Jbenny Thanks for posting the up and coming sales!

Now, I just have to get my paws on the Circle of friends coupon!!

mel7dog In my case, for some strange reason, Yahoo mail lumps all my gymboree email into my Bulk folder which I promptly delete en masse. I have tried to go in there and look when I know there would be one and I have also tried to save the email address to my address book. Nothing works. It still gets dumped.

it'll be handed out during the Labor Day sale or if you're planning on buying online, you can use the code "FRIEND" or "CIRCLE" b/w 9/15-9/17.

HTH!

another question here :o Does anyone know when the next line is coming out or when the sale items will be reduced again? I tried to search on gymbohaven, but no luck. Don't want to rush and buy the things I'm eyeing for 20% off, if they are going to be reduced the next day or something!

Mel - the next Girl line is a Fox and will be out Sept 4th. Gymbohaven has some pictures of what the line will look like. Just go to the Girls section and near the top you will see the future line that will take you to the pictures. Right now, there is nothing on when or what the next boy line is.

I ordered a bunch from the "start your engines" line last night :)

Those who have a store near you are so lucky! I would so be going today!

Sale starts today till Monday 20% off all sale stuff.

From now on I am not buying anything at Gymboree if its not on sale.

I bought a few peices from the cherry line and now the 2 leggings and 2 shits are down like 8-10 bucks each..ahh that makes me so mad..With the money I would have saved buying on sale I could have bough another outfit for the kids. So annoyed. So, today when DH gets home i am going to return the stuff i just bought to get gymbucks and I'll wait till it goes on sale or the COF coupon comes out. Its almost not even worth getting/using the gymbucks to a certain extent. Sorry to vent!! LOL LOL

DISNEY....I hear ya! I feel like they sales girl is going to flip out if she sees me comming in again. I already returned 3/4 of my Cherry stuff for Safari stuff. Now I'm really tempted to go back to get a price adjustment on everything...you're right, another $30 is another outfit!

The problem is I don't think I can price adjust the Cherry stuff that I kept, because I bought that more than 7 days ago. So do I want to be a real pain in the a$$ and return the 4 pieces that I kept and then rebuy them at the sale price? We're talking about $10 here, I'm not sure if it's really worth it.

Ugghh I do this everytime..I run out the 1st day of Gymbucks and then they always have a sale. One day I'll learn!

This happen to me to..I went in bought a few things ans asked about the coupons the sales lady looked at me like i was nuts and said they are not giving out coupons for anything. I was like yeah okay!

Then I decided to go to another Gymboree that is a teer 1 to see if they had more sales stuff(which they did) anyways I was paying for all my stuff and asked this sales lady for a coupon. She also told me oh we aren't giving out coupons..at this point i was flipping mad..are they just giving them to certain people i was thinking..i mean i spend 200 freaking bucks...next to her was the manager..the manager whom is always there when i go in just slid me the coupon and said her ya go..So, I scored my coupon..Finally!!! If it were no for the fact that the manager was stading there I most likly would have not gotten one there either. Tomorrow i am going to another Gymboree to pick up a shirt they are holding and if i get anotehr coupon I will give it to someone on here.

buying on sale - I ONLY buy clothes when there is a sale on the "sale" stuff AND it's gymbucks time. Like today I bought clothes that were 40% off, plus another 20%, and I earned $25 in gymbucks. As long as the clothes are in season I couldn't justify paying more.

I can believe they are trying to be stingy with the coupons, WTF?! What's the big deal, anyone can order online with the code?

jbenny75

I didn't get a COF coupon either. I thought of it while I was waiting to check out, but then started talking about the outfits I was buying with the salesgirl and I forgot to ask! :(

I got the red "Speedy" sweatsuit w/ the striped t-shirt and the bibs and matching onesie from the Start Your Engines Line. I also got the matching socks. I'm considering going back for more from Dig, Dig, Dig. I'm hoping that Jr. Varsity is on sale by the time Gymbucks redemption rolls around.

I am still fairly new at buying things from Gymboree and I i think this is the first time for me that they had a sale on sale stuff and you can earn gymbucks! I agree..thats the best way to go.

I know I will get the hang of when is the best time to buy and save the most money.

the COF coupon is a good one if they have good sales going on.

I purchased the remaining cherry line items that I wanted and I forgot to ask for my COF coupon when checking out! I am so bummed. :(

If someone has an extra one come their way, can you pass it along to me? I am leaving on our disney cruise on Sunday and I don't have time to go back to Gymbo to get it.

Thank you to all the girls that helped me out with my clothes I purchased before gymbucks. I repurchased them and then returned them at another gymbo store with my old reciept! And, I got an additional 20% off on top of it!

I am looking forward to the baby sale next weekend! That is when I purchased items first at gymboree last year and I have been hooked ever since.

A question about the baby sale: I know it starts Sept. 7, but how long does it run? Also, how much are items typically marked down? (Read: would it be better to go to the labor day sale or wait for Circle of Friends online?) Oh, and is it just baby boy/baby girl or is it those and newborn??

Thanks!

Chylynn
09-01-2006, 10:09 AM
These lines will be the ones on sale during the baby sale:

Sep 4th
- Fox Line - girls
- Racoon/owl - boys
- Squirrel/ owl/ beaver - layette

Items will be $10 or $20 a piece.

This is what is going on/coming up in regards to sales of gymboree:

Gymbucks
Earnings 8/24 - 10/1
Redemption 10/5 - 10/15

Aug 31st - Sept 4th
Labor Day Sale
20% off sale items

Baby Sale 9/7 -14th? (it usually ends the day before COF starts)
Newborn and Baby Girl/Boy

9/15 - 9/17
Circle of Friends
30% off entire purchase
card needed instore,
2 codes online are FRIEND or CIRCLE.

HTH! I just peaked at the new stuff coming out and I am not too impressed. I am tired of all of these animals. The first line was cute, but come on! Do we really need all these lines with critters on them?

I think the COF sale will be better then the Labor Day Sale or the Baby Sale. It's 30% off EVERYTHING, not just certain lines and certain pieces. I'm hoping to hold out until then, but I may buy some things during the Baby Sale if it winds up being a better deal or if the one sweater from Primrose I really want is almost sold out!

