I have been on such a sweet kick lately! We have tons of holiday chocolate still at home and at the office and we just finished baking the cookie dough that I made for Christmas.
I just can't stop eating the chocolate! I always need something sweet to eat after I eat a meal which doesn't help. After dinner I would like to eat 1 or 2 peices of chocolate but once I start I can't stop.
Is anyone else a chocoholic or have an out of control sweet tooth? How do you combat it?
It helps if I brush my teeth (or use mouth wash) after I eat so I don't crave something sweet but I don't do it because I want to eat it!
I think once I finish the good chocolate I will start brushing my teeth after dinner and chewing gum after lunch.
I wish I was one of those people who didn't like sweets!

I really do eat too much sugar. I am always being told that I am going to turn diabetic.
I love pop, chocolate, fruity candy....basically anything!

I also struggle with cravings for anything sweet. (As a child I would even eat sugar straight out of the sugar bowl.) What seems to help for me after a meal is to eat fruit. I usually eat an orange, but sometimes I have other things. It seems to ease the cravings for something entirely unhealthy. Of course, I also had to throw away all of the leftover candy from Christmas to be able to resist. I also have muffin mixes that I make when an orange isn't enough. They are sweet, but not quite as bad for me as candy.

Sometimes fruit helps. But after dinner especially I am dying for chocolate. I think it is because I have had so much lately. Like they say if you don't eat sugar you will eventually not even crave it. Well I have had so much that I really crave it now!
I don't drink soda or eat any other candy than chocolate. I like most
carb-a-licious sweets like cookies, cake, donuts, etc although I hardly ever induldge in those. It is the chocolate that is my downfall!
I used to keep york peppermint patties and fun size (yea real fun size- not!) 3 musketeers because they are both low fat but my issue is stopping after one. The peppermint patties are better though because the minty flavor makes me not want to eat to much more.

I'm pretty good now about being able to eat a piece or two of chocolate, but for many years I couldn't. During that time, I didn't keep it in the house! If it's not there, you can't eat it! The other option--if you really want *one* piece of chocolate after dinner, only buy one piece of chocolate and bring it home with you. Don't keep any more in the house and there's no way you can fall into the temptation. (For the record, I can now keep chocolate in the house and eat it in moderation, but I still choose not to most of the time. Most times, if I want chocolate, I'll go out and buy a candy bar -- then it's a conscious decision to have it, rather than just falling into temptation.)

I have the same problem right now. I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but I've noticed that if I go through a period where I eat it frequently, I get cravings, like an addict.
The best treatment is to quit cold turkey. Rid your life of the sweets and ride out the withdrawl by keeping busy. It'll only be a few days and you'll be back to normal.
Sometimes, substituting a sweet craving with something else flavorful will help. For me, it's a slowly sipped glass of dry red wine, or (sounds weird, but) a baby dill pickle.

I always feel like I need something sweet after lunch so I keep a bag of Hershey's kisses at my desk and will allow myself to have just one after lunch. Of course if you have no willpower that won't help if you try to eat the whole bag but for me the one will satisfy my chocolate craving.

Normally, we keep nothing in the house, period. I am a chocolate junkie and can't handle it! That being said, I do think that having things in moderation can quell cravings. How about having your husband keep the Kisses (sometimes I tell FH to put things in a cabinet so high only he can reach!) and give you only one or two a day?

I used to have the worth sweet tooth. Then I got a horrible, horrible tooth ache a few years back that ironically hurt painfully anytime I ate anything sweet. Even though my tooth is fine now, ever since then I've been cured.
Hopefully you can find a less painful way to combat it! My philosophy is that you are craving it, give in at least a little. When I try to fight a craving, it usually just makes it worse to the point where I then overindulge. So, give yourself a bit of a break!
