Mirena IUD

Does anyone have one? Can you tell me about the process....do you like having it? Do you get cramps? Did you get them right after it was inserted? I am hoping to get one in the next few weeks. Also has anyone conceived after having had one? Thanks for sharing!

I have one and I love it.. There is a thread about IUDs under Emotional Support/Sex&Intimacy.

Mine hurt a little going in, and I was kind of crampy for a few days afterwards, but nothing major, and I have had no problems with it. This is the first one I have had, so I haven't tried to concieve after having it, but my doctor said I could the month after it is removed.

I have the Paragard (copper) IUD since the hormones wreak havoc with my system. I've had it for 3-4 years and I love it. Cramping is no worse than before although my flow pattern changed a bit.

I got mine in May 05 and haven't had any problems. the first day my pelvic area was very crampy very much like period cramps. I took advil and slept through it. i also had a little bit of spotting afterwards but the doctor warned me of that and said not to be alarmed. it wasn't bad at all. the next few days there was slight discomfort but nothing major. ever since I haven't had a single problem. about once every other month or so i get very very light spotting and slight cramping but nothing serious. I have LOVED not having to think about it.
