another small one on my right side...
So no clomid challenge for me this month. I have to wait and hope that it goes away after this cycle.
I'm beyond frustrated with my body right now. I can't f'ing O on my own, so I take clomid last month... I can't f'ing O on clomid either, but heck, I sure can grow cysts it seems... GRRRR...
Anyhow, just really sad and annoyed right now. It means that there is a good chance I won't be holding a little one in 2006... sigh....since this month is out, then if all goes well next month, I can do the clomid challenge and then after that, who knows, it depends on what the DR says about my blocked fallopian tube. I may need to get a LAP done too. So that puts me out at least 3 months I think...
Anyhow, don't think I'm going to temp this month... I mean, if I haven't O'd on my own for 9 months... why would I this month?? right??? and if we get lucky, we get lucky.
Threadmistress - please update my stats to:
Issues: blocked left fallopian tube
Possible High FSH levels, bloodwork Jan 06 to confirm
Jan 06 Clomid Challenge cancelled due to 2.5cm cyst on left ovary.

Ok, turns out I have to get going so just a couple of quickies...
MrsJackson Not an expert at FF chart reading (I've been doing paper for years) but was that spotting at 9DPO? That could be implantation spotting. Other stuff could just be random.
Lilla Wonky temps... but I'd say O date was CD16, the CM seems to agree more with the temps at that point. I think figuring out the O date is the hardest part of charting!

LawGirl...I know that crazy feeling. I couldn't stand it. I was very very anxious.
MichelleRenee...sorry about the temp drop. I am waiting to get one tomorrow morning. We are both in the same boat...ugh!!!!! I am so impressed that even at a time of disappointment you are still able to see a positive (shorter cycle).
CTs-Punkin.... I am so sorry to hear about the cysts. I don't know anything about cysts...so they can go away with a new cycle? Stay strong!!!! Hoping you get "lucky" this month!!!!
Jeant...sorry to hear about the evil AF returning. I think I will be joining you tomorrow.
Thanks to all of you for your supportive words. I haven't had any further spotting today but I do feel AF coming so it is just a matter of time. With AF not officially coming today I feel alot better because at least I will have made it to dpo10 if AF shows up tomorrow. I am just going to chalk this cycle up to being a very out of ordinary event. I hope my body has gotten it out of it system.

melg I started charting after 5 months of "seeing what happened". It didn't take this long with DD #1, so I was hoping to see if there was a problem with my cycles and just to be able to time BD'ing better.
I'm 9DPO now--I really don't want to wait another week to test!! I wish there was some sort of Star Trek type scanner that would just say if you're pregnant or not--it would make life so much less stressful. I had another night of waking frequently, so no temp again today.

A Letter To the Female Reproductive System (herein referred to as “That Unpredictable, Untrustworthy, and Generally Unattractive Mess of Leaky Pipes”):
Friends, Citizens, Countrymen, Vaginas…
It is time to make a stand. For millennia, we have allowed you to control our every thought, action, and pore with your necessary hormones and discriminatory behavior (white pants deserve the same respect as black or brown!). But now, as we try to use you for your ultimate purpose, we seem to be heading down a dangerous and divisive path.
At such a time of hope and fear, you give us nothing concrete. As we meticulously log every twinge and pang, you secretly gloat at our uncertainty, and set out to confuse us even more with vague cramps, loose stools, and bloated bellies that resemble someone in their second trimester, though we just ovulated thirteen days ago.
We protest against the 2 week wait!
We protest at the contortions, poking, and peeing that you put us through twice a month!
We are outraged and ashamed that our bodies would keep secrets and cause us to rely on strips, saliva, and your tricky little sidekick, Cervical Mucous.
We call for you to abide by both the spirit and the good intentions we have displayed since the day you first made yourself known to us as The Harbinger of the Witch. We have cared for you, cleaned up after you, and defended you against the devils on our shoulders whispering not to trust a thing you say, do, or secrete.
Our demands are simple:
1) Notification at least three days prior, but no less than one day prior to ovulation, allowing us to stock the necessary decongestants, lubrications, and Viagra if necessary.
2) Clear and unmistakable signs of fertilization (note: as we are in the 21st century, emails and/or instant or text messages are preferred)
3) A separate notification of implantation (our bellybuttons serve no use as is, perhaps you can work something out with them for this one)
We do not think this is too much to ask. We receive such cooperation from other organ systems (please see Urinary Tract with any questions you may have).
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
(Please post a comment with your demands/suggestions for IMPROVING the reproductive system!) :-)

Well the old hag (AF) arrived this morning  . I am obviously disappointed. I am even more disappointed then I would normally be because I am going to see my 93 year old grandmother this afternoon and I wanted to be able to tell her we were pregnant. She has terminal cancer and from what my Dad said she is getting weaker very quickly so he is thinking that she doesn't have long. Anyway maybe I will just tell her that we are trying to get pregnant...I think that she would be happy to hear that too.
I had a short cycle (25 days) this time around which concerns me. It has gotten shorter each cycle. So now I have had a 10 LP(this time around), a 11 LP and 12 LP. I don't know if I should be concerned or not. I guess I will see what this cycle brings. I am also concerned about the back pain that I had for the better part of the week. I am now thinking that it may have been from lying around all day (and I REALLY mean lying down ALL DAY...4 movies worth...we were recovering from a crazy party the night before) on Sunday on a futon couch (not the best as far as back support goes). Thanks for letting me ramble. I am just trying to figure out all the crazy things that happened this cycle.
Well there is one good thing about AF arriving...I am going to have a drink tonight. I can't wait. I need one soooo bad. Work has been crazy and I just need to sit back and relax. Well I get out at 12 pm today but am heading about 1 hour out of town to see my grandmother. Hopefully I won't hit any bad weather. Have a great day ladies.
Threadmistress please move me to "waiting to O". Thank you!

Hula Yay! I sure hope that is indeed a line you see!!! :D
ellidew Don't give up yet - your temp is still up there! Keeping my fingers crossed.
Welcome charliezangel!
Nothing much to report today. I'm calling it 6DPO today, so I have another whole week before I really start wigging out. Trying to keep my mind off it....

Hi All -
Sorry I've been MIA. I'm trying to give myself a break from this obsession I call TTC. But let's be honest - its not working. I o'd on CD 14, but my temps were screwed up. I got FF to override my O date (FF was saying it was CD 13, but I got positive OPKs on CD 14 and CD 15 - come on people!), but they also messed up my coverline, so it looks whacked out. I have a cold and find myself waking up to temp with my mouth wide open a few days, which has made my temps wacky. I've had two break down cry fests over TTC this week. Sigh ... I'm debating not temping next month ... but I want a full set of charts to bring to my doctor in April. He said he'd run tests then.
So long story short. Congrats to the BFPs and also to the maybe-BFPs :) I'm here reading along, but trying to keep myself calm. I suppose I'll test in 4 days or so, but gosh this is exhausting!!