Darn, I was hoping that the Mix and Match line would be in the baby sale....I think I'll go get what I want today and try to re-buy during COF or Baby Sale if it is cheaper...

You can get good deals during the baby sale though. Most items are 10 or $20 so I just pick up what is cheaper than COF and wait for COF for those that aren't.

Also I don't understand why they are so frugal w/ the COF coupons, it does get people to come in and spend, I wouldn't be buying anything if I didn't have the coupon anyway. My store usually gives one if I ask...we'll see if I can get my mits on one.

DisneyGirl

The COF is a better sale however since this sale is 20% off all sale stuff I am afraid if I wait till COF to start all the stuff I am buying for next summer will be sold out. Plus all in all its really only another 10% off. Which really is no big deal since i am buying really cheap stuff I find on the sale rounders.

I have a baby coupon that came in the mail..and not sure i will be using it.
Its 20% off all baby items.

what the heck is up with their sizing? I got DD some pieces from the EIEIO line, Lamb overalls, bodysuit and the lamb pants. They are huge (long) on her. I bought 12-18 mos and she is in the 50th% for height and at 16 months they are dragging on the floor. We have the same size overalls (earlier line - giraffe) and they fit fine. I don't get it....but at least it should last her through the winter.

meanwhile the 12-18 month onesie is a bit tight...

That stinks! It is sooo darn cute. The jacket also has a racecar on the back, which I never saw before until I got it to the register.

meanwhile the 12-18 month onesie is a bit tight...

I have seen people mention in Ebay listings that their onesies are a size bigger than the rest of the outfit they are selling b/c they get a better fit with a larger size. I just bought my first Gymbo onesie, so I'm about to find out.

Well I ventured back to the store....I think they are ready to kill me! But, I got a price adjustment on my $150 worth of stuff which gave me another $30 to spend on more stuff. I don't care anymore if I'm being annoying, I just want to get the best deal. It's their own fault for running all these still sales. (Just mark EVERYTHING down another 30% and we won't have to play these silly games anymore!)

And I agree, enough with the animals already! I still waiting for something to LOVE!

I went today and asked which lines were going to be included in the Baby Sale and the salesperson said, "Baby sale? What Baby sale?" I said that in my last Gymbo visa statement that it said it started 9/7. She said she knew nothing about it. Do you think they just act dumb? I can't believe they don't know about a sale that is starting in less than a week. I see that salesperson all the time so it's not like she is new.

She then said, "I don't know about a Baby Sale but all sale stuff is another 20% off through Monday and they never run sales that close to each other. " WTF? Anyway after that discussion I felt it was useless to ask about COF.

I got the Kitty Quilted jacket - they only had 3 left and just one in her size. I'll get a price adjustment or re-buy it online if I can save some $ later....I also picked up a cute searsucker top for next summer for about $6.

I was at the mall today and stopped in to see if I could score a COF coupons. When I asked they played dumb like I was making it up:confused: WTH? I pushed a little bit and she finally gave me one. Was that so hard? These sales people are really starting to aggravate me!

isaacsmommy
09-01-2006, 06:35 PM
Yep the sales people are kinda annoying about playing off like they don't know anything. I was told they don't give them out to customers just to their friends and family! WTF??? Then she said customers would have to go online to get one. I wondered what she meant then I think I figured it out. I think she meant to buy one like off ebay. I so bet the sales people try to avoid giving them out so they can sell them. That ticks me off. So if anyone gets one (or an extra one) they don't want I'd love to have one.

DisneyGirl
09-01-2006, 07:47 PM
I so agree with everyone on here that the sales people are getting really really annoying! I went to 3 gymborees today(my Dh watched the kids and I mall hoped..LOSER! LOL) and I asked each store about the COF coupons and they all looked at me like" who told you..what COF coupons"AHH it pissed me off. If i go on the theory that they only give them to "friends and family" then why the heck are they sitting next to the registar??? makes no sence..

As far as the baby sale..the sales people have to know about them..Because if we know then I would imagine the people who work there should know.

alienhost
09-02-2006, 08:36 AM
It's so stupid, like it's some big secret that they are having a sale or COF. Why do they care, isn't their goal to sell as much as possible? Wouldn't they rather me buy it at the store than buy it on-line? It must be better for the store's #s to get in-store sales.

The only thing I can think of is that they get a limited # of coupons and they truly just want to give it to family and friends. However, as an employee they receive 40% so I would think they would be using the employee discount for family/friends anyway.... so dumb.

In the past you had to make a purchase of like $100 to get coupons, am I remembering correctly? I remember seeing a sign and I purchased less but called the store later on and the manager said no prob, she'd give me a coupon, but I had to go back to the mall.

DisneyGirl
09-02-2006, 07:46 PM
Even if you had to spend $100 to get the coupons then i should have at least 2 in my hands..LOL

At least the gymborees I went to the other night they sure didn't look like they had a limited number of COF coupons. There were like 60 stacked at each of the 2 registars. So, i dought they have a limited number. but, then again i don't work there...so who really knows.

ETA there is a 20% off coupon going for $10.50! And people selling the online COF codes as well - just the online code and not the paper coupon. I hope people realize you can find the online code places! It's insane!

I do bet that the NWT clothing are some employees, especially the ones that sell them all the time

Here's the listing on the COF coupon off ebay. This def. has to be an employee to sell that many coupons. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160025252775&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006

Does anyone know if they give out COF cards at Play and Music? We're signing up there next Tuesday. If not, I'm really tempted to buy one on Ebay. What's $3 to get one if you're buying a good amount of stuff? I know I could just buy online with the coupon code, but if they're out of sizes I need online, I'll need to hit the store to see if they have them, ya know? I could kick myself for forgetting to ask when I was there the other day.

DisneyGirl

It is def. shady of them, but they know they have the Gymbo addicts in the palm of their hands! Maybe not, they only sold 4, it's now at 66, I think.

I'll wait to see if I get one at Play and Music. One of my friends is signing up with me and she's not into the Gymbo clothes. I'm kind of hoping that she gives me her Gymbuck and maybe her COF coupon, if we get them. If she does, I'll pass it on to one of you.

