We are having a hard time deciding whether to spend the extra money on a glider that reclines. If you own a reclining glider, could you live without it? If you don't have it, do you wish you did?

we have a glider that I love but it does not recline. it's funny that you posted this because I was thinking the other day that there were definitely a few times I wished I had splurged on the reclining glider. I nodded off nursing many times and it would have been nice to have a reclining one. :D

That's exactly why I'm thinking we might need one. I had originally wanted a single bed in the room, but it would be way too crowded so I'm thinking this might be the next best thing.

*Bump*

DH and I were just at BRU this weekend looking at gliders. At first I didn't think we should spend the extra money for the reclining feature. The more I think about it though, it might be a nice feature to have for those nights trying to get your DC to sleep.

we bought our glider second hand and it does not recline. I havent had our baby yet... but I already regret not having a reclining one... Ive been sitting in it a lot while getting the nursery ready and would love to have it recline.

Recline is a very nice feature as is an ottoman or footrest. Can you make due without, sure. Will you kick yourself for not getting it, probably not, though I did not spend many times sleeping in my son's room so you may be different. Will you use and enjoy the feature, very likely. Besides, after the baby is born just about everything you spend and slurge on is about the baby, which is fine. I like that I invested in this one piece of equiptment for me. And your glide is likely to become a very sentimental place for you. The place where you do alot of bonding with your baby as you feed him/her, read to him/her, sooth him/her, watch him/her sleep, ect. I think that an item you will feel that attatched to is worth investing in getting the best you can afford, within limits of course.

I regret not getting a glider with padded armrests than one that reclines. We went the cheapest route we could, and that's my biggest regret.

We've unfortunately used our recline feature more times than I care to admit. It at least allows you to be kinda comfy while you sleep holding the baby all night!

I'm glad we paid the extra $ for it!

We have a reclining glider (Shermag) and my DH has used that feature a bit, but I never really have. O.k., well now that I'm like 7.5 months pg w/#2, I do recline it to give DD some extra room on my lap while we read :p

When she was a baby though, I found it too difficult to BF in a reclined position and that's really what I did w/my glider. I never really sat rocking her in it all night - if she wasn't sleeping well on her own, we just co-slept. I could have done w/out the recline feature, although I'm very happy w/our glider, over all so I can't say that I would have picked a different one.

There's no way I could live without the recline feature!! I don't recline while nursing but my DD will fall asleep after feeding sometimes and I recline and cuddle and take a nap with her...it's so comfortable! We spent about $700 on the Dutailer glider and ottoman and it was worth it after just the first week!

My DS was colicky for the first 2 1/2 months and what I found that worked best for us, was a regular recliner (not a special baby glider/recliner). We actually went out and bought it when DS was about 4 weeks old since my back was getting so sore from bouncing him on my exercise ball. We bought the fluffiest, most comfortable recliner we could find, that also rocks and swivels. I can't begin to tell you how many times, I've fallen asleep in that thing with him (big tall cushy armrests so when he was really young I knew he wouldn't fall out of my arms if we both slept). The thing I like most about it is that it looks like regular furniture so we have it down in our living room, since I preferred to feed him etc downstairs rather than in his room.

For me the big key was comfort, and if I'm going to spend the money on it, I wanted to be sure that I would use it afterwards too.

Jakedog-Can I ask who makes your reclining glider? I would love something like that. Thanks!

I LOVE my reclining glider and gliding otto!

I can't tell you how many nights I fell asleep nursing in that thing!

Love it love it love it. Best $400 I spent on baby stuff, truth be told.

We bought the floor model and it is as UGLY AS SIN - but so comfortable!