Threadmistress, can you please move me to waiting to O?
AF came yesterday, so I scheduled the HSG for next week. I'll spend the time before then trying not to think about the very uncomfortable sounding procedure... Okay, now I am going to attempt shout outs!
ellidew - sorry about the BFN, I hope things turn around for you!
cowgirl - that's great you had good timing, that makes the wait go a little easier!
MrsJackson05 - it stinks when we're expecting AF, and she throws us for a loop and doesn't show up right away.
jessied1025 - welcome! Sorry things have been stressful for you lately. I hope you get a bfp in this next cycle to turn things aruond for you!
bunnybeth - I don't think most people could tell what FF is if they saw it on my computer screen. It's more that I don't want it in my viewing history, in case big brother is watching. Though, if they were reading the pages I'm on at cc, it would be pretty obvious I'm ttc.
ABirney - hope you feel better soon!
jeant - sorry about AF. I am in the exact same boat as you, she showed up yesterday for me too :( Here's to this cycle -- i hope this is it for both of us!
CTs_Punkin - I'm so sorry things are on hold for you while you wait to see how the other things turn out. I know how hard it is to be patient after all this waiting... I hope everything gets cleared up soon so you can get back on track (I really hope you get a surprise bfp while you're waiting)!
MichelleRenee - I hear you, the big temp drop is the worst, I hate those mornings. At least your cycles are getting shorter, mine was 1 day longer this time (though it seemed like it was an extra week!). I hope this is the last cycle we have to wait through!
lawgirl4 - waiting is the worst! I find reading, watching tv, movies helps a lot... anything to keep me from thinking too much!
Deanna1018 - sorry about AF. I think it would be so nice to share the news that you're trying with your grandmother. I hope you get your bfp soon and that you'll still be able to share that news with her.
polkadot - I'm sorry you have to go through this again. It must be so annoying to have all of those questions asked, even if they're asked with good intentions.
melg - I decided to chart so I could see when I O'd, and how long my LP is. I also wanted to have the data to show the dr., since we've been trying for a while.
jbemommy - let me know when you develop the pregnancy scanner, okay? :)
Hula1974 - if you saw it, it's probably there! Congrats!
Lilla - good luck in your 2ww!
charliezangel - welcome!

hey girls! 4dpo today! getting closer... :p
so last night DH and I watched the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom (http://www.paramountclassics.com/madhot/) and I was bursting into tears every few minutes! (for those of you who don't know, this is *not* a sad movie! it's a documentary about the 5th grade ballroom dancing program in NYC public schools.) Now, I am the type of person who has been known to tear up at a kleenex commercial, but I definitely was surprised at the waterworks last night. DH was like "you are so PG" but a. it's way too early, IMO, for any symptoms, and b. the early PG symptoms are often identical to PMS! Aargh. So I second jbemommy's request for the PG scanner! ;)
got to run to a meeting - back later for replies!

CD 9 and still no sign of real CM. It's looking like my guess of not Oing until at least late next week will probably be correct. Ah well. Going to a co-ed baby shower this weekend with DH and a couple of our friends. We even got a joke gift (a super girly pink "diaper" bag) for the father-to-be.:p
MrsJackson05 Yes, that could be it. All the spotting could be for other reasons, and not everyone gets implantation spotting. Crossing my fingers for you still!
melg I started charting as birth control. So, of course I'm now using it for TTC.
magrat FF is on crack, I swear. If you took out the 1 low temp, it wouldn't look like a temp jump at all. Do you think your temp may have been off that morning at all?
polkadot Thank you for posting that letter, so funny! :D
Deanna1018 Sorry AF showed. :( I think telling your grandmother is a good idea if you're comfortable with it. Either that you're trying or waiting a bit to see if you get pg. I ended up not telling mine right away (mostly because I was waiting for her to have a lucid enough moment to remember who I am) and now I wish I had been able to.
Hula1974 Oooo! Hope that is a *real* line!
Welcome charliezangel! Hope your stay is short. :)
Lilla My temps are definately stranger than usual this cycle. Crossing my fingers for you!
mayham Sorry AF showed up. :( Yeah, good point on that. But, I don't really care about my viewing history so much. (Who cares what random people in IT or wherever know?) It more my direct coworkers who I have to see every day. Guess I'll view charts with more abandon now. :D
Dang, smilies count as images! I'm an emoticon addict, how can they do this to me?

Okay ladies, still no AF. No cramps, no nothing. But I do have a headache. My temp dropped a little bit again this morning, but is still well above the coverline.
Something strangem happened last night, and it may be a little bit TMI for you all.
******************************TMI***************** ***************
DH noticed a clear fluid coming out of my nipples last night. What the hell is that? I've never had that before. This morning when I looked at them, it was still there. I'm actually kind of disturbed by it, not knowing what it is. And ideas?

MrsJacskson - That is wild. If you were preggers, I'd say it was colustrum (sp?), but even then, you'd have to be VERY preggers for that to happen. Hey, do you think you could have Od a few days later than your chart says?
Hula - I hope your line gets darker. :)
Nothing much happening here. I thought I had lots of EWC the other day, but nothing now. No temp jump yet, no positive OPK, so who knows what. We're just keeping at it until my body kicks into gear. I'm on CD11, and I Od on CD16 last month, so I guess it could be a few days yet.

mrsjackson - no ideas on the clear fluid, but here's what I think about your chart. I am wondering if you didn't O until CD26. That would make you 11dpo today, which technically would still be early with regards to testing. However, that theory would run contrary to your CM patterns. So my 2nd theory is that perhaps you are just one of those statistical outliers who took longer to implant, hence your HCG levels are still too low to show up on a HPT, and that's why you are getting BFNs. Remember that all the statistics we read about and base our own experiences on are generally just averages - meaning there are people on both sides of the numbers. Have you spoken to your doctor? That could provide you with some peace of mind...
bunnybeth - love your joke baby shower present! I am sure that will provide a lot of laughs :)
mayham - hugs!! hope that the HSG goes well.
ausi2b - I totally hear you on the obsession thing (and I am only in my first two week wait!!). Part of me has been thinking that I shouldn't temp during the 2WW, but I too want to have complete charts just in case I need them down the road. I think that would be really helpful for your doctor, so I would keep charting, despite the mental/emotional side effects!
Lilla - I'm 4dpo today, so we're pretty close to each other... I am really going to try not to focus on all this over the weekend - I need a mental break! but this time next week - I am sure I'll be nuts!
charliezangel - welcome!!! good luck charting and TTC!
ellidew - keep thinking positively. cheering for you!
cowgirl - hoping that you O'ed!
Hula - WOW! hope it's not a hallucination!!

