Ewww...my cat SMELLS!

Last night when I was snuggling my kitty I smelled pee. I thought maybe she had peed outside her litter box so I looked all around but couldn't find anything. Then I had the thought to sniff her. It was her! OMG it is so gross, this cat's fur smells like pee! Does anyone have any idea why?! Her litter is cleaned daily and I can't find anywhere in the house she's peed, plus it's not like she'd lay in it. She cleans herself all the time. I thought maybe I was just more sensitive to it since I'm pregnant. Does anyone else have a smelly cat? :o

I thought about wiping her down with a baby wipe but I wasn't sure if that would be safe. Do you think it would be?

I'm pretty sure you can use a baby wipe, but they also sell fur wipes for pets at the pet store.

Is she sweaty? Sometimes my cats will reak when we take a car ride. Not sure why, but I think they must sweat or something bc their fur looks kind of matted afterwards.

You can also use a wet wash cloth to wipe down your kitty. One of my cats smells like pee right after he comes out of the litter box. I don't think he's very careful when he covers his pee - like maybe he puts his paw in it or something.

Also, it may be that your cat has an anal gland impaction. One of my kitties had that once - the smell was AWFUL!! :eek: It is worse than pee, though - very strong and very distinct musty smell. Peeee-u! We had to take her to the vet to have them expressed. Ick.
