BABY GEAR RECOMMENDATIONS
Nursery Accessories
Ocean Wonders Aquarium for crib
Prince Lionheart wipes warmer
Wipe Warmer: Best $20 I ever spent. It may seem like a silly thing to buy, but the facts are that you WILL be changing baby in the middle of the night, and there's no need to shock him/her with a cold wipe if you don't have too
Strollers/Travel
Get or make some kind of carrier: Bjorn, Sling, Wrap, etc. Most babes like to be held close to mom. My slings were lifesavers when Noah was little, and I used them up until he was nearly 2.
Floppy seat (invaluable for restaurant high chairs and shopping carts)
Bundle Me (fleece covering for stroller or car seat in TODDLER size, the infant will be outgrown too fast)
Furniture/Activity centers
Pressed for space? You can easily do without a changing table. Baby can be changed in the bassinette, crib, or on the floor. Place "changing stations" (a basket with diapers, wipes, a small foldable blankie for a pad, etc) in corners around the house. Presto!
Evenflo exersaucer
Deluxe Symphony in Motion mobile by Tiny Love. Don't go for the pretty one that matches your bedding!
Graco pack n play with bassinet and changing pad attachment - especially if you have two floors in your house. makes it much easier for baby to have a place to be changed and napped downstairs so you do not have to keep running around
Fisher Price Aquarium Swing
Wait to buy a swing. Some babes love them, some hate them. Let them try it out at BRU, or try it out at another mom's house before you buy. They're pretty expensive, and they only last to about 17-20 pounds (which in my case was around 6 months.)
Noah's vibrating bouncy chair was a Godsend. I put him in it every day to take a shower. His was the kind that works from 0-3 years, not so much a bouncy seat as a rocking chair that you can make stationary for babies. I think it's made by Fisher Price. He's 2 now and still sits in it to read. Will definitely be buying another for bb#2.
Feeding
Fisher Price Healthy Care Deluxe High Chair. It comes with toys that attach that Dylan loves and three removeable dishwasher safe trays.
Boppy pillow
Breastfeeding Essentials (if you choose to BF) Get thee a tube of Lanolin/Lansinoh. LIFESAVER. Invest in good nursing bras. Buy or make nursing pads. I loved my Boppy for nursing when Noah was a wee one, then he used it for propped up tummy time and eventually sitting up practice. Nursing pajamas were lovely for nighttime nursing.
I'd skip a highchair. Some moms love them, but not me. I was given one, and I hated cleaning the thing. Space is also an issue for us, and I preferred putting Noah in a booster type seat that attaches to a regular chair. He used the included tray at first, and now he just sits right up to the table. By 6 months when he was eating solids, the booster seat was fine.
Bathing
Infant: Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn to Toddler Tub
then once they are sitting up the Eurotub
Toys
Gymini by Tiny Love
Leapfrog Learning Table
Whoozit
Safety/Health
Baby Quiet Sounds Video monitor by Summer Infant Products
CLOTHING
Halo sleepsacks
Registering: Other than for Sleep Sacks and the like, don't register for clothes! Especially if your baby turns out to be a girl! You will get 500 onesies & many cute outfits, but none of the things you really need.
LABOR/DELIVERY
Hospital bag: I recommend packing healthy snacks (fruit, nuts, etc) as you may be in labor for awhile and the hospital will not let you eat anything per policy (popsicles & ice chips OK, but that's it). It's a valid policy, but I was in labor for more than 24 hours and I was SO GLAD I ate on the way to the hospital and brought a few granola bars & craisins. Also glad I brought: body pillow, lip balm, unsented lotion, a med length nursing gown and long (knee/thigh high) socks.

When the time comes and we start having our babies - please post in red which photo you want posted on the first page (if you want any posted there at all).
Please post in red if you would like a due date buddy (someone on this thread to notify when you have your baby so they can post your news here).

Thanks for the new thread!
Mel Sorry your DH is being deployed. I would agree with most of the other posters and think I would stay home in your situation. For us, we debated having me stay home and decided financially and emotionally it made the most sense. Now I could not imagine having to leave Dylan every day. And I have to tell you - I am NEVER bored. not once in his almost 19 months. We do one class a session, get together with other friends and their kids...and when he naps that is my quiet time. I love SAH. Good luck with your decision
Sully So glad to hear you and baby are doing well!
GTT results I took the test on a Saturday and my OB called that monday with the news that I failed
Jane We ended up with the Pilot, but I loved the CRV when I test drove it. As far as I am concerned, you can't go wrong with a Honda ever
Mel and Jennifer I swear when I saw there was a Friendly's less than a mile away when we were househunting, that factored into my decision to buy this house! :p oh and Mel 17 pounds once you are way past the halfway mark is great!! You are not on track to gain much at all.
Jeeplover love the bedding and that lamp sounds so cute! We were so tempted to buy the sit n stroll but we do not travel enough to justify the $200. I am not sure that I would use it as my everyday carseat
Oh and someone had posted about gaining a pound a week. That is what my practice says is the perfect amount once you are out of the 1st trimester
I think I am caught up on SOs :D

Whoo hoo a new thread! I would like a due date buddy! I am confused though? Does it have to be someone due aorund your time, or anyone in the thread? We just call this person to post our news once we are in labor/give birth? Sorry I am new and stupid!
Ladies, thanks for all your responses with my SAH decisions. I know SAH would be best, I will just have to keep myself busy! Otherwise I will just miss DH. I do want to SAH, I just have reservations about putting my career plans on hold. I have thought about moving home with my parents, but don't know if I they would drive me crazy for 8 whole months. I'll most likely visit a few different people and stay with my parents for a month of two over the holidays. Lots going on, but at least we know now and can prepare :)

My MIL is a Friendly's addict. :p My SIL actually received gifts at her baby shower from Friendly's employees. :eek: :p
Mel - For the due date buddies you call or email them when you can to update them. Some people would rather wait and post themselves when they get home or some bring a laptop to the hospital and post from there. The goal is to pair up people who have due dates far apart so that you both aren't in the hospital at the same time and can't post for each other. Does this make sense?
Sal - DH has a Honda Civic and its been a great car - just small. He seems most comfortable going with the Honda. I liked all of our top choices so I'm pretty much leaving it up to him. And its certainly a plus that the Honda salesperson was one of the least slimy we dealt with.

Due Date Buddies: I don't think i need one. We'll have internet access from our hospital and if DH isn't up to posting the news from there we'll be home after just a day or two.
Weight Gain: Since 25-40 pounds overall is the typical range of a 'healthy gain' i don't think anyone has anything to worry about. I started out small (size 4) and i've put on 25 lbs. so far. I feel great and my midwife's been really pleased by my gain. People are often surprised when i tell them b/c they can't figure out where all that weight is hiding. I'm pretty sure i'll put on about 35-40 lb. total which is fine with me as long as its gained by eating healthy. That's how much my mom put on with each pregnancy and it all came off within a year each time.

I just checked a huge stack out from the library that i've been going through and wondered what others are reading :).

I would like a due date buddy!
I am going to repost my last post from the old thread about the stroller:
Oh question on strollers, has anyone tested this stroller out in a store?

The Sit-n-Stroll 5-in-1 travel system I haven't seen it in a store around here and I was just wondering about it.

QOTD:
So far I have read
-The Mother of All Pregnancy Books: The Ultimate Guide to Conception, Birth, and Everything In Between
-Baby Bargains - aka my baby product bible!
-Exercising Through Your Pregnancy (read here and there)
-Birthing from Within: An Extra-Ordinary Guide to Childbirth Preparation
(read here and there, too "froofy" for me)
-Belly Laughs
I am currently reading
-The Pregnancy Journal: A Day To Day Guide To A Healthy And Happy Pregnancy (read each week)
-The Birth Book : Everything You Need to Know to Have a Safe and Satisfying Birth
I plan to read
-Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way
-Active Birth : The New Approach to Giving Birth Naturally
Wow, I better get reading!!

Jane - Thanks for starting the new thread! We have two Hondas (well one is an Acura but it is made by Honda) and when we get another car it will be a Honda.
jeeplover - Very cute bedding!
GTT result - I got mine right away. They used an instant reader so I knew I failed an hour after I drank that stuff. :(
QOTD - I am trying to read Breastfeeding After Reduction. Every once in a while I refer to the Pregnancy Week by Week book just to see what's going on for the week I'm in.
I'd like a due date buddy.
Happy hump day!
Jane&Andy
01-18-2006, 11:28 AM
QOTD: I've been reading WTEWYE but not reading it very much. My sister is giving me a baby sleep book - I think its Healthy Sleep Habits - as a shower gift. I'm anxious to move on to reading that one.
I'm a registry peeking loon these days. I can't stop myself. :o :p
Kopper

Yay for the new thread!
Sal03 & briamcd - Sorry about failing the GTT. Good luck on the 3 hour test!
briamcd - I love the name you picked out. :)
jeeplover - That's a great deal on the dresser/changing table combo! I'm sorry to hear about your PUPPS but glad it is a little better. My mom had it with me and she still talks about how uncomfortable she was. Congrats on the job btw.
Sully - I'm glad to hear you are doing so well!
Uskiku - Good luck in your doctor search. I hope you find one you like.
Mel - I agree with everyone else. Going to stay with family and friends sounds like a great idea.
Friendly's - Can you believe I've never been to a Friendly's? :eek: We don't have them around here. :)
New cars - We are still debating about what to get. Right now we are looking at the Toyota Prius and Matrix. I don't really want another SUV and DH is dead set against getting a minivan.
Weight gain - Yikes! After doing very well in the 1st half I gained a ton over Christmas. I'm back to gaining around 1lb per week now but I'm up nearly 25lbs. :o Since I'm measuring ~3 weeks ahead, maybe that has something to do with it. :confused:
---
Work is still pretty busy. I've made two prenatal consult appointments with pediatricians. Now I have to come up with a list of questions to ask! I was going to make an appointment with another group of doctors but they were being such a pain that I didn't even want to deal with them. The lady said she would schedule me an appointment and then call back with a date and time. :rolleyes: I guess I was just supposed to take off work whenever they could fit me in. She also gave me a hard time since I'm not due until April. Apparently they don't like to see people for consults until about a month before their due date. I told her never mind and I would call back in a few weeks if I hadn't found another doctor I liked.

Books QOTD
Read:
Mother of all Pregnancy books
Girlfriend's Guide to Preg (Hated this!)
Fit Preganancy (or some other pregancy fitness book)
Bradley birth book
Ina May Gaskin's Natural Childbirth
Reading:
Happiest Baby on the Block
Need to read:
Breastfeeding book
more childbirth books!
Jeeplover: Haven't pushed that stroller myself, but read enough reviews on baby bargains website to stay away from it -- its hard to steer, infants slump too much, and it doesn't fit down the aisle of an airplane.
Using it to get a toddler through the airport and use it as a carseat at your destination seems like its perfect use!!

Books: Weekly I read "Your Pregnancy week by week". I have also started "Happiest Baby on the Block", but we just got the DVD so I will probably just watch that. Like Mel, "Baby Bargains" is my bible! I loved having it while registering.
Due Date Buddy: I will have DH post in here (or maybe I will if we have internet access at the hospital).
Weight: As of Friday (25 weeks) I was up 14.4 lbs, but as of this morning I was up 13 lbs.

QOTD not really reading this time around. first time I read the girlfriend's guide and what to expect. And I got a little book called "my Boys Can Swim" for DH. it was hysterical. For BFing, I LOVED "So That's What They're For: Breastfeeding Basics" by Janet Tamaro. Between that book and lurking in the BFing thread for months, I truly believe that led us to such a long successful BFing experience.
For those of you reading books like Healthy Sleep Habits etc, GOOD IDEA. I truly believe it is never too early to get into good sleep habits and I will definitely be starting things like bedtime routines much earlier with this baby. Even when it seems like it is so early and it is not making a difference, I personally think it does!
I have a nosebleed right now. lovely. I got them once in a while first pregnancy and I guess they are going to appear again now. :rolleyes:

Kopper: Good luck interviewing a pediatrician! The main things i would ask about are what they recommend re: starting solids (b/c the new AAP recc's are to not start until 6 months), how knowledgable they are about breastfeeding (b/c a lot of peds don't even get much training in this area at all and i've seen them give terrible bf advice!), how they handle ear infections (if they prescribe antibiotics each time no matter what that's not good and is not recommended anymore) and just that you generally feel that they're supportive of your parenting style :). I found our ped through the recc's of a friend b/c they support and are knowledgable about some things that are important to me.
QOTD:
Read: The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, Your Pregnancy Week by Week, Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (didn't like it!), Baby Bargains
Reading: The Birth Book by Dr. Sears, Homebirth by Sheila Kitzinger, the Bradley Workbook from our class along with a binder of articles our teacher gave us
In the que: Husband Coached Childbirth, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way, and Spiritual Midwifery by Sheila Kitzinger.

For those of you who'd read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth would you recommend it? I was thinking about buying this one as well. I already have Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way, Active Birth : The New Approach to Giving Birth Naturally, and The Birth Book. Do I need another birth book? Hmm I just don't want to miss any chance to make my goal on NCB a success!

Mel: The cool thing about the Ina May book is that the whole first half is dozens and dozens of real birth stories--some of the other childbirth books don't focus on that as much. Maybe you could get it from the library if you don't want to spend the $$? I haven't bought any books b/c my library has a good selection.

Yay for our new thread!! We're in the homestretch ladies!!
Updates: next appt: Feb. 6
I'd like a birth buddy too! I'm sure we'll take the laptop and be informing everyone right away of the stats etc., but it's nice to let someone know that we are in labor and on our way.. and then everyone can sit around and wait with bated breath LOL
I need to get some of these books... off to the library later.

Unfortunately my library does not carry that many books on pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. The books that I saw they had were all like published in the 70's. I decided too much has changed since then. I'm reading your preg week by week. and I just bought, so that's what they're for...