I've had alot of people ask me if I didn't O until CD26. But, the only reason the temps are lower then is because I temped about an hour and half earlier than usual. So, I would think that I did O on CD 21. Just my guess though.
I'm thinking that I'm going to go get some more tests today. Hopefully, I'll know what's going on by the end of the day.

Hi all. Sorry I went MIA for a couple of days. Work exploded on Tuesday and since then I've been running to catch up. This is the first time I've been able to get to the computer for anything other than work!
Anyway, CD8 here and nothing going on. Tonight I take my last Clomid dose and we'll start BDing this weekend just in case I O on my own before my u/s next Thursday.
bunnybeth, we're cycle buddies this time. Let's hope we both get our BFPs this month, too!
CTs Punkin, I am so sorry. Waiting is the absolute worst part of this. I hope the month flies by for you and that next month all is clear so you can get started on the Challenge and get closer to your BFP!
magrat, maybe if you take out that really low temp it will remove your O?
polkdadot, that's too funny, I love it!
Hula, ooooooh, go get that camera to work so we can see! I'm so excited for you!
Welcome to all newbies!
Many hugs to those who just got a visit from AF.
Good luck vibes to everyone waiting to test!!!
Have a great weekend ladies. I'll try to be around more next week!

01-21-2006, 05:54 AM
Haven't had time to look for the MBFP yet but congrats whoever you are!
My temp took a huge nosedive this morning so I am expecting AF to arrive shortly. Which is kind of a relief actually. Yesterday I had a mammogram and was told that if I even thought I was pregnant, I should reschedule. Well I knew based on timing it was a snowballs chance in hell so I told them to go ahead and do it.
Our BD'ing this month is totally whacko due to the fact we've had a collapsed ceiling in our living room, been dealing with insurance adjusters, and have had contractors in for the last week to do repair work so my condo is currently in shambles! This is combined with the fact that DH is under some major stress right now with studying for next months bar exam. We are going to Florida for a month after he takes the exam so both he and I can recover, so I am hoping that I'll not only come back with a tan, but a BFP! Once the stress of this exam is out of the way, we can seriously settle down to TTC.
(Oh and because the X-ray technician made me so paranoid yesterday, I took a pregnancy test this morning. I shouldn't have bothered to waste one, because it came up negative, as I suspected!)

01-21-2006, 08:12 AM
Well, I don't think I've O'd yet, but unless it holds off another 5 days or so, I'd say I'm probably out for this cycle - DH left early this morning for DC on a business trip, and the last couple days we were too exhausted to BD. I haven't had any fertile quality CM either - dry as a bone so far. It's not over until AF sings, but I'm not counting on it. With him gone my sleep probably won't be as good, and I'll be getting out the electric blanket, so I don't even know that I'll be able to tell if I O this month! Bad timing all round. Anyway, can't be too upset because I just found out I got a new job! It's with the same company I'm at now, but doing something completely different. I absolutely despised my job so this is a huge relief. It also means I get to keep my good health benefits, a raise, etc, so I feel more comfortable than ever with our decision to TTC now! (It was a bit scary when I was still looking for a new job, ready to quit my current job because I was so unhappy, not sure what kind of benefits I'd get at a new place, no FMLA if I wasn't there long enough, etc).

Alioop hope you catch your egg!
Same old stuff here. DH just told me a bit ago (as I was checking my CM.. :o ) that he thinks I'm worrying too much about TTC and thinks we should take a charting break for a couple months and just see what happens. He said he thinks the stress of worrying about it is what's preventing it from happening. But I don't want to quit charting, I figure I'll worry if I'm not charting and not knowing what's going on with my body. grrr! I told him I'd keep charting for a couple more months until my yearly exam in March/April and then we'd go from there.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm out. I took another test today, and of course it was negative. I haven't had a huge temp drop, but I guess I did have a little one.
The cramping is not here yet, and I'm still getting that discharge from my nipples. How strange.
I guess I'm not suprised, being as my LP was around 17 days.
QOTD: On average, how long is your LP?
Deanna1018
01-21-2006, 05:28 PM
Mrs. Jackson...I have had a 11 day lp, a 12 day lp and my last one was only 10 days long. I am hoping it is not a trend.
Hula...Congratulations!!!!!!
ABirney..Even though we have just started TTC my husband is saying the same thing. But I am like you in that I would be too worried if I wasn't charting.
Just waiting for AF to go away. I have started to seriously workout again. it will not only improve my health but my stress level as well. Oh and I forgot to mention we are planning a trip to Curacao Mid-March so I need to get into bathing suit shape. Have a great weekend ladies!!!!

01-21-2006, 06:46 PM
I am feeling *so* down today. temp is still climbing, but I started to spot a little in the afternoon. and I am only at 5 dpo! I've suspected that I have a progesterone issue, and I know that a shortened LP is connected to late ovulation (which I apparently have now, since my O-dates have consistently been CD 21 or later)... so I am just so depressed. I am so sure that we are out for this cycle, and now I just have to sit tight until my dr appt on feb 9th. I don't want to have to go through this for several more cycles - it seems pretty clear to me that I should have some testing done based on my past charts. sigh. I was really hoping that I was going to luck out and TTC wouldn't be too difficult. looks like that won't be my reality. :(

MrsJackson, sorry about the BFN. I thought for sure you would have a BFP by now. Your chart still looks good! Its not over till its over. :)
QOTD- My LP is usually around 14 days. It took a few cycles after BCP to regulate, but now it is pretty consistent.
I've gotten positive OPKs for the last 2 days, so the BD fest is on! I'm trying not to get my hopes up this month, but who am I kidding? ;)

QOTD: well...usually its 12-13 but one cycle, (not counting last cycle b/c of the m/c) it was 14...so it jsut makes me feel like i have to wait longer to test...this month...i am not testing until 18 DPO...I swear on my life...b/c i cannnot take a BFN...and i certainly do not want a repeat of last month...it would jsut make me crazy for sure...

lawgirl- so sorry you have to deal with this...but at least you have a dr appt...my dr wont even see me again unless I get a BFP or have been trying for over a year...and i had a m/c last month...some drs are sticklers for the rules...glad yours is willing to look around just in case....try and stay positive....hope you feel better soon...:)
Deanna- I have started to seriously workout again. it will not only improve my health but my stress level as well. I so want to be you right now...i wish i could get motiviated to start workign out...i think i am going ot go back to the gym this week and see what happens I dont want to push myself too hard...but i am not liking the way the jeans are fitting these days....maybe we can motivate each other?:p

Lawgirl, Spotting at 5DPO could be implantation spotting. I would highly doubt that this spotting is the beginnings of AF. Keep your chin up and just let your body tell you what is going on. :)
Mrs Jackson, A 17 day LP is actually really good! I know it makes waiting that much harder, but that gives baby plenty of time to implant! My LP was always 10 days and I was able to get pg so apparently it is possible even with a short LP! Good luck!