That person selling 70 COF coupons must be a employee. I can't think of any other way a person could that many. They can't be allowed to do that either. It makes me mad! I practically want to report them or something. This whole thing is ridiculous! I say next time someone is refused a coupon in store, they ask a manager if it is acceptable for someone to be selling 70 of them online! :p

When i worked for the Gap..they gave us a certain number to hand out to friend/family then the store had a bunch to hand out to customers that askes or that were regular shoppers at our store. So that crap that its only for the ones they know are BS-ing us, espcially when I see stacks of them sitting on the registar.

I have been lurking in this thread as I have recently started buying DS some Gymboree outfits. However, after reading about these sales associates and their elitist attitudes is making me never want to shop there again! Maybe that's something the higher ups would want to know. I want to shop where my business is appreciated...not where they make you feel like you should be honored they let you shop there.
I have noticed that the associates tend to be rather snotty. Seriously, I wonder if they are trained to be that way.

DisneyGirl
09-04-2006, 06:27 PM
Though the sales people are less than helpful and even less willing to give out freakin coupons I don't think you should stop shopping at your local gymboree as they may not be like that. I would give your gymboree a shot and see if you will have the same problem before completly crossing them off.

But, overall I know how you feel when you say you would rather shop where your business is appreciated...

Since I'm up at the crack of dawn (with my 2 yr old) I decided to check out the new lines on line. I like a lot of the boys line and I love the beaver stuff in the newborn line (actully that is what ds #2 is going to be for halloween, from gymboree as well  ). I am going to be in so much trouble! :D I didn't really look at the girl lines much, but I saw one of the newborn girls had mushrooms. I personally wouldn't want mushrooms on my kids clothes, even if the clothes themselves are cute. Just not a fan of mushrooms, I guess.

Oh yeah I want some more from Jr Varsity too. Unfortunately I bought some of it already (full price :( ) I just couldn't wait, but I did get gymbucks. I actually didn't like Dig, Dig, Dig much but the one shirt I did like was gone the other day.

Not sure how I feel about the Baby Girl line. It's not as "crittery" as I thought it was going to be, which is good. But I don't know if I like the light purple colors. But the new newborn line I love. It's a shame there is not much of it. I'll have to see if I can squeeze my 23 month old into the 18-24 size. Might not be spending too much money this time....that's probably as good thing!

I just checked out the new line...I agree with Jaylin that it is not as "crittery" as I expected, but I am in no rush to go out and buy it. I am sort of indifferent to it. Oh well, there should be several new lines before redemption period, so hopefully I will find something to use my gymbucks on!

i just had to post that I found someone on Ebay selling their 20% off coupon code w/ a min. bid of $15.00...are they serious?

also if you buy something before COF starts can you get a price adjustment if you have the coupon and are w/in the adjustment period? Does the fine print say anything about no adjustments on prior purchases?

I'm new to this thread, but I was at Janie & Jack today and they had a big stack of COF coupons on the counter. I stuck some in my purse while the salesgirl was turned around wrapping my purchases. ;)

alienhost
09-06-2006, 07:29 AM
disney: you get 5% off each purchase, automatically at the register. You get 1% rewards on non gymbo purchases which is issued as a Gymbo gift card once a year. I use it mainly for Gymbo purchases only b/c I have another rewards card. I think it is nice to get another 5% off - every bit helps! I think you can get a $10 enrollment bonus too.

I like it better than the Gap card b/c you don't have to use those $10 coupons all the time, instead you just get $ off your purchase.

DisneyGirl
09-06-2006, 07:35 AM
Alien thanks! I had thought about getting the Gymbo Visa , but I wasn't sure if it was worth it.
I use my gap card all the time and I don't mind the $10 rewards since i can use them at ON, Gap or banana. Though, it would be nice if they just grouped them together at the end of the years, so then I can really go shopping..LOL For 3 months i collect my gap rewards and had a total of 60 bucks to spend.

alienhost
09-06-2006, 08:03 AM
Disney - I do use the GAP card a lot but I sometimes find I get the $10 coupon and don't find anything I really like at ON or Gap and so I end up getting some boring thing. Also it annoys me if you return the item (and say bought $50 of stuff) they deduct part of the coupon too. Anyway enough GAP talk.

I called my store and they said the Baby Sale starts today (Wed) but the additional 20% coupon starts tomorrow. I have my cart loaded up to buy on-line so I can use the 20% off coupon that December27JJB so generously offered me, but I need to wait til midnight to check out I believe. DH is going to think I'm nuts. It's also a bummer that I still have to pay shipping since you can only use 1 code. :( Oh well what can you do?

I hope the sales lady is in the store when I go back to get my price adjustment since she denied knowing anything about a Baby Sale. :p

JAYLIN
09-06-2006, 08:17 AM

Okay, now what's up with this 20% off coupon??? What's it for and where'd ya get it from.....can you use it along with the baby sale?

JAYLIN

thank goodness for ebay. I bought a 20% coupon for $10. Not bad, it's saving me $80...I'm loving that! This might be the best deals ever...as usual I ran my spreadsheet and I'm getting all the new lines for no less than 61% off, some of it is 72% off. This is factoring in the baby sale, the 20% off and selling my gymbucks on ebay for half their value.

Jeez, who ever would have thought that my accounting degree would come in handy shopping for my 2 year old's clothes!!!!!

I am an idiot!

I ordered a bunch of stuff from the racecra line last week for a total of $51, or course to earn my Gymbucks. Yesterday it arrived and the shoes are too small :( I don't have any stores near me (closest is an hour), but I NEED to get those shoes in size 3-4. Looks like I am going to have to order offline for a higher price and pay $5 shipping. But then what do I do about returning the old ones and still getting to keep my Gymbuck?! Can anyone help me? This stinks!

mel7dog I looked on the website and it doesn't look like Gymbo does exchanges on-line. You could just keep the too small shoes (need to to keep Gymbuck) and return it to the store without a receipt to get a store credit, but you would get the current selling price. OR return it w/ the receipt after you redeem your Gymbucks. I don't know what they do if you already redeemed your Gymbucks and want to return something older (you have 60 days to get your $ back, after that within 180 days you can get store credit). Maybe they would give you store credit, but that means you would have to go to a Gymboree store, are you heading that way at all?