We had our ultrasound today, to see if our little boy is growing how he should be, and I'm thrilled to report that he seems to be thriving - he weighs 2.2 pounds! :D We were just over-the-moon happy to see him so healthy and active. He has chubby cheeks! :D And the coolest thing was that the tech wanted to test out the 3D machine and asked if we mind if she uses us to "practise" -- we didn't! ;) By the time we got the 3D machine going, baby was already trying to go back to sleep (had to drink that &^%$## sugar drink before the ultrasound -- truly the most revolting stuff I've ever tasted! -- so that must have woken him up) and covered his face with his hands, so we didn't get a very good look at his face. But we do have an absolutely adorable picture of him pressing his little nose and cheeks against his arm... awww... he looked so darn cute, I simply cannot wait to hold him in my arms!
Thanks everyone for sympathizing with DH job (non-)situation; we really appreciate it!
Sevilla Thank you! Unfortunately a doula is probably not going to be an option for me because of the $$$ issue. I just felt like that doctor was very much "I know what's best because I'm an MD" type. A bully, at worst... I really wouldn't want to fight someone while in labor, but I got a feeling that he might be pushing for a C-section at the slightest and slimmest excuse... A friend of mine recommended her doctor -- a smaller office (4 doctors instead of 7) and they also have midwives, which I think is a good sign. I'll look into it later this week.
Books I've read "Ina May's guide". Am currently reading "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth". I actually didn't finish the birth stories' section in Ina May's book, but liked some techniques she recommended. I borrowed it from a friend and have forgotten a lot, so I need to re-read some chapters nearer the time.
Book recommendation, anyone? Can anyone recommend a good book with descriptions of different stages of labor and how to cope/relax/get through them? I'm thinking of ordering Penny Simkin's "The Birth Partner" -- has anyone read it?
Due date buddy Think I'm OK -- DH can update if there's no ethernet connection at the hospital.
And last but not least -- thank you so much, wonderful threadmistress for this beautiful new thread! :) I got goosbumps seeing the "final trimester" on the title and seeing all those places reserved for baby pics...!

GTT - I haven't heard anything from the dr., so I think I passed. They only call if you have to come in for the 3 hour :rolleyes:
Mel - Just chiming in about the SAH question. I think I'd like to do it if we could afford it and still continue with our lifestyle. We made the decision before we bought our new house a few months ago that if we bought something as big as this, I'd continue working. I'm OK with that. Plus, I think for the type of work I do that it would be hard to re-enter the workforce after taking an extended time off. Now, if I won the lottery, that'd be a whole other question :p Definitely do what you feel most comfortable doing!
Books - I've read several pregnancy ones (Girlfriend's Guide; WTEWYE; Pregnancy Sucks; others) and sleep teaching ones (Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child; Happiest Baby on the Block) and of course, I love love love Baby Bargains. But I haven't even thought of reading a childbirth one. Yikes, maybe I'm just trying not to think about that part ;) Will have to look up some of your recommendations.
Kopper - Sorry work is so busy. Don't our bosses know we have more important things to think about :p Good luck interviewing peds.
Sal - I've gotten a nosebleed almost daily since 2d trimester. :rolleyes: I'm going to check out that BFing book. I know I want to BF, just not sure about the "how to" part of it.
Uskiku - Yay for a great u/s and for getting to see the 3D!
**** I can't remember if I posted, but we bought our bedding, glider, and ottoman last weekend from USA Baby. I was a little chagrined to not be able to find our bedding brand in Baby Bargains, but I think it's OK :o The glider and ottoman are Best Chair, mint green, suede-y soft material. We'll pick them up on Saturday and then hopefully post pics. We also decided to get an armoire and changing table to round out the room. I'm so excited that it's coming along.
DH is at a work event so I'm off to scrounge around for some dinner!

Txfish: From the last thread, but i wanted to say that i think your bedding is so cute!
Usiku: I hope looking into the other practice works well for you. Ugh i would definitely run from a doctor who was c-section happy, did you happen to ask what his csection rate was? My practice's rate is below 20% which was important to me, plus they offer VBACs. In terms of a book detailing the different stages of labor, i think that Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way by Susan McCutcheon does a great job--there are 100 pages devoted to the various stages of labor and how to cope with them, in a lot of detail. They also give exercises and such to do to help your body prepare which i've found helpful (and relaxing too!). http://www.bellywomen.net is a website to find free doula services, so maybe that could be an option for you too. HTH!

Phew - I'm glad we're in the same boat. I was a size 2/4 and I've gained 26/27 so far, good lord. But I think I'm good, and my Doc says its fine and he sees no problem. Our due dates are a week apart, and I have also kind of accepted the whole, I'm gonna gain 30 something/40 something pounds.
I just hope I can squeeze my @$$ into my old jeans at SOME point after the baby is born :-D
Yay for our new thread!!
I'm getting anxious....I want to meet the baby already!! Am I the only one who's had enough of being pg. Don't get me wrong, I love feeling the baby move around and everything,, I just feel so cumbersome and BIG, like I can't even maneuver properly, even turning over in bed is a feat in and of itself....
Not sure if I posted this in the old thread but my 3 hr glucose test came back fine, I do not have GD. I got my Rhogam shot last week and it HURT! Apparently they have to keep them refrigerated so when it goes into your muscle its really cold and you feel it!! I am normally very good with shots but that was really bad!
We registered @ Buy Buy Baby and my shower invites are out--my shower is 2/26. We picked the "Silver Lining" bedding for the crib--we have one bedroom so baby will be in our room..the walls are green in my bedroom so this matched, and it is also gender neutral.

Glucose Test - I took my GTT a few weeks ago, and passesd with a 107. I was thrilled only b/c my family has a problem with high blood pressure, diabetes, and weight. So, I try very hard to not fall into that trouble.
QOTD - Books
I've been reading/have read several: Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy, Girlfriends Guide to Surviving the First Year of Motherhood, WTEWYE, Super Nanny, Baby Bargains.
On order: Happiest Baby on the Block, Firsts Meals - Some make your own baby food book, Baby Signs, Girlfriends Guide to Getting Your Groove Back.
I'm a book junkie :)
Car/SUV Purchase - Just got the call yesterday that our RX 330 is IN!!! Yahoo, so we're picking it up Friday - oh gosh, that's tomorrow isn't it? :) Awww, I have to clean out my Prelude and say good bye :( Isn't it funny how you become attached to a vehicle?? It was my first 'real' purchase after college. I didn't sleep for 3 days b/c I had a car payment, now I have a mortgage and a baby on the way, and I'm sleeping JUST FINE haha.
Mel - As for SAH, I am one who is all for it if you can afford it. Luckily I don't have to make that tough decision, b/c I work from the house anyway, but I wouldn't be able to be a SAHM b/c we just bought a ginormous house, that came with a ginormous mortgage payment, hahaha. But I am considering going part time so I don't feel guilty for not being at full attention for work after our baby is born.

Hee hee, i tried on my pre-pg jeans two days ago just to see if i'd really gotten bigger all over or just in my belly. I was still able to get them on just fine. Zipping them isn't happening, lol, but they fit my legs and butt great :). I love stretchy jeans.

Mel - yes we WILL :) I kind of see it as a game, I lost a lot of weight before my wedding, and kept it off for so long this time, well until this baby came along, hehe. So it'll be fun to do it again, knowing I totally can do it.

I was looking at the Skip Hop diaper bags for DH and was going to order one online today. Instead I decided to see what stores in the area carry them and found that the baby shop down the street carries them. So Bella (our dog) and I went for a walk at lunch today and I stopped to see what they carried. I was shocked to find that there Skip Hop bags were on sale for 70% OFF! I bought DH the Skip Hop Dash Diaper Bag for $18! I was going to spend $68 + shipping online but I am glad I decided to wait! Here it is...

We're thinking of purchasing just two cheaper diaper bags, both from Lands End. I'm a purse-a-holic (but only with Louis Vuitton - so it gets pretty expenseive :(), so I'm really trying to limit my diaper bag purchases. I was going to buy the Juicy diaper bag, but decided I should spend my money more wisely, I've gotten into that good habit lately :-D.

Charissa - I don't know which Land's End bags you were looking at but I bought 2. Obviously I haven't used them yet but they appear to be very nice. I have the backpack and the little tripper. My sister has the backpack too and has been very happy with it. I have a bad back so I wanted a backpack for my larger bag.
I ordered some baskets for the nursery from JC Penny (they have a great color selection) and they came today. They're really nice.

MMH I can not believe the deal you got. That is unbelievable. In Buy Buy Baby I just looked at one for $64!
KB glad your 3 hour went well. mine is next saturday. I am dreading it
Weight I am also a 2/4 and really watched my weight with Dylan. But I am not as worried this time because after he was born I lost 20 pounds in the first two weeks and the rest of the weight and THEN some came off so fast with BFing. So don't worry! QOTD: I have been reading WTEWYE, and the Mayo Book of Pregnancy, as well as WTEITFY, and some pregnancy magazines. I registered for some books on making your own baby food, as well as healthy child books and sleeping books. I love to read so anything I can get my hands on I read!
Well I spent the day running around getting our cars registered and my license changed over finally to VA. I didn't get a call from the doctor about my GTT so I am taking that as I passed it. I meet with the high risk OB tomorrow and we get to see our little boy as I am scheduled for an ultrasound! This weekend we are going to a baby "expo" at the hospital and they are going to give tours so I am excited about that. Also there are supposed to be some pediatricians there as well!

MMH GREAT score on the bag!
Sevilla I wish I'd asked him about his c-section rate, but I didn't... Part of his "problem" might have been a very pretty and young resident who was also present. This doctor seems to be a 40 or 50-something and was clearly showing off... Whatever, really.
Oh, and thanks so much for that website; I'll check it out!
Just made a couple of calls and it looks like there will be no problems with transferring to another office! :)
Confessions Hmmm... I too have not given up deli meat :eek: (Jrsygirl, I'm right there with you on this one! I mean, seriously, how many people do you know who have gotten listeria? ;) ) I've had 2-3 sips of red wine and oh, yes, not enough kegels here too... Must. work. on. that. last one.

Had the appointment with the high risk OB today, it was a different one than that last guy I met with. I like this one alot better, of course he has heard quite a bit about me from some people that work at the hospital (DH works with them as their architect). He was really nice and said that my case of pulmonary hypertension was really mild and the reason is that we were holding on a conversation while I was lying on my back and he said that if I had a severe case I wouldn't be able to converse so easily with him. We got to see our little man who now weighs 2 lb 2 oz! I am still measuring farther along than my actuall due date but that is ok.
Confessions: I have drank caffienated tea maybe once a week if that, not enough kegels, I am horrible at taking my prenatal vitamins especially when I was on 4 different prescriptions and once in a while I take a sip of my husbands Barq's rootbeer!

Jane - The nursery is looking good! I am so jealous you get to do yours now. We will not be in the our new house till the last week in March, so I have to wait. Luckily my mom is going to fly down just to help me paint and set up :)
MMH - like the others, wow what a diaper bag deal!
Sal - you have just given me so much hope about dropping the weight. I'm not too worried since I am going everything I can to stay in shape, but it's nice to hear it's possible to drop it all quickly!
Confessions
I have an occasional diet soda, lots of foods w/splenda, had sushi once (the good stuff with the raw fish wrapped on the outside), I eat deli meat every now and then, I usually forget to take my vitamins on the weekend, and I haven't done nearly enough kegals.
Diaper Bag
I bought a cheap one from Gap a while back that I really like, but I have also been craving the designer ones. Hmmm I may treat myself!

Quick post to say awesome nursery Jane! You did a great job!
And since confessions are good for the soul ;) : I was pretty strict with myself during first trimester, but once the second one hit...I eat lunch meat, brie, and blue cheese (not all together). I've had 2 iced teas this week (none before tho) and probably 5 or 6 "real" sodas during the pregnancy. I haven't even started doing kegels. Whew - I feel better.

Mel - yay for the work shower! Have fun with your nursery in March. :) My sister moved 2wks before her due date and had to wait until then to get her nursery set up too - but she got it done and it turned out great.
jeeplover - I'm glad your appt went well. :)
Confessions - I still drink diet Dr. Pepper frequently (but stay well below the max recommended caffeine allowance), eat deli meat periodically, I forget to take my calcium supplements, I've had a few sips of wine, I rarely do kegals, I've eaten brie (although it was pasteurized so I don't think its really a confession but figured I'd mention it since someone else did).
My DH's work has started asking about potential days to throw us a shower. His office is only 10min from mine so its easy enough for me to get over there without taking too much time off. :)
thanks again for the nursery compliments. :)
My dog is sick AGAIN. Its seems minor this time but he still woke me up a lot last night. I didn't feel bad this morning but now the exhaustion has hit. oh fun...I like confessions
Confessions I eat deli meat all the time, also did with Dylan. I eat SO much sugar this pregnancy. probably why I failed my 1 hour :o I do not at all remember to bend from the knees when picking up Dylan and that is probably why my back kills all the time. I eat lots of soft cheeses like brie and goat but they are all pasteurized so I am not sure that is a real confession. I do not think I have done ONE kegel this pregnancy and though I have sworn to start it tons of times, still have yet to do my prenatal yoga video.

Jane - Your nursery looks great (from that picture!). You must be so thrilled with it and seeing it all come together.
Mel - That's wonderful about the shower. How exciting!
MMH - What a fantastic deal on the bag! Score for you!
jeeplover - I'm so glad to hear your appointment went well.
Confessions- Prior to the drama in my life (pre-bedrest), I was not good at all. I had deli meat sandwiches once a week probably and worst of all, they usually had been sitting out for an hour before I ate them (at work, I just got something if there were leftovers). Sometimes I would heat them up, but usually not. Some had sprouts. I beat myself up about it a little bit at first convinced it had something to do with my water breaking -- which is silly. Now, I'm strictly by the book. I will drink half a Coke if I have a headache (maybe twice a month), but other than that I don't drink caffeine b/c I have to drink so much water every day and that dehydrates you.
I'm not even sure if I know how to do Kegels. And I haven't read any pregnancy books. I do have WTEWYE, but since my pregnancy has been what no one expects, I figure what's the use. ;) I still eat too many sweets.

Hi everyone,
The new thread is great and moves so fast these days. I'll try and do some SO's.
Mel--That's great about you getting a shower. I'm sure it will be fun just seeing all the baby things.
MMH--what a great deal on that bag! I know my mom is going to get me one I just can't wait to see which one it is. My mom has pretty good taste and knows what I like.
Jane--your nursery is too cute! I soo wish I was that organized and ahead of the game. Hopefully, I'll have mine done next month. DH said we might even have enough $$ to paint the baby's room too (we're having some painting done in our living room/dining room)
jeeplover--glad your appt went well and that you like your dr.
As for me still busy as usual at work. I'm really looking forward to my shower on the 11th, can't wait. I know the invites just went out but I can't help but stalk my registeries!
Here are my confessions: I've eaten salad dressing that had red wine in it a handful of times, still eat fast food at least 2x a week:o , done a few Kegels. I have had soda just in the last trimester I really didn't beforehand. Oh and I too move things above 20 lbs.