Threadmistress, you can move me back to waiting to O, AF showed this morning as I suspected.
I'm pretty certain FF called my O day wrong last month and it was actually CD 15 and not CD 19. I think I am now seeing a correlation between temps and when I O because I get pains in my lower abdomen which I thought originally thought might be gas or kidney pains and am now thinking are O pains. We'll see nxt month if I am right about this.

Kimmer, I would say it is probably "implantation spotting", which could or could not mean you are pg. I had it at 11DPO. Good luck!

Well, CD 1 for me. She finally showed. I was expecting her too, so I wasn't really all that disappointed. I actually prepared myself after the BFN at 13 DPO. I guess that's just my way of doing things.
Threadmistress, could you please move me back up to waiting to O? Thanks!
The cramping is always the worst part for me. It's so bad today, that it's making me sick to my stomach. Yucky!
Thanks to everyone who answered my question about the LP's. I didn't exactly know if I was average or not because when I look at the chart gallery on FF, there's really not too many charts that have that long of an LP.
To all of you that are testing soon, good luck! And sorry to those of us that got a visit from the old hag. I'm hating her more and more every month. Which is funny, because I used to love it when she visited!

Jess- Sorry to hear that. I hope that this is our turn this time around- we'll have October babies! :)
Did anyone else watch Scrubs on Tuesday? Carla and Turk are TTC and I almost peed my pants laughing so hard at how they portayed the unsexiness of baby-making sex vs. regular fun sex. When Turk wanted to talk to someone about how he was stressed and turned off by it all, he turned to Elliott, who has funny words for everything (Vagina is hoo hoo, and Cervical mucous is icky sticky).
I really like to see tv shows or read books about things that relate to my current life goings-on- Does anyone know of any good movies or books (fiction) that are about TTC?
ausi2b
01-22-2006, 02:40 PM
Sare79 - how funny! I just watched that episode this afternoon on television. DH and I were HYSTERICALLY laughing over that part. I think CM will officially now be called "icky sticky" in my household. :) I haven't found that most television shows or movies portray TTC correctly at all, and usually it just makes me mad. Was it Sex and the City when Charlotte actually wore a WATCH to tell her when she's ovulating? Come on - I WISH it were that easy!!

Hey ladies!
sorry AF showed MrsJackson and Bellefior!
Hope you guys figure out your spotting issues lawgirl and kimmer.
giry and ptcrn hope your eggies got caught!
I actually forgot to temp this morning. I have 2 alarm clocks, had 1 set at 6 to temp and then the other one set for later for when it was time to get up for church. I remember turning off the 6am one when it went off, then promptly went back to sleep. Ooops. Oh well.
Anyway have a great day everyone!

01-22-2006, 04:34 PM
MrsJackson and Bellifiore...sorry your AF showed. Check your Pm's MrsJackson.
ABirney...I forgot to temp this morning as well. I actually dreamed that I temped at 4:30 am (regular time). I even remember the temp I thought I had
(96.8) but when I woke up at 7 am I checked my stored temp and it was the temp from yesterday. I am thinking about TTC way too much if I am dreaming about temping. I ended up temping at 7 am but tcoyf discarded the temp..oh well.
Ausi2B and Sare79...I don't watch Scrubs but that episode sounds hysterical. I hope they show it again.
Ausi2B..I remember that episode with Charlotte. I was looking through a magazine the other day and they had a watch in there that you could enter all your fertile data and it would tell your most fertile days. Kind of like a "chart watch". I couldn't believe it..I actually had my DH look at it to make sure it was what i thought it was. Of course it didn't tell you when you ovulated though. I am not that obsessed that I would need a watch to look at all day long...ok at least I am not that obsessed right now...maybe in a few months I will be if we still aren't pregnant...LOL :D
Not too much going on here as far as TTC goes except for forgetting to temp until it was too late this morning.
On Friday I went to see my 93 year old grandmother that has terminal cancer and while she has lost a lot of weight and was very tired her mind was still as sharp as ever (she lived alone up until mid-october last year). We had a great conversation. Anyway my dad called me this afternoon and said he got a phone call at 4:30 am this morning from the nursing home that grandma was failing. Well he stayed with her till 12 noon and while she is very confused, she seemed to have stabilized (still confused but not any worse)by then . I guess things progressed quickly from friday to today. Anyway my dad wants me to be prepared for the possibility that she doesn't have much longer. I just don't want her to be in any pain. I have been very lucky to have a grandparent in my life for so long. I will make plans to go see her again (sooner rather then later). She is in a town that is about one hour away. Needless to say I am little stressed right now.
Well time to go try to relax as best as I can. Thanks for listening.

Deanna sorry about your grandmother. I just lost my grandpa a month ago, and even though we were expecting it, it was still hard.
MrsJackson sorry about AF.
I'm really starting to hate the 2ww! I have till Friday before I'm going to test, and I keep going back and forth between feeling sure AF is going to show any day and thinking maybe this is our month. It's just so hard not knowing. 12DPO and counting. The funny thing is that when we started TTC'ing I wasn't sure I was ready for another baby yet.

WTF!!!! Ok ladies, I have NO idea what is going on. So I've been having a lot of CM this weekend so I took an OPK this afternoon and it was POSITIVE. I'm on day three of my Provera which I'm taking for five days to force a period. I've done TONS of internet research and I can't find anything that says Provera would make me ovulate. If I change the spotting on days 56 & 57 to light menses this would be CD13 so I guess its possible, I have no idea. As you can see by my chart we haven't been BD'ing b/c we had given up on this cycle, we will tonight just in case but its REALLY frustrating not knowing what's going on.

jbemommy- isn't the 2ww the worst? I'm just entering it and it already stresses me out! Good luck to you testing- I hope you get your BFP!
Sare79- I watched that episode of Scrubs too- it was hilarious! I laughed so hard! I just finished reading the Conception Chronicles. It was very funny and I loved reading about what we are going through right now. I got it at my local library- you should read it!
So, I think I probably O'd yesterday because I had a pretty big temp jump today. I'll wait to call it until I get 3 high temps, since I think that's when FF will call it. Anyway, we didn't get to BD yesterday due to a bunch of circumstances, so I hope that Friday is good enough!