Disneygirl - I am thinking about how your officer would work. I wouldn't cost much to ship the shoes both ways because they are very light. I could mail them to you, and PP you the cost of shipping to send them back to me. I think that would still be cheaper than buying new ones AND more importantly I could keep the gymbucks. sale during COF? I'm trying to figure out if it's cheaper to buy during the baby sale or to wait for COF for these. If they go on sale 20% during COF, then it might make sense to wait to get the 20+30% off during COF.

Oh, good grief. With this baby sale, half the stuff I had hanging out in my cart is now only $10. I feel compelled to hit "checkout" -- especially since it works out to $50.33 with my Visa discount and all -- can't get too much closer to $50, love that! The worst thing is that I have my Visa number saved in the site, so I don't even have to step away from the computer to find my wallet. They make it too easy.

I did say I was going to buy Joey some more long-sleeved shirts anyway. I also said I was going to wait until I redeemed the Gymbucks I already had... but I guess now I'll have even more to spend. What is my problem??

alienhost

where is my cart? I signed in, added stuff, didn't check out and when I sign in again the cart is empty. The stuff isn't sold out since I refilled it and it's gone again. What am I doing wrong?

Disney I'm getting mostly gifts (we have something like 3-4 birthday parties this fall and need a few baby gifts). I am getting DD the Kitty Quilted coat from Mix and Match, I already bought her current size at the store but might get another in a larger size for next year. I also might get the flower print dress from Creatures Great and Small.

I'm a little hesitant to buy much, right now she has 12-18 month clothing that really is pretty big on her (pants are long), tops are OK. I was going to get 18-24 for late fall/winter but everything looked so huge! I'm just worried that she won't fit into 12-18 but 18-24 still will be too big. Ugg what to do?

A couple of questions from a Gymboree newbie:

1) I ordered a few items online last week (and have yet to receive them). If they arrive before the baby sale ends, can I get a price adjustment in the store?

2) When does the baby sale end?

3) If I don't redeem my gymbucks during the October redemption period, can I save them to use during the next redemption period?

4) Can gymbucks be used on any merchandise, including sale/clearance items?

5) Are there ever sales during redemption periods?

ShelbyMay - Here's what I've learned so far...
1) I ordered a few items online last week (and have yet to receive them). If they arrive before the baby sale ends, can I get a price adjustment in the store?
I think the adjustment period is only 7 days

2) When does the baby sale end?
I don't think they have set an official date yet, waiting to see how much is sold

3) If I don't redeem my gymbucks during the October redemption period, can I save them to use during the next redemption period?
No, you have to use them during the redemption time. You could also sell them on ebay though!

4) Can gymbucks be used on any merchandise, including sale/clearance items?
Yes! I always use mine to buy sale stuff!
5) Are there ever sales during redemption periods?
I'm pretty sure there is no other sale, but still discounted clothes as usual

A couple of questions from a Gymboree newbie:

1) I ordered a few items online last week (and have yet to receive them). If they arrive before the baby sale ends, can I get a price adjustment in the store?

If you are at risk for missing the 7 day adjustment period, I'd call them with your order # (even if you haven't received your order by mail) and request the adjustment. They are very strict about the 7 days.

2) When does the baby sale end?

Sept 14th

(OT: Are there any deals like gymbucks at Janie & Jack? I heard they were affiliated with Gymboree.)

I haven't seen the same type of program at J&J, they are part of the same parent company

ETA: like Marisa said, if you return your original order and rebuy you would surrender your Gymbucks but you would earn new ones based on your new purchase total if the purchase is made by Oct 1st. During COF days it is still a Gymbucks earning period. However, some stores I believe won't let you rebuy the stuff you just returned (i.e. they won't make those items available for immediate sale) so you need to make sure the sizes/styles you want are in stock. Or order on-line again, but you will have to pay shipping (can't combine free ship code and COF).

Best bet is to rebuy stuff first, then return items another day once you find everything.

ETA: maybe they mean you can't get an adjustment to use your Gymbucks on stuff purchased just before redemption????

Price Adjustments

A one-time price adjustment will be permitted on any item within 7 days of initial purchase with original receipt. To receive a price adjustment for an online purchase, email us at orders@gymboree.com, contact customer service at 1-877-4-GYMWEB (1-877-449-6932), or send your entire packing slip to Gymboree Online Store, Attn: Price Adjustments, 2299 Kids Way, Dixon, CA 95620. Forms must be postmarked within 7 days of order date noted on the packing slip. A credit will be processed on the credit card used for the original purchase. Price adjustments will not be allowed on some orders that receive promotion discounts (e.g. Gymbucks). Online orders cannot receive price adjustments in our retail stores.

I went to gymbo tonight and put a bunch of stuff on hold. I told the sales lady I forgot my 20% off coupon in actuality I just haven't got it in the mail yet (broke down and bought one off ebay), but I didn't want the stuff to sell out in the sizes I need. I am so bad :p .

On another note the sales lady I talked to was really nice. We chatted for a bit. I mentioned something about the striped zip sweater already being sold out online and she said that a lot of it is people buying it and selling on ebay and how she thought that was so sucky of people. I guess I know she isn't one of the ones selling COF coupons. She even said that if for some reason I can't come tomarrow just to call and they'll keep my stuff, which is nice since before I have had sales people act annoyed about holding stuff. Anyways just thought I would add a positive experience with a gymbo sales person since we seem to have been running into some not so good ones lately.

I placed my order last night...I can't wait to get it all. I can't believe how cheap I got everything for. I think the biggest deals are the coats/hoodies that are normally $39.50. I was wondering about this since all the items I want are baby items and now on sale. I don't have a 20% coupon (darnit :( ) but will have a COF coupon. So are we assuming that most of these things will go back to FULL price after the baby sale? Won't some lines already be discounted before the COF is applied? Specifically I want to buy some of the elephant line, owl and beaver jammies and a couple of things in the dog and bear lines. I figure if they are even 20% off after the baby sale is over, the 30% in addition will make it well worth it.