Jane - Your nursery looks great! I didn't even notice your valances need ironing. I thought they were pleats. Sorry about your dog.
Mel - Congrats on getting a shower! Can you post a pic of your Gap diaper bag? I'm looking at some of theirs right now.
Sully - I didn't do one Kegel my last pregnancy and haven't done one this one either. I don't think it affected me one bit during labor. WTEWYE probably explains how to do them. :)
Confessions - I have a Coke every once in a while when I get a craving. I'm totally addicted to HoHo's right now. It would help if they weren't on sale when I'm at the grocery. I'm also bad about Krispy Kreme donuts. Every so often I drink milk too close to when I'm taking my vitamin. And I don't drink near enough water.

Jennifer - nope, no pleats - just wrinkles from being folded in the packaging. :p but thanks! :)
I'm working on doing inventory in the lab now. This sucks. I'm just not up to crawling around on the floor and climbing on counters to reach high shelves anymore. :(

I think the qulity of the materials are very good. I was pleasently surprised considering it was only $40 or so. I will probably get another one that is a little more sophisticated, but this one is fun to start!

Question - Is anyone thinking about cloth diapering? I think DH and I might do this and i've read through the CD'ing thread in Parenting, but i wondered if anyone in here was too.
ETA: Here is my 30w0d belly shot. No stretch marks yet! And no itchy belly either (which is what i'm most happy about).

30wks today! :)
DH asked yesterday how far along I was (he knows approximate but doesn't keep track like I do) and I told him I'd be 30wks the next day. His repsonse was a very pouty - "that's not cool." I didn't point out that in only 7wks we'd be full term - I don't think he was ready to hear that.
My furniture has been ordered finally. So it should come in about 6wks, hopefully less.
The dog got better and then had a relapse last night. This is exhausting me. DH plans to rid the yard of all sticks, pine cones, etc since they seem to be the cause of a lot of his tummy issues. Hopefully that will help.
You look great Sevilla. :)
Seems like just yesterday we were posting pictures of our little bumps, my how we've grown. :)

Hooray for hitting 30 weeks, Jane!! And congrats on ordering the furniture!
Sevilla you look fantabulous! :) I've been thinking about cloth diapering, though I'd probably start after the summer (if I don't go back to work) -- if all goes well, we'd like to visit both sides of the family this summer and it'll be easier to use disposable while traveling (I know, I know, I *should* be more environmentally conscious than that... :o ). My main concern is that we live in an apartment complex and share washing machines, so I imagine I should ask everyone in the building if they are OK with us washing our um... very dirty diapers there :rolleyes: (we don't have diaper service in the area).
Mel great diaper bag!
Nothing much to report, am trying to psych myself up for cleaning the apartment... :cool:
Sal03

cloth diapering we did not even consider this. not exactly environmentally friendly but with the amount of times per day I change diapers, I can not imagine not using disposables. Especially in the beginning with those huge blowout poops that are one of the joys of BFing :p
Jane YAY - so glad you finally got everything ordered!
Question for those of you who had to or have taken the 3 hour glucose test...I don't know how to eat this week. Obviously I don't want to mess around with the test and if I have GD I will take it seriously. But I just barely failed the 1 hour by a few points. Should I really limit my sugar this week? I would think so but then I have heard of one OB telling people to really carb load in the few days before the test so the glucala (spelling??) will not be such a shock to the system. My OB did not tell me anything about eating prior to the test except the annoying fasting the day of.

Sal: I would eat normally. Definitely *don't* od on carbs/sugar.

mel - I like that bag. I'm still deciding if I want something pink or neutral since I'll still have Caden's stuff in there too.
Jane - Congrats on being 30 weeks and getting the furniture ordered.
Sal - Both times I took the 3 hour I just watched what I ate the day before. I ate normal but didn't eat as much sugar as I normally would have. Of course I failed 1/4 the first time and passed all this time. Good luck!
cloth diapering - Not for me.
mel7dog
01-23-2006, 07:15 AM
Jennifer - Yes, I bought that bag before I knew it was a boy. Doesn't really matter to me, but I will most likely get another more neutral/sophisticated bag as well.
GT - Also wondering about "preparing for the test". I normally eat a a little candy almost everyday, should I skip this since my test is tomorrow?
cloth diapering - I did consider this, as I read it can save a lot of $ in the long run and be better for the baby's skin. But I am pretty sure we've desided not to use them. I can't imagine washing all those diapers everyday, espeically since we plan to be on the go a lot. I may use some every so often at home though.
charissa
01-23-2006, 07:48 AM
GT - I ate totally normal, I usually follow a "lower carb" type diet before I was pregnant. But after I found out about the pregnancy, just went back to eating normal balanced meals, and that includes candy, hehehe.
The night before my test I even shared a strawberry banana shake with DH at Rubys :), so I think if you have it you have it, if you don't, you don't.
I scored a 107 on my GT test, so I think it just depends on the individual.
Good luck ladies :)
Jane&Andy
01-23-2006, 08:32 AM
Sal - I didn't eat differently aside from following the instructions I was given the morning of the test.
briamcd
01-23-2006, 08:43 AM
I'm not eating differently b/c if i want to pass or fail based on how i'm going to be eating the rest of my pregnancy. If I eat "good" right before the test, and go back to my regular diet after the test... there really wouldn't be a point in the test. Ya know. I could still have GD and not know it that way.
Cloth Diapers - I think i'm going to have a hard enough time cleaning a poopy butt, I don't think I could also clean a poopy diaper. :) So, definetly disposal for me. Weak stomach.

Hi girls!
Confessions: I am the worst mommy :o I forget my prenatals all the time (like, I think I went 2 weeks without one.) I drink a dr pepper almost every day. I did an absolute TON of iced tea in the first trimester, and occasionally eat deli meat. I have had very little wine, and I'm not worried about that one anyway -- it's just so minimal. But I eat too much sugar, and too much fast food. Kegels? Ha! And I absolutely carry around too much weight; I really try not to, but I do still pick up my DD (she's 35 lbs) -- not because she needs to be carried; please, she's 4! But because I have always picked her up and loved on her and swung her around and it's just habit. My sister totally called me out on it...
Have yet to pick out a single diaper bag... but I totally agree that it doesn't matter at all whether you have a boy or girl; just get something that YOU think is cute and want to carry!
All you teeny women are taunting me LOL I'm normally a 12/14, but I do know that all 25-30 lbs of baby weight was GONE within 3 wks last time. Eating well, drinking tons of water and nursing are really amazing for a slightly overweight body!! Now the trick is to keep that going this time... I really slacked off after I was back to my regular weight last time. Need to keep it going and take advantage of the rapid-fuel burning my body will be doing and get to my ideal weight!!
Got to visit with my sister this weekend; she brought me yet another box of baby clothes -- we now have 3 full boxes, sized up to 1 year. I think we're pretty well set for a while on clothes! DH started to (finally) clear out the study while we were out of town, so we're almost ready to paint, assuming I can decide HOW I want to paint.
I'm going at lunch to get my BRU registry fixed -- they have got it messed up somehow and I can't update it online. I think my shower is going to be 2/25, so I want to get it ready to go pronto!
OK that's all I've got for now... sorry no personals -- I really will take notes one of these days. Talk to you soon!

mel - I like the diaper bag you picked out, I just wish it came in green. Most of my stuff is neutral colors, including all of my previous diaper bag. Even though we're having a girl this time, I'd like for everything not to be pink. Besides, DH might not like carrying a pink bag. :)

Hi everyone,
I hope all of you had a good weekend. Not much going on with me, DH is on a short business trip to San Diego until Thursday, so my parents spent last night with me. Oh and DH's parents went ahead and bought us our glider! We placed the order online from babyuniverse.com. DH tried the model we liked in the store and said he can't wait to start using the chair after I'm done nursing!
Our glider should be here by the end of March. Can't wait. I'm hoping I have energy this week since I can come home straight after work and do some cleaning in the nursery.
Oh Sal, i didn't eat any different when I took my test I just ate the same food I normally had been eating.