Thanks to each and everyone of you for your kind words. I haven't heard anything new about my grandmother since yesterday afternoon. My gut instinct is telling me that something will happen in the next day or two.
Not much going on here just waiting for AF to be over. I do have one question though. Does "spotting" after AF have to be red to be considered spotting or is spotting also brownish red? I know TMI for the morning but I had to ask.
Be back much later, 10 hour day at work today...ugh!

deanna - my thoughts are with you and your family. my grandfather died this time many years ago, so I can empathize. *hugs*
delaney - hope that your life calms down soon! 70 hr workweeks - ugh!
cowgirl - hope you O'd too! :)
ausi2b - the waiting - no matter where you are in your cycle - is definitely the hardest part of all of this - drives me crazy too!
******************************
well, girls, I am still feeling super-depressed. Today is 7 dpo and I am still "spotting." It had been sort of a pinkish brown, but today when I wiped it was definitely pinker. I took a look at my past cycles and was surprised to see that this has been my pattern since the summer - to start spotting around 5-7 dpo, for about 4-6 days, then AF. Interesting thing is that my temp tends to climb even during the spotting.
I am really hoping that even though we have only been TTC this one cycle, my doctor will look at my past charts and be okay with some testing starting next cycle. I am just *so* down about this. I really didn't think that getting PG was going to be an issue for us, and now it looks like it will be. sigh. :(
I know that there are a lot of good things about my charts - I have a clear thermal shift, my cycles are fairly consistent/predictable - but it still sucks. :( I'm still trying to have a positive outlook, though it's so hard - hope everyone has a good day. :)

OK, question. If anyone has a chance to look at my chart...day 1 was a "high" temp in comparrison to the last week. Then day2 dropped, then popped up again on day3. Since then, it's been a steady decline. I should probably look through TCOYF, but i though i'd drop by here first. Is this normal right after AF?? And do i know that i will O because i get a dip??? Does another high temp mean that I am Oing, or that it already happend?? TIA.

Wow, this thread moves so fast.
First, congrats to HULA!
I got a positive OPK yesterday, so I'm just waiting for a temp jump. For what it's worth, I'm not too keen on the ClearBlue Easy kits. Much prefer First Response.

Happy Monday, ladies.
deanna I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You'll be in my thoughts.
ausi2b Ugh, sorry you got another BFN, but don't give up! This is the freaking *worst* part of this TTC thing...the waiting and not knowing. Drives me crazy if I let it.
lawgirl I'm sorry that you are down today. Even if this spotting has occurred in the past before AF, try and keep your chin up. I'm crossing my fingers that your temp will stay nice and high.
charliezangel I'm no expert on TCOYF, but from what I understand, you can still have a high temp at the beginning of AF and have it drop off as the progesterone leaves your system. So, IMHO I think it's normal. As far as a dip when you O, that doesn't always happen. Some women have it and others don't. Don't rely on your temp to tell you when you are about to O, use your CM more instead. Once your temp spikes, that means you have already O'ed. HTH!!
Not a lot to report on my end. I'm saying it's 9DPO today no matter what FF says it is. Not feeling much as far as symptoms go, but it may still be early for that. If my temps stay up, I plan to test Friday. It's gonna be a looooooong week!

magrat Too bad on the timing for this cycle, but congrats on the new job, that's great news. Nice to reaffirm your decision to be TTC.
Congrats Hula! What is it with DH's though? Mine needed a second test to believe anything as well. :p
Kimmer That could be implantation spotting. And, if it is, it would be pointless to use a HPT now, you have to give it a few days for the levels to build after implantation. Good luck!
Deanna Sorry to hear your grandmother is not doing well. It is a stressful time, I just lost mine a few months ago. Hope you're doing ok. {{hugs}}

Deanna You asked about the color of spotting. Spotting is often dark red, brown, or even black, so that's pretty normal.
lawgirl I know *exactly* what you are talking about. I have the same exact problem -- LP spotting in several cycles. I will be super-interested to hear what your doc has to say. I have a doc appt myself to discuss this, but not until the end of Feb. Back in November when I first experienced this I saw a GYN nurse. She completely, totally blew me off and did not give me any answers -- just dumb platitudes and the old "just relax" speech. I have also had very little luck finding any info about this online.
The one thing I found was a graduate of this thread, Mrs.Can'tDecide, who had these symptoms but is now 6-7 mos pg! So that helped some. I am having the same feelings as you, frustrated with the symptoms and very, very sad that it might stand in the way of getting pg. It really sucks.
I guess the good news is that if it is low progesterone, that is easily treated with progesterone supps. I already tried progesterone cream, which had no effect, but I think that's different than the prescribed supps, which I think are vaginal suppositories. (Now *that* sounds like fun. NOT).

I am currently 7dpo. We did get somewhat good new yesterday on DH's SA. When I talked to the nurse the other day she said it was "slightly abnormal". She wouldn't give me any other details because I am not the patient. Well DH finally decided to call yesterday. The only thing wrong is that the heads of the sperm a little round instead of oval shaped. The number and mobility were fine! He said if you want anything wrong the shape of the head would be it because it won't really affect getting pregnant. So now we just wait to see what this cycle brings.

Check out my chart girls. I have NEVER had a second temp spike like that. Here's to hoping it is for a good reason.

Wow! Congrats Katmg & Lily!!! H&H 9 months to both of you!
ausi2b I know I sound like a broken record, but your chart still looks really good! Don't give up yet! Fingers crossed!
giry76 Nice temp spike! Keeping my fingers crossed that there is a reason for it too! :)
lawgirl4 I don't know, I'm sticking with my optimism here. Your temp is rising nicely despite the slight spotting. Is it still there? Still pink? Has it lessened at all? I really hope this is it for you!
10DPO here and a bit of a temp drop this morning. I'm not going to let myself get to upset bout that until I see what tomorrow's temp brings. My chart is so wacked out this cycle that I can't let one little temp shift get to me. DH and I made a Target run lastnight and I bought a 3 pack of tests. I promised myself that I wouldn't use any before Friday if there is no AF. But I know they are sitting there under the sink calling to me.......! Still no symptoms though. Ugh.

