Help with my Mac Computer

I'm donating two of my old mac's. (an iMac and a G laptop) . How do I ensure that al my files have been permanently removed? Is there a easy way to reset the computers to factory settings?

It's hard to guarantee that all files could never be recovered. But generally just reformatting your hard drive will remove everything.