Hi ladies. I had my weekly appointment (ultrasound) today and started my NSTs (non stress tests). Both went well and baby passed both with flying colors. It's amazing to see how much he is growing. As the dr. commented today, he is really starting to look like a baby! My fluid levels are still "normal" and everything else looks great. Placenta is finally exactly where it should be.
I did find out today that my dr. is NOT inclined to induce me around 37 weeks as I had hoped. She wants me to make it to 39 weeks if the baby will go that far, but she said she would consider taking me off bedrest at 36 weeks (though my activity will be EXTREMELY limited) as long as the baby is not breech. So I guess I have 10 weeks of bedrest down, and possibly 10-13 to go. I can't believe I might have been on bedrest for 23 weeks by the time the baby comes. Wowzers.
Everything else is going well. I picked out the paint color for the nursery last week and hopefully my family will paint it for me soon. My DH is still away for military training, but looks like if all goes well he will finish on Feb. 27 and then have a two-day drive home. Fingers crossed!
~~~~~~~~~
Gina - Congrats on the glider! I'm still trying to decide about that one.
Txfish - That's wonderful about all of the clothes!
Sal - I just avoided my OJ the morning of my test. I scored a 113...not sure if skipping the OJ helped or not. I just had an English muffin and milk (I just did the one hour...but I had ice cream and sweets the night and day before).
Gotta run!
Nothing much going on here. My belly button is quickly disappearing. I have a doctor's appt tomorrow morning and after that I start going more frequently. Wow, seems so odd to be in the final stretch already.
I KNOW!!! Oh gosh, I have another appointment not this Friday, but next Friday, so I'm already going every two weeks, its SO weird.
Question - Is anyone else still sleeping on their stomach? I do... is that weird? I don't FALL asleep like that, well kind of, its more that I got to sleep on my side, but wake up on my belly... I asked the Doc about it last Friday when I was in, and he said "Your body will tell you when it can't/shouldn't do it anymore, as long as its comfortable, sleep how you want to. Soon your belly will be too big for that to be comfortable at all, but for now its fine."
Txfish
01-24-2006, 08:46 AM
charissa, I still sleep on my stomach too. I usually just rest one leg up on a pillow so I'm at a bit of an angle -- I go to sleep that way. I just cannot get comfortable on my side this time.
Sully, more great news! That is a long time on bedrest -- but all worth it. How are you decorating the nursery?
Jane, (hugs) sorry pup is sick again -- hope you get to catch up on rest soon.
Gina -- awesome on the glider! They are so comfortable :)
I'm still having the stroller issue from hell. LOL So now BRU is carrying one of Combi's infant carriers, along with a stroller it attaches to -- only two colors; mango & merlot. I actually really like the mango, but I'm still not totally sold on the stroller... I'd rather get the infant carrier & a snap-n-go. Well, BRU now sells Combi's snap-n-go also -- great, right? Wrong -- the infant carrier they carry there (only 1 model of the 3 that Combi makes) is the only one that will NOT attach to Combi's own "universal stroller". WTH?? I'm about to tear my hair out, and DH threatened me with moving to Bermuda if I mentioned "stroller" and "carseat" one more time LOL..... I'm going to USA Baby today to see if I can still get the carrier that I liked, and just go with the snap-n-go. No wonder I just carried DD around, instead of fooling with strollers last time! :D
Jane&Andy
01-24-2006, 09:31 AM
TXfish - thats really bizzare about BRU and Combi. Online they give a discount for buying the Combi Connection infant seat with the car seat carrier but then the description says it works with the Tyro and doesn't mention the Connection at all. :confused: The Cosmo EX sounds like a great stroller (comes in Carribean and Mango online) but it doesn't mention which infant seat it works with. :confused: ah, just found a new infant seat - the Centre EX - that works with that stroller.
The new Combi's are tempting but I think I'll stick with the Zooper since it works with the free Snugride I'm getting from my sister.
stomach sleeping - nope. thats been too uncomfortable for a long time. I just flop over from one side to the other.
Txfish
01-24-2006, 10:52 AM
Jane, yeah that's the one I looked at -- Combi's snap-n-go will hold the Tyro and the Connection, but not the Centre (the only one BRU carries.) [I had to go to Combi's website to confirm that it will hold the COnnection, too.] Apparently the Centre will *only* go on the Cosmo stroller... so why they even bother selling the snap-n-go, I don't know. Oh, and with classic Combi forethought, they sell the caribbean & mango colors in the stroller, only the mango in the carseat, and then you can get the "travel system" (ie, the exact same two pieces, for the exact same combined price) only in merlot. Oh, and also the Centre carrier is 3 lbs heavier than the Connection and has less padding. I continue to be annoyed. :P I'd stick with the Zooper, too, if I was you!
Jane&Andy
01-24-2006, 11:05 AM
TXfish - They have the Connection availble online - in Carolina Sky but not Claret. The Cosmo sounds good but I'd rather have it in Caribbean than Mango. It doesn't make sense that they'd sell it in Mango but not Caribbean. Of course, this seems to be a common theme with BRU - they only sell the Britax Roundabout with 2 different seat covers. I, of course, prefer it with the Puma print cover. :rolleyes:
Not much going on here. I had my 28w apt today and my GTT test. To my surprise the whole testing experience wasn't bad. I should know by tomorrow if I failed the 1 hour, though I am not too worried about it. My bp was good and my weight is up 19lbs, which seems like I lot to me, but I know is right in the normal range! My next apt is Feb 21
Does anyone else feel their apt's are boring? Mine lasted all of 7 min. Asked if I was going to BF, listened to baby's hb (150's), and told me to watch for pre term labor.
GTT test and eating thanks everyone for posting what I already suspected. I am just eating normally this week and trying to cut down on the sugar a little which I should be doing anyway. I just REALLY am dreading the 3 hour and hope I pass!
Sully YAY for another good report!
So I can't even believe I am going to post this because I am just so grossed out and this is SO TMI and I did not even realize I had this until I saw someone post about it in the pregnancy threads. I have been feeling all this pain and pressure just thinking everything was expanding more and earlier the second time. But now I realize I have vaginal varicose veins. I seriously SERIOUSLY do not believe this. I don't have them on my legs at all so I was shocked. I totally jinked myself by saying how uneventful this pregnancy has been compared to dylan. right after that I failed my 1 hour and then THIS. :eek: I have my next appt on monday so I will see if there is anything I can do. I know, I am just so mature complaining about this when people like Sully barely can get out of bed!
Mel - No you're definitely not the only one, I feel like my appointments are so boring, and even my Doc was like, well you just have NO problems... my DHs Best Friend is a Resident right now and he's like, well of course your pregnancy is boring, you're in good health, your blood pressure is low, you take care of yourself... you're the dream pregnant lady, hahaha. He works in a very not so affluent neighborhood, so he gets a lot of crazies and people who aren't really taking care of them or their babies... sad, but true.
Sal03 - eek, I read about that wow... I hope the doc will have some remedies for you.
As for me - I was stressing last night... x-post from Emotional Support:
So I have cousins in Chicago and I'm in SoCal...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my family to death, I really do, being filipino, its shoved down your throat from day 1, that you do anything for them, which I would...
So my cousin calls (well really his wife) on Sunday night, to say they're coming out for a short 3 day visit, Yeah! I'm genuinely excited, then I realize, they probably want to stay here at my house, which on a normal day wouldn't be a big deal, but here are some reasons I had a mini-panic attack:
We're painting the nursery and our bonus room
We're also cleaning the two garages so boxes are EVERYWHERE
I'm 7 months pregnant, and moving things just hurts... it really does
our house is in a wreck b/c we had to empty everything out of every room we were painting
my DH is in Vegas for work, so I am home alone now
the extra bed isn't set up b/c we had to break it down to get it out of the room to paint
I STILL offered them to stay here - which they are right now, but I and DH talked about and I could tell he was a little annoyed about the short notice and I honestly was too, but I still offered b/c they're family. I just wish I had had more than a day's notice to "prep" the house b/c honestly NOTHING was where it should be... including DH
I just happened to mention this to my Mom, and she got all pissy and acted like I was being a little brat about it, and that I should just suck it up, which I DID DO, shown by the fact that they're still here. What she didn't get was that I was just venting b/c I was tired and I didn't know what they're plans were, etc...
So am I being TOTALLY unreasonable for just wanting to talk to someone about it????? She keeps claiming that she would NEVER feel that way if family came to stay with her, and I'm like GEEZ, normally I'm not, its just the circumstances under which this visit is happening is what is bugging....
Plus I personally woudln't just give 24 hours notice to someone if I was crashing, but that's ME... so for her to say she'd never get upset b/c of the lack of notice, just shows we're DIFFERENT, and she doesn't get it... I kept saying, well maybe YOU would do that, but I wouldn't... like how they would come without a few days notice, but I WOULDN'T.... ugh...
What is wrong here?? I didn't tell them to get a hotel, I OFFERED, they didn't even ask, b/c of course I don't want them to stay anywhere else... My mom is just driving me crazy... HELP!!!!
Am I being totally irrational???????????
Charissa I actually read your other post and did not have time to reply. That is SO typical of the way my mom is sometimes. I call her to vent and she turns it into this whole conversation how I am selfish or even sometimes makes it about her. don't get me started...
charissa-you are not being irrational at all! I don't think that is fair to you that you were only given 24 hours notice. Who travels like that anyways unless it is a family emergency! Also my mom would be the same way especially with the whole guilt thing and family thing! Absolutely ridiculous. I hope that your cousins are not too much trouble for you and at least appreciate the trouble you went through to provide them with a nice place to stay!
Had our first childbirth class on Monday night. It was interesting. There are 11 couples total in the class with due dates starting in the beginning of March to mine in the end of April. It is funny to watch the reactions on different peoples faces when talking about various aspects of childbirth. I know I probably made some funny faces as well although alot of this does not come to much of a surprise to me. I think we will get a lot out of this class or at least that is what I hope for. The only problem is that the chairs that we have to sit in are so uncomfortable-my back was killing me!
Charissa, that's awful. I read your other post, too, but realized my only response was to complain about my own inconsiderate relatives LOL Sorry your mom couldn't just let you vent.
Mel, yep, appts are boring, pretty much. But I do try to remember that it's good, because it does mean we're healthy! And before long, it'll get more exciting, because we'll go every week and there will be the whole "status check" (ooh, an internal! FUN!) :) Honestly, I just make a little celebration for myself every time I go, whether there was anything exciting that happened or not -- take myself for ice cream, or something, just to concentrate on why I was there, kwim? I don't want OB appts to be so routine that they're meaningless. That's part of why I always try to get the last appt of the day, so I can leave work and when I get done at the dr, just play or go get DD early, etc.
Off to work; hoping dd doesn't come down with a fever today -- she was a little hot last night. Since my boss called in sick, too, it makes it difficult to leave. I hate working right now.
Sevilla
Charissa: That would be so frustrating! Especially b/c you just needed to vent and your mom took it as a criticism of family instead. I hope your relatives don't end up staying too long and you're able to get some down time soon.
jeeplover: Glad the birthing class went well, but ugh on the uncomfortable chairs!
Appointments: Yep, pretty boring over here too. I'm down to every two weeks now. The most 'interesting' thing I can think of that will happen at them now will be going over my birth plan and things like that.
Birthing Classes: We just had our fourth Bradley birthing class a few nights ago and so far we're really enjoying them. There are two other couples due within two weeks of me plus our instructor. I think watching the birth videos has been the most educational part for me so far, and also for DH.
I had my appt this morning. Only gained 2 more lbs and my BP was normal (which is fairly miraculous considering the ongoing drama with my sick dog). Joey is head down with his back on my left side and feet at my ribs. I know he still has plenty of room to move but they'd never discussed his position before and I was curious. He's measuring right on target and his heart beat was 148bpm. This was my first time seeing this doctor and he let me listen to the heartbeat for longer than any of the others have - I like him. :) I got a list of recommended pediatricians and will work on that once I feel up to it (once the dog is recovered).
I'm home with the dog today. He's been having intestinal issues so they sent him home this morning (DH ran him in to the vet this morning) with laxatives (he may have something stuck in there that he needs help getting out). So I figured I should stay home and keep an eye on him and walk him a lot. If this doesn't work we move on to more detailed x rays and then surgery. He's already cost us a small fortune, I am so ready for him to get better. Oh well, I guess this is what our tax refund is for. :(
We had our 3D/4D u/s yesterday and it was so amazing. I'll post pictures tonight or tomorrow hopefully. He wanted to keep his hand and arm in his face so it took awhile. Oh and he is definitely a BOY! :)
We also interviewed two peds and have one more interview scheduled for next week. Right now I'm not sure who we will go with.
Oh... this past weekend we ended up ordering our glider. We changed our minds and went with this Dutailier upholstered glider in a green micro fiber. We were at USA Baby and decided to look one last time and ended up liking this one more than the Shermag glider.
So much to catch up on, I had a horrible cold but am better now.
Jeeplover – So happy to hear your appt. went well with the high risk OB. Thanks for the tip on the Christmas Tree Shop, there’s one just down the road from my office, never thought to check there. Your bedding is adorable.
Txfish – love your bee bedding, I think it’ll look great with cherry. Hope dd doesn’t get sick.
Sully – glad to hear your appts. continue to go so well
Jane - oooh, a new Honda CRV, lucky you! Thanks for the new thread. Your nursery is so cute. And a big congrats on finally getting your furniture ordered, you must be so relieved.
Sevilla – you look great.
Sorry to hear about the sick fur babies.
We have our 2nd birthing class tonight, I enjoyed it last week. We have about 11 couples and all are due in March. Our chairs are terribly uncomfortable also.
I had an appt. yesterday, the babies are now 2 lbs. and 1 lb. 14.5 oz at my 26 wk u/s last week, which the midwife said is just fine and they’re doing well. They’re both in the breech position and appeared to be snuggling each other. My belly is measuring 39 cm. I, unfortunately, am not so fine. I guess there was something they found in my urine sample plus my b/p was a bit high. So I was sent to the lab immediately after my appt. for a urinalysis and some bloodwork. And starting this morning, I will be collecting my urine for the next 24 hours, ugh. I did notice after my shower yesterday when I was putting on lotion that my feet and ankles seemed just a bit puffy. I’m hoping this is all due to the cold I’ve had for the past 10 days. It’s over with now but I definitely was not eating all that much, nor getting enough fluids while I was sick. But somehow I did manage to gain 4 lbs. in 2 weeks.
uskiku-We are looking at one of the Bonavita cribs as well just can't remember the name of it.
Jane-Glad to hear your puppy is doing better-poor little guy! Cats to me seem more resilient than dogs but maybe that is because they are smaller and have less to deal with-not really sure.
relly-definitely check out Christmas Tree Shop, I was definitely surprised when they had a changing table/dresser combo there. They also had a crib but it was really not a nice one. Glad to hear that the twins are doing well and that your childbirth classes are going well. What is up with the uncomfortable chairs?
uskiku that is so funny! that is the crib we got! Except in white. We got an unbelievable deal at Buy Buy Baby. It was on sale for $199 and we had a 20% coupon. We saw it in the pecan too - so pretty!
Relly so sweet that the babies were snuggling. Hope everything works itself out and was just due to your cold
Kopper can't wait to see the u/s pics. those 3D ones are so cool!!
My 32 week u/s is scheduled for Feb 10. I am so excited to see my little one on the screen again!
Txfish - That's a great idea about the appts. I should start treating myself to ice cream too! :)
Jane - Sorry about your dog. Hope he's feeling better soon! I wish I had your problem of not napping.
Kopper - That's a great chair!
relly - Yeah for the babies growing. Collecting urine doesn't sound like much fun.
