For those of you who supplement or formula feed, which brand/type of formula do you feed your baby?

Also, was there a brand/type of formula that your baby didn't tolerate as well as others? I know some people say there's not much of a difference between brands, but I'm curious anyway. :)

DD eats Enfamil Lipil with Iron. It's what the hospital had in the bassinette and it seemed to agree with her. I tried feeding her Nestle Good Start and it gave her extremely loose stools. She seems to tolerate HEB Brand formula that is the same as Enfamil Lipil. (HEB Brand is a grocery store brand only found in Texas).

We use Nestle Good Start Supreme. I chose it after having used Similac and dealing with a very constipated, gassy baby. I would agree with the PP that Good Start does give looser stools than other brands. The stools, however, aren't any worse than when DS got EBM.

we use enfamil lipil with iron too.

we started with Similac with iron... and realized when we tried a sample of enfamil that her spitting up episodes were greatly reduced.. so she has been on enfamil ever since... (i think it smells better too...)

Nestle Good Start Supreme

He took to this with no problems. I've had a few friends start with Similac or Enfamil & have issues, and they all ended up using Good Start in the end with success.

We are on Isomil Advance. We had been trying just about everything with limited success, but when ds got the start of his month long cold in November, we switched him to a soy formula... AND HE STARTED STTN. So when I told the doc this, she suggested that we keep him on soy for a while.

We use Enfamil LIPIL with Iron. We tried Similac with Iron but DD did not like it as well (and had some problems). We won't go back to Similac.

It greatly depends on the baby. I have twins, one (older/bigger twin) will take anything with no problems. The other, (younger/smaller twin) We started on Enfamil (the regular stuff with iron, given to us by the hospital), and he had constipation issues. Then we switched to what I call Enfamil Lite, I think its called GentleEase. He continued to have problems with gas and constipation, so we switched to Similac and things improved even more so, but still not enough, so we switched to Similac Isomile Soy. No problems sans reflux, which he had on all the formulas. My other baby (the older/bigger twin) can switch back and forth between any of them and not have any problems at all. We also have used Kirkland Brand (Costco), which is closest to Similac, and had no problems with the older/bigger - and its a LOT cheaper, however, Kirkland doesn't have a soy version at our store.

The hospital sent us home with Similac and we never tried anything else.

We supplement with Similac advance (when she isn't on a formula strike, like she is now). It was the only one we tried that she would actually drink.

We started with Similac when I supplemented early on, switched to Enfamil LIPIL (for no particular reason) and now use Enfamil or the generic version from the store. I'm lucky that my son will tolerate them all, we never had an issue.

The hospital sent us home with Similac too (regular one) but after about 10 days, when she didn't tolerate it and was losing weight, we switched to Similac Alimentum on the advice of our pediatrician. (There is a history of allergies on my side of the family, including to formula when I was a baby, so that's why we switched straight to Alimentum without trying a soy formula.) She's been on it ever since and has tolerated it very well.

The pediatrician sent us home w/ ready-to-feed Similac Isomil Advance SOY w/ Iron, and he did alright. We switched to Similac Advance w/ Iron milk-based when we ran out of the ready-to-feed stuff. DS got a pretty nasty diaper rash and had some diarrhea after a week or two back on the milk-based so we tried soy again. He didn't like it nearly as much, wouldn't finish the bottle and consequently wasn't full and woke up more often to eat. We just switched BACK to the milk-based one to see if it was really the formula giving him the issues or something I'd eaten, since I do BF a little bit. (Not exclusively but you know my issues.)

We have a small can of the Enfamil LIPIL w/ Iron and will probably try that when we run out of the others.

What got me was that he had very loose, green, curdy stools w/ milk-based there for awhile, then with 2 days on the soy, his stools completely changed to thick, solidly colored dark green/brown STINKY stools. I don't know which one of those is more normal, really....any takers? LOL.....funny how interested you become in poop when you have a baby.

My DS gets Parent's Choice with iron which is the generic brand at Wal-mart. It is significantly cheaper than the other options.

Enfamil Gentlease - we tried symilac with iron and a soy based one - can't remember which - both made her constipated. We had a lot of issues with gas/colic.

We started with the regular Similac. DS was having problems digesting it so the ped suggested that we try the soy Similac. His stomach problems didn't get any better and his poop was like little rocks. The ped then suggested Enfamal Nutramagin which has broken down all of the milk proteins. It's more expensive than the other formulas but DS hasn't had the stomach problems that he did with the other formulas. The ped said that he would like DS to be on this formula until he's 6 months old. I think we'll try Nestle Good Start after this.

When we had to suppliment do to some medical problems I had early on, we used Alimentium. We tried regular Similac and it gave her horrid gas. I've heard that for occasional supplementation, go for the most gentle formula as BF babies sometimes have a harder time tolerating the regular stuff.