What do you ladies think? Do I buy now.......or wait??

-sigh- So you all have turned me in to a Gymbo addict. For days, I figured out the best possible deals after scouring this page and gymbo haven and the gymbo site... Got all excited about the baby sale, tried to figure out how to coax a COF coupon...

So I go to my Gymbo to stock up on baby sale items... This all started with the stupid $30 elephant sweater mind you (I've bought the thing 3 times, returned it twice due to new sales)- And because of the new lines, the Creatures big and small line (boy version) has been relegated to 2 of 4 sides of a small stand on the girl side of the store. I was also hoping to pick up some of the Gone Campin' line (see me now, quoting lines like a champ!), but it seems to have disappeared completely, taken over by a rack of halloween costumes. Ugh! Of course they didn't have anything in the sizes I needed (because there were like 3 of each item except the ugly ones) and I had a throbbing headache. So, I headed out of the dumb store (which required a special trip to the hood-rat occupied mall) and went home and proceeded to order waaaayyyy too much stuff because they make it so easy online. Had to get the gymbucks, you know!

Ah, what am I going to do? Oh yeah, have the best dressed kid in town, that's what. I keep telling DH all these clothes are for upcoming pictures. If only he knew. And I haven't even mentioned how I'm going crazy on Ebay. Stupid me for looking at all the past lines at Gymbohaven. I guess ignorance is bliss, or at least, cheaper!

(Of course this is all meant to be tounge-in-cheek... :) I'm really just suffering a little Gymbo-remorse :o Ok, maybe not!)

The same thing has happened to me. It started with a simple 20% off coupon in the mail. Then I hit Ebay, too, and that is pure evil. I've been able to convince DH of the quality of the stuff and that boy clothes are ugly everywhere else. He really came over to the dark side when I brought home the Start Your Engines stuff and won some Big Wheelin' (monster trucks w/ flames) on Ebay. Prior to that, he complained about DS's clothing being all puppies and teddy bears. He still thinks I spend too much money on it, but I've also convinced him that w/ watching sales I can get it for no more than I would pay for stuff anywhere else. He's coming around.

Ok...you've got me too (throwing my hands up :) )!

I know I said I was irritated by the whole coupon conspiracy....but after going there today I just couldn't get over how cute a lot of the stuff is. Spent $59 today and got the elephant sweater, cap, a pair of doggie pjs, the owl hoodie and matching socks. And....will be going back for the COF sale....if not sooner, as I still want to buy more gymmies, hoodies, sweaters..... ;)

I've been a gymbo addict for about 1.5 years now, about 6 months before DD was born!;) I turned my mom into one once DD was born! So, lucky for me, she buys most of DD's wardrobe! However, I still splurge a couple times of year and today was one of those days! I believe my total was $225!:D I just LOVE the new lavendar line, Autumn Highlands. I do believe that I bought one of almost everything!

Okay I have a quick question, I haven't really ever bought my older son many of gymbos body suits, but do they tend to run on the small side or true to size?
My ds#2 is will be 2 mths on the 17th. He currently wears 0-3 mths in other brands, but he is starting to fill them out pretty well. So I bought him some 3-6 mths from gymbo, but I tried the body suit on and it doesn't seem like there is all that much room in it. I am debating going back and exchanging it for a 6-12 mth, but am afraid that will be huge. The jacket and sweater fit him big still in a 3-6 so those should be fine for fall/winter.

I'm trying this, but it's slow to convince DH b/c I've gotten almost everything for Matt on sale, usually mega-clearance. (I just cleaned up at Toys R Us; got $70 bucks worth of clothes... Didn't pay more than $3 per item... whole packs of Carter's onesies for $5!!). But now I'm trying for the 'quality' route. I'm also trying to convince him of resale value, but that's really just to justify my new ebay habit. ;) :o

ShelbyMay- yep the 20% codes are unique. I already gave mine away, sorry :( .

I went back and exchanged the 3-6 mth body suit for 6-12. The lady at the store said for some reasoon they had problems with that shirt running small. Good thing I tried it on cause I'd be soooo upset if it didn't fit in a couple months.

jbenny75
09-10-2006, 04:13 PM
I have heard that their onesies run small. I just bought one in the 6-12 size. DS is 14 lbs. 3 oz. and 3 months old. It is a little big, but wearable on him. I'd like to get the Jr. Varsity bibs and onesies for him for winter and I'm thinking I should get the 12-18 months size.

wildcat
09-10-2006, 05:21 PM
Gymboree has actually always ran a bit big on DD. She's definitely petite (11.5 months and 18ish pounds), 6-12 month onsies are starting to get a bit small, but the pants are JUST NOW fitting good. I've gone ahead and bought 12-18 shirts and pants for winter for the most part, but we've bought 6-12 pants for the stuff we want her to wear in the next few months. All I can do is cross my fingers they fit soon!

isaacsmommy
09-10-2006, 05:43 PM
Yeah the sales ladies siad most of the time things can be worn a bit longer than the measurments say (height/wieght), but just this particualr shirt was small. With the way this boy is growing I am almost afraid to buy him stuff from gymbo since he may outgrow them really quickly. DS #1 was always in the appropriate size for his age and usually I could even get a couple extra months out of clothes (ie he could still wear 3-6 at 8 mos, but could also wear 6-12).

The one by us had a lot of clothes but it was all stuff from older lines. From what I understand they make clothes specifically for the outlet stores that go with the older lines so they are a little different. They had some deals, but for the most part I didn't think the outlet store was much cheaper. Not sure if you can use coupons or gymbucks there.

You can't use gymbucks at the outlet. Not sure about coupons.

Personally, I wasn't impressed with the outlet. They've got just about the same clothes gymbo had last year, and the discount is only 20%. Not worth it, IMO.

regular price / Baby Sale price
$30.00 / 20.00
$16.50 / 10.00

QPDoll based on my quick calculations you save about $15 more w. the baby sale (for two of each item). The only item that is less during COF is the $12.50 item.