Sal - I'm jealous you get another u/s. We're going to do the 3D/4D one but we have to pay for it. The BRU near us has the 06 Peg out so we might try it out soon. I still have no idea what stroller we're going to get. Hopefully USA Baby will have the other brands in soon so we can try them all out and make a decision.
mom and relatives issue - Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the confirmation that I wasn't totally irrational. :) Everything is all good now, I think my mom was just going through some ups and downs and I wasn't helping any, she's still going through menopause.
announcements - Who is planning to do them? And how much do you plan on spending? DH and I haven't really discussed, but I want to do some simple ones, just so we don't have to call everyone and their mom, haha.
Jennifer I am definitely having more of a dilemna this time with the double stroller!! LOL We know we are getting the Graco tandem, my grandma is getting it for us. We'll use that as long as the baby is in the snugride so that buys us some time with the double. I want to wait until the 2006 Zooper tangos are out. I keep calling but they are not in stores yet.
Announcements we did ours for DS on Shutterfly. We used a really sweet picture of him sleeping on the boppy and they came out great. They were the 4 x 8 photo cards and I think were around 60 cents each. The price depends on how many you order and they are always having sales. We are going to do the same thing this time. okay shameless excuse to post photo - here is the pic we used :D
Jane Hope your dog is doing better!!
The bedding came yesterday from Pottery Barn. YAY!! It is the pink casey striped. I love it. just what we were looking for. pretty and bright but not too frilly and girly. I'll try and post a pic. We just got the bumper and quilt. will be using a different bedskirt. this is the first item we bought that has arrived so that was very exciting http://ww2.potterybarnkids.com/cat/pip.cfm?src=shpab%7Ccbdgnbd%7Cda%7Crshop%5Fb%2Fshp ab%7Ccbdg%7Cda%7Crshop%5Fb&pkey=cbdgnbd%7Cab&gids=k4058
relly - Glad to hear the babies are doing well.
announcements -Yes Yes we will be doing those! Any excuse for me to spend money and shop online! Guess I NEED to start looking ASAP, today at work for example!
3rd Trimester m/s - Well as this i the 4th morning in a row I have felt nauseous, I think my m/s is returning :( I forgot how much I had taken for granted feeling good. I have been TIRED, nauseous, and out of it this whole week. How can I be expected to work under these conditions?!
Sal Just wanted to let you know I have my 2006 Tango in posession finally. Let me know if you have any specific questions.. From everything I've heard most stores are not stocking them. Mine finally came from a distributor in CA (and we're in NJ!). It is lighter than the 2005 but not much.
Sal03 - omg, that is the cutest pic :)
brianmcd - oooh, i'll have to check out usps.com, I'm definitely into saving money :)
mel7dog - aww, sorry about your returning MS, I had a massive headache last night and hadn't had one since the early in the 2nd trimester, ugh. i decided to just sleep it off. and who doesn't love shopping online, hehe. helps pass the work time away, doesnt it? :)
New Car Bliss - We purchased our new Lexus RX Friday night, so I'm still in new car bliss and LOVE driving that thing. It was so comfy I almost fell asleep on the way home from my corporate office yesterday, but that could also be attributed to the full belly I had from lunch, hee2.
Tummy Stretching - is anyone else feeling like the pulling in the widest part of their belly? right in line with my bellybutton its just feeling SO stretched, and i have little teeny stretch marks (i was expecting them since i got some when i went through puberty and my mom has them from having me and my sister) And the baby likes to hang out on the right side of my uterus, haha, won't hang out in the middle where all the room is, haha :)
Too funny about the crib -- great minds think alike, huh?! I am so glad and relieved to hear that you saw it in person and liked it. We don't have Buy Buy Baby anywhere near us; you definitely got a great deal!
Mel Oh no, sorry about the 3rd trimester m/s!! :(
Charissa Congrats on the new car! :)
tummy stretching yep, this is exactly what I've been feeling as well! I think it has something to do with the baby's position; I can often see or feel him move right before it gets really uncomfortable (little stinker! ;) ) and he also seems to prefer the right side.
announcements Think we'll be doing them as well. Thanks Bri for the usps.com info; will definitely check them out!
My pup finally seems to be getting better. We almost took him to the emergency clinic last night but waited it out just a bit longer and he finally improved. Thank goodness b/c I am exhausted!
announcements - yes, I plan to do them. I don't need many so i was thinking of splurging on them from Amber (inababycarriage.com).
Mel - sorry to hear about the return of the nausea. :(
Charissa - yay for the new car! Hopefully I'll be getting mine soon. :)
tummy stretching - my belly button was a bit sore to the touch last week. Aside from that I'm not feeling much stretching.
Sal – that pic is adorable, he looks so peaceful, cute how his hands are. Also love the PBK quilt and bumper.
Mel – sorry to hear your not feeling well.
Charissa – a new Lexus RX, sounds divine.
Jane – glad to hear your pup’s doing well.
Announcements – no, almost all family and friends live nearby and will come over to meet the babies. The rest will get an email with a pic. I do love announcements though and can’t wait to see what y’all end up putting together.
Tummy Stretching – I don’t how in the world this can be, but nope, maybe it happened so long ago I’m used to it.
I received some more maternity clothes from the Gap today. 2 sweaters and 2 pants, great deal since they’re winter items and they were all on sale. I think I’m all set with maternity clothes.
Had our 2nd class last night, we watched the movie, which I was a bit afraid of but it was very brief, and I’ve seen more detailed stuff on the Discovery Channel. It did show the placenta popping out, that I’ve never seen before. It’s a pleasant class and we finished with some more breathing exercises.
Just called for my urine results, and even though it said “stat results”, the lab had not done that. Gosh, I dropped it off on my way into work this morning. So I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
Called the furniture store, my dresser has not come in yet. :( I guess two weeks was a general time frame b/c it's been 15 days. lol. and yes I'm counting.
3 hr test - I haven't heard anything about it and I called my doctor yesterday and they said they would probably get the results soon and my doctor would call whether I passed or failed.
and something interesting: My DH is going to nursing school. This semester is his OB/pediatrics clinicals. He got to be in the OR for a c-section today. So he's getting a little more than a video for his examples. :) He also got to watch a woman try to breastfeed for the first time and some of the techniques that helped. For me it's a little odd for him to get to watch all that, but I know it's only for school. He's not going to work the OB floor when he graduates. lol. I think it's just neat that he's learning about all the stuff up close and personal, it's better than dragging him to a childbirth class.
jrsygirl - Does the Zooper take car seats at all? I've only seen it online so I have no idea. I'm going to have to do some serious stroller research.
announcements - Will probably go with inababycarriage.com. Amber did our Christmas cards and I loved them. They're more $, but definitely worth it.
Jennifer I think just the 2004 accepted the car seat. We are going with the graco tandem for now and will try to get a hold of a zooper in a few months. one store by me said that is when they will get them
jrsygirl that is like hitting lotto. can't believe you got a 2006! Do you like it? I had heard it was supposed to be 5-6 pounds lighter. It does not seem like it?
mel sorry you are feeling lousy. I really hope it is just a quick passing thing
My pup is finally better! :) And he slept through the night last night. :) I know I will soon be getting up with a baby all night long but at least I hopefully won't go into panic mode when he wakes up like I do with the dog b/c then I can't fall asleep. Darned dog cost us approximately 3 1/2 strollers this week but I guess he's worth it. :p
Not much else going on. Some charity group is coming by today to pick up a bunch of DH's old clothes for donation. Hopefully this weekend he will finish clearing out his closet (he currently uses the nursery closet) and I can start using it for Joey's stuff. :)
Only a few more weeks til my baby shower. I'm so excited b/c my Mom and two sisters are all coming. :) And my sisters are bringing me more handmedowns for Joey. DH's work wants to throw us a shower and they've tentatively scheduled it for 3/24. DH is going to see if he can't get them to move it up a little. Even if I don't have this baby early I'm not sure that I'll feel up to socializing with strangers at that point.
I have no clue what I'll end up wearing for my baby shower. Most of my in-laws don't dress up at all for that sort of thing (jeans and sneakers) but my family is used to dressing up. I'm guessing I'll stick to nice pants and a cute top, maybe spruce it up with fun earrings.
Sal03 - good luck, I hope you pass!
Jane - awesome that your pup is better! and great that your closet is almost cleaned out too. I'm going through the same thing, I had all my clothes in the nursery closet and i've packed them away, but there are still a lot of boxes and stuff to clean out. then i can cram it full of baby stuff. :p
I've decided to hang nursery letters spelling out baby's name. I got some white one from Wal-mart and i've painted them. Now i'm drawing little flowers and butterflies on them to match the bedding. It's coming along pretty good, and I'm having lots of fun doing it. I'll post pics when i've completed my project.
jennifer They are available but most stores don't stock them because they take up so much room. They're usually special order. The other thing is they are trying to get rid of the 2005's before they ship the 06's so they are very hard to come by. oUrs was ordered in November cancelled 4x and I finally got it a week or so ago.
I don't know if it holds a car seat or not, because we're having twins I would need it to hold 2 carseats which it def doesn't do so I got a snap.n.go also.
Sal it is lighter than the 05 but to be honest not that much. its still heavy. But to be honest every other SBS we looked at wobbled and just seemed poorly made in comparison. My husband just jokes that the zooper will be my sure fire get back in shape plan ;)
Sal03
01-27-2006, 08:15 AM
jrsygirl do you think the only difference between the 05 and 06 is the weight? if so I may just go look at the 2005 and then I'll at least know if I want to just order it online or not. I have heard terrible things about the peg twin and good things about the maclaran techno twin but what I really do not like about the mac is the two handles. I like that you can push the zooper with one hand. with the mac you can't. plus I think the seats on the zooper are slightly wider. everyone on these boards raves about the zooper. decisions decisions!!
I have been MIA from these boards... I am down in OC for work this week so I don't have as much free time to post as I do when I work from home. Let's see what has been going on...
1. I am 27 weeks today! :)
2. I have gained 16 lbs! :(
3. My registry is complete (I think)!
4. I am starting to get really uncomfortable sitting for periods of times. My ribs are killing me by the end of the day.
5. I get full really easily.
6. My work wants to plan a 5th baby shower! I feel so blessed and honored.
7. I am still waiting for my GTT test results from Monday. I called the doctor's office but the lady at the front desk said they don't give results over the phone. :confused:
Hello ladies... its been awhile since I posted (bad me) but I have been keeping up on things:). We just moved last weekend and had our house closing this week. Lots going on and I have been very busy. I cant believe we all made it to the final trimester!!! Isnt that wonderful?? Just the fact that I work in a NICU and I know how much better 28+ weekers do vs 24 weekers:) Granted NO ONE needs to have a baby yet..... haha.
I had another u/s this week because I am measuring 5 weeks ahead. Come to find out, I am carrying a haas... yup he is a big one. He already weighs 4 lbs. I am measuring 32 weeks on u/s and on fundal measurements sooo that means a c/s. Now, most ppl dont want one and would rather labor. Me on the other hand would like a c/s because I have been to WAY too many deliveries where things went bad with big babies.. I know we dont have all the control but a little is good right?? ;) So c/s it is and a week earlier then my due date... is he keeps growing like a line backer then it will be 2 weeks early. Good news is my GTT is normal... 95 was my # I think.
We also just drew wills up and had to pick a guardian for the baby... WOW, do you know how hard that is??? We feel like we are being bad children, brother/sister, cousins, friends.. everything....we just have to hope it never comes to that.
Hope all you ladies have a wonderful weekend and a happy, healthy and comfortable 3rd trimester!!!
Lunaria I know - we just did our will. Way too late considering we waited until Dylan was 18 months old. that stuff is really hard to think about but I am glad we have everything settled.
jrsygirl I am glad jennifer asked that. I was curious too! Is it huge when folded down? I think I am pretty sold on that now. I want the one handlebar and it weighs the same as the maclaran techno so that is not an issue.
Mel yay for passing the GTT. no way you would be able to deal with the 3 hour feeling so nauseous!
MMH - Congrats on passing your test!
Sal - I hope your test went well.
We went stroller looking today and I think we found our double. Combi has a brand new tandem this year. It takes a car seat, doesn't weigh a ton and drives pretty easy. Of course we'll have to get it online because neither BRU or USA Baby has the orange one in stock, but buying it online is cheaper anyway. This also means we're getting the matching car seat.
Well I was hoping to have a very productive day today but of course that all changed when I woke up this morning with the headache I had when I went to bed and I think the round ligament pain is back but not 100% sure if that is the cause of this awful pain in my groin area. I was hoping to have our "nursery" cleaned out or at least organized so that DH could move boxes when he comes back home but that didn't happen.
I am trying to remember what my doctor said about headaches and if they don't go away after how long? Does anyone know? I have had mine for about 24 hours now and have tried everything and nothing is helping!
jeeplover - I remember my Dr saying the same thing, a severe headache (worse than a migrane) could be big trouble. I think it has something to do with bp maybe? Has your pb been high? mel7dog... You always have the cutest belly, and you are ALL baby. You should see my a*s, hips and now I have noticed my face getting chubby! So depressing!
31w today!
here's my belly shot
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6df08b3127cce96bbd64679e000000015138AZN27Ny3btK
My stretchmarks are pretty hideous, thats why I stopped doing bare belly shots. Its just not something y'all want to see.
So aside from feeling like a hippo I'm feeling good. My RLS acts up periodically and drives me nuts.
I picked up a table lamp for the nursery (there's no overhead light - I still have a floor lamp on my registry) and made some progress cleaning out the closet (since DH has been dragging his feet about it). I have fun playing in the room. I'm getting more and more anxious to have this baby. Ok, I'd like to get the furniture in there first, but aside from that I'm feeling ready.
My SIL mailed out the shower invitations. :)
MMH - you look great!
briamcd - can't wait to see pictures of your crib all set up. I have the bedding but no crib or mattress yet. :p
Jennifer - yay for picking out your double stroller. :)
Lunaria - its good to hear from you. :) Glad you are doing well. Boy, that is a fast growing baby you have there!
I feel like a baby whale compared to some of you singletons! Thank goodness I only seem to be gaining in the belly..and I have no stretch marks although those red spots on my hips are attractive :rolleyes:
MMH - I hear you on being a little depressed. Don't worry you're not the only one gaining some in higs, butt, face etc. I workout, eat healthy, and yet I gain. I just keep reminding myself that BF burns 500 calories a day!
Jane - Looking good! Yea for the shower invites going out!
jrsygirl - You are looking GREAT!!
Does anyone else wonder how they are can possibly get any bigger in the next 2-3 months, I am scared :eek: I already feel huge!
Mel - I was just thinking that the other day. I feel so huge, and I got 3 more months to go. She's gonna just stretch me silly. I don't feel like can get any bigger and function. lol. It's really awkward moving around now as it is.
I'm posting while sitting on a birthing ball. Very comfortable and good for helping the baby get in a good position. And the little one is being somewhat active at the moment which is fun. (s)he turned head down in the past two weeks which makes me happy (was transverse before).
I'm interested to see how big i get by the end, but my stomach still feels very comfortable** and i don't have stretch marks yet (though i'm sure i'll get them in the last month). I'm not having aches and pains either and am still sleeping great. I hope i feel this good for the ~2 months i have left.
**Except when the baby decides to kick up in my ribs/diaphragm :rolleyes:. A few times each day i have to push its feet/legs down.
We got our dresser tonight, its an heirloom that was both DH's and FIL's when they were babies and is just gorgeous (it's a light honey color, for some reason the pics make it look darker):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love seeing everyone's belly shots! You all are looking great :). Seriously!
QOTD: Can anyone else feel the baby's individual body parts yet? Just in the past two-three weeks i've been able to figure out what's its head, what's its torso, legs, knees, and feet. It's so fun.
QOTD2: Has anyone else completed the hospital pre-registration form? I just started working on ours today.