This may be a silly question, but after talking about my CM and bedily functions with you girls, i think i can handle it, LOL. i have had 3 women tell me that having sex "doggy" style is the best way to get pregnant. Is this true?? According to my friend, this allows the sperm to travel more quickly to the egg rather then drip out as it would "missionary" style. After what I have learned from TCOYF, it's not really the speed of the perm, but the CM being the right consistancy to capture and retain the sprem and allow it to travel. Am I right baout this? TIA

01-24-2006, 07:18 AM
ok lets see...
charliezangel- i have heard that is the way to do it if you want a boy...but i have heard people say that is does help the spermies swim easier b/c there is a shorter distance....but its what we do best...so we stick with it!! ;)
Lila- i hope you have to willpower not to test until AF is late...the worse thing fo rme is having to see a BFN...i hate that part...just keep repeating..**Do not test** Do not test** i hope you get what you're wishing for...:D
lawgirl & giry- i think you are both on your way to triphasic charts if ya ask me and that can be a very good thing...
giry- i never had a dip in the 2WW like i did last month and guess what i got my BFP...
i hope this is it for all of you...fingers crossed for everyone!!:D
ETA: Threadmistresses: Start the new thread whenever ya'll get time . It doesnt matter how many BFP's we get it up to ya'll totally...ya'llhave to have the time to start the new thread...

Hi ladies. CD12 and not much happening. DH left town this morning for a few days, so I'm just hoping I either O'd really early yesterday (had some brownish EWCM yesterday and my temp went up a little bit today, but not a lot and I hadn't been soundly sleeping for about an hour before I took it, so who knows), or won't O before I go to the doc on Thursday for my u/s and trigger shot. We're still planning for the IUI on Friday.
I don't mind if we wait a little longer to start a new thread. 5 BFPs sounds like a good # to me.
katmg, woohoo, congrats! H&H 9 months! :)
TazLuv, good luck to you!
Lily, wow, that really was a short and sweet stay here! Congrats! :)
jody, I'm glad you got good news about the SA!
lawgirl, keep thinking positive thoughts. The increased temps are good!
charliezangel, I don't think the position matters that much. Yes, missionary and doggy style get the sperm closer to the cervix, but I know several women who've conceived when they were on top.

CD13 and not much in the way of CM yet, but it's still early in the day. And, I usually go from a tiny bit of sticky to all-out in like a day, so still don't know if the BD will begin tonight. Waiting, waiting, waiting...
This thread does move pretty fast, but it's really not all that long, even now. Waiting for 5 BFP's would be fine with me. Or changing it to be a length of time rather than a number of BFP's. Not sure if that would make more consistent thread length...
gymwidow Well, I'm a late O-er so it was some DTD this weekend, but the BD should begin soon. Let's go eggies!
Congrats katmg! And, it's so great to hear you were able to get the BFP before you needed to start drugs and everything. :) H&H 9 months!
ellidew and kimmer Sorry AF showed up. :(
Wow, Congrats Lily! You're an early graduate! Happy and healthy 9 months to you. :D
Hula Ok, now I feel better that DH didn't believe me after 1 test. (I was "maybe" pregnant at that point.) But at least your DH is convinced now... right?!?
ausi2b Sorry for the BFN. Still, I'll cross my fingers for you.
giry76 Very nice high temp. :)
lawgirl4 Some very nice, very high temps. Quite a bit of spotting, but I'd still say it's looking good.
Lilla A single temp could be totally random, even if you can't think of a reason why it'd be off. Good luck!!!

Originally we were doing a new thread for every three BFPs or a new month, but we have been getting lots of BFPs so we have already had three this month! I think waiting for five is a good idea.
JayJay
01-24-2006, 10:05 AM
I think waiting for five is a good idea, too. And I'm not even the one who has to cut and paste all the stuff into the new thread. :p
My temps seem a little boring compared to last month at this time. I was all over the place then, but my temps are pretty flat so far. We'll see how that pans out.
Congats on the BFP's, Lily and Katmag! Hoping there will be a bunch of us following in your footsteps very very soon!

ausi2b That is exactly why I refuse to test anymore until I'm actually late--I hate getting BFN's.
lilla I'm waiting till Friday to test, too. I only have one in the house right now, so that makes it easier to wait!
I'm currently on 14DPO and CD28. My BB's are sore and I'm having lots of cramping/twinges. Unfortunately that can be pre-AF symptoms, too, so I'm trying not to get too hopeful.

ellidew and kimmer Sorry the witch showed.
ausi2bSorry for the BFN. I try to wait until I am late because I can not stand seeing them.
giry76 & lawgirl4Your temps look good.
JodyThat is some good news. I am sure you feel better knowing.

thanks to those of you who offered some input on my chart - too busy at work to do proper shout-outs! :)
so, today's update (8dpo) is that I had my highest temp yet and the spotting, while still happening, is definitely lighter today, and more brownish in color. weirdness! I am still thinking positively, though not expecting a BFP this cycle - and I'm actually okay with that. don't get me wrong, I would *love* nothing more than a BFP, but at the same time, if I have a BFN I am feeling okay about it since I am sure I'll get some answers/clarity at my dr's appt in february.
{but it would be *so* nice to have a BFP this month!! ;) }

Good morning... quick question: I think this cold is wreaking havoc on my temps. They have been really low the past few days... 96.6 today (and I was tossing and turning since waking up at 1:30am.) I have been really careful to keep my mouth closed while temping (even though I can't breathe!) Any suggestions as to why they are doing this and what I can do to make them more accuarate? TIA!