BUT if the lines are on sale during COF (like 20%) you would save $12 by going the COF route.

my package arrived I think stuff needs to be returned or exchanged, the sizes I got are too big in a few things. The 12-18 month pants are falling off her and she is 16 months. It looks doubtful that the pants will even be OK in a few months. Not sure what to do...:(

I spoke with a Gymboree associate about this on Sunday...which would be the better deal and she led me to believe that the newer lines that have things on sale during the baby sale will be going back to full price for COF. But anything discounted prior to the baby sale would probably be a better deal with COF. Not sure if what I just wrote makes any sense but that is what she said. I bought a lot of things now that were regularly $39.50 and $19.50 and on sale for $20 and $10 respectively because that is how she "advised" me.

I went to the store yesterday and picked up a few things for my DS during the baby sale. I asked how long the baby sale was going since I have my ultrasound on Thursday. (We won't be finding out the sex, so I don't know what made me ask, I just was wondering) She said Thursday. When I went to check out, she said, I'll give you a COF coupon, just in case you don't make it back on Thursday...SO. Now that the story has gotten long, I have an extra COF coupon if anyone would like it. PM me your address and I'll get it right out :)

Well, in the end, I guess it doesn't matter which is a better deal for me, baby sale or COF. I do my paperwork tomorrow night and after that I get 40% off as employee discount. Just working a few hours here and there to get out of the house and to get the discount.

I stopped in to check on a specific sweater today and all of a sudden, Nate, my younger twin starts screaming. He spilled his sippy cup all over himself. So, I had to buy a new shirt. Screaming stopped. LOL I told my DH, "I was FORCED to buy more Gymboree". LMAO

I do, but I only buy online now. I'm surrounded by gymbo stores but with 2 kids, i just don't have the time. I keep my cart loaded though so then the night the sale starts, i can make minor adjustments and then just submit my order. I used to try to bring the online print-out with me but I found it really only works if you're shopping in a Tier 1 store where they carry every piece from the line. Our Tier 1 is WAY too crazy the first morning of the sales so it's just easier for me to order online.

Jen309
09-12-2006, 12:05 PM
Will someone please explain the tier 1,2,3 etc. thing to me? I've never worked retail, so I don't know if it's a retail thing or a gymbo thing. I assume tier one is a bigger store and so on down the line, but IDK for sure.

DisneyGirl
09-12-2006, 02:59 PM
Yes a tier 1, 2 & 3 is used in all retail stores that i know of anyway.
A tier 1 store carries every item in the line and the store is called a tier 1 because they have the highest volume of sales thus they get all the pieces in each line.

A tier 2 & 3 are a smaller store that only caries a few pieces from each line. I don't know how they decied which peices out of each line they get though.

So it sounds like the Baby sale ends before COF starts? It would be GREAT if I could take advantage of both, but that sounds too good to be true! ;)

I was at Gymboree last night and bought a TON of stuff. I recently got a (very small, after taxes were taken out) cash performance award at work. I spent almost ALL of it at Gymboree last night! But I got $50 in Gymbucks, which is cool. That'll go a long way toward buying some cooler weather clothing for DS!

I won't post everything I bought last night--would take up way too much room! But I am in LOVE with the new Woodland Trails (http://www.gymboree.com/shop/dept_category.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=3563593&bmUID=1158150310126) line. I am definitely going to get some of this stuff, but I wonder if I'll get the better deal with the Baby sale, or with COF. Off to do some calculations...

Gymbucks Question

Did we ever determine what happens if you REDEEM your Gymbucks and RETURN the items on the receipt where you earned gymbucks AFTER redemption? Since you spent it they can't take it away, what happens?

Just curious....I have a few things that I'm on the fence about keeping and I was going to hold on to them for a bit and decide later as we get more into fall since you have 60 days to return. But redemption is before the 60 days is up....TIA!

alienhost So funny you asked this, b/c I just dealt with this yesterday. Last Gymbucks earning period, I bought DD the cherry overalls (plus several other items) at full price. I earned several gymbucks with that purchase. I then redeemed the gymbucks earned from the cherry purchase. This past weekend I tried the overalls on and they were huge on DD. I decided that since they did not fit yet and were more for warmer weather, that I would return them. So yesterday I brought them to my local Gymboree (tags still on w/ receipt) to see what happened when I tried to return them. Well, first the girl said ooooh you earned gymbucks on this purchase- where are they? I said I redeemed them. She said oh, ok. Then proceeded to refund the full amount to my credit card :) So that was my experience - there was no hassle at all.

Franni
09-13-2006, 10:07 AM
It's an easy problem to slip into. A lot of people (especially online shoppers) don't think of plastic as real money. They become mindless shoppers. I love watching a personal finance show (Suze Orman) and every single week there is someone calling her about being buried in credit card debt, this debt and that debt. I hear it from people that I work with.

The debt problem is a real issue. Most problem think that as long as there is space in their credit card, they could afford it. But that is so not true.

What a crazy article! I can see how it could so easily happen though- I have to be really careful to restrain myself, especially on eBay. Even though the purchases aren't expensive by themselves, they really add up after a while once you tack on shipping. Gymboree is particularly problematic because each line has so many pieces and you sometimes feel like you HAVE to have all of them.

do you ladies find their sizes run big or small? if i follow the weight range they give should i be ok? is their sizing comparable to old navy or gap clothes? any guidance would help - i'd hate to order a bunch of stuff just to have it not fit.

In most cases I think Gymbo runs a little big. My son is 2 1/2 and above the weight range for 18-24m, but many items have still fit him through the summer (shorts and t-shirts in particular; he's too tall for the pants and his arms stick out of the long sleeves).

isaacsmommy

I'd say a bit big, but I would try everything on after you get home because I just had to take back a bodysuit (from creatures great and small) because it was small. Even the sales lady acknowleged that the one shirt I had ran small for some reason.

Ugg I'm so fed up with the b!itchy sales lady at Gymbo. Today I went to return a few things I purchased on-line. I had my receipt, but left the Gymbuck at home b/c I knew the return didn't impact it. This was the dialog:

Saleslady: "Where is your Gymbuck?"
Me: "Oh it's at home, my return doesn't impact the earning of the Gymbuck"
SL: "Just so you know it MUST be attached to your receipt at redemption"
Me: "I'm aware of that but they don't actually staple it to the on-line receipt so I left it in the envelope it came in"
SL: "Well it must be attached"
Me: "Since I'm not actually redeeming it today I didn't think it would be a problem"

finally she shut up...