mel7dog
01-29-2006, 08:13 PM
QOTD - For the past 3-4 weeks, I can feel body parts poking out, but I can't tell for sure what they are yet. I can tell some parts are bigger than others, but so far I guess either head/butt, elbow/hand/foot :D
QOTD 2 - not yet, but I will be doing so at least a month before
Sal03
01-30-2006, 06:46 AM
QOTD I feel constant movement and see things poking out all the time, but have no idea what they are. In the past few days the movements have gotten really rough so I am thinking maybe she is elbowing me or something like that!
QOTD 2 I sent it in a week ago. Just wanted to do it while I was thinking about it
Mel Your belly shots are adorable. Don't you remember when most of us ROs posted pics of our 39 or 40 week belly shots? It's crazy to think I am going to get that big again. It's hard to believe our bodies can tolerate this!
Jrsy, Jane and MMH You guys look great!
Jrsygirl Thank you so much for posting those pictures. Those were so helpful!
Sevilla I can't believe that dresser is used. It looks beautiful! And how nice that it has been passed around the family
Well the baby's room is almost done. It is a really pretty shade of pink. We painted the trim and doors also because that room was a mess and we can only really get work done when dylan is napping or sleeping so it is a slow process. I'll post pics when it is finally done.
Had my 3 hour glucose test on Saturday. It was more annoying than anything. The drink is different than the 1 hour. twice the concentration and more syrupy and lemon flavored so that was not so delicious. then they took blood when I got there and then every hour so I look like a drug addict with track marks up my arm :p DH came to pick me up with a sandwich though and as promised I had my Friendly's sundae that night. Now just hoping my OB calls today and tells me I passed! Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

QOTD - nope, I can't really tell whats what. At my last doctors appt they told me how he was positioned and I could tell later that day that I was being kicked and punched all at the same time but beyond that I can't tell.
QOTD2 - yep, turned those in a long time ago. My doctor gave them to me at my first appt and I brought it back at the next one.
jrsygirl and me - y'all look great.
I go back and forth between feeling huge and feeling not so big, I guess it depends on my mood. I just saw a SIL and BIL for the first time since Thanksgiving on Saturday and their eyes just about popped out when they saw me - so I guess I must be looking significantly bigger now. :p
I'm still feeling comfortable and sleeping well most nights. I'm still not using an extra pillows when I sleep. My back gets sore easily but that was a problem for me before I was pregnant. My biggest discomfort is the RLS which isn't bad everyday.

Sal03 - Congrats on passing your 3 hour :) See, nothing to worry about.
Good lord I feel huge... I haven't been sleeping very well and to top it off DH says I've been snoring like crazy, is anyone else all congested towards the end of the day??? It is driving me nuts. Everyone suggests to breathe out of my mouth, I just can't do it... I feel all self conscious when I do that, haha.
Jane- I'm getting UBERexcticed for this baby to come too.
We finally finished the painting and bordering the baby's room, now we just have to get all the furniture up in there, and since I can't lift anything, haha, we have to wait for my sister and her boyfriend to come over to help lug it all upstairs. So that'll be exciting when its really "finished". Won't be truly finished until we have our little boy in there safe and sound :).

I'm so freakin' excited to be 28 weeks!!! :D Somehow this seems like such a milestone... I feel like I'm back in the 1st trimester when I was anxiously counting the weeks and when each passing week was of huge developmental importance -- now it's the same, though I'm in the 3rd trimester... Goodness, how far we've come, uh?!
BEAUTIFUL belly shots Mel, Jane, jrsygirland MMH -- you're all looking fantabulous!
Bri YAY -- congrats on passing the 3-hour test!!!
Lunaria 5 weeks ahead?!!:eek: Oh my goodness, you're baking a true football star there! :)
Sevilla Wow, that's a beautiful dresser!
QOTD I too feel the movement and can see various body parts poking out. Cannot really tell the difference, except for "this must be either his butt or head" ;)
QOTD2 Uh oh, haven't done anything about it yet. Guess I must be in denial about actually having to give birth to this baby... :rolleyes:
Feeling huge yep, count me in! I just cannot comprehend HOW on earth are we supposed to get any bigger??!!
mel7dog

Just got back from my OB visit! It went well. I am measuring at 29 weeks-eek!
I have to start taking Fe+ supplement daily though because my iron is a little low-not looking forward to that! Let's pray for no side effects from that!
I got a little nervous though because her aide said something about me being induced and having set a date but in the end he had mistaken me for someone else! Holy crap did that scare me!
Next thing is to talk to my cardiologist to see whether he thinks I will be able to handle the pushing during labor and that will determine what kind of delivery it will be! Scary to think that it is coming up!
Also bumped into a couple that we know at the doctors office. She is scheduled to be induced on February 7th! They are both nervous and excited!
QOTD 1: It all depends what time of day it is and in what position I am laying. Last night we could feel his little behind and this morning the doctor could feel it as well. Although I am not able to tell the difference between being kicked or being elbowed.
QOTD 2: I have the form and will probably fill it out today and send it in. I was going to do it online but in our childbirth class a couple of the women said that when they filled it out online they didn't get any type of confirmation.
Have our second childbirth class tonight-should be interesting!

So I guess I'm finally joining most of you in the third trimester now! So exciting!
Mel, Jane, jrsygirl and MMH, you girls are all looking fantastic! I love the baby bellies.
My brother put the right software on this computer over the weekend so now can download pics from my camera. I'll have to try to share a belly shot soon!
Sevilla - I love that dresser! I can't believe it's been passed around so much...looks like it's in fantastic shape.
jeeplover - Glad to hear the appointment went well overall. Hopefully the iron supplement won't have any undesirable side effects for you.
Bri - congrats on passing the 3-hour! I know that has to make you feel so much better!
QOTD - Not really. This little one has been breech most of the time so occasionally I can tell where his head his, but not usually. He's been squirming around a lot lately and this morning he woke me up around 5:45 with what felt like him treating my cervix like a trampoline. I got a little nervous...and I was trying to coax him around. Didn't work. :)
QOTD 2 - I realized last week that I was supposed to register at 5 months and the short answer is that no we haven't done it. But for a while I wasn't sure where I was delivering (high risk place or not) and then we have an insurance issue. My DH is currently on active duty military orders until mid-March. We think he will be picked up for additional months beyond that, but we won't know for sure until March. :eek: So I figure if I send in my registration with the ID saying it expires March 16, they might kick it out. I probably should just call!
Feeling huge: Not really. Actually I feel like my growth has stopped lately. I told my dr. last week that I feel like I've been the same for four weeks, but she said she definitely is seeing changes in me and that everything seems appropriately sized. Guess I should enjoy it while it lasts! I have gained 27 pounds (as of last week)!
Update: I have my weekly u/s and NST this afternoon. I also finish up my steroid shots today. It makes me feel a lot better knowing I've had those and that if the baby came early, he would be helped out a little by it.
Last week I ended up buying our baby bedding b/c Pottery Barn Kids took it off their website and it's been out of the catalog for a while. I didn't want to risk that they might sell out of it. I stole a picture of it from ebay to share...it's Alphabet Soup (it's been around for a while):
http://images.snapfish.com/345%3B87649%7Ffp338%3Enu%3D3235%3E%3B47%3E%3B%3A%3 B%3EWSNRCG%3D32334%3A566%3A9%3A3nu0mrj
I only bought the bumper, crib skirt and a small pillow. I plan on using a solid color crib sheet (or maybe green gingham or something). Oh, and I bought the valance at a great price from Ebay. It should arrive tomorrow!

Random question - We are planning on having the baby co-sleep w/us for the first few months (with a sleeper in our bed). I just got to thinking where he would be taking his many naps. Obviously I wouldn't want him in our big bed all alone, but would I put him in the crib this early, or is this a reason I should move the pack n play from our "nice to have" to "NEED" list? Where do most babies take their naps? TIA
Sal03
01-30-2006, 11:16 AM
Sully I love that bedding. I have always looked at it in the catalog. the room will be so cute!
Mel We co-slept for about the first 8 weeks. never thought we would but with BFing it is just SO much easier. DS would take his naps usually in the bassinet part of the pnp or in the swing. Or honestly sometimes right in my arms. Or if he had fallen asleep in the car seat we would just bring him inside and leave him in there until he woke up.
Bri YAY for passing the 3 hour!

MMH, Jane, Jrsygrl and Mel – fabulous belly pics, you all look great!
Jrsygrl – I’m really liking your stroller.
Sevilla – that’s a beautiful dresser, even more so since it’s been passed down.
Sully – that bedding is so cute, green gingham sounds perfect.
Body parts – I can’t tell yet, but this morning my hubby was pretty sure he knew where our little girl’s head was and he gave her a kiss and had a little chat with her.
Hospital Reg – not yet, maybe we’ll do it at our last class.
On Saturday I spent some time with my cousin and her 5 week old little girl. She’s so precious. My cousin looks fantastic, she’s been breastfeeding. My cousin has not looked as great as she does now in many years, and she put on about 40 pounds with this pregnancy. I want to breastfeed and am glad I’ll be able to ask my cousin for help since she’s doing so well with it. Also, my hospital is a big supporter of breastfeeding. Plus I love that it helps you get back into shape.
Never heard from my midwife regarding my 24 hr. urine test, so all must be well, phew.

Mel - I don't see a problem putting the baby to sleep in the crib for naps. Especially if you're on a budget no need to spend extra just for naptime.
Jane&Andy
01-30-2006, 12:32 PM
Mel - to the best of my knowledge my nephew slept in his crib from the beginning. He may have napped some in the pack n play but I know he didn't always sleep there at first. I don't think there's anything wrong with putting them in the crib at the beginning, its just that some people find it easier to have them sleep elsewhere. I'm planning to put my boy in the crib for at least some naps in the beginning. At night he'll be in the bassinet. I can't see myself co sleeping. I don't think our bed is big enough and I'm a rough sleeper - just ask my cat and husband - they've both been smacked by me in the middle of the night.
Briamcd - congrats on passing the 3hr test!
Sal - I hope you get good news today.
Sully - I love that bedding, it was one of my top choices.

Hi everyone,
Been so busy lately, didn't have time to post, but I have been keeping up!
Belly shots--everyone's looks so cute. I have to get DH to take one of me this week.
Jeeplover--I just heard back too today from my dr office. I have to take iron supplements as well. So, i'm going to buy them on my way home from work. It could be why I'm a bit more tired.
Body parts--no I haven't been able to identify them yet, but like everyone else I can feel her when she's kicking my ribs!
Hospital Reg.--No, we haven't yet. But I will see if they give me the paperwork this weekend, since we are having our tour this weekend!
This weekend DH and I are working on the nursery! We will be moving out the bed and DH's old desk. Both are going back to his parent's house. I'll work on cleaning out the closet of the clothes and other stuff so we can get everything together. Plus, DH said he would put together the crib too. We want to get a start on the room, since next weekend is my shower! I can't wait!
Other than that things at work could be better, I don't want to go into details, but I can't wait to go out on leave. I've already discussed with my boss and my last day is going to be April 7th!! :D Definitely looking forward to that!

To funny Jane! We have a king size bed and with the co-sleeper we got from Target, I am not worried. It even has a little night light on top!

I think the PNP would be very helpful for naps in the living room, but so would a glider, jogging stroller nad all the other $$ thing I want to buy!

Hey girls!
Mel, I've been looking at a co-sleeper, too, but I will probably just stick with the bassinet-at-bedside action. But realy, you can let them sleep just about anywhere when they're that little LOL
Great belly shots everyone!
QOTD 1: nope, can't really tell body parts, but then neither could my OB last time. I go back on 2/6, so if he says he can tell then, I'll start trying to also :)
QOTD 2: I did do my registration online, and got an auto-reply email for it -- I will swing by the office after my next appt and make sure everything is in order. Or we'll check while we're there for childbirth class on 2/11.
My shower is set for Feb. 25th -- got my registries fixed just in time this weekend. I have had so much trouble getting it set up online with BRU -- I *still* can't access it and have had to go into the store to make every change! What a pain.
At home today because the office across the hall is remodeling -- last week we had some paint fumes, but today I arrived to find some seriously toxic carpet fumes in full force -- had a headache and blurry eyes in the time it took me to log on and try to send some work home. Agh! I think it stinks that we'll get charged a sick day for it, considering it's, I don't know, the health of my baby??!! But whatever. I decided not to do any work after all! LOL WHy bother when I'm taking the time off anyway?
Off to try and do something productive, which is hard to do when faced with a free day at home :)

QOTD 1: kinda. I can identify his butt & his head easy enough though...his butt's the part always managing to push uncomfortably out my right side, and his head is resting not-so-gently on my bladder :p
QOTD 2: i filled it out ages ago, but keep forgetting to send it in...pregnesia! :rolleyes:
sleeping: Jilly napped just about anywhere - crib, pnp, swing, papasan. she slept at night in our room, at by bedside, in the pnp bassinet til 3 months old. on her 3 month b-day we put her in her crib to sleep for the first time...first time ever she slept through the night! :D
shower/girls day out/afternoon tea: set for March 12th :)
Update from 1/25 appt:
weight, total gain: 11lbs
BP: 120/62
Measuring: 2 weeks ahead!!! :eek:
Glucose: PASSED with a 95! Huzzah!
I cannot tell you the relief that goes with passing the GTT. I failed with DD and I was none too pleased with the 3 hour. For all the ladies that had to do the 3 hour this time...I feel your pain! It was no fun!

jrsygirl - Thanks for the pics. I like the Zooper, just wish it took a car seat. Our USA Baby has the 05 model, but I like the colors on yours a lot better!
Sal - Any word yet?
Napping - Caden used to nap in the swing or in the bassinet part of the PNP. We stayed downstairs most of the day so that was the easiest.
QOTD1 - I think I can feel the head sometimes, but can't tell the rest of the time. As long as I feel something, I don't care what it is!
QOTD2 - Not sure if I need to do this because we're delivering at the same hospital this time. Better check at my next appt.
All of the belly shots look great! I'm going to try and post one this week.
I scheduled my 4D u/s for Thursday. I can't wait.

I passed the 3 hour!!! :D :D :D
But I gained 8 pounds!!!:eek: oh my goodness. I hope I lose a little at the end like I did last time. I need to just keep repeating to myself how fast it came off last time. BFing is magical!
Mel I meant to add this...the reason Dylan napped in his pnp is because for the first 8 weeks that is all we had! We were still in our apartment then. once we moved to our house, he napped in his crib. Then the pnp became a luxury so I did not have to go up and downstairs. we had that set up in our family room with a changing station and his crib upstairs.
Jennifer you must post pics. I love seeing 4D u/s pics!!
after today I now start going to the doctor every two weeks. crazy!

Good morning ladies! Today marks 11 weeks since my water broke and I'm doing great! Still in bed, but great. My appointment yesterday went very well and the baby is getting so big. Yesterday's ultrasound was my 19th of this pregnancy! :eek: I had my steroid shots Sunday-Monday so now I feel even better if I were to go into labor early (which I don't think I will).
Looks like I'll be taken off strict bedrest and put on a more modified schedule when I hit 36 weeks (the first of April). I can't wait! I'm already making a list of the restaurants I want to visit. Not sure if I'll be able to drive, but I will be able to move back to my house (bedrooms are upstairs) and my DH comes back the first of March. Now if time would just fly!
I've got a couple of belly shots to share now that I can finally download pics on this computer!

Have a great day ladies!

Sully - I can't see your pics at work, but I am glad to hear everything is going so well :) Mmm ice cream
Napping/PNP - Thanks for all the thoughts on PNP. Looks like we'll hold off buying it for now and see how much money we have left for extras. Like Sal said it would be a luxury to have another place to change baby and put them to sleep.

Sal03 - see, I was just early, :) Congrats on passing! Told you there was nothing to worry about, hee2.
Sully - My doc said the same thing, I think I'm up 29/30 by now, and my Doc isn't worried in the least, he's all, you're little, your body is making up for what you didn't have before you got pregnant, haha. GREAT! Great belly pics btw, such a cute belly!!! :)