Hi ladies,
Congrats to Lily!
I was at home yesterday with a sick child, so I'm way behind on this thread.
I'm pretty sure I Od, but my temps still aren't that high.
So, threadmistress, could you move me to "testing Feb. 6-10."
JayJay
01-25-2006, 07:49 AM
Good morning ladies. Remember yesterday when I said that my temps were really flat, and unexciting? Well, today it jumped up to 98.6 Which I realize that it doesn't really mean anything since AF was here, I just thought it to be funny that I just said how flat they were for me yesterday, and this morning it changed. Weird.
ausi2b
01-25-2006, 08:30 AM
Ok girls. I had my pity party yesterday BIG TIME. Fully expected my temp to plummet today and AF to show. And ...
Temp stayed up and AF is nowhere to be found. I didn't test. I couldn't do it to myself again. What do you think? When should I test again?
Lilla
01-25-2006, 09:25 AM
ausi2b If it were me, I'd see what tomorrow's temp does and if it's still high, then test! How long is your LP usually?
Still plugging along here. Temp up today vs yesterday, so I still have hope (but still not *feeling* it this month). We'll see.
Question: Anyone think my temp jump on CD23 might be implantation? That would be exactly one week from when I think I O'ed......
(Edited 'cause I can't type)
ausi2b
01-25-2006, 09:31 AM
Thanks Lilla! My LP last month was 12, the month before was 13 (but I don't really count it b/c it was my first month off of BCP). Your plan sounds good. I can't access your chart at the moment, but usually implantations have dips in temperatures, not jumps. But that being said, you don't have to have an implantation dip to implant, and just because you did, doesn't meant that you did. Does that make sense? :)
jjsanner
01-25-2006, 09:35 AM
Ausi, Are you pretty confident on the FF o date? You had a + OPK a day after your coverline along with several days of fertile CM. Mabey you didn't o until a few days later? Your temps look like a clear thermal shift, though. Who knows.
bunnybeth
01-25-2006, 10:20 AM
CD14 and gearing up for some BD action. :D If my cycle is anywhere around normal, I expect to O between Saturday-Monday. I just really, really hope I O this cycle. My temps are more normal than last time, so I think it's probable. Still, I'm tempted to go out and try some OPK's.
cowgirl Given your CM, putting in that Saturday temp seems just fine. When all's said and done a day off either way doesn't matter that much anyways.
ABirney Is your room colder than usual or anything? That could affect your waking temp. If that's the case, you could try adding another blanket. But, it could be so many things, it can be so confusing. Good luck!
ausi2b If you really don't want to see a false BFN, you could try on 18DPO if the witch hasn't shown yet. And, I agree that your chart is confusing, even with the clear thermal shift, the CM and OPK's could be right, and you may not be as far past O as FF thinks.
Lilla Implantation usually isn't a temp jump. That said, CD23 looks like more of a typical high temp to me, not so much a jump. When are you planning on testing?
Lilla
01-25-2006, 10:32 AM
Thanks ausi and bunnybeth! Ugh - can you tell I'm starting to over-analyze my chart just a bit?! All my temps are so odd that I should know better than to see anything very difinitive in there! :) Thanks for the advice.
Oh, and I'm planning on testing Friday, bunnybeth
ausi2b
01-25-2006, 11:01 AM
Thanks JJ and BunnyBeth! I'm very sure I o'd on CD 14. My OPK was glaringly positive that day. On CD15, I had a positive OPK, but the lines were equally as dark, as compared to the day before where the test line was WAY darker than the control line. FF experts told me to mark it as a plus though. My coverline is too high, but again, the FF experts moved it to that. Makes for a less pretty chart in my opinion! Oh well. I guess I'll see what tomorrow brings and decide in the morning. ACK!

CD7 for me. I have had some cramps on my right side, which is normal for me. Usually before I O I have pains on my side for a couple of days. So now I need to determine if I should use OPK's or wait a couple more days. What do you ladies think?
Good luck to anyone getting ready to test! Crossing my fingers for you! :)

I saw my NP about this crazy long cycle and she is having me start Provera tomorrow. She said my OB/GYN will probably have me start on Clomid if I do not O this next cycle. I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. She also told me not to chart and that it is only something they recommend for people who are having problems conceiving. I responded that charting was the only thing keeping me from POAS everyday for the past 2 months wondering if I am pregnant yet. It has kept me sane during this 80 day cycle. Why do so few health care professionals believe in charting?
Anyone have experience with Provera? My NP said it will make me bloated and moody, sort of like having major PMS.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to announce that I will no longer be able to be a threadmistress for this thread. 7 DPO here and keeping everything possible crossed that this is it. DH's Aunt died yesterday after a 6 month long battle with a brain tumor. The funeral is Monday so I would like to test before then on the off chance that we get an early BFP and can tell MIL. My mom might also go to the funeral so it would be some good timing. IF it is a BFP we would wait till the "end" of the funeral to tell. Conflicting emotions are not fun and MIL needs her time to grieve.

hi everyone!
giry - so sorry for your family's loss... on the flip side, thinking positive thoughts for you and a BFP!
ausi - I'm so anxious for you!! you must promise us that you will post here first thing after you test!! :) thinking positively for you too!!
as for myself... My temp did drop yesterday, though not below the coverline, and today it was slightly higher. Today is 10 dpo and while I have definitely been experiencing something a little heavier than "spotting," it is not anything I would officially call "AF." TMI alert - sometimes when I wipe, it seems like there is substantial bleeding, but that's the only time I see it - there is *nothing* on the pad other than the faintest spotting. It's definitely strange. I am not really "holding out hope" for this cycle, but I am surprised that I haven't had full-on AF yet. Maybe in a couple of days. Anyway, I'm just trying to be positive and counting the days until my dr's appt - which is 2 weeks from today.

Hi ladies! CD14 and I'm here with some good news: my u/s this morning showed not one, but TWO eggies growing in my left ovary. Yay! :D I got my HCG shot and will go in tomorrow morning around 10:30 for my IUI. DH goes in at 8:40 for his part. He's not happy about it, but I'm not letting him complain. If the worst thing he feels is a little embarrassment about what he's in there doing, he can get over it. I'm the one taking the drugs and having the blood tests and u/s and catheters up my hoohoo.
Sare and I have PM'd and I'm happy to move into the co-threadmistress position. Michelle, I hope I'll do you justice! Good luck with school. :)
bunnybeth, let's go eggies, indeed! I'm so excited that we have two this month. I definitely wouldn't mind twins! Have fun BDing!
lawgirl, your chart looks pretty good! I'm sorry that the spotting is causing you grief. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
ABirney, I hope you feel better soon! I'm sorry I have no idea how to help keep your temps steady while you're sick.
ausi2b, I hate the waiting! I hope the day passes by quickly for you. Will you test again tomorrow?
gator, best of luck to you!!!
Ilovemygeek, I had no s/e that I could tell when I took Provera. I hope you're the same! I think some docs just don't see charting as all that accurate. I think it is for the most part, but it's definitely hard to interpret them sometimes. And there are so many things that can affect them, like the drugs many of us have to take, or when we get sick or travel or just don't sleep well, etc. If it makes you more comfortable, definitely keep charting!!!
giry, I'm so sorry. I hope you get good news this weekend. I'm sure everyone in your family will appreciate hearing it now.
suzfuz, from your chart, it doesn't look like you've O'd yet. Are you getting monitored while on the Clomid? You should have a blood test around CD21 if you can - that will tell you for sure, no matter what your chart says.
LDS, wow, what a weird chart. I'm so sorry. I hate when our bodies don't do what they're supposed to!