She was so snippy. I see her all the time, the past month I must have been in there 3-4 times. She was the one that "didn't know about the baby sale" when I asked about it a few days before it started.

When is the new line due out??

jbemommy
09-14-2006, 04:35 PM
alienhost That's just silly of her, the online receipt has the GB number/PIN and barcode, so the GB is really just a piece of unnecessary paper anymore.
ETA: new line is scheduled for last week of Sept. although it's been delayed a week getting to the SF test store, so may not be till 1st week of October.

I finally got to actually step into a Gymbo store today since we are on visiting my parents. The sales woman was so snippy to us :( She just kept looking at us like "you're not even going to buy anything" and I wanted to say "obviously I am just preparing for the sale tomorrow!" Blah. I think ordering online is just easier!

Returns and Gymbucks
A sales woman told my mom last week that you can keep your Gymbucks as long as you buy something else to replace what you are returning. Has anyone actually done this? This is our plan for tomorrow. Return some of Start your Engines since we bought about 75% of it (:o ) and buy some Jr. Varsity.

Here at My Gymbo store if I return something after gymbuck earning time period I will loss the gymbuck even if I were to buy something else in its place. Not sure if thats true or I just got a snippy sales lady or a slaes lady that had no clue what the heck she was doing.

Do they go on a search for snooty sales people or what? Who was it in this thread that is working there part-time? You'll have to let us know if they give you training on that!:)

I might have posted it before, but my first time in Gymboree, I went in with a 20% off coupon that I had gotten in the mail. I picked up the Baby Boy sneakers (the blue ones that are out right now-they are so freakin' cute), but since I was only getting one thing, I guess it was obvious I was only there for the coupon. The salesgirls were very chatty with the woman in front of me at the register (who was buying a bunch of stuff) and offered her different things (like the Gymbo Visa and an entry in the Wardrobe for a Year contest) that they didn't offer to me. I def. felt a "oh, she's only a coupon shopper" vibe. They were much friendlier (same girls) the second time I was back during the Labor Day sale and bought a bunch of stuff.

You should be fine Mel7dog since it is still during the earning period, if it wasn't I have no clue what they would do.

I put some stuff on hold tonight for tomarrow (pretty much all from Jr Varsity). I originally thought I would only get 3 more things from the line, but I think I put about 6 on hold. I might not get it all though. If I do get it all I think ds will have about 2/3 of the line. I had to restrain myself from getting the backback and socks (he doesn't need the socks- his shoes will cover them). What is the address for that lady's gymbo addict recovery site? I think I may need it. Though I have decided that after redemption I will try not to buy much, especially since right now the excuse I am giving myself is that both ds's need a fall/winter wardrobe. So I'll try to behave (until springtime of course ;) ).

ETA: Jbenny I definately used to get that vibe, but now that I have been there tons the last couple months (a spent quite a bit) the sales ladies are super friendly and a few pretty much know me now. Oh and I got the blue sneakers too, so cute :).

I had to pop in to say I get this vibe frequently at both my gymborees. Gymboree is as upscale as baby clothes get here in Des Moines, Iowa and they sure like to act like they are something special  Don't get me wrong I LOVE thier clothes, but its not Armani for babies. My parents took my DD on a shopping spree at gymbo this weekend and my dad tried to check out before I did. I made him stop so we could make sure we qualified for as many gymbucks as possible. The sales ladies eyes rolled sooooo far back into her head I thought they may get stuck!

But sales ladies aside I love thier clothes. I went nuts :hahaha: and bought the entire squirrel baby line and the kitty coat :D Grandma and Grandpa are now addicted. Good thing cause I could easily end up like the woman in that article. ;)

I think they are my favorite thing that I have ever bought for DS. I'm thinking of getting them in a bigger size for when he outgrows his current pair.

I might need the Gymbo Addict recovery site, too. I'm about to go get ready to go to the mall and I'm SO excited that I just can't get there fast enough.

alienhost

COF well like I suspected all the stuff from the Baby Sale is now back to full price so I probably won't be buying anything during COF since the sale rack was pretty measly.

Kitty Coat it is back online, but only in 18-24 months if anyone needs it, but it is $39.50 less 30% w/ COF. I wonder if they took it off the site during the baby sale b/c it was such a good buy at $20 or $16 w/ the 20% coupon.

solongtogo
09-15-2006, 07:18 AM
ebay has the coat too, a lot of different sizes now, most listings are cheaper than that 39.50. I got mine for 21 bucks!

so if we use our cof coupon, we can purchase from the sales rack too?

isaacsmommy
09-15-2006, 07:36 AM
Yep, cof is good on sale stuff too. That is why I am buying some Jr Varsity stuff, I don't think some of it will be there come redemption time.

Ok girls, I think I have to have DH lock me in the house to keep me away from Gymboree!! I spent $200 last weekend on the baby sale (didn't have the 20% coupon, didn't realize we could get it on ebay, but now I know!). Then there'a a Gymboree literally 1 mile from my office. So, I went Wednesday over lunch, bc I just HAD to have these overralls for DD...

http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140012680?$240x305$

I also got the onsie to go with it and decided that DD MUST have the hoodie sweater that I love, even if we don't have anything else from that line (WHAT? there's a line that we don't own something from??;))

http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140013118?$240x305$

(and when I just went to gymboree to find the image - I couldn't find it bc I "knew" i was halfway down on the left side...but it had moved...sick that I know that...need to stop looking at gymboree's site 10x's a day!).

Anyway, that was another $50 and another gymbuck. THEN, I put another $90 of stuff on hold for today! Seriously, $360 in 1 week is too much. I need to stop. I didn't go pick up the stuff today bc DD really doesn't need it. It's so hard to pass up good sales though!!!

disneygirl - I didn't get the pink kitty coat either! It's cute, but I wasn't in love with it.;)

09-15-2006, 01:06 PM
For some reason my store had everything in our size in Jr. Varisty! I was very happy after I saw how much was gone offline. Today we bought both onsies, the hat, the soft shoes, the warm up pants, hoodie sweatshirt, and the one piece :D I still want the socks so I may try another store. I keep taking the clothes out and looking at them I am so excited!

alienhost That's just silly of her, the online receipt has the GB number/PIN and barcode, so the GB is really just a piece of unnecessary paper anymore.