co-sleeping - I don't plan on doing it, i know, that's what I say now... but even with our king bed and DH and I being not such great big people, I still feel scared of crushing the baby. Plus I don't want DH to wake up with me during the night b/c he has to commute, and i work from home, so its OK if I'm groggy :)
jeeplover
01-31-2006, 11:09 AM
co-sleeping-we decided to just have the bassinet next to us since SIL has said she will give us hers (not holding my breath) and then my mom said we could have the one she used with me and all my sisters. We will be using either the crib for naps and the pnp for traveling.
So DH slipped about the name of the baby to my little sister. I knew it was just a matter of time before he did it-go figure that man can't keep a secret to save his life. I told my sister that if she told she was in big trouble! Now let's just make sure that he keeps his mouth shut tonight while his parents are here!
Oh had our second childbirth class last night. We watched a movie on women who were in the early stages of labor and all I could think of was MAN I DON'T THINK I CAN DO THIS! They were all so scary and looked like they were in excrutiating pain (I don't have a high threshold for pain). While we were watching it I turned to DH and said can we back out now? LOL! Geez if I can't handle that part there is no way I can handle watching the video next week on the deliveries! AUGH!

Finally I'm able to catch up a bit! :)
Great belly shots Sevilla, MMHinCA, Jane&Andy, jrsygirl, mel7dog & Sully
Congrats to everyone who passed the GTT!
QOTDs:
Tummy Stretching: Yup. I have had tons but the past few days have been better. No stretch marks yet but I'm not ruling them out.
Cloth diapers: I like the idea of them but there is no way DH would go along with it. Disposables just seem so much easier.
announcements: We plan on doing them but I have no idea what I want to do.
Getting bigger: My friend seems to think I won't get any bigger but with 9 more weeks to go I don't see how that will be possible.
Feeling baby body parts: I felt what seemed to be a knee or elbow once but other than I haven't been able to tell. I have been feeling movement on both sides at the same time.
Hospital registration: Not yet. I think we will do this in a few weeks.
Congestion: Big time!! I get it during the night though. I can't breathe through my nose most mornings until I blow it a few times. TMI but I get bloody snot almost every morning too. Guess that is common though. Apparently I have snored a few times as well.
Baby sleeping arrangements: We are planning on using the PNP and putting it next to our bed. I've been wondering about naps as well. The PNP will work too I guess but our bedroom is so far away from the rest of the house.
New QOTD - For those with animals (esp. cats) are you planning on doing anything to keep them out of the nursery and/or crib? Right now we keep the nursery shut. If we didn't have 3 cats I would probably leave the door cracked but I don't want the cats in the crib. We also don't let our cats sleep in our bedroom anymore because one of them likes to walk across me durning the night. She also wants to sleep above my head. I worry that she would climb in the PNP.
briamcd - I'm going to check out the announcements you mentioned. My family is huge so anyway to keep the costs down is good.
Sully - You are doing so well! I love the PBK bedding you picked out. It's one of my favorites but DH liked the stars better.
Sevilla - Your dresser is beautiful!
Sal03 - What a great deal on your crib. I promise I will post 3D pics ASAP. Just have to get them uploaded to Snapfish. Dylan's announcement is so cute. Snapfish is a good idea too. I already have a ton of pictures there and will have to make an order in a few months to keep my account. I love your crib bedding btw.
JenniferEC & uskiku - Thanks for the compliments on the glider. It's very comfy. We actually changed our order last week. I found another glider on their website that I liked better. Luckily we were able to change just in time.
Jane - I'm glad your pup is doing better. Your nursery looks great! Everything is coming along nicely. :)
Lunaria - Congrats on your move and I'm glad everything went well. I can't believe your baby is already 4lbs! I've been wondering how big mine is since I'm measuring a few weeks ahead.
---
I had my appointment yesterday. Baby is head down. Everything looks good so it was a pretty short appointment. We had our 4th childbirth class last night. Next week is the BF class and then the last class is about infant care. Our last pediatrician interview was yesterday. I'm still not sure who we will go with. They are all a little different so it's hard to choose.
My sister and I went shopping for an outfit for my shower. I found a really cute shirt at little boutique. Their pants were way to expensive so I ended up buying a pair of capris from ON. I still have to figure out something for my other shower but it isn't until March 4th.
Updates:
Next appointments: Feb 10th and Feb 24th. Oh my birthday is on Thursday and I will be 27. DH will be 29 two weeks from Thursday.
OMG this is long! I've been trying to catch up for the last two days and I didn't realize how long it was.

Sully - you look great!
New QOTD - For those with animals (esp. cats) are you planning on doing anything to keep them out of the nursery and/or crib? We have 3 cats and 1 dog. The dog sleeps in our room but in his kennel so thats not an issue. The cats will be a big issue, haven't quite figured it out yet. If we lock them out of our room they will bang on the door and wake us up. I think they'll be fine with us closing the nursery door, just not our door. I plan to start out with the baby in a bassinet in our room.
work has been exhausting me lately. I'm ready for the weekend already.

Jane&Andy - Thanks! It's good to know I'm not the only one who worries about this. We also have 3 cats and a dog. Sally sleeps in her bed on the floor next to DH and won't be a problem. We actually stopped letting the cats in our bedroom a few months ago because one of them (Pipi) had started peeing right in front of Sally's bed. Once we stopped letting her in there we had no problem. Pipi is very dominate over the dog and likes to sleep in the dog's bed, eat her food and hang out in her kennel so we think she was trying to assert herself. Anyways... :) I think for the most part the cats will leave the baby alone I just don't want them crawling in his PNP or crib.
ETA - It was hard for awhile to keep them out of the bedroom but they have adjusted fine. The first few nights were bad with them scratching at the door and meowing off an on all night. Once they figured out that we weren't letting them in they don't try anymore. I'm glad we did it now rather than when the baby comes so they are used to not being in there.
Jane&Andy
01-31-2006, 12:19 PM
Kopper - I think I may just have to wait and see how interested the cats are in the baby. If they leave him alone they can come in our bedroom. Otherwise we'll probably have to get a baby gate to block them off from coming upstairs (upstairs consists of our bedroom, the nursery and a bathroom). Its only 2 that sleep with us but they don't tolerate closed doors.

01-31-2006, 12:23 PM
We only had two that slept in our room as well. One wasn't a problem because she just stayed at the foot of the bed (well until she started peeing... :( ). The other one would walk across my head at night and sleep above my head so I'm pretty sure she would climb in the PNP. Hope your kitties do well. I really didn't want to kick them out but I was getting less and less sleep and DH was tired of cleaning the carpet.
Jane&Andy
01-31-2006, 12:27 PM
our cats are a lot alike. One mostly sleeps at the foot of the bed on DH's side but the other sleeps by my head. I'm going to have a bassinet by the bed and not the pack in play so I'm kinda just hoping the cats will decide there isn't enough room for them to sleep in there too.

New QOTD: We have two cats. They both sleep in our room with us although one of them "usually" sleeps in the perch we have in our room while the other sleeps at the foot of my bed. The male cat still tries to walk on me but the female cat has gotten pretty good about staying off me (because I have yelled at her a couple of times for it). As far as the nursery goes, it is going to be tough to keep them out of there considering our computer is in that room right now. I guess once we get the crib we will be making the decision about letting them in that room. I am very worried and know that they (at least the male cat) will be climbing into the pnp, bassinet, and crib.
Next regular OB visit is February 21st,
February 8th is cardiologist appointment and February 17th is high risk OB visit

well, the one thing I have working for me is that one of my cats weighs 19lbs (not overweight, just very large) and isn't very agile. I think he'd have a hard time jumping into things.

QOTD #1 I have not been able to feel body parts yet. There is definately more movement on my left side so I have assumed that is where her feet are, but who knows. I did wake up this morning to feeling something hard on my left side, like a head or butt was sticking out. Who knows what it was. I am getting an ultrasound this Friday so I am hoping they will be able to tell me how she is positioned.
QOTD #2 No hospital registration here. We take a hospital tour in March so I am assuming that is when we will get the information.
QOTD #3 We have one dog that we have decided to let have full access to the nursery. She is a VERY friendly lab who I have no fear of doing anything to the baby.
I have my next doctor's appointment on Friday. I just scheduled at "fun" ultrasound" for Friday as well. My doctor's office gives 2 ultrasounds and then you can schedule 2 "fun" ultrasounds whenever you want for $30. I am curious to know how she is positioned so I scheduled one for Friday (28 weeks).
Some of these questions may have already been answered but here I go anyways:
When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
How long will you be on maternity leave?
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?

When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
when I go into labor
How long will you be on maternity leave?
at least 8wks, longer if I'm lucky. I don't get paid maternity leave - all I get is my sick leave and vacation time, after that I'm unpaid, so it just depends on how long I can afford it.
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?
yes

When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
Right now my last planned working day will be March 31st (39w3d) unless my doctor takes me out earlier or I have the baby before that.
How long will you be on maternity leave?
I'm taking whatever paid leave my company offers (6 or 8 weeks).
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?
No. Well at least not for a year but I don't plan to go back to what I'm doing now.

When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
I'm a teacher. I'm planning to continue full-time until i'm 39 weeks. Our spring break starts the day i turn 39 weeks, so i get that whole time off :). Then after break if i haven't had the baby (since i know i could go anywhere up to 42 weeks before delivering), i'll probably come in for a few hours per day just to help the sub out and things like that. We'll see how i feel.
How long will you be on maternity leave?
I get maternity leave for the rest of the semester, though during the end of May i will have to go in a few days to help grade some projects and finals. That's not too big a deal though since i can pick the hours and bring the baby with me.
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?
Not sure. I know i'll do some sort of work after the baby is born but maybe i'll just do tutoring part-time instead of teaching full-time. I don't have to sign/decline my contract for next year until after the baby is born so for now i'm not thinking about it too much.

[B]When do you plan on going on maternity leave? My last day in the office is next Friday 2/10. After that I will work from home for a few weeks...
How long will you be on maternity leave? a few months..I'm thinking maybe through the summer although my boss just resigned so I may be "convinced" to come back sooner.
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?yes. unless we win a mega million lottery

Kopper - Great pics! I can't wait for my u/s. Wow, you are working up until the end.
jrsygirl - Do you buy lottery tickets? I always dream about winning, but it would be difficult considering we play maybe once a year.

When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
I plan on working up till the day I go into labor since I work from home. Just have to bring my back-up up to speed, then email/IM her when I'm sure I'm ready to bail. :) If I feel like it, I'll take off during the 39th week.
How long will you be on maternity leave?
As long as my company lets me, haha. Well I think its 3 months, then I can take my sick leave, and I get 3 weeks of vacation I can use.
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?
Right now I do, since I can work during down time with the baby and randomly at night, just as long as I get my hours in and tasks done. But I am toying with the idea of going part time, which is appealing, but I would love to have the extra cash, that way DH won't kill me if I go shopping, hehe.

I guess I should answer my own questions...
When do you plan on going on maternity leave? I will go out sometime between 36-38 weeks. I get 4 weeks before the baby if I chose to take it.
How long will you be on maternity leave? I plan on taking 12 weeks.
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby? Yes, but I will continue to work from home 3 weeks a month and work in the office 1 week a month. I will also go down to 4 days a week taking Fridays off.
Has anyone measured their belly? I did tonight for the first time... 39 inches! :eek:

When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
I am leaving my current job in the military and will be finished middle of March around week 35/36
How long will you be on maternity leave?
I am not sure if I am going back to work, but if I do I will be taking at least 3 months, more like 4
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?
Still not sure. DH will be delpoying in Aug and I don't need to work, so as of now I am planning to SAH. If I do get a job when he levaes it would only be because I am bored and need to get out of the house, most likely part time.

Kopper - Great pics! What a sweet face! :)
QsOTD:
When do you plan on going on maternity leave?
Ha! Well, I had worked at my job for about eight weeks when I was put on bedrest. Now I've been gone for 11 weeks. They are holding my job (though they have no obligation to do so), and they paid me for the little bit of vacation I had and for one additional week (b/c they are nice!). I guess I'm already on "maternity leave" since I'm not going back until after the baby is born.
How long will you be on maternity leave?
Tough question. Ideally, for years! But we think I will have to go back (depends on what kind of job my DH finds when he returns and the general health of our baby). However, I don't make much and if the cost of childcare is too high to make my paltry salary worth it, we might rethink things. I'm hoping though, if I have to go back, I'll go back part-time after about eight weeks...and then start full-time in the fall. I work for a graduate school so the summer is slower for them anyway.
Do you plan on going back to work after the baby?
See question above. We plan that I will, but it's not what I really want and we are just taking a "wait and see" approach.
Belly measurement - I have been keeping record of this, and as of this morning, I'm 38 inches!
Jane&Andy
02-01-2006, 07:01 AM
belly measurement - haven't done this yet. So just where are y'all measuring - all the way around at the belly button? higher? lower?
jrsygirl
02-01-2006, 07:30 AM
sal Here are the Tango specs:
Stroller weight 26 lbs, weight capacity 40 lbs per seat
Handle height 39.5"
Folded dimensions 40" length, 31.5" width, 14" height
Seat width 10"
Backrest Height 18"
6" front and 7" rear EVA wheels
So i guess its an inch and a half wider than the maclaren
Sully130
02-01-2006, 07:33 AM
Jane - I try to measure around the widest part. Usually that is about at my belly button (maybe slightly below).
Jane&Andy
02-01-2006, 07:39 AM
sully - thanks - thats what I figured. I think belly button is the widest part for me. Well, I need to grab a tape measure with me to go shop surplus for a new desk this morning (being moved to a different office space) so maybe I'll sneak off with the tape measure to measure myself today.
Question for the ROs - nursing bras? how much bigger should I buy? I know I need to have at least a few nursing bras to take to the hospital but would like to avoid buying too many until I see just how much bigger I get.
briamcd
02-01-2006, 07:40 AM
Nope can't really feel body parts, sometimes I can kind of guess the head. but she doesn't move very much, so i don't get an opportunity to figure out other body parts.
I haven't registered yet, I'll probably wait until March. They said if we've ever been to the hospital before we'd be in the computer w/ our health insurance info, and I had to go for labwork. So...I'm not in a rush to finish out the registration for the labor and delivery part.
Pets - my dog should be fully recovered from surgery by time baby is born, and he will go back outside in the fence with his sister. My cat will probably be locked up in the laundry room at night, and will be able to roam free during the day. The nursery is currently open but the cat does not go in the b/c the dog chases him whenever he moves around the house.
Maternity - My company is in the process of shutting down, so I'm going to work as long as I can but no later than March 31st. After that I plan on being a SAHM.
Co-Sleeping - Nope, too terrified i'd smother the baby, and I'm a light sleeper. I just don't want to risk it. So baby will be sleeping in a bassinet by the bed. We have a PNP for the living room, and the crib in the nursery. Either of these will serve as napping place, whichever is convenient for that time. :)
belly measurement - I don't want to know how fat I am in inches. lol. I've even stopped looking at my naked belly in the mirror, i'm avoiding my stretch marks.
Kopper - love the U/S. so precious.

jrsygirl thanks! I'll try not to bug you with any more questions!! :D