Didn't get anything I'd deem EWCM yesterday, so I let DH off the hook when he came home from class. He was tired, it was late, blah blah blah. Tonight, the BD begins, even sans EW because I'm just too nervous not to.
Lilla Just one more day, crossing my fingers for you!
ausi2b Ok, that makes sense. I've never used OPK's though. Such self control with not testing! But, that's great you had another temp jump. Looking pretty...
Ilovemygeek I think it's because the health care field is apparently still quite sexist. And behind the times where women's bodies are concerned. :p No Provera advice from me, but lots of luck.
suzfuzsunflower I don't see a clear O thermal shift. Do you wake up at different times on Sunday and Monday? That could explain that difference in temp.
lawgirl There's still hope, your temps are definately still up. Crossing my fingers for you.
gymwidow 2 eggs is not a bad thing. ;) Even if you don't have twins, it at least gives more places for the boys to swim to! LOL

ausi2b - I wouldn't trust anything with your temp still so high ... you might want to test just in case. Your temp really should have dropped if that's AF.
As for me, I got hairlines today, so I'm either 2DPO or 3DPO. I woke up later than usual on CD15, so I don't know if I can trust that temp. So, I either ovulated on CD14 or CD15 ... whatever.
Here's hoping the 2WW goes quickly and that there's good news at the end of it!

BabylustThanks for your input. My temp has been down the last 2 days so now FF took away my crosshairs.
Bunneybeth thanks for your thoughts.
ldsangel I had the same thing happen. Only my temps were high at the beginning.
Lawgirl That is strange. Hopefully you will get some answers in 2 weeks though I am sure waiting is going to be hard.
GymwidowCongrats on being co-mistress. Yay for there being to eggies.
Jenzen Good that you O’d even if you are not sure on the date. I would use dpo2 if you are unsure that way you won’t test to early.
Well FF took away my crosshairs since my temp dropped yesterday it was up today but not by much. My DH was gone for a week and I had really high temps while he was gone then they went down when he got back. I think my sleeping pattern was different while he was away. I guess only time will tell. Hopefully we can get some Bding ;) in the rest of the week in case I have not O’d.

I have a question, and it may be a silly one.
Ever since DH and I decided to start TTC, I've noticed two things. For one, I've noticed that my BB's are sore all the time. I mean like they have been really sore since the end of october when we started TTC. I never noticed it before we started. So is it from different hormones, possibly?
I've also noticed that my periods have gotten drastically shorter, and lighter. What in the world is causing these changes?? The cramping seems worse, but the flow doesn't last as long. I also never noticed that I spotted before AF before, but this cycle I did. Why would I start that now?
ETA: My temp was back down again this morning to 97.9 so I deleted my temp from yesterday because I was up a couple of times in the night with a bought of the stomach flu. Plus, we're dog sitting and the damn dog was barking and howling all night, so I didn't get a great night's sleep.
My OPK's should be arriving in the mail anytime now. I finally ordered some internet cheapies, just because it was pissing DH so much that I was buying all of the expensive ones, and not getting anything out of them. :(
Down to spotting today. Bring on that O!!

Ditto. I have noticed this too, and we had been off BCP for a few months before we really started.

gymwidow, I'm sure you'll be a great co-threadmistress!!!
I think it is for the best that I gave up the position..... because today I got a call that I got the internship that I applied for!!! It is an amazing opportunity for me and I am thrilled beyond belief! This has to be the next best thing to getting a BFP!!! But it's gonna keep me so busy... I hope we still have time to BD!

've also noticed that my periods have gotten drastically shorter, and lighter. What in the world is causing these changes?? The cramping seems worse, but the flow doesn't last as long. I also never noticed that I spotted before AF before, but this cycle I did. Why would I start that now?
Before you started TTC, did you use condoms when you had sex?? I've heard that semen softens the cervix. Perhaps if you are having sex closer to AF it is starting it a bit early because of this??
Am I right on that though...semen softening the cervix.?

Morning ladies!
I was going to test this morning if I had no AF...... Well, no AF to speak of yet - but my temps are starting to nosedive. I'm thinking she's about to show at any time.
Sorry to be such a downer first thing in the morning.

congrats jbemommy!!!! wonderful!!
lilla - don't give up. my temps went down 2 days ago, AND I have been spotting - but my temp rose again today. It's really not over until AF shows and your temps show a consistent fall.
hanging in here at 11 dpo! Again, I would love some opinions on my chart if anyone isn't bored by me yet! :)
edited to add - does anyone know what the cervix does after implantation? does it move up or down, and is it soft or firm?

Congrats, jbemommy!
lawgirl4 - I think your chart looks really good so far. :)
I'm 4DPO, and I don't think I'll temp for a while. There's really no reason to once I know I've ovulated. Of course, I always say this, and then I get addicted to recording my temp.
I swear, I feel like I have a hangover this morning. If it weren't so early in my cycle, I would think I was preggers. :)

CD16 and the BD has begun. Got lots of EWCM this morning already, so if all goes as usual, I should O this weekend. Which means I should really set my alarm so I can temp at the usual time for the highest accuracy. It's worth it, and I can just go back to sleep after I temp.
ausi2b Sorry AF showed. :(
MichelleRenee Congrats on the internship. I'm sure you'll find a way to work in BD to your new schedule. ;)
Lilla Not a great sign on the temp, but it's not over till AF shows.
lawgirl Another nice, high temp, it's looking really pretty. :) When are you thinking about testing? All that spotting is strange, but I wouldn't think too much of it at this point.
Congrats jbemommy! H&H 9 months to you! :D

Morning girls. Temp took a major nosedive today, so I'm calling it. Oh well. I'm trying to think positively about this month. I've decided that I am NOT temping this weekend (which is such a big deal for me - I never NOT temp!) and I'm going to enjoy some drinks, which I pretty much gave up on a few months ago. Here's to major BFPs this month!! :)
Congrats Jbemommy!
Threadmistress - please move me to waiting to O! Thanks!

Congrats jbemommy! H&H 9 months!
Sorry about AF, ausi2b. Sounds like a good plan, having a few drinks and not temping! You deserve to treat yourself!
lawgirl, I'm pretty sure the cervix stays low and firm following implantation. I know that it does (should) throughout pregnancy right up until it begins to soften again before birth. I think your chart looks great! Are you testing soon?
My temp rose a bunch today and I've just been feeling "weird" lately. I've been really lightheaded off and on, and this morning I could feel my heart practically beating out of my chest! Of course this could all just be related to stress, but I prefer to think it is FPS! :) I know its probably too early for implantation, right? I'm at 6 DPO. I'm trying not to think about it. ;)

ausi2b Sorry AF showed.
MichelleRenee Congrats on the internship. I am sure you will find some way to fit in the bding ;)
ptcrn- i like that high jump today....lookin good...
and about me: well the bd fest began last night...i used to Preseed and it was pretty good, i had instead cups that i wanted to use but when i used it ...owcha..magowcha!! SO i think i pretty much **removed** anything that was there when i took that damn thing out...but oh well, i think it still pretty early for me to O...although i did get a very faint + OPK....so hopefully i will O sometime this weekend and we will not have to worry about figuring out our schedules to fit in Bding at the beginning of next week....
later girls....everyone...think high!!