Funny you mentioned this b/c yesterday I got out the GB to put it w/ the receipt - I didn't "attach" it though :D , and it doesn't have any bar codes/GB number or anything on it. What is the point of it? Anyway I can't wait for redemption, I might bring in my receipt and not "attach" the GB just to annoy my favorite sales person....

Where is everyone? They must all be at Gymboree...

I hope I like stuff from the new line so I can use the 1 GB that I have.

Jbenny- My store still had the Jr Varsity stuff. My store is a tier one though (only gymbo around these parts too though). I got the plaid shirt, the khakis, the rugby shirt, the grey '03 onsie, the quaterback jacket and I already had the navy/orange track pants, the orange hoodie, the "tiny tigers" onsie, and the baseball cap. Geez someone stop me!!

Wildcat- I got the boy version of that zip up sweater! The girls is prettier though (I love pink). It was one of only a few things I bought from that line. Oh and don't feel bad about how much you spent I have I think $150 in GB's.

jbenny75
09-15-2006, 02:24 PM
isaacsmommy I wanted the blue/orange track pants and Tiny Tigers shirt, also the T.T. onesie, but no luck. I got the rugby shirt, the football helmet jersey, the quarterback jersey, the blue/maroon track pants, and the Little Dozer shirt from Dig, Dig, Dig (I just had to have that since DS is turning into a chubber).

Forgot to post this: Maybe I'm just sensitive to this b/c we've been discussing it, but I swear the saleslady rolled her eyes at me when I asked her if I had hit $50 so I could get my Gymbucks.

isaacsmommy
09-15-2006, 02:28 PM

I'm bummed because the tiny tigers track pants, shirt, and jacket were all sold out online in the size I wanted. Guess I should have had a team ready to start shopping at midnight like that lady in the article. ;)

I must be really lucky because my sales people are wonderful. I actually asked for a calculator the last time I was in there to make sure I was at the amount I wanted to be at.

And my store doesn't have a problem returning stuff that you earned gymbucks on just as long as you rebuy enough to zero it out. I've never returned after gymbucks redemption, so I don't know what happens with that.

Oh, and I just got home from vacation and they're was a big box waiting for my on my doorstep....I love online shopping....it's like x-mas! I got tons of stuff from the new line and the mix&match line. I'm kinda worried though, the winter lines aren't even out yet and I think I already have too many clothes. I have tons from the winterberry line from last year. Hopefully the rest of the year will be UGLY lines!!!!

Chylynn
09-16-2006, 10:31 AM
I guess I am lucky also because the two gymbo stores I shop at, all of the sales girls are great. I usually go to a tier 1 store, but once in a while they sell out of something I want and then I go to a tier 3 store to get it if they have it.

I have bought everything from the cherry line except the dress and the shoes(which were adorable but sold out) and I even bought some shirts bigger sizes in the cherry line (2T and 3T) so DD could wear them as PJs during her daytime naps.

I can't wait to see the holiday clothes. Does anyone know when they usually come out? I can't remember from last year.

Thanks!

I also want the elephant hat, but they didn't have it in DS' size in the store, so I think I'll use the 30% discount on-line to pick it up.

I am really tempted by the cowboy costume- at 30% off, it's not so bad. Do you think the girl's cowboy boots would work for a boy? I tried them on DS in the store and honestly did not think they looked girlish. I'm not sure about the hat though- DS would never keep it on his head!

I went yesterday and was pretty disappointed in how things looked in person versus online. Last year's Trail Mix was much cuter than this year's Forest Friends, at least as far as squirrel stuff. The pink one piece romper & bib I got last Nov., just a few weeks after I found out I was pg, is SO much cuter than anything out now. I didn't really buy much. The saleslady was very nice, though, and even offered to check in the back for one of the stuffed squirrels because I really wanted one of those. :)

I know this is a Gymboree thread, but I think the question applies since it's about Gymboree clothes, right?;)

I'm trying to decide on a dress for Lauren's first birthday pics and/or her birthday parties (she's having 2). The theme is butterfly's and pink/brown and some green. The pics are in a week and the parties are 9/30 and 10/7. For pics, we're going to do family ones in jeans and probably dark brown shirts, then I want to do 1 or 2 other outfits for Lauren alone, and then possibly the naked baby eating cake pics. (we're going to a professional photographer and doing outside and studio pics). I went to Gymboree today and picked up these dresses, what do you think? Are either ok for pics?

Thanks girls! I'm definitely going with the first dress! I tried the 2nd one on today, and DD will be 1 in a week and the 6-12 month I bought was HUGE on her. I really hate to buy the 3-6 month that she needs bc I can't imagine she'll be able to wear that in the spring. ANYWAY, what I came to ask was...has anyone seen this in a 6-12 or 12-18?? All my stores are out of it and of course so is the website (wasn't yesterday, but I waited:() and I need it to go under the dress!
http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140011878?$240x305$

I have the shirt I posted above, but the collar just doesn't look right to me under the dress, I like the peter pan collar better. I also bought this shirt that is better, but not sure about a cotton shirt under the wool-type dress? (you can't see the print on the shirt)
http://s7ondemand1.scene7.com/is/image/Gymboree/140011751?$240x305$

So I've been stalking the Gymboree website to see if any of the Jr. Varsity stuff I wanted came back online. Saturday, the blue/orange track pants in 6-12 were back up. I put them in cart, picked a couple other things, then DS woke up from his nap. By the time I got back to complete my order, they were gone again! Luckily, today, they were back up once again and I scored a pair. Now, I just have to find the Tiny Tigers shirt. I also got the T.T. onesie, but went with 12-18, which I was thinking of doing anyway since the Start Your Engines onesie I got DS in 6-12 seems small.

The baby girls line is adorable. I love it. But Josh'd get mad if I put Noah in a dress. Too bad gymbo can't read my mind and sell the mongrammed outfit I've got in my head for Noah's holiday outfit.