Nursing bras I think I only brought one with me to the hospital. And I do not even think I wore one there. I did not get big until my milk came in which was not until 4 days later. Then I went that weekend and bought a few more once I saw the size I was when my milk came in. I am a special case though because I am really small so I could totally get away without a bra in the hospital with my gown and robe on. I am the only person in the world who does not get bigger with nice cleavage during pregnancy :rolleyes:
eta SaphirimalMei Happy 1st birthday to Jillian! So exciting. I was so emotional on Dylan's first birthday. Hope you guys have fun!

Kopper – what a beautiful baby, those pics are fabulous.
Maternity Leave – will start when the midwife makes me stay home, I’m hoping I can work through the end of March (36w2d), but right now I find that doubtful, (and I so hope to still be pregnant then, I really want to have the twins in April at 38 weeks/full term). I am exhausted every morning, taking a shower, preparing breakfast, and dressing for work leaves me out of breath and has been for the past 2 months already. Once I arrive at work 15 minutes later, I like it, I don’t have to travel far from my office to go to the ladies, kitchen, fax or copier.
Length of maternity leave – my company does not provide maternity leave. I will be on state disability and use up some of my saved vacation time (5 weeks). It depends on whether I have a c-section or not, a c/s allows 2 more weeks on state disability (8 weeks). So around 12 weeks, I guess.
Back to Work – definitely. I would love to be a SAHM but our medical insurance is through my job and we need the money. As far as who’ll watch the babies, I am hoping to return to work part-time and also hoping that we have enough family members living nearby to take care of the twins while I’m at work. If not, both my hubby and I should be able to work part-time to care for the babies.
Oh, the lottery, I must remember to play powerball tonight on my way home, 165 million dollars.
Belly – that’s funny you ask, I just measured mine for the first time last night, 46 inches, but please remember I’m having twins. Last week the midwife told me I was measuring 39 weeks pregnant.
Happy 1st Birthday to Jillian !

Morning!
Happy Birthday to Jilly :) What a cutie.
QOTD's:
Cats: Don't have any, but if you're really concerned about the cats getting in the crib you can get one of those mesh tents they make to keep the kids from climbing out -- I remember several girls had those to keep cats out when I was pg with Caro.
Belly: haven't measured.
Maternity Leave:
When am I going out? Probably the day I go into labor LOL -- ideally, I'll make it through the end of March.
How long am I out? Officially, I don't qualify for any leave, so any time I take will be supervisor-approved personal leave, unpaid of course. So they could call me back at any time, but I know I'll have a dr's note for at least 6 wks.
Am I going back? For now, the answer is yes, but we're doing everything we can so I can just quit. Taxes were eye-opening this year, as my paltry salary pushed us *this close* to the next tax bracket, and as far as we're concerned, that may be the last straw toward officially saying it's not worth it for me to work. We're waiting for dh's most recent promotion & raise to become official, and then I think we'll call it. (Yay! Fingers crossed!) With the higher tax payments & full time daycare for one, aftercare for another, it's so not worth what I'd bring home to have someone else raising my child for her first year.
Great belly pics everyone!!
Check back soon...

SaphirimalMei Happy Birthday to Jillian!!!

Maternity leave Well, I won't be teaching after the spring break (yay!!! :D), but will continue with other duties until I go into labor ;) I will get the summer off (until the end of August), but as to going back... I'll try to get one semester unpaid leave... Still have to talk to the Big Boss about it and I'm not looking forward to that conversation... :o
Belly measurements Will try to remember and measure myself once I get home!
Waiving to everyone -- Happy hump day! :)

wow! It feels like ages since I've been on CC!! Judd and I had our last solo vacation last week to Mexico (playa del carmen) -- i drank a TON of virgin mango-coladas and frozen lemonades, ate lots of good fresh veggies/fruit/fish, and, most importantly, slept and rested! DH was a little restless just sitting aroudn the pool/beach, but not me :p
Otherwise, things are going well - still feel good, baby feels like he's tapdancing, esp as I'm trying to sleep! I have a bit of sciatica in both legs/hips, but it def feels better once I move around a bit.
FINALLY ordered the crib/furniture today, so we'll see how long it takes to get in. I'm itching to get the baby's room set up! We're not planning on re-painting, so at least that cuts down on the things to do.
Only annoying thing is the Baby Name -- we've got a short list, and, per DH's request, we sent the short list to our parents for input. Needless to say, we didn't get any constructive crititism-- comments from "You have GOT to be kidding me!" to "Why not these names" despite that we said that we're def choosing from the list we sent out. :rolleyes: Henseforth, we're telling everyone IRL that the kids name will be Elvis until he's born.
Finally, some QOTD's
Pets: We have a dog, and will allow 'monitered' visits. When baby is in crib, no problem w/ dog wandering in the room. Willl block dog out of room during tummy times/bouncy seat on floor times.
Belly: haven't measured, but don't feel as big as I could be!
Maternity Leave:
When am I going out? I'm aiming for due date -- if he's late, I may work a couple of extra days, but not held to it. I'm plannign to have everything transitioned 2 weeks prior to dd.
How Long off? I'm planning on about 4 months
Am I returning to work? Yes, but with shorter days for the first year or so. (30 hrs/ week as opposed to 40). No family nearby, so its daycare
Birth Announcements? Absolutely! Invites were my fav. part of wedding planning, and I'm in love with the ones from http://www.inababycarriage.com
feeling body parts: nothing discernable, but know that this kid is on the move! I feel kicks/knees/punches all over the place!

Measuring belly - Haven't done it yet but I might have to tonight. I just never thought about it. :o
SaphirimalMei -Happy 1st Birthday to Jillian! I love her name btw. Hope you have a nice dinner tonight.
Working until the end - Unfortunately unless I have a medical reason to stop working or I take vacation time I can't stop working until the baby is born. I could try and go on unpaid leave but that's not really an option. I'm hoping my doctor will write a note for me the last week or two.
Pets - Thanks to everyone for responding to my question. I've thought about getting a crib net and DH has thrown around the idea of installing a wooden screen door in front of the nursery door. We actually looked into Dutch doors but they were way to expensive and at least two of my cats would be able to jump over it if the top was open. The bottom would have only been about 3ft. I'm actually worrying more about keeping the house as hair free as possible etc.

USA Baby came to fix our crib today. One of the ends was missing some finish so they replaced it. Other than that not much is going on. Baby is moving up a storm as I type. Eariler it felt like he was playing the drums in there with his rapid fire kicking or punching.
Oh here is the chair we changed our order to. I like the arm and back style better than the one I posted last.

Our couples shower is one week from Saturday and I'm getting excited! My BF is planning it and I know it will be a ton of fun. My sister is planning another shower for my mom and MIL's friends and MIL is starting to cause some drama. She has already been telling people about the shower and inviting them even though my sister is technically the host. Friday she told me she invited one of her customers and her daughter. The daughter is a former friend of mine that I am really really not comfortable around and is pretty much a drama queen. I told MIL that I really didn't want her there b/c of past history. She asked me what I expected her to do and I said that I didn't know. Really she shouldn't be inviting people when my sister hasn't even finished compiling a guest list much less sending the invites out. Grrr... Sorry to vent.

cagey - Congrats on ordering your furniture. I hope it comes in soon for you. We were told our glider will take 10 weeks to get in and we ordered it a week ago Saturday. I have my fingers crossed that it will take less time though. I also didn't repaint the nursery. It was already a very pale blue.
I'm sorry your family is giving you such a hard time about names. I just don't understand why people feel the need to say/do things like that.
jrsygirl - Thanks! That fabric is really cute in person. We ended up ordering the chair in sort of sage green color. I would post the fabric color from the website but it looks nothing like the one we ordered.

SaphirimalMei - Happy 1st to Jillian.
Txfish - Hope your DH gets his promotion and raise.
Kopper - That chair looks really comfy. Hope the shower drama gets worked out. How odd of your MIL to invite people when she's not throwing it.
belly measurement - I got 40" but I couldn't find our tape measure so I used the one from Caden's Home Depot workbench. I'm sure it must be off because I don't think I'm that big, or am I?
I'm so sad today. I called earlier about preschool for Caden in the fall. It's only one day a week for 2 hours, but I can't believe he'll start preschool already. I'm sure it will be good for him and good for me to have a little break each week.

JenniferEC - I'm sorta scared to know my belly measurement especially since I don't know what I started out as. I don't think 40" is bad though. Preschool for Caden, wow! He is growing up.
Thanks for support on the shower issue. It actually isn't a surprise though that she would cause drama. When we were sending out wedding invites she did something similar. We told her we were planning for ~150 people. She took that to mean that she could have 75 guests and my parents could have 75 guests. DH had to calmly tell her no that we had our own friends to invite as well. She still insisted on inviting way to many that my parents had to cut down their own list and they were the ones paying. :rolleyes: I really won't be surprised if she expects to invite 40-50 people to this shower and my mom would have to cut her list again. I was nice am only inviting 5-6 to this shower since we are having the couples' shower with all of our friends. Sorry, probably way more than anyone wanted to know. :o I'm just sorta bored here today and avoiding real responsibility!

I just got a call from USA Baby and our furniture is being delivered tomorrow morning! I am so excited! They told me it would take 6-8 weeks and it will be 4 weeks this Saturday! Yeah for it being early! :)

briamcd We are still waiting for our glider and ottoman, but we ordered those later and was told it could take 12 weeks.

MMH - That's great! We had pretty much the same experience with USA Baby. It took 3 or 4 weeks instead of the 6-8 they said it would take. I'm hoping our glider is the same way otherwise we might not get it until after the baby is born.

I tried to come back and post yesterday afternoon but my internet at work cut out.
Kopper - I'm sorry about the shower troubles. My shower is going to be tiny so I can't even imagine dealing with my MIL trying to invite 40-50 people! :eek: My wedding only had 40 guests! nice chair! :)
MMH - yay for your furniture arriving early! I hope mine does too!
belly measurement - I can't seem to find a flexible tape measure to do this with and I'm probably happier not knowing. :p
cagey - yay for ordering your furniture!
I am due in 2 calendar months from today. :) And today is our fifth anniversary of our first date (its easy to remember b/c of groundhogs day :p ).
Nothing much going on here. I didn't sleep well last night. I don't know about the rest of y'all but I am so very ready for the weekend. :)

Nervous anyone???
Is it just me or is anyone else getting nervous about delivering, being in a hospital, etc...
I'm a pretty healthy person, exercise, eat well, low blood pressure, low resting heart rate, etc, and I've NEVER been admitted into a hospital, not even for a broken bone, not anything... I'm just feeling a lot of anxiety of being in a hospital, I don't even like going to them haha. Just wondering if anyone is starting to feel nervous, b/c its really coming up FAST... I can't believe how fast these 30 weeks have gone, I was all prepared for it to be slow. :)
Pack that bag yet?
What got me thinking about all that, was that I was reading on the parents.com board that some gals, in their 27th week, were already packing thier hospital bags, I'm like, whoa, I barely have the furniture in the nursery, I wasn't even thinking about what I'm taking to the hospital, eek! Guess I should get started on that huh? :)

Charissa - hospitals don't bother me. I had a severe head injury when I was 17 and ended up staying in the hospital for about a week and a half AFTER I woke up. So that got me over any issues I had with getting IV's and being in the hospital. You know its bad when a new IV feels so good (my veins kept getting messed up the medications so they had to start new IVs on a regular basis).
I'm anxious about labor and delivery though.
I'll probably pack my hospital bags after my shower since I'll have 3 house guests that weekend and don't need any extra clutter laying about.

Yes, I'm terrified of being in the hospital. I've never been admitted before. The LDP room is cozy though, so it might make it easier to handle. I'm also worried about delivery. My DH has been showing me pictures in his nursing book. (They're not pretty)
Hospital Bag - I'll probably wait until after my shower b/c I really don't have anything to pack yet. I don't want to pack an outfit b/c I'm wearing all the maternity outfits I got. I don't have an extra set to sit in a suitcase for 3 months. I think I'll probably make a list soon, and that way if anything happens before I pack the bag, i can send DH or another family member home to pack a quick bag. The hospital is only 10 minutes away.

MMH That is so exciting! Can't wait to hear how it looks
Cagey your vacation sounds WONDERFUL. I advise everyone having their first baby to get away before the baby comes. Even just for a weekend!!
Jennifer I hear ya. Dylan is going Tuesday mornings starting in the fall. It is kind of a pre-pre school. I go with him half the year then in January he goes by himself for the two hours. It is so weird to think that soon he won't be the baby anymore, he is going to be a big brother
For some reason this really made me laugh I couldn't find our tape measure so I used the one from Caden's Home Depot workbench.
Kopper sorry about your MIL drama. I really don't like when people create drama around events that are supposed to be stress-free and just fun for me (ahem my mother) so I can definitely sympathize
Hospital/Nervous Somehow I am not nervous about labor and delivery even after going through it once! I am more nervous about all the logistics working out with Dylan and missing him while I am in the hospital and how he will be when we come home with a baby sister.
Hospital bag I may throw some things in a bag in a few weeks that I know I was happy having the first time around like my headband (I was psycho during labor, could not have one strand of hair on my face) and my chapstick (I am addicted to the stuff) and my nursing nightgown. We'll probably pick out a going home outfit soon.
This baby is SUCH a mover!! I feel her rolling around in there all the time!

Sal03 - Thanks for the sympathy. I'm pretty used to her antics and comments by now. You would think I wouldn't let them bother me but sometimes I can't help it.
Good idea about the headband! I need to make a list soon.
Jane&Andy - Thanks! My MIL can be hard to deal with sometimes. Happy dating anniversary. :) Groundhog's Day is a favorite of mine too! :D Sleeping is not going as well for me either.
charissa - I'm not really nervous about the hospital since I spent Thanksgiving there. We sorta had the extra tour I guess. I am nervous about delivering and how it will all go. Our classes are also at the hospital so that makes it more familiar. Have you taken your tour yet? That might help put your mind at ease.
Nope I haven't packed my bag either. I figure I will do it near the end of the month (~35 weeks). Does that seem too late?

Well today is my birthday and DH surprised me with these two Willow Tree figurines. :) I've been eyeing the Cherish one for years and had planned on buying it for my best friend when she was pregnant but couldn't find it at the time. He also gave me a much needed spa gift cert. I can't wait to get a massage. Tonight we are going out to dinner with my family and then we will come back to our house for Boston cream pie that DH made yesterday. Yummy!

MMH ooh, that's exciting about the furniture!
Cagey your vacation sounds heavenly right now... mm... thinking of sunshine and relaxing at the beach...
Kopper Lovely figurines -- soooo cute of your DH! :) And love your furniture choices! Sorry about the shower issues... I totally sympathize, since DH's parents are divorced and things like this can be a little tricky to organize... Hope you can somehow escape all the stress!
Jane Happy dating anniversary! :)
Sal/Jennifer awww... preschool classes... this must be such a milestone for you guys!
Hospital/nervous Not really nervous at all about hospitals; slightly nervous about the actual delivery and labor though... ;) But also kinda looking forward to it; I mean, I want to hold my baby boy!
Belly measurement uh oh, 40 1/2 inches! :p

Kopper - Love the chair! I told DH last night I don't care if we don't really have the $ I need to have a chair or at least a glider. I may steal your print :o
Hospital Nervous - I am not so much worried about being in the hospital as I am about the labor itself. I mostly get nervous that the people will try to give me drugs or say I need a c-section if I really don't, that sort of thing.
Hospital bag - I probably won't pack mine till a week or two before. I plan to labor at home as long as possible, so that would also give me something to do.
Sal - My baby is such a mover as well. I don't think he sleeps very much lately!
